My favorite thing about the spectres is they're all always telling each other, "you don't have to hide your problems. You can talk about your problems" but they're also always like "No, I cannot talk about my problems." Every single member of The Ghost crew is constantly saying, "well, SOMEBODY here has to start being emotionally vulnerable, but it's CERTAINLY not going to be me." Top tier found family dynamic, 11/10, no notes.

Rebels really gave us different and believable ways of grieving for each character. Hera hanging out with her oldest friend Chopper, finding some way to blame herself for Kanan's death and then honouring his memory in her family's Kalikori. Ezra wandering off alone, lost and directionless without his master, but slowly coming to accept Kanan's loss and letting him go, to learn from his sacrifice. Sabine and Zeb's immediate instinct to go blow shit up and make the Empire pay, but staying each other's hand when things get too violent, because Kanan taught them that how they fight is just as important as why. And all of them are able to come together after they've processed his death in their own ways, to hold each other in their grief and continue working as a team in his memory.

Thinking about how on Leia’s childhood birthdays, Alderaanian holonet channels would be broadcasting Empire Day specials all day long. Thinking about how Bail would turn it off and they would celebrate her day with an abundance of presents and desserts and Leia would feel like the happiest little princess in the galaxy, but she would always associate that day with the Imperial March.
Thinking about how on Luke’s childhood birthdays, Aunt Beru would make him a simple birthday cake and Uncle Owen would give him the day off of chores. Thinking about how Luke didn’t even know it was Empire Day until the year that Owen took him to Tosche station and someone said something about it, and how he didn’t really associate his birthday with Empire Day until Imperial presence on Tatooine began to increase.
Thinking about how on Ezra’s childhood birthdays, he had to watch the people who took his parents away marching down the Capital City streets to applause and cheers. Thinking about how the only birthdays he could remember were filled with misery and anger until he turned fifteen on the Ghost, and how even though his birthdays got happier with his new family, he always associated that day with pain and fear.
Thinking about how much their adopted families meant to each one of them on their birthdays, and how hard it must have been once those families were torn away from them.
Thinking about how much destruction and pain the Empire caused in all three of their lives, from the very day they each drew their first breaths.

So, what are the chances that Cal will run into the Ghost crew in the future???
I'm avoiding posting Jedi Survivor spoilers, so I'm going through my backlog of old Jedi Fallen Order sketches from 2021!

It is 5am AND I JUST REALIZED THAT KANAN BLOODY JARRUS HAS JAIG EYES PAINTED OVER HIS VISOR, WHAT? Did Sabine just bestow this symbol upon him due to his bravery and continous self sacrifice for the rebellion and his little found family? Does Kanan even know that she did this? Why doesn't Rex say anything about it? Why hasn't the rest of the crew noticed this? I'm in tears, does anyone know why is this so?
Tumblr media
Look at him! Why didn't I notice this sooner?
HE WEN TO A MANDALORIAN PLANET, TO SABINE'S CLAN WEARING JAIG EYES ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?? HOW IS THIS NOT A BIG DEAL? He is like oh "hello" I'm a JEDI WEARING A SYMBOL BELONGING TO YOUR RACE BESTOWED UPON ME BY MY MANDALORIAN DAUGHTER. I CAN'T even process this.
Edit: Where is the scene where Sabine lovingly paints it over his visor and Kanan doesn't know how much this means to her and her people. This symbolizes how brave and courageous Kanan is, that instead of being underestimated for his lack of vision he should be feared and respected and that my friends is what makes a grown ass person cry.

Sabine dyed Ezra’s hair for his birthday, Kanan finally caved and let her dye his hair for her birthday

I think one of the underlying themes of rebels, especially Kanan's story arc, is that tearing yourself down all the time hurts others, not just you.
Kanan at the start of the series thinks he's not good enough to train Ezra, which makes Ezra think he's not good enough to be Kanan's padawan. Later, in season 3 when Kanan is so focused on all the things he can't do because of his new disability, he furthers a rift between himself and Ezra, because Kanan lets his new excuse to look down on himself, ahem, blind himself to all the good he can do. It's only when he's got a real image of who he really is— flawed and broken, maybe, but not useless— that he's best able to help those around him.
Kanan's self-confidence issues, his fear of failure, as is with most people, stem not from thinking of himself too low, but from thinking he's capable of things he's not— he should be able to train Ezra and he should be able to take care of his crew and he should be able to get along just fine without his eyesight, and he should have stood with his master instead of running. Kanan has set himself up a standard that he can't live up to— no one could, and it make him feel awful for not being able to attain to it.
Worse than that, it makes Kanan assume he's letting everyone else down, when, really, it's his fear of not being enough for others that tears those others down the most. When the other members of the crew, especially Ezra, see Kanan holding himself to such an impossible standard, they're quick to assume he holds them to that standard as well— which, of course, he never does.
All of this boils down to why Ezra's frustrated "I don't want the best teacher, I want you," is exactly what Kanan needed to hear from him.
Kanan didn't need to hear that Ezra held him on a pedastal like where he'd always put himself.
Kanan didn't need to hear that he needed to be the perfect shiny version of himself that he wanted to be.
What Kanan needed to see was that his padawan saw him for all he was and all his flaws and chose him for who he was, not for who he was expected to be.

Something about how Hera loves deeply but is afraid to name it. How she lost her mother young and watched her father become someone unrecognisable, felt and witnessed the consequences of loving and losing. How her father's love became conditional and she had to choose herself. How she encounters an escaped Jedi and sees both the frightened boy he is and his quiet strength, and loves him so easily it frightens her. How she sees that same frightened boy in Ezra and immediately takes him in as a son. How her love is best expressed through action, modelling leadership and equipping those around her with the skills they need, so they are more likely to return home. How she loses Rebel pilots daily in the struggle against the Empire, and Kanan has to remind her often to trust that their kids can fend for themselves. How her commitment to freedom is so complete that she could lose herself in the fight for it, so long as she doesn’t lose the ones she loves. How she is only brave enough to let go fear and name the depth of her feelings for Kanan just before she loses him.

[ID: A digital illustration of many different characters and symbols from Star Wars Rebels season 2, surrounded and connected by designs from various Lothal cave paintings.
From left to right, and top to bottom: A small snail from Atollon, peering out from its shell. Next, Ezra Bridger with his arms crossed, rolling his eyes as he says “I’m literally neurodivergent and a minor but ok ://“. A drawing of Ezra’s repainted imperial cadet helmet. Garazeb Orrelios, looking to the side with his teeth bared and his ear flicking up to listen, with an arrow pointing to his ears and saying “ears!!”. Ezra, with his saber ignited, grinning and looking over his shoulder as he runs, yelling “let’s go loth cats” in all caps.
The next section shows Kanan Jarrus and Hera Syndulla kissing, with her hand tipping up his chin, and him blushing with many hearts floating around them. A brown spotted loth cat laying down in a loaf position, with one leg sticking out, captioned “leggy”. Sabine Wren takes her helmet off and scowls harshly, saying “cringe” in all caps. Hera sits in the cockpit of a fighter with a smile, captioned: “[screamo playing over cockpit radio]”.
The next section shows Sabine and Zeb lounging together, with peaceful smiles on their faces as they simultaneously daydream the words “violence murder killing arson biting”. Chopper stands in the center of the entire piece and extends one arm as he says “fuck!”. A Lothal cave painting with a Loth Wolf and a rider, staring to the side. The glowing meteorite stone is visible to the right.
The last section shows the fulcrum symbol glowing gray. Kanan and Ezra mimic the copycat meme from Into The Spider-Verse, with Kanan deep in thought, a hand on his chin, and Ezra watching him with wide eyes, a hand on his own chin. Ahsoka Tano is drawn buffer than her canon appearance, and has her lightsabers ignited as she reaches out her right hand to something unseen, her expression a deep scowl. Sabine, with her helmet on, jumping into the air with a basketball labeled “Ezra” as she dunks it into a net labeled “brother zone”. The piece is dated January 2023, and the artist’s signature is visible under one of the pieces.
The next three images are zoomed in on various sections of the piece. End ID.]
ok the ID for this is already long enough, but I've been rewatching the comfort show of All Time (SWR) and I ended up having so many silly art ideas that I put them all in one piece. I had an INCREDIBLE amount of fun with it, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it :D I miss my space family ;~;
