✸ christmas eve jolly. 💌 ﹫yoichi isagi, seishiro nagi, rin itoshi
they get to know the joy of celebrating christmas on the eve instead with your entire extended family around.
𝖳𝖠𝖦𝖲 !fluff & drinking. 𝖠.𝖭 !my first post... i too celebrate christmas on christmas eve.
Tumblr media
░ yoichi isagi.
"Why are celebrating Christmas the day before?" Isagi would ask you as you two finished setting up the table.
there was nothing abnormal about it in your eyes, it was tradition, it was the norm, it was how it should go.
so when you found out Isagi would wait an extra day to celebrate you took it into your own hands.
"Because why wait another day when you can join my family's tradition and just drink and have fun the day before?" You would question.
and he shut up just like that, it was a good enough answer for him.
he obviously didn't mind, celebrating christmas twice it was just odd to him since you'd wait on the day. but he wasn't turning down good food and a night of drinking.
especially knowing this would be the first time he was meeting your entire family, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents... and boy oh boy was it an experience.
Loud cheers erupted as you looked over from where you were seated with your cousins as Yoichi was bouncing around like a little boy after winning cup-pong.
"YOU SAW THAT BABE- I WON!" He yelled before tripping over and falling on his face.
You groaned covering your face in your hands as the girls around you giggled. "That's your boyfriend huh, [Name]?"
"Shut the fuck up because your husband is upstairs blacked out because he lost."
"...Fair."
bro was having the time of his life. drunk, playing multiple of games, and eating the best food he has ever had in his entire life.
definitely almost got in a fight with one of your drunk cousins but was saved by the grace of people wanting to dance.
speaking of. horrible dancer, the worst but he does try. you aunts try to get him to dance with them and most end up having to sit out of it for a few because he kept tripping over himself and hurting them slightly in the process.
"No no no no Yoi, you don't open presents until the clock hits 12, what are you 5?" You grumbled slapping his hand away from the presents.
He chuckled a bit leaning on you. "Oh come on, there are like 30 gifts here, it can't hurt to open one."
"If I even see you look at those presents I swear to God Yoi-"
Tumblr media
░ seishiro nagi
"All this celebrate Christmas Eve?" Nagi questioned raising an eyebrow watching you scurry around to get everything ready.
he could not believe his eyes or ears watching you get everything ready for christmas eve, no the day, the eve.
mind-boggling to him especially because you had no real answer to why you celebrated on the eve except for the 'traditions' excuse.
"Why do you celebrate New Year's on the eve?" You would ask.
he'd shut up after that with a little grumble but would eventually help you out, especially since it would be a day just for you too.
so when your entire family finally arrived and got straight to business he was overwhelmed, very much.
"This is too much." He murmured walking up to you and watching as all your cousins ran to the other side of the house to collect sticks for their game of spoons.
You rolled your eyes. "They aren't even drunk yet."
"Huh?"
give him a few hours and he'll be walking around following one of your uncles who is giving him a whole lesson on how to win drinking games without actually drinking.
and then somehow gets roped into letting the younger nieces play and style his hair, to his shock, was somehow calming.
"What the hell happened to your hair?" You questioned in disbelief as everyone around started laughing loudly.
"Your nieces."
"Oh!"
One of your cousins walked up to Nagi slapping his back, "Sucks to suck man, welcome to a party I guess."
we aren't talking about how most of the men are intimidated by his height, it gets you giggling and poking fun at them.
"How is he so tall?" Your aunt asked taking a sip of beer. "If I can't get my kid to be his height pushin' him out will be for nothing."
"Fuck if I know. Milk?"
Tumblr media
░ rin itoshi
"This is... something." He would utter looking around your shared home with a tilt of his head.
You simply smile. "It's the Christmas party. Pre-party. Before show..."
he really wanted to relax but meeting your family was very important to him so he sucked it up even if he was going to be a bit uncomfortable.
but to his shock, they weren't that bad. until they got drunk.
You laughed like never before as you watched Rin get carried around by the guys. He looked at you in desperation before he got thrown into the pool.
"Welcome to the family!" One of your uncles yelled before jumping into the pool himself.
You really should've covered it up a long time ago...
definitely caught all the ladies' attention when you introduced him as your lovely boyfriend.
your nieces because he's famous and handsome, but for the other women it was because he had such good skin for a football player.
"You have to tell me how you get your eyelashes like that? Do you use any skincare products? Aren't you rich and famous-"
You giggled watching Rin trying to run away from your cousin but she kept following, rambling on and on before she ended up falling on top of someone and bothering them.
"What do you use Riri?" You teased with a half-assed smirk.
Que the loud groan of defeat.
your cousins try to get him into playing as many drinks but he refuses. and then 5 seconds later he is somehow winning every bet he set up.
the uncles love him for some odd reason. maybe because he's the only one who hasn't heard the bs theories and stories.
"Okay... that doesn't make any sense," Rin uttered with furrowed brows.
Your uncle slammed some beer down on the table before pointing a finger right into his forehead. "'Ur drunk kid, of course you don't know about the fact that Americans are just a figment of 'ur 'magination, they aren't real, 's what the government hidin'."
"But..." Rin took another sip of wine. "I thought it was supposed to be British people that weren't real."
your nephews actually end up sticking around him the most. famous soccer player means they are asking him to play with them and teach them to be as great as him.
which also means all the dads are kinda jealous but also end up challenging him in a football match. because "you're still a kid"
"Are you having Nini?" You ask walking up to him, handing him another drink as he nods slowly.
"Mhm... your family are psychopaths though."
"Yeah... it's fine though."

shot by a bounty hunter and left for dead, you’re saved by an unlikely pair in the dead of night.

ch. 5 raise a little hell
you, john, and arthur go out on the town after a successful score. of course you couldn’t leave it at just one drink.
ch. 6 american dreams
need, morality, and family are difficult to conceptualize in a life defined by crime, and your vision of the world has been shaped almost entirely by the van der linde gang.
ch. 7 stormchaser
abigail roberts joins the gang. your relationship with john is changed, maybe forever.
ch. 8 dear john
a year’s worth of letters, never sent.
ch. 9 hang ‘em high
a high stakes bank robbery forces you and john to confront exactly how close - and how far - you are from one another anymore.

Themes and Tropes Tag
I was tagged by @tabswrites whose post is here! How did you know I go absolutely feral for anything having to do with tropes? Maybe the title of my blog? In any case, thank you! I'll even link you to the correct pages on TV Tropes for each one, because I have the official names for a lot of these memorized, and actually had a list of almost 100 going at one point and how they applied to my work; that's how obsessed I am. After all, you have to know the tropes before you can subvert them, right? (See #15).
RULES: Look back on your work, both past and present, finished and unfinished. What are five to ten fifteen narrative elements or tropes that continuously pop up in your work?
Everything in italics is courtesy of TV Tropes.
1. All Girls Want Bad Boys -  ...the Troubled, but Cute youth with a tragic past is a woobie needing comfort; he's tough enough to be a girl's protector, but vulnerable enough to need her as well...
Usually applies to my male characters.
2. The Charmer - The Jack-the-Lad. Cocky, cheeky and devil-may-care, he's the type of guy you can't help but like, even as he's wrapping you around his little finger.
Usually also applies to my male characters.
3. The Determinator -There is no stopping the Determinator. They do not understand tact. They do not Know When to Fold 'Em, and it's a waste of time to tell them the odds. No one can reason with them.  No price is too great to pay for success, up to and including their own life.
Usually applies to my female characters, especially when they're rushing to help and/or save the:
6. Distressed Dude - Meet the Spear Counterpart of the Damsel in Distress.
When the Bad Boy Charmer gets himself into trouble he can't charm his way out of, he becomes this. A lot of whump writing is this taken up to 11, and my own work is no exception. I also use Damsel in Distress, but not quite as often.
7. Uptown Girl - Our lovers are from different worlds — one wealthy, one not.
My first novel and Good Slaves Never Break the Rules played this pretty much straight. In the case of The Adored (which actually references Gatsby) the wealthy character is actually the antagonist of sorts, and the MC is the "normal" middle-class girl who has to make her not-wealthy love interest see the light.
This is often a jumping-off point to explore larger, Gatsbyesque themes related to money, class, fame, wealth, and corruption (see also: Was it All Worth It/Rags to Riches), and after the characters have learned their lessons, usually ultimately leads us to:
8. Standard Hero Reward -- This relates to #7 and by definition it's a spoiler, so I'll say no more. (Sometimes it's played straight, sometimes lampshaded/subverted).
9. Xanatos Speed Chess -- Some characters have an amazing gift not only for making The Plan but for revising it whenever new circumstances arise. See also: Zany Scheme.
Or maybe I've just performed in too many musical comedies.
10. Unresolved (often also Belligerent) Sexual Tension - Two people are obviously attracted to each other, but some element of the story is keeping them apart. See also: Mutual Pining/Idiots in love/Will They or Won't They?
11. Dark and Troubled Past - Something terrible happened to a character; some tragic event in their past that shaped a fundamental level of their personality. Long after the event is over, it still has a powerful influence on the character's life.
Chances are if one my characters is important enough to have a past at all, there's probably something terrible in it.
12. Deadpan Snarker - A character prone to gnomic, sarcastic, sometimes bitter, occasionally whimsical asides.
My main characters MUST have a sense of humor, and it's usually this kind.
13. The Chessmaster -- Chessmasters tug at their strings of influence, patiently move their pieces into places that often seem harmless or pointless until the trap is closed.
I tend to often make my villains and/or antiheroes some variation of this, and no matter how evil they are, they almost always have a:
14. Freudian Excuse -- ...writers may keep the villain (especially The Sociopath) just as vile as before, but reveal that they have a reason for being that way.
(Hint: It's usually their parents).
And finally, this brings us to the most important trope of all:
15. Lampshading -- ... the writers' trick of dealing with any element of the story that threatens the audience's Willing Suspension of Disbelief, whether a very implausible plot development or a particularly blatant use of a trope, by calling attention to it and simply moving on.
In other words, you can get away with using the same tropes over and over and over again, as long as you do it with a wink and a nod at the readers.
I could keep going on this forever, but instead, I'll gently tag:
@i-can-even-burn-salad @janec23 @mysticstarlightduck @rickie-the-storyteller @writingforjoy

🤙42 lessons life taught me 💖
It is something we should all read at least once a week! Make sure you read to the end!
Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of the Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio.
"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 42 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:
1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short – enjoy it..
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and family will.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Stay true to yourself.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. Save for retirement starting with your first pay check.
9. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
10. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
11. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
12. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
13. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it...
14 Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
15. Get rid of anything that isn't useful. Clutter weighs you down in many ways.
16. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
17. It's never too late to be happy. But it’s all up to you and no one else.
18. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
19. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
20. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
21. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.💖
22. The most important sex organ is the brain.
23. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
24. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
25. Always choose life.
26. Forgive but don’t forget.
27. What other people think of you is none of your business.
28. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
29. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
30. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does..
31. Believe in miracles.
32. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
33. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
34. Your children get only one childhood.
35. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
36. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere. (I love this one)
37. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
38. Envy is a waste of time. Accept what you already have not what you need.
39. The best is yet to come...
40. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
41. Yield.
42. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

We lost the summer ch.1
Kai and reader are childhood friends and they have this thing where they make a list of things to do for their summers during the school year. How will this summer end!
(Inspired by kissing booth 3)
“I wilL alwAys love yOu”
“Stop stop no more, please my ears” says the brunette laying on the bed with his ears covered. “Maybe you should put singing lessons on the list” he finishes laughing so hard tears are running down his face.
“Well im sorry not everybody is as gifted at singing as you are” you replied rolling  your eyes. It was true his voice is one of the most clearest most angelic voices youve ever heard. But your singing was the exact opposite your voice always cracked and you couldnt hit a right not to save your life.
“But how will we do that together” you asked
The list you were talking about is The summer To Do list. You guys made it when you were in third grade and kept the ‘tradition’ since. During the school year yall would fill the list up with a bunch of things you both wanted to do when summer came.
“I could still improve my singing so i can sign up to” kai responded now looking at his phone.
“But we would most definetly be seperated into different classes”
“Yea I guess your right that wouldnt work” he sighed.
“I have an idea” you say excitedly “ ive always wanted to try acting class”
“That does sounds fun. Write it down.”
You grab the orange sharpie and wrote the number 1. Acting classes. The paper is like a long scroll and looks as ancient as one. You write down the year of the summer leave a space under it for when summer is over to name the summer. Then yall write down the list.
“Lets think of some more things another day.” Says kai yawning. I look over to the clock not noticing how much time has passed its now 11:37 and we both have school tommorow.
“Ok ill head home goodnight kai “ i say while collecting my stuff to leave.
“Bye y/n get home safe”
The walk home is like a routine. You live on the same street as kai and the amount of times youve walked to and from his house is to many to even try and count.
When you walk into the house you can hear your parents talking, well more like arguing but in a light voice. You just hope it stays that quiet and you can get some rest. Though its highly unlikely because their arguments always get loud and you barely can rest.
You walk into your room and flick on the lights. Your room was in pretty nice shape since you cleaned just a few days ago.
You go and flop on your bed and almost immediatly fall asleep. There was no need to change since you went to kais in your pajamas.
“CRASH”. You were suddenly woke up by something fragile hitting the ground. You looked at the time and it was 12:06 you barely got 30 minutes of sleep. You dont know what you were expecting it happens almost every night for the past few months.
Your parents have both been fighting with each other over every little thing and it was not healthy. You used to not be able to sleep at night because they were so loud but it started happening so often that you invested in some earbuds.
It was pointless of you to go tell them to quiet down because then you would get yelled at by both of them. So eventually you stopped.
You reached over in your nightstand and take them out and plug them, hoping you would get enough sleep to be ready for tommorow.
(a/n This is my first fanfic and if you like it pls comment. It helps motivate. Also dont know the update scheduling.)

42 Lessons Life Taught Me- written by a 90 year old. 👵🏼
"To celebrate growing older, I wrote the 42 lessons life has taught me:
Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
22. The most important sex organ is the brain.
23. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
24. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
25. Always choose life.
26. Forgive but don’t forget.

Let’s take a look at 1 Peter 1:8-9 for the lesson today. “8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.” I love these verses, especially the “joy unspeakable” part. To be saved, you must learn from the scriptures, believe in Jesus, and love Him with all your heart (Mark 12:30). I love that so many people on this world love Jesus, who we can’t even physically see. It’s because of the Lord’s love for us that we love Him (1 John 4:19). Maybe you haven’t grown to love Him yet. That’s okay! As long as you continue in your journey with God and live in His gracious love for you, you’ll learn to love Him soon. When we love Him and believe in His Word, we can rejoice with joy and glory so amazing that we can’t even fathom it. That’s how awesome God is. And if we remain dedicated to walking by faith and not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7), we will receive salvation for our souls from the living God. Only through Jesus can we receive eternal life in paradise and rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. Acts 4:12. Only God could bring such joy, love, grace, and salvation. It’s through His truth that we find fulfillment and the gift of a forever home in heaven. If you haven’t given yourself to God, I hope and pray that you do so that you can receive a mansion in heaven as well. He is knocking on the door for you. Revelation 3:20. Open the door and allow Jesus to transform your heart before it is too late!

Are You in Right Standing?
Beware of Self-Deception
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
It is easy to rationalize our thoughts and behaviors, but that leads to self-deception. As the saying goes, “There’s no one more blind than the one who refuses to see.” Of course, self-deception leads to self-destruction. Perhaps, it would behoove all of us to audit ourselves with the help of Holy Spirit. Be willing to see what’s hiding beneath the surface, and actually do something about it. Like repent and make some changes.
1 Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
While it’s true we are saved by grace (see Ephesians 2:8-9), we cannot afford to abuse it, or attempt to hide behind it. If we decide to just go about our “merry way,” hoping grace will keep us from driving off a cliff, we could be in for a rude awakening. Here’s a passage of Scripture that might get one’s attention.
Matthew 7:19-23 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in Heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name? and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.
Fruits refers to our ways. Actions don’t always reveal what’s in the heart. Read Matthew 6, where Jesus talks about the hypocrites who seek the honor of men by doing by their public display of “good works,” for example. People have a misconception that signs and wonders are signs of God’s stamp of approval on their life; however, they are there to confirm His Word and bring Him glory. Gifts work, regardless of the person. For instance,
And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one Man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation (John 11:49-51).
Notice, Caiaphas did not speak of himself, but it was the office of the high priest that worked through him. Later, he would cry, “Crucify Him!” Was his heart right before God? There are numerous lessons to be learned from Matthew 7; but for now, let’s narrow the focus.
2 Corinthians 10:18 For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
One Example: Forgiveness
There are many areas of which to audit, so we’ll look at just one major area (not to dimmish any other). How do we view forgiveness? How many Christians hold grudges? Is that okay? Yes, it’s a rhetorical question, but a lot of people talk out of both sides of their mouth when it comes to this subject. On one side, they’ll proclaim the forgiveness of God, and the merits of forgiveness. On the other, they talk of retaliation when someone does something offensive to them. That manifests in different ways, and at the center of it is pride. You can hear it in their voice when they talk about how they would deal with someone who should do them wrong. A lot of the ways they mention are what they learned from others while growing up (parents, close relatives, friends). Regardless of the source, it’s still unbiblical.
Matthew 6:14-15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Jesus makes it very clear: if you will not forgive others, God will not forgive you. Read Matthew 18:21-35, in which Jesus refers to the importance of being merciful. Verse 35 serves as another stark warning: So likewise shall My heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not everyone his brother their trespasses. Those who fail to extend mercy, will not have mercy extended to them.
The intent is not to use fear and torment to motivate anyone to action. The fear of the Lord is appropriate, but let’s not forget love. Perhaps, think about it this way: if a person refuses to forgive others, does he or she actually walk in love? 1 Corinthians 13:5 tells us, love is not easily provoked, nor takes into account a wrong suffered. This leads us back to Matthew 7:23 where Jesus said, “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.”
1 Corinthians 8:3 But if any man love God, the same is known of Him.
One aspect of those who practice iniquity is they do not love God. He knows those who love Him. They are intimate with Him. Love extends mercy for the sake of God and the individual. Being in right standing includes forgiveness! By the way, His grace enables us to forgive when it seems impossible.

How to know your calling
Word for Today written by Bob and Debby Gass
24, November 2022
‘He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.’ Ephesians 2:10 NLT
When God called Moses to deliver Israel from Egypt, Moses first tried doing it his own way. Killing an Egyptian to save an Israelite’s life, he winds up a fugitive for forty years. After living in the wilderness and learning his lesson, he returns to do God’s will, God’s way. All of us, not just church leaders, are called to do God’s will, God’s way. You say, ‘But how can I know what I’m called to do?’ You begin by answering these questions:
(1) What are your spiritual gifts? ‘God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts.’ (1 Peter 4:10 NLT) Let God show you those core competencies where you’re best suited to serve Him.
(2) Do you have a mentor who can train you? That’s part of your pastor’s job. ‘Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ.’ (Ephesians 4:12 NLT). Acknowledge that you need help. You can’t get there by yourself!
(3) Are you involved in your local church? ‘Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.’ (Romans 12:4–5 NLT)
(4) Are you willing to serve wherever there is a need? If you want to know your calling, start serving and God will reveal it to you.
