Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. John 14:12
Consider Jesus Christ. His was the greatest life that was lived on the earth. Everyone who has ever been called great pales by comparison to the greatness of Jesus. Greatness in God’s eyes has nothing to do with pomp or being famous in the world’s eyes or having a lot of money. Being great in God’s sight is to do what God called you to do. The only greatness in life is what is done for Christ, even in the midst of humble circumstances.
We cannot have greatness in ourselves, but only as God works through us. We can do great things for God as we are led by Him. Let the Holy Spirit work in you and He will lead you to do something great. That’s the amazing thing about knowing Jesus Christ. Every day you can do something great with Him and through Him.

The First Lord’s Day: Jesus Rises
1-7 When the Sabbath was over, just as the first day of the week was dawning Mary from Magdala and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. At that moment there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from Heaven, went forward and rolled back the stone and took his seat upon it. His appearance was dazzling like lightning and his clothes were white as snow. The guards shook with terror at the sight of him and collapsed like dead men. But the angel spoke to the women, “Do not be afraid. I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here—he is risen, just as he said he would. Come and look at the place where he was lying. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead. And, listen, he goes before you into Galilee! You will see him there! Now I have told you my message.”
8 Then the women went away quickly from the tomb, their hearts filled with awe and great joy, and ran to give the news to his disciples.
9-10 But quite suddenly, Jesus stood before them in their path, and said, “Peace be with you!” And they went forward to meet him and, clasping his feet, worshipped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go now and tell my brothers to go into Galilee and they shall see me there”
11-15 And while they were on their way, some of the sentries went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. They got together with the elders, and after consultation gave the soldiers a considerable sum of money and told them, “Your story must be that his disciples came after dark, and stole him away while you were asleep. If by any chance this reaches the governor’s ears, we will put it right with him and see that you do not suffer for it.” So they took the money and obeyed their instructions. The story was spread and is current among the Jews to this day.
Jesus gives his final commission
16-17 But the eleven went to the hill-side in Galilee where Jesus had arranged to meet them, and when they had seen him they worshipped him, though some of them were doubtful.
18-20 But Jesus came and spoke these words to them, “All power in Heaven and on earth has been given to me. You, then, are to go and make disciples of all the nations and baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to observe all that I have commanded you and, remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.” — Matthew 28 | J.B. The Great Commission:
“Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” —Matthew 28:16‭-‬20 (ESV)
“What does Matthew 28:19 mean?” By Bibleref.com:
“In Matthew's story of Jesus, these are His parting words to His eleven remaining disciples. Verses 18–20 are often called the "Great Commission" because Jesus is sending His hand-chosen disciples out into the world to accomplish a specific mission: Make more disciples. This comes with some noteworthy inclusions, but what is also crucial are things which Jesus does not say.
Specifically, the disciples are to make more disciples of all nations. This means people from every people group and ethnicity on earth. Through Jesus, God's relationship with humanity has moved beyond Israel to include people from every corner of the world who come to the Father through the Son.
Jesus' command is to make "disciples." A disciple is someone who becomes like his or her master by living in a servant relationship to him. They learn from and submit to that person's example. That's what each of the eleven disciples hearing this for the first time had done in answer to Jesus' call. It is now what they will invite others to participate in from around the world.
Discipleship to Jesus involves at least the two things Jesus mentions in this command: baptism and obedience. The disciples are commanded to baptize new disciples in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The choice to be publicly baptized is evidence that someone has believed in Jesus and made the commitment to follow Him. The disciples were given the authority to baptize that person in the name of God, declaring that person's position in the eternal family of God.
Notable is that Jesus does not command His disciples to "print Bibles," or anything similar. The written Word of God is our ultimate reference for matters of faith (1 Corinthians 4:6; Acts 17:11). It was intended for that purpose by God (2 Timothy 3:16–17). It is not meant to be the only means, or even the primary means, by which new Christians learn about faith (Acts 8:30–31). The primary work of the Great Commission is to "make disciples," which means the cooperative, mentoring process we now refer to as "discipleship" (Acts 18:24–28; Hebrews 10:25; 13:7).
Context Summary: Matthew 28:16–20 describes Jesus' commissioning the eleven remaining disciples on a mountain in Galilee. He had given them a message to meet Him there. Now He appears and commands them to make disciples from the people of all nations on the earth. He calls on them to baptize these disciples in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They must also teach these new believers to obey everything Jesus has commanded them to do. Matthew ends his book with Jesus' promise to always be with those who believe in Him.
Chapter Summary: An angel of the Lord descends from heaven and rolls the stone from Jesus' tomb. The guards faint. The angel sits on top of the stone and waits. Two women, followers of Jesus, arrive and are told that Jesus is risen from the dead. Jesus then meets them and tells them to give the news to His brothers. The chief priests bribe the guards to say Jesus' followers stole His body. Jesus meets the disciples on a mountain in Galilee and commissions them to make disciples of people from all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey Jesus' commands. Jesus promises to be with them always.”

If You Knew the Gift of God
JESUS COMES TO a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well is there. Wearied as he was from His journey, Jesus is sitting beside the well when a woman from Samaria comes to draw water. Jesus says to her, “Give me a drink” (John 4:5-7). Why would Jesus ask a complete stranger to serve him? Have we not been taught that the Son of Man came not…

Video
youtube
Samaritan’s Purse has released their Operation Christmas Child 2023 overview video on their YouTube channel.
Every shoebox is important because every shoebox is an opportunity to tell a child about how much God loves them and how he sent his son Jesus Christ to die for our sins so we can reunite with him in Heaven. Whether you pack a shoebox only once a year or you pack shoeboxes all year round. You can help reach children around the world who’re in need of a gift that could change their life forever.
If you’d like to help out, you can either pack a shoebox yourself & drop it off at your nearest drop off location. You can help the warehouses by providing filler items to help pack half-full shoeboxes so every child has a full box of blessings. You can buy shoeboxes that’re pre-printed on Samaritan’s Purse’s website.
Cardboard Shoeboxes (Pack of 50) for $33  Plastic Shoeboxes (Pack of 12) for $23
You can find your local drop off location here.
You can register to volunteer to process these shoeboxes here.
There are many channels on YouTube that feature shoebox packing and you can find many ideas from websites like Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Amazon Page & their gift idea page on their own website.
BUT If you can’t personally pack a shoebox yourself, you can always help reach unreached people groups through Build a Shoebox Online. So you can have them pack the items you want to put into your box and they will send it to a child in need.
If you’d like to see what people are packing in their boxes, here are some specific YouTubers that feature Shoebox packing for Operation Christmas Child:

David Dunn - Heart Stops
This song / message from David Dunn is dedicated to every believer that is wasting their very limited time on this planet with arguments, political rhetoric, and other temporary things, instead of doing the work they are called to do. “What work!?” you might be asking. Spreading the gospel to the lost, and bringing them to The Lord.
“So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Acts 1:6-8
Your purpose as a follower of Jesus Christ is to be His witness in your cities and towns, workplaces and marketplaces, on social media platforms and on street corners, pool side or deep in the forest, and anywhere else He places you! When your stops beating will those that you were meant to reach for Jesus be reached with His message or with your views of the world at hand? Fulfill your purpose as His servant who spreads salvation to the lost, not as a servant to your own message or someone else’s.

Jesus' Manifesto Part 3 The ongoing transmission
The Great Commission Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus’ mission (manifesto) was passed down to the disciples and so on, all the way down to us believers today.
Mark 16:15-18 is similar to Matthew 28:18-20
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Jesus’ manifesto was first passed to the 11 disciples and ultimately to the whole church including us- c.f Matthew 28:18-20 The Great Commission is our commission.
Many believers look for confirmation in a “calling.” But Jesus did not call some (or any) of his followers to his mission. Rather, he called them to himself and sent them on mission. If you are walking with Jesus, his manifesto is incumbent on you and me.
Every disciple must be a disciple-maker, whether God sends you down the street or to the other side of the world. As you go to work, to the grocery store, to the foodbank, or to the gym- live and love like Jesus. Be confident in his authority.
Mark 16:15-18 describes the full gospel: salvation from sin, deliverance from demons, healing and curing of sickness and disease, and immunity from poisons.
The next transmission of Jesus’ manifesto was in:
The Great Commission Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Consider the four “alls” of Christ’s commission, “All authority”, To go to “all nations”, To communicate “all his teaching,” strengthened by his presence “all the time” (translated always).
Jesus claims to have all authority in the universe to lead us on this journey. He claims that his teaching is the most important thing in life to follow and therefore, he claims that all nations need to know his teaching. And last but not least, he claims that he will be with us for all time.
Huge claims, and in the literal sense, incredible — you would not believe them unless Jesus is God.
Whatever, the four “alls” might mean for you and me and wherever the Lord takes us, be it near or far we must not let fear crowd out our faith. Jesus spoke these words to give us a task and to give us courage in and through the task. These four “alls” remind us that the burden is not on us but on Jesus Christ himself.
However, we are obliged to obey Jesus’ command, for the Great Commission is for every believer.
Amen
Personal Prayer
In Part 4 we consider the onward transmission of Jesus’ manifesto on the day of Pentecost.

He Up and Left Us
“For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them.” (Matthew 25:15, NKJV) Jesus, being divine, is always with us.  Theologians refer to this as God being omnipresent and it should bring great comfort to you. But… On several occasions Jesus made it clear that it would be like He’s not here with us.  “For the…

The Movement
Can you think of any important movements that have occurred in your lifetime? When I look back in my life at the various movements I can recall, they usually have a common thread. They were spurred on by the younger generation. In 1992 the election between Bush and Clinton had a movement. MTV highlighted the Rock the Vote campaign urging their listeners (20 year olds) to vote. Some say this…
