Lately I’ve been leaning towards discovering new music through radio and music video stations, as they do a lot more in helping me find new music than streaming services ever did.
I think the problem is that streaming’s algorithmic nature leads to locking yourself into a comfort bubble with the same old playlists with the same old recommendations. “Made For You” playlists further lock you into that box as long as the songs get more streams.
Meanwhile, I watched Rage recently (the Australian equivalent of MTV) and it got me hooked on Reel Big Fish and Little Simz, two amazing artists I had no interest in before because I was never made aware of their music. I rediscovered The KLF through listening to Radio X on the RadioGarden app. Two mediums of listening to music known for constant repeats of popular songs have done more for me (in terms of finding music) than Spotify has ever done.
At the end of the day, all three still want your money, but Spotify wants your money by locking you in your comfort zone and all your “favourite playlists”.

Portals: The KLF's Chill Out (A New Dimension)
A 'mixtape' from A Strangely Isolated Place, which serves as a reinterpretation of The KLF's Chill Out. The original album's concept and timing remain, but with all new music from various artists and field recordings. A more in-depth description (a long with other mixtapes) can be found on the ASIP blog.
‘Tracklist’
For the best experience, I would suggest listening without looking at the track list first. If you knew what was coming in the original album, would it have been as fun?!
Tracks are listed below in (very) rough order in which they first play. Most of the time 4/5 tracks are playing at the same time. Many tracks are used multiple times at different points in the mix. Plus there are other small samples used that were changed from existence and not listed below.

Lyrics:
All bound for Mu Mu Land
All bound for Mu Mu Land
(Hey)
All bound for Mu Mu Land (justified)
(Hey, hey)
All bound for Mu Mu Land
Mu Mu Land
Mu Mu Land
All bound for Mu Mu Land
They're justified, and they're ancient
And they like to roam the land
(Just roll it from the top)
They're justified, and they're ancient
I hope you understand
(To the bridge, to the bridge, to the bridge now)
They called me up in Tennessee
They said "Tammy, stand by the jams"
But if you don't like what they're going to do
You better not stop them 'cause they're coming through
(Bring the beat back)
All bound for Mu Mu Land (justified)
(Hey, hey)
All bound for Mu Mu Land (justified)
Mu Mu Land
Mu Mu Land
All bound for Mu Mu Land
They're justified, and they're ancient
And they drive an ice cream van
(Just roll it from the top)
They're justified, and they're ancient
With still no master plan
(To the bridge, to the bridge, to the bridge now)
The last train left an hour ago
They were singing, "All aboard"
All bound for Mu Mu Land
Then someone started screaming, "Turn up the strobe"
(Bring the beat back)
All bound for Mu Mu Land (justified)
(Hey, hey)
All bound for Mu Mu Land (ancients of Mu Mu)
Justified and ancient, ancient and a-justified
Rocking to the rhythm in their ice cream van
With the plan and the key to
Enter into Mu Mu
Vibes from the tribes of the jams
I know where the beat is at
'Cause I know what time it is
Bring home a dime
Make mine a "99"
New style, meanwhile, always on a mission while
Fishing in the rivers of life
Fishing in the rivers of life (hey)
Fishing in the rivers of life (hey)
Fishing in the rivers
Fishing in the rivers
Fishing in the rivers of life (hey)
All bound for Mu Mu Land (justified)
(Hey, hey)
All bound for Mu Mu Land (justified)

I just watched the documentary Who Killed The KLF? and obviously they covered the burning of the million pounds. There was a huge amount of anger about it at the time, and still is in some circles. Many felt it was obscene to burn that amount of money when it could have been put to such good use.
Here's the thing, this is essentially what billionaires do by orders of magnitude every day. They take massive amounts of money that could be used to help people less fortunate and render it inaccessible. The only difference is that they do it by hiding it away in offshore bank accounts, where it won't even be taxed. The KLF's money had at least already been taxed by the time they burned it.
There should be at least as much anger directed at billionaires from the masses as there was at the KLF.
The existence of billionaires is immoral and a failing of our society.
