Marilyn Monroe and Montgomery Clift on the set of 'The Misfits', 1960.
"People who aren’t fit to open the door for him (Montgomery Clift) sneer at his homosexuality. What do they know about it? Labels – people love putting labels on each other. Then they feel safe. People tried to make me into a lesbian. I laughed. No sex is wrong if there’s love in it." — Excerpt from Conversations with Marilyn by WJ Weatherby, 1961.

really crazy how popular alt genres like ‘grunge’ or ‘emo’ can be breeding grounds of so much misogyny and homophobia, especially considering bands like nirvana and my chemical romance both formed a massive amount of their musical roots/political messages in the exact same 90s lesbian punk spaces.
people commonly cite the inherent homoeroticism in ‘punk’, ‘grunge’, and ‘emo’ (they’re in quotations because, like all genres, they’re pretty blurry categories) as the ironic companion to the all the homophobia, but they rarely talk about the irony of the misogyny as well. yes, danzig inspired a lot of popular alt bands - kathleen hanna had a direct hand in nirvana and my chemical romance being names, even existing, and yet bikini kill aren’t given half as much credit as the misfits are.

Most Popular Podcasts on Ao3 Found in Fandoms > Other Media.
To make this ranking, all series titles in Other Media were copy-pasted to Excel, rearranged according to number of fanworks, and then manually filtered since not all podcasts were marked as such. A few web series like Critical Role (26453 fanworks) and Dimensions 20 (2761 fanworks) released audio-only versions of their works too, but I left them out since they were listed was a web series on ao3 and more known as one too. Thanks for understanding and hopefully I didn’t miss anything! Apologies for any mistakes, I'm still a podcast noob.🙏
ETA: Cabin Pressure is available in podcast format, but upon looking into it further, it was only rereleased as a podcast in 2019, and 90% of the fanworks it has now are from before 2019. It probably should not have been included it in the rankings. I'm sorry for my lack of research;;;

Duke, to Lenore: Excuse me? Who made you the boss of the group?
Pluto: .. You did, Duke. You said "Mon amie! You should be boss!"
Berenice: And then you said "let's vote" and it we all unanimously agreed that Lenore should be boss.
Eulalie: And then we made her this little plaque that said "Boss of the Misfits" and you put little sparkles on it.
Duke: Valid points, all.
