Will drags Mike to see Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” when it’s released in 1989, because he’d heard the music was composed by Howard Ashman and Alan Menkin (Little Shop of Horrors). Despite Mike’s very loud and demonstrative protestations going in, by the end of the movie both Mike and Will are so taken in by the themes of otherness, how nerdy Ariel is, and the theatrics and, well, everything about Ursula, they buy the vhs when it comes out, and Poor Unfortunate Souls becomes yet another song they sing together that annoys the rest of the Party. 🥰
i’m going to cry.

This is how it sneaks up on you. I’m looking for a new phone case.
I keep finding myself holding my phone in ways that make my fingers hurt, so I looked into getting a strap or something for my phone. But the problem is whenever I pictured them on my phone it made me sad because it felt kind of ugly with my case.
And I realized if I’m going to keep not buying a strap because of aesthetics with the current case that it might be better to just get a new case with some kind of strap or finger support already there, so I can address the aesthetic and finger support simultaneously.
And since the whole reason I didn’t just get a loop or something is because it wouldn’t be cute, I might as well get something really cute.
I don’t usually care so much, but when it’s something you look at and interact with every day, you want it to make you smile, or at least not be disappointing.
So I’m shopping around for phone cases. My current case is classy because when I got it I had a weird bug in my ass about looking adult for once. But now I know better and I want something nerdy. Most of what I can find on Etsy that fits my criteria are bootlegs, which I don’t rule out, but I’d rather give my money to more legit independent fan operations. Especially without the presumed art theft.
So I find myself typing in terms. Sailor Moon phone case. Mermaid phone case. Steven Universe phone case. UFO phone case. Beauty and the Beast phone case. Fraggle Rock phone case. Octopus phone case.
What else? What else makes me happy? What do I like that I assume enough other people like that it’s reasonable to hope some genuine indie maker has hand-made something cute for it?
Harry Potter
The answer is there but it’s not true any more. But it’s still there. Like a habitual prayer. Recited so often your brain does it without you, a song stuck in your head. It used to be my favorite song. For a while.
And it’s not like the other things that stopped being fun. Sure, some seasons of Doctor Who disappointed, but I can go back to the ones I like. And that was the show itself that let me down. Sure, people were behind it, but it was the story that wasn’t fun anymore.
Harry Potter finished its story and it was fun from the first book to the last. Sure JKR could retcon and expand and sequel to her hearts content but that didn’t touch the story that had been told, the books that had been published. It was done. She couldn’t take it away.
But she could. And she did. In the worst way possible.
Can you have a parasocial relationship with a franchise?
They are far from perfect books. Even before the controversies spread, the varnish had started to wear off. What am I supposed to do? Tell eleven year old me (hiding in a closet to avoid chores and read the day after Christmas) that she has bad taste? Tell closeted repressed teen queer me who spent hours theorizing with her outcasted queer friends that they couldn’t do that any more? What’s done is done. If Harry Potter had never existed, maybe I would have hauled myself out of Tartarus by other means. Maybe it wasn’t the book, but me. Or maybe in another universe I am far worse off. It doesn’t matter. I’ll never know. While I cannot know what would happen in another timeline, I cannot deny in this one that the formative impact of Harry Potter was an unquestionable good for my life. It was a source of comfort, courage, and community that I had no replacement for.
And I hate that. Because she fed off of it. She took that joy and that enthusiasm and that earnest love and she turned it into power and influence and once she’d stolen all that power and influence she turned it around and abused my people, the community that made me whole. She exploited the excitement and wonder of children to amass power to hate and oppress those same children as they grew up and more children besides.
I think about them. If I’m buying from a maker and not her, then she doesn’t get my money. Does that really hurt?
The question is moot. Putting aside how others might feel in the presence of such an artifact, I would not feel joy. I could get a hand made trans positive Harry Potter case, but whenever I saw it I’d just be thinking about all this again. It’d make me sad. And that is the point, isn’t it? To get a phone case that makes me happy, makes me smile. So it can’t be Harry Potter anyway. Not for me.
I am not wanting for small joys. If it is for want of a themed phone case or fantasy novel, the hole left by her betrayal of the trans community is easily filled. There are, indeed, other books.
But when I think of other lost passions, they do not sting the same way. With them, we grew apart. That happens. Sometimes you grow and your old shoes don’t fit any more. Sometimes they change the recipe of your favorite snack. That’s not a betrayal in the same way.
If tomorrow the creators of any other thing I ever stopped loving came out and said, “Wow, I did a bad job, and I am aware of that, and I’m sorry” it wouldn’t fix the source material. That’s what hurts. They are flawed books, but if tomorrow she sent out a press release going “Wow, I got radicalized like an asshole I’m sorry. That was incredibly transphobic. And I have also been tone deaf to downright colonialist on these many other issues. Here’s major donations to all these relevant nonprofits and an action plan to start repairing the damage” I don’t know if I would forgive her? But I know I would want to. And in either case I know I would finally feel like I might be able to enjoy a reread of the books that meant so much to me.

Poly party summer fun headcanons bc 😄 (I'm sorry I'm advance that this is so fucking long please forgive me) (you can find part 2 here)
Part 1
Pool party:
IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER
- El learns the usage of the word "hot" (regarding attractiveness, not temperature) when she sees Max in a two-piece swimsuit
But then Mike is like "what about me?" cos he's totally jealous and wants El's attention too, but before she can respond Max is like "you're not hot, Mike, you're more like cute in a nerdy kind of way. I guess." and El is like "yeah, you're a cute nerd!" and Mike is like "ex-fucking-cuse me??"
And then Will is like "I think you're hot" and Mike is like "thank you-"
"but you're still a nerd"
"you're a nerd!" and he grabs Will and kind of traps him in this hug and says "but you're a cute nerd" and then a cute kiss
And El is giggling at byler but still staring at Max too, and Max is yelling Byler to get a room, and Lucas is just rolling his eyes at everyone but he also keeps getting distracted looking at Max, and Dustin is yelling at everyone
"for the love of god, can you guys stop flirting for like two minutes and help me set up the snacks??"
And Suzie is like "I'll help you, Dusty-bun"
"you're the best girlfriend in the whole world"
*giggles* "you're the best boyfriend in the whole galaxy!"
"well YOU'RE the best-"
(cos Dustin and Suzie like to do this weird one-upping kind of thing ???)
And then everyone is just like "okay okay, we're coming!" and "we're helping, geez!"
- Max totally helped El shop for and pick out her swimsuit, something that would show off her cute bod and drive Mike crazy (but also herself), and "damn girl, you have no idea how good you look" *wink*
- Lucas pushes Max in the pool
- Max obvsly gets revenger by pushing Lucas in the pool, while he's in the middle of doing something else like conversing, idk
- El wants to get in on the pool-pushing action, so she tries to push mike in the pool, but he grabs hold of her and they both fall in
- Underwater kisses! (with all the ships)
- mad flirting and lots of staring, lol (also with all the ships)
- El and Max sunbathing next to Suzie but they are on towels on the grass instead of a chair bc how are they supposed to get all close to each other on a single chair ??
- sunbathing girls ogling the boys in the pool
- boys in the pool ogling the sunbathing girls
- squirt guns, water balloons, and fights with pool noodles
- Suzie likes to sunbathe and read fantasy novels (she's totally a girly-girl nerd) and Dustin likes to just stop and watch her sometimes bc she's beautiful and also cute and hot, and sometimes she'll catch him watching from the pool or across the yard and they'll smile at each other.
And then she'll say something super cheesy like "I miss you, Dusty-bun" cos technically they are apart from each other. And he starts to say that he misses her too, but then Max/Lucas are like "jesuschrist, you guys are LITERALLY 20 feet away from each other!" and Dustin is just like "hey, I put up with all of your cute couple-y shit!"
- El wants to know what Suzie is reading and Suzie starts telling her the story in great detail (cos she's totally read the book before, it's one of her favorites? WHAT BOOK DO YOU GUYS THINK IT IS, LET ME KNOW) and then she recommends more books for El
- El totally takes control of the big inflatable pool floatie shaped like a duck or a unicorn or idfk
- Mike and Will try to push the floatie over but she clings to it, screaming, and even tho they manage to overturn her she still comes out on top and splashes them to make them stop
- Max helping El defend against the boys by jumping on some backs lol (more like grabbing and hoisting bc it’s hard to jump when in water)
- Max then trying to join El by jumping on the floatie (from the side of the pool), but she just ends up sinking them both
- El also tries doing those mermaid hair flips and just generally her and max doing funny things with both their hair (El wants to be a mermaid)
- pool volleyball, anyone? Or maybe pool basketball??
- Joyce is there to bring them lemonade and the burgers that Jonathan makes and other summer foods bc she is mom of the goddamn century
- chicken fights (top/bottom) (lmk who you think would win, lol)
Max/Lucas vs El/Mike
Will/Mike vs El/Max
Lucas/Dustin vs Max/Mike
Taunts and "insults" are slung, but also cheers, lol
Everyone falls down more often from loss of balance than actual pushing
- "no running around the goddamn pool, or you little shits will face some serious consequences!" (lol sorry I had to put Steve in there, but he's really not threatening at all 😆)
- Marco Polo (and El is totally not allowed to cheat by using her powers) (but even without cheating she's still pretty good, lol)
- sneaking up behind and dunking
- El wearing goggles and just being able to actually look and SEE underwater and it's so cool and beautiful, "but it makes everything sound weird"
- splash fights, and usually more than half the party ends up turning on one or two specific people
- the boys try to do that thing where you dive through inflatable donuts and it basically becomes a contest
Will can successfully dive through one donut, it's mostly just luck tho
"okay, you can dive thru one donut, but can you dive thru two??" (Mike kind of succeeds but he somehow gets his foot stuck and kicks the donut off)
"okay, but can dive thru three???"
And Dustin is like "come on guys, this is getting insane" but he sees the donuts getting stacked and everyone lining up and he's just like *sigh* "goddamnit" cos he knows he has to do it now too, he's not backing down!
El doesn't dive but she successfully pencil jumps thru at least one donut
Max dives thru two-and-a-half donuts (don't even ask me how) and it's not all three, but it's more than any of the boys can do so she totally wins the contest
- when it starts getting late, before everyone goes inside, Joyce takes some photos of all of them while the sun is still out (until Will jokingly begs her to stop), some smiling ones, some silly face ones, and a couple candid ones (Jonathan takes most of the photos tho cos duh)
If you have any ideas or anything to add, please feel free to do so, either by reblogging or my askbox! 👍🏻

Dipper Pines Is Bad At Romance
Adult Dipper x Reader
Warnings - None
Summary - Mable kicks Dipper out for the day and he meets a girl that seems too good to be true
soo i’ve been rewatching gravity falls and I remembered my childhood crush on Dipper so I decided fanfic time
Tumblr media
"Dipper you've been staring at that book for hours!" Mable groans, "stop being so boring!" Dipper rolls his eyes as he moves the book up to cover his face. It's just like Mable to bother him about nothing. I mean he's working on a case he doesn't have time to not be focused. Sure they saved the town- no the world but that doesn't mean she's come to her senses about how they need to focus on these things."Mable I'm kinda busy," Dipper groans.
"You're not busy you're boring!" Mable exclaims.
"I'm not boring I'm trying to help Ford with this investigation," Dipper says at once, "I mean this is important!"
"You know what else is important?" She asks looking over her brother, "socializing, going outside every once in a while. When's the last time you talked to someone that wasn't related to you?"
Dipper thinks for a moment. He can't remember if he's being honest. He's just been working with Ford so he hasn't had time to worry about talking to other people.
"And you reek- have you showered either?" Mable asks him.
"I-"
"No no thats it as your twin I'm putting my foot down," Mable says fiercely, "you're going to go shower-and then I'm making you go into town and socialize!"
"I have a job to do," He says defensively.
"Dipper you're wasting your twenties away!" Mable exclaims, "come on all you've done the last three weeks is work on this. You're just burning yourself out so. You need a break. So I'm forcing you to take one."
"Ugh kid this room's disgusting," Stan groans, "I'm pretty sure it's a biohazard."
"I've almost got it-"
"No you don't," Ford says simply, "Mable you can look over his notes for now, Dipper you need to leave the house."
"But-but-"
"Dipper you are disgusting," Mable says harshly, "come on go into town and I don't know get a coffee or talk to someone. Get some new clothes so we can burn those."
"Hey!"
"Now shower and go!"
Dipper caved. Well is it really caving when you're bulled into it? So he showered and got his car keys from Mable and went in town. If for nothing than get everyone to shut up.
"Well what now," Dipper says as he walks along the sidewalk. His eyes scanning the building, "god why did they have to do this now? I was so close to a break through!"
"Man have I heard this one before," Dipper hears a unfamiliar voice say. He turns to see a girl around his age looking at him with a soft smirk. He's never seen her in town before. Must be new. "Team throw you out even though you were almost there?"
"Family actually," Dipper replies.
"Ouch thats even worse," She adds, "traitors the whole lot of em."
"Tell me about it," Dipper says chuckling lightly, "how do you think I feel."
"Positively filled with despair?" She teases lightly.
"Well I wouldn't go that far," He says with a chuckle, "I haven't seen you around before. You live here in Gravity Falls?"
"Ah I'm fairly new," She shares.
"Pretty random place to decide to move to," He says looking to the girl. She chuckles lightly.
"A friend from college grew up here and had a free room," She tells him, "I love small towns with weird people and thats pretty much the staple here." Dipper chuckles.
"You don't even know that half of it," Dipper says brightly, "I'm Dipper by the way."
"Dipper? Nice name," She says eyeing him closely.
"Nickname actually," He says as he rubs the back of his neck, "ya know one of those childhood nicknames that stick with you for the rest of your life."
"Oh man well at least you've got a cute one," She flirts, "the names Y/n."
"You're really pretty-No! Wait no you are pretty but uh uh- I mean that's a pretty name," Dipper stumbles. She chuckles.
"Thanks," She says giving him a soft smile, "so Dipper how about you and I get a cup of coffee?"
"Uh yeah," He stumbles, "that would be great."
"Come on," Y/n says leading them into the coffee shop. As they get into line his eyes keep on her closely. He's never met anyone so confident like this- well maybe Mable. But she's so much more calm and cool. They get their drinks then take a seat together at one of the tables by the windows. "So Dipper- aren't you Mable's twin?"
"You know my sister?" He asks.
"Oh yeah she's like always at the record store I work at," Y/n says, "she made me a sweater. Honestly I adore her."
"Everyone does," Dipper says softly.
"I'm sure that you hear it all the time," She says to him, "ya know she talks about you a lot. She's been trying to get me to come down the shack to meet you for like three weeks now."
"Whoa really?"
"Yeah she says we'd be good friends," She explains, "something about how we both are nerdy and like the paranormal."
"Paranormal eh?"
"Yeah I'm a paranormal investigator on the side. It's kinda the perfect place for that job," She smiles, "I know you guys aren't supposed to talk about it. But when Pacifica told me all about it-"
"Pacifica? That's your friend!"
"Yeah we were room mates in college," Y/n shares, "she's great for the most part. She told me all about you when you were like what 12? How you used to solve mysterious and helped saved the world."
"Really she talked about me?"
"Pacifica? Oh she talked all the time about the Twins who made her than a spoiled brat-"
"We did didn't we."
"Cocky aren't ya," She smirks, "you're lucky you're cute."
"I'm cute?"
"I thought you knew that already?" She chuckles as she twirls the ends of her h/c hair. Dipper chuckles nervously.
"So what did you major in?"
"I double majored in physics and parapsychology" She answers, "my parents were very confused. What about you?"
"I majored in biochemistry and minored in photographer and film production," He shares, "I loved it and it helped me start producing my online show."
"Online show?" She asks, "thats awesome."
"Yeah awesome," He says blushing brightly.
"I'll check it out sometime," She says smiling. He chuckles nervously again. She's pretty she's making him so nervous. I mean pretty girl who likes the paranormal and already knows about his weird past she's perfect- maybe too perfect. I mean girls aren't really interest in him and I mean she did just pop up out of no where. Oh man she's too good there has to be something wrong with her. She's a murderer, she's Bill! No she can't be. Oh my god is she just a bunch of  gnomes? Or a unicorn? Or a mermaid? "You okay Dipper?"
"Uh yeah I just need to call my sister," He says standing. She nods then looks to her coffee as he slips outside the coffee shop. He moves dialing Mable's number at once. After the third ring she picks up.
"You can't come back yet," Mable groans, "we're still cleaning up your toxic wasteland of a room." Dipper rolls his eyes.
"Listen Mable I think I need you to come into town... Look I met this girl-"
"You met a girl!"
"Mable listen to me!"
"Yeah okay okay listening!"
"I met this girl and she said she knew you but she's like crazy perfect and I think she might be gnomes," Dipper exclaims.
"You should crazy."
"I'm being serious Mable her names Y/n and-"
"Oh my god you met Y/n! Dipper I've been trying to set you two up for weeks!" Mable exclaims, "she's perfect for you! Oh do you like her?"
"Mable you aren't taking this serious!"
"No shes perfect for you!" Mable exclaims, "she's pretty, she's nice, she like mysterious! What's the problem Dipper?"
"She's too perfect!"
Mable sighs loudly. Of course her twin would do something like this. It's Dipper for crying out loud. He'd see a girl so obviously perfect for him then find a reason to mess it up.
"Dipper I'm begging you not to ruin this," Mable says firmly, "I've been setting you guys up for so long now and if you ruin it because you are too paranoid I will make you join that speed dating thing."
"What? Mable no!"
"Dipper you're ruining this! Just give her a chance she's really nice!"
"Too nice!"
"For a guy who's so smart you're kinda dumb."
"Mable," He groans. She sighs. What could she do to convince him that this is a good thing?
"Dipper?"
The boy turns to see the girl in question behind him.
"Y/n hey," Dipper says tensely.
"You think I'm a bunch of gnomes? Like what stacked up in a crop top and jeans?" She teases lightly.
"I'm hanging up now Dipper... Don't mess this up!"
"Mable-"
No use. She already hang up. Dipper sighs as he looks to the girl.
"I just- I don't know I've never met any cute girls who also like the science and the paranormal."
"Your sister was right you are dorky," She says with a chuckle, "listen I'm not a bunch of gnomes or a vampire. Not even a zombie. I'm just me. A normal girl." He avoids her eyes. He feels bad. I mean they were having a good time and he just had to freak out and ruin it like always.
'God dipper why do you always have to do this stuff!' He mentally screams.
"You know I don't meet a lot of cute guys who are into science and the paranormal," She says smirking at him, "I'm still kinda convinced you're a shape shiftier who's trying to get my brain. Paranoia comes with the job. We kinda need to get used to it. Think we can but aside the crazy theories and hang out? If you're like what Mable describes I'm sure we'd have a lot of fun."
"Really?"
"Yeah," She smiles, "I'm thinking you and me go and look at this haunted  mansion a couple towns over."
"Yeah?"
"I think it would be a great first date for us."
"Date?"
"I mean if thats okay?"
He smiles.
"It's okay."

Hi! I love BMO so much. I was wondering how you chose the halloween costumes for each of them. I think Levi going for the same costume each year was so in character lol. Looking forward for the next update!
Hi!
I tried to think of what everyone would do realistically on Halloween and what suited them, and made little backstories in my head to fit...
Mike - Big kid #1
Does couple costumes with Nanaba every year. There's always that one guy at Halloween who looks out of place in a costume but couldn't give a shit because they're having fun. A man as tall as Mike in a tight revealing Peter Pan costume is funny and brave. He loves it because Levi hates it.
Nanaba - Big kid #2
Usually picks the couple costume for herself and Mike. Some years, for het fictional couples, Nanaba likes to dress as the man and Mike as the woman. But this year Mike wanted to be Peter Pan so she was Tinkerbell to fit. I see her as very pixie-like in general (probably because of her haircut lol)
Hange - Big kid #3
Goes all out for Halloween every year. Spends too much money making extravagant costumes that she only wears once. Really enjoys being able to experiment with costumes and feels 100x more confident at Halloween than other holidays. Hange was channeling her heritage as Meg from Hercules and honestly she would make a sexy af drop dead gorgeous goddess statuesque Meg. Meg is her favourite disney princess, followed by Mulan, then Belle. Her mum made her dress up as Princess Jasmine when she was younger and Hange's hated Jasmine ever since.
Marie - Make Up Guru
Loves dressing up and playing with costume makeup, and will spend money on new costume make up every year. Likes couple costumes because they're sweet. Went all out to be Harley Quinn
Erwin - Indifferent
Does whatever Marie wants as he doesn't have time to put together a costume himself, let alone think about it. Is lucky to have her arrange everything for him. Let's Marie apply make up and do his hair. Doesn't care what he looks like. Thinks adults who dress up are adorable. He really loves getting to eat sweets at Halloween and goes to the supermarkets to buy discounted sweets when Halloween is over. I made him the Joker because of the ~vibes~. and so levi could call him a pyscho.
Levi - The Hater
He only dressed up one year on the advice of a counsellor (have fun with your friends, you might even enjoy it!!!). He googled 'vampire costume' because it's basic af. He copied the resulting image from Interview with the Vampire, but had no idea it was from a film. Enjoys shopping for suits, so he spent a fortune on the outfit. The concept of adult's dressing up pisses him off. He didn't understand why it made everyone so happy when he dressed up for the time. He cares enough about his friends to carry on dressing up every year, but not enough to buy a new costume. I just wanted an excuse to make him wear a cravat and frilly shirt cos its sexy af.
Nifa - The Inbetweener
Every year she gets torn between having an extravagant nerdy costume and a pretty costume. Usually goes for something in between, so Blossom from Powerpuff Girls.
Oyankonpon - Clueless #1
Thought Halloween was an American thing and assumed Hange was joking when she told him she was going to put cobwebs all over her flat. He bumped into Moblit in the stairwell before the party and was given a pirate eyepatch. Apparently, it was for his own good.
Moblit - Clueless #2/Sad Idiot
Only started dressing up for Halloween when he met Hange. He intended to dress up for the party but genuinely forgot. He picked up a pirates eyepatch and a pair of cat ears (as an emergency backup) from the petrol station for £1 each out of guilt and shame. Moblit bumped into Oyankopon in the stairwell and felt sorry for him. He knew Oyankopon would suffer Hange's wrath if he showed up without a costume, so he sacrificed himself and gave Oyankopon the eyepatch, leaving the cat ears for himself.
Oluo - Clueless #3/Hater
Dislikes Halloween and hadn't worn a costume since he was a kid but he overheard Nanaba and Petra discussing couple costumes at work and decided to surprise Petra. He had to google The Little Mermaid and was thrilled to see how low-effort Prince Eric was. He didn't know Levi was dressing up and would have gone to more effort if he knew. He was severely embarrassed when they laughed at him. it almost ruined the night but he got over it by drinking punch.
Petra - Fashionable Costumes Only
She's the type who doesn't mind dressing up with her friends, but doesn't get fully invested because it's a bit too silly and she wants to look good for instagram. Prefers to wear costume inspired outfits over full on costumes. Hence the low key Ariel.

It is excruciatingly hard to create when you are under this constant duress.
Now is a great time to remind the Black artists and authors in our lives how vital and brilliant they are through direct support.  Buy some books, buy some art, fall in love with them, promote and hype it, now and forever.
Some suggestions, mostly indie but a few mainstream because we all have different tastes, very heavily in comics and pop culture because that's where I am:
Children's books: https://believeinwonder.weebly.com/ Brian W. Parker is the best children's book illustrator you haven't heard of yet (unless you have heard of him then you already know) https://notsosuper.pub/collections/all https://gumroad.com/backthatelfup (Tristan J Tarwater's Hen and Chick is the middle grade mother-daughter pirate adventure you need) https://sasquatchbooks.com/little-bigfoot/books/curious-encounters/ (I'm honored to have met Jessixa Bagley before she was famous-well, as famous-and she has a new book out and you should buy all of them and die from the cuteness and poignancy!) https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/624860/brown-sugar-babe-by-charlotte-watson-sherman-illustrated-by-akem/ https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/567578/julian-is-a-mermaid-by-jessica-love/ https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/585658/hair-love-by-matthew-a-cherry-illustrated-by-vashti-harrison/ Leo Dillon has left us but the work he and Diane Dillon created made me the artist I am today and all fantastical illustrators owe him a debt. https://www.harpercollins.com/9780064430975/honey-i-love-and-other-love-poems/
Comics: https://notsosuper.pub/collections/all (Jacques Nyemb does everything so he has to be everywhere <3 ) https://powerandmagicpress.com/ (Joamette Gil helms this publisher that makes intensely beautiful and important work) https://weirdenoughcomics.com/ (great kids' comics and education resource!) https://gumroad.com/backthatelfup (I love Shamsee and also Tristan writes RPGS!) https://onipress.com/products/archival-quality (library ghost!!!) https://www.princesslovepon.com/  (magical girl perfection by Shauna J Grant) https://agentsoftherealm.com/ (college-age magical girls by Mildred Louis) https://www.powells.com/book/-9781683830047 (M F K by Nilah Macgruder, stunning) https://us.macmillan.com/series/checkplease/ (Ngozi Ukazu's cute, snappy, feel-good gay hockey comic!) https://www.patreon.com/dakkycomics www.facebook.com/dakkycomics (a local who I was lucky to meet in person at a con last year--Dakky's comics are so good, and taking inspiration from fonts is just wildly cool)

Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Chapter 3 (Crygi, Jan x Nicky) - Joley

tumblr link
It was well into the middle of the night when Crystal let herself into Jan’s room. She hesitated, unsure if she really needed to bother her friend with her problems. But the anxiety of being alone with her thoughts any longer won out and she gently placed her hand on Jan’s shoulder, slowly shaking her awake.
Jan was sleeping on her side, facing away from Crystal, but she flopped onto her back as her eyes opened, though not all the way at first. “Huh?” she rubbed her eyes, though with it being completely dark and her glasses on her nightstand, she didn’t actually see anything beyond the vaguest details. What she could make out was just enough for her to be reassured that she was, in fact, looking at Crystal and not a sleep paralysis demon.
“I can’t sleep,” Crystal explained, sitting down at the edge of the bed and running a hand through her hair. She sat hunched over and looked down. “I feel like I’m freaking myself out over nothing, like I’m going crazy.”
“Oh, sweetie…” There was sympathy in Jan’s voice, and she sat up quickly, pausing only to adjust her tank top so she wasn’t still partially exposed. She shifted over in bed so Crystal could lay comfortably, waiting until her roommate was looking and gesturing for her to do so. “You’re not going crazy, okay? Tell me what’s on your mind.”
Crystal laid down and curled up against her friend’s side. “I’m worried that something’s gonna go wrong and Gigi’s going to end up hating me, or I’m just going to fall irrevocably in love with her and she’s gonna find out and never talk to me again,” she confessed.
Jan frowned. “Hey, you listen to me,” she said gently, brushing Crystal’s hair off of her face. “Your friendship with Gigi is incredibly strong, you guys are close. I don’t think she could ever hate you, especially over feelings you can’t control. Maybe worst case scenario, she doesn’t feel the same way. I don’t think she would just drop you like that. I don’t think that for a second.”
It did make Crystal feel a little better, because she could tell Jan meant everything she said. That was one thing she could always count on from her—sincerity. She believed it was part of why Jan was so naturally kind and thoughtful. “I hope you’re right, I just… I hate to think of who I’d be without her.”
“You’d still be you,” Jan replied without missing a beat. “You’d still be Crystal Elizabeth Methyd, and no crush could ever change that.”
“Thanks, Jan,” she exhaled, expression settling into a warm smile. She hugged her tightly, still staying close when she let go. “You know, maybe if this doesn’t work out, and we’re still single in ten years…”
Jan giggled and kissed the top of her head. “We’ll elope in Vegas,” she playfully promised, nudging Crystal’s side with her knee. “Now let’s get to sleep.”
Jan had raced back to the apartment after her morning class, from the outside it looked like she had an emergency to attend to. But no, it was a text from Nicky that read ‘skype me when you can, i have something to show you :),’ and she certainly couldn’t keep her waiting.
After a quick freshen up, Jan sat in front of her laptop and called Nicky. “Hi, sweetie. What’s going on?” she asked brightly.
Nicky seemed just as excited to hear from her. “I finally perfected a new song, and I learned it because it makes me think of you,” she explained, practically bouncing in her seat. “I’m going to start now, yes?” She waited for the go-ahead from Jan before playing the music and starting to sing.
And Jan recognized the song instantly, “Hey There Delilah,” and she thought it was very cute. Obviously it was because she lived in New York City–there was no other explanation that she could come up with. She knew how much Nicky likes little referential things like that, how the songs she picks are always for a specific reason, and she found it so endearing.
When the song was done, Jan applauded gleefully. She loved Nicky’s singing voice; it was softer and more subdued than her own, which she found pleasant and relaxing. “Aw, that was so sweet. And you’ve been sounding so good lately, I’m fully impressed.”
“You’re not just saying that?” Nicky asked, grinning from ear to ear. “Because you can tell me if I need to improve on anything.”
“I’m not just saying anything, gorg,” she readily assured. “I know you can handle constructive criticism, but you totally don’t even need it. And that was such a cute song choice.”
Nicky had a slightly strained look on her face, one that could’ve read ‘I have more to say’ if Jan had picked up on it. But she was able to swallow her thoughts with her penpal none the wiser. “I was hoping you would think so.”
“I swear, I’m gonna find a pretty French song and learn it for you,” Jan promised. She had mentioned it before, but had yet to actually sit down and follow through. While she could pick up an English song pretty quickly, singing in another language would take extra time and effort, which, of course, she would put in for Nicky in a heartbeat.
“I would love to see that,” she beamed, the fact that Jan would go out of her way to learn a song in a language she didn’t speak made her feel all sorts of warm and fuzzy inside. “I could give you suggestions if you want.”
Jan shook her head and waved her hands in front of her face. “No, no, no, I want it to be a surprise. I’ll just keep searching until I find the right one, it’ll come to me, and then you’ll be wooed.”
“What is ‘wooed’?”
Realizing what she had said brought a blush to Jan’s face, and she had to think fast, lest she try to explain her way out of that. “It means impressed.”
Nicky didn’t question that, just nodding along. Jan must have been used to filling in the blanks with her English, and she was always so kind about it. “I know I will be. Anyway, I have to get going, but I’ll talk to you later,” she said, and their call ended soon after.
Crystal looked around as she and Gigi walked into the secondhand store. She couldn’t quite explain how, but it was just different from the ones she would frequent. It was more organized, less weird. Considering they came here with a specific purpose, it was probably for the best. They couldn’t get too distracted—they were on the hunt for something they could pass off as a wedding dress for Crystal.
“It doesn’t have the usual thrift store smell,” Crystal observed as she looked around.
Gigi tilted her head as her brows knitted together. “Which is…”
“Mothballs, mostly.”
“Duly noted.” Gigi nodded, a soft laugh mixed into her words. “Hopefully you’ll be able to make do without smelling like a grandma’s attic,” she said as they walked through the store, off to the side where the nicer dresses were kept.
Crystal looked through the racks, only to realize after sifting through prom dresses that all the wedding dresses were kept towards the other end. “Wow, these are nice.”
“You pick out whichever one you like, baby,” Gigi cooed playfully. She came around to the whole fake relationship thing quick enough, and she did get a kick out of teasing Crystal about it. “Just as long as the one you like is within the two hundred dollar budget.”
“Don’t worry, I’m a cheap date.” After about ten minutes of browsing, Crystal’s eyes locked on a dress and went wide. “That one. That has to be it,” she said, grabbing it off the rack and running into the dressing room before Gigi could even get a good look at it. She had one of the store employees lace the back up, wanting it to be a surprise for her “fiancée.”
Crystal walked back out with a broad grin on her face and rosiness in her cheeks. “Okay, what do you think?” She twirled around to show off the dress. It was elegant, yet playful - a strapless with a straight-across neckline, mermaid style with ruffles of tulle as the tail.
Gigi’s eyes went wide and her jaw dropped. It was like the moment in a romantic comedy where the nerdy girl gets a makeover and the popular guy realizes she was the one for him all along. But it wasn’t a makeover, it was still the Crystal she knew, just in a pretty dress. And she would never consider herself shallow enough to let someone’s appearance change her perception of them, but something about the way her best friend looked in a wedding dress that fit like it was tailored to her body just made her feel something. “You look amazing!”
“You really think so?” she finally stood in place after being too excited to stop twirling around. “I know I’d have to wear like, a better bra, but other than that, it’s perfect.”
“Perfect is exactly the word I’d use,” Gigi agreed, collecting herself so she no longer felt so breathless. “Get changed and we can go pay for it,” she said as she helped Crystal off the platform that was set in front of the mirrors.
Crystal felt like she was on cloud nine as they left the store. It may not have been her actual wedding she was shopping for, but the way that dress made her feel gave her a rush of excitement either way. Sure, part of that might have been due to the fact that it allowed her to further indulge in the fantasy that she and Gigi were actually together, but she wasn’t about to let that detail ruin her mood.
“We should have a photoshoot,” Gigi mused, already planning it out in her mind. “I have a photographer friend that owes me a favor, we could set up something cute in the park.”
“Oh, I love that,” Crystal nodded. While yes, it would help make the fake wedding more believable, she was more interested in the idea that she would have a tangible reminder of herself and Gigi posed as an engaged couple. If nothing ever came of this, at least she would be able to look back and pretend or think about ‘what if.’
Gigi checked her phone. “I’ll text them later.” She shoved her hands into her pockets as they walked back towards Crystal’s apartment. “How do you think people know when they’re in love?” she asked casually, looking up at the sky.
Crystal’s heart leapt into her throat and she swallowed thickly to push it back into place. She wanted to answer honestly, but she also didn’t want to give too good of a description and make  Gigi suspicious. “I don’t think it’s the same for anyone,” she mused. “I think it’s like… You’re just hanging out with someone just like any other day, then they look at you and smile and you suddenly realize you want them more than anyone in the world.”
“Huh, that makes a lot of sense. Usually I have to get you high to get that sort of whimsy out of you,” she hummed, bumping shoulders with her.
“What about you?” Crystal took the focus off of herself as soon as she could. “How do you think people know when they’re in love?”
Gigi pressed her lips into a fine line, wondering why she asked something she didn’t have her own answer to. “I think the world just becomes a little brighter. You know, the sun shines brighter, the flowers seem to bloom more, the air feels lighter. Like… just existing feels better because you’re in love,” she told her.
“I guess love songs make a whole lot of sense when you put it that way.” Crystal had to admit, something about Gigi’s description made her heart melt. Sure, she knew it didn’t mean Gigi felt that way at all, let alone about her. But the sentiment, the fact that Gigi didn’t look at love as cynically as she had in the past, sent a pleasant chill through her body.
“You’d think that people would have had enough of silly love songs,” Gigi joked in an almost-singing tone, then looked at Crystal expectantly.
And Crystal didn’t miss a beat. “I look around me and I see it isn’t so,” she cooed, not attempting to sing.
They both laughed at the sheer corniness of that, but at the same time found each other to be endearing for it.
Once again, it was late at night. This time Crystal and Jan were on Crystal’s bed, as it was just a bit bigger than Jan’s (as the trade-off, Jan had the better view), sitting cross-legged with the leftover takeout they were still picking at between them.
“Are you in love with Nicky?” Crystal asked between forkfuls of fried rice.
Jan, on the other hand, set her fork down to think. “I don’t know,” she admitted. “I have such strong feelings for her… But to be in love with someone, I feel like, requires some sort of reciprocity, and I have no idea how she feels.” She hadn’t given too much thought into defining her feelings towards Nicky; usually, if she thought about it for too long, she would be overwhelmed with yearning and just end up feeling sad.
“What about unrequited love?”
“It’s different,” Jan shook her head. “That’s just loving someone. To be in love with someone isn’t something you can do on your own, at least in my opinion.” She paused to finish her food. “Why? Do you think you’re in love with Gigi?”
Crystal shrugged, setting the now empty containers on her end table. “Dunno, guess that’s why I asked. I think I do love her in a way, I just can’t explain it, but it’s definitely why pretending to plan a wedding with her has felt like… If I could bottle this feeling and get high off of it, I’d never need weed again.”
Jan nodded as she laid down. “I think that’s sweet.” She smiled. “It’s kind of like being able to play out a fantasy, huh?”
“Maybe.” She chuckled. “Most of the fantasies I’ve had about Gigi can’t exactly be acted out in public, you know.”
“Not with that attitude.”
Crystal laughed and shoved Jan playfully. “Shut up!”
Jan giggled lightly, then picked her head up and dropped it on Crystal’s lap. “We’re kind of stupid, aren’t we?” She sighed.
“You’re just realizing that now? I came to terms with that years ago.” She looked down at Jan, lightly playing with her hair. “But think of it this way, our lives wouldn’t be nearly as interesting if we had a normal amount of functioning brain cells.”
“I guess so.” Jan looked up at Crystal. “Will you teach me how to smoke? At least that way I’ll have an excuse for the lack of brain function.”
Crystal laughed and nodded, opening her drawer to take out her pipe and stash. “Wow, I can’t believe this is driving you to drugs,” she teased, sitting Jan back upright before packing a bowl. “I’ll go first, okay? Watch me,” she said before lighting up and taking a hit.
Jan watched attentively, making sure she mimicked her roommate’s movements to a T. So when Crystal handed her the pipe, she was able to take a hit and only coughed a little bit. “Did I do it right?” she asked, handing the pipe back and fanning the smoke away from her face.
“Honestly, you did better than I expected. Good job,” Crystal praised, taking another hit. “Go open the window, though.”
“Yay, you know how important doing a good job is to me.” Jan hummed as she got up and opened the window, taking a moment to look down at the city below. Maybe it was the high, but everything suddenly seemed so much more interesting. “We live in such a cool place, don’t we?”
Crystal laughed, laying back to watch her. “Some say it’s the greatest city in the world. And I only have Springfield to compare it to, so it may as well be.”
Jan threw herself back onto the bed. “I’m sure Missouri has some redeeming qualities,” she offered.
“I guess.” She shrugged. “But Manhattan has my two favorite girls in it, so it’ll never measure up.”
“Aw, I love how mushy you get when you’re high.” Jan hummed and poked her cheek. “Everything is gonna work out for you and Gigi, I just know it,” she added, booping her nose instead.
Crystal set the pipe back in her drawer and pulled Jan to lay with her. “And you and Nicky will be French kissing in no time,” she promised. She looked at her friend fondly, amused at how Jan seemed to get especially touchy-feely when she got high, and she honestly needed a bit of affection after the emotional roller-coaster she had been on when it came to Gigi. If nothing else, she and Jan would come away from this with their friendship stronger than ever.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered | (3/?)
Title: Signed, Sealed, Delivered Summary:   Jan is in love with her French pen pal, Nicky. Her roommate, Crystal, is in love with her best friend, Gigi. A (perhaps ill-thought out) plan emerges: give Nicky a reason to visit by inviting her to Crystal and Gigi’s wedding. With a month to pull the scheme together, no one knows how this will end up. Word Count: ~2.9k (this chapter) / ~8.6k (total) Relationship(s): Sportsdoll (Jan Sport/Nicky Doll), Crygi (Crystal Methyd/Gigi Goode Rating: T (so far)

as always, thanks to @janssports for beta-ing ♥

“You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs,” Gigi joked in an almost-singing tone, then looked at Crystal expectantly.
And Crystal didn’t miss a beat. “I look around me and I see it isn't so,” she cooed, not attempting to sing.

If nothing else, she and Jan would come away from this with their friendship stronger than ever.

Stella Profile
Here’s the next one out of the group! I really like how this one turned out. I hope you enjoy it too!
Name: Stella Evangeline Anastasia de la Luxinne
Age: 17
Gender: Female (she/her)
Birthday: August 18
Sexuality: Pansexual Polyamorous
Magic: Light
Astrological Sign: Mermaid
Status: Princess
Occupation: Student
Affiliation: Alfea College for Fairies, Royal Family of Solaria
Planet of Origin: Solaria
Hobbies: Fashion designing, shopping, swimming, doing makeup, sketching
Family: Radius Apollo de la Luxinne (Father), Luna Inana de la Luxinne (Mother)
Position in Team: Second-in-Command
Pixie: Amore, Pixie of Love
Likes: Sunny weather, being sarcastic, fashion, making friends, being outdoors
Dislikes: Rain, snow, separation, loneliness, the dark
Appearance: Stella stands at roughly 5’9”, though she looks taller most of the time due to her love of heels. She has tanned skin after spending her life on a warm, sunny planet. She has the curvy hourglass figure most magazine covers flaunt and shapely limbs to make her look like a model. Stella’s eyes are a brownish hazel color, and she has lengthy blonde hair with bangs over her forehead. She has defined facial features to go along with her conventionally attractive appearance. Her ears aren’t very pointed when compared to some of the other characters’, making her look a bit more human. Stella tends to wear cropped shirts to show off her figure, though she is self-conscious about the way her stomach looks, something she does her best to hide when she has a particularly bad day. Her clothing shows off a lot of skin whether it be a shirt or skirt due to the bright, sunny planet that she grew up on. Stella enjoys wearing heels for shoes to add a bit of extra height and make her seem more imposing, though she’s usually 5’11” at tallest with her heels since she thinks any taller of heels aren’t that practical.
Personality: Stella, at least on the outside, comes off as a stereotypical popular girl. She seems superficial and boy-crazy, always going after the week’s most attractive guy her age. She’s openly obsessed with the way she looks and has a passion for fashion above all else. Stella can get sarcastic and defensive easily, almost to the point of being blunt or rude at times. Behind this mask, however, Stella is a much softer, more sensitive girl. She fears being treated as an outcast or being tossed aside since she’s always believed her worth is found in how valid others believe her to be. Years of bullying transformed her into a young woman who taught herself to fake confidence rather than actually feel it. She’s much smarter and nerdy than she would originally show, not wanting to be made fun of by others for her stranger interests. Stella’s passion for clothing design is the one thing that isn’t fake, as she’s always loved making clothing for herself since she sees it as a perfect outlet for her creativity that won’t lead to her being picked on. Stella suffers from dysmorphia, having been made fun of for her body in the past. She hates getting comments on her body since she was picked on for weighing more as a child. Her obsession with appearance is a defensive mechanism to keep from being made fun of again for her weight or other aspects of her appearance. She gets snarky and sarcastic quickly since she uses it to defend herself from those who might want to hurt her, which can cause her to get snippy at times. Stella opens up more to people who show legitimate interest in her as a person rather than just her future power or appearance, and she lets herself be vulnerable about her hidden insecurities around them.
Background: Stella was born into an unhappy marriage between her parents, Radius and Luna. Radius and Luna were set up in an arranged marriage when they were children, and while they were friends growing up, being forced to live together by the politicians of Solaria drove them apart. They fought often, and Stella grew apart from them after years of listening to them bicker. She ate out of stress to keep from thinking about how horrible her family’s dynamic was, causing her to become overweight. When she went to school after a particular summer of horrible overeating, Stella was bullied and picked on relentlessly. Stella suffered greatly for not being conventionally attractive between her needing glasses and weighing more than her classmates. She grew to suffer from dysmorphia as a result. She was also teased for her interests in stereotypically ‘nerdy’ or ‘masculine’ subjects such as sports or painting. Stella grew to resent both such subjects after years of their being the cause of her harassment. She got sick of all the bullying after years, not going to her parents about it since she knew it would cause an argument. She thought they had more important things to think about as well. To keep from getting hurt further, Stella forced herself to keep from eating for quite a while, causing her to become sickly and incredibly thin. She wound up in the hospital from her lack of food at one point when she was thirteen, and she told her parents about everything she had been suffering from. After this, Stella was told by Radius and Luna that she’s never going to not be worth their time and that she deserves to be happy regardless of what other people say. Stella’s unhealthy habits disappeared soon after this, and she got into the habit of telling herself that eating and being happy with herself is the least she can do for herself. While Stella is still seen as ultimately shallow, she isn’t openly mocked anymore, which as far as she is aware, is an improvement. She’s gotten better about loving herself since then as well, though she’s still not the best with expressing her feelings. Her parents announced their divorce the year before she started at Alfea, and while she’s been struggling to a life without both of her parents around all the time, she keeps in contact with them both since even if their marriage failed, they love Stella more than anything else in the world. She attended Alfea the year before the story starts but wound up leaving at semester after suffering from some mental health issues and struggles with her dorm mates. She returned the following year, gladly accepted by the school.
Other: Stella enjoys eating sweets when she’s not enjoying healthier foods, and after she eats a lot of sweets, she’s often seen going for a jog. She usually thinks over things while out on a run, which she does earlier on in the morning when the sun is first rising. This is the earliest Stella ever wakes up, as she’s never been a night owl or morning bird, instead preferring to sleep through both of these phases. She hides her grades from most people to try and fit in out of fear of being made fun of. In truth, Stella gets some of the best grades at Alfea, not that she’d ever tell anyone such. She enjoys tennis, and even if she was teased for liking sports as a child, she’s been getting back into it recently with Aisha and Flora. She also enjoys watching some animated shows (some cartoons, some anime), a guilty pleasure she shares with Tecna.
Position in Team: Stella acts as the second-in-command for the group and Bloom’s right hand. Stella is more pessimistic than Bloom is most of the time due to being harassed as a child so frequently, but she and the others have learned to let loose and joke around more. Stella offers a unique viewpoint due to her jaded experiences of the past, and she’s often the one who takes over with keeping everyone in line when Bloom has other things to take care of, proving to be a capable leader in her own right.
Dynamics:
Bloom: Bloom and Stella have grown to be close friends since they grew up as outcasts. They hide their feelings to keep up a strong face for others, but they’ve learned to relax and be happy around one another. Both consistently encourage one another to pursue their dreams, always the other’s biggest cheerleader. Bloom and Stella enjoy talking about relationships a lot, having similar tastes in both boys and girls, making relationships the subject of many a late night discussion.
Flora: Flora was able to see through Stella’s mask nearly right away, and she decided to do everything in her power to help Stella to embrace her true self as soon as possible. Flora encouraged Stella to take up tennis again after she distanced herself from the sport as a team, and the two enjoy taking up matches together. Stella often vents out her frustrations as the two play. Flora and Stella often share their insecurities together when times get tough, leading to a quiet, unspoken bond between the two.
Musa: Musa and Stella are much more similar than either one of them would care to admit. They both get defensive easily and hide their pain behind a mask of confidence. While they were both lonely as kids, Stella’s was against her will while Musa embraced the silence. They’re both slowly working on getting over their past issues, even if the development is quieter than one would expect. Musa and Stella often share beta versions of songs and designs to get unbiased input.
Tecna: Stella and Tecna enjoy sharing guilty pleasures often. Stella’s interests from her childhood have only increased since she joined the Winx Club, and Tecna is the perfect person for Stella to indulge in stereotypically ‘nerdy’ habits with. They watch some animated shows late into the night, both of them predicting what will happen (though Tecna is right more often than not). Stella often makes fun of the characters’ fashion senses, something that makes Tecna laugh nearly nonstop.
Aisha: Aisha and Stella are both princesses who got into traditionally masculine subjects when they were growing up, and lucky for them, they have the same hidden passion: sports. Aisha is the only one of the girls who can rival Stella’s competitive spirit when they play sports (tennis being their favorite, something they often drag Flora into). They dance quite a bit together as well and have gained a reputation as the best dancers at Alfea, often indulging in couples-based dances at parties just to show off.
Roxy: By the time Roxy meets Stella, the latter has developed greatly and moved past her issues with bullying and dysmorphia. When Roxy struggles under the cruelty of some teenagers on Earth, Stella is the first one to go to her aid, helping Roxy with everything she has. Stella and Roxy have gained a mutual respect for one another through this, and while nobody knows exactly what they talk about late into the night, the general consensus is that it’s vulgar and violent alike.
Diaspro: Stella’s relationship with Diaspro is interesting to say the least. Stella first met Diaspro when the engagement between her and Sky was announced, and while Stella was upset at first, she mellowed her anger to not hate to Diaspro since what happened wasn't her fault. The two wound up getting closer due to their common interests in fashion and their past issues with hiding their true selves. They gossip together often and have spilled much drama to one another, though nobody is quite sure what.
Sky: Stella met Sky when she was going to Alfea for the first time. She didn't talk to him much, but they kept in touch even after she left the school behind. She hung out with him and the rest of the boys often. Stella was angry with him for quite some time after hearing he was engaged to Diaspro, but she eventually relaxed her grudge, though it took some time. Stella is very protective of Bloom where Sky is concerned and gives him the ‘don't hurt her’ spiel often even if she knows he wouldn't hurt her on purpose.
Brandon: Stella and Brandon hit it off immediately, becoming friends quickly. His friendly nature helped her to become more trusting, and she opened up to him much faster than she usually does with new people. He helped her through her insecurities easily, and they have a quiet, mutual understanding of one another. Stella doesn't mind his lack of royal status, caring more about who he is as a person and the fact that he respects her as an individual and not a pawn for power.
Riven: Riven is Stella’s least favorite of the Specialists. She doesn't get along with him at all, finding him to be too rude for no reason. She can get equally as defensive, but she still makes it clear that she's trying to get better where he has made no such thing obvious. Even after Riven starts to get better and pull back on his jealousy and anger problems, Stella still doesn't talk to him much, not seeing a reason to. They don't argue as much as they once did when Stella first entered the picture, but their relationship could be better.
Timmy: Timmy and Stella didn't talk much when they first met. Timmy was shy and awkward, and Stella didn't know how to approach him. After some time, Stella started making moves to improve her relationship with him by reaching out. Timmy showed Stella the glory of animation her first semester at Alfea, and they had movie nights often. Timmy and Stella don't tell anybody about this at first since Stella is still sheepish about it, but they share many secret glances as reference jokes to their fun nights.
Helia: Helia and Stella have a surprisingly strong relationship. He saw her drawing out fashion sketches at one point, and the rest was history. He got her back into drawing, and they meet up from time to time to sketch. They also have the same interest in manga (a guilty pleasure of Stella’s) and exchange copies in between lengthy discussions about the stories. Stella also helps Helia to become closer to Flora, wanting the best for them both in her own little way.
Nabu: Stella and Nabu mostly get along because of Aisha. Stella’s over the top behavior can get to be a bit much at times, but she tones it down around Nabu so as not to frustrate Aisha. Stella is overall playful with Nabu, always trying to help him out with his relationship with Aisha. Whether they're friends or more, Nabu is happy with it, and Stella supports him fully, though this doesn't mean she'll tone down her joking. They sometimes have trolling competitions, just as a way of messing with each other with no malicious intent.
Radius: Radius and Stella were distant during her childhood. Since Radius had the responsibilities of a king combined with the issues of his marriage, there wasn't much time for Stella at first. When she showed signs of struggling with such, Radius did his best to become closer to her, and they've bonded as a result. Radius thinks of Stella as the light of his life, and he’d do anything for her. Especially after the divorce, they're closer than ever before.
Luna: Even with the divorce, Luna and Stella have remained close. Luna saw how much Stella was suffering and did as much as she could to make Stella’s life easier despite the divorce. Luna has been helping Stella through her past issues with dysmorphia by reassuring her as much as possible that she deserves better than what other people have told her before. Luna and Stella call each other each week and talk all about their lives, even if they don't see each other in person as often.
Amore: While Amore’s power is over love, her magic isn't exclusively based around romance. Amore became so attached to Stella since she could tell the fairy needed somebody to return the love she gave to do many, and Amore was happy to oblige. Amore and Stella love each other quite a bit, putting other pixie bonds to shame. They both tend to put forth a lot more than they get back, but they're always there to pick reach other back up when something goes wrong.

A list for @vann-haal of some romance/love-stories! These are just a few that I know well/personally own, so it isn’t the most complete list ever (and I’m sure you’ve seen most of them). I’ll put them under a cut with a small explanation for each. Hope you find at least a couple new ones you like~
Animated-
the Sea Prince and the Fire Child (1981)- this one is fairly obscure, but I somehow managed to get it on video when I was young, and it is a favorite of mine. It is a fantasy story, somewhat similar to Romeo and Juliet with a dash of the Little Mermaid, and a whole new vibe of its own. A child of the sea falls in love with a child of fire, the two only able to meet at night, and always in danger of being caught as their two peoples don’t get along. Very bitter-sweet, and sad at times, but also cute
Shrek (2001)- we all remember this one for totally twisting the fairytale trope “love made her beautiful”, but we still got a happily ever after~
the Book of Life (2014)- I adore the animation and character design, and I find the love story so amusing because if other people didn’t keep messing things up, the two romantic interests would very smoothly be able be able to fall in love without conflict... but, y’know, stuff happens
Gnomeo and Juliet (2011)- I think this one got ignored for having such a silly title and being using a well-known plot, but it is genuinely adorable and funny, knows exactly how silly it is and owns it. We also get to see the two legit fall in love, and try to stay in love
Sailor Moon Promise of the Rose (1993)- pretty much any Sailor Moon movie has a love theme, but this one is my favorite. We see how much Sailor Moon means to all her friends, plus I am just forever entertained that you could describe the plot as “Guy doesn’t know his childhood friend had a scrush on him, childhood friend comes back to steal guy from current girlfriend”
Doug’s 1stMovie (1999)-  because the show always featured Doug’s crush on Patti, that becomes a core issue of the plot. He keeps trying to impress her when he should be more worried about other problems, and his selfish behavior accidentally drives her away. Once he calms down and acts honestly, it becomes obvious she cares for him, too
the Prince of Egypt (1998)- the romance is just one aspect of this amazing movies, but it feels real
the Princess and the Frog (2009)- I’m a sucker for both “They don’t get along at first” and “They both help each other find what they need” tropes~
the Swan Princess (1994)- how utterly clueless the main guy is almost frustrating, but he finally comes through at the end, and expresses his feelings in really touching words
Anastasia (1997)- this has a slow-burn going on, plus an “I love you but can’t tell you” element, and the interactions between the romantic leads are always entertaining
Quest for Camelot (1998)- the girl is both very determined and also a disaster, the guy is trying very hard to be the strong siltent type, but she won’t stop talking to him so it isn’t working, and they both just keep saving each other
Beauty and the Beast (1991)- I think we all know this one pretty well, but it is one of my favorites. I just love that from the get-go Belle doesn’t take any nonsense from the Beast, and once he learns to chill, he’s an adorable dork for her
Aladdin (1992)- another well known movie, but also one I love. The Wish definitely didn’t need to be so complicated, but it was, and a comedy of errors ensues. The actual love story is so simple and sweet, even in the middle of all the shenanigans
Megamind (2010)- you know exactly why this is here~
 Live Action-
the Princess Bride (1987)- a love story where the two romantic interests only get to spend very little time together, and they are probably even more frustrated about that than we are
Hairspray (2007)- a few different love stories going on, all unique and cute in their own ways, with really great music as well
Little Shop of Horrors (1986)- this might seem like it has the story of a “nerdy nice guy who wishes a pretty girl wasn’t into a bad boy”, but he actually IS a nice guy, and the love between them really works. Plus songs about a plant who eats blood, what more could you want
Runaway Bride (1999)- this movie will always amuse me, because it has almost the same cast as Pretty Woman, but I personally like this one better. It can be hard for somebody to trust the words “I love you” when they haven’t been acting like themselves for the other person
Love Simon (2018)- I’m somebody who doesn’t like a lot of teen-rom-coms, but I REALLY like this one~
But I’m a Cheerleader (1999)- the characters manage to find love, even when everybody around them keeps insisting it is wrong, they realize it is right
the Mummy (1999)- this whole movie has really great character interactions, and the love interests are no exception
the Addams Family (1991)- there are few other couples that could match the sheer passion of Gomez and Morticia
Practical Magic (1998)- two sisters who are part of a family of witches experience different forms of love and loss... sometimes with dangerous results, but true love is the most powerful magic of all
Penelope (2006)- love can do a lot of things, including being what breaks a curse... but there are different kinds of love
the Fifth Element (1997)- an incredibly funny sci-fi adventure, it can be all over the place at times, but somehow manages to pull everything together at the end, much like combining elements
Coming to America (1988)- a young prince doesn’t want to simply be betrothed, he wants find a girl who loves who he really is; he decides the best way to do so is to disguise himself as a poor fast-food worker
George of the Jungle (1997)- people throw around the term “himbo” a lot lately, but George here was the otiginal combo of beeffcake/heart of gold/doesn’t think stuff through, and it is great
 Shows-
Joe Pera Talks With You- this entire show is very calming and soothing, the gentle build-up to the romance included. An episode that made me smile for about 3 solid minutes at the end; after staying upp all night talking and watching funny internet videos, Joe Pera goes outside to check on his garden, and he starts to cheer because the beans he planted have grown all the way up the arch, his girlfriend Sarah joins him, and in a fit of glee he gets down on one knee to seemingly propose, but she knocks him over yelling “Too soon!”, and they both proceed to run around laughing
Gargoyles- before we had legit and obvious monster romance available, we had the slow-burn that is Goliath and Elisa
People of Earth- there are several different little romantic storylines in this show, but my favorite is actually a parental-themed one; a space alien abducts a child, and grows to care for him, promising to always protect the little kid. Because different life-forms have different life-spans, a guy in his 30s is relatively still a child to the space alien
Steven Universe- just... Ruby and Sapphire. Yes
Adventure Time- there are a few different characters who fall in and out of love, but it is really all about Bubblegum and Marceline
YuYu Hakusho- known more for being an action anime, the little bits of love we see are actually pretty cute. Especially Kuwabara, who is a hopeless romantic
