Several years ago, I bought several records from Birds Love Fighting, a label out of Melbourne, Australia. I think the label is in hibernation, but their music is still available (for streaming at least) on Bandcamp. When I put my Bandcamp collection on shuffle, I'm always happy when From The South (Canberra) comes on. They really can sound like Australia's answer to Beachwood Sparks - a little less Americana, but still great languid songs.

During its active time Birds Love Fighting put out several amazing albums - bands like Cat Cat (I think Warwick Smith from the band ran the label), and The Ocean Party released full lengths. Their music fits nicely alongside From The South.

Grade School (North Vancouver, British Columbia) perhaps have the most understated mission statement of any band: "We're all about making enjoyable and relatable music!"

Looking like high school students - nothing at all like their name - they seem to have a knack for making dolewave. Really, this sounds like music from Australia - perhaps The Ocean Party, Pencil, Grandstands or Eggy.
