3. Hi; for fic finder, could you help me find shapeshifter!WWX fic? Its an old fic. Its a series too i think (3 fic with the first in the series completed and the second part is WIP). I think its tiger WWX (not sure). After WC throws WWX to burial mound, WWX shift to tiger. He cant shift back to human. He hunts the wen in tiger form. He help NHS when he is in the river. NHS was attacked by the wen (either wen or a yao). They then goes to Qinghe. In Qinghe, JWY and LWJ bring back WC to Qinghe to interrogate him. But WWX sees WC and bite him to death. I think WWX is the one who killed WRH too. He bit WRH to death i think

In the second part of the series, after war it was found out that WWX is shapeshifter and many wants to kill (?) Him. The last time i read this, it still only has 1 or 2 chapter.

Nie huaisang, lan zhan, Jiang chang active a time travel array. Huaisang and land zhan did NOT know JC altered the array to erase WY. LZ eventually forces JC to fix it and bring WY back.

When JC altered the array to bring WY back he messed up somewhat and the price was his own core disapp //

I read a FF a while back and cannot remember the name of it, if someone could help me out, I would LOVE to reread it.

Years after Wei WuXian died, Lan Wangji and Nie Huaisang want to travel back in time to save Wei Ying and Nei Mingjue. NHS and LWJ finds an array but realize they cannot activate it without Jiang Cheng's help.

However they didn't realize that JC changed the array until they were back in Cloud Recess lecture. LWJ punches JC and

JC had erased WWX from existence. Eventually LWJ made JC fix it and bring back WWX.

After WWX is brought back he reveals the gold core transfer along with other secrets.

However when JC redid the array and brought WWX back is made his own core slowly disintegrate.

They do save the Wen Remnants and and Wen Qing actually helps LWJ finish destroying JCs core when he is challenged to a dual.

5. Hello! For the fic finder/s, thank you in advance. ♡

For days I've been trying to find this fic. I'm not sure with the details like if wei wuxian is a farmer here or older (i think he is a farmer though) but what I remember is lan wangji making advances to wei wuxian while sleeping (wei wuxian here is known as a heavy sleeper ) but at some point wei wuxian got awake during those and from then on anticipate what lan wangji gonna do, so he knows what lan wangji is doing and there's a number of that that happens. Also, lan wangji is running out of time because he was about to go to the main central or the palace to take an imperial exam (? I'm not sure if that's the term) anyway, he was going with lan sizhui to take that exam. I'm not sure if he goes on the day of the exam but I vaguely remember that he confess his feelings to wei wuxian before or on that day. Then they did the everyday. ヾ(＠゜▽゜＠）ノ

6. Hi! I've been trying to find a fic (I believe it's a time travel au where Lwj and Jc, or just Jc I'm not sure, travel back in time), but the only scene I remember is a scene where Jc for some reason gets mad with Wwx during the Sunshot Campaign after finding Wwx in the woods around the war camp (I don't remember what Wwx was doing). Jc hits Wwx with zidian and Wwx is sent flying into a tree. Jc gets scared after Wwx doesn't get up and goes see if Wwx is ok, only to find out Wwx's heart is no longer beating. Lwj (I don't remember if he arrived after Jc hit Wwx or if he was already in the woods with Wwx), then, manages to make Wwx's heart beat again by performing CPR on him.

can't find the fic, but I remember it. Maybe these details will help. Lan Wangji found out about WWX not having a core after he gets back from being missing (I think by grabbing his wrist maybe?), but Jiang Cheng doesn't know. He didn't expect that hitting WWX with Zidian would be much of a problem for him and he's totally freaked out when WWX collapses and LWJ starts doing CPR which is what you'd do for a non-cultivator

7. Completely unrelated to my last ask, I’m looking for a Dragonji fic where his hoard is bunnies. Lan Xichen tries to talk to him in the bunny field but he’s just chilling in his dragon form with the bunnies finding him Good. Lan Xichen flies to the Burial Mounds for desperate negotiations with Wei Wuxian. Eventually Wei Wuxian mentions that Lan Wangji didn’t have any bunnies until WW gave him some. I vaguely remember a lot of dimension travel and a-yuan js sort of helping wei wuxian doing the said travel and a-qing is also there. in one part they reach the past but like not really cultivation world (not sure on that) and meet lan xichen, there's also lwj and wwx of that world who help them get back, there's an spaceship and stuff and I think wen qing was also there maybe?

10. hello! i'm looking for a fic where wwx and lwj have a biological child (i'm not sure if it's a-yuan). i think this fic has an omegaverse setting? lwj doesn't know about the child until a bit later on and even then he's unsure bc when he sees the child and asks wwx, wwx tells him to ask again the next time they meet (or he'll tell him more? i'm not sure). but they don't meet again bc wwx dies at qiongqi path on the way to jl's 1 month celebration via a bunch of arrows courtesy of jin zixun and co. he brought along wn and his child, but wn brings the child to cloud recesses secretly, so jzx doesn't die due to wn. i remember there was a scene where they brought wwx's body to jinlin tai and stripped him naked to scan for the hundred holes curse scars, and jins were creepy about it. lwj was dissociating in this scene and he's sorely disappointed in his brother for not helping stop them. please help, i've been thinking abt this fic for days now 😭 @aracchiii

11. Hi!!! I'm trying to find a fic (it's an one-shot, if I remember correctly) that happens during the Sunshot Campaign. One of the soldiers sees Jc and Wwx fighting, and they see Wwx flinching, and trying to back away. This soldier (I think they either were sexuality assaulted or knew someone who was sexuality assaulted and reacted like this towards the abuser, I don't remember which one it is now), and they find Wwx's reactions to Jc way too similar to the reactions of someone towards their abuser and comments this with another soldiers. The "Wwx reacts towards sect leader Jiang like someone who was sexuality assaulted does" comment spreads around, and soon becomes rumors that Jc did rape Wwx. Wwx is confused by how suddenly everyone is sympathetic towards him, treat him with care and don't let him alone with Jc. One of the last scenes is Jc mad because Wwx "tarnished his reputation", Wwx not understanding shit of what's going on and Jc getting real scarry. They were in a secluded place, I think. Lwj is walking about and sees Wwx backed away on a tree while Jc is looking really agressive, Wwx looking scared, and he (who has heard of the rumors), goes like "nope, he's not about to take Wy against his will again. Not on my watch" and totally trashes Jc (I don't remember if only verbally or also physically).

16. Hi I’m looking for a specific fic that I thought I had saved, but alas😑

It’s a ‘watching the memories’ type of fic. With protective Jiang Cheng, Lan Xichen, Lan Zhan and juniors.

Anyway I don’t remember much but what I do remember is that the story is set after guanyin temple and that they watched a memory of wwx going about his birthday alone. Qiren and many others were assholes to wwx who just wanted to spend the day with his husband and son, but was constantly denied and berated.

This in turn lead to JG, LZ and LXC I think being angry and protective on his behalf.

I find the whole Atsushi being kicked out the Orphanage thing, very suspicious.

For one, Atsushi is explicitly kicked out. They could've just said oh it's because Atsushi aged out the system so he's graduated from the Orphanage.

But that's not what happens, Atsushi is kicked out because the tiger ate their crops and chickens.

Which... How?

How did the tiger that you have successfully kept contained, manage to escape?

They've known about the tiger for years, even prior to Shibusawa showing up. They've kept Atsushi locked up when this happens, they should know.

And yet, somehow Atsushi gets free? And the response they give is to kick him out, instead of locking him up.

Also, for people who love to call Atsushi a beast of calamity and say awful things to him... Why would they care to keep Atsushi in the dark about his ability?

They blame him for destroying the crops and such, they know he did it and yet they don't tell him. That feels on purpose, though I can't say why.

Also Atsushi killed Shibusawa, they would have to have known that and all these people who hate him didn't call him a murderer? And possibly covered up Shibusawa's death.

There's also the fact after Atsushi runs off, Fyodor has the Guild put up a bounty for him. If Fyodor's known about Atsushi (at the very least since he was 12) why let him leave only to chase him down again?

Unless, for whatever reason they need that to happen.

And I think the Orphanage knew that, at the very least the Headmaster does because his speeches to Atsushi involve him being outside.

That one day Atsushi will leave and have to survive on his own.

"If an imbecile like you seeks to survive in a world that abandoned you, you must learn to endure pain. If not, you will die in short order."

If Atsushi was locked in a cage most of his life, why would the Headmaster talk about him leaving? And yeah it could just be that Atsushi ages out and leaves like any other kid.

But Atsushi isn't any other kid, and he's still at the Orphanage after turning 18 and they give another reason for him being kicked out.

So it doesn't seem like that, at least to me.

It doesn't feel like an accident that Atsushi managed to escape as the tiger, and thus allowing the Orphanage to be rid of him.

Especially when Fyodor's involved.

You Changed Me

What exactly do I want…from Mangkorn? – Episode 5

Previous Posts' Recap: Ep. 1 [Yin & Yang], Ep. 2 [The Color of Anxiety], Ep. 3 [Do you get déjà vu?], Ep. 4 [The Cages We Live In]

The episode begins in the black, which is Yai’s color. Yai has been fighting with Mangkorn while the storm picks up around them, but Mangkorn finds a way to get them out of the storm and end the argument.

Yai hesitates at the door, but Mangkorn pulls him into his color and space. Mangkorn wants to let Yai in. Red also represents passion. *wink wink*

When Yai wakes up, he is waking up in love with Mangkorn surrounded by pinks and reds, but the title card shows that Yai doesn’t understand the reason he feels this way. There isn’t any logic. The pan out shows the yin yang rug we see in the trailer, and that although Yai is lost in his emotions, it's because Mangkorn is missing, as the red pillow covers the Yang side of the rug.

Mangkorn has already picked out clothes for Yai, which is the red shirt he gave Yai after the party and when they went on their noodle date. Mangkorn also delivers this as a command of “Wear This” or “Put this on first.”

Mangkorn is wearing black in the kitchen, so after their night together, they exchanged colors similar to their date night.

Mangkorn proceeds to serve and feed Yai. He also mentions this is his mother’s recipe, and she would be happy to see someone enjoying it. This resonates with Yai because he misses his mother, but also lightly foreshadows that Mangkorn’s mother will be happy with Yai.

They joke about the flashcard image, which is a dragon and a tiger, but the original design also had writing on it that is seen on the poster and states “Dragon” and “Moon.” We see the moon later when they are arguing.

After they tend to each other’s wound that they gave each other, Mangkorn asks if Yai wants to join in the shower. Yai falls deeper into his thoughts because everything about Mangkorn surprises him and the way he makes him feel when Mangkorn is gentle with him. Yai repeats this action of touching his cheek when Mangkorn leaves the room.

After his shower, Mangkorn lets Yai know he can stay at his place since he already ordered him food, and he puts his number in Yai’s phone plus makes him follow him on Instagram. Mangkorn knows something is bothering Yai, so he goes out of his way to make Yai at ease. Even when Mangkorn’s mother interrupts them, Mangkorn moves closer to Yai and continues to touch him. Mangkorn assures Yai they will speak later about this.

The house is a mess, but Yai, a person who is only known for destroying spaces, decides to clean it up.

Yai is this close to seeing the flier for Mangkorn’s Master’s program in New York but stops when his phone rings. Mangkorn spoke about this with his senior in the first episode and said he didn’t want to go, but next week’s preview shows he is thinking about it as an avoidance tactic.

Park and Phong show up in their designated colors, but they each have the other person’s colored rag. Much like Yai and Mangkorn’s exchange of colors, Park and Phong are exchanging theirs little by little after their storm encounter the previous night.

They also have rainbow dusters and heart sponges emphasizing the emotions that Yai feels cleaning for Mangkorn.

Once Park and Phong leave, Yai is outside with his BIG emotions about Mangkorn. This happened in episode four as well when his thoughts were consumed by Mangkorn.

Yai can’t find Mangkorn in his phone even through Mangkorn put himself in the phone. Instead “my mom” comes up, and Yai gets more upset. Mangkorn, being Mangkorn, probably listed himself in the phone as “Dragon,” “Boyfriend,” "Pain in the ass," or "The Love of Your Life"

The bracelets that Hong picks up from the house were the same accessories Mangkorn’s senior brought him at his job last episode. The women are shown with the color balancing that is similar to Yai’s and Mangkorn’s. Hong as Mangkorn’s equivalent [Dragon/Phoenix] is red and the other is black.

Yai goes to the school to see Mangkorn but is embarrassed, while Mangkorn is delighted that Yai came to see him.

They begin to argue, but unlike before where the stormed kicked in, they aren’t trying to hurt each other here. They are trying to understand each other. Like in the coffee shop, they are balancing each other out - Yai in his dark top and light pants with Mangkorn in his light top and dark bottom.

The pillar in the middle is the divide between them, and they are on opposing sides (Yai is dark, and Mangkorn is light), but they mention the other’s faults as well.

Dragons are elusive and aggressive while tigers are stubborn and selfish. However, dragons are generous and tigers are frank, which helps balance each other. Yai gets Mangkorn to tell the truth, and Mangkorn gets Yai to realize because of Mangkorn’s situation, he’ll have to sacrifice his love for him.

When Yai realizes this, he goes from being surrounded all in black, to seeing Mangkorn’s colors in the background – the red hair and the greens and blues.

Bonus: During this entire episode, Yai does not wear his tiger necklace. He is struggling with his thoughts and questioning himself. Therefore, he is wearing red the next day, while being surrounded by black. Nine, normally in black, blends into the couch. He is an extension of Yai's life, but adds nothing new to it unlike Mangkorn who adds color and intensity.

Mangkorn’s, as usual aggressive and determined dragon behavior, reaches out first and texts.

But tigers are stubborn, so Yai ignores it. When he leaves class, he is greeted by Nine. Both Mangkorn and Nine have BMWs, so when Nine drives up, Yai might have thought it was initially Mangkorn.

During the dinner, Nine doesn't try to serve or feed Yai the way Mangkorn does. Nine and Yai have different backgrounds. Nine’s is purple and Yai’s is black. Nine and Yai have known each other since they were children, and Nine is beginning to add color into Yai's life; then, the caterpillar interrupts.

The caterpillar crawls on Yai, which scares Yai. Caterpillars represent transformation, which Yai is also scared of. However, Nine asks if Yai would be as scared of caterpillars (change), if he saw the beauty in them (a butterfly, perhaps representing Nine).

But not all caterpillars turned into butterflies. Some turn into moths. This caterpillar might be a Sphinx Moth. A sphinx is a part man, part bird, part lion creature which would be similar to the balance of Mangkorn (dragon/phoenix) and Yai (tiger) bleeding into each other’s lives and transforming into something new. These moths feed off of oleanders, a toxic flower, which blooms in pinks and reds. Mangkorn and Yai are taking each other’s toxic traits and making each other better. Mangkorn isn’t holding onto secrets, and Yai isn’t being selfish. Transformation is beautiful no matter what the outwardly appearance is. It doesn’t make sense that the caterpillar eats something that would kill others and grows from it, but most things about transformation are arbitrary.

At the end of the episode, Mangkorn is wearing black and Yai is wearing red, but next week, we see after Nine’s kiss, Yai is back in black (retreating into himself), while Mangkorn remains in black (still in love with Yai). However, Yai will find his way back into Mangkorn's world because love isn't logical.

What would a kidnapping look like if Quaritch managed to kidnap Spider when he was, let's say, 12 years old? (In this version, Spider would go to the Sullys as a 12-year-old and he would already be in all the foster families like in the original Cabin, he would just change them more often)

Sorry this took me so long! I needed to think about it a while and then I got caught up with things. Honestly I love this idea. I really enjoy au’s where Spider is aged down so thinking about this concept is fun for me. And honestly I think this au would be funny in a dark humor kind of way until it just get straight up dark. Because Quaritch would see his tiny 12 year old who’s still at least a year from hitting his growth spirt and think “I can handle that no problem,” completely oblivious to the fact that preteens are monsters. (At least in my experience they are. When I was in middle school we were all terrible to each other then we got to high school and everyone calmed down)

So he’d take Spider to the cabin and just lock the front door and bar the windows because what kind of damage could a 12 year old do? So much actually. Spider tosses plates of food across the room like a frisbee, he breaks things, he climbs on the furniture, hissing down at his father like an animal. Quaritch tries to wrangle his wild child, chasing the boy around the house. His son is clever and quick making him really good at avoiding him. If you’re ever had to chase around a pet that has something in their mouth, it’s basically that kind of back and forth. Eventually Quaritch will catch him, and hold his son on his lap to try to get him to eat, or do his school work, or just simply sit calmly with his father for a little bit. Spider never puts up with any of it, squirming to get out of Quaritch’s hold until he either wiggles free or Quaritch gives up.

After a few weeks of this Quaritch would be fed up. Obviously the Sully’s influence had made his son too wild. And if you want to tame something wild you have to break it. So one morning Spider wakes up and goes to open his bedroom door only to find it locked. He bangs on the door, screams his head off, throws things. Even after hours Quaritch never comes. Then he gets quiet pacing his room like a caged tiger. When he tires from that he huddles in the corner of his destroyed room and fights to not cry. All he wants is to go home. To be away from this monster.

It’s not until the next morning when his father softly rapts on his door and asks, “how you doin’ in there Junior.” Spider angrily throws himself at the door screaming ever curse word under the sun . On the other side of the wall Quaritch shrugs, “alright then.” And with that he leaves for another day. By the night time Spider is sobbing and he doesn’t care. He’s so hungry his stomach feels likes it’s eating itself and his mouth is dry as sandpaper. The walls feel like they’re closing in on him and everything is so quiet it’s maddening. When Quaritch returns once again the next morning asking “how y’a doing,” in a small watery voice Spider asks, “can I come out.”

Quaritch smiles. “What do you say first?”

“Please” the little boy says desperately

“And?”

He thinks for a moment then, “I’m sorry.” Spider feels disgusted with himself.

The door opens. His father towers over him from the entryway. Then he holds his arms out wide, “come here.” Spider hesitates not wanting his father anywhere near him. But he wants out of this room more. Slowly he walks into his father’s arms and hugs him tight. His father pats him on the back then leads him into the kitchen where breakfast is waiting.

After that any time Spider rebels against Quaritch he’s threatened with “time out”. And he does end up in “time out” quite a few more times to the point where after a few months Quaritch just has to mention “time out” for Spider to get quiet, his eyes filling with tears.

When Spider’s being good in his father’s eyes he’s rewarded. He’s praised and complemented. He gets extra dessert. He even gets to go outside to play as long as he stays where his father can see him. Slowly the “good” starts to out weight the “bad” as little Miles starts to settle in.

So yeah it’s basically a “gentil” version of what happens in Cabin. Anyway thank you for your patience! I hope you enjoyed 💙

KRS!Cale: So a monster stronger than anything we've ever seen before is going to show up. With my plan, we're going to achieve an overwhelming victory. Looks like we all gotta fight that thing) KRS!Cale: Ok, so the monster will show up at the shore and go through a subway. It can split in two and use electricity and sonic blasts. i figured this was a good one to start off the playlist, it sets up the quiet unease of greeds existence. also starting with a song called "softy" on a playlist about the Ultimate Shield and building everything else on top of that is a move of genius i think

a sudden shift in musical style to something way more... i dont quite know how to describe it but its soft at first and then turns frantic and its generally not the kind of music i would typically listen to for Fun but in the context of the events leading up to the raid i think the sound works to illustrate the confusion and fear. immortality, i think, was never just for greed. he wanted to protect his friends too. the lyrics start to repeat "i don't wanna ever dream", and then "'cause all it ever leads me to is bad things, bad things"-- this desire is exactly what gets them all killed.

the musical panic continues into the next song, which describes a burglary gone sideways and perfectly captures the raid. greed tried to bite off more than he could chew and paid the price for it. plenty of the lyrics can be directly associated with the situation-- the "king rat" who "has (greed) on his list again", the "deep water" he's sinking in, the claim that he was "honest even when he cheated them". i dont think id be able to find a more fitting song for this part if i looked for a year

I think that Miguel needs a break and that's why he is so harsh with Miles, so let's examine what he has gone through in the course of around a year, or at least a year from his point of view:

So after the Spider-Team fixed that, this is why Spider-Man 2099 decided to create the multiverse army.

So let's move to the root of the problem of Miguel with Miles.

Across several realities, at some point, several people move across realities with disastrous results, either physically or by dreamwalking.

So depending how time flows between universes, this all could have happened at roughly the same time, and how Miguel and possibly the Illuminati and god knows how many other realities learned about the dangers of multiverse travel.

And probably Infinity Ultron's rampage didn't help either.

Anyways, his actions and possibly the awareness of the other disasters is how Miguel's sanity started going down hill.

So how Miguel himself mentioned, the last multiversal disaster before the events of Across the Spider-verse were the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home

An ill-concieved plan to use an incredibly powerful magic spell for an ridiculously mundane reason caused a lot of multiversal displacement of individuals, that Miguel and the multiverse army may or may not be still cleaning.

So you can see why by the time that Miles shows up and refuses to follow the script of death and tragedy, he has such short temper.

This man clearly hasn't sleep in months and has to be bribed with empanadas in the same way that you would bribe a tiger to clean his cage.

Side note: It seems that multiverse travel through magic spells grants a protection against glitching out, instead travelling through technology, i.e. portals opened by a supercollider or the bracelets / clocks that Miguel and the others use.

But it may also be because the magic travelers are never in another reality for long, after all, Gwen had already lived more than a week in Miles' earth before she started glitching out.

Nightmares plague Ash for . . . days? Weeks? Time has truly become meaningless to him. A cycle of sick images swim through his mind each night—if it can even be called that—which wake him in a cold sweat. He is run ragged most days, sparring uselessly against Owen; every time he seems to have an upper hand, Owen outsmarts him, outpaces him, outmaneuvers him. With his friends, taking Owen down was almost easy, but alone, even with the benefit of his hybrid form . . . it gets more difficult each time.

Ozmund tries every cruelty at his disposal to elicit the results he wants. Some nights, Ash isn’t allowed to sleep at all; instead, he’s forced to push his body to its limits, exercising until his muscles give way beneath him. On other weeks, he’s given only pale vegetable broth to sustain himself—a punishment, he assumes, perhaps to make him angry enough to fight harder. Even his contact with Faye, the only kind face he’s seen in months, is lessened. Though after she’d bristled with disgust at his tiger form, it almost hurts worse to see her than not. Most days, he sits alone in the dark until Ozmund or Owen drag him to the sparring arena once again. Hsa, too, seems to have disappeared, leaving him utterly alone.

After one particularly rough day of fighting, Ash readily collapses into fitful sleep. But when he awakes, something feels off. The dank, stale air of the dungeon is replaced with a gentle breeze, the crisp scent of pine and earth carried along on the wind. Ash blinks against the bright light. Why’s it so bright? What’s going on? As his senses tune back in to the world around him, he realizes he’s not in his cell anymore.

The heavy weight of the collar around his neck is gone; cool air tickles his throat and soothes the tender skin. Beneath him, the dewy grass caresses his sore, naked body. He scrambles to his feet—no chains, no manacles, no binding magic—and digs his toes into the soft, damp soil. For the first time in what feels like months, he breathes in deeply, his chest expanding to its full limit without restraint. Although his eyes struggle to adjust to the intense sunlight, he glances around himself: lush green trees surround him in every direction, and by his feet, he finds his beloved spear. He snatches it from the ground, clutching it to his chest for a moment like a treasured friend. Am I . . . free? Is this real? Looking at his hands, the burn scars around his wrists are still there. If this was a dream, then surely . . .

“So you’re finally awake, huh?”

His stomach drops low in his gut. Ash spins to face the voice, positioning the spear to protect himself. Owen approaches through the trees, hands held aloft as if calming a wild animal.

"Easy there, big fella. No need to get . . . stabby. I'm here to make a deal."

Suspicious, Ash lowers his spear only partly.

"Close enough, I guess," Owen shrugs. "Listen, this is what you wanted, right? Freedom? One last go with me, and you can have it—"

At the word—freedom—Ash's heart leaps up into his throat. It's too good to be true . . . Why would Owen help me? Why would they let me go?

"—As long as you can catch me. If you do, tear me to shreds, burn my body; do whatever it takes. This whole 'living forever' thing is getting pretty old. Destroy me beyond repair, and maybe I won't come back this time. Then you can go home, or back to your friends, whatever floats your boat. Ozmund will never be the wiser—and we both get what we want."

Of course there would be a catch. Nothing is ever straightforward with Owen. Try as he might, though, Ash can't find a loophole Owen could exploit. And after seeing how little Ozmund values Owen beyond his incredibly hearty constitution, Ash is inclined to believe him. Or perhaps his desperation has simply reached its peak.

Ash clears his throat, his voice raspy from disuse. "And what if I fail?"

"Then we both go back to our miserable lives being lab rats. Look, take it or leave it; it's up to you. And before you think of running off without keeping your end of the bargain, you should know that you can't get out of here without this." He holds up a small silver ring. "Think of it like a magic key—without this ring, you'll be locked in this forest forever."

As much as Ash is distrustful of Owen, he can't deny the appeal of the offer. All he has to do is rely on his instincts—be the hunter he was born to be—and he can finally be free. All his suffering wouldn't be in vain: he's stayed alive long enough to find a way out! Even if the tiny skeptical voice in his head screams in protest . . . he has to try.

"Deal."

After giving Owen a brief headstart, Ash pulls in a deep, cleansing breath. His scent is faint, but easily identifiable—Ash quickly picks up the trail and begins his pursuit. Never has a hunt held such high stakes for him; even living off the land and hunting to survive, he's never felt such intense desperation. I can’t let him get away. I can’t fail this time. Come on, Ash, you can do this.

He stalks the path of boot prints Owen left in the damp earth. Memories ripple through his skin, a searing nostalgic ache; every hunt with Kane, every playful chase with Evius, he can feel it all like the sunlight dappling through the trees. Although the forest is unfamiliar to him, the elements themselves feel like old friends—the towering trees and the prickling grass beneath his feet are companions he’s always known. With that confidence, emboldened by that comfort, he lets his fear roll off of him.

The stretch of his muscles is satisfying and liberating as he leaps into the branches above. Like his tiger ancestors, he prowls the canopy, noting every rustling leaf and snapping twig on the forest floor below. He is calm, collected; his rage has no place here. Not yet, anyway. Not until I find him . . .

As the sun rises higher in the sky, Owen’s scent begins to fade. Just as Ash thinks he’s lost the trail, a voice calls out from deeper in the woods.

“Help! Ash!”

Is that . . . Mouse?!

The fact the first person other than the Headmaster to tell Atsushi that he brings misfortune to others simply by being near them... Was Akutugawa.

And yes this was in there first meeting.

Things have changed and all that.

... But you can't tell me that after the fight with Fukuchi that Atsushi didn't recall those words and think that Akutugawa and the Headmaster are right.

Because Akutugawa got close, he was with him and look what happened.

Atsushi's like a curse, he destroys the people around him. It's why his parents abandoned him, it's why everyone at the Orphanage hated him.

The whole world abandoned him because it's what he deserves.

Shibusawa was fine until he got to close to him. It's why Ranpo left him with Fukuchi. Akutagawa is gone because of him.

He couldn't even keep Sigma from falling.

And just Atsushi who's terrified of being alone thinking that's what he deserves.

That the Headmaster was right to keep him chained up in a cage with no light or love and kept away from the world.

But not because of the tiger.

It's not the monster, he is.

Neon Genesis Evangelion (Episodes 1,2,4,5)

I am a sucker for good opening themes and let me tell you, this one is incredible, I love A Cruel Angel's Thesis with all my heart and I wanted to get that out of the way.

To get to the actual analysis, Shinji is the main focus of the show and he has quite a bit going on. His relationship with his father (or lack thereof) is a huge focus and is Shinji's driving factor to be an Eva pilot. We don't know why Shinji's father doesn't interact with him unless absolutely necessary but we do know that Shinji desperately wants his approval, he even questions why he does this is his father isn't watching in episode three. As a child, there is a desire to please one's parents and the parents have an instrumental role in a child's development. Shinji growing up without a father and mother(?) has clearly had a effect on his psyche. He isn't close with anyone and actively keeps people at an arms length explained by the Hedgehog's Dilemma. Shinji is scared of letting people get close to him because he wants to avoid the risk of pain that comes with becoming more personal. I think I can relate to that a little too much. This choice leads to Shinji's only reason to live/exist is to serve as a slave to NERV. He doesn't want to be a pilot, he said himself that he is a coward, yet he still gets in when he is told to. I don't think he has once been excited to get in the Eva to defend the world. There is a bit of development though, after he runs away, he realizes how his classmates and Misato, actually see him and care about him. He chooses to get control over his life instead of running away, which is some huge psychological progression for him.

I also want to compare and contrast this with Gundam. The obvious similarity is with giant robots piloted by children that have parental issues. That's where it ends though. There is a lot of emphasis put on Shinji's personal life while Amuro's story is much more concerned with the overall war effort. Each serves its own purpose but it does cause a divergence between the two shows. Shinji develops some kind of PTSD from his short time with the Evas and is meek and scared, Amuro on the other hand is prideful and jumps at the chance to go destroy his enemies. Amuro embodies the stereotypical masculine teenager, willing to die for his family, friends, and country at the drop of a dime. He is a "caged tiger" who destroys his enemies with extreme ferocity and needs to be held back. Shinji is pretty much the opposite, He only fights out of pure necessity, he whines and has no personal desire to fight or even live, it's all for his father and to stop Rei from being used. Shinji is not at all the type of kid that would be used as a example of how to be a man. That's ok though, he is a literal child being told to fight giant monsters out of the blue. It is a reasonable reaction and not every boy needs to be that "manly man" that Amuro represents.

The Christian undertones are pretty much omnipresent in the anime. From the angel's attacks often being in the form of crosses, to crosses adorning the character's clothing, and even the naming of the monsters as angels. I do not know the connection here yet, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be pretty important later on. Maybe it correlates to how the Evas are not all machine, part angel perhaps?

Based off this one post I saw a long while back where Karai and Shini are soulmates but the name Shini has on her wrist is "Miwa" and not "Karai"

Ch 1

"Karai, listen, there's something you should know. It's about your father. Your real father! Your real name is Miwa!"

She should have questioned it before the earth literally shook and everything around her fell out of her control. Aside from herself, there was only one other person who knew that name and she was currently in Japan.

So maybe she should have asked Leo what he meant, or Splinter himself when Tiger Claw used Leo and the other two turtles to draw out to head of the Hamato Clan.

Did she think they would have told her the truth had she asked? No.

But that was before she allowed the seed of doubt to prosper within her conflicted thoughts after she watered that seed with the almost convincing words of her enemies.

That was before she hid behind a billboard eavesdropping on a conversation about her.

That was before she found out the truth.

"I still can't believe that evil witch is your daughter."

"Your real name is Miwa."

And just like that, her world fell apart once again.

She knew her breaths were coming far too fast for it to be normal but her heart was beating in several places at once.

The pounding in her ears was deafening as Leo's words seemed to take up residence in her mind.

The rapid thumps against her rib-cage were almost painful and she couldn't get it to stop.

But it wouldn't stop even if she wanted it to.

The way her heart had dropped to her stomach was proof of that.

Her body was fighting against her but her mind had literally jumped her to action.

The wind was biting at her face as she flipped over the billboard (with a less than graceful landing) and onto the roof top where the Hamato clan was gathered.

"Leo said my name is Miwa." Her voice was far too panicked and desperate for her liking but she couldn't bring herself to care. "Is it true?"

Desperate and pleading golden orbs ignored the turtles and April, only focusing on the tall rat mutant ninja master.

But all she received was silence from the group in front of her.

Despite her better judgment, she took a step forward and looked Splinter in the eyes, silently pleading with her maybe-possible-father to give her the answer she so desperately needs.

"Is it true?" Her voice was soft. So unusual from her signature harshness and while she should've hated the vulnerability that came with it, she couldn't.

She needed to know. She had to make sure they weren't lying to her. She had to know if she had gotten her hopes up.

Splinter's ears lowered and Karai found herself fearing the worst.

"Yes."

Karai swore the earth shook again as her heart leapt into her throat.

She felt multiple pair of eyes on her but she didn't care.

There was so much to unpack with that one world.

Her real name was Miwa.

Miwa was the name Shini had on her wrist.

But Miwa is Splinter's daughter.

She was Miwa.

Shredder wasn't her real father.

Her name is Miwa, she is Splinter's daughter, not Shredder's, and her world had just came crashing down around her.

But her name is Miwa, and that's the name Shinigami has on her wrist, not Karai, and that's the only thing she can focus on when she shouldn't be.

Her world has come crashing down but she can't even bring herself to care now that she knows the name on Shinigami's wrist belongs to her.

No one was surprised when Karai dropped to her knees but the concern had reached its peak when she started laughing.

They had been expecting rage. Denial even. On a very rare chance, tears.

But no, Karai had dropped to the roof and started laughing and none of them were prepared for that.

Karai was laughing as if this revelation was the funniest thing in the world to her as if it hadn't just destroyed everything she thought she knew.

Splinter, not wanting his eldest to fall further into hysterics, walked over to her and gently placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Karai, breathe."

"I'm..." Karai shook her head and giggled. "This is...so messed up."

"I think she's in shock," Donnie winced.

"My entire life has been a complete lie!" Karai laughed, finding nothing but sincere amusement in her words.

The turtles and April looked to each other, helpless on how to approach the situation that could turn violent at any given second.

"Should we just give her a moment?" Raph asked, watching as Splinter was trying to calm down Karai and bring her back to her senses.

"She took this a lot differently than I expected, I'll give her that," April mumbled, silently relieved as Karai's laughter began to die down.

"Yeah, I was expecting her to try and kill us." Mikey chuckled, "Not...kill herself with laughter."

"Honestly, this was probably the most preferable outcome," Donnie said. "No one got hurt."

"Well, no one except..." Raph glanced back over to Karai, who was now staring at the street below her with wide eyes.

"Karai?" Leo slowly approached her, but Karai quickly got to her feet.

"I...I need to go," Karai mumbled and she took off running before anyone could stop her.

Leo attempted to chase after her, only for Splinter to gently grab his shoulder.

"Let her process."

"But what if she tries to do something insane like try and kill Shredder for revenge? I've fought her. I know her, and I know Karai never thinks rationally when she's driven by a need for revenge."

"Her mind is troubled but I sense some clarity has come out of the revelation," Splinter said. "That clarity is what's guiding her for the moment."

"What clarity?" Raph asked.

"A personal one, my son. Something that troubled her deeply but no longer has a hold on her."

"Do you think she knew deep down?" April pondered.

"I think she knew something, but perhaps it's all just speculation," Splinter sighed.

"Well, at least now Karai knows the truth and no one died, so I consider this a win," Mikey nodded happily.

"It's a temporary victory." Raph huffed.

"Don't be such a downer, Raph." Donnie rolled his eyes, "We stopped the Kraang, Karai didn't kill anybody, and no one died."

"Yeah." Leo nodded, feeling a sudden sense of dread. "Let's just enjoy the moment now while can."

Honestly I adore that he chose Arson and More as title tracks because More is basically his first instance where he says he wants out of the box, to explore and go outside of the identity of Hope that was basically bestowed on him (‘zeus made me hope’ & bighit made him hope… he talked a lot about how it was chance that made him j-hope, which later became almost his entire identity musically), and Arson is a perfect continuation and adds to the concept. Arson is a very peculiar ending song because it feels like a teaser for things to come. It doesn’t have a sense of finality (=this is the end of the album) only promises more, what’s to come, it’s a declaration of who he is and how he wants to be. I joked a lot with friends that all the songs after the interlude are about being finally outside the box (with all the fears and thoughts that come with that) and the sentiment reminded me of the funny poem you see floating on tumblr The tiger / He destroyed the cage / Yes / YES / The tiger is out. Arson+MORE feels like Hobi making peace with his complexities while remaining j-hope. Idk I have MANY thoughts about this album and the way the songs are ordered —@hoseeok from the main :3

in What If... he talks about how the name j-hope has given him purpose, but like you mentioned, it was bestowed upon him. would he have been able to achieve everything without j-hope? as jung hoseok - is there some middle ground? and if j-hope is hope itself, where is hope for him? AGH "hold up/ can i do this?"

i could talk about Safety Zone ALL DAY (@cordiallyfuturedwight knows this) in that it feels like an extension of Blue Side. with blue side being that place of rest, comfort, nostalgia, safety.

he's asking where his safe zone can be found - is it "the blue that is far, far away?" - almost like he's lost that comfort of blue side, and is fighting between the safety of going back, and the fear and hope of what lies ahead. if he chooses to leave the box, is he also leaving blue side behind?

Future feels like an acceptance. of his identity, of walking into the unknown, outside the box. the repetition of who i was vs. who i am!! "it now feels most proper and most me" and almost in a continuation of What If... talking about how for so long he's been this source of hope and courage and faith but had left none for himself, then at the end "with courage and faith, i bet hope on (future)"

i love your interpretation of Arson and i agree completely, it's a perfect continuation of MORE but it feels so much like a beginning.

Jack In The Box as a whole is j-hope coming to terms with his identity, accepting all aspects of himself both as jung hoseok and j-hope, as well as facing his fears and aspirations as an artist. his desire for more, escaping the box, and the worries associated with that. and he did it all in twenty minutes.
