Save the Date

Aged up readers, Y/N is 17, Kenny is 18. All in high school. Mentions of drugs, alcohol, sexual themes and strong language. NOT FOR MINORS!! I hope you all enjoyed my first fic, it was written while running after my 2 year old who throws WAY too many tantrums so sorry if it wasn't my greatest work!

Kenny watched you from across the classroom, he watched how you twiddled your pen between your thumb and forefinger, how you the tip of your tongue darted out of your mouth as you concentrated on what you were writing. Your perfect y/h/c hair flowing in soft waves that cascaded down your back. He had fallen, and he had fallen hard.

Both of you were inseparable, the best of friends, you did everything together, albeit not much, because neither of you could afford to go a lot of places. He loved nothing more than laying down beside you in your bed with his arms wrapped tightly around your waist, you were the one of the only people that knew he was Mysterion, you were one of the very lucky few who had seen him without his orange parka hood suffocating his face. But the most important to him, you were the only one to remember, the first time he died in front of you, you were shattered to a million pieces, your heart completely broken, and the only thing that could ever fix it was Kenny coming back alive, not like that could ever happen.

But it did, and when you heard a small knock on your front door all those years ago, opening it to see those beautiful blue eyes and fluffy blonde hair standing smiling at you, your face covered in smeared black lines of mascara, he knew.

"Kenny?" You uttered, rubbing your eyes as if you were hallucinating, a glove clad hand reaching to cup your tear stained face, he just simply looked at you, tears now welling in his own eyes.

"You- You remember?" He asked, you giving him a small nod as his answer. You smiled, tears still falling down your face.

"Of course I remember, Kenny! You got hit by a bus and everyone shouted about how you'd been killed and then called them bastards!" You responded, before he grabbed you with both hands, saying nothing but pulling you close to him for the tightest hug you'd ever had.

"I'm so glad you remember. No one else does."

That day will stay forever engraved in his mind for as long as he was destined to be on this earth for. And he knew, he knew you were his one true soul mate. Yeah, Kenny had been with plenty of girls before, but none of them made him feel how you did, normally so confident in asking girls out, he was known as a flirt, but he had never been confident enough to ask you out. That was until today.

"Put your balls in your purse, Kinny!" Eric said to him, exiting the class watching you walking in front of him. He was half listening, half in a daydream about how good your ass looked in your jeans.

"Kenny? Hello? Earth to Kenny, are you even listening to us?!" Kyle said, waving his hands in the air in front of Kenny's face.

"Hey dude, I was getting a good view there!! Fuck you, man!" Kenny exclaimed, sighing as he seen you turn the corner in the corridor.

"Dude, you seriously gotta ask her out!" Stan said, the other two boys nodding in agreement.

"How, man? I don't have any money to take her places, what am I supposed to say, 'Hey Y/N wanna come to my house and see my shit bedroom, my mom and dad screaming at each other and our meth lab?!' She'd never go for a guy like me, dudes. And she deserves better than me." He said his head bowing to stare at the tiles of the corridor. His life really was a mess.

"And that's where the broship comes in, dude!" Eric exclaimed, the other boys staring at each other in confusion.

"I bet you $70 you won't ask her out by the end of the day!" Eric said, knowing Kenny couldn't pass up on money like that.

"And if you do, then the money will come in handy for a date right?" Eric said, a shit eating grin plastered upon his face.

"Fine." Kenny replied, saying nothing else before walking off to find you.

There you sat with the other girls, chatting about god knows what and eating your lunch. You could feel a pair of eyes burning through the back of your skull as you turned round, there he stood, your prince in an orange parka. You couldn't see it because of his hood, but he was smiling at you, and was that a blush on his cheeks?

You had serious love and feelings for Kenny, and you always had, but you knew he was a player, he had been with a lot of girls throughout the years, and he never ever chose you, maybe he just didn't see you that way.

He was nervous, a small bead of sweat trickling down his forehead. He made his way over to you.

"Is it hot in here, or is it just being so close to you, girl?" Kenny flirted, causing a small blush to spread along your cheeks.

"What's up, Kenny?" You asked, offering him the half of your sandwich, he normally didn't have much food to eat, so you liked to help when you could. He great-fully accepted the kind offer and then bowed his head slightly, taking on a rather unusual mannerism for him. Normally he was so confident and cocky, but right now, he looked like he might pass out.

And he felt like it too!! Maybe he could just die accidentally and come back tomorr- No! He has to do this! It was now or never.

"Can I- um... can I talk to you about something?" Kenny asked, his gloved hands fidgeting together.

"Of course, Ken, we can talk about anything together! Do you wanna head somewhere more private?" You asked, as he simply nodded in reply, taking off a glove and offering his hand to you.

"I rolled a joint I didn't get to smoke before school today, wanna dip and go to the park?" Kenny questioned, his eyebrow quirking, hoping you'd be down.

"I have Mr Garrison's class after lunch so fuck yeah I wanna dip. My mom isn't home as usual, said she was going to get drugs last night and hasn't came back, so we can go smoke up at my house if you want? I've got frozen pizza!" You exclaimed, a large smile on your face. You could never pass up quality time with Kenny, you both knew that.

"That sounds like absolute bliss, babe. But when we smoke up, I really do need to talk to you about something." He stated, your hands now fully intertwined. As you guys approached the double doors of the school you passed Eric, Kyle and Stan, the three boys staring at you both, wide eyed and mouths wide.

"Hey, fuck you Kinny!" Eric shouted, handing him $70. "Make it last! God knows when you'd be able to get $70 again, Kinny!" He shouted loudly, the blonde boy smirking and flipping him off on his way out the door.

"Fuck you, dude! I'll text y'all later." He shouted back, the doors finally closing behind you both.

The walk was long and cold to your house, since you lived in the same part of town as Kenny, and the school bus wasn't running, since technically school was still in session. During the walk Kenny had shedded his jacket, putting it on you instead, making sure you didn't catch sick and kept warm in the never ending snow that resided in South Park.

Soon enough you were both in your bedroom, the window cracked slightly as Kenny sparked his lighter, taking a long, slow drag of the joint before passing it to you.

"So, what did you wanna talk about? Has your dad gone psycho again?" You asked, taking a few drags of the joint and passing it back to Kenny, your hands grazing slightly, and when you two touched, it felt electric.

He shook his head no. "No, for once it's not my parents." He laughed out, smoke coming down his nostrils.

"Then what's wrong, Ken?" You asked eyebrows raised as your studied your best friends face. He had a light dusting of freckles, soft, pale skin and the most perfect, light pink lips and of course you couldn't forget the adorable little gap in his teeth when he smiled at you. You were in love, you had been in love with him for as long as you could remember.

His hands were ice cold, the blood not reaching them due to the speed his heart was beating at.

"I um... I-" He stuttered, his cheeks a deep shade of crimson, as he quickly puffed on the joint you two shared, passing it to you, he should've asked if you had any vodka here that he could take a shot of, a little Dutch courage, but it was too late, he was already sitting here, your full attention on him as he became a stammering mess.

He took his gaze away from you before he said it, he actually had finally said it to you, and he did so as quickly as the words would come out of his mouth.

"Do you maybe wanna, I don't know, bemygirlfriend? I mean, only if you want to! If you don't, I totally understand, I wouldn't wanna be with me either, I mean, you deserve the world and I can barely afford to feed myself-"

You cut him off by grabbing the front of his t-shirt and pulling him towards you, your lips crashing against one another. You had waited for this since you were younger, you had always dreamed of being his, being his girl. And now you were!

His eyes fluttered closed, melting against you and wrapping his slender arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him on the bed. He had dreamt about this, he had wanked about this! More than once! He'd thought about how your boobs looked without any clothing covering them, how your nipple would feel in his mouth, how hard he could slap your ass, how tight you would feel around his coc-

You both parted ways, panting as you did, a string of salvia connecting your mouths. Both of you were blushing profusely, and Kenny shifted on the bed, feeling the tightness in his jeans starting to bother him.

"I've wanted to do that since the fourth grade." You said, almost in a whisper, only for Kenny to hear.

"Then let's go use this $70 fat ass gave me and I'll take you on our first official date!" Kenny said, a small smile on his lips as he kept his arms wrapped tightly around you, as if a gust of wind could blow you away from him.

"I love you, Kenny McCormick."

"I love you too, Y/N, and I always have." Kenny sighed, the relief he felt come crashing over him. He no longer had to keep it a secret, he loved you, and you loved him, and that was all the mattered. You made him want to stay alive, you made him happy, and you made him whole. I guess soul mates really do exist.

"Can't People (of the same gender) Just Be Friends Anymore? "

This is gonna be a fun one.

I kinda never went over this in my, "Deku Is Straight" post,and I guess it is a little different; but it's still a very popular argument against just queer ships in general. So,I will bring up how queer shippers get treated in most fandoms and just some problems in the media when it comes to representation; but it will mostly be about GreeNade and BNHA.

(⚠This post is not supposed to be hating on any one! It's absolutely fine if people view certain relationships as platonic,but what's not okay is having double standards and being a godamned hypocrite about it. This is just addressing issues that seem to pop up mainly against the queer shipping communities; not some kind of hate post. I encourage everyone to try and have an open mind and to try and be respectful of everyone's opinions.And as usual: as long as something is legal,ship away!⚠)

If you could not tell the ones on the top are taking about this scene:

And,from what I'm reading,they didn't get it. Bakugo didn't do it for "humanity" he didn't do it because Izuku is just a good friend of his. His.Body.Moved.On.Its.Own. He wanted to protect Izuku so badly that his body made him do it. He also copied Izuku,like when Izuku's body moved in its own...? Y'know,like,the scientifically proven thing you do when you love someone in a romantic way?

(*Also,when Izuku does this for Ochaco he second guesses himself and forces himself to do it unlike with Kacchan. Just found that interesting; and Izuku even says "it wasn't like last time" because he had to force himself to move. His thoughts also get cut off before he can come to a conclusion...hmmm,interesting.*)

Which Izuku has done this about a million times and even admits to it,

but chapter 285 is where Bakugo mirrors Izuku(he has,I believe in some other moments in the manga,I can't remember for sure; but this is the chapter it's most apparent in.) ,he also does the analyzing thing Izuku does.

Okay,now that is the significance (there is so much more that makes it so beautiful but that was just some of the quick stuff) So,can we really call this "friendship" ? Honestly,I guess,if you don't know anything about the relationship prior to this scene...actually no that's wrong. My Aunt saw this scene and asked if they were canon,she had not known anything about bnha/mha at the time. And when I gave context she was like, "so they're gay,?"

So, yeah. That scene even with no context; looks like someone dying for the person they love. But,perspective.

Here's the thing I'm addressing in this post. It isn't, "Guys,they don't do this for their other friends and they mirror each other on accident and the author himself doesn't refer to them as friends,ect,ect." There is too much that supports them being romantically interested in each other,but that's not the point. The whole "Friendship is dead,isn't it?" because people can see two dudes/girls liking each other romantically is.

And that moves us to the next section of this post.

Double Standards

The only time when someone says something like this Is when it's between people of the same gender. They aren't mad at people for shipping Momo with Izuku because they're just friends,that's okay because...don't tell anyone this is a secret antis have...they don't care as long as it's straight.

If it's queer it's "Friendship dead :(" but if it's someone like Melissa it's okay. It's honestly so...pathetic.

"Boy and boy have to be friend or my life is over 😠" or "Gal Pals or my life is RUINED 😨" Like, I have never seen someone get mad about straight ships like this. Honey,if someone said, "WHY can't a guy and girl just be friends for once?" Everyone would laugh in their face. Which is actually something I wish was normalized more. Once I had a dude friend and my whole family made fun of us and I literally cried because I had just figured out I liked girls a lot more than boys and I was having this thing pushed on me. That does not happen with gay people,actually get this,being called gay is still used as an insult.

(*That first one though...Like do they not know there are several canon trans characters and bisexual characters in bnha? And the Izuchako drawing 💀 I cried I was laughing so hard the first time I saw it.*)

If you know about the sonic idw comics,there are these two characters Whisper and Tangle. People instantly started shipping them because they were so cute with each other,but other people were mad because "two girls just can't be friends anymore" and it pretty much happens in every show that isn't LGBTQ+ centric.

Because people aren't going to read/watch Heartstopper and go, "Uh,these guys are straight why do you keep shipping them?" And as much as I love that we are getting stories and shows all about the queer experience, it does still piss me off that if it isn't something like a queer romance drama and or comedy people get mad at queer people for being in other things. People will be like, "You have shows that are centered around being queer,stop bringing it into our stuff," and it's exhausting. Like,there are billions of T.V shows,moves,books,comics,ect,that have nothing to do with a romance centered plot but they throw in this random hetro relationship that doesn't add to the characters or plot.

And that's one of the reasons I love BloodBubbles and GreNade,they add to the characters and parallel the story into their dynamics. I think all romance in stories should be like that. If a romantic relationship doesn't add anything but a little *smooch* *smooch* then it is ultimately useless. I understand if people like the *smooch* *smooches* but don't act like the relationship is well developed and needed. With a romance centered plot the romance is obviously needed. But does it mean it's good? Hell no. Most romantic movies have the characters fall in love in a week. That's just my opinion though.

Conclusion:

Stop using the "can't two people of the same sex/gender be friends anymore" argument,it just shows how much you do not know about queer people/relationships or just relationships in general. Queer people should be able to be represented in (God forbid) a Shonen and just media in general that isn't just a romance show. Everyone has different thoughts,opinions,and experiences,that shapes them into having a different perspective on things; but just because they have a different perspective doesn't mean it can disprove a plantain fact: Straight people have representation. Straight people do not need to fight for it either. So,stop fighting to be oppressed so badly.

This is the angle number for 285! The chapter Bakugo's body moved on its own. I find the angle number being about kindness very interesting. :)

To be honest, the Stackson friendship happened by accident lol. I wrote one fic with Stackson broship that was unplanned, it kind of just progressed throughout the fic, and went "Hey... wait a minute..." lol

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind Sciles friendships, I am just more geared towards assholes who are secretly marshmallows so I tend to gravitate more towards Jackson when I write friendships. Scott and Jackson serve different friendship purposes in my brain. Scott is like, the soft tones, and Jackson is the hard tones.

But thank you for appreciating the Stackson broship, they are definitely always fun to write for me :D

It’s absolute and utter ridiculousness.

Chapter 200something: This fandom cannot be normal about Choso and I’m there for it

This time for real, no sign of intelligence beneath the cut.

And this week Gege went for the cheese.

Enough cheese for some nachos.

Yum I love nachos.

Hi, I am V, I am the Mental Gymnastics Girl Anime Psychologist whatever that means, and I love Choso and can’t be normal about him.

Honestly, anyone who can get this reaction out of Megumi has got to be really creepy because Megumi doesn’t strike me as someone who is easily spooked. He’s also super psychic so I wonder what vibes he’s picking up from Choso since he’s a half curse.

But anyways, that’s why I love Choso, Gege is always reminding us that he’s a little weird in the best way possible, and I love him all the more for it.

But my favorite part about the chapter was how Gege showed us that Choso basically powered up thanks to the power of broship--just simple, unadulterated power of friendship with a twist, your bros.

Typically this variation of the trope is used in a moment of major despair just when you think everything is lost and you could really just use that one special friend whose power you can rely on.

And with this trope, as per usual, the power of friendship that you borrow from your friends (who are there in spirit) saves the day.

Cheese.

I love cheese!

Oh God.

This chapter was so cheesy and that’s kind of what I loved about it because it was so in character with Choso.

And, honestly, Choso really did need the power of friendship to help him power up, because Kenny just looks utterly unimpressed the whole time.

Consider him unimpressed. That’s how powerful Kenny is.

But none of this matters because Gege gave us this beautiful panel of a shirtless Choso proving yet again that JJK is less about Buddhist monks and more about sexy two-dimensional shirtless men.

And JJK Twitter just cannot be normal about Choso and I’m there for it.

She likes dramatic entrances

I love her dramatic entrances and I’m looking forward to seeing her kick ass.

Also, Yuki calling Choso onii-chan is...........

Am I the only one who thought that she looks like she sure as hell is enjoying playing the “imoto” role a bit too much?

Gege is so weird and I love him all the more for it.

I also think I get why Yuki and Choso are shipped now.

Am I becoming a Kenny apologist?

Of course I hate him!!!

But with this chapter, he kind of piqued my curiosity. I just love me a compelling character with a fascinating backstory and motivation.

If you think about it, Kenny is basically a 1,000 year old, bored as hell, enlightened brain.

I am not sure that it’s canon that Kenny is “bored” but...

He’s been trying to experiment at mass scale for at least 1,000 years, and he’s been waiting for the exact set of circumstances in the JJK-scheme of things for who knows how long.

I just get this impression that for someone who’s super powerful and has seen all the human drama there is to be seen over the last 1,000 years, Kenny needed a way to amuse itself.

And what better way to do so than by becoming a mad scientist?

ALSO.... enlightened brains that seek to control humanity is so Psycho Pass.

Do you remember when JJK used to look like this?

I love the artistic journey that Gege has gone through because his art has always been good.

But recently it seems like he’s hit a sweet spot and polished his very own unique art style.

In JJK the strongest characters are those who have an overwhelming sense of self. And I feel like there’s something in Gege’s art about how he is discovering and embodying his sense of self more deeply--which ultimately translates into his art changing and improving along the way.

What do all y’all think?

I write these rambles because I love writing, I love overpsychologizing everything in case it wasn’t obvious, and I love JJK. But I admit I share the rambles to interact with the fandom. So I always look forward to your thoughts too.

I try not to be online too much nowadays because I am actually a workaholic and if I’m scrolling mindlessly all the time then I don’t get much work done.

So thanks for your patience if you do write in. I still have one juicy ask to get through!

Okay soooo there’s a lot to unpack here.

- First of all, the four boys chanting “Let’s go Nuggets” at the beginning made my heart so happy omg.

- OMFG STAN BURN FARM AND SHELLY FUNERAL WE SAW IT ALL YOU GUYS HHHHHHHH (SHARON’S VA ATE THAT FUNERAL SCENE UP THE REALISM HAD ME CRYINGGGG)

- the fight scene with token was so random and unexpected but i stg it may have been the second greatest thing in this special lmao

- tweek standing up and saying that he’ll do whatever he can to help stop covid just…it’s great. like, yes nervous blond man, you go find that tin foil with ur husband

- the whole anne frank reference they did with menorah was okay ig

- the scene where craig n those guys realize they need tin foil and connecting the dots as to who victor chaos really is was fucking brilliant. we as an audience already figured out that vic is actually butters wayy before this special even aired, the beauty of it all is that the audience knows, but the characters dont. so seeing them put the pieces together and letting the mystery reveal itself was not only satisfying to watch but also really clever. like, wendy and token and all those guys didn’t say what they were thinking, but we KNEW what they were thinking. (i suck at analyzing things dont come for me pls i just think its neat :( )

I can't believe it though. I can't believe Kenny died. Because he wants his three asshole of friends to be back with the broship that ended when in the pandemic. I can't believe them also I felt sorry for them. Also,I have been mentally scarred for a lifetime because of Cartman. The guy who has a toxic relationship with Heidi and hates Jews comes back for 40 years has become a fucking rabbi,married a Jewish woman and had three children,Stan has now become a wine reviewer and Kyle not so much.

well it's not true they caused the pandemic, that's randy. I think Kenny was just both generally mad at them for being so stubborn about a stupid fight from 40 years ago and missed them as a friendgroup so much he spent his entire life trying to get it back. and he blamed it on them but i mean, the pandemic started even before they broke up so...

I do love jewish cartman though. like, if you asked me about what my ideal future cartman would be i'd say out of the closet and married to kyle BUT the next best thing is him being a fucking rabbi, married to a woman with children and doing SO MUCH BETTER THAN KYLE. it's poetic and beautiful and proves that not only was he never a jew hater, just wanted to annoy kyle, but also that he can move on without kyle and have a wonderful life and a loving wife and family.

cartman's relationship with heidi got toxic because kyle and butters stepped in and made him insecure about it, which made the relationship no longer equal and made cartman go back to his selfish, eternal victim ways (kyle threatened telling heidi cartman was a little shit and butters planted his stupid seasonal misogyny).

but now he's in a good place and notice the eldest daughter looks bigger than the sp kids were as kids so she's over 10.. so he's happily married for over a decade. he loves his wife, mad about her. I love him.

the life stan had are SO sad. he's living his worst timeline probably. feeling hated and judged (in small towns this feeling gets so suffocating because everyone knows and talks) and probably hating and judging himself for what happened, being isolated from his friends, hating his only family left.. actually holding a job like that is impressive. I do love that he's married to alexa tho sdfsf its funny.

and I absolutely LOVEEE kyle being stuck in place. stayed in south park? doing online counseling as a job? kyle is the one from the 4 who did not manage to move on. he's still mad at stan for the same argument, still obsessed with cartman and thinks it's mutual... I love it. I love how angry he is. I love that he can't see cartman happy

Legacies

Well that was a really good mid season finale. RIP to Kaleb’s car, maybe Santa can give him a new one. I wonder who that guy was that had such a murderous affect on Kaleb and Ethan’s monster sides. The biggest shock of the episode was an actual teacher showing up to interrupt MG’s Super Squad meeting, telling him, Cleo and Ethan off for skipping school and listing the classes they were supposed to be in, then promptly fainting when Jed arrived with the flame grilled mystery guy to warn them Kaleb’s monster side was taking over. Poor Jed getting mangled for trying to help a stranger, I liked the way the whole pack rushed to rally round him when they found out he was hurt. The MG and Ethan broship has hit a reef this week after Ethan confessed to lying to MG’s face last ep after he was so open and honest with him and that he helped Lizzie get the stake that could kill Hope. I think MG was justified in telling Ethan he didn’t belong at the school after what he did, he wasn’t in control when he attacked Jed and tried to kill the mystery man but he willingly helped Lizzie get a weapon to kill Hope, lied to MG about it and lied again when he and Cleo asked where Lizzie disappeared to. His motivations were purely selfish because he said he did it so Lizzie would pick him and that goes against everything MG believes in, and he knows that going after Hope alone would likely get Lizzie killed.

Josie had a lot going on too (can’t believe she was using a Rita Skeeter type pen for her goodbye letter), I thought she would be breaking up with Finch since her therapy box word meant “alone” and she would have to be on her own to try and save Hope. I like that they did the mature thing and decided that Finch needed to stay at the school and look after the pack because that’s what she needed and Josie knew it was selfish and codependent to want Finch to come with her to save Hope so they agreed that they were gonna separate to do what they need for themselves and see how things go in the future.

This purgatory sub plot is dragging a bit. Like why does everyone else need one coin to get on the boat but Alaric, Landon and Ted need to fill jars first? As usual Ric’s solution to any setback is to get drunk and complain about everything meanwhile Landon is actually trying to get this over with. Ted has actually shown more care and understanding of Landon in the last few episodes than Alaric has done in the last few seasons. It’s actually kind of sweet how he and Landon have bonded and Landon sharing his coins with Ted even though he had enough to get a seat on the boat. Now Alaric is trying to cheat the ferryman by bringing in the Sphinx from season 2 for an escape plan.

Saving the best for last is the Lizzie/Aurora/Hope story, I’m glad the body swap issue got dealt with quickly and Lizzie realised her quest for vengeance wasn’t what she really wanted in the end. Her horror at hearing Aurora’s plan for Hope was genuine and helped her realise if she went through with it she’d be no better than the monsters she’d heard about growing up, and when it came down to it Lizzie couldn’t go through with killing Hope even when she handed Lizzie the stake herself. Aww Lizzie’s speech to Hope was so beautiful and raw I thought it really worked to get her humanity back, then the “panda promise” line to show it was really her. Aurora was proved right when she said “you can’t trust her. Once a Mikaelson, always a Mikaelson.” I literally gasped when Hope revealed she was pretending to get her humanity back (although at the time I thought it all happened really quickly and where would they go from there). She really fooled Lizzie and when she snapped her neck I couldn’t believe it, but I knew this would have to be Lizzie becoming a heretic. Josie feeling anxious and unsettled because she knew something was wrong with Lizzie since she couldn’t feel her through their bond and then seeing her on the bus was so bittersweet. Lizzie was smart to take vampire blood just in case Hope did kill her and I loved the conversation between the twins. No matter what they will always love and support each other. Then Josie must feel Lizzie waking up in transition and she’s wearing the talisman from Hope. Now that Lizzie is a heretic (and the first of Hope’s sireline?) maybe her and Hope will team up against triad and since Josie has left to save Hope will this be a Panda Squad adventure outside of the school? I’m glad Aurora got away and is back in her own body, that means there’s a dangerous and powerful enemy still out there waiting to strike and it would be a waste to get rid of her so soon.

I'm realizing I haven't rewatched OUAT in quite a long time, but I'm pretty sure I can list my favourite episodes without looking at an episode list:

1. 7x14 "The Girl in the Tower". Not only is it my favourite, I definitely believe it's one of the best written episodes in the whole series. The pacing only of the episode is spectacular I can't even. And of course lots and lots of Alice, KnightRook and Curious Archer feels!! And it's just so sweet aaaaahhh like I remember 7x13 hurting like a bitch and then next week we got that and despite the angst it also had it was like a comfort watch and I felt my heart heal from the previous pain, it was so beautiful ❤️

2. 3x05 "Good Form" I mean, I'm a Hook fan, is it any wonder, lol. In some of the many rewatches I've done I actually noticed some plot holes that don't need to be mentioned here, but overall there's so many good things about the episode, first and foremost Killian's willing and conscious transition to actually trying to be a better dude. Also the CS kiss was amazing to me even at the time when I first watched the episode, and I didn't even ship CS back then. Dark times, I know.

3. Season 3 finale, yeah I'm counting it as a single one. Again, I want to remind y'all that at the time I watched that episode, I wasn't even a CS shipper (though I was a full-blown Hook fan), but the whole adventure was such fun, the feels were great, the humor was good, CS spending time together and dancing and being on a secret mission (like yeah at the time I was mostly broshipping them so it was great fun to see their dynamic in this situation) and Hook being a great partner and Emma finding herself... Oh it was great.

4. 6x06 "Dark Waters", though as with any episode in season six, some scenes need to be skipped. But the essence of the episode, the relationship between Killian and Nemo, Nemo's character himself, the conclusion, the feels! Even just thinking about it I get them warm feelz.

5. 1x15 "Red-Handed". I just. Love Ruby. She's aesthetic goals and she's a great character and I just adored watching her go through her own adventure in Storybrooke and even being so relatable at times (like when she found that chest that had a heart inside it and she said she was freaking out even though she knew she had done a good job). And idk it's a good episode, with a good resolution, it's got Ruby... Yeah, I love it.

okay, so I don’t make these kinds of posts often because tbh I’m a little lazy and very tired like 24/7 lmao but I’ve been seeing a lot of Pride reading lists hit my dash (and they’re excellent, and I save them all!) buuuut reading books is still a roadblock I’m struggling to mentally overcome -- and audiobooks are great, but they take 84 years (sometimes literally???) to get through. so! I thought I’d share a (very tiny) list of the queer manga I’ve read this year that you might enjoy for Pride, with some descriptions/trigger warnings/thoughts to go with them. so here we go in no particular order other than where they sit on my bookshelf:

What Did You Eat Yesterday? by Fumi Yoshinaga

okay so I know I go on about this manga at literally every presented opportunity, but I honestly just can’t help myself??? as a thirty-something queer adult, I really love the quiet maturity of this relationship between Shiro and Kenji; especially when it’s highlighted by references to shenanigans of their youth, and the ways in which they are still growing as both individuals and a couple. I’ve only read the first six volumes but I’m OBSESSED.

Status: Ongoing (17 volumes; 15 translated) Summary: Shiro and Kenji are an established adult couple with separate careers and interests, whose relationship is depicted over the meals cooked for them by Shiro. This doesn’t have an overarching plot, which might be off-putting for some readers; each chapter can be compared to a fanfic one-shot, usually containing it’s own tiny storyline or theme. It’s literally just domestic moments and meals shared between these men. Warnings: While I didn’t personally have a problem with this, younger readers might find some of the dated terms offensive. If you’ve spent any time with older queer folks (older as in 45-50+) this won’t be anything you aren’t used to, but if your experience of queer folx skews younger or online, you might get taken by surprise. There’s also some internalized homophobia; and by some I mean quite a bit. Shiro’s personal arc (at least in the first six volumes) heavily revolves around how much he closets himself and tries desperately to pass as “normal” in Japanese business culture.

holy shit holy shit holy SHIT. this story is so good??? so VERY good??? I was a little cautious, and a little bit uninterested in a story about teens (only because I’m in my thirties and crave more adult representation,) but I was VERY WRONG to be. Boys Run The Riot is beautifully drawn, beautifully written, and probably my favorite work on this list. the mangaka is also trans so the inherent understanding and nuance of our protagonist’s experience is really lovely. Also featuring a fantastic brotp between a trans boy and his new himbo bestie; no seriously if you want a story about a trans boy getting to have good broships with other boys his own age I CANNOT stress this enough. Volume two is releasing next month; I have it preordered. I’m laying on my floor wishing for time to hurry the fuck up. I need more of this smol angry trans boy and his big soft himbo bff. PLS. Status: Ongoing (4 volumes published; 2 translated) Summary: Ryo Watari is a second year high school student who is trans and struggling to feel comfortable with his very rigidly structured life at school, at home, and among his friends (to whom he is not out.) By chance he meets Jin Sato, a cis boy who also feels outcast (often judged for his appearance without any deeper thought.) When Ryo comes out to Jin in a state of frustration, Jin accepts who Ryo is and makes an offer -- why not start a fashion line that subverts all the expectations that have been put on them both; why not express themselves even when they’ve been told they shouldn’t. Warnings: Ryo is struggling with gender dysphoria, and it is written by someone who has probably experienced it, so it might be a little real for any trans folks who deal with that. Also, while neither the narrative nor Jin misgender Ryo (at least, not once he expresses to Jin that he is a man), Ryo is not out to anyone else and so he frequently is misgendered at school and we see how badly that impacts him and the way he views himself and processes his emotions. Ryo spends a lot of time being angry and trying to swallow it down, and that can be very raw to witness at times. There is also a depiction of unsafe binding (though the mangaka has an immediate note about binding safety, and goes further in-depth at the back of the manga.)

Our Dining Table by Mita Ori

okay, so I was a bit on the fence about whether or not I wanted to include this as a rec, but I decided that it might actually been what someone wants or needs, so here it is! while I really enjoyed this concept, and I’m always a sucker for found family stories (let me tell you I’m queer without telling you I’m queer, much?) it feels like this story is a bit rushed at times, and the romantic relationship between our protagonists is very blink and you’ll miss it. I don’t even want to call it subtle so much as it is just not remotely the focus of the story so it’s a little startling when it happens. but! if you’re looking for a story about adults processing grief and trauma together, and learning how to care for another person (and as a result, learning how to care for themselves,) this is a nice read that isn’t too heavy! Status: Complete (one volume) Summary: Yutaka is a salaryman whose past experiences prevent him from reaching out to others, even through something so simple as sharing a meal. Despite this is REALLY loves to cook, and wishes he had a reason to do it more often. Then he meets Minoru, and his muuuuuch younger brother Tane (it’s like a 17 year age gap between the brothers?) and finds himself teaching them how to cook, and overcoming his fear of eating in front of others. Warnings: Good news, there’s no overt homophobia in this story! Bad news, the other trauma makes up for it! We have a lot of trauma surrounding parental death, childhood bullying, and adoption; in addition to an actual fear of eating in front of others.

Our Dreams at Dusk / Shimanami Tasogare by Yuhki Kamatani

this is the first manga series I collected, and I’m still very pleased about that. the art is ABSOLUTELY stunning? the use of visual imagery and surreal analogies to explain queerness is fucking on POINT. I cried so hard during a couple of these volumes I developed a migraine. I only have one piece of critique on the whole thing (addressed in the warnings,) and I intend to do another re-read when I’m ready for the catharsis of sobbing into my pillow again. Like Boys Run The Riot, Our Dreams at Dusk is drawn and written by a member of the queer community (a non-binary mangaka, this time,) and as a result it hits pretty fucking close to home in a lot of ways. while I really love this series it’s super not for the faint of heart, you WILL come out of this reading experience with some things to unpack. Status: Completed (4 volumes; 4 translated) Summary: We mostly follow Tasuku Kaname, as he is outted at school by a classmate as being homosexual, and his initial despair and subsequent journey of acceptance. In this process, Tasuku finds himself at a drop-in center, which seems to primarily function as a safe space for queer people; we meet several lesbians, an elderly gay man, a trans character, and a young character who isn’t ready for any kind of label because they are still ??? about themselves and their identity. Each of these “secondary” characters is given room to breathe and to work through difficulties of their own while Tasuku watches and learns that even though life is hard sometimes, there’s beauty to be found in one’s own strength. Warnings: hoooo boy; well there’s all kinds of homophobia and transphobia; a character is outted against their will (multiple times), there’s some really insidious transphobia covered by “concern”, there’s internalized homophobia everywhere, and a very complicated asexual character whose presentation left me (as an ace) with super mixed feelings and a lot of frustration (though I wouldn’t call it bad necessarily; just wanted to put that out there for my fellow asexual folks.) If you have read (or go on to read!) any of these, please let me know! I’d love to chat about the stories, and hear your thoughts on them -- because we’re a broad/diverse community and our own experiences shape us differently and give us different insights. <3 ANYWAY, for those of you who read this monstrous self-indulgent post, thank you! aaaaaaa my favorite blasty boy katsuki bakugou!!!!! <3 thank you anon!!!

favorite thing about them: dhjdkdajh how do i choose??? it's a well known fact how much i adore katsuki. for one, i think his determination and insistence on total victory is just so inspiring. his absolute certainty that he will succeed is something i've always admired about people irl bc i am not a confident individual myself. it's incredible to see others who are so assured and strong!! (also. i love me some hard shell, gooey center kind of motherfuckers, and that gremlin fits the bill extremely well.)

least favorite thing about them: hm. this is a hard one as well. i love how complex his character is so there are so many flaws of his that i find fascinating. maybe how he refuses help/has to do things himself? (at least earlier on in his development). it's not something i dislike about him, i just want him to be able to heal and grow and i'm glad that he's starting to understand (through seeing it happen to deku) that he can't go it alone. <3

favorite line: oh god, there are so many i could choose, especially from the recent chapters. but the one that comes to mind immediately is an old one that gives me shivers every time: "But at that moment, without thinking, my body simply moved on its own".

brOTP: i love the bakusquad interactions! going on hikes and training with kiri (honestly i love their broship so much!!! they're cute romantically too but i just adore some guys bein' dudes as well), playing video games with kaminari (kami's actually really good and he and baku team up to wipe the floor with randos online), picking up some comics to read with sero (this seems like a random thing but sero would totally mention he liked some of the manga/comics on baku's shelf and invite him all chill), shopping with mina (he would say he hates it but he lowkey loves helping her pick things out and dress up but if you tell anyone about it you're fucking DEAD). also. having a broship with ururaka is one of my favorite headcanons. (they train quirkless until they're both beat the hell up and then go get bubble tea) <3

OTP: you can probably guess from my blog, but bakudeku for sure!! i'm a big fan of todobaku, tdbkdk, tdkrbkdk and all of the other combos as well!! also rarepair shinsou and bakugou as the exhausted, judgy gays??? iconic

random headcanon: he has a beautiful singing voice. don't get me wrong, i love that scratchy growly-voiced boy so much, i wouldn't want to change anything about him! i'm just enchanted by the idea that his singing voice is clear, open and well-trained. he took music (drum) lessons as a kid, so i don't think it's super far off to think he took a few singing lessons too. just imagining this gremlin having a pure, clear sound is just.... *swoon*

unpopular opinion: hmmm. THESE ARE HARD TOO i'm just gonna do more headcanons lmao. he's allergic to pears. don't ask me why he just is. he seeks human contact when he sleeps, which means he's a MASSIVE cuddler. but he runs like a fucking FURNACE so it's a nightmare for his cuddler partner(s). acts of service is his love language (which idk if that's a headcanon or just facts lmao) but he has no idea how to respond when anyone does ANYTHING nice for him. he either yells about it not being necessary or just goes eerily silent and it unnerves anybody that doesn't know him well. he complains about it but he LOVES cooking for his friends. it's something impressive he can do "perfectly" and have an immediate positive response to. when he notices his friends having a bad day, he makes their favorite food and shoves it in their face like "shut up. don't say anything i hate you feelbetteriguessBYE" <3

Was it a process for you to tell yourself that you can still find men beautiful even though you are gay? I'm having a day so I'm at a weird place anyway, but I started a new show and there's a guy and he's very, very beautiful. And sometimes I'm stopping myself from looking because you're gay and you can't look at men. It's exhausting. "Checking" to see if this guy is attractive, am I attracted to him. I'm struggling with comphet too so it's one great big mess and I hate it.

I’ve sort of always known I was gay, so this more hit when I was like 12-15 years old and trying NOT to be. Or trying to tell myself I could like men, too. I remember trying desperately to figure out why I could find some dudes pretty, but why my entire self rebelled at the idea of kissing them or having anything other than a broship with them. In the end, it just sort of boiled down—for me; it’s gonna be different for everyone, I’m sure—to realizing finding someone pretty isn’t enough to form an attachment. It’s sort of the same concept as finding celebrities attractive: visually, they may be stunning; the persona they put on may be wildly intriguing; but ultimately, they’re putting on an artifice I can’t connect with, because they’re strangers. That whole vibe of “even if you’re beautiful, I can’t feel anything real for you” is also how I’ve always felt about men. If that makes sense. Whereas women have always felt attractive AND magnetic on a level that can easily evolve into love/etc.

It’s also a good thing to remember sexuality is a spectrum. No matter how gay you are, I don’t know that it’s healthy to tell yourself you’re not ALLOWED to find someone who doesn’t fit into your “box” attractive. For one, gender is super slippery—forcing yourself to only look at who you feel you should want can lead to some unpleasant outcomes re: genderqueer/trans/non-binary folks. And for another...it can just be exhausting for you, like you said. It’s okay to look at people and recognize parts of them are beautiful, even if you don’t want to sleep with or date them. It doesn’t make you any less gay, to find an aesthetic appealing, especially one that doesn’t offer any genuine connection (like an actor in a movie)—just like it won’t make you any less gay to not want to emotionally engage with every woman you find attractive.

*gasp* Dude, Waiting is PERFECT- it is defo one of my favorites, it does NOT need to change. And that is coming from someone who was early on the Stackson broship! I am all for loving the bromance and still enjoying the canon-like levels of douchbaggery and evilness they played with far too often on the show. I know there are tons of Theo lovers out there but I put my 1 cent (u get half off!) on Matt being the better option. Heck, he literally says that the two make a pretty good pair 0=P 1/5

Not gonna lie, I sometimes enjoy stories where Jackson is the bad guy all the more because it helps show the other side of what he could have been if the show had ever given them a chance. For me, it is not about whether Jackson is misunderstood - but about what thread you want to bring into the spotlight and pull taut. The more you do so, the more you can see all the layers begin unravel. It is a bit like examining the extremities to reach the perfect balance at the center. 3/6

I loved your bad/evil Jacksons just as much as I love your bro-awesome Jackson. I can appreciate the latter much more because of the former. But I am weird like that. Honestly, I do not think I could trust someone to truly deliver the perfect Jackson & Stiles bromance if they didn't fully understand their past and all of the ways it wouldn't and shouldn't have worked. Anyways, all of that was to say - keep on keeping on. You rock! 4/6

I never got to the end (as I repeatedly say |D) but I know that later in the show they’re less hostile towards each other and idk, I like the idea of that growth. But thank you!~ I’m glad you like the fics just as they are, and I’d never like, re-write them and replace what’s on Ao3 (I am a firm believer of showing the growth/learning from mistakes so I never delete anything even if I hate it).
