November F1c Prompts Day 3
Day 3 - Scent (floral/fruity)
You fire off a text as the plane taxis to the gate, letting Daniel know you’ve landed safely. As soon as the message sends, two ticks appear underneath and three dots appear on his side of the screen. You stifle a grin at the mental image of him waiting by the phone for your message like a schoolgirl.
Danny 💕 I know, I was watching 😅 x
You expand the mental image to him watching the flight radar, and feel the absent-minded smile stay on your face. You’re familiar enough with airports by now that you move mostly on autopilot, bag slung over one shoulder.
Danny 💕 Call me when you’ve got your bag? x
You can’t begrudge him the desire for contact; it was a poorly timed but unavoidable work trip that had kept you apart for more than two weeks. You almost wonder how you ever did it, before you moved in together; so used to having incidental time now, filling all the spaces between plans and races with a shared life.
You hit the phone icon by his name as you watch the baggage carousel spin around.
“That was quick!”
“I’m still waiting, just wanted to hear you.”
“Aw, babe.” You can hear the softness around the edges of his voice. “How was the flight?”
The carousel keeps turning, people impatient and clogging the space close to it. “It was fine. Nothing special. You’ll be pleased to know I got all of my Grey’s Anatomy watching out of the way though, so you’re spared the pain.”
He laughs the full belly laugh you love the most, the one that feels like sunshine on your skin and reminds you of eucalyptus trees on the farm in Perth, almost so much you can smell it. “You’re too good to me.”
“Correct. How are you feeling?” It’s an innocent enough sounding question, and it’s a gentle examination he can answer with as little detail as he likes.
“Eh.” You can Practically hear the shrug after he speaks. “Same-same. It’s fine.”
You used to be able to count on that answer being some variation on excited for the weekend, or excited to get in the car. (Now you don’t think you can ever look at that shade of orange the same again, not without some level of distaste). “Maybe the next upgrades will be what you want?”
“Who knows.” Daniel says airily.
You go to direct the conversation elsewhere, to ask how the kids have been since the last time you’d joined the twice-weekly facetimes, or something else that will make him smile, when you see your bag. “Oh, hang on, bag.”
“All good babe.”
You excuse yourself to the people standing in the way, all awkward smiles and trying to flatten bodies into too-small gaps, as if the two seconds saved will make a material difference to the rest of their days.
“Sorry,” you tell him. “Bag acquired. I need to call a car my love, can I call you back?”
“All taken care of bub. Go out the front.”
You want to wrap yourself around him, this sweet man who looks after everyone around him so effortlessly but has to be told (repeatedly, loudly) to let them do the same back. “You didn’t have to do that.”
“Turn to your left. Wait…no, your right.”
“Daniel, what..?”
He’s inconspicuous, in his ripped jeans and black hoodie, a cap underneath the hood. The smile splits his face wide open when he sees you, like the sun peeking out from behind the clouds. You stand still and just blink at him for a good few seconds, long enough that he laughs and holds out his arms. “C’mere.”
Quick steps (not quite breaking into a run, but it’s a close thing) carry you closer to and eventually into his outstretched arms, against his solid chest so hard it knocks the air out of both of you. “What are you doing here? I thought you’d left already!” He smells like his stupid expensive cologne, bright petrichor around the edges of the smell of him. “Shouldn’t you have left already, is everything okay?”
He kisses your forehead, eyes crinkled around the edges as he grins down at you, holding your  upper arms. “All good.” He reassures you, takes your bag and steers you towards the car park with an arm over your shoulders. “Changed the meeting I was gonna do before to after.” He kisses the top of  your head. “So we can leave tomorrow morning and I’ll just go straight from the airport to the track.”
“You didn’t have to...”
“Shh.” Daniel lifts his hand from your shoulder and puts it gently over your mouth. “I wanted to see you. I missed you.” He shakes you a little against him. “Didn’t you miss me?”
He has the voice on that would probably sound like joking to most people. you can hear the little bit of something raw in there. You drop your arm from his waist down to slide your hand into the back pocket of his jeans “Of course I missed you.”
You know there’s a little pleased smile on his face without even looking.
You don’t argue when he takes your things to put in the car, though you do stop still when you open the passenger side door and there’s a bouquet of proteas and banksias, paper daisies and Geraldton wax, dotted with billy buttons and surrounded by eucalyptus. The doors being shut has made the smell spread through the car, and it’s like stepping out onto the porch at the farm.
You’re sure Daniel is blushing when he opens the drivers side door, looking at you almost under his long eyelashes. Fidgeting. “Do you…I thought you’d like them. Reminded me of…anyway. Surprise?”
You swallow past the lump in your throat and lean across the centre console to kiss him softly, keep your foreheads pressed together and your hand on his cheek. “I love them. Thank you.”

Ronan With Nymph
a fic by mushroom with help from stick
With the midway station fully operational, Jack and Sam decided to take Nymph to Atlantis for a little holiday. it would be nice to check up on Dr. Weir, and Sam was itching to explore the city with Nymph.
they brought their carry-ons to the gate, and Daniel went to sadly wave them off.
"what's wrong, uncle Danny?" Nymph asked, her head tilting in a concerned manner.
"I'd love to go with you and see the city, but general Landry said I have important work to do and can't leave." Daniel sighed. he was completely unaware of the lengths that Nymph would go to to make her Uncle Danny happy. she floated up to the giant window of the command room, and tapped the glass to get Landry's attention.
"Mr. General, sir?" she called out to him.
Landry leaned into the microphone. "yes, Nymph?"
"can uncle Danny please come with us? he really wants to go and it's making him really sad." she gave him puppy eyes through the glass, and her power had completely taken over him.
"Dr. Jackson, prepare to embark to the midway station. don't forget to pack your bags."
Daniel looked confused, and even pointed at himself like there was another Dr. Jackson the general could've been talking to. with a confirming nod, he dashed to pack a quick bag before they dialed the gate.
~ • ~ • ~
the little family stepped through the event horizon into the magnificent Atlantis gate room, audibly gasping at how beautiful the Ancient architecture was. light spilled through the enormous stained glass windows, making colours dance all around.
Elizabeth Weir was right there to greet them, along with the AR-1 team. Nymph's eyes went wide as she craned her neck to see the giant that was Ronan Dex. Jack and Sam hugged Elizabeth, and started walking up to her office while catching up on different mission reports with John. Daniel was waved on to follow Rodney, and Nymph and Ronan were left standing in the gate room. one could only guess that everyone assumed Nymph had followed Jack and Sam.
"you're very big." Nymph remarked. "kinda like the trees."
"I guess you could say that," Ronan shrugged.
Nymph floated up to Ronan until she reached his height. he acted like that wasn't quite the weirdest thing he'd seen, but it was close.
"how're you doing that?"
"I float. the trees taught me how."
"that's kinda cool."
the two of them stayed there, awkwardness tangible enough to cut it with a knife. Ronan finally waved up at Chuck, who nodded and started dialing the gate with a thumbs-up.
"I was going off world anyway, you wanna come?" Ronan offered, pointing to the stargate as it spun to life.
"are we allowed?" Nymph asked, tilting her head.
"yeah, I already got permission. let's go."
Ronan held out a hand to guide her through the gate, and she hesitantly took it. When they reached the other side, there was a path through a field that led to a small village. Ronan guided Nymph to the tavern he had planned to go to. he wasn't sure how a drinking night with a group from Atlantis was going to go when he had brought this kid, but they were going to have to make do.
he opened the door and carried Nymph to the bar, mumbling a "stay here" command while he walked around looking for his group. she politely obeyed, looking even smaller sitting on the rough counter twiddling her little baby thumbs.
Ronan found the Atlantis base group, and brought them over to where he had left Nymph. Radek and Lorne just stared at her.
"that is a child," Radek remarked in his heavy Czech accent.
"Uh, Ronan, buddy, whose kid is this?" Lorne asked delicately.
Ronan shrugged. "she came through the gate with O'Neill's group. they were all busy, and I didn't feel right leaving her alone. so I brought her with."
Lorne looked like he'd seen a ghost. "You kidnapped general O'Neill's kid. we are accessory to the kidnapping of O'Neill's daughter, who he loves almost more than his fiancee."
"we are so fired." Stackhouse whimpered.
Ronan wasn't listening to their concerns - he was too busy arm-wrestling some grunt while telling Nymph a Satedan fairy tale. Nymph was equal parts enamored with the story, and uncomfortable around such shady people. her radar was going haywire in an underbelly place like this one, but she knew she was safe with Ronan and his friends. when Ronan turned his attention more towards the arm wrestle, she turned to the rest of the group.
"hi! I'm Nymph!" she smiled wide, showing her teeth. Stackhouse just whimpered again. Cadman rolled her eyes, and focused on Nymph.
"hi, sweetie! my name is Laura. are you having fun?"
Nymph nodded excitedly. "we went through the big stargate that's actually lots of stargates and we had to stay in between them for a little while and that was really boring but exciting at the same time. and Atlantis is so pretty!"
"it is a really pretty city! I get to live there, did you know that?"
Nymph shook her head, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Radek, Lorne, and Stackhouse were having a crisis beside them, but Cadman was actively ignoring them.
~ • ~ • ~
"So, now that we're all caught up, I think I'd like to get to know Nymph a little more," Elizabeth said. "There wasn't a lot of get-to-know-yous while I was at Stargate Command."
"true," Jack shrugged. Sam turned around to bring Nymph forward, but she was nowhere to be seen.
"Nymph?" Sam called out, craning her neck to see if the little girl had just wandered off. Jack glanced around quickly and joined in on calling her name. the calling quickly turned to panic as it was apparent that Nymph wasn't in earshot of Elizabeth's office. Jack and Sam ran out of the room calling out to her, Elizabeth joining in.
"Call Dr. Jackson on the intercom, immediately," Elizabeth ordered Chuck, who promptly summoned Daniel to the control room.
Daniel came running, and Jack met him at the stairs while Sam tried to help with the sensors.
"What's wrong, Jack?" Daniel was worried, but he didn't know why yet.
"good, Daniel, you're here. is there ANY chance that Nymph was with you, and you just left her in the care of McKay while you came to check out why we called you?"
"Noooo...?" he drew out the syllable, confused for a second and then realizing why Jack would possibly ask that. "she's LOST?"
Jack looked ready to pull out his greying hair as Sam came running down the stairs, shaking her head.
"I helped them programme the sensors to look for Nymph, and it doesn't look like she's in the city!"
"We'll find her, Sam, don't worry," Daniel tried to calm her.
"It's a big city, Daniel!" Jack snapped.
"and sensors are down in big parts of it," Sam continued. "she could've taken a transporter to any of those sections and we would never find her."
Elizabeth called down to them from the balcony, telling them to come over there. when they reached the control room, John was next to Elizabeth in full gear.
"my men are ready to start searching damaged areas, sir. don't worry, we'll find her."
Elizabeth glanced over at the DHD, which Chuck was very nearly hiding under.
"Chuck, you didn't happen to see anything, did you?"
his eyes widened in anxiety. I'm so fired, I'm so fired, I'm so fired. I thought Ronan had permission to take her. I'm so fired.
"um. IsawRonantakeherthroughthestar -gate," he mumbled, more like squeaked. Jack whipped his head around to look at him, his glare boring holes into poor Chuck's head.
"What was that?"
Chuck gulped, and stood up a little. "I saw Ronan take her through the stargate."
Jack, Daniel, and Sam all lunged at the terrified technician, and John and a guard quickly grabbed them before they could hurt him.
"I swear, I thought he had talked with you about it!" Chuck stammered, backing away from the three very furious guardians. "if I knew he wasn't supposed to, I would've stopped him!"
"general, I know where Ronan went!" John grunted through excertion. "in fact, once this meeting was over with, I was supposed to meet up with him. I can take all of you there."
they stopped fighting John and the guard, and nodded to Chuck to dial the gate. he did so with visibly shaking hands.
~ • ~ • ~
the door to the tavern kicked open with enough force to knock it off its hinges. The entire crowd turned to look at the violent entrance, and Nymph perked up at the sight of her family.
"daddy!" she exclaimed happily, raising her arms to get Jack's attention. he, Sam, and Daniel rushed over to her with tears of relief in their eyes, and enveloped her in a huge hug.
"Oh, honey, we thought you were lost!" Sam cried. "don't ever do that again!"
"sorry mama, but Mr Ronan said it was OK." Nymph pulled a hand away to point at Ronan, which made John just glare at him with an expression that meant "on what planet would you think that was a good idea".
Jack turned to Ronan in a fury, and John had to put a hand out to stop him from tackling Ronan.
"why in the world would you take my kid without asking?! and to some random off-world tavern?! what were you thinking?!" Jack roared.
Ronan shrugged. "I was heading here anyway, and I didn't think it was a good idea to leave her in the gate room."
Jack's eye started to twitch. "so send her up to us in Elizabeth's office! don't just take her off world without telling anybody!!"
Ronan shrugged, unbothered. John glared at him, trying to silently hint at how badly he messed up, but he either wasn't getting it or didn't care. Stackhouse, Lorne, and Cadman sat awkwardly at the table, unsure what they could add to this conversation.
Radek raised his hand. "general, if I may, she was unharmed and has been in sight of us since she walked through that door. and there's no one on base more qualified to stay with her on the way here than Ronan. she was perfectly safe the entire time."
"and she had fun!" Cadman piped up, which got a "stop talking now" glare from John. knowing that Nymph was OK had relaxed Sam and Daniel, who in turn attempted to calm Jack. Nymph was very confused about what was going on, silently pulling a juicebox out from her little bag. Daniel chuckled at the sight of her sipping her apple juice with wide eyes taking in her surroundings.
Jack took a deep breath, and picked up Nymph. "Let's just head back to the city, alrighty? Elizabeth still has some sights to show us."
the family turned and headed for the door, which was still off its hinges. Jack turned around apologetically, and John waved him off.
"one of us will fix it, go sightsee with your family." he shrugged. Jack raised an eyebrow, then walked out.

Brief Candle
I’m back! The holidays kinda took me out of the mood to watch new things rather than binge Star Trek for the eleven billionth time, but new year, new Stargate episodes! Booyah! Here we go, Season 1, Episode 9:
Okay I’m thinking Greek this time?
Yay, so is Daniel! I feel so smart.
Well, childbirth is something new for the series, sure.
Love everyone automatically looking at Sam. Just because she has the same parts doesn’t mean she knows what the hell to do 😂 Same, Sam.
I’ve missed the intro music 💗
Of course Daniel knows what to do! He’s our hero!
Well. Theoretically, he knows what to do. But they aren’t going to kill off a baby in the first ten minutes of the show, so I have high hopes.
Jack and Teal’c have noped out of that situation. Mood.
Aw, a baby! That is clearly not a newborn. But a baby!
Everyone is young and pretty - what is this, a teen drama?
Wow, this lady is not subtle at all.
And yet Jack is somehow startled by ‘the cake is only for you.’
Sam is definitely not surprised. Is laughing at your CO against regulations?
Also, all I can think of is ‘the cake is a lie.’ Wrong decade. But still.
Ma’am, you’re supposed to wait until your crush can’t see you before you trade high fives with your besties.
Oh good, the time honored tradition of tormenting your teammates is alive and well in Stargate. Always my favorite part 😁
Okay, judging by that last look Jack gave Sam for giggling, laughing at your CO might not be against regulations, but it is definitely not recommended if you want to stay out of the dog house. Or KP duty. Whatever.
Oh no, his vision’s going all fuzzy! WAS THE CAKE A LIE
She drugged him and is now... dancing for him? Oh and now dragging him away, that’s a little more what I expected.
Um, shouldn’t the team be fighting a little harder to intervene? This seems out of character? He just got dragged off by an alien stranger?
So the roofie wore off, Jack has no idea what happened, and he may have killed a woman with sex? This episode took a left.
Oh, everyone is just asleep. But then why does Jack look so freaked out? I mean, other than the roofie thing.
Ooooo awkward.
Bet there’s not training in ‘how to greet your team while wearing a sheet.’ I also bet that Jack wishes there was.
I can’t tell if Sam is accusatory or concerned.
Well, definitely concern all around now. Passing out will do that. What all is up with that cake?? Roofie *and* universe’s best sleeping medication?
Poor Jack. He is not having a good time.
Wait, the other people aren’t hungover. So is it not the cake that makes them pass out?
T’ealc’s ‘You never before inquired’ when Daniel asks why he didn’t tell him he knew what the temple symbols meant. He’s not wrong. 😂
Teal’c just casually opening up the statue while Daniel rambles. King.
That is a *really* cool tablet.
Aha! That’s why they made a big deal out of the birth mark! So we could identify this kid who’s growing up WAY too fast.
Wait, the original dude. He said 100 days of celebration or something. What if it’s not a festival, but some kind of sped up time thing? Sped up lives? Or is the planet sped up, and our intrepid heros are going to return home and find a year passed or something?
Looks like the former! So does each day equal one year for these people?
I’d make a joke about cradle robbing, but since Jack was drugged and not consenting, I’ll refrain. Also, if it’s 1 day = 1 year, then 31 years seems respectable.
A virus?
Oh no, that means Jack only has 100 days to live?! Or less, maybe? Not sure how that translates if they start out older. He was growing on me!
Whoa that sunset came on fast.
Yay, it’s the Cool Doc again! I’m glad she came back. She better not die like Kowalsky did after two episodes. I’ve got trust issues with this show now.
Floppy disks. Now there’s a throwback.
OH great, starting out older sounds like it accelerates this? So how much time does he have??
Holy receding hairline, Batman.
TWO WEEKS?!
I mean, he’s right to send them away, best to be on the safe side and they can make trips for info that they need. I’m glad their disease protocols are improving! Although considering they let Carter traipse back and forth... still not great.
Nanotech? Will that be easier to destroy than a normal virus? Just wave a big EMP in Jack’s direction, see what happens?
Pretty sure arguing with the statue isn’t a *great* use of your time, Jack, but I can’t really blame you.
MARRIAGE cake?
I’m not sure yelling at the woman about the only culture she’s ever known is really going to help matters here.
How does their aging work anyway - everyone looks young. Where are the people who are 70 or 80 days old? Or do they not visibly age after a certain point? But they don’t seem surprised by Jack’s appearance, so that doesn’t make sense.
Also, is there just like a *massive* graveyard somewhere if people are dying off so quickly?
I really need to stop trying to figure out the internal logic of a planet that, based on how the show has gone so far, we’re never going to see again.
How does Jack know that there isn’t like a forcefield or laser grid to keep the Chosen from leaving? I guess they probably scanned the area for things like that.
This is... possibly very sweet? I know Kynthia is trying to be nice, but sex really can’t solve everything, honey.
Also, are they going to have sex right in front of the Stargate? What if someone comes through. All ‘We have a cure!... OH.’
Could we have a Jack episode that *doesn’t* make me want to cry? Please?
Well, that’s taking de-throning a god very seriously.
Okay, this has been bugging me the whole time, WHERE do I know the blonde female alien from? The actress, I mean. I’m going to have to look her up after the episode, aren’t I.
They’re going to run into some sort of forcefield by leaving the village aren’t they?
There is some sort of... something? They’re awake? Jack isn’t younger, though.
The statue! Has a blinky thing!
Our team to the rescue!
They fixed everyone and Jack gets to live. Love a happy ending.
Aw. Maybe Kynthia can fall for someone new with all the years she has now. Maybe without drugging them first this time.

caspian wants me to keep spitting out ideas so rtsoot the walking dead/zombie au where wilbur, who's a survivor guiding tommy throughout the country, and daniel, who has lost his friends (seán and kevin) and now is desperately trying to find them again, cross each other's path in the middle of their journey.
thing is, wilbur who was originally fierce and the cool guy has now grown much softer and protective over his little adoptive brother who just wants to find a place to rest, who complains about being hungry, who can't stand the cold now that they barely can find any clothes that haven't been burnt or stolen by raiding groups. daniel, on the opposite hand, has not grown. instead, he has dropped the kind, calm, harmless and polite version of the man that got him through life up until that point, becoming merciless and a kind of savage his old self would not be proud of.
wilbur walks around with barely anything, an old, bloodstained, torn sweater, a backpack, a bat on his back and a machete on his hand, while the taurus, a small pistol, stays in tommy's hand after he learned to use it. daniel walks around in dark clothes, cargo pants, bulletproof vest, his mossberg shotgun never leaving his arms, a backpack with resources, a pistol on his waist and his brain turned off, because all he cares about is going back to his friends at any cost.
all of that is the reason why wilbur simply threw himself, with no hesitation, in front of tommy when daniel pointed the shotgun to the blond boy's head. finger on the trigger, bloodshot eyes from not sleeping in two days and having his one nap disrupted by a hungry, desperate kid who just wanted the crisps he saw beside a seemingly unconscious man. he begs him to not hurt tommy, tears on his eyes – something he swore he'd never let his brother see –, hands behind his head, on his knees as his eyes went from the shotgun barrels' inside and the green eyes above.
that was also the reason why rt decided to take them under his wing after noticing they were just... two dudes struggling to survive, who wanted to survive. his first encounter with tommy was awkward and uncomfortable – it was hell for the boy –, but slowly, he gains both their trust.
from then, they decide to follow the same path, as three is better than one, and than one and a half.
addition 1: rt can barely handle the recoil when he shoots, but the adrenaline and raw anger he's feeling everytime he pulls the trigger is enough to make it more than bearable. wilbur can handle that better, but he can't stand the way blood splattered all over him when he was the one pulling the trigger. that's why he lets rt keep it at all times, he trusts him enough. also, wilbur would rather let tommy have an intimidating memory of daniel – in case he's the one in charge of him – than of him covered in blood after painting the floor with someone's brains in a moment of need. he failed on that, but he hoped the grotesque scenes daniel constantly left behind would be enough to occupy his brain.
addition 2: eventually, rt is the one who finds out literally everyone is infected. he discovered this after he, alone, went on a little trip searching for a radio tower, where he made contact with a guy named nick (yes it's sapnap), and he gave the information to him for free since it had been a long while since the guy and his friends had heard about anyone (maybe, in the future, they could meet up) so he wanted to help him out as much as he could. rt was not that affected by it, he knew that one way or another a thing that could bring the dead back could spread like that. he only started feeling something, actual fucking panic, when wilbur did too as he came back from the trip and told him about what he had learned. the problem was that tommy was really, really sick, and having to kill him wasn't something wilbur was ready to go through nor had ever thought about. (he doesn't die tho he gets better i wouldn't kill tommy off i'd only make people panic a bit abt it then have him make an emotional comeback. i'm not carl'ing him jesus fuck)

Of course Daniel is a popular camp counselor! Everyone loved his energy and sense of humor, even quiet kid max? 👀
Max likes him a lot but largely keeps to himself. He's a lonely kid, and Daniel can tell. He sometimes gets along with the others but mostly seems awkward. Daniel tries to include him tries to compliment him. Max is so anxious.. so he's touchy in a friendly way helping him with things rubbing his shoulders and joking he feels so stressed. It was okay for a bit. It should have just stayed okay. Max is very quiet in the tent when Daniel does what he wants. Etc.

And a completely original character! From a universe I dreamed up... literally.
Name: Daniel "Dani" Daneson
Status: Manifestor
Gender: Genderfluid
Birthday: August 20
Age: 18
Height: 5'7"
Family: Unnamed Mother, Unnamed Father
Manifestations: Childish Wonder - Alice - Grants Shapeshifting powers, non-human Masculine Presentation - Manny - Grants Shapeshifting powers, Human/Masculine Feminine Presentation - Phoebe - Grants Shapeshifting powers, Human/Feminine Anger - Zappy - Control of electricity, ability to discharge electricity, ability to travel through power lines and the like Technological Skills - Point Dexter - Integrating with technology, intuitive sense of code, able to hack things with ease, near able to sink into code mentally
Personality: A bit withdrawn and awkward, mostly quiet in person. They prefer to blend into the background over stand out. They become more talkative if it's over technology or coding. They can be very kind to friends, but they have a hard time making them. Doesn't get a lot of sleep without being forced, and so is often tired.
History:
When they were young, they were rather neglected and didn't really have friends. Their father had ran off before they were born, and their mother really only gave them the necessities to live, but no real attention or love. She was distant and, in the end, obviously didn't want them. From this neglect, a lack of friends, and bullying from what few kids they did know, they ended up becoming a Manifestor, Manifesting Alice, the Manifestation of Childish Wonder, in order to try and preserve their love of the world and the beauty in it. Upon doing so, they were soon discovered by the government and was rather happily given to them by their mother.
While put into the private school ran by the government they ended up manifesting Manny, Phoebe, and Zappy. They were taught how to handle their powers, that the Government knew what was best for them and everyone else, and that the best thing to do is to kill Errant Manifestations and Corrupted Manifestors. By the age of 13 they had also Manifested Point Dexter and was being sent on missions on top of their classes.
It was on one of these missions at the age of 17 that they realized just how blinded they were to the corruption going on around them. They were sent to deal with an Errant Manifestation, a Manifestation with the ability to turn it and others invisible. More of a pest than a threat, but they weren't going to question it. While going to the area it was known to be, they met a young girl. They ended up talking with and bonding with her, a shy girl with almost no friends and often bullied heavily. They left her with her parents who seemed so happy to see her again. And then they went off to kill the Errant Manifestation. While it took a while to find it, thanks to their abilities, once they had it was easy enough to dispose of it. It had no offensive abilities after all. On their way back to town to find a place to stay before heading out, they thought they'd check on the little girl. Only to discover the horrifying truth, the little girl was dead, and the Errant Manifestation they were sent to track down? Was not Errant, it was the little girls's Core Manifestation. After a bit of digging through files they were able to learn that her parents wouldn't send her to go with the government, they wanted to keep her home and let her live a mostly normal life. The government didn't take well to this, and so sent them to kill her through her Manifestation.
Distraught and horrified, they never did go back to check in after their job, with only the meagre supplies they packed for the job and their laptop, they went on the run. They do odd jobs here and there, some hacking, some coding, or just whatever they can pick up. They also take jobs to deal with Corrupted Manifestors, something that they have determined truly does need resolved by killing them as they are far, far to far gone. And they also take jobs to deal with Errant Manifestations, though instead of killing them, they've taken to capturing them. At least till they can either find somewhere they can live on their own or helping someone who isn't their Manifestor, they find their actual Manifestor, or they determine they're truly Errant and to dangerous to leave alive.
Most of their time, though, between jobs is trying to find a way to reveal what the government is doing, and dismantle it.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Update: I just realized it's Carlos' birthday TODAY! I'm so so sorry hahaha I feel like a jerk, but it's just play pretend ok?
Guys, this is based on a dream I had but listen, it’s so weird cause I KNOW this is not like Carlos AT ALL. He’s kind of the vilan in this one... Please don’t be mad if you’re a Carlos fan, it’s just for fun, I swear. I’ll even try to write something with him later to make it up to you guys! Also, I clearly don't know how vacuum works in racing, so again, just humor me and pretend I got it right, ok?
As always, please take the time to let me know what you think, means a lot to me (even if it’s constructive criticism)! And thank you so much to everyone that always does! 💕 Your lovely messages always motivate me to keep writing!
Warnings: angst, jealous Daniel, kind of a dick Carlos (again, sorry! I know he’d never)
.
I was in the “side stage” at the press room for the Austin GP, the first I ever went and of course, the first with Daniel, as his girlfriend. He was answering questions along with Pierre Gasly on stage. There were a few people besides me, including some of the drivers, waiting for their turn to face the press.
"Coco, ¿quién es?" I heard Carlos Sainz whispering to his cousin, nodding his head in my direction.
"No conozco. ¿Creo que es periodista?" his cousin answered looking at me. I just acted like I wasn't listening, or understanding, not sure why though.
"No, si fuera periodista estaría allá fuera, haciendo preguntas" Carlos continued.
"Sí, pero no me parece estar perdida" his cousin commented, they kept whispering but I could hear them very clearly.
"Qué pena, no me importaría darte direcciones" Carlos said with a smirk and I felt really uncomfortable at that, which only made me stay even more frozen in place and wish Daniel came back sooner.
"Si no te conociera, diría que acabas de romper una relación. Ni siquiera puedes ver a una chica alrededor" his cousin said hitting him playfully in the head.
"¿Y te parece esta una chica cualquier? Siempre debes andar con supermodelos, ¿no?" Carlos joked back.
"Vale, tienes razón" his cousin answered him and I was counting the seconds for Daniel to come back now.
"Pero sin duda es nueva aquí. Me recordaría de algo como eso. Tampoco pienso ser americana, ellas no tienen esta-" Just then someone called him.
"Sainz, you're up next" Daniel walked out, coming by my side. "Hey" he said to me and I smiled. "They just asked to wait 5 minutes, something about changing the batteries of the mics" he said looking back at Carlos, his cousin, and Kimi, who was going to be pairing with Carlos in the press conference and was just hanging in the corner by himself this whole time.
"Alright, thanks mate" Carlos answered.
"Hey, have you guys met (y/n)? Carlos, Carlos, (y/n)... (y/n), Carlos, Carlos" Daniel made the introductions grinning like a teenager, probably finding it super funny that they had the same first name.
"¡Hola! Mucho gusto en conocerlos, soy (y/n). ¿Como están?" I extended my hand to greet them, feeling much more confident now that I had a 5' 9" Australian by my side. They looked startled at me and then at each other.
“¿Hablas español?” Carlos asked me.
“Sí, y compreendo muy bien también” I told him and my tone made it clear I knew exactly what they were talking about earlier and didn’t like it a bit.
"Carlos, Kimi, they're ready for you" an assistant called.
"Good one kid" Kimi said to me when he walked past us, winking at Daniel. Carlos followed him to the stage and since I didn't want to just stand there in the remains of the awkward situation with Dan and Carlos’ cousin, I just walked in the opposite direction, outside the press room. Not too long after, Daniel walked after me.
"Hey, what was that about?" he asked, still smiling. Boy, he wouldn't be smiling for too long after I told him what that was about.
"What?" I asked, trying not to make a big deal. He reached for my hand, taking it in his.
"You know what. Come on, what happened back there? Did you guys know each other?"
"No!" I have to tell him now, or he'll think I have something to hide. I took a deep breath. "They were talking between themselves before you come out, in Spanish. And I don't think they thought I could understand" he looked at me confused but then it hit him and his expression changed from confusion to rage.
"What did they said?"
"Nothing, it's not a big deal ok? I just wanted to let them know I could understand, so I just said 'hello' in Spanish, that's all" I said, walking away from the place where we were standing and pulling his hand. God knows I didn't want to be there when Carlos walked out, or better, for Daniel to be there.
"I figured that much. But what did he said? Just tell me" Daniel looked at me.
"Let's just go? Please? It's not worth it. What are you going to do? Sucker punch him?"
"Do I need to sucker punch him? Is it that bad?"
"No! Dan, please, let's just go. This is not going to lead us anywhere"
"(y/n)"
"I'll tell you. Promise. Back at the trailer, okay?" I tried to negotiate.
"Fine"
When we stepped back inside his driver's room, Daniel closed the door and looked at me.
"Alright. Spill it"
"Promise me you won't do anything to him"
"Absolutely not. The longer you stall me, the more pissed off I get"
"Okay” I knew I had no choice and honestly, why should I protect him really? I’m just worried about how this might make Daniel feel. “They were wondering who I was, his cousin was teasing him saying he was only interested because he just ended a relationship"
"That's not all" he said and I didn't answer, just looked away, shaking my head. "Alright. I'm sorry you had to hear that. But you can tell me these things ok? I want to protect you baby" He said stepping closer to me and hugging me.
"I don't want you to cause trouble for something stupid"
"Hey!" he said pulling away a bit to look at me. "This is not stupid. Nothing about you is stupid. It's a big deal baby, that’s plain disrespectful. I want you here with me, always. And I want you to feel comfortable here, okay?"
"I feel comfortable now" I said hugging him closer. He smiled and kissed the top of my head.
"Fuckers" he whispered to himself.
"Promise me you won't confront him. He'll deny, or start a fight. Or both. And besides, it’s not so much what he said, it’s more like how they were eyeing me. And I don't want you to get involved in a scandal" I said pulling away and sitting down in a chair. Daniel leaned against the table, looking at me.
"A scandal?" he laughed.
"You do know gossip is the major product of motorsports, right?" I smirked at him.
"Fair enough" he agreed. "Fuck baby, the things I have to deal with for having a goddess as a girlfriend" he was joking now, so the mood seemed lighter, but knowing Daniel, I knew he hadn't completely let that go yet. I just rolled my eyes at him. Hopefully, the events of the weekend would be enough to get his mind out of it.
.
.
Friday and Saturday kept us busy enough so that we didn’t touch the subject anymore, but I could still catch Daniel staring at Carlos here and there. And I could definitely see Carlos staring at me too, which I tried to avoid at all costs, staying out of his visual field. If Daniel saw that, I don’t know if I’d be able to hold him back again.
On Sunday I’d be watching from the garage with Michael and Blake, which was super exciting, to see all the action from the front row. But I didn’t want to disturb Daniel’s routine, so I tried to stay back a little. Yet, he kept coming to steal kisses and joke around. He seemed really relaxed and confident. He was P5 and I took the care to see that Carlos was P8, so I knew they might race each other eventually but I also knew that Dan would be much more preoccupied doing what he does best and overtaking the 4 in front of him to even think about whoever was behind. Everything was going to be fine, no harm done.
“Alright. Time to go” he announced to me. “Kiss for good luck?”
“Good luck. Just go and do what you do best, okay? And try to come back in one piece” I smiled through the kiss and then watched him take his helmet from the table, wink at me, and turn to walk towards his Mclaren. My chest was tight but I could only pray and hope now.
The cars were already outside the garage for some reason, so Dan was walking out when Carlos passed in front of the orange crew. He stopped to greet some of them and that would be fine, except he was not paying any attention to the people he was talking to. He was looking inside the garage like he was looking for something, or rather someone, cause when he saw me he nodded like he was greeting me and checked me out, head to toes. Dan saw it and looked back inside just in time to see me step aside, behind Michael, clearly uncomfortable with the whole thing.
“Hey... man” Carlos greeted Daniel. And his tone made me sure that it wasn’t even about me anymore. Carlos knew how much it must be bothering Daniel and was clearly using it to try and get him pissed off and unfocused. The thing is, very few things were capable of getting Daniel out of his “all good all ways” vibe, but when they did, you definitely don’t want to be on his way. I’m actually a bit worried about the other drivers now, Carlos included, because Dan just turned back to his machine, like he knew exactly what he was going to do and nothing would stop him, getting inside the car a mere formality. He didn’t even bother to take a second look at Carlos.
“Oh boy” I commented.
“Yeah, I saw it” Michael said to me. “What was that about anyway? I thought they got along fine”. I don’t say anything else, and from that moment on my eyes are glued to the screen in front of us, following any micro movement Daniel makes.
They go for the warm-up lap, which feels like it takes forever, and then, finally, Grid formation. That sign must be broken cause the lights also took hours to change.
3, 2, 1... there they go. Thank god we’re wearing masks, otherwise, my nails and fingertips would be long gone.
The first turn is a sharp one and Daniel had an opening to overtake Perez, the first driver in front of him, we could see it clearly from the drone view, but he didn’t take it. What is he doing?
“What is he doing?” Somebody in the garage voiced my thoughts.
“You had an opening Daniel” the engineer said on the radio.
“All under control. I know what I’m doing. How far are the others behind me?” Daniel answered.
I hoped he wasn’t doing what I thought he was doing but I already knew he was. Being the risk-it-all-idiot he was, Dan was waiting for Carlos to catch up to him. Knowing him, I knew he wanted to race and beat him personally, which was crazy stupid, but wouldn’t take long since Carlos had already overtaken Gasly and Alonso, and was now only a few nanoseconds behind Daniel.
“Come on Dan” I said to myself.
“Come on Daniel” Blake practically yelled at the screen.
I feel like throwing up. He’s gonna get hurt and jeopardize all the work the team put into the weekend just to... to what? I don’t even know. If he gets out of this race alive, I’ll personally kill him.
The race’s still going, no major changes after the first turn. Then suddenly Daniel seems to remember he had a gas pedal, finally getting speed in the big straight and leaving Perez behind. Carlos followed him, seeming to use the vacuum in his favor. Everybody in the garage celebrates, but I’m too focused to cheer along. He’s so close to the podium now. Just keep it up, baby. Carlos is still on his tail.
“Good job mate” the engineer says on the radio. “Watch for Sainz on your right. Bottas’ next”
“Keep me posted on Sainz’s time” it’s all Daniel says.
A couple more laps go and he’s really trying to overtake Bottas, not playing games anymore. Carlos doesn’t seem to try to overtake him even once though, he’s too far behind still.
More laps go by and I can’t standstill. When they’re in the 19th lap, with Max and Hamilton battling each other and taking turns in the lead, Daniel’s voice comes on the radio.
“Let’s be the first to box” I’m not sure what he’s playing at, as it’s still too soon to box, but the team seems to agree.
“Copy that. I’ll let you know when. Let’s get a couple more laps in. Keep this up for now” his engineer answers.
“Understood” Daniel’s voice come through the radio. “How’s Sainz time?”
“At least 1.5 seconds behind you” the engineer informs him.
“Understood” Daniel says.
He’s planning something. Not sure what, and I don’t know if I even could, not knowing much about racing strategies, but it definitely has something to do with Carlos and what happened earlier.
“Ouch!” I hear Michael say and nod towards the screen, making me focus on the race again, and not only on Daniel. Max and Hamilton had touched tires. “They're really going at it, definitely using way more tires than necessary"
"If Dan box before them..." I begin to ask.
"He needs a fast box, gaining speed later and for their box to be slower, but yeah, that's his best shot at them" Michael explains to me.
"Come on baby" I whisper to myself.
Daniel seems to finally get close enough to Bottas, but the Finnish guy won't make it easy for him. Turn 11 on sector 2 will be his best shot now and it's getting closer.
The garage and the radio go silent. Feels like the whole world is holding their breaths while Daniel smoothly overtakes Bottas from his left. And then I almost go deaf with all the cheering around me, it's a podium for Daniel, for now.
Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to last too long, cause once he comes to the box all the other drivers will pass him. It's just so frustrating.
"Good job mate. Spectacular time. Box now" the engineer informs on the radio.
"Box confirmed. We need to ace this, boys" Daniels says.
Not even a full minute later, I hear his car and see it on the screen. I look outside to see the orange machine with the big 3 in front of it, but I don't even have time to try and take a look at him, cause 2.3 seconds later (or at least that's what the TV tells me) there he goes again. The good news is, only Bottas passed him. The bad news is he almost crashes into Carlos when he comes out of the Pit Lane.
Some of the crew were still celebrating the fast pit stop when they realized what happened. I let out a gasp. They touched tires but Carlos seemed to have managed to get away from Daniel, quickly returning to his side a moment later but struggling to keep it up. Dan, on the other side, seems unbothered. He keeps gaining speed, even though the pit exit is right on the first turn.
"Take it easy now mate, even if Sainz passes you, his time is not enough to stay in front" the engineer informs Daniel, clearly worried that the risk doesn't justify the ends.
"Understood" Daniel responds.
We're on lap 30 now and just as the engineer said, Carlos is a full 2 seconds behind Daniel. Bottas still in front of him (which is frustrating for me because he had just overtaken him before the pit stop), then Hamilton, and finally Max.
"Daniel" the engineer calls him. "How're the tires?"
"All good"
"Good. Ready to race, mate? Hamilton's going to box now"
"Before Bottas?"
"Yes, that's confirmed"
"Understood"
I listen to the conversation between Daniel and the engineer closely, but I can't say I know exactly what the implications are.
"Bottas' going to second, Daniel to third again. Let's hope for a slow pitstop for Hamilton, so when he comes out, he comes in third and races Daniel. That's the best-case scenario, so he needs to gain speed now" Blake explains to me.
"Got it" I confirm to him. "What about Bottas? He should box on the next lap right?"
"Yeah. If Daniel overtakes him still on this lap, the difference will be too big for him to recover after his pit stop. Hopefully" He tells me.
There's a lot of 'hopefullys' and 'best-case scenarios' in this conversation, but I'll take it. I start to silently pray right away, eyes glued to the screen to see exactly what Blake predicted unfold: Hamilton pit stops, Bottas and Daniel are the firsts to go up on the positions, then Carlos, Alonso, and Gasly. The first turn comes again and Dan seises the opportunity to overtake Bottas, who, to his credit, is fighting real hard, but Dan isn't letting him take back his position.
Dan is P2 now. Max is almost 3 seconds in front of him. Hamilton comes out of the pit lane behind Gasly, it should take him long to again his positions.
"Bottas to box on this lap mate" the engineer announces.
"Not worried about Bottas. What about Max?" Daniel answers. A few moments of silence follow.
"Box confirmed for Max on this lap as well. Just get closer to him" the engineer instructs.
"Understood" Daniel answers.
"Come on, baby" I cheer silently again.
"Fuck! He's gonna make it" Michael yells. "Come on Daniel!"
Bottas is 2 seconds behind Daniel, and on the big straight Daniel manages to shorten his time difference to Max to 1.8 seconds. The next thing I know, Max is coming down the pit lane, quickly followed by Bottas. Daniel is P1. I can't believe this. Carlos is P2, but he hasn't boxed yet. Surprisingly enough, Alonso is P3 and, not so surprisingly, Hamilton is already P4 and gaining speed.
"Alonso hasn't boxed yet" Blake comments. That's bad news if we were hoping for him to defend his position against Hamilton. I take a look on the TV and they're showing the conditions of his tires, which to me doesn't mean anything.
"Will he be able to hold him?" I ask Blake.
"Not sure, he's tough though and doesn't want Hamilton to win, that's for sure" Blake answers me.
Then we hear Max passing outside, had almost forgotten about him.
"That took him longer than normal" Michael comments and we look at the screen, his pit stop was 3.6 seconds long. An eternity for the Redbull team. But awesome news for us. Bottas had already left the pit lane, his pit stop was 2.4 seconds long.
The grid is now Daniel, Carlos, Alonso, Hamilton, Bottas, and then Max. Alonso is still holding Hamilton back. Normally, I'd guess Carlos would box soon and maybe even Alonso, but since I know Carlos has some personal motivation against Daniel, I feel like he's going to hold on the longer he can and the same goes for Alonso regarding Hamilton.
We're at the final 10 laps now and nothing has changed, except Carlos is dangerously closer to Daniel now. Alonso still hasn't let Hamilton go by him, repeating the Hungaroring events. I hear the signal of the radio, indicating we're about to hear some communication between Daniel and his engineer, and my chest tightens. It's Daniel's voice that comes on then.
"Something wrong. I'm losing power" Fuck. No.
"Sainz is at your tail. Can you hold on?" the engineer asks.
"I don't know. Fuck. It's just not working. How much's the difference?"
"Less than 1 second"
"Fuck. Why hasn't he boxed yet?"
"His tires are in real bad condition. But I don't think he's going to do it now"
"I'll put some pressure on him"
"Negative. Negative. Stay away"
"Not going to touch him. Pinky promise" Bastard. I can hear the smirk in his voice, even though this is extremely dangerous and insane pressure, Daniel's still having the time of his life.
9 laps to go.
8 laps to go.
Carlos almost overtakes Daniel.
"Engine's not good. Can you do something?" Daniel asks.
"Negative. 7 laps to go mate, just hold it"
"Understood"
On the big straight of the 51st lap, Carlos overtakes Daniel, but then on the next turn, Daniel takes back his position. The sequel of turns that follows is the most nerve-wracking thing I've ever seen in my life, they're so close to each other, and at such a high speed that if they simply touch tires they would fly off the track and everything would be lost to both of them, maybe even their lives.
"Hamilton passed Alonso, mate. Watch out" the engineer informs him, and I look at the screen. Fuck.
"Fuuuuck" Daniel says on the radio.
It's the 52nd lap now, only 4 more to go and Carlos doesn't even signal a pit stop. He's going to try to make the whole race without it.
"Ferrari is not happy with him" Michael laughs a dark laugh. I knew he had a history of being stubborn but this is too much.
"His tires are at less than 10% integrity. How is he still going?" I ask.
There's the big straight again and Carlos falls a bit behind Daniel, but I've watched enough to know that that doesn't necessarily mean a good thing. Just as I predicted, he tries to use Daniel's vacuum to gain more speed and overtake him, Daniel doesn't let him through and get in front of him, making him almost go off track. That would be a "normal" movement, except Hamilton was using Carlos' vacuum in his favor and, when Carlos is forced to change directions, Hamilton hits his back left tire, which makes it blows off and it's a mess from then on.
Daniel is far from the whole ordeal by now, safe and sound, thankfully. But Carlos spins in the track, taking Hamilton with him. They both go off track and Max flies by, followed by Bottas, Charles (where did he come from?), and then Alonso.
"Are they alright?" It's the first thing that comes up to me to ask.
"Fuck! That was crazy. Is everyone ok?" Daniel asks on the radio.
"Positive. Everyone's ok. Keep going, mate. 3 more laps to go" the engineer informs him.
"Who's behind me now? Bottas?" Daniel asks.
"Max. But he's at least 2 seconds behind, we should be fine" I hear the engineer say and it's like I can almost breathe again. Daniel's going to win this thing. He's so close now.
"It wasn't Daniel's fault, was it? Can they punish him in some way for the accident?" I ask Michael.
"Don't know. He was defending his position, but he's been closing in Carlos ever since the begging of the race. Depends on how Ferrari and Mercedes spin this, they'll try anything that favors them" Michael explains to me in a worried tone.
They're in the final lap and Daniel's been clearly losing speed. Something's wrong with the engine. But it's the final lap, just a few more moments, come on baby, you can do it. Max is so close to him though, I wouldn't be surprised if the winner was declared based on the replay of the finishing line. The big straight comes up and Dan has to stay out of Max's front, so as to not give him any advantages.
I can barely see it, but at the same time, I can't take my eyes off the screen.
"Full force now mate, final sector. You can win this" the engineer says on the radio but Daniel doesn't respond. Max is right by his side, he's going to pass him.
There's smoke coming out of his car, the whole thing is going to blow off any second now. Oh my god, please just a few more seconds.
5 turns to go.
4 turns to go.
3 turns to go. Max overtakes him. Shit.
2 turns to go. Daniel wins his place on the podium back.
Final turn. Daniel's in the front, barely. They cross the finish line and the whole garage explores with cheering. There are people running outside to wave at him. I can only smile and hold my own head like it would fall off otherwise. He did it. He fucking did it.
"Woo-hoo! Yes! Yes! Fuck yes!" I can hear Daniel on the radio, screaming his lungs out.
"Good job mate. Spectacular work. First-class, really! Well done!" the engineer cheers on.
The next thing I know, Michael is hugging me and lifting me from the ground just to puck me back down and Blake lift me up again. I can only laugh at their excitement. I'm so happy for Daniel I can barely grasp it!
"Let's go!" Blake puts me down and runs outside the garage. I follow him out, to the place where Daniel is stopping the car, a bunch of smoke coming out and some people with fire extinguishers around it.
He's got his fists up, celebrating. But is still inside the car. Then he takes off the steering wheel and handles it to one of the mechanics waiting outside. He gets out of the car and stands on top of it, smokes still coming out from behind. It's a nice picture. I just hoped he got away from that thing before it explodes, but it's a nice picture, can't deny it.
Then he jumps down and run towards the crew, jumping over them, helmet still on. Everybody is celebrating and cheering, I can only laugh and clap at the scene before me. So much joy and happiness going on, the energy is amazing! Then I can see Daniel looking around, but since his helmet is still on, I have no idea what he's doing. Somebody seems to understand though and they wave at me, calling me to come closer. I approach, but I'm still unsure, don't want to get in the middle of the team's celebration. But Daniel grabs me, pulling me closer and hugging me. I just laugh, can't barely see him with the suit and helmet still on. He's saying something, but I can't understand a thing.
"What?" I laugh at his attempts to communicating with me. He opens his helmet visor and repeats.
"I fucking won baby!" He yells laughing.
"I know! I know! You won Dan! I'm so proud! You're the best baby!"
"I need to get this thing off" he says struggling to get the helmet and the balaclava off, when he finally manages to do it, he jumps over the fence that was separating us and hugs me again, lifting me in the air and kissing me deeply, making everyone around us cheer even louder and I smile against his lips. I wrap my legs around him and he keeps kissing me, only after a few seconds do I pull away to breathe and he touches our foreheads. I laugh again, just enjoying the feeling of pure happiness for him.
"I'm so proud of you. You were so good. This is crazy" I whisper to him.
"Get used to it, cause there's more where it came from" he answers kissing me again.

Tumblr media
To everyone else, you were one of the prettiest girls in school. Curvy, honest, caring, nurturing. You weren't the typical 'popular girl' who'd turn her nose up at other groups of students, and that's why you were so loved.
You lived at home alongside your older sister. Your parents tended to business all over the country, meaning it was usually just the two of you. The two of you were very close, and supported each-other through everything, just like how you and your best friend, Tommy.
"So tell me again why you didn't want to go to the beach tonight? All of your Cobra Kai's are there." Y/S/N plopped herself next to you on the couch.
"Can't I enjoy a peaceful night in with my sister?" You smirked and she rolled her eyes.
"Okay fine, Ali's there." You groaned.
"So what? She's your best friend Y/N?"
"No she was my best friend, she's been talking shit about the Cobra's - even Tommy. I get that her and Johnny aren't together anymore, but I've gotta look out for my boys." You admitted, throwing popcorn into your mouth.
"Your boys? You mean Johnny is your boy? The guy has had the hots for you since you were ten." She stated and now it was your turn to roll your eyes.
"Then why did he date Ali?" You questioned.
"Oh baby sister, you have so much to learn. It's obvious that he wasn't going to ask you out before her. You'd just come out of a sticky relationship." You shivered at the thought of your past.
"I get you were young and in love with that jackass, but just because you were young, doesn't mean he had the right to hit you left, right and centre." Maybe she was right, you hadn't really let your guard down with anybody after that.
"Let's not bring that up please." You told her.
"The only thing stopping you two from growing old together, is the fact that Tommy is practically like your big brother. He'd flip a table." Your sister grinned. Speaking of Cobra's, you heard some motorcycles pull up outside your house.
"Snakes in three, two, one." Your sister counted down and then your door knocked.
"Your hair looks a mess." You admitted to Tommy, ruffling up his hair as he walked into your home.
"Honesty is the best policy Y/L/N." Bobby laughed.
"What the hell happened to you?" You questioned Johnny, noticing how flustered and sad he looked.
"Lover boy had his first dosage of heartbreak tonight at the beach." Bobby called out to you from the kitchen.
"Yeah nice one man, thanks!" Johnny said sarcastically, making his way through your house. You shot your sister a confused look, and she just shrugged her shoulders.
"Tommy, your ass better not be eating my leftover pizza!" Your sister shouted and that's exactly what he was doing.
"I appreciate that I'm not having to fix any of your faces tonight guys, but what exactly do you want?" You asked them, grabbing some lemonade from the fridge.
"Well sweet-heart, there's a new kid on the block, Daniel Larusso. He was flirting with Ali." Tommy stole your drink from your hand.
"And how do you feel about that?" You asked Johnny.
"She wouldn't talk to me, so I broke her radio and gave him a seek in assist the old fashioned way." Johnny admitted.
"I take it he's not as good at Karate as you then Johnny?" You joked, trying to make light of the conversation.
"The sexual tension in this room is making me gag." Your sister shoved passed you and grabbed a drink from the refrigerator.
"You're delusional." You muttered.
"I'm sure you'll be lucky with Larusso if you haven't already made a pass at Johnny." Bobby joked, but none of you laughed.
"Like hell man, watch your damn mouth." Johnny snapped.
"Dude seriously?" Tommy glared at him.
"I was joking, come on guys." Bobby tried to defend himself and you all ignored him.
"Quit being mean so Bobby, he just wanted to be apart of the comedian club." You snickered, making everybody burst into laughter.
"I take it you guys are staying the night?" Your sister asked them all.
"It's an annual thing, so if you don't mind?" Tommy smiled.
"Dude, the three of you have sleepovers everyday of the week. It's a fucking daily thing at this rate." Your sister laughed, heading up the stairs to sort the sleeping arrangements out.
Once the beds were ready to go, everyone seemed fairly tired and headed upstairs.
"Y/N wait-" Johnny stopped you from outside your room. Unbeknownst to him that his two friends, and your sister were eavesdropping.
"Can I please talk to you? I kinda need a girl's help, and well you get Tommy through a lot of shit.." He began to rant and you stopped him.
"Calm down Johnny, let's talk." You ushered him into your room, and he laid on your bed, leaning against the bed frame.
"I didn't really know how to say it front of everyone, but you know what a breakup is like. How'd you get over it?" Johnny sighed and you frowned.
"I don't think I ever really got over it because of what he did to me. I'd like to have said I turned into some badass overnight but I didn't. It takes time, and the two of you only broke up a couple of weeks ago. The whole situation is still raw and you have to allow yourself time to heal." You admitted to him.
He couldn't help but stare at you, take in all of your perfections as you we're giving him advice.
"Young love is a load of ass Y/N. She didn't even care about what I had to say tonight." Johnny frowned and it really did look like he was about to cry.
"Jokes on her Johnny, because any girl should be blessed to have you." You smiled, making his stomach erupt into a million butterflies.
"I really appreciate that." He whispered, slowly leaning in, but you leaned back.
"I'm so sorry if you thought that's where I was going with this Johnny, I don't think either of us are ready for that just yet." You coughed out, not really sure how to deal with it.
"No I'm sorry Y/N, I shouldn't have done that. Shit." Johnny was quick to scramble out of your room, and it took you a few moments to comprehend the situation.
Chasing after him and staying in your room  were your thoughts for the night. You knew he'd probably be embarrassed, so you didn't wanna push that any further. But he wanted to kiss you. Was that because he wanted to use you as a rebound? To get over his eventful evening with his ex? You had no idea. Or was it because he had now genuinely come to terms of how he really felt towards you?
“Wake your ass up!” Tommy screamed as the morning sunshine came through your curtains.
“Tommy I’m giving you five seconds to get the heck out of my room, or I’m going to smack you silly.” You yawned, suddenly realising it was your first day back for senior year.
“You weren’t saying that to Johnny when he tried to kiss you last night.” Tommy whispered, and your eyes nearly fell out of your head.
“Your secrets safe with me sleepy head, but he wouldn’t have done it if he didn’t mean it.” Tommy gave you a half-hearted smile and left you alone.
“One year to make it all work Y/N.” You muttered, throwing on some clothes to start your senior year.
“The queen has finally made her entrance.” Tommy laughed, handing you a plate of pancakes.
“You look beautiful Y/N.” Bobby smiled, making Johnny clench his jaw.
“Wow it finally looks like a cat hasn’t dragged you through a bush.” Y/S/N ruffled up your hair.
“Well now if does.” You groaned, flattening your hair back out. Time was ticking and it was soon time for school.
“Have a good day you guys!” Your sister waved you all off. It was as if the Cobra’s had it planned all along, because Tommy and Bobby were quick to drive away on their motor-cycles, leaving you and Johnny.
“Can I pitch a ride please?” You asked Johnny with hopeful eyes.
“Of course.” He smiled lightly.
“Can we please talk about last night?” You asked and his smile soon faded.
“We’ve gotta get to school.” You nodded at him, before sitting behind him. The journey to school wasn’t long at all, and it was typical for you to spend your morning alongside the Cobra Kai’s motorcycles.
“I don’t want things to be awkward Johnny, you’re one of my best friends. I’ve got a lot of issues, despite how happy I come across. Maybe one day we can make a thing of us?” You suggested and he had nothing to say.
And so that’s how was it was like, for a very long few weeks after that. Johnny hadn’t said a lot to you, and it slowly made you realise, that you didn’t know what you had, until it started to go away.
“Johnny still not talking to you?” Tommy asked, as the two of you walked together in front of the Cobra Kai’s. You turned around, but Johnny avoided eye contact before turning around the corner to his class.
“He’s insanely in love with you Y/N, I guess he’s just scared.” In love? Come again?
“In love with me, why would you say that?” You asked.
“Trust me, I know.” The two of you continued walking towards your classroom, when you were stopped by a certain Daniel Larusso.
As Johnny was walking to class, he couldn’t help let the overwhelming sense of guilt override him.
“What’s going on with you and Y/N dude?” Bobby asked one of his best friends.
“I don’t know myself man.” Johnny responded.
“You two are so damn love blind.” Bobby groaned in annoyance that his two friends still hadn’t made moves on each-other.
“I can’t push the boundaries again, it’s obvious she’s afraid to be with someone new, and I don’t want to upset her.” Johnny admitted.
“That’s the thing though Johnny, you’re not someone new. Everyone knows about what happened with her ex, and you can be the one to make her trust again.” Bobby’s words were so convincing.
“I’ve gotta go and get my girl.” Johnny shoved his books into Bobby’s hands and rushed back to the other hallway you were in with Tommy. But Bobby didn’t stop there, of course he was going to watch the scene unfold.
“What the hell do you want Larusso?” Tommy stood protectively in front of you.
“You need to sort your boyfriend out Y/N, his attitude is kind of stinky.” Daniel teased.
“He’s not my boyfriend.” You muttered.
“I think he’s about to be.” Tommy noticed Johnny heading over to the two of you.
“Get the hell away from my girl, punk.” Johnny shoved Daniel out of the way, and you bit the inside of your cheek anxiously - not wanting your first day back to end up in a fight.
“Why does everyone think I’m you girlfriend?” You asked Johnny.
“Because I’ve waited so damn long to be able to call you mine Y/N, and I don’t want him taking you away from me, like he did with everything else.” Johnny admitted his feelings, regardless of everybody around him.
“Johnny what are you talking about?” You asked him.
“I’m not him Y/N. I will never be him. I think, I think I love you.” Johnny stepped forward and this time, you allowed him to kiss you. You felt yourself melting on the inside. Cheers and claps echoed through the school hallway as the bell rang.
“What do you say Y/N, will you please be my girlfriend?” He asked, lacing his hands with yours.
“Of course.” You blushed, wrapping your arms around him, and he felt the instant sigh of relief.
“You’re cute when you’re jealous.” You whispered.
“I was so not jealous, I was about to beat Larusso’s ass.” Johnny told you seriously.
“I think you’re forgetting about what Tommy might do to you.” You chuckled, looking over at your best friend and his attempt to look angry.
“It’s not half of the things that I’m going to do to you.” Johnny smirked. You could finally be free of your past, you finally had your man, and boy was he worth the wait.

Family Dinner - Robby Keene
Request - Hi, it's me again. You could write something in which the reader and Robby are in a secret relationship and Daniel notices that boy's passionate gaze and is curious to know who the mysterious young woman is who was leaving him like this, then asks him to invite her to a family dinner . It turns out that Daniel didn't even imagine that this girl was the golden student of Cobra Kai, almost as relentless as Tory and Samantha's number one rival. Throughout dinner, the reader does her best not to provoke a scene, even with Sam's indiscreet insinuations about her being a bad person and to make matters worse, a conversation about sexual orientation arises in a very prejudiced way from Louie and she is extremely offended after a prejudiced comment about bisexuality (she is bisexual, Robby knows and accepts this), Daniel ends up being faster and goes after her, the two talk very cute (almost father and daughter) and the two end up giving each other very well . Anyway, after all that mixture of emotions that was the night, Robby takes the reader home which leads to a lot of affection and kisses on her part (deep down, under that badass exterior she is just a big monster of affection ❤). Sorry if it took too long hahaha.
Pronouns used - She/Her
A/N -  Disclaimer: I do not agree with anything that Louie says in this, it is purely for the storyline. I also kinda made Sam look like a bad guy...sorry Sam.
Warnings - Louie being a biphobic asshole, language
Word Count - 1593
Tumblr media
You and Robby had a somewhat 'secret relationship'. You had both decided not to tell anyone, considering the rivalry between your respective dojos. Anyway, you were enjoying spending time with Robby alone.
Daniel had begun to get suspicious though. He had noticed that Robby had been acting different than usual, smiling at his phone, and getting home later. Daniel had made the fair assumption that Robby was in fact, seeing someone.
He had not-so subtilty brought up the question in conversation, taking Robby aback. Robby had admitted it though, and Mr Larusso had asked to meet this ‘Mystery Girl’, and asked Robby to invite you to family dinner.
So, here you were standing outside the Larusso’s house, having just texted Robby that you were here. You didn’t want Sam answering the door.
Robby opened the door, “Hey babe, why didn’t you knock?”
“I didn’t want Sam or someone opening it to see me,” you shrugged, “I’m just nervous I guess, what with mine and Sam’s rivalry, with Cobra Kai. Everything,”
Robby wrapped his arms around you, “It’s gonna be ok, alright. If it ends up being too awkward or whatever, we can leave,” he reassured.
“Thank you,”
He kissed your cheek, “Anytime. Ready to go in?” you nodded. Robby placed his hand in yours, and you walked in.
The Larusso’s house was beautiful, it had off-white walls, a mixture of hardwood and patterned flooring, and large windows. It was probably one of the nicest houses you’d ever been in.
“Hey Robby,” Amanda Larusso approached you, “This must be your girlfriend. I’m Amanda,”
“Y/N,” you said.
“it’s so great to meet you, Robby’s told us so much about you!” She said - even if this wasn’t true.
“No he hasn’t,” you said, with a weak chuckle.
“Okay, well... that’s true, but I hope to get to know you more today. Okay, we are eating outside today as it is a lovely night. Everyone else is already out there, make yourselves at home, and dinner will be ready in a few minutes,” she said, smiling.
You both thanked her, before heading outside to where everyone was talking. “Hey everyone,” Robby made your presence known.
“Hey Robby!” Daniel greeted, before laying his eyes on you, when his smile faded. It was no secret that you were the Golden Student of Cobra Kai, you had even been known to take Miguel and Tory in fights, and of course...Sam.
“What is she doing here?” Sam exclaimed, gesturing towards you.
Your grip on Robby’s hand tightened. You had expected this, so you decided to stand your ground, “I was invited,” you asserted.
“Who would invite you here?” Sam asked with narrowed eyes.
“Sam,” Robby said, in an attempt to calm her down.
It was at this point that her eye’s travelled down to where yours and Robby’s hands were enlaced. “Don’t tell me you’re actually dating this bitch,”
“Sam!” Daniel scolded, and just before an argument could come out, Mrs Larusso arrived, holding trays of food.
“Am I interrupting something?” She asked, her eyebrows raised.
“No, mom. We’re fine,” Sam said, partially through gritted teeth.
**********
There had been evident silence since dinner had started, it was starting to get annoying, how Sam was giving you death glares from across the table. Anthony was doing the same, although he was just probably copying what Sam was doing.
Amanda then decided to break the silence, asking you a question “So, Y/N how did you and Robby meet?”
“We met at the skate park. Robby was tried to do a new trick, but it went wrong and his board ended up flying in my direction, he apologised, we started talking, and...here we are,” you replied, giving her a smile.
“Oh that’s sweet, and from what little Robby has said, you do karate?” she questioned.
“Yeah, I do,” you said, purposefully not saying your dojo’s name - even if Sam and Mr Larusso knew, you wanted to keep the dojo rivalry to a minimum.
“She’s top of her class as well,” Robby added, “She can easily beat me in a fight,”
“Only because you fight dirty,” Sam uttered underneath her breath.
You ignored her, “I wouldn’t say easily,” you protested, “But, yeah I can totally kick your ass,” you said, letting out a small laugh. Sam rolled her eyes
“Wow, that’s really impressive. What dojo do you go to,” Mrs Larusso asked.
“Oh, um, Cobra Kai,” you said, somewhat trailing off towards the end.
“Oh. Okay, is this why this dinner is being so awkward?” she said, and no-one answered, “Obviously it is,” she mumbled.
“Aren’t they the dojo that dislocated Robby’s shoulder?” Louie asked.
“Technically that was just Hawk,” Robby defended.
“Still doesn’t excuse their shitty teaching methods,” Sam said quietly.
Your hand balled into a fist. Her snarky comments were starting to fuel your anger. Robby placed his hand over yours, gently rubbing his thumb over your knuckles - an action that he knew calmed you, and gave you a reassuring smile.
“Y/N, are you new to town? I can’t recall seeing you anywhere,” Amanda questioned, seemingly ignoring her daughters comments.
“Yeah, I only moved here 6 months ago. My mom got a new job,” you explained.
“Oh, what does you mom do?"
“She’s a real estate agent,” you replied.
“Oh, that’s cool,”
**********
Conversation slowly picked up from there, although that didn’t stop Sam from making remarks. It was like she was trying to get people to think you were a bad person, saying stuff like ‘Dad, I’m glad that you taught me and Robby the right way of karate’.
It was honestly taking a toll on you, you had to work hard to make a good impression, and not act out and make a scene.
“Mom, did I tell you that Moon has a girlfriend now?” Sam asked her mother.
“Oh, that’s lovely,”
“Yeah, it’s this Piper. She’s nice,” she explained.
“Moon is the girl that was dating that Hawk guy?” Louie butted in.
“Yeah,”
“Was she just gay all along then?”
“No, she’s just bisexual,” Sam said, furrowing her eyebrows at Louie’s question.
“Sam, come on. Bisexuality isn’t real,” you fists balled as Louie continued, “People are either gay or straight, you can’t like both, that’s just... unnatural,”
“Fuck this!” You yelled. You rose from your seat, and stormed out of the back yard.
“Louie, what the fuck?” Sam, and Amanda said in unison. Robby sat there glaring at Louie for a few seconds, before standing up to go after you. Daniel put a hand on his shoulder, and muttered an “I’ll go,” and went after you. Meanwhile, Amanda was kicking Louie out of the house, using language she would never use in front of her kids in any other sort of situation.
Daniel ran after you. “Y/N! Wait,”
“What do you want?” you said, wiping tears that had escaped.
“Look, I’m sorry for what Louie said. If it’s any consolation, Amanda is shouting at him, and kicking him out,” he stated.
“You can’t control what he said. It’s not your fault,”
“I know, but I’m still sorry, and I’m also sorry for what Sam has been saying. I know you two have your rivalry...thing, but it shouldn’t have come up,”
“Yeah, thanks,” you nodded.
“You did well for handling it as well as you did, had that of been me, I would’ve thrown hands,” he said, impressed.
“Oh, trust me I wanted to. It just doesn’t give off a good impression if you beat the shit out of the people your boyfriend’s living with,” you chuckled.
“Yeah, well I guess not,” he smiled.
“Why are you being so nice to me?” you asked, genuinely confused.
“What do you mean?”
“Well like, I’m a part of Cobra Kai. I’ve been in fights with your daughter, I’m not what people call the best ‘influence’ on people. Need I say more?” you said
“I see your point, but Robby trusts you. I’ve seen him improve since you two have been together, he seems happier, and if he trusts you, then I do too,” he explained.
“Thank you Mr Larusso,” you said, smiling at him.
“No problem kid,” he smiled back, “Now, if you want to stay for dessert, we have ice cream,” he offered.
“I think I’d just rather go home, if that’s okay,” you said.
“That’s totally fine, alright? I’ll go get Robby to take you home?”
“Yes please,” you said, “Thank you,”
“Your welcome. I’ll see you soon,”
“Bye”
Robby came out a minute after Daniel had left, and immediately hugged you, “Are you okay?” he mumbled.
“I will be. I just want to go home,” you replied.
“Okay, lets go, yeah?” he asked. You replied by nodding your head, yes.
**********
You and Robby had arrived at your house, and he walked you up to the front door. “Can you stay with me?” you asked.
“Yeah of course,”
You both made your way up the stairs and into your room. You grabbed some comfy clothes, and changed in the bathroom, before coming back to Robby.
“Are you feeling any better?” he asked.
“A little. Can we cuddle?”
He just laid down in your bed, and opened his arms for you to lay in. You positioned yourself in his arms so your head was on his chest, listening to the steady sound of his heart beating.
Robby kissed the top of your head. You shifted your head to look up at him. He kissed your lips.
You knew that this boy would be the death of you.

The most important moment left out of Phantom Planet: Danny and Valerie's conversation after she found out his secret.
~1500 words · rated T · genre: friendship/romance
also on fanfiction.net and a03
---
He knew that this day would come.
The day when he would even the score, and tell Valerie about his secret identity. He'd known hers for so long, but he wanted it to be different than this. More intimate, more personal; not in front of all these people. There were strangers and family members in that crowd, but his relationship with her had been unique from all of the rest. She had hunted him one second, dated him the next.
He hated that she had to find out at that moment, clapping along with everyone else. Pretending like they had no history. In front of their parents, and in front of Sam, who he knew now would be the one for him. But that didn't diminish what Valerie meant to him, as a friend or as an 'ex,’ if he could even call it that. They never made it to the boyfriend-girlfriend stage, but those feelings were real and meaningful. He didn't want her to feel discarded.
It had been three months since the reveal, and so many things had changed. His family had accepted him for who he was, and the world had celebrated his efforts that previously were suffered in silence. Things were improving, but there was one loose end left to tie up.
They'd agreed to meet at the Nasty Burger. A cafe or anything else but this grease hole would be better, but Amity Park didn't have much to offer in that realm. They'd agreed to meet at five, but he arrived a quarter til, not wanting to show up late to this one. Tardiness was a consistent problem for a ghost fighter.
Valerie walked through the door two minutes past. He felt a wave of mixed emotions as she found him and walked his way. He'd ordered for them already. He remembered what she liked.
"Hey, Valerie. It’s been a minute."
"Hi, Danny." Her smile and that inherent warmth in her voice comforted him as she sat down across from him.
"I-I ordered our food already. I was thinking we could walk and talk so we don't have to stay in this place."
She chuckled softly. "Less time in the Nasty Burger is fine by me."
An awkwardness hung in the air, and he wondered who would speak first. But as tends to happen in these situations, they stumbled over each others' words, anxious of how this would go.
"Val, I owe you an explanation-"
"Danny, I'm so sorry, I can't believe-"
"You can go first, but apologizing is the last thing you need to do right now."
Just as they were about to get into it, the pimply kid working the counter called out their order. They picked it up without saying a word to each other and stepped outside. It'd be nice to walk, talk and munch, give their nervous limbs something to do.
"Danny, I had no idea it was you I was hunting all that time. I would never try to hurt you. You were there for me when my dad lost his job, when nobody else cared about what I was going through. I didn't forget that."
"How were you supposed to know? I'm the reason your dad lost his job, Valerie. You had every right to be mad at me."
Valerie was quiet for a minute as they walked. She held out her fries to offer him some, and looked him in the eyes.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
He took her up on the offer, but his eyes went to the ground. "I don't know. I wanted to, especially after what we went through with Danielle. But I couldn't find the right time, and then the world was literally ending. I didn't want to reveal my secret to everybody like that. It just... Happened."
"You must have been overwhelmed that day."
"I wanted to tell you like this, just us. I felt like you deserved that much from me."
She was quiet again, but he didn't feel uncomfortable. He just felt a little sad.
"I'm not upset with you, Danny. I get it, because I know what it's like to hide a part of your life from everyone. Which reminds me... This whole time, you knew it was me hunting you."
"Yeah, I've known for a long time. It never seemed weird to you that I was always trying not to hurt you when we battled?"
"I was blinded with rage, I guess. Blinded by Vlad's manipulation, too."
He wasn't sure what to say just then.
They came to a park bench and sat down there. The sun was slowly sinking, and it made the citrine colors of her coat even more vibrant.
"Even when I was aiming cannons at you, you still tried to protect me. You've been protecting us all for years."
He shrugged. "Wouldn't you do the same in my situation?"
"I don't know what I'd do. I was given the red huntress suit, and I didn't really use it for good." Valerie stared down at her milkshake, fiddling with the straw. "You're a good person, Danny."
What was happening? Valerie wasn't mad at him at all. She was regretful. He hadn't expected today to turn out this way. He wanted to stop her.
"And you know the worst part to me, Danny? I broke up with you because of ghost hunting. I broke up with you to keep you safe, as I was actively trying to hurt you. It's so messed up."
His heart felt a sorrowful, burning sensation. "You had no idea what was going on, Val."
"I know you're with Sam now, and I'm happy for you two. I've been watching her pine for you for years, and I had a feeling you loved her, too. But I can't stop myself from wondering how things would be if I hadn't broken things off that day, or if I had known your secret.
I'm sorry. I don't know why I'm saying this."
This was getting harder and harder to stomach without getting emotional. He tried to steady his voice.
"I'll always care about you, Val. I had so much fun with you in that short window of time, and even after all that happened, you're one of the people I trust the most in this world.
My feelings for you were genuine, but that day left a mark on me. It hurt for a while, and then I got over it. And now I'm with Sam, and she's been my best friend forever, and I'm going to honor my commitment to her.
I think we both know deep down we're not the right match romantically, but I don't want to lose you, you know?"
Both of them were teary eyed now, still sharing their food in between sentences. It was a hard thing to process. They'd been through so much and understood each others’ double identities in a way no one else really did. He paused for a beat, then put his food down and took her hand and clasped it between his, the way a family member or a best friend does when they want to tell you something important, want to make sure you listen.
"Valerie, can we please be friends?"
A tear fell down her cheek as she smiled at him, the kind of smile that holds joy and pain all at once. "Of course we can."
Relief ran through his body. He released her hand and gave her a hug, the big squeeze kind. Some of their fries tumbled to the ground but he didn't care.
"Good, because I don't know who else I'd parent a flour sack baby with. And I could use some help hunting down Skulker, he's been a pain in my butt lately."
She laughed and chucked a fry at his face. "You know I'm down."
They maintained the promise of friendship that they made that day. There's a special kind of bond that forms when you befriend someone you used to hold affection for. A wholesome, inherent understanding of each others' best and worst qualities, and acceptance of it all with no judgement.
Danny was busy, and Valerie was too. They'd have lunch on occasion, and miss some of the plans they tried to make. But without fail, when either of them was in a bind in battle, the other would have their back.

#HarringroveApril Day 7: Daisychain
***
“Mr. Harrington? Who’s your favorite student?”
The question came about at least once every year without fail, and he’d always answer in the same, textbook way.
“I don’t have favorites. I love all my kids equally.”
And, deservedly so, the whole class would grunt and moan because they knew just as well as he did that it was a load of bullshit. Steve loved every one of his kids, that part wasn’t a lie, but… he also definitely had his favorites.
For the graduating class of ‘90 when he was only a teaching assistant his name was Daniel. He was the youngest in his class because he started early, and he was incredibly bright. He could count higher, he could read quicker, and his mind just worked in ways that no adult could possibly understand. But it wasn’t the textbook intelligence that made Steve fall for this kid. It was his emotional intelligence. He was funny and he was kind and five year olds were cruel, but he never let that get to him. He had an outlook on life that Steve was jealous of, so when the other kids would turn him down for a game of checkers, Steve would happily join him, because Steve saw it as his job to keep that kid kind.
For the class of ‘91 it was Christopher. He was nothing like Daniel. He was held back and was repeating kindergarten, and that was evident in the way he walked through life. He was quiet and would voluntarily remove himself from the rest of the class. He’d sit by himself and read a book and get frustrated when he didn’t understand one of the words, he would swing by himself and he always tried to sneak off with the first graders when it was time to line up. And Steve perfectly resonated with that feeling of watching all of your friends move on without you. He was left in the dust too. When all his classmates moved on to college or hightailed it out of Hawkins, Steve was left there by himself, working at Family Video with his only friend in the grade below him, and it took her leaving him as well for Steve to finally get his shit together, haul his ass west of the Mississippi, and enroll in a community college and work towards his teaching degree.
And he did it, against all odds and obstacles in his way, he did it. It took extra work and the support of his best friend who he followed, and he did it. He saw himself in Christopher, and he wasn’t going to make that kid wait as long as he did to realize that setbacks don’t define his future.
Steve usually took a liking to the quiet kids, and that only changed in ‘93 with the girl named Amy and the familiar last name. She was loud, vibrant, and everyone loved her. Her smile was contagious and she could be the sweetest little girl at times, but she also wore her heart on her sleeve. She cried quite a bit, just the littlest thing could set her off. A boy accidentally knocking over her blocks, not knowing how to spell a certain word, accidentally coloring outside the lines. She didn’t throw tantrums like he saw in the other kids. She would just bow her head and cry and it would break Steve’s heart every time.
But other than those few moments, she was bright and charismatic and with the last name, the blonde curly hair, and the big personality, Steve really should have put it all together much sooner than he did.
He didn’t put it all together until he saw Billy Hargrove in the soup aisle at the local grocery store wearing a chain of little daisies on his head like a crown, and he knew exactly where it was from.
It was from the little girl named Amy Hargrove who frolicked in the field instead of playing on the playground, collecting flowers that she meticulously made into bracelets and crowns and anything else she put her mind to. She gave them to friends, she even gave one to Steve, and of course she would give one to her dad too.
He looked so different, and yet exactly the same. He still had the damn mullet, just dragging the eighties with him as far as he could, he was a little more cleaned up but still had a similar style to what it was in highschool. Still with the same denim jacket, denim jeans, Canadian tuxedo type deal. In a side by side picture situation you wouldn’t really be able to tell the difference. It wasn’t his dress or his hair or anything physical about him that made him look so different, it was the way that he carried himself. It was the relaxation and the eyes that didn’t droop and the smile lines that didn’t used to be there that made him almost entirely unrecognizable from the Billy Hargrove who pushed freshman against lockers and drove his car too loud and too fast and had cigarettes for three meals a day. Not the kid who ran off to California as soon as the hospital released him with only his Camaro and a small suitcase and a large sum of money the government used to keep his mouth shut, leaving just a note for Max on the fridge that didn’t get any more specific than that about where he was going, not even leaving a phone number for her to contact him with. He also didn’t look like the kid they all pictured in their heads after basically the whole town found out about exactly what Neil Hargrove did to his son behind closed doors.
Steve wanted to go up to him in the store, but he stopped himself. Because Billy left. Without a trace or a word, and who was Steve to think that Billy having to be reminded of something he voluntarily abandoned without a second thought would have any sort of positive outcome?
So he turned down the aisle and kept his distance from the man in the flower crown because he was scared. He wasn’t scared that Billy would see him and turn back to his old ways and hurt him again, he was scared that he’d turn back to his old ways and hurt himself again.
Because he’d been hurt enough already.
Steve successfully avoided Billy until parent teacher conferences had rolled around, and instead of seeing Amy’s mom on the list of names he’d be seeing that day, it was Billy’s.
Steve would be lying if he didn’t think about calling in sick and sending his TA in his place. But he still had to be her teacher for another six months, he just had to get the interaction over with.
Many of the parents that came before Billy had to have known he was on edge about something considering he excessively tapped the table with the eraser of his pencil and stuttered his way through conversations. His organized folders and notes of talking points had been entirely thrown out the window and he was an absolute nervous wreck. And he could only anticipate it being ten times worse when the cause of said anxiety walked through his door with the long hair and the leather jacket. It was only with the help of the little girl in the sunflower dress and daisies in her hair skipping from the entrance to the chair in front of him that calmed his nerves just a bit.
But Billy had just stayed at the door, no movement, and any hope that Steve had that perhaps his new haircut and the glasses on his face would be enough to keep Billy from noticing the obvious vanished when Billy snapped his fingers like the lightbulb in his head finally flickered on.
“I knew it couldn’t be a coincidence.”
Steve just held out his hand to shake like he did with any other parent, unsure how to gage the situation because Billy’s words could go either way and his facial expressions didn’t give him anything to go off of. It would be weird to introduce himself, he didn’t know what to say.
“Hi, I’m Amy’s teacher. Should we start?”
Billy looked a little confused, but he sat down in the little kindergartener chairs anyway. This meeting was almost more organized than the ones prior, likely because he was trying to go as quickly as possible and get it over with. Steve showed Billy some of her artwork and commented on how her reading comprehension was great but she could work on her spelling a little more. He didn’t want to bring it up, but he brought up the crying and it hurt to see how him bringing it up set her off again. The same bowing of the head and quiet sniffles into her sleeve.
But Steve thinks he just fell in love a little watching Billy comfort her. With one hand rubbing circles into her back and the other holding her small hand. Steve feels like shit watching her cry because of him and is also semi-fearful for his life because he already knows he can’t take Billy in a fight.
“Baby, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with crying. It’s okay.”
“You’re dad’s right Amy. I think it’s very healthy. Crying is good for you.”
She looks up at Steve with those big blue eyes and tear stained cheeks when he says that.
“Really?” she asks.
“Yeah! I’d say it even makes you more mature. Even some adults I know don’t let themselves cry and it’s not good.”
“My daddy cries a lot too.”
Steve looks at Billy who’s eyes widen when she says it, then tries to laugh it off like she didn’t just say that.
“Hey Amy, you wanna go and play while your daddy and I talk for a minute?”
She just nods her head and wipes away her remaining tears and quickly hauls the bucket of Lincoln Logs off the shelf.
“So. It’s been a while. Hasn’t it?” Steve starts.
“Yeah it has. So, you’re a teacher now.”
“And you’re a father. That’s crazy.” Steve was fiddling with his hands, trying to make the conversation less awkward. “She’s wonderful by the way.”
“Yeah. She doesn’t get it from me.”
Steve just shakes his head. “No. I don’t think that’s true. She has your charisma, and it appears you found a better way of channeling your emotions since last we saw each other. She’s a lot like you.”
“Thanks.” Billy blushed. He actually blushed. “I don’t know if this is allowed considering you’re her teacher, but would you want to catch up sometime? Maybe dinner or something?”
There it was. That was the olive branch. And Steve would be an absolute fool not to take it.
“I’d love to.”
Before they could come up with a time or a place, Amy was running over to the table with loudly stomping feet.
“I almost forgot! Daddy! show Mr. Harrington what I brought him!”
Billy reached into his pocket upon her demand and pulled out a little bracelet made out of little daisies and honeysuckle and handed it over to Steve.
“Thank you Amy! It’s lovely.”
“Daddy show him yours!”
Steve looked to Billy’s wrist where he slowly lifted his sleeve to reveal an almost exact replica to the bracelet in his hand.
“Looks like we’re matching.”

different type of game, part one. eli moskowitz x reader
summary 📣: in which eli moskowitz is a popular hockey player, but to reader he was just a boy tory nichols had history with. but eli’s trying to erase that history, and what better way then trying to get with her best friend?
warnings 🚫: mentions of sex, swearing, vulgar language, drinking, tory and reader have a “funny” relationship, no mohawk eli‼️
slater’s note 🗯: i saw a video of hockey jacob, so this kind of inspired this fic. also is it wrong that i lowkey ship tory and hawk?
Tumblr media
part one, part two
“hockey boys are fun, always a good fuck.”
“jesus, tory.”
“what?” she out called innocently, leaning back from the boarder separating the two of you from the ice, “it’s true.”
“oh yeah?” you quirked a brow to tory, leaning away from the boarder as well and making your way to the entrance onto the ice.
you really wondered if tory thought about the words that came out of her mouth before they actually came out of her mouth.
the two of you had been watching the high school hockey team practice with the rest of your figure skating team when her words just popped into the air.
“yes.”
“who have you fucked?”
it’s silent, meaning either tory hadn’t followed you onto the ice and didn’t hear you or she was stumped.
she never got stumped, only with you really, and it was because you knew how to contradict her without fear, unlike others who would rather keep their mouths shut then receive a blade to the face from the stupid spike bracelet she kept around her wrist at all times.
you slightly glanced back, trying to see if she was following you, “tory? who’d you fuck?”
the skating rink smelt of sweat and blood, making scrunch up your nose slightly as you got farther to the center. it hadn’t ever mattered how early you got to the rink, it always smelled like that, even before the hockey practices.
“no one.”
“shut up,” you rolled your eyes, turning the heal off your skate to face her. you knew she was lying then.
“what?”
“tory,” you dumbfounded, “who’d you have sex with?”
it was like she was cowering away from you, as if you were about to hit her or something and you didn’t get it.
“c’mon.”
“fine,” she nipped at her lip, eyes sliding along the ice, “miguel diaz.”
and you almost gasped, eyes widening, “tory,” but you kept it in, your hand reaching for her, almost asking her if she was serious, “no way, the kids a dork.”
“shut up, no he’s not.”
“yes he is!” you almost laughed, “he’s friends with those other dweebs, y’know? the lip kid and uh-“
“demetri?”
“yes!”
“y/n, you’re stupid,” it was her turn dead stare you in the eyes with a disappointed glare in her irises, “that was freshman year, two years ago, a lot happens in two years- god haven’t you ever seen eli shotgun? he does it at almost every party.”
“eli?”
“lip kid.”
“oh.. huh?”
tory rolled her eyes as if she was done with your shit, “he has the rough red hair, almost looks pink... uh, hot, number 20 on the hockey-“
you gasped, it all suddenly clicking in your head, “that’s him?”
“yes, that’s him.”
tory looked at you as if you were stupid, her face blank but harsh, it almost made you laugh, but you held it in, allowing a small snide smile slide across your lips, “how was he?”
“miguel?”
“no, eli,” you rolled your eyes, “yes, tory, the one you had sex with.”
“oh...” her teeth sunk into her bottom lip once again. her cool and rude exterior seemed to have disappeared real quick in replace of nervousness, “what if i told you i fucked the both of them?”
°•
it was a late friday night, ten minutes after practice when you felt rushed by tory’s phone call.
“y/n, where are you?”
“tory, where are you?” you were struggling with the phone pressed up to your ear as you tried your best to pull off skates and balance yourself up.
it was nine thirty at night, practice had just gotten over and there was no sign of tory at all throughout the night.
it always seemed as though tory was a slacker, didn’t show up for school, but always showed up to figure skating practice. she always said it was her ticket to a better life, especially with finals coming up. so it was weird for her to ditch out.
“y/n, it’s larusso’s party tonight, it started half an hour ago,” you could hear an annoyance in her tone, “you said you would meet me here.”
you closed your eyes tightly, it suddenly all coming back to you. you had promised her to be her safety buddy for the night just in case any weirdos came around harassing up on her.
“fuck, tory, i forgot,” you lightly slapped your forehead as if scolding yourself, sitting down in one of the arena seats, “i’ll be there soon, practice just ended.”
“you better be,” her voice erupted through your phone speaker, “i’ve been talking to stingray for the half hour, i’m gonna shoot myself before i have another drink.”
you rolled your eyes at the exaggeration that came from her mouth, “shut up.”
and you hung up the phone.
°•
you squinted up at the large larusso home. everyone knew daniel larusso as the ex-hockey-player-valley-championship-winner-now-super-rich-car-salesman. the people of LA worshiped the man.
trekking up the front lawn you could already smell the booze that was practically leaking past the front door.
“finally, you made it,” tory’s arm slung over your shoulder the moment you walked in, her hand shoving a red solo cup in your own, “drink up, long night ahead.”
you narrowed your brows, looking to her a bit confused at her tense posture. she should have been loosened up more, especially with how much alcohol she probably drunk.
“you alright?” you quirked a brow while taking a drink of the sour tasting liquid that you found hard forcing down your throat.
you winced, slightly tilting your head before throwing back some more into your mouth.
“nothing, just kinda... bored.”
“shut up, no you’re not.”
“can we go sit down?”
she was moving before you could say ‘yes’ and moving pretty fast as she swerved herself around the clumps of people littering the living room.
she sat down on a couch in the corner, her hands sitting gently on her lap making your brows close in on each other even more. it didn’t make sense as to why she was being so... awkward.
it was like her heart was racing and her eyes were moving fast, looking from one place to another, like she was paranoid, looking for someone.
“tory, are you on drugs?” you asked, placing your hand close to her as you took a seat next to her on the nice leather couch.
you could barely see her face by the way the only thing illuminating her features were the cheap tacky disco lights set in all the corners of the room.
“no, y/n,” she shook her head, eyes squinting slightly, “fuck you, no, i just need something to drink.”
“water?”
“sure.”
“okay,” you nodded slightly, leaning away from her and standing up, “i’ll get you some.”
she stayed silent, not even watching you walk away but her attention being drawn toward the group of kids beginning to dance in the center of the room.
it was unsettling seeing her so on edge, so strange, it made you uncomfortable due to tory being the usual life of a party. it was so unlike her.
you grabbed one of the solo cups stacked on the counter, biting on your lip as you thought more and more about why tory would be in the mood that she was in.
you couldn’t think of anything as you leaned up on the counter, your hand reaching for the ice as you shoveled it into the red plastic cup.
maybe she was mad you were late or maybe something had happened to her while you were at practice or maybe-
“you’re tory’s friend, right?”
you looked up, pausing your actions of pouring ice into the cup. your eyes met a pair of blue ones, studying you.
“uh, yeah,” your eyebrows were furrowed again, slightly confused as to who you were looking at...
red hair, rough red hair fading into pink...
eli.
your face dropped from its confusion and you were then trying your best to bite back a wave of amusement that begun filling your stomach.
“you’re on the figure skating team too, aren’t you.”
“yeah, are you?”
he scoffed, slight amused taking a drink of the solo cup he held in his hand, “no, hockey team. don’t think i’m nimble enough to do figure skating.”
your eyes raked his body, “hm, i think you could probably pull it off.”
you now leaned away from the counter, sliding further down to the other side where the bottle of waters were. eli followed you slightly on the other end of the marble counter.
“you’re flattering, really.”
“i try to be,” you begun dumping the contents of one of bottles you picked up into the cup, your eyes not meeting his but rather focused on what you were doing.
“y/n? that’s your name, right?”
“yeah, how’d you know?” you still didn’t look up, not really interested in the fact that he knew your name.
“not hard to know about something when you really wanna know about it.”
you looked up then, watching him drink the contents of his drink as he slightly analyzed you, wanting to see your reaction.
“you’re funny...” you mumbled, as if what he said was a joke, but you knew it was a joke, you were just confused, your eyebrows slightly raised.
“thanks.”
you didn’t know what to say, but you really wanted to say something as you stared at him and he stared back, waiting.
you didn’t know what to say.
and you wanted to think that he didn’t know what to say either but you knew better than to think that a boy like him didn’t have a million things to say, all things that could stump you even more, make you flustered, make you embarrassed, make you red in the cheeks.
a million things to say, but yet he stood silent, as if waiting for you to say the first words to allow him to pounce.

Queen of My Heart - Chapter 38 (The End!)
Book: The Royal Romance
Pairing: Drake X MC, Liam X Olivia, Hana X OC Lydia
Rating: PG-13
Summary: The show comes to and end, and Riley contemplates her future
Author’s Note: I can’t believe I’ve finally brought this series to an end. There was quite a long time I thought I may never finish. I want to thank all the readers and friends who’ve read and encouraged me along the way. I want to especially thank @debramcg1106 as of late for helping me work through the ending and pushing me to finish it out. This is the technical end of the story, but I do have an epilogue planned as well.

Queen of My Heart Chapter Index
Due to everything that transpired, filming of the finale was delayed two weeks. Riley was grateful for the time and hardly left Drake’s side during his recovery. He was sent back to the palace after a couple days, and Riley had to convince him that whiskey was not a suitable replacement for the antibiotics and pain medication the doctor prescribed. Reluctantly he obliged. He worked with physical therapy, and by the end of those two weeks, you’d have hardly known he’d been injured at all.
Olivia was salty her ball had been ruined, but the production staff made up for it, giving her and Liam an overnight filmed at Olivia’s northern Lythikos retreat. She was still worried the country would favor Riley with Liam, but Kat assured Olivia between her heroic actions, personal growth, and some favorable editing, it would be hard for most people not to be on her side.
As for Madeleine, it was still unclear if she would be charged criminally or would be incompetent to stand trial due to her mental health, but either way, she wouldn’t be a danger to anyone for quite some time. It was questionable if Jo’s involvement in the whole thing broke any laws. She wasn’t Cordonian, so she couldn’t be charged with treason for skirting security and endangering the life of the crown prince, but authorities were looking to see if there was anything they could make stick. At the very least she was blacklisted and would never work in television again.
So finally, on a calm, clear, day, there was only one obstacle left. Riley met with Liam, adorned in a stunning, body-hugging, Swarovski crystal filled dress, to put on the performance of a lifetime and act as if he’d shattered her heart. Of course, it wasn’t that easy. There were a couple of takes where neither of them could keep a straight face followed few that were unbelievably dramatic, but ultimately Riley was able to tap into her vulnerability and the tragedy she had faced to bring genuine emotion and tears to light. It didn’t matter that it was unrelated to what was happening in the scene, it was real. Kat said it was perfect, and Liam was free to propose to Olivia.
-----
Now that all is said and done, who will Liam choose to be his future Queen? Will it be the fierce Duchess Olivia, or the plucky newcomer Riley? Stay tuned for the finale of Queen of My Heart.”
Maxwell draped his arm around Riley’s shoulder. “What do you think, sis? How did I do on my television debut.”
Maxwell, Bertrand, Savannah, Hannah, Lydia, Liam, Olivia, Riley, and Drake were all huddled in the palace screening room to watch the finale as it aired.
Just about anyone would have been an improvement over Chad,” Riley teased, ”but the squid suit was definitely a nice touch. Your delivery was great, but did you have to call me plucky?”
“You know I had to play it cool,” Maxwell explained. “Plucky is good, but not over the top. Don’t want anyone thinking I’m playing favorites because you’re my sister.”
Riley rolled her eyes. “The suggested ‘noble newcomer’ would have been sufficient.”
“It was a stylistic choice.” Maxwell made a gesture with his hand indicating a mock hair flip.
"Ugh, enough about Maxwell," Olivia groaned. "I'm ready to get to the good part. Can we just fast-forward through any mushy Liam and Riley stuff? Nobody needs to see that."
"I second that." Drake raised his hand in rare agreement with Olivia.
Liam just shook his head. "I know nobody watches live network television anymore, so you must have forgotten how this works. There's no fast-forwarding. Not even through commercials."
"That's fine with me." Lydia chimed in. "More time for making out."
"Lydia!" Hannah's cheeks turned a deep shade of pink.
Lydia pecked her on the lips. "Sorry babe. You're just too damn cute when you blush."
Hannah remained quiet but her smile gave her away. Lydia, with her outgoing, bold, and slightly unpredictable personality, was the perfect complement to Hannah being so shy, proper, and focused. They brought out the best in each other, and the difference in Hannah between when Riley met her until now was night and day.
The friends watched the show and Riley only cringed at herself in a few places, which was much less than she thought she would. Things did get a bit awkward during the montage of kissing scenes between Riley and Liam, and Maxwell and Bertrand made a show of covering their eyes for the steamier parts. They all laughed inappropriately when Liam dumped Riley since they knew it wasn't real. And then finally when Liam proposed to Olivia, everyone cheered.
Riley thought of her friends and family at home. She pictured aunt Susan, Sarah, and Daniel all rooting for her and how disappointed they must have been that she "lost." She couldn't wait to tell them, however, she hadn't lost at all.
"Wow, Livvy." Drake quipped, bringing Riley out of her deep thoughts. "How much did you have to pay them to give you such a flattering edit?"
Olivia threw a pillow at his head which he deftly dodged. "Fuck off, Walker. You were so desperate to get on the show, you leapt in front of a bullet."
"Now, now children." Liam said in a mock scolding tone. "Let's all play nice."
"Yes, father," Drake and Olivia replied in unison, causing laughter to erupt around the room.
Riley still didn't have all the answers about what her future would hold, but she had found her people. Where she was in that moment was where she needed to be.
Savannah yawned. "It's getting late. We should probably go and relieve the sitter." Riley hasn't wanted to pry into Savannah and Bertrand's relationship, but they were working together to parent Bartie and things seemed to be falling into place for them.
"Yes, yes." Bertrand agreed. "Time is money!"
"Oh my god, Bertrand." Savannah rolled her eyes. "Life isn't all about money."
"She’s right." Maxwell propped his arm on Savannah's shoulder. "Besides, now that the show is over, we'll be getting some money, and Kat said if viewers responded well to me, they would probably offer to extend my contract in the franchise. By the looks of these tweets, I'm going to be rolling in dough. 'That Maxwell guy is so hot...ridiculously funny...just what the show needed.' Should I read more?
"Please no." Bertrand groaned. "We can talk finances later. Goodnight, all."
As the rest of the crowd dwindled, Liam asked Drake and Riley to stay behind. He kissed Olivia and promised to join her when the conversation was through.
"So what's up?" Drake got right to the point once only the three of them remained.
Liam cleared his throat. "Well as you know, I highly value your loyalty to the crown."
"Heh." Drake let out a terse laugh. "I don't really give a fuck about the crown, but I do care about you."
"In any case, you take your job very seriously and I could see you as head of the guard one day, once Bastien retires." Liam paused before continuing. "However, I do have another proposition for you."
Drake raised an eyebrow skeptically. "Go on."
"How would you like to be the head of Valtoria?" Liam asked expectantly.
Drake' eyes narrowed in contemplation. "I thought Valtoria was unoccupied. Is there a new Duke or Duchess there now that needs a security detail?"
"No, no." Liam laughed. "Well, there could be. That's what I'm trying to ask you. I would like to give Valtoria to you."
"No fucking way. You have to be kidding me. Did you sign up for some royal version of a prank show now?" Drake scanned the room as if searching for hidden cameras.
"I'm serious, Drake. I think you would make a fantastic duke."
Drake scoffed. "I'm a commoner who despises most nobles and everything the monarchy stands for."
"That's exactly why you'd be perfect for the role." Liam explained. "Cordonia needs a fresh perspective - someone who can resonate with the people the monarchy serves. Just think, you could have a real voice in creating change. I don't want to rule like my father has and his father before. I want the people to have the representation they deserve, and you are a key to that."
Drake sighed deeply. "I don't know Li. Even if I could do this - if I wanted to - what makes me worthy? What's everyone going to say when they find out you gave an average dude the title of Duke just because he's your best friend?"
"I'll tell them that Drake Walker is anything but average. He's smart, capable, and fiercely loyal. He's saved my life more times than I count and has more integrity than anyone I know. Public policy can be learned, but these qualities cannot be taught. He may not be noble by blood, but he is my family, and he belongs."
'Wow, Liam." Drake ran a hand through his hair. "I don't know what to say."
"You're quiet over there." Liam directed at Riley. "What do you think?"
"Me?!" Riley had been as shocked by this as Drake, and she didn't know what to think. This was about Drake, not her. Did her opinion really matter? "I, uh.... think this is really Drake's decision."
Drake took Riley's hands in his. "But it's yours too. I mean, if we are going to be together..."
"Oh, well..." How was Riley supposed to help Drake decide such a life altering thing when she didn't even have her own life sorted out?
Drake didn't leave her fumbling for too long. "Liam, I really don't know if either of use is equipped to answer this question right now. It's a very generous offer, and the fact that I'm not totally shutting you down for suggesting such a ridiculous thing as me being a Duke should tell you I'm genuinely willing to entertain the idea."
Liam chuckled. "I completely understand. This life is new to both of you in different ways, and to navigate a new relationship on top of all that is a lot to ask. I'm in no hurry to fill the vacancy. Consider it an open-ended invitation. I trust that you'll be ready to make your decision long before the public pressures me into making a new appointment."
"Thanks, Liam." Drake gave him hug and patted him on the back. "Now get back to your fiancé before she blames me for keeping you too long."
-----
Back in her palace guestroom, Riley nestled into Drake, her head resting on his chest. "It's been quite a night, huh?
"You could say that again." Drake pulled her tighter against him.
"I kind of feel like we're moving so fast, we're skipping steps - like we're being asked to decide the rest of our lives before we even know what we want to do tomorrow." Riley knew nobody was outright asking for an immediate decision, but she felt the weight of everyone's expectations. Whether she stayed in Cordonia or went back home, she'd probably be disappointing someone.
"Who says we have to?" Drake asked. "You heard Liam. He doesn't need an answer right away. I Know you haven't decided what you want, and I sure as hell don't know what I'm going to do yet. Why don't we take some time together to just...be. Do normal couple things and see where the relationship takes us."
"Normal couple things... I mean I don't know how I can go back to my normal peasant life after attending weekly balls dressed in couture gowns," Riley teased, "but I think I could make that sacrifice for you, my commoner boyfriend."
"Hey, watch who you are calling commoner." Drake pinned Riley down and tickled her sides until she begged him to stop, and he collapsed beside her again. "I just may outrank you soon if I so choose."
Riley laced her fingers through Drake's. "It's crazy to think how our lives have changed in a few short months. I don't think I could have made it through all of this without you, and not just because you kept literally saving my life."
"You may not have taken a bullet for me, but you've saved me too. For once in my life, I see multiple paths with meaning and purpose. I've seen so much of myself reflected in you, but it id the version of me I want to be, not the one I was. You've shown me trials and hardships don't have to make you bitter, and that you don't have to fit the cookie cutter mold to find your place here... Oh, God, listen to me. What have you done to me Bennett?" Drake shuddered in mock disgust.
Riley softly pressed her lips to his and pulled back with a smirk. "I don't think I can take all the credit, or the blame as you might put it. But enough talk about the future. You said we should focus on the now, and right now all I need is you."
"Well then, your wish is my command." Drake pulled Riley tight to him and then they lost themselves in each other, completely unencumbered by any decisions about their future. Those could wait for another day.

all for us [the wilds girls]
the wilds girls x platonic fem reader
requested: I love your imagines a lot, you’re an amazing writer! I had a promt where maybe the reader is the youngest of all the girls and basically the younger sister they all never had and they all care and love for her very much (maybe short flashbacks with moments of her and the girls) and once their quarantine is over they realize she’s missing and it turns out she got internal injury or something else quite angsty and the girls do everything they can for her
Tumblr media
*not my gif*
“So tell me about Y/N Y/L/N.” Agent Young says.
“Y/N Y/L/N?” Leah asks and Agent Young nods, “Where do I even begin?”
You were the youngest of the group. Not too much younger than them, but still younger. And just like regular siblings being the youngest had its perks and downfalls.
For one, you could never go anywhere alone. Even to pee, the girls would not let you out of their sight.
But, you got away with almost everything. The girls couldn’t stay mad at you for too long, not even Toni could stay mad at you. And she could literally stay mad at anyone until the day she died.
“I’m taking you and her were close?” Agent Fader asks.
“Yeah, she was close to pretty much everyone. She’s like a little bean we all wanted to protect. You just wanted to squish her cheeks ever time you see her.”
“Leah? What are you doing up here?” you ask her, plopping down onto the sand further away from everyone.
She shakes her head staring out at the sun that was just beginning to set, “Just reading the notes he left me...again. I know I’m pathetic.”
“I wasn’t gonna say that.” you reply and she looks at you wide-eyed.
“You weren’t?”
You shake your head, smiling at her a little bit, “You were in love. I’ve never been in love before, but when you’re in love you’re in love. And he dumped you which wasn’t cool. I don’t support your relationship with him, but it’s only natural to be heartbroken over it.”
“You’re wise for your age.” she says, ruffling your hair.
“If I ever meet Jeffery, I’m gonna kick his ass.” you warn her, looking at her dead in the eye.
“You probably can, if I’m being honest.” Leah states and she lets out a small laugh.
Yes, mission accomplished.
You nod with your fists up, pretending to block, “Hit him with that one, two, punch. Pow. Pow pow pow!” you mimic, punching the air in front of you.
Your fake fighting causes her to laugh a little louder and harder. So you decided to take it up a notch, get her distracted a little more.
You get up from where you were standing. And lift one leg up, like Daniel did in Karate Kid, “Finish him!” you yell, making your voice a little deeper.
Kicking your feet up in the air, however you don’t stick the landing. You fall onto your back letting out a small groan and the sudden hit. Leah starts laughing uncontrollably, releasing a little snort.
That small snort causes you to start laughing along with her. Jeffery long forgotten.
“We heard from Leah that Y/N was close with everyone. Is this true?” Fader asks.
“Oh yeah 100%.” Rachel says with a nod, “It was like having yet another younger sister to take care of. Or well...them taking care of me.”
“You think you can beat me in a swim race.” Rachel asks, staring at you like you’ve just grown two horns.
You hum in response, “Yep!”
“Fine you’re on! From this point to those rocks.” she says, pointing at the rock figures in the middle of the ocean.
“Who you got?” Dot asks, Toni.
Toni looks at her with a small smirk on her face, “I’m gonna bet on the underdog this round. I got my Diet Coke on Squirt here!” Toni gestures to you, using your annoying nickname that the girls named you after.
They gave you the nickname after the turtle from Finding Nemo. You pretended to hate it, but you secretly loved your embarrassing nickname.
“You’re on!” Dot says, shaking her hand.
“On your mark, get set...GO!” Martha yells sitting along next to Marcus.
The two of you take off swimming. You start off a little slow at first trying to maintain your energy, but Rachel was the opposite. She was using everything in her power to get their as fast as she could.
When she finally started slowing down, that’s when you pushed on the gas. Moving your arms and legs in a perfect motion. Slowly, but surely you started passing her just as you made it to the rocks.
“Hell yeah!” Toni yells.
Dot groans before throwing Toni a Diet Coke.
“How the hell did you do that?” Rachel asks you, out of breath as the two of you sat on the rocks.
“Honestly, no idea.” you say with a laugh and she rolls her eyes.
“Race you back!” she yells, jumping into the ocean.
“Cheater!” you yell before diving in after her.
Dot was slurping down her milkshake. While the two agents waited for her to stop drinking.
“Can I have another one of these?” Dot asks and Fader nods with a laugh.
“Who do you think you wanted to protect most on the island?” Young asks after Dot finishes her ten course meal.
“Y/N, hands down. I think that would be every girls answer.” Dot explains, plopping another fry into her mouth.
All of you girls were relaxing on the beach. After two days of scavenging the jungle for any sorts of food and firewood. This was the first day all of you could just relax.
“I just came up with the best idea!” you exclaim.
It was just you and Dot. The rest of the girls were scattered all over the beach, doing their own thing.
“What is it?” she asks as your eyes had that mischievous glint to them, “Oh no. I know that look!”
“We’re already stranded on a deserted island, what if we pretended we were on an episode of Naked and Afraid?!” you say, excitedly.
She releases on of her famous hearty laughs, “You want all of us to strip down naked? You really think the girls would be up for it?”
You nod your head, multiple times, “I bet at least 6/9 of the girls here have at least imagined one of us naked.”
Dot raises her eyebrows at you, “Are you one of those 6?”
“No comment...” you state.
After much convincing, you got the girls to have a pretend episode of Naked and Afraid. Everyone was stripping down of their clothes, looking at each other, trying to stifle a laugh.
The air was awkward, yet comfortable at the same time. The only awkward part was standing there unsure of what to do next.
“Y/N, you have a cute butt!” Fatin exclaims, giving you a high five.
Toni sidles up next to her to get a look, “Awe it looks like a little peach.”
You throw your face in your hands, shaking your head as a chorus full of aw’s fill the air.
Toni sat there with her arms crossed over her chest, not wanting to talk about anything to these phonies.
“So we’ve been asking the girls their opinions on everyone else, we’re gonna go one by one on the list and you’ll say one word to describe them.” Fader says and Toni just nods.
“Leah Rilke?”
“Over-thinker.” Toni replies.
“Rachel Reid?”
“Driven.”
“Dot Campbell?”
“Resourceful.”
“Shelby Goodkind?”
There was a moment of silence, trying to find the right words to say, “Complex.”
“Martha Blackburn?”
“Sister.”
“Y/N Y/L/N?”
Toni laughs to herself softly, “Squirt.”
You and Toni were out in the shallow waters of the ocean. Dot sent you and Toni on an experiment to see if watch she saw on TV actually works. Where you stand out in the water and catch a fish with your bare hands.
The two of you didn’t quite know the logistics on how it works, but you volunteered anyway. You were standing out, not too far away from the shore just reaching down trying to grab a fish to eat.
Each time you tried you came out short, “You look like an idiot right now.” Toni says, laughing at you flailing your arms in and out of the water.
“Shut up!” you say, splashing her with water.
“You guys aren’t doing it right?!” Nora yells from the shore, “You need to stay still and patient so the fish will come to you.”
“We literally picked the worst people for this job.” Shelby says and you and Toni flip her off from where you were standing, “You guys literally can not stay still for the life of you. And don’t even get me started on patience.”
“That’s rude!” you yell at her, “God can hear you! You’re supposed to be nice!”
“I’m also supposed to be honest!” Shelby shoot back and you mock her actions, before she gives you the bird herself.
“Hey that’s not allowed!” Toni yells at her girlfriend.
You start laughing with Toni, pushing her slightly. She pushes you back playfully, before it turns in to a full on battle to see who can get the other to fall first. But Toni being Toni decided to just tackle you.
“Ahhhhhh!” you say letting out a little screen, “Something’s touching me!”
“Pick it up! It could be a fish!” Toni exclaims.
You pick up the creature and yell a little louder when it bites you, tossing it in the process, “It bit me!!”
“Y/N, it’s a baby turtle!” Toni exclaims, “You were scared of a baby turtle!”
“Shut the fuck up.” you joke with her, but give her a serious look.
Toni picks up the turtle examining the cute little guy. She looks at the turtles face and then back at you doing a double take.
“It kinda looks like you.” she says, before letting it go back into the ocean.
“Fuck you.” you tease, tackling back into the ocean.
“We really picked the worst people.” Shelby says to Nora.
Both of them shaking their heads in disappointment.
“Thoughts on Y/N Y/L/N?”
“Oh intern for being the baddest bitch out there.” Fatin says with a smile on her face.
“Intern for who?” Fader asks.
“Me of course.”
Nora and Rachel were currently fighting to the death. Neither you, Leah, or Martha knew what to do.
“Y/N come over here!” Fatin says, gesturing for you to go where she was standing, “Take this bottle of lube!”
You catch the bottle of the lube she tossed you. And you raised your eyebrow up at her.
“Just follow my lead.” she brings her toothbrush up to her mouth, “Nora has Rachel pinned on the ground.” she mocks an announcer you would hear on ESPN.
“But Rachel is not giving up too easily folks!” you go along with your guys’ bit, “I don’t know about you Fatin, but I have never seen a girl fight this interesting in my life!”
“Agreed, usually it’s just a bunch of-HOLY SHIT that was a knee to the tit ladies and gentlemen!” she yells out.
“Is Rachel out for the count?!” you add on watching the fight unfold in front of you.
It’s probably not the best time to make jokes, but you all need to let loose once in awhile.
“Wait...she’s getting up!” Fatin yells.
“Oh my gosh she’s not...OUCH! That was knee to the twat!” you yell wincing at the pain that was just brought upon Nora.
“Y/N, how do you feel about this fight?” Fatin asks.
You shake your head, “I don’t know you have two amazing fighters going head to head for the very first time. We have Rachel, olympic diver, very strong and very determined. But then we have the underdog of the hour Nora who is small and scrawny, but she’s packing quite a punch. It could be anyone’s game.”
“You’re absolutely right Y/N! But Rachel now as Nora pinned to the ground and she can’t seem to get up! This fight might be over everyone!!”
“Hey there.” Shelby says, sitting down at the metal table.
“Hello Shelby, can we get you anything?” the two men ask and she just sit back in her seat, shaking her head.
Fader nods, “Well let’s get started, shall we?”
The three of them have a long conversation before Shelby ultimately decides to stop the interview all together.
“Wait just one question!” Fader exclaims as Shelby stands up, “How do you feel about Y/N?”
At the sound of your name Shelby freezes in her spot, “My favorite person on the island.” fear and worry start to fill her body at why the sudden question about you, “Is she okay??”
You were trekking in the jungle looking for some source of food. All of you ate all the food when the rescue plane was coming, but it’s not coming anytime soon so here you were.
Shelby, Toni, and Martha said they were gonna go out looking, but none of them were to be found. So you decided to go on a little expedition to find them. You heard rustling coming from the tree up ahead, so you decided to follow the noise.
Only to see Toni and Shelby basically naked under a lychee tree, “Oh my god!!!” you yell, covering your eyes with your hand.
“AHHH!” the two girls scream, but you couldn’t see what they were doing.
You turned around facing towards the direction you came from, “Sorry sorry. I was just looking for you guys and food. I uh I didn’t mean to.” you say, shaking your head.
“Jesus Y/N you scared us!” Shelby yells and you can hear rustling.
Hopefully, they were putting their clothes back on.
“Damn it I was getting laid!” Toni says jokingly and you could hear a smack hit her arm.
“Leave our daughter alone!” Shelby jokes and you laugh softly.
“Can I turn back around now?” you ask meekly.
“Yes.” the two girls say and you release a sigh and turn around to face the two girls.
You look at their flush faces, “You guys couldn’t have gone a little farther away?” you ask, “Thanks to you I’m more traumatized than I already was.” you joke.
“Oh c’mon you know you liked it.” Toni nudges your shoulder as the two of you walk back to the camp.
Your face flushes as you put your head in your hands, “Stop corrupting her!” Shelby yells at her.
“Let me see her!” Shelby yells at the two men.
“We can’t let you do that. You girls aren't allowed to see each other yet. Not for awhile.” Agent Young says.
“Can you at least tell me if she’s okay?” she asks, looking at the two men with her eyebrows raised.
“She’s fine.”
That didn’t relieve the feeling in Shelby’s chest that something could possibly be wrong. But she couldn’t do anything, even if we tried.
The girls didn’t know how long they were quarantined. It felt like months and it probably was a couple months. They finally let all of the girls hang out together in the small courtyard.
All of them hugging one another, super glad to see each other. Knowing that everyone’s okay. Well...everyone who made it.
“Y/N? Where’s Y/N?” Leah asks, looking at all the other girls.
“She was okay when we left. She should be here.” Dot adds on.
Shelby face was flushed with worry, “They wouldn’t let me see her when I asked about her. I asked if she was okay, but they said she was fine.”
Fader was standing there with a guilty look on his face. Toni’s blood was boiling at the look on his face. She runs up to him, pushing him against the wall, holding onto him by the collar.
“Where the fuck is she?!” she yells.
Which causes Agent Young to burst into the room, “What’s going on here?”
“Where is Y/N?!” Toni yells again, but at the other man.
Agent Young locks eyes with Fade and he subtly nods, “She’s in the infirmary. Her heart was in bad condition, so she needed open heart surgery. The surgeons are working on her right now.”
“You told me she was fine when I was being interrogated.” Shelby says in between gritted teeth, “Did you lie?”
The two men don’t answer. They just stare anywhere, but at the other girls. The silence spoke louder than any words did. Fatin scoffs at the men’s actions.
“That’s why you wanted to know huh?” Leah asks, her imagination running wild, “You wanted to know about her because you were wondering if she was worth saving. Isn’t that right?”
Neither of the men decided to speak again.
“Let us see her.” Rachel says, staring at them intensely.
“We can’t do that. She’s in surgery right now.” Young says.
Toni pushes Fader up against the wall yet again, “You’re gonna let us see her when she’s out. No excuses. No bullshit. You’re gonna let us see our friend.” Toni threatens.
The girls sat in the waiting room of the infirmary. Leah paced back and forth chewing on her fingernail. Toni was trying to console a worried Shelby. While Dot, Rachel, and Fatin sat in the seats waiting impatiently.
Agent Young filled the girls in on your condition. You had a heart disease before you came onto the island. And your parents gave you a little trip to help because of the depressive state you were in. Little did they know you would be trapped on an island with none of the medication that was needed to help you survive.
All of the rigorous activity brought your heart to a weaker state than ever before. When the girls got saved, you were already experiencing symptoms of heart failure. And you were put under immediate watch when you reached the facility. You were getting better, but then your heart gave out and you needed to get an artery reconstructed.
“We already lost too much.” Fatin whispers in the tense silence of the waiting room.
“Nora, Martha...” Rachel draws out.
“We can’t lose Y/N.” Toni adds.
“The girl who loved the most has a heart condition. How ironic is that?” Dot asks.
“I’m scared guys.” Leah whispers.
“She’s strong, she’ll pull through.” Shelby says, trying to boost their hope, but she’s losing faith herself.
After God knows how long the doctor finally came out. All of the girls looking up at her. Tears brimming all of their eyes, scared for the answer they were about to get.
“She’s okay. We managed to repair it without too much trouble. You guys can see her now.” the doctor says and everyone lets out this huge breath.
A smile breaks out on Fatin’s face as tears spill from her face. The six girls walk into your hospital room where you were laying peacefully. Your eyes somewhat open, you had a soft smile on your face as you stared at the girls.
“Hey guys!” you exclaim, as excited as you can.
Dot lets out a small sniffle, “You scared us, asshole!”
“Why didn’t you tell us about your condition?” Fatin asks, tears still streaming down her face.
You shrug, “We already were going through too much. I didn’t want to worry everyone more or get treated any differently. Rachel, if I told you about my heart would you have raced me?”
She shakes her head, “No.”
“Exactly.”
Rachel, Dot, and Fatin take a seat on the foot of the rock-hard hospital bed. You scooted over so Leah could cuddle in next to you. While Shelby and Toni pulled up a chair right by your side.
Leah rests her head on your shoulder, “We thought we were gonna lose you Squirt.” Toni says, ruffling your hair.
Shelby was still crying, looking at you full of worry. You look at the blonde beauty who was now bald, but she still looked beautiful.
“Come here.” you whisper to her. You scoot over closer to her Leah, making room for her.
She sits next to you, crying into your chest, “Hey. I’m okay Shelby.” you look at all of the other girls who still had worry on their face, “I’m okay guys. We’re all okay.”
But the girls don’t look convinced.
“Listen to my heart Shelby, it’s still beating. Just focus on that okay?” you tell her and she nods. Even Leah could hear your heart beating from here.
“You’re really okay?” Shelby asks and you nod.
“I’m okay. I promise.” you say, giving each of the girls a look, They all nod with small smiles, “Now how the hell do we get out of here?” you whisper.
And each of you give each other a small smirk, “Time for the Great Escape.”

Yeonjun followed his mom inside of the house he used to call home before he left for college. The familiar scent of amber and vanilla welcomed him as he stepped inside.
The heels of his shoes made a loud ticking noise on the luxurious black marble tiled floor with each step he took. The place hadn’t changed much. The only thing different being the flower arrangements and the emptiness of the massive Villa.
It used to be way more lively in here. There were always all sorts of visitors in the house, if it was staff, family members, or friends of his dad’s; there was never a quiet moment during the day, which made the silence even more confronting and saddening.
He sighed putting his bag down, stretching his aching body as a result of the long drive.
“Your room is exactly how you left it.” His mom says timidly. “I guess somehow I wished you’d return home someday so I didn’t have the heart to change anything about it.”
Yeonjun looks at his mother a little puzzled. All of the emotional confessions are taking a toll on him and he isn’t quite sure what he should be saying to her.
Just as the silence was starting to get awkward, they get interrupted.
“Yeonjun? Is that you?” a voice sounds from across the hall.
Yeonjun’s ears perk up and as he makes eye contact with her, his lips curl up into a loving smile.
“Yes, Lita imo, it’s me…” he says shyly as he let the older woman hug him tightly. Lita is the head housekeeper who has been working for the family since Yeonjun could walk.
She’s the one who packed his lunches and sat with him at the dinner table when his parents were too busy working. The only person he truly missed from the household was her. So, seeing her again after all this time made his heart swell.
He just wishes the circumstances were a little different.
She sighed as she held him at arms-length and studied him for a second. “Did you grow even more? When does it stop? You’re getting scary tall. And where did your baby cheeks go huh?” she says pinching his cheek, making sure to baby him like she used to.
“Ah-ah-ah” he whines as she let go of his cheek. They were beaming at each other and his mother noticed. A faint smile also on her face as she watched their dynamic.
She never really noticed how close they were until now.
“I’ll go make your bed. You must be tired from the trip.” Lita says, patting his shoulder before she makes her way up the stairs and into his old bedroom.
Yeonjun watched her go up with a small smile and sighed contently.
He followed his mother into the formal living room and sat down on the couch, letting his fingers graze over the velvety material.
“So…where is he?” he asks looking at his mom.
“He’s in the hospital.”
“Do we go…tonight?” He asks, uncertainty evident in his tone of voice.
“Yes, but let’s have some dinner first alright? I told Lita to make your favourite.”

“I can’t believe you stole the tournament bus,” Taehyun says clicking his tongue.
“It’s not stealing if I have a key.” Soobin argues back. “Besides how else were we all going to fit in the same car.”
The small bus had space for exactly 7 people, so you were glad it was even an option. Soobin being the team captain and all had its perks. He has keys to almost every facility and even the fucking school building.
“I hope this little stunt doesn’t get me suspended,” he says nervously biting his lip.
“No one will notice it’s missing hyung, it’s summer break.” Hueningkai retorts as he leans forward to pat Soobin on the back. Hueningkai was seated next to Taehyun in the middle row, while you and Beomgyu cozied up together in the back seats as Mia assisted Soobin with navigating in the front seat.
If the situation was any different, this could have accounted for a fun road trip with your friends, but the reality of things was a lot more somber.
“No, baby no! It’s a left here.” Mia panics as Soobin misses the exit.
“You said the next one!” he whines, slightly raising his voice.
“This is the next one!”
“Ugh, great. That at least an hour detour,” Taehyun states yanking the phone from Mia’s grip to inspect the route.
“Don’t get annoyed with each other already, we’ve been driving for only an hour,” you say interrupting the couples’ arguing.
Everyone was tense. None of you knew what the fuck you were even driving towards, where you would stay, what you would do when you’d see him.  It was a permanent decision made on temporary feelings and you were anxious, to say the least, and given everyone’s attitudes, so were they.
“Well originally it was only 5 more hours, but thanks to someone it turned into 6.” Soobin says, which made Mia glare at him venomously.
“We’ll be lucky if we arrive before midnight with breaks included.” Taehyun states calculating quickly as he passes the phone back to Mia.
Beomgyu was asleep with his head on your shoulder, ignoring all the banter. You envied his ability to fall asleep anywhere at any time and sighed as you fixed a piece of his hair.
“It’s not the end of the world guys.” Hueningkai says calming them down. “I know we’re all nervous and every second counts, but we don’t even have a plan for when we get there,”
“The plan is to be there for him.” Soobin says tightening his grip on the steering wheel.
“No matter what.”

Yeonjun stood frozen on his feet with his hand on the doorknob to his fathers’ private hospital suite. The amount of security he had to go through was of insane proportions. If his mom wasn’t there to confirm that his dad indeed had a son, he was sure he wouldn’t even be able to enter on his own.
He let go of the knob and inhaled sharply before turning around to face his mother.
“I can’t do this,” he says with a shaky voice while his enlarged pupils dart to his mothers’ equally dark ones.
“Do you want me to go with you?” She asked putting a comforting hand on his shoulder as her brows furrow in concern.
Yeonjun thinks about it for a second but shakes his head in reply.
If he’s gonna do it, he’ll do it by himself. Though the presence of his friends would have helped, that wasn’t an option.
“I’ll be right here if you need me.” His mother assures, and for some reason, that small sentence of encouragement was all he needed. Hell, it was the most encouragement he’s gotten from his mom his entire life, so he took it with both hands.
He nodded to himself, his demeanor shifting to a much more confident one as the look in his eyes changed while twisting the doorknob.
He peaked his head through, knocking on the door softly. The view of his father was blocked by the figure of a nurse but as she turned to look at who was at the door, his father was in full view.
His mom was right, his condition was bad.
The once so powerful and unbreakable businessman Daniel Choi looked everything but those things.
He had lost a lot of weight, his cheeks sunken, hair gray. His lips were chapped and dry, as was his skin. All in all, he looked sick, and far more dead than alive.
Yeonjun’s eyes widened at the sight. There was no way that Yeonjun wanted to show empathy towards the man but somehow, he felt bad for him.
“Yeonjun, right?” the nurse says as she smiles at Yeonjun warmly.
He just nods in response and notices how his dad has only been staring at the wall in front of him, not responding to anything that was going on.
Yeonjun closes the door behind him and walks towards the nurse, keeping his eyes on his dad.
“He’s sedated to cope with the pain. He can hear you and see you. He responds if you get close enough, though it might take some time for him to process what is going on around him.”
Yeonjun nervously bit his lip, the sudden wave of emotions he was feeling becoming too much for him. He didn’t anticipate this, he thought he could have at least had one last normal conversation with him.
“Does he even remember me?” Is the first thing he says, the sound of his voice made Daniel’s head snap into Yeonjun’s direction and it startled Yeonjun.
His father’s fingers started to twitch in response. His movement became more demanding and the nurse immediately went over to him to calm him down.
“All he’s been asking for the past few weeks is you, Yeonjun. I think he’s surprised to see you too,” she says as she gives your dad a slight smile, patting his shoulder in an attempt to calm him down.
All Daniel was looking at was Yeonjun. He kept trying to lift his hand to motion to Yeonjun that he should come closer, but the message wasn’t quite clear.
Yeonjun didn’t know what to do, he stood awkwardly frozen in place as he watched his dad become more and more restless.
“Do I need to leave?” He asked a little distressed.
“No, I actually think he wants you to come closer, it’s okay. You can sit next to him on the stool. He’ll appreciate it,” she says holding out her hand as she motions for him to approach.
He took a deep breath and looked his father in the eye once more as he walked towards the bed.
His dad seemed to calm down as Yeonjun sat down beside him. His eyes scanning his son's face. He was able to grab Yeonjun’s hand, which surprised him, but he didn’t have the heart to pull away.
“I’ll give you two some space, if anything happens; press that button above his bed” the nurse says pointing toward the rectangular looking remote.
Yeonjun nodded, giving her a last look as she walked out. When the door closed behind her, he averted his attention back to his father. Sighing loudly as he looked at their intertwined fingers.
“You must really be out of your mind if you’re voluntarily holding my hand.” Yeonjun thinks out loud, speaking under his breath as he stares at their hands.
He felt tears prickle his eyes. His bottom lip trembling as the first tear escapes his eye.
He felt his father squeeze his hand, which made him look up at him.
“I really do hate you.” Yeonjun says in between sobs. “I do. I hate you.”
His father just looked at him, blinking a couple of times to show that he understands.
“So why the fuck am I even crying,” he huffs. This is a rhetorical question of course. He knows exactly why he’s crying. He’s crying because he’s powerless.
Yeonjun tears turned into frustration as he yanks his hand from his dad’s grasp. Angrily wiping his tears away as he collects himself.
“You can hear everything right?”
No response.
“Can you blink once for yes and twice for No.”
One blink.
Yeonjun sniffed nodding to himself as he organizes his thoughts. “Ok. So, we can communicate,” he thinks out loud.
His confidence returned, he rolls his shoulders back and places his hands on his thighs as he straightens out his posture.
“Why did you want me here?” Yeonjun asks getting straight to the point.
Daniel cocked his head to the side to show confusion, but his fathers’ confusion to the question only confused Yeonjun more.
“You wouldn’t tell mom why you wanted to see me. So why did you.”
His father tried to speak, but it was to no avail as he gave up quickly. Sighing in frustration at the fact that he couldn’t form words.
“Right, that’s not a yes or no question.” Yeonjun realizes, crossing his legs as he buries his face in his hands, lightly massaging his own scalp to release the tension in his brain.
After a few seconds he looks up, catching his dad staring at him intensely. Yeonjun uncomfortably shifted in his seat, noticing how his dad was getting more restless as he tried his best to form words.
“T-t-table.”
Yeonjun’s mouth fell agape to the sound of his dad's voice. “The table? Which table?” he asks getting up. Looking around frantically to catch any clues to what his dad is trying to tell him.
He followed his fathers’ gaze and quickly walked towards the expensive-looking mahogany table in the left corner of the room.
His eyes fall on an envelope with his name on it. His fingers ghost over the paper material, scanning it thoroughly as he picks it up.
He looks back at his dad who was still staring back at him. Yeonjun nodded. Taking the envelope with him as he sat back down on the stool.
“You want me to read this?” he asks, which earned one clear blink.
“Alright.” Yeonjun sighs as he opens the letter.
“To Yeonjun.” he reads aloud.
I don’t know whether or not you will read this when I’m dead or alive, but that’s not the point. After you’ve read this, make sure no one else does.
Even if you think I didn’t show interest in your life, I watched your every move. I know about your schoolwork, your team, your friends, the girl you like. I know it all.
I’ve had people watch you for me ever since I found out I was dying. Which has been years now. I made them write me reports on your character, your skills, and the way people perceive you and I have to say, I was surprised, to say the least.
You have proven yourself to be a leader rather than a follower. You are passionate, hard-working, smart and competent and will do literally anything to fight for your goals.
The only reason you are all of these things is because you had to work for it. You were never emotionally cradled as a child and from an early age you were aware that success is something you don’t just gain without a bead of sweat
You have seen the world at its darkest before you could feel what true happiness is, and that was not done unintentionally.
Your upbringing might have been tough. But it’s what you needed to become the ruthless and determined person that you are today.
That same ruthlessness and determination are what Choi Enterprises needs. Which brings me to the point of this letter.
There is no other person on the planet that I entrust with the future of Choi Enterprises other than you.
I don’t trust your mother and therefore I cannot let the company fall into the hands of your mother and her cunning family.
For your entire life, all I did was make sure you were ready for this moment. And even though it came earlier than anticipated, If you sign the attached documents. It’s all yours effective immediately.
Power comes with a price that I was willing to pay.
And I hope that you will too.
-  Daniel Choi.
Yeonjun blinks a couple of times to let it all register to him. He lifts his head from the paper and looks at his father's hopeful expression.
“You spied on me.” he says in disbelief.
“You spied on me, but you couldn’t send me a birthday card?”  It was a figure of speech, though his dad got what he meant.
Anger filled Yeonjun’s senses. The audacity this took from his father is on another level of crazy.
He got up, kicking the stool he sat on aggressively, making it fall to the floor with a loud thud.
His dad didn’t even flinch. He just kept staring at Yeonjun with the same look from before.
“Tell me.”
Yeonjun says as he inches his face closer to his father.
“Do you regret it?”
Daniel cocked his head to the side in confusion and waited for Yeonjun to continue.
“Do you regret being an abusive piece of shit? The whole, you needed to live through it to become strong shit isn’t cutting it for me. Do you regret it? Yes or No.”
Yeonjun was seething. He was inches away from his dad, fists balled, wrinkling the letter and attached documents in his left hand as a result of his strength as he anticipated his fathers’ answer.
The look in Daniel’s eyes went cold followed by two blinks.
“No.” Yeonjun scoffs. “Of course, you don’t.”
Yeonjun took a step back, clearing his throat as he swallowed his anger with it.
“Well in that case…” he says inspecting the papers in his hands. He held it in front of his line of sight, making sure his dad can see what he’s about to do.
He held on to each side of the pile of papers, ripping it in half slowly.
“Take that contract to your fucking grave.” He spits as he throws it into the nearest trash can.
His dad started to panic, convulsing aggressively in his bed. Gulping for air as he tried his best to move and speak at the same time.
Yeonjun pressed the distress button and stormed out of the room, not bidding his dad another look.
He slammed the door behind him, startling his mother who was waiting for him in the hall.
“Yeonjun!” she yelled after him. She quickly looked back to the room her husband was in, shocked with the sight of multiple nurses trying to hold him down.
She didn’t hesitate to run after Yeonjun, catching him in the hallway.
“Yeonjun wait a second!”
He halted his long strides, breathing heavily as he turned around on his heels.
“What happened in there?” his mother asks wide-eyed as she lays a hand on his shoulder in order to calm him down.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” he says clenching his jaw, shaking his mothers hand off of his shoulder.
“Okay…whenever you’re ready.” she tries carefully, trying not to tick him off any further.
“Let’s go home. You’ve been through enough today.”
Tumblr media
“Hyung are you sure you put in the right address?” Hueningkai asks wide-eyed as he got out of the van first.
“This can’t be it,” Taehyun says with his mouth agape.  “This isn’t even considered a house. It looks like a damn palace.”
“I knew Yeonjun’s family was loaded but this…” Mia remarks.
You get out of the car, your mouth going dry as you look at the biggest house you’ve seen in your life. It was modern, yet rustic. The home had huge windows and white pillars and there was a huge stone staircase that lead up to the front door.
“How many bathrooms do you think they have?” Beomgyu gulps, his eyes darting from one side of the house to the other.
“Really? That’s what’s important right now?” Taehyun argues
“I’m just curious,” Beomgyu says rolling his eyes.
“Well..let’s….knock?” Soobin says with uncertainty peeking through his voice.
You take a deep breath, calming your nerves as you didn’t know what you would walk into. You weren’t sure how Yeonjun would feel to see you again or to see any of you right now. You had hoped the 6 turned 7-hour drive wasn’t for nothing, and that you could talk to Yeonjun with a clear mind.
Soobin took the lead with the rest of you trailing behind him. He sighed looking back at you guys before he built up the courage to ring the doorbell.
All of you were dead silent, anticipating for the door to be opened.
After a few more seconds, the large double doors open automatically, with a timid rather small lady standing in the doorway with an equally confused expression on her face to match yours.
That can’t be his mother? Right? They look nothing alike.
“Ehm…can I help you? It’s close to midnight? You do realize this is private property?” Lita says looking at the group with suspicion.
“Ehm, Hi mam, my name is Soobin, these are my friends…well…Yeonjun’s friends. We kind of…followed him here.” Soobin stammers incoherently. “But with good intent! We just…want to be there for him because…well…we think he’s having a hard time and-“
“Soobin.” You say shutting him up. “I think she gets it.”
Yeonjun heard multiple voices at the front door and came down the stairs out of curiosity. As he turns the corner, seeing a raven-haired tall figure at the front. He knew exactly who it was.
His eyes widened as his pace quickened, walking towards the voices a little faster.
You saw Yeonjun emerge from behind the lady, and when his eyes landed on all of you, he stood frozen on his feet next to her. The first one he made eye contact with is you.
The two of you stared at each other for a few seconds before the smaller lady interrupted the moment.
“Yeonjun, do you know these people?” She asks with a much kinder tone as she speaks to him.
“Y-yes, these are my friends,” Yeonjun says breaking eye contact with you, looking at the rest.
“How did you find out where I lived?”
“Y/n found out actually…there was a box in your room with the address on it…under your bed,” Mia says jumping in.
Yeonjuns eyes landed on you once again, giving you a small smile which you reciprocated, not knowing what else to do.
“Hyung, if you don’t want us here, I’m so sorry. But the way you left, we were worried and-”
Soobin couldn’t finish his sentence before Yeonjun pulled him towards him with a hard pull. The two hugged for a few seconds before Yeonjun let go, putting his hand on Soobin's shoulder as he looked at all of you with pure affection.
“I can’t believe you came all the way here…I don’t know what to say,” he says scratching the back of his head, still a little lost for words.
“How about, come in. It’s freezing.” Beomgyu says giving the older one a bitter smile as he chatters his teeth dramatically to show that he was cold.
Yeonjun chuckled, stepping aside so all of you could enter. And so, you did.
All of your jaws dropped at the interior and detail that went into the decoration of the place. The hall was huge and connected all of the separate rooms and wings together. Apart from the dark tiled floors, the colour scheme was light. Different shades of whites and nudes made up the interior. It was stylish, yet classic at the same time, with pops of colours from different flowers in huge vases.
“Do I need to prepare the guest rooms?” Lita asks a little flustered at the sudden appearance of 6 more guests.
Ah…so she’s the housekeeper, you think to yourself as you snap back to reality.
Mia nudged you, mouthing a subtle ‘Marry him’ to you, which you roll your eyes at.
“Uhm, yes. If you don’t mind. Thank you, Lita.” Yeonjun says bidding her a quick nod as Lita walks off quickly.
Yeonjun’s attention focused on all of you again, and Hueningkai barged his way through, ready to hug Yeonjun tightly.
“Hyung, are you okay? What happened?” he asks as he rubbed the older one’s belly while he still clung onto him like he always does.
His mother stood at the top of the stairs, unnoticed by any of you. She looked at the dynamic of all of you, especially looking at how clingy Hueningkai was with her son. She didn’t peg Yeonjun to be the type for physical affection like this.
A smile crept on her face, moved by the fact that his friends would go to these lengths to be there for him.
She tied her robe around herself, making her way down the stairs. And as she did so, Beomgyu noticed. He nudged Taehyun and motioned for him to look up, so he did, followed by all of you as you fell silent.
Yeonjun looked in the same direction all of you were focusing your gazes on, and immediately understood why you fell quiet like that.
As she made her way down the stairs, you got a closer look at her face, and the resemblance she had to Yeonjun was almost scary.
“Yeonjun? Who are these people?” Her voice was clear and warm, a little raspy cause she was probably asleep before you invaded her home.
She scanned everyones faces but when her eyes landed on you, they lingered on you, and it made you feel incredibly self-conscious.
Your paranoid ass started to get insecure, thinking she knew something about your relationship with her son, but her attention was quickly averted as Yeonjun spoke up.
“Is it okay if they stay here?” he asked politely.
“Of course, make yourselves at home. Any friend of Yeonjun’s is welcome here. If you all move to the living room so you can talk, I’ll go make some tea.”
“Thanks, mom.”
This whole dialogue confused all of you. To your knowledge, their relationship was questionable. But this seemed like a regular Mother and Son dynamic.
His mother disappeared in the massive hall as Yeonjun motioned for all of you to walk towards the living room. He knew he had a lot of explaining to do but he was dying to know why you were here after everything he said to you.
He was sure that no matter the circumstance, you’d never want to see him again. Yet here you were, looking at him with those big doe eyes of yours.
As the rest of the group admired the rest of the house, walking towards the living room, Yeonjun stopped you by tugging at your elbow lightly.
Your heart raced as he touched you, you looked down, hooking your pinkie in his before you looked up at his face.
His eyes were sad, apologetic, and insecure. “I…didn’t expect you to come with them…” he says looking at your intertwined fingers.
You sighed, rubbing comforting circles into his palm with your thumb. “Let’s talk later ok?” you say giving him a small yet reassuring smile. He nodded, letting go of your hand, leading you into the formal living room.
He caught Beomgyu playing with an antique object and Yeonjun’s brotherly side immediately kicked in. “If you break that you’re gonna have to work all of your life to repay my mother,” he says sternly as he sat down in the chair opposite from the couch all of you were seated on.
Beomgyu quickly let go of the weird-looking object and cleared his throat. “Ok, spill the beans hyung. What’s going on?” He asks as he sat down on the armrest of Yeonjun’s chair.
Yeonjun sighed, not quite knowing where to start.
“First of all. I owe all of you an apology,” he starts choking up a little.
“Hyung…” Taehyun says, his eyes getting sad as he watched Yeonjun protectively.
The mood in the room suddenly shifted as Yeonjun sighed. You could swear his eyes were getting watery, and there was nothing more that you wanted than to hold him in your arms right now. You wanted to comfort him and tell him everything was going to be okay, but you had no idea what was going on yet.
His mother emerged from the entrance with a tray full of teacups and cookies. She put down the tray and stood beside Yeonjun in silence.
“I’m sorry for acting the way I did on the night of the party. The way I acted towards you guys was uncalled for, especially towards you… y/n.”
You lock eyes with him again, and you feel his mothers’ eyes on you as well.
Hueningkai sat down in front of Yeonjun on the floor, putting a comforting hand on his knee.
Yeonjun gave him a small smile. Out of nervousness, Soobin grabbed Mia’s hand and squeezed it as all of you anticipated his next words.
“That night, I stayed at my uncle's house. The next morning my mom showed up to talk to me. It took some time but…we found some type of middle ground and I agreed to come back home with her for a while.”
“So…what was the family emergency?” Soobin asks a little confused.
Yeonjun inhaled sharply, rubbing his temple. He fell quiet for a second, suddenly noticing the room full of people that cared enough about him to drive all the way across the country to comfort him in a situation they didn’t know of, even though he was being a complete asshole.
He didn’t know what he did to deserve them. He looked at them individually and his heart started to swell with the intense amount of love he felt for them.
He looked at Beomgyu’s arm around him, Hyuka’s comforting hand on his knee, Soobin’s worried and glistening eyes to match Taehyun’s, Mia’s protectiveness, and your patient yet scared facial expression.
He bit his lip, getting emotional and he felt Beomgyu pull him closer.
“My dad is counting his last days,” he says looking at the floor.
You didn’t know about anyone else, but this was the last thing you expected.
The room fell silent apart from a few gasps. Your heart sank to your stomach and tears start to prickle your eyes as you watch him struggle to contain his emotions. His lip was slightly trembling, his hand covering his mouth as his eyes were big and sad.
“Oh, Yeonjun…” Mia sighs as she rubs Soobin’s back to comfort him as well.
Soobin isn’t one to cry but seeing the people he loves the most go through pain is absolutely heartbreaking to him. He wiped a single tear from his eyes and so did Taehyun as he sighed loudly.
Yeonjun huffed, wiping the tears from the corners of his eyes to look at his friends. “Don’t cry. Stop, please.” He starts.
“It’s going to sound awful, but I’m not sad that he’s dying. My dad was…is a horrible person. He was abusive, manipulative, and unreasonable. There was no one I feared more than that man. Every time I closed my eyes at night I wasn’t scared of aliens and monsters under my bed, I was scared of him coming into my room to yell at me or hit me. I think I’m sadder about the fact that I’ll never get an apology out of him for ruining me. I’ll never hear him say that he was wrong for the things that he did to me as a kid and that’s the hardest pill to swallow.” Yeonjun confessed all in one go.
You swallowed harshly, trying to suppress a sob. Taehyun noticed that you were having a hard time, so he put his arm around you, making you lean into him by subtly pulling you towards him.
“I went to see him today, and even though we couldn’t really communicate the way I hoped we would, he made it clear to me that he wasn’t sorry.”
“What…” Soobin says in disbelief. “He wasn’t remorseful at all?”
“No.” Yeonjun shook his head, contemplating if he should tell them about the contract and the company, but given the fact that his mother was in the room; he decided against it.
He didn’t know if he could trust her, for all he knew she could be after the money and the company herself. Knowing his mother, she could be just as ruthless as her dad when it came to business matters.
“Yeonjun, we’re here for you. Seriously. If you need anything at all just tell us. We won’t be leaving unless you tell us to.” Soobin states confidently as they look each other in the eye. His words made Yeonjun feel assured, and he bid Soobin a small smile. It was nice knowing that he wouldn’t be going through this alone.
He took a deep breath, shaking the sadness off of him. “Thank you guys for coming, seriously. I think I needed all of you more than I thought I would.”
“Of course,” Hueningkai says.
“Anytime, we’re family,” Beomgyu says as he squeezed Yeonjun’s shoulder.
You heard a small scoff from the left corner of the room and saw his mother with her arms crossed.
You narrowed your eyes at her, raising your brow.
“Friends are friends, family is family,” she says, genuinely believing her own words.
Everyone was looking at her by now, as was Yeonjun who just sighed, ignoring her.
You don’t know why, but suddenly you feel a surreal amount of anger boiling in the pit of your stomach. You scoff at her statement which made Mia give you a warning look.
“We’ve been more of a family to him than you have been his whole life,” you say clear as day before you can think of the damage that you’ve just done, and just like that the atmosphere turned cold.
Yeonjun’s eyes widened, looking at you in shock.
Soobin uncomfortably shifted in his seat and Taehyun gave you a ‘bitch what the fuck was that’ look.
“Excuse me?” his mother’s tone changed completely. The once so soft-spoken woman turned into the ice queen herself and gave you a look that would normally make you run the opposite direction, but you held your ground by staring back at her fiercely.
“What she means is…” Taehyun jumps in quickly. “That we truly are a family, we’d go to hell and back for each other and that’s a fact…mam,” he says as politely as humanly possible.
You try your best not to roll your eyes, which Yeonjun noticed. He had an amused smile on his lips, which his mother then noticed and suddenly it clicked to her. You were the girlfriend who wasn’t his girlfriend. The girl that stole her son’s heart, and the girl that talked back to her in her own home.
“It’s getting late. I suggest everyone gets some sleep. You all must be tired from the long drive. We don’t know what is waiting for us tomorrow and if you are sticking by his side like you all say you are, then we better get some good night’s rest.” She says almost diplomatically, perfectly enunciating every word as if she rehearsed it.
You honestly didn’t even think of sleeping, you wanted to talk to Yeonjun, clear the air between you two, and comfort him to your best ability. He just told you his dad was dying, and his feelings were disregarded so quickly that it shocked you.
In your household, a revelation like this would result in hours upon hours of talking about your feelings, whereas in Yeonjun’s home. Feelings are seen as a temporary burden. It was scary how quickly the mood switched from emotional to almost business-like, but Yeonjun didn’t know any better. He was wired the exact same way as his mother because that’s how he had learned to deal with his feelings.
It’s like he only allowed himself to feel true emotion for a little while, seeing it as impractical to be vulnerable. This household really did feel like a business deal, which made your heartache for Yeonjun even more.
Soobin was the first to get up, stretching his tall body before he helped Mia to her feet as well.
Lita emerged from the entrance to lead all of you upstairs to your respective guest rooms.
Soobin and Mia shared a room, as did Hueningkai and Taehyun. Beomgyu and yourself, however, got rooms to yourselves with attached bathrooms in a whole different wing than the others.
From the outside, his house looked enormous, but from the inside, it was even bigger. You were already getting lost in the halls even though you were in a group. You had no idea where you came from every time you turned a corner and Yeonjun noticed how lost you were, chuckling to himself a little as he walked closely behind you.
You were the last one to be appointed to a room, as everyone else was already settling down.
“This is where you’ll be staying miss.” Lita says as she points to the door across from Beomgyu’s room.
You nod sheepishly, turning the doorknob. Your mouth fell agape at the sight of the room. You could swear it was as big as your apartment. The interior was classic, yet modern. And looking at the way the bed was made you were almost scared to wrinkle the bedsheets.
You swallow harshly, trying to act as nonchalant as possible.
“This will do, right? If not, I have a bigger option at the end of the hall.”
“N-no, this is fine, more than fine,” you stutter.
Yeonjun stood behind Lita, leaning against the doorframe with a shit-eating grin on his face.
He was enjoying your flustered state, as it took a lot to get your smart-ass anywhere close to dumbfounded.
You saw the playfulness in his eyes, and you cursed at yourself for being so obviously impressed with everything.
“If you need anything just give me a call with the house phone. The number is on your bedside table. Goodnight.” Lita says giving you a warm smile.
“Goodnight…” you mutter timidly as you close the door behind you after you watched Yeonjun walk off with her.
You lean your head against the doorframe, your mind spinning with all of the things that happened in such a short time frame.
You sigh, throwing your bag on the bed. You decided to take a quick shower. The attached bathroom looked like one out of a magazine, so it took some time for you to adjust and figure out how to set the right temperature for the faucet.
You really needed that shower to clear your mind and relax your muscles. You were basically clenching your butt cheeks the whole night out of nervousness, and you could already feel the muscles in your body getting sore. You sigh, finishing up your routine and slipping into an oversized shirt to sleep in.
During your whole routine, all you could think of was Yeonjun, and how badly you wanted to be alone with him right now.
You stare at the ceiling as you laid on your back, completely engulfed in the soft sheets and pillows of the bed.
You were wondering how he was doing, if he was thinking of you or if he was asleep.
You sit up, turning on the bedside lamp as you reach for your phone, ready to text or call him but your actions were interrupted as you heard soft knocks on your door.
Your eyes widened, knowing damn well that it was him.
You put your phone aside and crawled out of the bed with lightning speed.
When you opened the door and locked eyes with him, you launched yourself at him, wrapping your arms around his frame to hug him tightly.
He was surprised by your affection, wrapping his arms around you as well to hold you even tighter.
He closed his eyes as he buried his face in your hair, appreciating the moment.
God, he missed you.
You walked backwards, still in his hold as he closed the door behind him skillfully with his foot.
He let go of you slowly, grabbing your face as he searched for answers in your eyes for questions he hadn’t asked yet, but when you looked at him with the same longing facial expression as his, he knew enough.
He inched his face closer to yours, pulling you in for a soft and needy kiss that you yearned for so much. You stabilized yourself by holding on to his wrists as he kissed you with so much passion and hunger, that your mind went foggy. He pulled away slowly. Leaning his forehead against yours as you both try to catch your breath.
“Hi,” you say shyly, smiling up at him.
Your cuteness made him chuckle softly. “Hey,” he replies, letting go of you reluctantly.
You sit down on the bed and pat the spot next to you as a way of telling him to sit there. He complies and you face him, looking into his tired eyes.
You remove a stray piece of hair that was prickling his eyes and sigh.
“Tell me how you’re feeling, honestly,” you say taking a hold of his hand.
He takes a deep breath, knowing he can’t bullshit with you. “I’m not sure,” he confesses.
“It’s like one second I’m fine, and I forget what’s happening and the next I’m sad and angry. I feel bipolar,” he says letting himself fall flat to the bed.
You sigh, scooting closer to him. “That’s perfectly normal. I’m glad you’re still able to feel something given everything you’ve been through.”
He sighs loudly pulling you down with him, so you were situated on his chest. You comply, knowing that he needed you close for comfort, and to be really honest with yourself, you missed the feeling of having him close like this. You stay like that for a while, enjoying each other’s presence in the silence before he decided to break it.
“I’m so fucking sorry y/n,” he says in almost a whisper as he plays with your hair, lost in thought.
You stay silent, getting sad as you think back to your explosive fight. “I should have never slapped you,” you admit choking up. The fact that you did was something you couldn’t get out of your mind nor forgive yourself for. Especially after Soobin told you about his abusive childhood, all you could do was hate yourself for it.
Yeonjun noticed the crack in your voice and sits up immediately with you still in his arms.
“Y/n if I was you, I would have done more than just slapped me in the face, I deserved that. It’s okay,” he says shushing you, caressing your cheek in order to calm you down.
You take a deep breath, blinking away the fluid in your eyes before you start to speak. “No, it’s not. And let’s not sugar-coat it. We were both wrong, and we were both right at the same time. I just don’t understand how we go from paradise to hell in a matter of seconds Yeonjun, it’s what scares me about us.”
He just nods, not being able to counter act your statement because you were right.
The not being able to live with or without each other was a level of toxicity that you swore you’d never fall for. But yet here you are, wrapped up in the arms of the man who basically told you his best friend could have you now that he’s done with you.
You can’t even tell him how many times those words rang through your head like a painful mantra, but that’s the last thing that you want to burden him with right now.
“I forgive you,” you say breaking the silence. “I really do. I know you only said those things to push me away because you’re afraid to let me in, but you’re not the only one that’s scared Yeonjun. So am I. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this way about anyone and that’s just…’
“Scary,” he says, finishing your sentence.
“Yeah..”
Yeonjuns shoulders fell, giving you a kiss on your forehead. “We can figure out what all of this means for us later, but for now I’m just really, really happy you’re here right now.”
You nod in agreement, kissing his jaw affectionately before you wrap your arm around his waist again, and suddenly his mind flashed back to the little altercation between you and his mother.
“I can’t believe you talked back to my mom like that.” He snorts as he pulls you back down again, making himself comfortable with you laying across his chest.
“I’m sorry but it was the fucking hypocrisy that did it for me,” you huff a little annoyed as you think back to the moment.
Yeonjun just chuckles, and you feel his chest vibrate as he does so. “I don’t know. I get what you mean but she’s been trying. I can’t move forward with her if I don’t give her a chance to change but…I don’t trust her yet,” he says lost in thought.
“What don’t you trust her with?”
Yeonjun bit the inside of his cheek, contemplating if he should tell you about the whole ordeal with his dad this afternoon, but since he wanted your opinion on the matter, he decided to tell you.
“I told you guys I went to visit my dad, right?” He says rubbing your back absentmindedly.
You nod, looking up at him. “What happened?”
“He wrote me a letter saying that he’s been keeping tabs on me, and that he wants me to take over the business because he doesn’t’ trust my mom.”
“Wow, wow, wow. What?” you say sitting up again.
“Yeah, that was a very rough summary,” he says propping himself up on his elbows to look at you.
“He kept tabs on you?”
“He had people spy on me. It’s scary baby, he even knew of you.”
Your eyes widen in shock. It’s like you were suddenly involved as a pawn in a very complex game of chess and you didn’t know what to think of it.
“And he wants you to take over Choi Enterprises?”
Yeonjun just nods, looking up at the ceiling.
“Well…are you?”
“It’s never what I wanted. And It’s not like I want to grant his dying wish or anything like that but…”
“But?”
“It is my birthright.”
You blink a couple of times, letting his words register. If Yeonjun was seriously contemplating whether or not to take the position of acting CEO, you were sure he wouldn’t need some lame college degree to back him up. He’d drop out of school; move back to his hometown and you’d never see him again. Selfishly it’s not what you wanted, but it wasn’t about you. It was about him.
“If I just let my mom run the company, I could always roll in if I wanted to, but if I would go behind her back and acquire the position myself, it’d break the little trust we built.”
“What if your mom is just using your good heart to get to that position herself?” You ask thinking out loud.
“You think she’d do that?” Yeonjun says genuinely interested, not offended at all by the assumption. If anything, he was happy to have someone to talk to, so he could look at the situation from multiple perspectives.
“I mean…what do you really know about her?” You ask tracing patterns on his chest with your fingers to keep yourself occupied.
Yeonjun looked at you, biting his lip as he got lost in thought again.
“My dad did mention something in the letter about her, and her quote ‘cunning family’ being after Choi Enterprises, but I don’t know it just…seems like a stretch. My mom knows I don’t have interest in the company.”
You halt your movements, laying back down on his chest as you make yourself comfortable.
He looked down at you lovingly, giving you a quick kiss on your lips when you looked up at him again.
“Maybe ask him about it. I can come with you if you want. First thing in the morning.”
Yeonjun’s brows raised in surprise. “You’d do that?” he asks a little baffled at the fact that you’d voluntarily throw yourself in a lion’s den for him. This wasn’t just like visiting a relative in the hospital, there was so much more at stake that even Yeonjun himself couldn’t fathom right now.
You nod, not having to think twice about it. “Anything for you.”
Tumblr media
The two of you fell asleep like that, wrapped up in each others’ warmth with your arms and legs tangled together. It was the best sleep both of you had gotten in the past couple of days. Though it was a short night, you were well-rested.
At around 8 AM you texted Soobin that Yeonjun and yourself went out to talk to each other in private when in reality you were going to visit the hospital to see Yeonjun’s dad. You were sure everyone was still in deep sleep and that you’d be back before they’d notice, but it felt better to at least let someone know that you left the house together.
The car ride was silent, nerves eating at the both of you as you held hands while he drove. He was nervously biting the inside of his cheek like he always does, and never let go of your hand the whole way.
As you walk through the endless halls of the hospital and pass security to the VIP section; you started to get more intimidated by the level of security present. They let Yeonjun through without a word and you trailed behind him with big eyes as you held onto his hand tightly.
He sighed, turning around to look at you as he stops in front of a massive double door. “Last time I saw him I stormed out in anger. Even when he’s not responsive he makes my blood boil and I honestly don’t want you to see me like that if it happens again.” He confesses as he looks at you seriously.
You sigh, squeezing his hand as reassurance. “I don’t care. I’m not leaving your side.”
Yeonjun nodded, taking a deep breath before he prepared himself as he opened the door to his fathers’ VIP area, but the sight he was welcomed with, was the last one he expected.
You noticed how he froze, and you frowned, standing on your toes to peek over his shoulder but your heart dropped to your stomach as you saw and heard what was going on.
Doctors and nurses were frantically trying to resuscitate Yeonjun’s father.
“CLEAR!”
The loud and continuous beeping of the heart monitor, followed by the charging sounds of the defibrillator was all the confirmation you needed to know that he was flatlining.
Panic was evident, and you knew that despite all the efforts of the doctors, chances were little to nothing that they’d be able to bring him back, given the state he was already in.
Your gasp was noticed by a few nurses and doctors which made one of them groan in disapproval.
“How did they get in here!? No one is allowed inside.” The doctor huffs before he charged the defibrillator again.
“CLEAR!”
Yeonjun watched his father’s body contort as the joules of electricity were charged through his chest, but it was to no avail.
“Sir, I’m going to have to ask you to leave.” One of the nurses says as she blocks the view.
Yeonjun pupils darted from his father to the doctors. He was in pure shock and unable to comprehend was going on before you lightly tugged at his hand.
“Yeonjun,” you say in almost a whisper, trying to snap him out of it as you squeeze his hand.
“I-I’m his son,” Yeonjun says in an attempt to stick around. The same nurse from the day before gave him an apologetic look as she slowly pushed him out the door, while another doctor closed the curtain.
“I’m really sorry Yeonjun, but it’s protocol. You have to wait outside.”
She closed the door behind her and left the two of you completely paralyzed in the halls of the VIP ward.
Yeonjun turned around, leaning his back to the wall as his legs became weak. He slowly crouched down, and the sight broke your heart into a million pieces.
He wasn’t crying, he didn’t even look sad. He was just frozen.
He looked into nothingness as he listened to what was going on inside of the room.
You quickly crouch down with him, not knowing what to do other than hold his hand and caressing his face with your free hand.
He still stared at the wall across from him as you pulled him close, making him rest his face on your shoulder as you whispered sweet nothings to him while he had to listen to what was going on in the other room.
The continuous beeping noise of the heart monitor followed by the sounds of the defibrillator sent chills down your spine as you held him to your best ability.
He didn’t respond to you or react to anything else, and when the noises halted after a minute or so, you knew they called it.
He closed his eyes, suddenly tightening his arms around you as realization struck him.
“Time of death, 8.43 AM.”
Tumblr media
You were seated in the family room of the hospital, handing Yeonjun a plastic cup filled with water.
He snapped out his thoughts and accepted the cup, taking a sip from it while avoiding eye contact with you.
He hadn’t quite looked at you yet. He was continuously staring into the void and it was starting to become scary. You wished he’d just say something, but he wasn’t able to, so you gave him time.
You promised you wouldn’t leave his side, and you were keeping that promise by handling the communication with the nurse, so he didn’t have to. You had called Soobin to tell him what was going on and you were sure they’d all be here in no time.
You sat down across from him, trying to give him some space to gather his thoughts but it was like he wasn’t even in the room with you.
You sigh, taking a sip of your own cup of water and just as you were about to speak, his mother walked in followed by your friends.
She stepped aside as the boys enveloped Yeonjun in a tight hug, while Mia stood beside you, squeezing your shoulder lightly to show support.
Yeonjun sighed into the hug, loosening up a little and his frozen state seemed to vanish.
Again, he wasn’t getting emotional, but he closed his eyes, letting his friends hold him in silence for a while.
The sight made your eyes water a little, but you choked back your tears, not wanting to be the one to start crying when no one else was.
His mother turned her attention to you, and you looked back at her while Mia was protectively standing next to you, still with her hand on your shoulder.
“Thank you for handling the communication with the staff. That must not have been easy, and I apologize for the fact that you had to do that. That should have been me. I’m sorry.”
You were taken aback by her apology and quickly shake your head in response. “No, no, please. Don’t mention it. It’s the least I can do.”
She gave you a simple nod and averted her attention to Yeonjun. He got up from the chair and walked over to his mother, opening up his arms for her.
She hesitated but went for the hug anyway, closing her eyes as she inhaled his scent, letting him hold her for a bit. The physical affection making her tear up.
He rubbed her back, patting her hair.
“It’s ok mom, you don’t have to be afraid anymore.”

Everything happened so incredibly fast that you weren’t even able to process what the hell was going on around you. The Choi family had people for people who worked for those people, which meant that the funeral was basically held within the next day.
Lita made sure that the boys, Mia, and yourself had something appropriate to wear for the ceremony and you were in Yeonjun’s room, dressed and ready just half an hour before the service would start.
You were seated on his bed, watching him fix his tie in the mirror.
He had been super quiet and detached, and you wanted to give him space, but he was adamant about the fact that he wanted you around. He hadn’t shed a single tear and didn’t even really talk about what happened. It was mostly you doing the talking for him.
Having to explain what you saw was rough, and you were worried it’d trigger something inside Yeonjun, but it didn’t. He kept himself composed and strong, and you were curious how long he could keep that façade alive.
You snap back from your thoughts and watch him struggle with tying his tie. A small smile crept upon your lips and you get up from the bed, walking towards him to do it for him.
He looked at you lovingly, holding on to your waist as he watched you tie the knot expertly just like your father taught you.
“What can’t you do?” he asks amused, looking down at you.
You look up at him through your lashes and scoff. “Get you to open up apparently,” you say as you finish up, giving him a soft pat on his chest to let him know you’re all done.
He blinked a couple of times, biting his lip.
“I love you.”
Your eyes snap up to his in shock, making sure you didn’t just imagine that.
“W-what?”
“I love you,” he repeats, giving you a small smile as he fixes a piece of your hair.
“Y-Yeonjun I-” you stutter.
His confession was loud and clear, though it took you some time to process. You had no idea where it was coming from, but as you looked him in the eye; all he showed was confidence and sincerity.
“I think I knew the night of our fight, I wanted you as far away from me as possible to protect you from myself, and my uncle out of all people made me realize that that’s something you do out of love.” He explains making sense of his words.
“I don’t know what love feels like y/n, but when I look at you…the way you handled this whole thing. Sticking by me and supporting me emotionally even though I see you struggle with your own emotions it’s just…” He sighs, organizing his thought before he spoke again.
“I couldn’t put into words, how much I care for you and appreciate you, and that’s when it clicked that there’s a whole ass expression for that feeling,” he says, letting his hands travel to your waist again.
“I love you y/n. So, fucking much that it hurts,” he admits, closing his eyes as he leans his forehead to yours.
You sigh contently, letting your hand travel up to his cheek, softly caressing it before you peck his lips softly.
“I love you too.”
Yeonjun didn’t expect you to say it back to him, but you meant every word you said. His eyes snapped open and a huge boyish grin crept upon his face, his eyes glistening with pleasure as he pulled you towards him roughly, which made you yelp in response.
“You do?” He asks beaming at you.
“Yes Yeonjun, now wipe that grin off your face. We have a funeral to attend,” you say as you playfully roll your eyes.
He snorted, letting go of you reluctantly, stealing a chaste kiss from you before he opened the door to his bedroom.
“After you, my love.”

You were warned beforehand that the funeral would be more like a business event rather than a private family gathering. The ceremony took place in their back yard, so luckily you didn’t have to worry about running late.
The number of people you were introduced to, given the fact that Yeonjun paraded you around like an accessory was overwhelming. The only people that really stuck out to you were his uncle, Namjoon, and his wife Hye-Jin.
They were so happy to meet you that it felt like they already knew you personally.
Yeonjun basically had his game face on the whole night, it was a side to him that you hadn’t seen before and you realized that you missed the carefree, peer pong playing college boy from before.
As Yeonjun was talking to some stockholders, you decided to find your friends again.
“So…you and Yeonjun hyung are officially a thing now?” Taehyun asks as you join their table, completely exhausted from fake smiling to all the people you just met.
“Don’t think I don’t notice how he sneaks into your room every night y/n. Your room is literally right across from mine.” Beomgyu says as he gives you a bitter smile.
You roll your eyes at him as you smack his arm, earning a small yelp from him.
Soobin looked at you expectantly waiting for you to answer Taehyun’s question and you just nodded.
“We worked things through, I’ll tell you the details later but…we haven’t had the boyfriend, girlfriend talk yet.”
“Well, the timing is a little…” Mia starts.
“Yeah, exactly.”
Hueningkai sighs, throwing his head back in annoyance. “What is going on, first Soobin hyung and Mia, then Beomgyu hyung and Ryujin and now Yeonjun hyung and you? Is there something in the air that I don’t know about?”
The group started snickering softly, trying not to be rude given the fact that you were at a funeral.
“Maybe I should just start dating Taehyun.” He says jokingly nudging his friend.
“Actually, I’m kind of talking to someone too,” he says waving off the confused looks of everyone as he smiled at all of you.
“If it’s Yeonjun’s mom, I swear to god.” Beomgyu says.
“Ew, no. What the fuck.”
“Can all of you please behave? Please. Just one night.” Soobin begs as he rubs his forehead, which made Mia chuckle, patting his back in comfort.
Soon after the music stopped. A spokesperson of the family took the stage, telling everyone to take a seat. Yeonjun’s eyes found yours, and he basically told you in sign language that he couldn’t join you guys, as it is expected that he sits at the front with his mother.
The ceremony was simple and short. There were multiple speakers and every once in a while, you checked Yeonjun’s facial expression to see how he was holding up.
You noticed how the same hollowness returned if he didn’t have to act like the perfect son to all the attendees, and it worried you.
After his mother took the stage, shedding a few rehearsed tears, they lowered the casket, and the ceremony was basically over with. Watching his mother put on such an academy award-winning performance, made you realize that apart from you, your friends and the immediate family, no one knew what kind of person Choi Daniel really was.
It made you sick to your stomach that he was being honoured as if he was some type of hero.
A few hours pass before the last guests leave the house. Your group was seated together in the formal living room, and when Yeonjun enters with an exhausted look on his face, all of you fall quiet as you stare at him.
He let himself fall onto the lounge chair and loosened his tie, slouching down in his seat as he threw his head back.
“Are you okay?” Mia asks, being the first to speak up.
“I’m just drained I guess,” Yeonjun says rubbing his temples.
“Well, we are leaving tomorrow, so we can go back to our normal lives asap. I feel like I’ve walked into some K-drama.” Taehyun retorts as he sits down as well.
Yeonjun lifts his head, biting his lip as he looks at the group of people he cares about the most. “Right, about that…”
His eyes find yours and you can already see that he’s sorry about something.
You cock your head to the side, waiting for him to continue, and then he sighs.
“I’m not coming back with you guys,” he says apologetically. “At least…not for a while. I can’t just leave my mom in the midst of all of this. There's so much more that needs to be taken care of…”
Your heart sank a little, but it was understandable for him to stick around longer.
Mia narrowed her eyes at Yeonjuns words, and the guys just hummed understandingly.
“How long will you be gone for then?” Hueningkai asks.
“Till the end of Summer I think,” Yeonjun replies, his eyes finding yours.
You understood the circumstances, but you were shocked, to say the least. Even though you’ve been together non-stop since the incident, he hadn’t talked to you about it.
He gave you a sad look when you avoided his gaze, which Mia noticed as she looked at you two.
Yeonjun decided he had enough of the gloomy atmosphere and decided to crack open his fathers’ expensive collection of aged wines and scotches.
Since they were at home, he let the minors indulge a little too. Everyone was letting loose a little. The old playful group dynamic returned slowly but you were still lost in thought about Yeonjun’s decision to stay behind.
He noticed how you sat far away from him and sighed. He walked towards you. Asking you to come with him to the kitchen and you agreed. Feeling that it was best to talk about this before you make matters worse by overthinking.
You took a seat at the breakfast bar, waiting for him to start talking, but he just looked at you with concern.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you,” he says.
“I was just…speaking to so many people today and I realized I can’t just pretend that this part of my life doesn’t exist anymore. Especially now that he’s gone.”
“Yeonjun, I’m not mad. I just…don't get why you would tell me you love me when you knew that you weren’t going to come back with us," you say as you play with your fingers
His eyes widened and he got closer to you. Taking a hold of your hands after he made you look up at him by tugging at your chin.
“Hey, It’s just a few weeks. Nothing will change the way I feel about you; I promise. I just need time to unravel all of these family secrets. I never got to ask him why he didn’t trust my mother and after today I just…I have to figure it out.”
You nod, understanding completely. Somehow you wanted him to ask you to stay here with him for the rest of summer, but the fact that he didn’t was all that you needed to know.
“Don’t be sad okay, we’ll stay in contact,” he says as he caresses your cheek.
You nod and lean into his touch which made him smile. He inched his face closer to kiss you softly.
You didn’t know what, but something was off about him. He looked at you with affection but at the same time, his eyes were hollow, almost soulless.
A small knock on the wall snaps both of you back to reality, your heads snap back to see Mia in the doorway looking at you both seriously.
“Y/n, Soobin needs your help with something.” She says as she gives you a small smile.
You frown, and so does Yeonjun, but you decide to go see for yourself, not thinking much of it.
“Alright then?” you say as you get up from the barstool, walking towards the formal living room.
Mia’s gaze followed you out the door, and before Yeonjun could walk back to the living room with you. She stops him.
“You’re not coming back are you?” She asks, looking him in the eye sternly.
Well, fuck.
Yeonjun sighs. He should have known. Mia sees through anyone’s bullshit; and given how protective she is of y/n. He knew he had to tell her the truth before she beat it out of him.
“I’m not sure yet,” he admits, avoiding eye contact with her.
Mia’s shoulder fell, her eyes getting sad. It was just an assumption she had, but she didn’t expect him to tell her the truth this easily.
“Yeonjun…you can’t do that to her.”
“Don’t you think I don’t know that?” he says raising his voice a little. He glanced through the hall at the group, making sure you didn’t hear him before his gaze returned to Mia.
She stared back at him in disbelief, waiting for him to explain himself.
“I just…I need time. I can’t be what she deserves the way I am now. It could take weeks, months, maybe even years but you have to believe me that I’m doing it for her,” he says trying to make Mia understand.
“If there was another way, I’d do it, but after today my world turned dangerous. There are too many people after the company. Money makes people do crazy things and I don’t want her anywhere near it. Y/n has to be protected at all costs. I have to handle this on my own.”
Mia exhaled loudly, trying to gather her thoughts as her hand lands on her forehead.
“I love her more than anyone Mia. I do. You have to believe that I’m doing this in her best interest.”
Mia just shakes her head, swallowing harshly before she makes eye contact again.
“What about the guys.”
“They have each other, and y/n has you. You have to promise me you’ll be there for her.”
“Yeonjun...I-”
“Promise me.”
Mia sighs, defeated in a game she never even played. She closes her eyes, nodding at his request.
"Ok, I promise.”
