A surprise birthday party awaited Malaysia when she arrived home from her 18th birthday weekend. It was so important to Mal that he even returned home from his tour to be there.

18th Birthday Weekend (Night On The Town) - Day 1

Later that night, Andrei and Malaysia headed into town for some fun after a much-needed nap in their hotel room.

This was an exciting night for them. In addition to karaoke and dancing, they also got matching tattoos (Malaysia’s first). It was certainly a night to remember. And to think, this is only Day one.

This is the first stop on Malaysia‘s birthday tour. Andrei took her for a picnic on the beach. Drei made sure to bring along Malaysia’s favorite snacks for their picnic date. The sun is shining and they are enjoying the sand and each other.

Our hotel was really cute, and it was not too far from the beach. We have a view of the ocean from our room. You can walk there in a few minutes.

As soon as we reached our room, Drei left to "look into something". He returned with a cooler and basket. Next, he says, "get changed, we're having a picnic by the water".

18th Birthday Weekend (Going Home) - Day 3

Today is the final day of our vacation. I still can’t believe I’m 18 now. This weekend has been full of surprises and a lot of fun. We’re having lunch on the beach before flying back home to Willow Creek.

Andrei seems fine, which surprised me. Although I was expecting a cold shoulder, he has been even more affectionate and protective. Throughout the day, he has said "I love you" multiple times and I have responded with kisses each time. I feel terrible, but I still don't know how to feel. It's not something I want to say just for the sake of saying it.

18th Birthday Weekend (Big Surprise) - Day 2

[Malaysia’s Inner-thoughts]

All my birthdays have been pretty much the same. We’d have family over, we ate, laughed, and danced. This birthday was extra special especially spending with my boo Drei.

“I got one more gift for you” Andrei said with a shaky voice.

Malaysia gasp. It was a ring. This can’t be what she thinks it is. Right?

Drei saw the fear in her face and he quickly reassured her.

“Relax..relax…it’s a promise ring. I guess it’s good to know you’re not ready for marriage” he says while laughing.

[Malaysia’s Inner-thoughts]

I felt like I was in a dream. I was so nervous, but I also felt so excited once he told me what the ring was.

Drei went into this speech about how much he cares for me and how afraid he is of losing me and the distance and then he uttered those three words.

“... I don’t know what the future holds for us but I want you to know, I promise to stay committed to you and this relationship. You mean a lot to me and…and… I love you, Malaysia.

[Malaysia Inner-thoughts]

He told me he loved me and I didn’t say it back. I didn't know how to feel about him saying those words to me. So I kissed him and accepted the ring.

Drei doesn't seem bothered by the fact that I didn't respond. Eventually, we will have to discuss it, but I just want to enjoy the rest of the night. Hopefully, things won't be awkward in the morning.

Drei managed to get his hands on tickets to Tartosa‘s summer music and arts festival. Being that Malaysia has a passion for art and adoration for music, Andrei thought this would be a perfect place to spend her birthday.

The festival was a big success. The bands were great and the crowd was lively. The only downside was that the heat was treacherous. Other than that they had a great time talking and eating and dancing and singing.

Summer Vacation

Willow Creek

This summer has been nothing like I thought it would be. Andrei and I’s romantic summer vacation turn into a complete headache. If I’m being honest, there hasn’t been much romance at all. Especially since Andrei and I spent most of it apart. While I tried lightning the load at home, Drei’s father made sure his summer didn’t go to waste with football training. Seems like the only time we get together is when we’re working. With Daddy‘s new studio opening at the end of year, he hired Drei and myself to do some scouting at the local karaoke spots Andrei frequents. At the end of the tour, daddy’s holding a competition with the winner receiving a recording contract. Becoming the first artist on his label. As the summer dwindle down, I really wished Andrei and I had more personal time together. He’s leaving in two weeks for Fall camp. It doesn’t seem real to me yet but he’s been down about it lately. My birthday is coming so I can’t wait to have that alone time.. Drei said he’s planned something special for me. I’m hoping we can make these final weeks the best ever.

Two weeks later...

[Malaysia Thinking]

So much responsibility was thrown on me, and we’re only two weeks into summer vacation. From helping Uncle Frank to looking after my sisters while Daddy and Trinity are out of town. Surprisingly enough, I’m enjoying it. Having Drei with me all day every day has improved our relationship. Seeing him interact with my sisters and just how good he is with them makes me hopeful for the relationship he could build with Ben. He wants to spend more time with Ben, but I’m not ready for them to get close. Especially with how uncertain our future is. I can say I feel closer to Drei these past couple of weeks more than ever.
