The chilling adventures of Sabrina could’ve been a 10/10 show.
It was dark, campy and creative.
It tackled sexuality, gender identity, sexism, homophobia and transphobia, and to top it off most of the main characters were actually interesting.
Even the mortal storylines at Baxter high were just as engaging as the storylines at The academy of unseen arts… where they studied actual magic and the occult.
And while there were a few small issues that presented themselves in the later parts of the series
the one constant irritation for me throughout all four parts was the entitled, immature, narcissistic, privileged, hypocritical self centered white savior of a main character…

Why are teens climbing into bedroom windows?
A video essay I made on the trope of teens climbing into bedroom windows in film and tv! Here’s the hyperlink! While I think there can be positives to the trope, in this video essay, I discuss how the trope can perpetuate some problematic myths about romance and consent.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. REWRITE IDEAS:
Lilith doesn’t kill Ms. Wardwell. She puts her into an eternal sleep and wakes her up at the end of Part 2.
The Weird Sisters are more flashed out and their individual personalities are more empathized and they all have individual hobbies and interests. Prudence likes to read and expand her horizon, Agatha likes to dance and starts to get interested in being a DJ, Dorcas is artistic and loves to do creative projects.
When Sabrina goes full time to the Academy, she interacts with other witches aside from Nick and the weird sisters.
Only the Weird Sisters wear these dark dresses with lace collars. The other witches wear outfits based on the time periods of their 16th birthdays. Witches who turned 16 in the 80s wear 80s based outfits, those who were 16 in the 90s wear 90s outfits etc.
Sabrina actually explains to Harvey how the Witch World works and she also explains to Nick how the Mortal World works.
There are more interactions between Sabrina’s mortal friends and her witch friends.
We will see the familiars of Faustus, Constance, Prudence, Agatha, Dorcas, Melvin and Elspeth.
We actually get to see Zelda bringing new witches, including Heather into the coven.
After the Church of Night becomes the Order of Hecate. The witches start to pursue their personal hobbies and interests.
Mambo Marie doesn’t go to the Underworld.
Prudence uses Nagaina’s Head in order to get rid of Blackwood, because Petrification does not mean that someone is dead.

Okay, so I am on the second season ninth episode of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and my biggest gripe right now IS THAT THERE IS NO FRIENDSHIP
I mean, yeah, there is but it isn't really great:///
Harvy moved on from Sabrina to Rose in a span of a month, Rose, who in the first season didn't show any signs that she felt something towards Harvy, is suddenly into him. Theo is my literal mood every time Harvy and Rose kiss
I am not against romance and I am not against HarvyxRose, but dammit I feel like it just takes all attention from the relationships between characters. I want genuine friendship between those people, not some half-broken love triangle
Let me see a scene where Harvey, Rose and Theo are talking about Sabrina being a witch, let me see a scene where Rose and Theo help Harvey to come up with terms of what happened. Let me see them wanting to be friends with Sabrina, but letting her know that the way she acted at the beginning of the second season (while being completely understandable) still hurt them. Let them all talk about it, give them all individual moments between al of them and only then start involving them in all of witch stuff.
The romance here is completely out of place and the show would have been better If they all stayed friends. Maybe give some hints at the end of second season that Harvey and Rose start feeling something toward each other and that Sabrina is falling for Nick, but let it come gradually and not so sudden
Anyway. I heard, that Theo will get a boyfriend in the third season, so here is my hope that at least his romance is going to be better

"hurt and grieve but don't suffer alone // engage with the pain as a motive"
Title is from "Achilles Come Down" by Gang of Youths
Info: Theo Putnam & Trans!Reader, to pronouns for reader other than you, pre/during season one, before Theo comes out to his friends, the reader is critical of religion in their narration so if that's a trigger, skip this please!
Note: For the first part of this fic, the reader uses they/them pronouns for Theo, not certain what pronouns they'd prefer.
Summary: You couldn't give two fucks about the shitty kids at Baxter High, but you can tell that you being out is giving someone more confidence in themselves. And that's why you deal with these shitheads.
Upstate New York wasn't what you imagined with your parents said that your dad was moving to New York for work. You could be forgiven if you thought that you'd be in the Big Apple, where people with some actually decent worldviews and basic fucking respect existed.
But, you couldn't have been that lucky, could you? Because the small town of Greendale needed a new doctor and your father could open up his own private practice with a whole town of new customers.
Honestly, how this town had a prominent mortuary, but not a doctor freaked you out, but you wouldn't say anything about it, because who knows what those Spellmans are up to.
But, you settled in decently. Classes weren't difficult and getting around was easy, with everything practically being within either walking or biking distance—something you'd taken up getting around your old town, as public transit was abysmal and here it's nonexistent.
Assholes were assholes and cliques were formed, but not like stereotypical high school television would proclaim. There wasn't a bitchy female at the top, ruling everything. Everything seemed to span from the ire of the misogynistic, football team and their backwards, Judeo-Christian values.
Honestly, you couldn't understand it. The fucking egos on these guys were astounding, truly.
But, you noticed something in between the constant jabs and minor pushing around from the guys bigger than you. That the kid from your English class with the curly hair kept staring at you.
You didn't think it was malicious, but it was persistent. They sat a bit behind you, next to two girls: one of which was the preacher's daughter and the other came from the mortuary family you were going to stay away from.
But, they looked harmless. Curious, in fact. Like they'd never seen someone like you, like them. Like they'd never seen someone who's undeniably trans.
You weren't certain they were trans, but if gaydar was a real thing, yours would be on full alert.
And so, when you were able to catch them staring all by their lonesome, you slipped away from the meatheads and their closemindedness towards them.
"Hey, you're in my English class, aren't you?" You appear in front of them in a blink of an eye, "With Ms. Wardwell, right?"
"Oh, uh... yeah. I am." They stammer, "You find it alright."
"It's not that difficult. Similar stuff I was doing at my old school."
"Where are you from?"
You tell them, trying to hide the disgust of this place and the fact that you really miss home.
"I can't for the life of me remember your name and I'm so sorry about that! Can you tell me?" Even if your reasoning was different, you truly couldn't remember their name, as Ms. Wardwell tends to take silent attendance.
They sigh, "Susie. Susie Putnam."
"You sure about that?" They choke on the air caught in their throat and you continue, "I mean, Y/N wasn't always my name. My parents helped it get it changed. So... are you sure that's your name."
"I don't know what I want to change it to." They admit, "but Susie hurts to hear."
"I get it." You put a hand on their shoulder, "Sometimes you gotta grin and bare it, but hey, when you pick one out, tell me."
"You get it?" They said, "You understand what I'm going through?"
"Oh yeah." You offer a laugh to break the tension, "These people are assholes, but your friends seem to be decent enough. And if they fucking suck like these dickheads, then you can hang with me, alright."
"And if my friends don't suck?" They ask, "Can I still hand out with you?"
You fish out a spare piece of paper and write your number down with a smirk, "I think that's fine as well."

Group Four Round One
Tumblr media
Character info from submissions under the cut
Theo Putnam (Headcanon) Theo is a ftm trans friend of Sabrina who gains courage to transition while also dealing with all the magic going on in the show. headcanon: Their family is a very used to be mormon, were pioneers, type characters, and now that all their family is inactive/exmormon, Theo is like 1-2 generations removed from mormon ancestors, but the whole attitude is "yeah my family is culturally mormon, but nobody does anything like that anymore."
Orel Puppington (Headcanon) Orel is a plucky young boy with a heart of gold, however he's very gullible and takes everything way too literally. He's raised in a small protestant Christian town and (almost) all the adults are horrible people who keep contradicting themselves when it comes to religion. The story revolves around his disillusionment with the authority figures around him and developing a stronger belief in God through exploring other religious practices and what it really means to be a good Christian (being kind and open-minded to others as well as yourself.) He's pretty much one of the best missionaries you could ask for (or at least, he's working on it!) He's kind, eager, curious, and constantly trying his best (for better or for worse.) Over the course of the story his naivety slowly becomes open-mindedness, despite the authority figures constantly misguiding him. One of his closest friends (and trusted adults) is an atheist tattoo and piercing artist and there's even a time where he gives a sermon to his own pastor that is better than any sermon the pastor gave. I just feel like he would really dig the LDS faith once he starts exploring those things later in his life.

Theo Putnam + trans:
Theo cleared his throat. "What do you say when people ask if you're ashamed of your...daughter?"
His dad said, "I tell them I'm real proud of my boy."
Tumblr media
"He always pauses before he says son," said the bird on Theo's left shoulder.
"And he always says it," said Theo, and shut the door firmly.
Tumblr media
"I know you are harassed by lackwits groveling in their own ignorance for not fitting into the narrow boxes that are all their narrow minds can imagine."
Theo blinked. "You've got a real way with words."
"Two thousand years ago, people recognized six genders, but I suppose those imbecile children can't count to six. There are witches who want to fit people into narrow boxes as well." Zelda's mouth was a thin furious line for a moment... "Never be confined by other people's expectations."
