Welcome back to our regularly scheduled programming of 'this Stray track sounds like Rain Code:' Sad Edition!

This is the ending section of the track 'Slums,' which emotionally destroys me every time I hear it. And by combining my brainrot, I made its personal meaning to me even more heartbreaking. The howling synths echo like the cries of lost, wandering souls. Like a bittersweet reunion with a ghost you never thought you'd see again. These synthetic wails remind me of Vivia and Yuma overhearing the voice of Yakou's soul reaching out to them. If Yakou really had died right then, I can envision his spirit walking up to the two phantom detectives with a heartbroken glint in his eyes, finding it hard to face them. The duo embrace their chief as they whimper their apologies for not saving him in time. Silvery, translucent forms meld into one another, never wanting to let go. Yakou can't tell them of what he'd done, but he still hugs them tightly to reassure them that they'll learn the truth soon enough. He believes in them and their ability to lay his soul to rest.

To add more salt to the wound, I put the song over Yakou's beloved quote.

Truth Seekers! (The Promised Neverland)

Heyo everyone! This is a bit of a spontaneous dabble, but I wanted to make a gift for the wonderful @intheticklecloset! Thank you so much for your support friend! :D I platonically love you too!

I decided to go with The Promised Neverland for this one! It's been a hot minute since I've watched the anime (Sorry for any OOCness with the trio!), but writing for these three was so much fun! I hope you like it! :D

Summary: Ray loves his friends but won't admit to it. Emma and Norman decide to make him admit it!

“Ray! Come play with us!” Emma flopped into the grass before the lounging boy, pouting. A few paces behind her, Norman stood by with a gentle smile, playing with the ends of his sleeve. “You’ve been sitting here alone all day! That seems pretty lonely, no?”

“Maybe for you, but I’m enjoying the solitude.” Ray stretched out his legs, tucking his arms behind his head with a small smirk. “It’s nice and quiet. Well, at least it was earlier.”

Emma shoved his knee, unable to hold onto her pout when Ray nudged her back. “Meanie!”

“Please, that’s all you got to say back? ‘Meanie?’” Ray grinned, making Emma grin back.

“Still- it does seem rather lonely being over here by yourself. Mind if we join you?” Norman asked, already taking a seat to Ray’s open right. Emma scooted closer, kicking her legs happily behind her as she rested her head in her arms.

“You're already here. Why bother asking?” Ray rolled his eyes, turning back to his book. Despite his words, he was rather happy his friends were here. He loved the kids in the orphanage, but they could be a bit overwhelming. With Norman and Emma, he felt at peace.

“Pfft- someone’s moody today.” Norman laughed as he reached out, gently poking Ray’s side. “It’s almost like you don’t want us here!”

“Yeah, Ray!” Emma reached out and did the same thing. “Tell us how you really feel!”

The brunette nearly jumped out of his skin at the sudden pokes, hands clutching his book tightly as he fought the urge to laugh. “I already d-did! You two are annoying, now stop it!”

“What- annoying?” Emma mock gasped, sharing a look with Norman as her poking increased in speed. “Can you believe that, Norman? He called us annoying!”

“How cruel! You were right earlier, Emma! Ray is a meanie!” He giggled in his hand as his fingers walked up Ray’s side, pressing gently into the spot below his ribs. Pressing a little firmer, he finally got a gasp and a giggle from the stubborn boy. “Say your sorry!”

“Pfft-No-Nohoho way!” Ray snickered out, dropping his book as he tried to curl his arms around himself. Squirming this way and that, he couldn’t get away from the relentless pokes and prods to his torso. “Yohoohohhu twooohohohoho neehehehheed to ahhhahahcept the truhuhuhuhuth!”

“Oh? The truth huh?” Emma sat up properly now, briefly pausing her tickle attack so she could lean over Ray. After a few short whispers to her friend, the pair were back at it with the tickles. “We’ve decided you're not telling the truth. Tell us, Ray- are we really annoying?”

“Don’t lie to us, Ray! We’ll know!” Norman grinned.

“AHehahahhahahahahhahhaha! Iiiihihiiihihihim noohohohohohoohot lihihiihihihyin-EHHEHHEHEHE!” The brunette squealed when Emma grabbed his knees, squeezing gently and making him kick his legs. Norman took this opportunity to reach out and gently tickle his belly- another spot that guaranteed a good reaction from their friend. “EHEHHEHEHEEMA, NOHOHOHOHORMAN STAHHAHAHHAHAP!”

The pair paused briefly, waiting as Ray recovered. “Are we annoying?”

“Yehehehs!” Ray giggled out. The tickling began once more- this time on lesser ticklish spots. “Ahehahahahhahahhaha!

They paused again. “Still annoying?”

“Whahahat do you thihihin-AHEHHAHAHAHHA!”

This went on for several seconds before finally- Ray broke.

“Ohoohohhoohkay! Ohohohohohkay I lihihihihiihed!” He squealed out, cheeks flushed an adorable shade of pink and hair a mess. His friends pulled back once more, waiting with expectant smiles. “Yohoohur not…ehehhee..annhoohooying.”

“You love us?” Emma giggled.

“As much as I love the rest of the kids.”

“Truly?” Norman teased.

“Truly.” Ray rolled his eyes, unable to fight down the flush touching his ears. Emma and Norman cheered above him, happy with the outcome.

Ray huffed out a laugh, stretching back out into the grass as he slowly recovered. From either side of him, he felt his friends cuddle up, Emma’s head on his shoulder and Norman’s leg crossing over his own. Together the three watched the clouds roll by until it was time to go back in.

He really did love them.

I feel like I liked yakuza 5 a lot more than most people for some reason

#like a lot of people seem to not like it or think it’s mid #idk man but it was one of the games I enjoyed most and I really liked the range of characters you get to play #love me a murder mystery too #idk I think people seem to not like how disjointed the plot is at first and trying to keep up with everyone’s seperate plot and characters #and etc. but I personally really liked how it was all disjointed and the further you get into the game / the more characters you play the #more shit starts coming together and forming a full picture #like don’t get me wrong it’s not perfect and I do have qualms with some. choices. (mostly having to do with majima and #mirei) but overall it’s one of the games I’ve enjoyed the most and that’s kept me interested in the plot the most #fantastic to get a more in-depth look at haruka and to get to really know her by playing her and seeing how she interacts with people and #choices she makes and etc. I don’t think she was a fully fleshed out character prior to that #loved her with all my heart already don’t get me wrong but she just didn’t have much time on screen especially as a teenager to fully get #her personality across and some of the issues she deals with (mommy issues. abandonment issues #etc). #and her and uncle akiyama are a very nice unexpected duo!!! #the different settings were fun too. overall I think the whole thing just felt like more of a streamlined story in a way with drastically #different viewpoints depending on the character #also shinada’s a gift. bless him #daigo feels three dimensional and emotionally present in a way I didn’t see much in other games- even when he’s literally a boss in 4. tbh #the only other time I think he feels really solid as a character is in fuckin dead souls. I think it’s cause it’s SO rare to see daigo in #non-serious situations or vulnerable with people on purpose. dead souls has the first thing and y5 has a bit of both #and I could complain more about how y6 SHOULD have made daigo more present instead of sending him to fuckin jail the whole time but. I do #get that that was kind of important to the plot. I mean to have that power vacuum. don’t think all three of them should’ve been put in jail #but I digress. anyway I got off topic point is I enjoyed yakuza 5 it is very unique in my opinion #y5 #rambling #ALL THESE TAGS AND I FORGOT TO MENTION KIRYU BEING ANGSTY AND GAY AS HELL. hii it's been awhile since i've given any updates about what's going on with me but!!! i think we're moving back to oregon at some point. and i'm gonna make grad school happen. i'm so yhappy

#i'm going to oregon sometime this quarter but it's gonna break my heart because i have to leave again #idk the col is so much higher there than here. you can buy a whole three bedroom house for $200k here #a 3 bed in oregon is at least twice that #and rent is insane. $1100 for a beautiful 3 bed here. or twice that for something less nice in oregon #well. not HERE here jesus the suburbs are expensive. but in central pa where we're thinking of moving #which is like.... the best place to retire in the country? what's with that. low col probably LOL #and lately i've been feeling so..... lost? the ego death i went through in 2023 was incredible #and like. do i NEED to go to grad school to get a well-paying job in my field? no i have almost 7 yoe #but i'm missing feeling good at something. and the networking. and the portfolio work i can do. so it wouldn't be about employablility #though that helps. idk i'm gonna try to get my undergrad loans paid off as much as i can (only 30k left on the ones in my name 🫠) this year #while working on freelance projects and all that. it just feels good having a direction that doesn't feel completely hopeless #because it's been so bleak lately. like. got laid off from an agency i poured my soul into (not doing that again unless it's my own) #experienced something deeply personal and destabilizing i don't feel comfortable sharing #moved across the country while i didn't have a job and was processing that trauma to a place where i know no one #i got so lonely and so alone that i thought i would die. i didn't really have anyone to turn to while i did the work of reliving #started drinking a lot to cope bc i didn't have a medical card. was truly miserable. got a medical card. wasn't miserable anymore #and now i'm working and less anxious and feeling supported and stable in my relationship. and i feel myself coming back to myself. #it's been so hard but i'm so glad to be seeing the end of it. and to see good things and happy things in that

one of the ones with a more even focus on everyone. id actually say it's about bruce. feels are good tho, and jason does get a hug. the bat boys get sent back in time and find a bruce that just started being batman standing in front of his parents' graves and wondering if he should stop being batman to find happiness in marriage. the boys unanimously decide to convince bruce to give up the bat so he can be happy, even though it majorly risks their own futures (and in dami's case, his actual life).

this is kind of fantasy realism? and this is another fic that focuses more evenly on everyone. bruce keeps finding these kids that arent really human, adopting them and giving them a childhood (and family!) anyways. it's sweet and my favourite thing about it is that the boys all pass around bruce's gotham knights sweater for comfort clothing. also there's a part where john constantine is like "h o w do you keep finding them?!?!" it's good lol. ah and i just love when stories explore what it means to be human.

this is a dick pov fic that goes through the aftermath of a time loop only jason remembers. it's not often you get to read about the after effects instead of the time loop itself, which i thought was cool, and it goes into the way jason and his relationship to the family has changed bc of this thing only he remembers. focuses most heavily on dick & jay.
