i'm crying laughing about genkai kenpachi but also i am now dying to know if any other characters of yuyu hakusho fame managed to sneak their way into aeiwam, even if only in the worldbuilding
Yusuke Urameshi has for real burnt through his psychic abilites no for real not even a tingle in his fingers he swears, but he does run the late-night Curry shop the Karakura Kids sometimes end up at. Keigo and Mizuiro spend the most time there, and the craic is terrific, but he's got a soft spot for that Ichigo kid who comes in sometimes, late at night when he's been out chasing ghosts or had another fight with his dad. He reminds Yusuke of Hiei in a way- Ichigo swaggers and growls like a delinquent, but nothing pisses him off quite like bullies who pick on people who can't fight back.
Ichigo likes him too- He can tell that Urameshi guy all about the weird ghosts and fucked up monsters and how ANGRY he gets with his father sometimes, and the guy just nods and sometimes has good advice about where to lose his pursuers if he's being chased, or odd places where lost spirits end up. Urameshi grew up constantly getting in fights and seeing shit he shouldn't too, and always gives him free drinks.
They like each other well enough, but aren't much more than acquaintances.
Kazuma Kuwabara is one of the interns on the verge of becoming a resident at Karakura Hospital, NO, He's NOT going to be replacement Spirit Detective, I'M A DOCTOR, but sometimes he does hang out in the cafeteria with the kid of his attending physician- Uryuu reminds him of Kurama- intelligent, articulate, a bit of a prettyboy and Kuwabara is sure that the kid is secretly armed. He's easy to get along with- Kuwabara just asks him what he's working one, and then shuts up so he can learn something new.
Uryuu hates waiting in the hospital for his dad to get off shift to drive him home. His father's inner ear has been damaged when he lost his Quincy powers and he was still prone to sudden-onset vertigo, it's not severe enough to get fired from the hospital, but enough that the DMV won't issue him a driver's license, and so most days Uryuu drives him to and from work. But sometimes Kazuma is in the cafeteria, and he's going to make a terrific pediatrician or emergency room doctor someday. The big guy always manages to be in a cheerful and contagious mood, and actually listens to him. Uryuu estimates that Dr. Kuwabara has a better knowledge of what he's been studying, who his friends are, his latest fashion designs and his life in general than his actual father does.
They like each other well enough, but aren't much more than acquaintances.

so we've all gone insane over the fact that "i'll be your mirror" is pretty much canonically crowley's favorite song right (next to "pale blue eyes", which. Neil you are not slick and i love it). because.
i mean.
are you gonna sit here and tell me that when this man-shaped-being listens to this song, he DOESN'T imagine the singer as aziraphale? he wishes aziraphale would grab him ever so gently and say those things to him??
like????
When you think the night has seen your mind
That inside you're twisted and unkind
Let me stand to show that you are blind
Please put down your hands
'Cause I see you
and also :
I find it hard to believe you don't know
The beauty you are
But if you don't, let me be your eyes
A hand to your darkness so you won't be afraid
... anyways let them retire. Please. let them retire to that nice south downs cottage with a garden and a big library inside and let them exist peacefully. let that be their alpha centauri.

Vox had spent their entire life on the run and doing whatever it took to survive, no matter how questionable. They took life without hesitation and stole as easily as they breathed. All the while, they wondered what—if anything—would be truly worth dying for. They had heard so many proclamations of young lovers in which they expressed their devotion by declaring that they would die for their love if it came to it. Vox didn't truly know what that meant, they had never known a love that strong and assumed that these were simply occurrences of grandstanding.
It wasn't until they began their courtship with Dumaon that they understood the sentiment. He was witty, and charming, and so incredibly kind; he was certainly worth protecting, even if it cost them their life.
When Vox was discovered by those who wanted them dead, they knew that they could not let Dumaon become a casualty for associating with them, no matter the cost. No matter how much it hurt them to leave, they fled from him so that he may be safe.
When their paths crossed again 6 years later, Vox began to regret their choices. The man that they loved more than they loved life itself had gone through so much pain because of them, and they dearly wished they could change their past to spare him.
It took Dumaon begging them to be less careless with their life for them to realize that there might be more to love than a willingness to die. Dumaon spoke of a life together after they had survived the danger and Vox was struck with the realization of how desperately they wanted to experience it.
Certainly, they were still willing to die if that were what it took to keep Dumaon safe. But even more than that, they wanted to live beside him and to be the reason for his smiles and laughs.
They found something to die for, but in doing so they found something to live for as well.

Would you love me if I were a worm?
Rengoku Kyojuro x GN! Reader
He survived but at what cost?

Masterlist | Rebuilding the ruins of castle Me masterlist
AN: Written as a Christmas gift for dear @glitchtricks94 - Merry Christmas!
I contemplated renaming it Kintsugi (hence the header) but I like this title more.
“Uma- ouch-” Kyojuro forgot, for the nth time, that he was still recovering from having a hole in his abdomen; shouting was a long way away from happening for him yet. Instead of ‘admitting defeat’, he whispered a strained “Umai…” before taking another dango into his mouth, chewing and enjoying the taste as he tried to focus on the sweetness of the treat rather than the bitterness of his wound.
It was a peaceful afternoon, the sun shone brightly, and the boys were training in his backyard while he enjoyed tea and a snack you had made for him.
You, his love…
All throughout your relationship, you had asked him, half joking, if he would love you were you to become a worm. The question greatly confused him every time, even stunned him speechless the first, but he had always answered a resolute yes.
What he failed to do was ask you the same.
Even so, each day he woke up now, feeling like a worm, a useless bug, and each day you took care of him - you built your home to suit his needs, helped him bathe, cooked for him, entertained him - when he had nothing to give you back. He had become someone you didn’t ask for, someone you didn’t ‘sign up’ to love.
Kyojuro had never asked the question, but your response was an infallible yes - all the more, you showed it, your actions proved it.
He had never fallen so deep for someone in his life, being near you made him happy, though there was always a lingering inner torment fraying him at the edges…
Underneath his carefully crafted facade, you knew he wasn’t fine. Kyojuro survived, at a great cost - an eye, and his career, his youth, his strength.
He used to smile even in his sleep; the usually peaceful expression had been replaced by a frown or a frighteningly borderline angry expression. He also couldn’t spoon you, not yet, which agonized him more than he could admit. He missed cuddling you, you could see that every time you went to bed.
You were aware he was always in pain, though he said nothing, so you quietly placed painkillers alongside his tea and dango today. Kyojuro couldn’t be more grateful you were in his life.
“The dango is delicious, my love,” he whispered to you as you finally sat down beside him. Tanjiro’s soft laughter echoed in the yard, Zenitsu’s crying and Inosuke’s howling a complementary melody adding to the usual chaos of your home. Something like peace settled in his chest.
“I’m glad. Don’t forget to drink the tea, it’s already cold.” You smiled at him as he reached for his cup. Kyojuro seemed to do so absent-mindedly, it was kind of endearing to see him trust you so much he gave no thought to your instructions.
Wooden clack clack became a distant rhythm while you both soaked in the warmth of the sun - the very same one which signaled the end of his last dance with the devil.
Become a demon, Kyojuro.
His scars throbbed in dull pain, his teeth clenched, an irrational panic set in, and he could not help but seek out everyone around him with his eye to make sure-
The boys were at it again, a goofy ball of energy rolling all over the training space, sweat making dirt stick to their skin. Tanjiro, alive. Zenitsu, alive. Inosuke, alive.
And you-
You were looking at him calmly; his feelings wild, all over the place but then Kyojuro looked in your eyes. He saw everything he thought he had lost, he felt as if you two were the only ones in your home.
Would you love him if he were a worm?
Yes. Yes, you do.
