As you stare breathlessly up into the dark you wonder briefly if you are awake, or if this too is a dream. Above you, the gems embedded in the distant cavern roof wink like stars. The greedy sound of your lover between your legs brings you crashing back down into your body, his thick, calloused fingers digging into the meat of your hips.
“Watch, dóron mou,” Thor mumbles against you, dragging his wide, flat tongue through your slick folds. He repeats himself firmly. “Watch.” His massive palms span almost the length of your thighs, and he kneads them possessively, cutting his eyes at you from between your legs.
You force yourself to focus on him, dragging your bleary, tear filled eyes down to his.As a reward, Thor rolls your swollen, overstimulated nub between his teeth. You squeal in response, bucking agains his face.
“Good.”
One hand scrabbles for purchase on the stone ledge beneath you, the other sinking into his soft blond hair. You rock against him, unable to help yourself as he chuckles.
“My greedy little present,” he hums, and you feel his lips curve as he laps again at your clit. “Greedy…” he trails off as you whine, your thighs tighten around his head. You card your fingers through his sandy hair, gripping his horns with both hands as you rock against his face.
Slowly, he lowers you back down to the ledge, cradling you like a doll against his massive chest. He dwarfs you easily, looming over your limp body as he inspects the sticky mess between your thighs.
You twitch and mewl when he drags his fingers through your sloppy cunt, and he hums softly, a smile curling at the edges of his mouth.
“Th-Thor,” you hiccough his name pathetically as he cups your chin, drawing his thumb across your trembling lower lip.
“What is it, Pet?” He asks, his blue eyes deceptively soft as he swirls his fingers around your clit. “Tell me.”
“P-please, I w-want—” You stumble over them clumsily, the words sticking together on your tongue.
“Oh dóron mou,” Thor croons, stamping one hoof against the stone in anticipation. “I know what it is you want.” You squeal as he presses against you, the thick, leaking head of his cock pressing hungrily into your belly. Though you have seen it before, you cannot help but peek down at the space between your bodies.
His torso is that of a man, still—mostly, the downy brown fur that covers his legs beginning just below his navel, growing thickly between his powerful thighs. His cock springs frol a dark tuft of fur, so thick around the base you couldn’t touch your thumb to your forefinger—something you had learned from experience.
A tremor of anticipation passes through you, and Thor’s nostrils flare.
“Come, my little gift. Let me feel you.” With one massive hand on your belly, Thor positions himself between your thighs, spreading them wide to accommodate the size of his hips. He presses himself against your cunt, groaning softly as he drags himself back and forth through your sticky folds. The head of his cock presses hard against your clit, and still more stars burst in front of your lidded eyes.
“So wet for me,” he murmurs, his hips bucking as his eyes go wide with pleasure. His hands tighten around your hips as he moves against you. “I wonder…”
You are not left without explanation for long, gasping as his cock presses against your entrance. You gape up at him, wide eyed as he begins to press forward. The burning stretch of his entry brings tears to your eyes. They track down your cheeks as you gurgle up at him, drawing red lines down his chest and with your nails.
You’re so full you’re drowning in him, gasping for breath as the tide of sensation drags you under. It’s so sharp it borders on pain, the pleasure tearing up your spine to burst over your skin in waves. Thor leans over you to stroke at your sweaty face with gentle fingers, his own eyes fever bright as he grins down at you smugly.
“I told you we would fit, Pet.” He swallows your breathless gasp of pleasure eagerly, and you taste yourself on his lips. “It just took a little… diligence.”

“Kitten?”
Thor slides Mjolnir, disguised as an umbrella, down his grasp and carefully lays it down beside the shoe rack by the front door. Your apartment is dark except for the single lamp cascading a dim light throughout the living room. From that alone, he knows that he would find you sleeping soundly in your room.
He slips off his hoodie and grapes it at the back of the couch, toeing off his boots after then walking towards your room. The door is ajar and he slowly takes a peek, the corners of his lips lifting into a small smile when he sees you on the bed, his cape draped across your body.
Oh, how he’s missed you. All those times he was running around New York then Asgard and finding himself on a strange planet, he kept thinking of you. That he had to finish the mission thrown at him in order for him to go back home and be with you again.
And he’s succeeded. And he wants nothing more than to wrap his arms around you and hold you, hopefully, to never let go.
Pushing the door wide, he walks in, making sure to keep quiet so as to not wake you. He stands at the side of your bed, his eyes admiring your face; lashes fanning your cheeks, parted lips as you breathe softly, how his cape accentuates the curves of your body that he can’t help but reach down and slowly pull down the fabric, revealing the treasure that awaits him underneath.
His eyes grow wide as he sees you wearing the silk night dress he bought you. The gold shimmering against the moonlight shining through the window and he tries his best to hold himself, to not pounce on you so soon. No. He wants to relish this moment, to ease himself in before devouring you completely.
He drops his shirt on the floor, jeans and socks following after, his hand reaching down to palm his growing erection through his boxers. He urges himself to be gentle as he goes to kneel on the mattress, not wanting to jostle the bed and belatedly wake you from your slumber.
Leaning over he trails kisses down your arm, lips pressing down onto your knuckles before inching lower land on on your clothed pelvis. He inhales sharply when he sees your bare thighs, his hand reaching over to push the fabric up your waist and hissing through gritted teeth when he comes face to face with your panties.
Thor doesn’t waste anymore time, feeling the waves of desire wash over him, dulling his senses, that he moves to spread your legs apart, leaning over to press his nose against your clothed cunt and inhaling deeply, relishing in your scent that he’s deeply missed.
One kiss to your pussy turns into two, then three and he dares to push the flimsy fabric to the side exposing your heat before running the pad of his tongue flat against your folds. The unconscious moan you release is music to his ears, that he does it again before rolling the tip of his tongue against your clit, finally tasting you once again.
“Thor—” You call out his name and he looks up, only to be surprised to see you still asleep.
It garners a smile on his face and urges him to continue, flicking and licking the nub slowly, wrapping his lips around your clit and begins to suck it gently. His hands press down on your inner thighs, spreading them wide for him, thumbs caressing the soft flesh.
His eyes then grow wide when he feels hands runs through his hair, shooting his eyes up and seeing you staring down at him with your sleepy orbs, sleepy hands pressing down on his head and he obliges to your silent command. He pulls you closer, pressing more of your cunt into his mouth as he sucks on your swollen bud harder, faster, eliciting moans from your lips and your fingers grabbing his hair tight.
Thor groans when you tug on his locks, pushing him further to suck more on the bud. His hands reach up to slide them underneath your silk night dress, large hands cupping your breasts, his tongue mimicking the move movement of his thumbs, rolling the tip around your clit while his thumbs twirl and pinch your stiff nipples.
“More—” You beg and an animalistic growl leaves his throat, hands squeezing down on your tits before he pulls them away, his tongue moving to thrust it into your cunt while his thumb takes its place on your clit, pressing and flicking it fast.
The way your hips buck against his mouth makes him shiver, his muscles tensing as he feels his cock stiffen by the second. Oh, how much he wants to fuck you now, to claim you and drive himself home but stops himself, for he wants you to come undone with only his mouth and hands, to bring you pleasure, bring you to a high before he seeks his own.
Back and forth, he bobs his head, pushing his tongue as deep as he can into your cunt. Rubbing  against your walls possessively, tasting the essence that slowly trickles down his taste buds. Your familiar nectar filling him, encasing him in sheer bliss, better than any he’s tasted among all nine realms, that he seeks to have more, to bring you to completion and bless him with the sweetness you keep hidden within.
He hears your breath hitch, your back arching from the bed and he pushes further down your clit, adding pressure to his thumb as he massages it, teasing it while his tongue twirls around your pussy. He hums as he wriggles his head, lapping up your pussy sloppily, the action causing you to cry out his name and from the way he feels your legs tense against his hand, he knows you’re close.
You whine when he pulls his tongue away, but a strangled moan escapes your throat when he pushes two fingers inside of you, Thor growling when you clench around him tightly, your pussy sucking on his digits as he thrusts them fast, burying them knuckle deep and curling them when he pulls out only to thrust them back in.
His lips claim your clit once more, sucking hard, his lips in sync with the motions of his fingers. He mumbles sweet nothings against the bud, having the vibrations of his mouth run through your body. And all at once, as he pushes his digits deep in one fluid motion, you call out his name, your walls clamping down on his fingers before feeling your essence coat them, Thor whispering your name as he spreads them apart, stretching your walls before pulling away and grinning at the way they glisten from your juices.
Giving your clit one long and wet kiss, he pulls away and slips his fingers past his lips, sucking them clean and humming at the taste, loving how the sweetness glaze his tongue. His eyes then cast down at you, a smile on his lips when he pulls his hand away, loving how sated you look on the bed, your night dress rumpled and your eyes closed, pleasure evident on your face.
“You cut your hair,” Those were not the words he expected but it makes him laugh.
He leans over, nestling his clothed hips between your thighs, elbows resting on either side of you head as he presses a soft kiss against your nose.
“It wasn’t by choice. I hope you don’t mind.” He says in a low voice, his lips pressing softly against yours before he moves to kiss your cheek then your jaw.
You wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him close and hum at the attention he’s giving you. “Never.” He sees your smile and he moves to rest his head on your shoulder, humming when he feels your hand caress the back of his head then chuckling when he feels you push down on his boxers with your feet.
“Kitten—what are you doing?” He asks although he already knows your answer.
“You’ve been gone for months, Thor Odinson, and I want you to fuck me til I can’t walk.” You breathe.
Your forwardness makes him boom in laughter, his hand cupping your cheek as he presses another kiss on your nose.
“I would never deny my lady’s desires.” He intones, claiming your lips once more and pulling you into a passionate kiss.

A/n: This my very first dark anything, as well as Thor, be gentle with me lol im making this a small series for my lovely friend @springdandelixn 💙 like I mentioned it will progress....keep your flashlights handy..... love you guys!!!!
Part One-
Tumblr media
You scroll further down the page, unsure what exactly your looking for....someone to listen....someone who won't judge you. You sigh, you friend Maya's words echoing through your head "you need to talk to someone, this isn't healthy to bottle everything up." She had said over coffee "I am, I'm talkng to you." You laughed seeing her shake her head "a professional y/n." She said sternly making you frown. And here you were, scrolling the endless pages of the internet in search of a "professional."
You sighed again, your thumb sliding across the screen on your phone when it caught your eye "Odinison Health and Rehabilitation." You aren't sure what possessed you as you pressed your thumb to the name, their website popping up as you scrolled down seeing their services, counseling being among the many. "Hmm, this might work." You said to yourself, your thumb hovering over the number. You had always told yourself counseling was a joke, a ploy for doctors to get money from the weak..but everything you had been through the last year......
You quicky dialed the number before you changed your mind, your heart racing more with each ring when a lady picked up "Odinson Health, how may I help you." She asked. "Umm...hi, I was...well you see I saw your website.." you trailed off trying to get your thoughts together "were you interested in one of our services ma'am?" She asked a little too politely "uuhh yes....counseling?" You asked, dragging your nails across the table "yes, we have a few different counselors but I would highly recommend one of the owners." She said, you could hear her smile through the phone. "Oh..ok." you hesitated hearing her fingers pressing the keys on her keyboard "ok, so the Odinson's are brothers, one specializes in psychology and med management, the other specializes in crisis situations, as well as general and family counseling, which would you prefer?" She asks typing.
"Err...um the general counselor I suppose?" You asked looking out of the window seeing a bird land on your window sill. "Ok great, Dr Odinson has a few available spots open, let me just see.." She trailed off typing away. "ok, he has an opening tomorrow at three for a consultation, does that work?" She asked "yeah that should be fine." You said tapping your fingers on the table. "Ok your all set for tomorrow, and he will go over his treatment plan with you then." She said "ok thank you." You said quickly hanging up. Releasing the breath you were holding you set your phone down deciding to finally do the sink of dishes that had been staring at you for days wondering what tomorrow would bring.
ooOOoo
You sat in your car staring at the building in front of you willing yourself to go inside, looking down seeing it was almost three you took a deep breath "ok...you can do this, what's the worst that could happen?" You asked yourself shutting your car off. You grabbed your keys and phone heading inside, seeing two ladies sitting behind either side of a long counter "hi! Can I help you?" The one looks up smiling, her like dark hair flowing past her shoulders "y..yes...I'm here to see Dr Odinson." You say fidgeting with your keys "which one?" The other lady snaps. "Um...counseling." you say quietly, afraid she'll bark at you again "oh great! Your in the right place then." The dark haired lady smiled.
You finished your paperwork, sitting in the waiting room absently scrolling through your phone when a text popped up. You wanted to ignore it, pretend you had never seen it. You had spent the last month pretending he never existed, the reason you were currently sitting waiting to talk to a compete stranger about your entire life. You sighed, deciding against your better judgment to open the message.
Shaun- Baby, why won't you talk to me? You know why I did what I did. If you had kept up with your responsibilities I wouldn't have looked elsewhere, I'm not the one to blame here. Now text me back and stop being childish.
You sat there staring at the screen, not sure how to react. It was true the last few months of your relationship had been rocky at best. Between you both working all the time and him hanging out with his friends you had no time together, let alone the energy for any intimacy. Somedays it took all you had to just climb into bed at night before doing it all over again. Hence the night you came home from work to another woman in your bed. A pang of sadness ran through you at the memory...
"That's it baby...mm God you feel so good." You heard Shaun moan through the door, the faceless woman moaning his name loudly as the headboard banged against the wall. You had told your boss you wanted to leave early to surprise your boyfriend with dinner, you weren't prepared for the surprise you had waiting for you. "Do i feel better then her daddy?" You heard the woman moan as tears welled in your eyes "so much better baby...she could never compare to this perfect cunt." You heard Shaun growl, hearing a loud thud against the wall.
You turned from the closed door, making you way to the kitchen you took the boxes of take out out of their bags, placing them in the fridge before sitting at the table, waiting. You weren't sure how long you sat there dazed when you heard voices coming down the hall "she's gonna be home soon, but I'll call you later baby. Maybe we can meet up again tomorrow?" You heard him ask opening the front door "anything for you..daddy." the woman replied before your heard the door shut, footsteps making their way into the kitchen stopping suddenly "how long have you been here?" Shaun asked. You looked up seeing his hair a mess, wearing nothing but a pair of boxers "long enough." You sighed looking down.
"Miss y/n?" You heard your name called, snapping you back to now, seeing a dark haired man standing in the doorway with a clipboard "I'm here, sorry." You said grabbing your keys following him. "So as you know you'll be seeing Dr odinson, this is strictly a consultation, so any questions you have feel free to ask ok?" He said smiling "ok, I will." You said as he led you to a closed door knocking on it "come in." You heard a deep booming voice on the other side sending a jolt through you "don't worry, he's a bit loud but he's really very nice." The man said opening the door. You took a deep breath, walking inside as the man closed the door behind you making you jump.
"Ah, you must me miss y/n, I'm Dr Odinson, but please, call me Thor." The man said standing from behind his desk. He smiled widely as he walked around, holding his hand out your eyes met the bluest ones you had ever seen, shining at you like diamonds through the glasses that seemed to frame his face perfectly "h..hi, I'm y/n." You stuttered, slowly reaching for his hand. "Yes, you are." He smiled "come, have a seat and we can talk." He said gesturing to the chair in front of his desk. You slowly sat down watching him walk around taking his seat, his large frame taking up a majority of the chair "so miss y/n, what brings you here today?" He asked, leaning his elbows on the desk, his large hands cupped together under his chin "Well, you see....I have a friend who said I needed to talk to someone, so here i am." You said looking down at your feet.
"Y/n, look at me." He said sternly making your eyes shoot to his "there you are." He smiled "now, I'm glad you have friends who are looking out for you but there must be a reason you decided to come today." He said watching you intently. "Umm...well i..." you trailed off, looking around the room seeing his diploma hung on the wall, as well as a painting of a lightning storm behind him. "Y/n..." he said making you look at him again "i...I recently left a bad relationship, a..and I'm having alot of issues." You said quietly seeing him nod "and well, I'm told I'm bottling it up." You said fidgeting with your keys again. "Do you feel like you are bottling it up?" He asked leaning forward a bit "I guess...maybe. I don't know." You sighed seeing him pick up a pen, writing something on his notepad.
"Can you briefly tell me what happened?" He asked looking up at you, his eyes boring into you "um, well i..I'd rather not." You said balling your fist "well y/n, in order for me to help you, we need to talk about it." He smiled. "I just..I don't think I'm ready. I'm sorry I wasted your time," you said, quickly getting to your feet as he did making your way to the door "wait y/n, please." He said, following you, placing a large hand on the door as you grabbed the handle "I apologize, I wasn't trying to force you." He said quietly, feeling the heat from his chest against your back, his frame towering over you making you crane your head to look at him, his cologne hitting your nose reminding you of sunshine and rain storms "please, let's sit back down hm?" He asked, not moving his hand from the door.
You took a deep breath, dropping your hand from the door you slowly walked back to your chair, this time he grabbed another chair setting it next to you as he sat down facing you, his knee brushing yours "I understand your apprehension, you don't know me as I don't know you, but you must understand I only wish to help you." He said, his eyes almost too bright to look at as you nodded. "Very good, now tell me..when was the last time you ate? And not junk food either." He asked leaning forward "oh...um a few days." You said seeing him nod "and the last time you truly relaxed, just let your mind go?" He continued "oh..never probably." You said with a small laugh.
You shifted in your seat feeling his gaze intensify. "Well y/n, I think your friend is right. I think you are trying to cope, but in an unhealthy manner." He said "but do not worry, I'm here for you." He smiled, his hand grazing your thigh as he shifted making you stiffen. "I will take very good care of you." He continued, placing his large hand on your knee squeezing "umm, well doctor odins...." you started "please, call me Thor." He said squeezing your knee again, his touch feeling electric as the door flew open, a dark haired man storming inside as Thor retracted his hand.
"I told you to meet me thirty minutes ago." The man snapped crossing his arms "as you can see, I am with a patient." Thor said standing up. "Yes, I can see that I'm not daft Thor, when will you be finished?" The man asked, his deep emerald eyes glaring at you "give me five minutes." Thor said walking around to the other side of his desk as the other man sighed, leaving the room. "Please, forgive my brother, he can be quite impatient." Thor laughed shifted through some papers "Brother?" You asked, looking at Thor's dark blonde hair and large build compared to the other man's raven hair and lithe build "yes..adopted." Thor said matter of factly as you nodded.
"Ok, y/n I would like to begin seeing you once a week to begin your treatment." Thor said writing something down "that often?" You asked furrowing your eyebrows "yes, I believe whatever happened with this.."relationship" has put a great deal on you, and I want to help you." He said air quoting. "I'm not sure I can afford that." You said as he stood, rounding the desk again "I told you y/n..I will take care of you. You have nothing to worry about" He smiled, handing you an appointment card, your fingers brushing his sending a shock through your finger tips. You looked down seeing your appointment was in a few days as you stood up, slipping it into your pocket "ok, thank you doct...Thor." You corrected seeing him smile "good girl, now come." He said, a shiver running through you at his praise making you feel uneasy.
He opened the door, waving you in front of him as he locked his door following behind you. "Now y/n, I want you to go home, take a nice hot bath, slip into your softest nightgown and...relax." He smiled, his eyes traveling up and down your body making you tense "are you ready Thor?" You heard the man before "family...am I right?" He smiled again as you chuckled nervously "I shall see you in a few days miss y/n." He said tilting his head "see you then." You said, hurrying towards the door, looking back seeing his eyes hadn't left you you quickly walked out, making your way to your car as fast as you could.
ooOOoo
You drove home, thinking about the interaction with the doctor. Maybe he's a toucher...you thought to yourself getting out of the car, remembering the grip he had on your knee, his large hand splayed across the door when you tried to leave. You could still feel his eyes on you, sending a shiver down your spine as you walked into your apartment, dropping your keys in the bowl by the door. You looked around sighing as you took in the silence. It had been a month since you moved out of your shared apartment with Shaun and you still weren't used to it. You walked to your room, pulling out your silk night gown laying it out on your bed, grabbing a towel you headed to the bathroom, sitting on the tub you turned the water on, pouring in your favorite lilac scented bubble bath, watching the tub fill as you undressed, stepping in lowering yourself into the hot water you closed your eyes, laying back letting it work the tension from your muscles.
"That's it muffin...relax for me." he whispered in your ear making you sigh, feeling his large hand slowly run up your thigh. "I need to see if you taste as sweet as you sound." He cooed, his lips slowly trailing down your collarbone, his teeth grazing your skin making your back arch. "Ah ah, be a good girl and hold still." He said, his deep voice vibrating through you as he lowered himself between your legs, spreading his hand across your stomach. "Mm..you smell exquisite." He growled, placing a kiss on your inner thigh, nipping at the sensative skin as your fingers threaded through his hair, pulling him closer.
"Eager are we?" He laughed, hooking your legs over his wide shoulders. "Don't worry muffin...I'll take good care of you." He purred, placing a soft kiss on your hip bone. "Aaahh....y....yes.....please...." you moaned, trying to rock closer to him, whining as his hand on your stomach held you in place, his large biceps locking your legs around him "I thought you were going to be my good girl." He said, his breath grazing your flesh "i..I am..I'm s...sorry." you breathed, trying to hold as still as possible. "That's right....show me you are worthy..." he trailed off. You opened your eyes, seeing the white ceiling looking down your eyes met electric blue ones seeing him smile as his lips met you skin..
You jolted up, water splashing to the floor as you gripped the side of the tub. "Holy shit." You breathed, running a hand through your hair. You looked down seeing the bubbles had dissipated, still able to feel his hands on you...his warmth seeping into you. "I need a vacation." You muttered, standing up wrapping the towel around yourself heading into your bedroom. You quickly changed, laying in bed you stared at the ceiling, the dream about your doctor leaving an uneasy feeling inside you, deciding it might be best to look for a different therapist as you closed your eyes hoping for a dreamless sleep.

Tumblr media
8 years together wasted.
There was no real feeling at first, not as you looked at your husband’s work phone lighting up with sexts from his coworker. A woman that not only you had met during a work holiday party months ago but you became friends with quickly. You confided in her when you had a miscarriage. She had your back when you decided to go back on birth control because you were scared of going through that again. Told her how insecure you felt because you had gained weight and were afraid Matt wouldn’t find you attractive. She had been kind and supportive but by the looks of these messages they had been fooling around since before the holiday party. It was almost as long as your husband, Matt, had been employed there.
The only reason you even saw these messages was because he went out to the store and forgot his phone. The incessant pings made you grab it from the kitchen counter. You were only going to silence it but the screen lit up and you saw the first one. Matt was predictable so guessing his passcode wasn’t difficult. Once you looked through the messages you took screenshots of everything and sent them to yourself, then deleted all evidence that you had even touched it. For a moment you worried that he would see the message and realize there was no notification but she messaged a few more times so you were safe. A few minutes later Your husband walks through the door with the snacks he went to buy for himself, he grabs the phone off the counter and walks into his study without so much as a look in your direction.
It makes sense now, how dismissive and distant he had been and the lack of sex or any type of affection really. It was all falling into place, how quickly your relationship had died. But somehow it still hadn’t hit you. Not when you went to bed and he kissed your cheek. You couldn’t bring yourself to be upset as he fell asleep next to you without a care in the world. There was absolutely no guilt on his part. Sleeping was out of the question as you meticulously pulled apart your relationship. If only you could pinpoint the moment in which everything went awry, maybe you could understand. As the night went on and you sat against the headboard and you listened to the snores of the man that was supposed to love you the only question you had was, did you want to fix it?
You weren’t sure, the sun’s rays peeked through the curtains, letting you know you had spent the night awake. Silently you made your way out of the bedroom and into the kitchen to make coffee. A few minutes later Matt walked out and dressed in a Henley and jeans. It was Saturday so you didn’t have any plans but then again just because you didn’t have plans doesn’t mean he didn’t.
“Coffee?” You ask as you grab his mug. Maybe you could talk to him before he left.
“No, I have to head out. I’ll see you later. Love you.” He said, giving you a kiss on the temple and heading out the door.
That’s when the reality of the situation hits you like a freight train. The man that you were supposed to spend the rest of your life with was out with another woman. You had proof in the messages. How could he possibly love you? His mug fell from your hand, shattering into a million tiny pieces just like your heart. You cover your face with your hands and cry. The pain is rooted deep, and as much as you try you can’t seem to catch your breath. Tears flow against your will and your shoulders shake uncontrollably as you stand in the kitchen wrapped up in a robe. It’s the only thing that provides warmth in this now cold house. How had you not noticed before?
After what felt like hours you finally get your breathing under control and you make your way to the bathroom. You can’t even look at yourself in the mirror afraid of what you’ll find reflected back to you. Matt always hated that you would sometimes focus more on your job than him. Was he angry that you had a miscarriage? Had he blamed you for it? Or that you decided to wait to try for a kid again because you were afraid it would happen again? Did he regret being with a bigger woman? How many flaws could you find if you looked up to the mirror? Would you see the reasons he did it? You didn’t know, still what he did was wrong no matter how he felt. But doubt loves to take control and just make you wonder what it was that you did wrong and not why Matt couldn’t just talk to you.
Once you finished washing your face you cleaned up the shattered mug and sat on the couch in the living room. With your phone in hand you began to look at the screenshots you had sent yourself to really understand what was happening between them and to figure out what your next move would be. One thing was certain: staying married wasn’t an option anymore.
The rest of the weekend went by in a flash. Matt barely spent time in the house. Now that you knew you wondered how you didn’t notice before. He left his work phone on his nightstand this time and you could hear the vibration alerting to another message. You had promised yourself that you wouldn’t do it again but you couldn’t help yourself. Poking your head out into the hallway you listen to see if Matt is in the house or if he’s still out in the garage. After not hearing anything you grab the phone and look over the messages to see them making plans. Those plans give you an idea, you take another screenshot and put the phone back.

A month went by since you discovered that Matt had been cheating. You had a plan in your head and it was time to go through with it. The private investigator that you hired had sent you everything you needed and you had already contacted a lawyer.
When Monday morning rolls around you stay in bed, having already decided to call in sick to work. Matt walks around the room getting ready for the day and as he’s about to leave he looks over at the bed to find you watching him.
“Aren’t you going to work?” He looks slightly annoyed.
“I don’t feel good. I was going to call off.”
“Oh ok.” He says before leaving for the day.
Before all of this he would have walked over and checked for a fever, asked what exactly were you feeling and even offered to stay home or leave work early to get you medicine and take care of you. You stay in bed for a while and allow yourself to cry again. This week is going to be intense to say the least and you have to get yourself mentally prepared for it. You haven’t even told any of your family or friends. The shame you feel is overwhelming, how could you possibly tell anyone?
Well there was one person you could and would tell. In fact it’s why you were standing in front of Odinson Inc. to talk with the CEO and the husband of your husband’s lover Jane. You had talked yourself up on the way to the company but now that you stood near the front doors you asked yourself if you should tell him but if the roles were reversed you would want them to tell you.
“Are you ok?” A deep voice asked besides you and you recognized it immediately.
Thor.
You looked up at the blond. His hair was longer than the last time you’d seen him and he had it half tied up. The navy suit he wore was tailored to perfection and fit like a second skin. How could anyone cheat on someone like him?
“Y/N?”
“Yes, I'm fine.” You close your eyes and take a deep breath before looking back up and meeting Thor’s eyes. “Actually I’m not and I was wondering if I could talk to you. It’s a very important and personal matter.” You added when you saw his assistant get closer.
“Well any friend of Jane is a friend of mine, please let’s go inside.” He motions for you to go ahead before turning to his assistant and telling him to hold his calls.
You and Thor reach the elevator banks and he again motions for you to step inside. He looks at you offering a reassuring smile, one that makes the corners of his eyes crinkle. You started to feel guilty even though you hadn’t been the one to sleep with his wife. In that moment as the elevator ascended you wondered what was wrong with both of you for your respective significant others to cheat on you. The elevator doors open and you step out and follow Thor down the hall and into his massive office. Was everything that he had this huge? Maybe.
“Please have a seat. I was just going to order lunch, why don’t you join me?”
“No thank you, I'm not really hungry.” You moved to sit on the deep red couch in the lounge area he had.
“Ok.” He moves to sit across from. “So what is troubling you?”
You open your mouth to speak but you fall short. How are you supposed to start this conversation? Tears threaten to spill as you look at him, his brows furrowed with concern as he looks at you.
“I’m sorry.” You choke out as you try to contain your tears. Thor moves around to sit next to you, grabbing a box of tissues from the coffee table and holding it out for you. “Thank you.”
“No worries, take your time.”
“I don’t really know how else to say this. And I really am so sorry but I just thought you deserved to know and if it were the other way around I would want you to tell me.”
“What do you wish to tell me?”
“Jane is cheating on you.” There, it’s out in the open. You watch him, trying to see some kind of emotion but he’s difficult to read.
“I’m sorry Y/N but I must ask you to leave. I will not tolerate you talking about my wife like that. Isn’t she your friend?” His tone is clipped, anger evident on his face. Thor moved away from you as if you’d burned him.
“I thought she was, but she’s sleeping with my husband.” You add.
Thor is silent, he stands and walks over to the bar, pouring himself a drink and downing it in one go. He pours himself another and turns to look at you. Waiting for something, for you to say it was a cruel joke or worse to show him evidence.
“I found text messages on his supposed work phone first. So I hired a private investigator. I can show you everything.”
Unable to say a word Thor nods. You know what he’s feeling, the numbness almost as if someone dumped ice water on you. The PI you hired gave you multiple copies of everything and you prepared an envelope for him. Thor crosses the space again and grabs it, he paces as he looks through it. His grip on the pictures tighten and his jaw is clenched. The more he reads and looks at the pictures his wife sent your husband and vice versa the angrier he gets.
“How long have you known?”
“I found out a month ago, the last Friday of the month. She wouldn’t stop texting him.”
“Friday?” He lets out a humorless laugh.
“Yes. Why?”
“We were celebrating our anniversary. But during the whole evening I couldn’t get her off the phone.” He said.
“I’m sorry.”
“You’re sorry?” He turns to look at you with a frown. “They cheat on us and you’re the one who’s sorry?”
“For telling you. I don’t know, I thought if it were me I would want to know. I should have thought this through.”
Thor’s rage filled eyes soften as he looks at you. The way your shoulders sagged and your eyes were puffy and red rimmed. You looked tired and heartbroken. Thor moves to sit next to you, one of his massive hands rests over yours.
“For what it’s worth I’m sorry too.” He sighs. “Do you know what you plan to do? What did he say when you confronted him?”
You tilt your head to look up at him questioning how you’ll bring up the plan you have. With pursed lips you shake your head.
“I already have a divorce lawyer working on the documents for me. As for your other question, I had an idea to maybe do it together.”
“Confront them together?” You nod. “How would we do that exactly?”
“They have reservations at that new French restaurant for Thursday. I thought we could make our own.”
“So we’ll show up and then what?”
“Well I plan to give Matt divorce papers. I know he’ll try to make it seem like I’m going crazy, that he isn’t cheating so I want him to see that I caught him in the act.”
Thor didn’t respond, he sat there quietly weighing his options it seemed. He loved Jane, they made it work even when their interests and wants in life were polar opposites sometimes. Even on bad days he never thought that something like this would happen.
“You don’t have to get divorced, maybe you and Jane can work it out. I just know there’s no going back for me.” You said sadly. It was true the more you thought about it the more you realized how unhappy you were in the marriage.
“I don’t know if I can do that Y/N, I’m sorry.”
You shake your head. “Don’t worry about it.” You took a piece of paper out of your purse and held it out to him. “My number, just in case you need someone to talk to.”
“Thank you.”
“I’m sorry about all of this Thor. You deserve better.”
“So do you.” He replied as he stood with you and brought you in for a hug. One that you had desperately needed. With teary eyes you looked up at him and gave him a sad smile before walking out of his office.

After Matt left Tuesday morning you got dressed and headed to the house of 2 of your 3 best friends. Standing on the stoop of their brownstone you’re about to knock when you hear your name behind you.
“Doll what are you doing here?”
“Buck-“ you did your best to hold back your tears. You weren’t expecting Bucky at the Rogers-Romanoff home so early in the day but still his presence was welcomed.
Bucky hurried up the steps and wrapped his arms around you after seeing your red rimmed eyes.
“Shh, it’s ok doll I’ve got you.” He cradled the back of your head against his chest as you cried and reached for the doorbell with his free hand.
“It’s about damn time you got here Barnes… Y/N? What happened?” Nat asked as she opened the door wider to let you both in.
“Come on Doll.” Bucky let you go so that you both could walk in.
Nat ushered you into the kitchen where you found Steve typing away on his laptop, a rare day where he stayed home instead of heading into his own company. He looked up when he heard footsteps and surprise passed his face before his eyebrows furrowed.
“Y/N, what’s wrong?” He left his laptop behind as he moved to hug you. You could feel Nat’s hand rubbing soothing circles on your back. Bucky stood beside the three of you with his hands crossed over his chest and a scowl on his face.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to break down like this.”
“You don’t have to apologize, go sit at the table we made breakfast.” Nat pushed you gently toward Steve and he guided you to sit down while Bucky and Nat put some plates together. In a few short minutes they had filled the table with all types of breakfast foods, coffee and orange juice. Sitting there watching as they made a plate for themselves you realized that you’d barely eaten since Monday morning but still you couldn’t eat a thing. A plate is set in front of you, just a few of your favorites.
“Eat and tell us what’s going on.” Bucky said from beside you.
You sighed and ate a piece of fruit and then another. “So I want to start by saying that I’m already handling the situation.”
“What did that fucker do?”
The rage in all of their eyes made you tense and you questioned if it had been the right idea to come here. But you needed your friends and you had known each other since primary school. You had been as thick as thieves since you were little and you grew together all throughout school and life in general. They would find out anyway so you decided to tell them, it’s why you came in the first place.
“He’s been cheating on me.” You whisper as you look down at your plate, pushing around some of the other food around with your fork.
“What?”
“I’ll kill him!”
“Asshole.”
The three of them said at the same time.
“When did you find out?” Steve asked
“How long?”
“I’m not sure but I’m thinking close to a year.”
“Do you know who he’s been with? Is he sleeping around with different people?”
“No, just one person from what I saw.”
“Do you know who it is?”
You nod as you look at the three of them.
“You know her too. It’s Um- it’s Jane.”
They stared, jaws slacked. A couple of seconds of silence go by before they start talking over each other. Mostly they talk about how Steve is going to make him pay, a few curses in Russian from Nat and Bucky flipping the butter knife around and saying no one would ever find his body.
Never in your life did you think you would have to go through a divorce. But here you are on a random Tuesday morning with your best friends. Listening to their different versions of revenge and you can’t help but start laughing. They exchange worried glances.
“Are you ok Y/N?” Nat asked.
“Am I ok? Of course I’m not. The man that I was ready to spend the rest of my life with is cheating on me and I’m listening to Bucky plan his murder. And this orange juice has no alcohol in it.”
Steve moved and grabbed a bottle of vodka and handed it to you.
“Better?”
“Not really but it’s a start.”
“So what are you going to do, Doll?”
“I’m getting divorced. I hired a PI and I have more evidence and I already have the divorce papers all he has to do is sign them.”
“Good, you deserve better than that asshole.”
“Did you talk to him already?”
You shook your head.
“Wait, isn’t Jane married?” Nat inquired.
“Yeah, she’s married to Thor. He runs Odinson Inc. I wonder if he knows.” Steve said the last part under his breath.
“He does.”
“How do you know that he knows?” Steve narrowed his eyes.
“Well I may or may not have shown up at his company yesterday and told him. Also showed him proof.”
“Let me see the proof”
You grabbed your phone and gave it to Nat and both men moved to hover behind her as they read the messages you had.
“How did he react?” Nat asked
“When are you confronting him? Do you want us to be there?” Bucky added.
“He was obviously upset. Apparently their anniversary was that Friday and she was sexting Matt the whole time. I told him that they made a reservation for that new French restaurant and that we should confront them there but he didn’t want to. I guess I’ll just talk to him Friday and give him the divorce papers.”
“Oh sweetheart we are so sorry.” Steve moves around the table and hugs you again. “You’re more than welcome to stay with us for as long as you want.”
“Or if you like living with normal people, you’re more than welcome to stay with Sam and me.”
“I’ll let you guys know, maybe he’ll leave the house.”
The rest of the morning was spent listening to your friends talking shit about Matt. Then it shifted to what was next, and somehow they convinced you to go out to a club and find a rebound. That wasn’t going to happen any time soon though. Your body had changed, you gained weight and the insecurities were bound to rear their ugly heads. Not long after that you head home. There were a few things you needed to start doing, like looking for an apartment just in case Matt fought over the house. That night Matt got home very late, you didn’t ask where he was and he didn’t offer an explanation.
Wednesday is no different. Matt is gone for the day and you take the opportunity to go through your wedding album. With tears you looked back at the day you promised forever. It seemed like forever would only be 8 years. It was mainly uneventful, Nat, Steve, Bucky and Sam messaged you to make sure you were ok.

Thor stayed in his office until late at night. It wasn’t unusual anymore. At the beginning of his marriage, when his father first stepped down and handed the company over, he used to feel so guilty. There had been so many nights where he ended up sleeping on the couch in his office because he had to clean up so many of his father’s mistakes. His marriage had been affected by it but after a few months everything started to go right. He had more time for Jane. They were able to spend weekends together and go on trips. Thor loved to spoil her. But that was almost 10 years ago.
He would be lying if he said he hadn’t noticed the change in her behavior. How she started dressing up again. Thor just thought it had been a slump in the relationship and it was over, now he knew better. For some reason he felt more upset for you than for himself, maybe it’s because he knew his marriage had been over long ago.
When he did manage to get home Jane was already asleep. So he showered and put on his pajama bottoms and went to bed. He didn’t sleep at all that night.
The next morning Thor was already up and getting dressed by the time Jane walked into their walk-in closet in search of a work outfit. Even though he was sure his marriage was over he had a smidge of hope left that he would be able to fix it. He didn’t know where he went wrong but he had turned his back on his father in order to marry Jane. Now his father’s words of them not having a long lasting marriage rang in his head.
Thor silently turned to Jane and he wrapped his arms around her waist before resting his chin on her shoulder. She chuckled as she turned her head to get a good look at him.
“What?”
“What do you say we go away this weekend? Anywhere you want. I can have everything booked and we can head out on Thursday. All you have to do is ask for two days off.”
Jane sighed and stepped away from Thor. She turned to look at him, guilt already in her eyes.
“I’m sorry but I can’t this weekend. I have a lot of meetings and I can’t miss any of them.”
Thor nods. “It’s ok I understand.”
“Hey, maybe we can get away next weekend or something.”
“Yeah, I’ll see what I can put together. See you later, I have to get to the office.”
Jane said a quick goodbye over her shoulder. Thor grabbed his phone and dialed your number but changed his mind. You probably had enough to worry about and didn’t need to listen to him ramble on about his own relationship. Instead he calls his assistant and tells him to get a reservation to the restaurant you had mentioned and a dress for you.

You met with your divorce lawyer one more time on thursday. He tells you that you can expect Matt to get his own lawyer and there could be some back and forth before the divorce is final but that he will handle all of the communication, something you’re grateful for.
As you step out of a coffee shop near your lawyer’s office your phone rings.
“Hey Nat, what’s up?”
“Hi babe, just checking in. What are you up to?”
“Just left the lawyer’s office.”
“Oh, how is that going?”
“Good, I guess. I mean getting a divorce wasn’t really on my to do list this year you know.” You tell her as you get to your car.
“I know. Do you want to come over for dinner? I’ll invite Sam and Bucky.”
“I appreciate it but I’m going to try to talk to Matt today.”
“Ok, text us if you need anything.”
“I will. Thanks Nat.” You day before hanging up.
When you arrive at your place you find someone standing at your front door. As you get closer you realize you’d seen him at Thor’s office.
“May I help you?” You asked as you walked up behind him.
“Oh, hello there. I’m Korg, Thor’s assistant.”
“Hello Korg. Why are you here?”
“Thor asked me to give this to you.” He held up a white box with a note attached to it.
“What is it?”
“I’m not sure, he just said to make sure you got it before tonight.”
“Ok, thank you I guess.” You said as you grabbed the box from him.
“No problem ma’am. Have a good day.” He said as he walked away.
You hurried inside and put the box on the table. Curiosity was pushing you to open the box but you grabbed the note first.
Reservation at 8:00. See you then.
-T
You reread the card a few times and even flipped it over to make sure you weren’t seeing things. The box sat unopened and now you really needed to know what he had sent. When you open it you find a beautiful black dress. You were unsure if it would fit but as you pulled it out and pressed it against your body you realized it might.
Without a second thought you went into your room and started getting ready. Hopefully confronting them would be easier with Thor next to you than doing it alone.
Your hair was just right, you went with a simple winged liner and red lipstick and black heels you’d bought a while back for a date night that never happened. As you’re about to grab your car keys there’s a knock on your door. When you open it you find a man in a suit and tie standing there.
“Yes?” You look at him confused.
“Hi I’m Skurge. I’m Mr. Odinson’s driver.”
“Ok?”
“He sent me to pick you up for dinner.”
“Oh ok, I’ll be right out.”
“No worries.” He said before walking back to his car.
You walked back inside and grabbed your purse, keys, phone along with the envelope that contained the divorce documents and all the evidence. Once you’re outside and the door is locked, Skurge opens the car door for you before getting in the driver’s seat. You tried to keep calm. Deep down a part of you wanted to work this out and forgive him. Try to find a way to make it work. But the other part of you thought back to your own parent’s relationship. How your father’s cheating hurt your mother so much and she never left, and you couldn’t understand why. She wasn’t happy, she was constantly checking his clothes for any signs of another woman. She was angry all the time, you can’t remember the last time you’d seen her smile. You couldn’t turn into her.
Your door is opened by the valet at the restaurant and when you step out you find a hand being offered to you.
Thor.
He stands beside the car as he helps you out. His hand finds its way to the small of your back to guide you towards the entrance. He looked amazing. Thor wore a black suit but instead of a button up, he wore a black t-shirt tucked into his trousers. His hair was tied back in a half up, half down style. You met his eyes, no longer sparkling. Instead they looked dull and the bags under his eyes were more prominent but you weren’t sure if that had to do with his job or with the situation. Still he smiled down at you.
“You look beautiful.” He said as he moved to open the door of the restaurant.
“Thank you,” you said. “You look pretty great yourself.” The words spilled from your lips with such ease that for a moment you forgot what it was you were here to do for a moment.
As he speaks with the hostess you look around the room. Part of you was trying to find them but the other part was hoping you didn’t. It was too late to back out. Not with Thor there willing to do this with you. There was still the question of why he decided to come in the first place. The plan you made for yourself was set. You were going to wait for him tonight and confront him.
“Right this way Mr. Odinson.” You heard the hostess say with a happy tone in her voice. Wordlessly Thor again placed his hand on your lower back and guided you through the tables until the hostess stopped toward the back of the room and placed some menus down. Thor pulled the chair out for you before taking a seat next to you. His back to the wall, giving him a good view of the open space. You picked at the cloth napkin that had been folded into a beautiful pattern and sat on the plate before you.
“Are you ok?”
“Not really.” You finally look up to find him observing you. “How are you feeling?”
“To be honest, part of me doesn’t want to believe that Jane could actually do something like this, even with the evidence. It’s why I decided to come. To see it for myself. Why did you want to do this?”
“I don’t know, I guess I wanted to see it. But part of me thought that if I confronted him in public he wouldn’t argue.. I want him to know that I know and not give him the chance to argue or try to convince me to stay.”
“So you don’t like confrontation?”
“No that’s not it. It’s just… He’s my husband, I was ready to spend the rest of my life with him and start a family, you know. Now I had to hire a divorce lawyer, think about selling our home and try to put my life back together again.  Besides, he would probably sit there and try to convince me that I have no idea what I’m talking about or that it’s now what it looks like.”
He just gave you a small nod. The waiter came by and you distracted yourself by looking around the room as Thor ordered some wine. Your hand flies to his when you finally see them in the middle of the room. His hand shifts and gives you a reassuring squeeze.
Your chest tightened as you watched them together. If you were a stranger, unaware of the situation you would think that they were a couple very much in love. Matt was attentive, he pulled Jane’s hand to his lips and smiled into the kiss. Jane looked beautiful as she blushed at the gesture. They were face to face with a small movement and their lips could connect. You had wished that the affair was nothing more than physical, that no one could give him that emotional connection you had but it was obviously not true. They kept their hands on each other and you realized that Matt had never been like that with you. You looked away as your vision blurred with tears. The waiter appeared with a bottle of wine, he presented it to Thor and then filled both your and his glass. Thor spoke with the waiter again while you grabbed the glass and drank it in one gulp before grabbing the bottle left behind and pouring more into the glass. When you looked up at Thor you saw a mixture of anger, sadness and acceptance in his eyes. His jaw was clenched and his fist was balled up so tight his knuckles were turning white.
While you and Thor had just gotten there, Matt and Jane were almost done with dinner. It seemed like they had asked for the bill, instead a dessert was placed on their table and a bottle of wine presented to them. You looked at Thor for a moment and then back at them.
“Be ready.” He said under his breath.
“You sent them a dessert?”
“What’s dinner without something sweet.” Just then you saw the waiter motion toward your table. You’re not sure where the surge of confidence came from but once Matt and Jane looked your way you brought your wine glass in the air, a silent cheers sent their way. All the color drained from Matt’s face once he realized that he’d been caught while Jane just stared wide-eyed. “Come on, we should go.” Thor whispered in your ear and you did as he said.
Hurried steps followed yours as you walked out of the restaurant. Thor headed toward the car that was waiting for you both but you walked down the street. He turned and followed when he realized you were walking away from the restaurant to not cause a scene. There wasn’t a chance to check in with each other when Jane stopped in front of you.
“Thor I can explain.”
“What are you doing here?” Matt asked, angry and annoyed at your presence.
“I could ask you the same thing.”  You said before he pulled you away from Jane and Thor to have a more private conversation. Thor followed you with his eyes, he didn’t like the way Matt had grabbed you, Thor could see the way his fingers were digging into the soft flesh of your arm. He knew you didn’t want to be alone with Matt at the moment and he all but walked over to end the conversation.
“Thor,” Jane called out. “It was just a business dinner.”
“I’ve never had a business dinner like that before.” Thor scoffed when he looked back at her. She looked at him and then at the floor.
“When did you find out?”
“Monday. Y/N came by the office. You know at first I didn’t believe her, how could she accuse you of such a thing, you’re friends. But she had proof, sexts and pictures you had sent her husband.”
“It didn’t mean anything. It was just a fling.” Jane said with a shaky voice.
“A fling.” His voice fills the quiet night air. “It’s lasted a year. If I wouldn’t have found out how long would it have kept going? If you were so unhappy with our marriage you should have just said so. There was no need for this. I love you so much, I would have done anything for you. Even if that meant letting you go.”
“I’m sorry, I love you too. Please give me a chance to make this right.”
The crack of skin to skin contact was heard and Thor looked up to see you bring your hand down from having slapped Matt. Even on the poorly lit sidewalk he could see your tear filled eyes as you looked at your husband.
“What, are you mad that I’m telling the truth? You’re pathetic.” Matt walked closer to you, his hands balled into fists. For the first time ever you were afraid he would hit you. He opened his mouth to say something else but was stopped when Thor’s fist connected to his face, knocking Matt to the floor.
“Come on, there’s no need to subject ourselves to this any further.” He said as he turned you toward the waiting car.
“If you want to talk you can do so with my lawyer.” You inform Matt as you take the signed documents along with all the evidence and throw it at his feet.
“Thor.” Jane reached for him.
“Don’t Jane, there is nothing you can say right now that will make me feel any better about this situation.”
Thor opened the car door for you before walking around and getting in himself. You looked down at your hands in your lap. Tears fell freely as the car drove you further away from them. Matt’s words echoed in your head. The harshness in which he spoke to you when he had pulled you aside as if it were you ruining his relationship with Jane. Thor’s hand covered both of yours and you remembered he was there. When you looked up, his eyes held unshed tears, he offered a tight lipped smile before you looked away. As you slipped further into a neighborhood you looked back at Thor confused.
“Where are we going?”
“My apartment, or I can drop you off at home or anywhere else?”
You shake your head, you didn’t want to be alone but being with your friends would be overwhelming.
Tumblr media
The elevator doors open directly into a foyer. It’s simple in decor, a table to one side with a bowl for keys which Thor uses as he leads you further into the apartment. The decor is almost regal and it flows throughout all the rooms. You sit on one of the couches in the living room and take off the heels you’d worn.
“Would you like a drink?” Thor asks from the bar in the corner of the room.
“Something strong.”
Thor grabs a glass and a bottle to pour you a drink. He moves swiftly through the living room and offers you the glass before sitting down beside you. In the silence all you could do was think of what Matt had said to you. How had he been able to talk to you like that so easily? Did your relationship mean nothing to him?
“You shouldn’t waste your time thinking about him. He’s wrong about you.” Thor broke the silence and you scoffed.
“It’s easy for you to say when you look like that.”
“And what exactly is it that I look like?”
“Pfft I don’t know a god maybe?” You knock back your drink before placing the glass on the coffee table.
“Is that all you think that it takes? All you have to do is look good.” He looked at you, his jaw clenched.
“No, I’m sorry.” you said after a moment. It was true you and Thor couldn’t be more different if you tried. While he was tall and fit, you were shorter and you were heavier than when you first married Matt. “It’s what he says drove him away though.”
Thor’s hands found their way to your thick thighs and he pulled you into his lap so that you were straddling him, causing your dress to ride up. “He’s a fucking idiot and it just shows he wasn’t a real man.”  His eyes burned into yours before he looked at your lips and back. “Let me show you how you should be treated.”
Thor’s hand finds its way to the back of your neck and he pulls you in, connecting his lips with yours. You froze for a second before you started kissing him back, your hands moving from his chest up to his hair. You felt Thor’s hands move to your hips and he pulled you down so that you could feel his hardening length.
“That’s what you do to me.”
A moan escaped your lips as you rolled your hips trying to find any sort of relief from the ache building up between your thighs. Thor explored your mouth with his tongue and your body with his hands. Your red lipstick stained his lips, and he trailed it down your jaw and onto your neck where he nips and leaves marks. He pulls the strap of your dress down your shoulder and peppers your chest with kisses as your black lacy bra is revealed. Thor looks at you before pulling the cup down and swirling his tongue around your hardened nipple.
Feeling bold you reach for the zipper on your dress and pull it down. Thor grabs the hem and pulls it up and over your head before reaching for the clasp of your bra and removing it as well. Suddenly Thor stands, his hands firmly gripping your ass as he encourages you to wrap your legs around his waist. Your lips found their way to his jaw as he walked deeper in the apartment and suddenly your back hit a mattress. He was fully dressed and you were in your lacy black underwear and you felt too exposed, Matt’s words started to echo in your head and you wanted to hide. Thor moved to hover over you and you realized he had removed his shirt. He kissed you tenderly before pulling back.
“Do you want this?”
You nodded.
“I need to hear you say it.”
“Yes, I want this.”
He smiled before kissing you again and slowly moving down your body. Thor nipped and kissed every part of you that made you self-conscious. His lips were soft and his eyes burning with desire as they looked up at you. With every touch, whether it was his hands or his lips, you felt need and slick pool between your legs and when you were finally completely bared your arousal was evident. You sucked in air when you felt his thick fingers trace along your folds. Thor brought it up to his mouth and cleaned them.
“So good.”
You swallowed thickly as he moved to lay between your thighs. The way Thor was talking was enough to have you clenching around nothing. He alternated between kissing and leaving small bite marks on your inner thighs, his beard gracing your sensitive skin all the way up until you felt him kiss your mound. Thor licked a slow long stripe from your weeping entrance to your clit before he took the sensitive bundle of nerves into his mouth, a groan escaped his lips. He would change it up from focusing on your clit to teasing your entrance, you moaned and whined until you felt a finger push into you. The man who was currently reducing you into a puddle started at a slow pace and slowly built it up until he added another. You feel that coil low in your belly tighten as he adds another finger. Your hips jerk toward him and he puts his free arm around you to keep you still. The combination of his tongue and fingers driving you closer to an orgasm.
“Right there. F-fuck.” you gasped as you reached to grab and tug on his hair. “Thor I’m go-”
“That’s it,” he said as he looked up at you  before latching on to your clit again and sucking hard. Thor feels the way you clench around his fingers, urging him to keep going. You throw your head back with a moan as the pleasure he’s so freely giving you builds. “Let go, dove.”
His words push you over the edge as your orgasm washes over you. You can feel he continues to lap up your release not wasting a single drop before he’s kissing his way back up to your mouth. Thor’s beard glistening with nothing but you. When he kisses you again you can taste yourself and you moan.
He pulls back and looks down at you, pupils full blown with lust and a smirk on his lips. Your hands go to his belt and you undo it quickly before pulling it through the belt loops. You make quick work of unbuttoning his slacks and pulling on the zipper. Thor moves just as you're about to push his pants and boxers down. He removes the offending clothing and tosses it somewhere behind him. Before he could get settled again between your thighs you pushed against one of his shoulders. You felt him tense slightly but he laid on his side to allow you to get up and leave if that’s what you wanted. But you didn’t stop when he moved, you continued to push until he was on his back.
“My turn.” You say with a smile as your hand slides up his muscular thigh. He’s heavy in your hand and you appreciate how big he is as you begin to move your fist up and down. Thor groans when he feels your mouth on him.
You run your tongue from the base to the tip before swirling it around and tasting the bead of precum. Thor’s hands find their way into your hair just as you take the head of his cock into your mouth. His hips jerk upward and you take more of him. He moans as you begin to bob your head up and down.
“Fuck, just like that. Show me what that pretty little mouth can do.”
It’s your turn to moan at his words. Your nails dig into his thigh as you hollow out your cheeks. His cock twitches against your tongue and soon you find Thor pulling you off of him. A string of spit connects you to his length before he pulls you in for a filthy kiss.
“Such a good girl for me. But I want to be in that tight little pussy when I come.” He all but growled against your lips. Thor sits up, his hands are on your hips as he guides you over himself. You move to straddle him, placing your hands on his shoulders as you move. He stops before things go further. “fuck I don’t have protection.”
“I’m clean, and I’m on birth control.” You reassure him.
“I’m clean too.” Thor aligns himself with your entrance and you gasp as you feel him stretch you out. You rest your forehead against his, taking a moment to adjust to his size before you start moving. Thor’s hands are on your hips as he helps you bounce on his cock. Nothing but the sound of both your moans is heard. It doesn’t take long for you to feel closer to another orgasm. Thor kisses, nips and marks your neck as you grind into him.
“Fuck, so good.” You whimper as he thrusts up to meet you.
“I can feel you’re close, Dove. Come for me.” He growls into your skin and it’s all you need to fall over the edge. You throw your head back as the second orgasm washes over you and suddenly you’re on your back. “You are so beautiful.” He murmurs before he starts moving again. Your nails dig into his back as Thor’s pace quickens.
It’s a bit overwhelming, the intensity of his electric blue eyes as he looks at you come undone, the smirk he gives you when your eyes meet, the way he rolls his hips hitting your g-spot over and over again. But most of all it was the way you feel connected with Thor. It’s somehow more intimate than what you’ve felt before, maybe because of the situation you find yourselves in but you’ll take what you can get and you pull him down for a kiss.
You aren’t sure if it’s an entirely new orgasm or just the last one still sending waves of pleasure through you but you feel your legs shaking as Thor continues his fast pace. His hips stutter and he curses under his breath. After a few more thrusts you feel his cum coat your velvet walls.
Thor kisses you again before slowly pulling out and then laying next to you. The bed dips and you follow his movement with your eyes, too tired to actually move. He comes back with a damp cloth and his hand disappears between your thighs as he cleans you up before pulling the covers over you. He tosses the cloth somewhere behind him and lays down again. You turn to face him only to find him already looking at you.
“C’mere.” He says before wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you closer.
With your head resting on his chest and his hand moving up and down your back it doesn’t take long for your eyes to close. It’s the best sleep you’ve had in a month and the best sex you’ve had in years.
The last thing you thought about was how could anyone leave someone like Thor for someone like Matt.
Tumblr media
You were in Steve’s office. Him and Nat were definitely surprised to see you early on Friday. But you had promised you would tell them how it went. So while Nat and Steve were face to face you facetimed Sam and Bucky. Telling them everything that happened.
“So let me get this straight,” Bucky said. “He said he found you disgusting and that you were pathetic for thinking he could still be attracted to you?”
“Yeah, and he said he was glad that I miscarried because he didn’t want to be tied down to me.” You sigh and you blink back tears. “He said that no one would ever want me and that I didn’t deserve to be happy or have anyone love me.”
Steve put an arm around you and held you close to his chest, just allowing you to shed those tears you had been holding in.
“I’m gonna kill him.” Nat said and the others voiced their agreement.
“It doesn’t matter what's done, it's done. I just have to focus on what I’m going to do next.”
“What happened with Thor?” Steve asked.
“What do you mean?”
Nat eyed you suspiciously, in the whole conversation you had barely mentioned him. And now that she was really looking at you there was something different about you. You seemed to get a little flustered every time he was mentioned. Suddenly she gasps.
“You whore you slept with him!” She announced excitedly. You know she didn’t mean it in a negative way but you still grimaced when she jokingly called you a whore. “Tell us everything.”
“What is there to tell? We were at his place and then we slept together. I left this morning before he woke up.”
“But was it good?”
“Let’s just say 3 times and I’m gonna be walking funny.”
Nat and Sam smirked, Bucky had his mouth hanging open and Steve just looked confused.
“3 times what?”
“Oh babe.” Nat said before leaning in and telling him what you meant. Immediately Steve blushes and clears his throat as he nods.
“So What’s next?”
“I have no idea.”

A year and a half later
There was still a hint of winter cold in the spring breeze that blew gently. It was enough to make you shiver slightly even though you were dressed warmly. You weren’t standing outside of the shopping center just for the fun of it though. No you currently had a fussy 9 month only child in your arms and she had been screaming her head off just a few minutes ago. You had decided that taking a moment outside would do everyone good. As you rocked her and cooed sweet little nothings you heard an all too familiar voice, it was deep and with an accent that brought back sinful memories.
“Y/N?” Thor asked. You turned in his direction. Damn he looked good.
“Thor, Hi.”
He opened and closed his mouth a few times. Slightly at a loss for words. After you left he had tried to reach out but you were nowhere to be found. He would be lying if he said he didn’t think about you constantly. Although at the moment his concern was something else entirely.
“Is she mine?” He finally asked. It was only fair to ask, if you thought about it of course it made sense he would think that.
“Oh my god,” you chuckle as you shake your head. “No, she's my niece. We were just taking a break from the flashing lights.”
You nodded in the direction of a photography studio just behind him. There was a moment where his reaction looked like a mixture of disappointment and then relief.
“So how have you been?”
“I’m better now but to be honest I struggled a bit over the last year.” He answers. “How about you?”
“Good. Better than I thought I’d be actually. My job actually had me in Europe for a while. I just got back a few weeks ago. I think it really helped me.”
“That’s good. Are you back for good?”
“Yeah. No more galavanting around Italy for me.” You smile up at him and he returns it.
“Listen. I was wondering if-“
“Thor?” He had been cut off before he was able to finish what he was going to ask. Jane had walked up to both of you while you were distracted with each other. Her arm wrapped around his before she turned to look and smile at you. “Y/N, It’s good to see you. How have you been?”
“Great, oh I almost forgot. I never thanked you for sleeping with my husband. Best thing to ever happen to me.” So maybe you weren’t great and sometimes you were still angry about the whole thing. But you have improved immensely since first finding out all those months ago.
Thor held back his laugh, instead shaking his head and smiling in your direction. Jane stood there stunned for a second before turning her attention to Thor.
“Are you ready? We’re going to be late for our reservation.” She doesn’t wait for an answer and instead walks away from both of you.
“It’s not what you think.”
“It’s ok Thor. I should head back anyway.” You say, sounding more disappointed than you would have liked. He calls your name but you quickly make your way back into the studio.
“Hey is everything ok?” Steve asked as he made his way over to you and took his daughter.
“Yeah, everything is good.” You smile at him but it doesn’t reach your eyes and he notices. He decides to keep you occupied instead of pressuring you to tell him.
“Come on then, we want some pictures with you.”
Tumblr media
Your afternoon had been busy. After finishing up at the photography studio you and Nat went shopping. It had been fun but your mind kept thinking about Thor. You had no choice but to be honest with yourself, you knew that there had been a connection that night and you thought he felt it too. But seeing him still with Jane made you question if he had felt it or if it had been a figment of your imagination. A knock at your door stops your thoughts from spiraling anymore.
“Thor, what are you doing here?” You ask as you open the door.
“I wanted to talk to you. I think there were things that were left unsaid. I’ve already waited a year and half. I don't want to wait anymore.”
He gives you a hopeful look and his gaze is just as intense as you remember. His eyes brighten when you open the door wider and ask him to come inside. You apologize for the mess of boxes and show him to your living room.
“Do you want anything to drink?”
Thor shakes his head before taking a deep breath. You stared at him, waiting for whatever it was that he had to say.
“Jane and I, we’ve been divorced for a couple of months now.”
You stare at him, disbelief evident in your gaze.
“Today was actually the first time I’d seen her in months. She called me and asked to talk. Apparently Matt was seeing someone else. She wanted to talk about possibly working things out.”
“Then why are you here Thor?” You looked away from him, bracing yourself to be told that that night was a mistake. That he could never be with someone like you. That it was a moment of weakness on his part.
“I haven’t stopped thinking about you. Not since that night. When I woke up and you were gone I was disappointed.” You can feel his eyes on you and you finally meet it.
“I haven’t stopped thinking about you either. But Thor we were both heartbroken and looking for comfort. It just so happened that we found it in each other.”
“Come on, Dove.”
You swallow thickly at the nickname and he notices. A mischievous grin appears on his face and he moves closer to you until he can pull you up onto his lap. You’re straddling him just like you had that first night. Thor’s hands settle on your hips, and you feel him squeeze your soft curves.
“I know you felt it too.” He leans up and places a flurry of kisses on your neck and jaw while you keep your hands on his shoulders.“One chance is all I ask for. Let me take you on one date.” He looks up at you, eyes full of hope.
“As long as you don’t take me to any French restaurants.”
He laughs and you can’t help but join him.
“I’ll take you wherever you want. You just have to tell me.”
You lean down, and capture his lips with yours. It was needy and passionate. You had almost forgotten how his lips felt against yours and it felt good to get reminded of it.
“How about my bedroom for now.”
“As you wish, Dove.” He stands and you wrap your legs around his waist and point in the direction of your room.
After what happened with Matt you weren’t sure you’d ever be able to trust anyone with your heart anymore. But along came Thor who had been hurt just as you had and gave you hope. He showed you that you were still worthy of love.

CHAPTER 13
On top of the world.  That was how you felt.  High and mighty and, dare you say it, carefree.  It was not an emotion you were familiar with.  Fear had been the defining factor in all your decisions for so long that it was almost otherworldly to experience anything else.  Fear of James, of Steve; the men who would hurt you if you acted out of line.
Loki was nothing like that.  He didn’t yell at you for running down his palace halls and out into the rain, or even snatch you back inside like James would have done.  All he did was watch you from afar with those bright green eyes that made you want to shrink yourself down so you could swim in them.  Loki would not let anything happen to you.  He would not hurt or yell at or keep you locked in a cage as James did. He—
“Lady Dee?  I hate to spoil your fun, but I think it would behove us to go inside now.”  He motioned with one long finger to the palace doors, where water had begun gathering by the marble steps.  “We usually close the doors when rain falls to prevent the hallways from getting flooded out.”
You straightened at that.  Loki stood a few feet away, looking between you and the hallway.  A towel materialised in his hand.  Walking into the warm hallway from the soaking rain, it was then that you realized your dress had stuck to your body. Loki’s eyes did not once roam over your form.  In fact, it seemed as though he was trying his hardest not to.  You crossed your arms over your chest, ignoring the sensation of your hardened nipples as he placed the towel around your shoulders.  “Thank you.”
“You’re very welcome.”  The doors closed with a flick of his wrist.  “Come.”  You followed him, but not before sliding your hand into the crook of his elbow.  Loki paused in surprise.  Shock overtook you as well.  You weren’t sure why you did it.  Dancing in the rain made you feel giddy, you guessed, and Loki was such a steadying force.  Either way, it was the first time you willingly touched him, and be it intelligence or familiarity, Loki reacted perfectly.  He placed his hand on yours and continued leading you down the hall.
“Sorry about that,” you told him in reference to the rain incident.  “James never really let me go outside, and I’ve always liked the rain.  I heard it begin to fall and I just…”
“There’s nothing to apologise for.”  Loki’s lips quirked up at the ends.  “Granted, you gave me quite a fright when you took off.  I could’ve sworn a Bilgesnipe was chasing you.”
You blinked.  “What’s a Bilgesnipe?”
“They’re these primitive creatures that attack everything in sight. Big, green, and terrifying.  Not much is known about their culture.”  Loki led you around the corner.  The door of his study was in sight.  “Thor tried to keep one as a pet when we were boys.”
“Really?”
“Yes!” Loki replied, a twinkle of excitement in his eyes.  “We were about twelve and came across one in the woods.  He was smaller than usual, probably left behind from a rampage, and Thor decided it would be best to hide him in the barn with the horses.”
“You’re kidding.”  Loki gave you a look that made you giggle.  “What happened?”
“What happened is that all Bilgesnipe, no matter their size, have one true nature: to destroy.  It destroyed the entire barn and would have eaten the horses if mother had not caught on to what was happening.”  He pushed open the door of his study and allowed you first passage.  “My brother sometimes forgets—”
“My king!” Your head whipped in the direction of the soldier that appeared as though from thin air.  He hurtled down the hall, armour clanging in his rush to meet the king.  He stopped just short of the two of you and fell into a deep bow.  “My king,” his chest heaved.
“Finn,” Loki addressed the young man.  “Whatever is the matter?  Why are you running?”
“My king, we found it!  We found the shipment.”
“Well, spit it out, boy.  Tell me what was in it.”
“Lady Britta’s plan went perfectly,” Finn explained.  “She had her team strategically placed at the agreed-upon points lying in wait for the shipment.  They were easily able to ambush the Midgardians and seize the cargo.  It’s on its way to Asgard now.”
“Did anyone look inside?”  Loki ordered.  Finn nodded like a bobblehead. “What was in it?”
“Arsonias.  Hundreds of them.” Loki’s hand dropped from your own.
“Those are your mother’s plants, right?  The ones we saw in the garden?”  Loki did not answer. He seemed very far away, back stiff and wheels turning behind his jewelled eyes.  Finally, he spoke.  “Go tell my brother to meet me in the dungeons.  Now.”  The guard scurried away.  “Lady Dee.”  You looked at him.  “Go back to your rooms.”
“But—” You never got to finish your sentence.  Loki turned his back to you and opened a portal too quickly for you to do so.  You had no idea what was going on, but you knew it had to be important.  Loki told you those flowers were as dangerous as they were beautiful.  If someone on earth wanted them, you knew it was not for the aesthetic.  Therefore, you waited until Loki disappeared through the portal and entered behind him.
The room you stepped into felt like a hospital.  White walls with light flooring and some sort of force field covering what resembled a showcase in the zoos you read about.  Loki was standing in the middle of the well-lit room.  There was someone slumped in a chair before him.  You squinted… then promptly slapped a hand over your mouth.
Steve. It was Steve.
Broken and bloodied and unrecognisable, but when Loki reached out to shake his shoulder, and he popped open his lesser swollen eye, you saw those baby blues and knew.  He was covered in bruises from head to toe, his usually perfectly coiffed fair hair now rusty with blood.  Every tear in his expensive clothing revealed white skin mottled with bruises in varying stages of healing.  Even the rise and fall of his chest looked like it hurt since he shuddered with every ragged breath.
While you were thoroughly beside yourself, none of this seemed to bother Loki.  He yanked Steve’s body up by his shirt like a rag-doll, ignoring how the man fought against his actions.
“Listen to me, you Midgardian scum.”  Spittle flew from Loki’s mouth and landed on Steve’s face. You watched the battered man wince, twisting his face to an even more gruesome sight.  “I’ve found out what was in that shipment.  Tell me what you were doing with those flowers.”
Steve’s lips moved.  You were not sure what he said.  Loki shook him hard, so hard his head gave a dangerous jerk. You bit back a gasp.
“Oh, that’s right.  You can’t speak.”  Loki held up a palm.  A glass jar appeared in it, holding the perfectly preserved tongue of Steve Rogers.  It retained its pinkness well, you noted, with a mess of bloody flesh and nerves at the end previously attached to his mouth.  Somewhere in the back of your mind, you felt like this should be revolting you more.  Maybe the years of looking after your own nasty injuries had hardened you to such sights.
“I am going to give this back to you, and maybe, if you answer me, I’ll let you keep it.”  Loki snapped his fingers.  The tongue disappeared, and Steve shot up like a bolt of lightning.  “Now,” the king grabbed a fistful of bloody hair, “what were you doing with the flowers?”
“Doesn’t matter,” Steve spoke, voice rusty with disuse.  Loki’s grip tightened.
 “What doesn’t matter?”
“Doesn’t matter what you do to me.”  Steve took a harsh breath-long, deep- revealing the asymmetrical rise and fall of his once impressive chest.  “Doesn’t matter what you do to me, you bastard king.  That wasn’t the only shipment.  We’ve been bringing them in for years under your nose ever since we found out what it can do—”
Loki slapped him across the face.  His hand moved so fast you didn’t see it strike.  All you saw was Steve’s head rock to the side with a sickening snap.
God knows James had slapped you across your face enough times to figure it out.
“Where are the rest of them?  Who has them?”  Loki gripped Steve’s wrist.  “Tell me, or I’ll start cutting your fingers off one by one.”  He removed a shining knife from his waistband.  Had that… had that always been there?  Was Loki carrying a knife while he was with you in his study?  Taking you for a walk through the garden?  Catching you in his arms before you fell, holding you so close you could see a bit of stubble peeking through his smooth skin.  Even then?
“Captain Rogers.”  There was an emotion in Loki’s voice you had never heard before.  “I am not a patient man, but I believe I have exhibited more than enough with you.”  He pressed the wicked blade against Steve’s pinky finger.  “Who has the rest of the flowers?  Where are they?  What are you planning to do with them?”
Steve smirked.  “That’s a lot of question— Fuck!”  Blood spattered across the floor.  Steve pulled a hand to his chest.  Red bloomed in the centre of his tattered shirt, soaking the material in a way that finally brought your nausea to the surface.  Out of the depths of your stomach, up your oesophagus until it sat right at the back of your throat.
It wasn’t the blood.  You were used to that.  It wasn’t the scent of copper or the metallic taste in your mouth.  It was Loki, already reaching for Steve’s four-fingered hand to cut off another.
“Stop!”  you choked out.  You weren’t sure if Loki heard you, but you knew Steve did. His head whipped in your direction with the best scowl he could manage.
“You.”
Now Loki saw you.  His green eyes swung to meet your shocked ones, a hint of shame bleeding into his murderous expression. “Lady Dee.”  His grip on Steve faltered.  In no time at all, Steve wrenched out of his grasp and lunged at you.  You felt your body slam against the floor, a pair of hands wrapping around your throat.
“You little bitch!” He snarled, tightening his grip with a strength you would not expect from someone in his condition. Your hands scratched against his, nails leaving shallow slices in the pale skin.  “This is all your fault!  Bucky should have killed you when we found you!  He just had to—”
Steve was pulled off you by a sudden force.  Your hands flew to your neck, relishing in the air that rushed down your throat as you greedily gasped it all in.  There was already the tell-tale burn of future bruises.  Tears from your eyes splattered onto the blood-stained floor.  Oxygen filled your lungs, burning the starved mucosa of your throat as it forced its way in.
Through your daze, you could make out two figures scrambling over each other in the far corner.  Loki clearly had the upper hand, though Steve put up quite a fight.  His bruised hands reached for Loki’s face, scratching and lashing out in an attempt to gouge his eyes.  Loki dodged these with ease.  He knocked the soldier’s hands aside and grabbed ahold of his head.
You started.  “Lok—” Steve’s head hit the floor with a sickening crack. No blood spilled, but the force exerted would surely burst the skin should Loki continue.
And continue he did.
Over and over, slam after slam, until red blood finally spilled from the captain’s skull.  Steve had long stopped moving, body limp below his attacker’s. Loki did not seem to notice this. Or maybe he did, and just did not care.
“Loki.” A quiver entered your voice, so you cleared your throat and steadied it as best as you could.  “Loki. Stop.”
It was stupid, what you did next.  Later, you would recall it as the dumbest decision one could make in your current situation.  You approached Loki on shaky feet.  Then you put your hand on his shoulder, and his reaction made you regret it immediately.  “Loki—”
He whirled on you.  His face shimmered with blue, and his gaze flashed red before disappearing into a blur of black curls and green eyes.  You convinced yourself it was your imagination. The red splattered on his face created a stark contrast with the whiteness of his skin, and fury painted the unstained expanses.  You had never seen anger like that before.  Not even from James.  It emanated even off his very being.  Pure, unbridled rage, mixed with an air of superiority, made you wonder why you even dared to touch him-the king.
This was not the Loki you knew.  This… this was the man you had been told about.  The man used to scare you into submission before you even set foot on the Bifrost bridge.  King Loki, James would say, with a sour tone and twist of his mouth.  A ruthless king.  Next to him, I’m merciful. These punishments are nothing compared to what he would do to you if—
“Didn’t I tell you to go back to your room?”
“What?”  You were so startled by his voice that it took you a while to notice he was speaking to you.  “My room?”
“Didn’t I tell you to go back to your room!”
“Brother!”  The boom of Thor’s voice was followed soon after by his appearance.  He pointed a fist against a panel on the wall outside the cell and the shimmery veil melted to the ground.  “Brother, stop!”
You had never seen Thor so serious.  All traces of his usual goofiness were gone from his rugged face.  He strode right up to Loki, jaw set, and yanked him off Steve’s body.  “What are you doing?  And why are you speaking to Lady Dee in such a manner?”
“I—” Loki frowned.  “Lady Dee?”  His eyes snapped to you then, as if only just remembering you were there.  “Lady Dee!”  He reached a hand out to you, and every part of you recoiled.  His face fell.  “Lady Dee—”
“Stop!” You held up a trembling hand.  “Don’t come near me!”
Loki shot a helpless glance at Thor, who was kneeling on the floor trying to locate Steve’s pulse.  He had two thick fingers on the man’s neck and a look of mild concern on his face.  After a minute, he met his brother’s stare with blank eyes.
“He’s dead.”
ooOOoo
The door to Loki’s study opened with a loud squeak.  He grit his teeth at the noise and made a mental note to have the hinges oiled.
“Well,” announced Thor, “that was quite a mess, wasn’t it?”  He moved over to Loki’s stash of ale and poured himself a generous glass.  “Want a drink?”
Loki did not reply.  He had not moved from his position in his study chair since Thor deposited him there.  He stayed there while his brother dealt with the body, eyes locked on the chaise that you had both been on not an hour ago.
He could not stop thinking about you.
The trays of food and tea were still there, slightly cold and half-eaten from your late-night date.  Loki could dress it up or lie to himself as much as he wanted, but he knew in the back of his mind that was essentially what he had planned for the two of you.
It had gone well.  For quite some time, everything went better than expected.  The two of you spoke and ate and watched your plan for Sven and Erik come to fruition.  Nothing, though, compared to watching you run out into the rain like a little kid.  He had never seen such unbridled joy from a person, and he would never have expected it from you.  Never would have expected him to be the person to give you the chance.
And as quickly as he had given it, he had snatched it away.  The fondness that entered your eyes when you looked at him had now been replaced by horror.  He could not get the image of you bolting away from the scene upon Steve’s death announcement, how you recoiled from his touch.  How you visibly flinched away from him.  There was only one other person he had ever seen you so afraid of.
“Brother.”  Loki lifted his head. Thor placed a half-filled glass of ale before him and then took a seat in one of the leather chairs.  “St-The body has been removed from the cell, and the maids are cleaning it now.  I can’t be sure how many of the other prisoners saw it but, let’s be honest,” Thor flashed a smile, “who are they going to tell?”
“She’s never going to speak to me again.”  Thor made a face.
“What?”
“Lady Dee.”  Loki downed the glass of ale in one gulp.  “She’s never going to speak to me again. Not after what she saw.”
Understanding bled into Thor’s face.  “Don’t be ridiculous, brother.  The two of you have been spending a lot of time together.  Lady Dee has begun to trust you—”
“Not after this.  She’ll never look at me again, much less trust me.  Did you see how she ran away from me?  She couldn’t leave fast enough.”  Loki would not soon forget the sight of your retreating back down the corridor.  You ran so quickly that some of the jewelled pins from your hair came undone, clattering to the floor.  He was sure the maids would dispose of them soon enough.
“I’ve ruined everything.  My temper got the best of me and I… I…” he looked down at his hands, still tinged red from Steve’s blood.  “I don’t remember what happened. All I know is Finn mentioned a shipment of mother’s Arsonias, and I wanted to find out information.  I was already perturbed, but then he lunged at her, and I lost it. I just lost it.”
“You were protecting her,” Thor supplied.  “You care about her.  That much is clear.”  The blond god ran a finger around the rim of his now-empty glass.  “I was angry too when Finn told me the news.  When he said you already knew and had gone to the dungeons, I was prepared for what I would walk into.  I know your dark side well.”
“But Lady Dee does not,” Loki reminded him.  “She’s heard of it, but she’s never seen it until today.  After this, all she will remember when she thinks of me is how I cut off a man’s finger and beat his head against the floor until he stopped breathing.”
Both brothers went silent after that.  Thor contemplated upon his glass while Loki materialised a rag to scrub the remaining blood from his hands.  He had long disposed of his coat and trousers for clean ones.  Finally, Thor said, “She will forgive you, once she comes to see that you were trying to protect her.  You have become rather temperamental since mother’s demise, understandably so, but this one incident will not erase all the kindness you have shown her. Give it time, and she will come around.”
He spoke with so much finality Loki almost believed him.  It was the remnant part of his inner child that trusted his older brother never to lead him astray.  For tonight, he allowed himself to indulge in it.  “I think she saw.”  Thor lifted a brow.  “Me.  I think she saw me.  My mask slipped a bit, I think.  It’s possible she saw.”
“I will send Jane to speak with her in the morning,” Thor offered.  “She will need to speak with someone, and for the time being, it will not be you.  We will discern what she saw and handle it from there.”  He reached over to place a hand on Loki’s shoulder.  “It will be fine, brother, but other things will not.  Namely—”
“Steve’s death, I know.”  Loki threw the rag in the bin and leaned back in his chair.  “Fuck it.  There’s no way we can write to Fury and tell him the captain is dead.  With James’ mission being extended and our sudden interest in Midgard, he’ll never believe it was not of our doing.  He’ll finally have grounds to move against us.”
“No one here will speak of it, but we must do something.  I’ve arranged to have his body preserved until further notice.  Then there is the summit in a few days.”  Loki sighed deeply. The summit.  How could he have forgotten?
“He has a wife.  Her name is-”
“Lady Sharon, yes!” Thor beamed, then his smile fell.  “I’ve met her, back before I knew.  If I had, I never would have left her there.  Do you think she can help?”
“I think she will. She hates the system just as much as—”
The doors to his study flew open, causing both brothers to jump to their feet.  A sweaty-looking Finn stood in the doorway.
“Finn?” A sickening sense of deja vu crept its way up Loki’s spine.  “Whatever is the matter now?”
“Frost giants,” breathed the boy.  “Frost giants have entered the castle.”
ooOOoo
It took you a while to find your way back to your room.  Anxieties and fears from the recent events scrambled your mind and made you wander in circles down the palace halls until a guard found you sobbing in a corner.  He led you back to your room, where you promptly stripped off your wet clothes and climbed into the tub of now cold water.
You barely registered the chill as you scrubbed the blood and sweat from your skin.  Not until you dried off and slid under the covers.  Only then did your body begin to shake.  From the chill or the stress, you could not say.
All you knew was that you had never been so confused in your life, and it was all Loki’s fault.
His change in demeanour was baffling.  How one man could go from being the sweetest person to that violent, ruthless killer was beyond you.  James had long mastered covering his abusive side with pretty words and gestures that meant nothing.  All parts of James were bad sides, and the times he was good were just a pretence.  This was a fact you had always known.  But Loki was different.
His behaviour over the past few weeks had disarmed you. You began to trust him.  You began to disbelieve the stories about him, writing them off as sinister tales meant to keep you and the other women in check.  Except now, you could see it was true.  Loki was every bit as terrifying as James said, even more so now that you had seen him in action.  Which side of him was his real side?
You desperately wanted it to be the side he showed to you.   The Loki he was with you—charming and careful, looking out for you behind the scenes and ensuring you were safe.  Who took you to the gardens and let you sleep on his couch and run in the rain.  That Loki… that Loki was like no one you had ever met, but you could not ignore what you had just seen.
The copper scent of Steve’s blood still lingered in your nostrils, as did the sound of his skull slamming against the pristine white floors.  You remembered the blood staining the tile and, most importantly, how Loki ignored your pleas to stop. It was as though he were in a trance, with the only goal being to kill his opponent.
And kill he had.
What was the truth?  Was the king a decent man with a dark side, or had you softened towards a sociopath?  You were sure you’d never do the latter after encountering men like James and Steve.  You had always been able to see through whatever farce they put up.  So why is it, after seeing for yourself how dangerous Loki could be, part of you still screamed to hear him out?
Frustrated, you kicked the covers off you.  Sleep would not soon come, and neither would answers. You decided a walk would be the best way to clear your head.  Sven had the night off since you assumed you would be sleeping in Loki’s study again, so you grabbed your robe and exited your room.
The palace hall was quiet so late at night. You never noticed before since there was always someone with you to fill the silence or chase away your loneliness.  The halls felt a bit eerie all alone, with just your thoughts to keep you company.  Every corner you approached made you feel like something was going to jump out.  You kept looking behind you to see if there was anyone there.
At first, you thought it was just the day’s events, stress left over from your ordeal. Then you realised it was something else.  Your instincts, honed from all James’ abuse, were kicking in.  They were warning you that danger was near.  The hairs on your neck raised and anxiety pricked at your skin.  Something was wrong.
Before you could stop yourself, your feet began moving toward Loki’s study.  Despite everything, you knew he would keep you safe.  Jane and Darcy were not options—just as defenceless as you and both with their own issues.  Sven was probably at his mother’s, and Thor would protect you, but only out of—“Oof!”
Your sudden smack into a hard object had you falling to the floor.  The sudden movement made your head spin, and you blinked twice to clear it.  When you looked up, you gasped.
It was not the wall you expected it to be, nor a pillar hidden by the dim light.  Before you stood what could only be described as a monster.
He (at least you assumed it was a he) towered over you like a skyscraper, as tall as three Thor’s stacked upright, one on top of the other.  His skin was blue—cobalt and woven through with thick markings from head to toe.  Red eyes scanned your body, black lips pulling back to reveal sharp teeth.
“Well,” said the monster in a sinister voice.  “What have we here?”

The Fae Elements, Part 3 - Escape
Summary: Buck saves Sage from two more attacks by the Dark Overlord, deciding to take her to a hideaway known only to a handful of people.
Length: 5 K
Characters: Buck, Sage, Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, Hope, Maria, Thor, Loki.
Warnings: A misunderstanding between Hope and Buck that involves Sage, evidence of some tension between Buck and Loki.
Author notes: The image of fae Bucky was created by the author using Microsoft Copilot app in Designer mode. The woman depicted was what the AI repeatedly designed with the parameters I specified. It’s persistence in not making her more generic was trying.
<<Part 2
🌳 🪽🌕
Buck was as good as his word. A gentle knock on my door before sunrise roused me. My clothes were returned to me, but Maria assured me I could keep the tunic and leggings, reasoning it would be more comfortable for travelling. He met me for breakfast then led me to an opening to that broad valley I saw through the library window. After handing me my purse, car and apartment keys, he asked me to trust him. Just like when he carried me away from danger, Buck told me to sleep. When I awoke, I was standing in front of my building, with him at my side.
“Magic?”
He nodded. “If you don’t mind, I would like to escort you to your door, just for my own peace of mind. Your car was already brought back to your parking stall, and your apartment checked then but my people were unable to stay as there was trouble.” I frowned but he just smiled. “Do not be concerned. Shall we go up?”
The doorman greeted me but acted like Buck wasn’t there, so I assumed he had made himself invisible to everyone except me. On the elevator up to my floor I thought of something.
“Your two princes, Steve and Sam, were they invisible to the others in the courtroom?”
“No, they were visible. If anyone questioned them, they would identify themselves as lobbyists for Gaia Life. They are my eyes and ears in Washington, although I find myself here more often than not. Before the 20th century I rarely appeared in public. Since the 1950s I have been more visible, although not always recognized. I can look quite ordinary and forgettable to most mortals when I am seen.”
The elevator stopped at my floor, and I stepped off, only for Buck to touch my arm and step in front of me. He put his finger on his lips as we got closer, then looked carefully at my door.
“There is an enchantment on your door and not from one of my people. It has a burnt smell.”
I took a deep breath and could sense it, almost like walking outside and getting a whiff of smoke that smelled like sulphur. It wasn’t pleasant. Holding his hands up to my door he placed them over the seam between the door and the frame, without touching it. A glow appeared from his fingertips and sought entrance into my apartment, seeping inside. We waited as he seemed to listen then the seams glowed, and the light flowed back into his fingers.
“It’s safe to open the door but I suspect someone was inside,” he said. “Be prepared.”
Unlocking the door, I pushed it open, where the burnt smell was definitely worse. Buck stepped inside with me, and we walked into the living room. Everything seemed alright, then I saw the orchid on the carpet, its flowers snapped off the stem and scattered. With a muttering sound Buck picked it up, cradling it in his hand.
“They must have seen the card and known it was a gift from me,” he said, an incensed look evident in his eyes. “I’m more concerned that they know where you live. Did you store sensitive information here?”
“No, I left everything at the office,” I replied. “Although, my work laptop was in my briefcase. I don’t see that here. I should check the other rooms.”
He accompanied me to my bedroom, where my briefcase was open on the bed. My laptop wasn’t in it.
“Pack a bag,” he ordered calmly. “You’re not safe here. We have a safe house in Washington. Sam and Steve live there and can provide security for you. Is there someone you should contact about the laptop?”
I nodded. “My boss. I need my laptop for my court appearance today. He’ll have to file for a delay until I get the information back. Everything on it could still be in my cloud account which is encrypted.”
A tilt and small shake of his head told me that magic likely trumped any encryption that protected my work, but I had to try to save it. Placing the call on speaker while I changed into jeans and a T-shirt, I told my boss about being attacked the previous night, then my apartment being broken into, and laptop stolen. To say he was upset was an understatement. He was livid, especially that I hadn’t called the police. Buck must have been able to hear the conversation from the living room because he was suddenly in front of me and gestured for my phone.
“Mr. Larson, James Barnes of Gaia Life here,” he said, while I laced up my boots and put on a jacket. “Yes, that James Barnes. My people intervened on behalf of Ms. Hawthorne last night and we kept her safe. The decision not to call the police was mine, as we aren’t dealing with amateurs. They have eyes and ears everywhere and her location would have been compromised if we called the police in. Could you please file for a delay on Ms. Hawthorne’s court appearance today? If you can possibly protect your own servers and isolate them from the cloud you may have a chance to protect your data.” He paused as my boss said something. Looking at me with a grim smile he nodded. “My security people will see to Ms. Hawthorne’s safety, I promise. Her wellbeing is important to us. Thank you for your understanding. Good luck in protecting your data.”
Handing my phone back to me, he stepped to my closet looking for a bag, bringing it out and placing it on the bed.
“Packing, right,” I said, quickly going to my dresser and starting with the essentials, of underwear first.
“Stick with casual wear as your boss understands you won’t be in for a while,” he said. “Do you have any more hearings scheduled this coming week?”
I shook my head as other than the preliminary one today, I was supposed to focus my attention on getting more evidence against HYDRA Mining. While I packed more clothes he stood in front of the bedroom window, looking out, then turned around to me suddenly.
“We have to go, now,” he said. “They know we’re here and they’re coming.”
I shoved everything inside then grabbed my purse and stuffed it inside the bag. Placing the strap crossways over my body I tightened it so that it wouldn’t slip off. He stood in front of my door and placed his hands against it, making it glow all over, then took me by the hand and out onto my balcony. Suddenly, a set of wings appeared on his back, and he lifted me up bridal style.
“No time to put you to sleep for this ride,” he said apologetically. “Place one arm around my neck and grasp the strap on my jacket with the other, firmly. Don’t panic, don’t look down, and close your eyes if it gets to be too much.”
A pounding at the door of my apartment could be heard even out on the balcony and he stepped up onto the railing, balancing precariously on it, although he made it look easy. Just as several men with red eyes wearing dark hoodies burst through my door he leaped off and swooped down in a dive before his wings began to flap, lifting us up over the nearby buildings and away from the intruders. I watched his face as he carried me away, almost awestruck at the level of intensity he showed as he effortlessly carried me higher, into the clouds. Once we were no longer visible to the men on the balcony, he looked at me, his concern evident.
“Are you alright?” I nodded, watching only him as we soared through the sky. “You’re handling the flight well. If you become my mate, you’ll get your own wings.”
“Were you angels once?”
I blushed, thinking it was a stupid question to ask, but he smiled, seemingly amused.
“Related, but different,” he explained. “We have mates and families. They don’t as they devote their entire being to something greater. It makes some of them … grumpy. We both fight the darkness but during the troubles many of them were reluctant to protect us as they can’t hide their differences like we can. It’s a sore point for some of my kind.”
We started descending and broke through the clouds. We were still in Washington and heading towards what looked like a park on a hill. As we got closer, I could see a shimmering light that we flew through, revealing a gated mansion with a large courtyard. The two men from the courtroom, Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson, were waiting there as we landed.
“They broke in just as I set off,” said Buck, as he set me down, his wings disappearing as soon as he did. “I didn’t have time to put Sage to sleep for the trip, but she handled it well.”
“More evidence that she is to be your mate,” said Steve, receiving a warning look from Buck. “Sorry, I just think she’s the one.” This time I gave him a similar look. “Sorry, I shouldn’t be talking about you as if you’re not here when you’re standing in front of me.”
“Have our people recovered her laptop data?” Bucky asked before turning to me. “You already sensed we can telepathically communicate with each other. I passed on the information about your laptop going missing.”
“Yes, our operative was at your office, helping your tech people access it,” said Sam. “She thought she recovered almost everything. We’ve also confirmed that the attackers last night were connected to Rumlow. He’s a dark fae, who works for HYDRA Mining and their lawyer, who you faced in the hearing yesterday.”
“Pierce,” I said. “There was a dark-haired man with him yesterday, who looked quite intimidating. My assistant said he was one of their high-ranking executives.”
“That’s Rumlow,” confirmed Buck. “He’s likely the one who sent the attackers to your apartment.”
“Are we safe here?” I asked, suddenly feeling vulnerable out in the open like we were.
“Very but not completely,” replied Buck, then he looked at the two princes. “Call in more security and have them onsite here.”
“Already on their way from the stronghold,” said Sam. “That’s where you were last night.”
I nodded, realizing that part was for me. With his hand lightly on my back, Buck guided me inside the mansion. It was an incredible place, like something out of a beautiful homes' magazine, full of light. A dark-haired woman came out from a doorway.
“Hope, this is Sage Hawthorne,” he said. “She was attacked last night by some of the Horde. They attacked again at her apartment this morning, but I was able to bring her here. Can you show her to a room?”
“You’re the daughter of Fern and Matthew,” she stated, glancing at my necklace. “As a descendant of Lilith, are you to be mated with our king?”
“No,” he spoke immediately. “I made the offer, but she rejected it and I respect her reasons.”
“Then I don’t understand why she is here,” replied the woman, looking surprised. “If she has rejected the offer and you’ve accepted that, then she is no longer your concern. She opens herself up to the Dark Overlord, to be aligned with the dark fae.”
Buck looked concerned at being questioned by the woman, as if he wasn’t in command. She apparently wanted some sort of explanation. He turned to me.
“Sage, you can be turned if the Horde take you to their master,” he said. “Forgive me for not telling you. The ritual that I described to you can be used by both light and dark fae, although their ritual has darker aspects to it. If you will not be my mate, then I must make sure that you don’t become the mate of the Dark Overlord.” He looked meaningfully at Hope. “I would not wish their ritual on anyone. Sage is under my protection. Once the summer solstice has passed her magic can be scattered to the winds and she will be safe for all time.”
“That’s a month away,” I replied. “You were going to keep me a prisoner until then?”
“No, of course not. I was going to keep you safe as best I could. I meant what I said about respecting your decision not to be my queen. The Dark Overlord would not. He would force you to mate with him, binding you and your power to him. You would have no free will with him, being only a conduit for his power and lust.”
“Unlike you,” I said, a little sarcastically, making him frown.
“I would never force you.” His eyes seemed to blaze with a blue light. “If you had accepted me, I would freely share my power with you, and help you develop your own. You would be at my side, not under my heel. It would be a life well lived. Since you refused my offer, I wished only to keep you safe until the danger to you passed.”
“A gilded cage is still a cage,” I replied. “Even if it’s only for a month.”
He shook his head, then watched as Hope led me up the grand staircase. She didn’t say anything as we ascended the stairs, before opening the last door before a set of double doors at the end of a hallway. As I stepped inside, she didn’t leave right away. Instead, she once again looked at my necklace, as if it meant something to her.
“Would you rather the king leaves you to be taken by the Horde? Is that how you repay what he sacrificed for your mother and father?”
I dropped my bag off on the bed and walked up to her.
“What are you talking about?”
She smiled sadly. “He never breathed a word about it, did he?” She looked out the door for a moment then closed it. “You know he wished to court your mother, but she and your father had already sealed their marriage, giving their hearts and souls to each other. After meeting them, he knew he couldn’t interfere in their love even though it was within the powers of his magic to do so. Instead, he used his own life force to keep them hidden from the Horde and their master. The chances of them having a daughter with the gift was high so he hid your family, dampening your mother’s gift, and likely yours so neither of you were targeted. The Dark Overlord would have had no problem slaying your father and taking her for his own. You saw the king at the funeral of your father, when he should have been visible only to your mother.”
“Yes, I saw him. I still don’t understand.”
“Because his spell protected your mother and any girl children, he should have sensed your powers, but he didn’t. It’s likely your powers were latent, only appearing after a time of great emotion, the death of your father. When they were noticed, at the moment he was aware you could see him, it would be like a beacon from a lighthouse, shining in the night, as bright as the moon, visible not just to him but to any fae king or overlord, light or dark. Did the king give you a gift?”
“Yes, he left an orchid in my apartment that night,” I replied. “It was beautiful. Whoever broke into my place destroyed it.”
Taking my hand in hers, she squeezed it. “The orchid was a talisman, to mark you as under his protection. The king is right to protect you. He’s the only one who will respect your autonomy. Believe that. Why did you reject his offer?”
I looked away, unsure about whether to answer but she demanded to know again.
“Because he didn’t offer his love,” I said. “I want a love as great as what my parents had, but he said he was incapable of it.”
“Of course he would say that.” She shook her head again. “He probably believes it. But he does have feelings for you. It’s why he’s protecting you. By the laws of our kind, he offered you marriage and you rejected him. As king he had the right to enchant you to accept him, but he didn’t because that’s not the type of fae he is. To enchant a descendant of Lilith into accepting him would be an insult to her legacy. He wants you but on your terms.”
“How do you know this? Are you a descendant of Lilith?”
She smiled. “Yes, I am but I also know him very well. I am his daughter. My mother was his last wife, Daere. He told you of her, didn’t he?”
I nodded, remembering the sadness in his eyes as he briefly explained what happened to her. There was so much more to their story, as Hope told me how her mother and father ruled side by side. But when Daere’s aging mortal sister was accused of witchcraft, they were unable to rescue her in time. She was hung and it broke his wife’s heart. A year later she had completely faded away, and Buck retreated from the world of men for more than 150 years. It was more information that provided the missing pieces of the fae king as it seemed Buck didn’t want to influence me one way or another.
Hope tilted her head slightly and stood up, having received a telepathic message. “Lunch has been prepared. Please join us.”
We went down that grand staircase and into a large dining room. There were half a dozen people there and apparently a half dozen more who were patrolling the property. I recognized Maria again from the stronghold and received a smile from her in return. Buck approached me, offering me his hand.
“Are you alright?”
I glanced at Hope. “Better, now that I have more information.”
“I didn’t want to inundate you with too much.” He kissed my hand. “I will try not to keep anything more from you.” He turned to the others. “You already met Maria, Steve and Sam. These two princes are Thor and Loki. They are from the Norwegian kingdom of our larger fae population.” I raised my eyebrows at their names, associating them with the Norse gods. Buck nodded his head understanding my reaction. “They are one and the same.”
Thor stepped forward, taking my hand in his large grip and kissing it gently. “Lady Sage, you are very much like your mother. I am sorry for your loss. Your father was a good friend to many in the fae world.”
“I’m not privy to what he did, other than Buck held him in the highest regard,” I replied. “Perhaps you can tell me more at lunch.”
“It would be my pleasure.”
His voice rumbled deeply, sounding like distant thunder and I wondered if he had been there at the time I was first attacked, remembering the sound of thunder in the distance. As if he read my mind, he smiled and winked. Loki was suddenly in front of me, his approach so stealthy that I stepped back in surprise. He also touched my hand, raising it to his lips, but his touch felt cooler, almost icy. Although he spoke kindly to me, I had the sense his words were for show.
“Your power is evident, Ms. Hawthorne. Our king is right to keep you under his personal protection for you would be a powerful addition to either side of the fae.”
I glanced at Buck, who said nothing, but his jaw was clenched in a way that I could see a muscle just above his jaw twitch. There was an undercurrent of uneasiness at either Loki’s words or the man himself. Slowly, I withdrew my hand from his, and stepped closer to Buck, hopefully indicating my preference to associate myself with him. Loki just tilted his head and stepped back, seemingly unperturbed. The last person stepped forward, a petite woman with long reddish hair. Although I didn’t get a good look at her before I was pretty sure she was the woman who descended upon the men who attacked me, and I brought it up.
“I am Wanda,” she replied. “I was there.” She glanced at my neck. “You took advantage of the fae healing pools, I see. The Horde are not subtle in their touch.”
I raised my hand to it instinctively but said nothing. Maria led us all to the dining room then left to coordinate the serving of lunch. I watched her leave, wondering at her role, since this was the third different place I had seen her in.
“She’s not a servant,” said Buck, leaning close to me. “In many ways she’s like a concierge or a personal assistant, handling all sorts of tasks for us that require a more human presence.”
The door to the kitchen banged open and Maria rushed out.
“We have reports of a contingent of the Horde massing outside the barrier. I don’t know how they knew about this place. It shouldn’t have been possible for them to detect it. Our people outside are preparing for an attack.”
Thor stood up immediately. “Loki and I will go assist them.” He looked at Buck. “I think it’s time you and Lady Sage went underground. If you are as prepared as our king, you have places to hide that even your own people don’t know about. I would suggest you go there.” Offering his forearm to the king he placed his other hand on Buck’s shoulder. “Go, take Lady Sage to safety. All of us here will hold off the Horde.”
Taking my hand Buck led me to the grand staircase. Hope followed us as the others went outside to fight against the intruders. We stopped at my room to pick up my bag then went out to a rooftop terrace. Booming sounds from the perimeter of the property reverberated back to us.
“They’re throwing all sorts of spells on the barrier,” said Hope. “They could break through. Father, you have to go.”
“I should at least tell you where,” he replied, looking at his daughter with concern.
“No, if I don’t know, I can’t tell them.” Her eyes teared up as she glanced at me. “Allow yourself to love again. Mother would want it.”
They hugged and she stepped back a considerable distance as he focused on me, while his wings materialized.
“Stand very close to me, hug me,” he ordered. “We’ll fly eventually, but my wings will protect you as we teleport.” I looked up at him, surprised. “It’s a quicker way and leaves less of a trail to track. We’ll teleport several times until I’m sure we’re clear. Close your eyes if you get dizzy as it can be confusing if you’re not used to it.”
Doing as I was told I pressed myself into his body, feeling the warmth radiating from him as I wrapped my arms around him. His wings enclosed me, and I looked up in time to see him relax and close his eyes. The sky disappeared and we were in a roaring tunnel of wind, light, and sound. Even though he said to close my eyes, I held him tighter and peeked out from where my head was pressed into his chest. Then it suddenly stopped, and we were on a beach, somewhere in the tropics. He opened his eyes and looked down at me.
“You alright?”
A rushing sound made him aware of another teleportation in process but before he could send us on another leg, it stopped, and a person appeared, one of the Horde, based on his red eyes. Stepping in front of me, Buck reacted to the flash of a sword, as the weapon was swung at him. He produced his own sword out of thin air and advanced on the man. As they fought, I could hear another teleport in process as the rushing sound grew louder. When it stopped Loki was there and he immediately drew his own sword, calling to Buck.
“Take her,” he called. “I’ve got this one.”
Rushing towards the pair he inserted himself into the fight, enough so that Buck could return to me and enclose me again in his wings. Instantly, we were transported, landing on a cargo ship in the ocean. Without stopping he teleported again and this time we arrived on a country road in the middle of a rainstorm.
“Last one!”
Buck teleported once more, and we ended up on a path in a forest. Drawing me into the shadows of several large trees we waited for some time, then he listened, closing his eyes for several long moments.
“I think we shook them,” he said, looking at me. “There’s no sign of any teleportation disturbances nearby.” He looked up at the sky. “We’ll have to walk a bit until we get to the barrier but once we pass through it, we can fly the rest of the way. It won’t be for long.”
Offering to take my bag, we started walking along the trail. It wasn’t a well-worn path, but it was noticeable. It made me wonder if others used it. I cleared my throat to ask but Buck spoke.
“It’s used by wildlife,” he said. “We’re pretty deep in a large forest preserve, surrounded by several different waterways. I stayed here before and have kept a sizeable portion hidden with magic. The animals are the only ones who use this as they aren’t corruptible, not like people.” He looked at me. “When we get to the boundary, you’ll have to hold my hand to cross.”
“We’ll be alone?”
“Yes. It’s a sanctuary.” He stopped, then took a breath. “This is where I came with my daughter after Daere died. I stayed here in mourning, alone for about 150 years give or take a few times when my attention was required elsewhere.” He started walking then stopped again. “They shouldn’t have found us in Washington, but they did. Either they found a way to track us, or someone betrayed us. Do you have your cell phone?”
“Yeah, but it’s dead. I forgot to bring my charging cord and it was dead when you gave me my purse at the stronghold.”
“Show me.”
Taking my bag from him, I opened it up and pulled my purse out, opening it. He took my cell phone from me and held it in the palm of one hand while placing the other over it. For a few moments it glowed then he nodded his head and handed it back.
“It wasn’t your phone as it was dead before it was brought to the stronghold. Which means it was a person.”
“Does anyone know about this place we’re going to?”
“My children and a couple of others,” he answered. “It’s not them.”
“Maybe they want you out of the way so they can be king or queen,” I said.
“It doesn’t work that way, not for the fae world. Candidates are selected and meet in a sacred place where a sacred tree picks one to be king or queen. I was chosen over four others. If any of the other’s objected, they would have been cast out for the tree’s choice is said to be sacred.”
“Do you know who the others were?”
“Yes, you met Loki. The others were from other families in this kingdom, and they publicly accepted the decision. Even though Loki’s family’s kingdom is in Norway the sacred tree sometimes chooses from elsewhere. It brings new bloodlines in. If I had faded away after Daere died there would have been a new choosing. Sometimes I’m surprised I didn’t fade away. I grieved for a long time.” He sighed then picked up my bag and began walking again. “The Dark Overlord is a dark fae and he is behind this. He covets your power.”
We reached a clearing and Buck handed my bag back to me, to sling over my shoulder. Taking my hand, he walked slowly forward, keeping me close. The scene shimmered and glowed then we were through what I assume was the boundary, although it looked the same inside. Picking me up once more he launched himself into the sky and we flew for about half an hour, before he swooped in among some more trees and we landed in front of a very rustic but pretty cottage with moss on the roof. He looked up at it for several long moments with a soft but sad expression on his face.
“I built this, with my own two hands, after Daere died,” he said quietly. “This is where I lived with Hope while I grieved her. Only my children and some trusted friends have been here. You’re one of only a few mortals to even be within the boundary. There is only one bed now, but I will sleep on the sofa and honour your autonomy for as long as we are here, Sage. You have my word.”
Well, this was going to be interesting. So far, Buck had made a lot of effort to keep me safe. Although he hadn’t lied to me, I was certain there were things he hadn’t told me. Whether it was privileged information, or he was keeping me safe by limiting my knowledge of his world didn’t really matter. I trusted him and felt safe in this isolated hideaway. My only real concern was that being in close proximity to him, and only him, might result in my own feelings becoming more than trust. If I fell in love with him, the possibility of living an extended and privileged life with him was appealing. His courtship of me, might become something much more permanent.

Frozen: State Hockey
“Hey Mom, do we have another ticket for State?” You ask as you pack your suitcase to head home. High school state hockey tournament has been a family tradition for over 30 years at this point and you’re really hoping to bring Thor. You’d love for him to meet your family, or most of it, and for them to meet him.
“Yea, for all three days why?“
“I’d like to bring my boyfriend.” You tell her and you’re met with silence on the other end.
“Your, you’re dating someone?” She asks sounding surprised, which is fair because you haven’t really talked about Thor to your family. They could be a bit, much, sometimes.
“Yea, we’ve kept it pretty quiet but I’d like to bring him if that’s okay.”
“We’d love that. Can he get a plane ticket that quickly?”
“He should be able to.” You won’t tell her that you’d already bought tickets for both of you and that if there hadn’t been a ticket for him you’d have figured it out when you got there.
Thor picks you up the next morning far too early but you’d wanted to take the early flight and get home so you didn’t have to rush directly to the games.
It’s an uneventful flight, you’d been a little irritated that Thor had secretly upgraded your tickets to first class but you can’t deny that it’s more comfortable, especially for him and his long ass legs. You’d played a couple rounds of cribbage then curled up next to him to sleep.
When you’d landed you’d texted your older sister to let her know you’d be out soon, Diana and her husband Bruce were letting you and Thor stay with them so you didn’t have to stay at your parents. She meets you at the pick up with a big hug and then she sees who your boyfriend is.
“Holy shit.” She whispers, “you’re dating Thor Odinson?”
“Yes. Be cool.” You hiss back and she laughs,
“I’m always cool.” She says with smile then she reaches a hand out for Thor. “Hi I’m Diana, Moxie’s much more fun older sister.” You roll your eyes and Thor chuckles.
“It’s a pleasure. I’m Thor Odinson.”
“Alright let’s go before someone gets pissed we’re taking too long.” You say popping open the trunk and shoving your smaller bag inside. Thor grabs your suitcase before you have a chance to and puts it in the trunk before doing his too.
The ride to Diana and Bruce’s is comfortable, Thor had insisted on sitting in the back so you could chat with Diana but you make sure he’s involved in the conversation.
Bruce isn’t fazed by Thor at all. But being a billionaire since birth has granted him the opportunity to know other professional athletes and celebrities. You hang out, have dinner then head for bed.
“So,” Thor says as you get ready for bed, “were you going to tell me your brother in law is Bruce Wayne?”
“Nah, I also didn’t tell my family that my boyfriend is Thor Odinson.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re more than just your famous name.” You tell him with a shrug and he curls a hand around the back of your head pulling your lips to his.
“That,” he mutters, “may be the sexiest thing you’ve ever said to me.” You laugh softly then click off the light and snuggle in next to him.
You leave right away in the morning for family breakfast. It’s always at the hotel that’s across the street from the arena. Your mom’s brain seems to freeze when she sees and recognizes Thor. But your family, luckily, doesn’t make a huge deal about him.
“This is strange.” Thor says as you walk into the arena through the front doors, “I’ve never come in this way.”
“No player entrance for you.” You tell him with a smile. He’s holding your hand, one of the first times you’ve done so in a public place like this. A couple of younger fans recognize who he is and if they approach quietly Thor gives them an autograph or a photo but if they’re obnoxious about it he declines.
Your family has a box now, Bruce had thrown some money at the tournament a few years back and you’re grateful for it because it allows Thor to relax a bit and really enjoy the games. Your family always picks teams to cheer for, you like to do the underdogs while Diana does the team with the stats on them. Thor picks based off of the first half of the first period which proves to be an effective strategy.
On the last night, with the third place and championship game you decide to go to the Golden Puck, a sit down restaurant in the arena, with Thor to eat. You go to the bathroom and on your way back you’re stopped,
“Well, well, wondered if I’d see you here.”
“Excuse me, you’re in my way.” You say to Carl you don’t want to deal with him.
“Yea? Well I’m talking to you.”
“Give it a rest Carl. I’m not interested in dealing with your bullshit.” You tell him looking past him and making eye contact with Thor whose eyes darken as he stands up. “You should probably move, Thor looks pissed.”
“I don’t give a fuck. You owe me-,”
“She doesn’t owe you shit.” Thor’s voice is low and tight, “now, move out of her way before you cause a scene.” Thor says stepping into Carl’s way and ushering you past the two of them.
“Oh, so I see how it is.” Carl sneers, “you’re a little Puck slut.” You grab Thor’s hand you don’t want him to get into trouble with Carl.
“Let’s go. Let’s go.” You murmur and thankfully Thor doesn’t fight you. Instead, he curls an arm around your shoulders and leads you down a hallway.
“You okay?” He asks you quietly and you nod.
“I hate him so much.” You bury your face in his chest and Thor wraps his arms around you. “We were having such a good weekend.”
“I still am. I’m not going to let that ass ruin the good time. Please don’t let him ruin yours either.” You take a deep breath and nod then step away from him,
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For having my back, sticking up for me and knowing what to say to get me out of my head.”
“Moxie that’s what a good partner does. That’s just in the description.” He tells you kissing you softly.
“How are you even real.” You whisper and he laughs.
“I made mistakes in my marriage to Sif. I’ve learned from them and they’ve made me a better man.” You rest your head against his chest and sigh softly.
“Oh my god. We didn’t pay!” You cry pulling away from Thor suddenly and he laughs softly.
“I left more than enough on the table Kattunge.” You blink at him then and he presses a soft kiss to the side of your head as he slips his fingers between yours.
“Thank you.”
“You have nothing to thank me for.”
“I meant for dinner.”
“I meant you have nothing to thank me for.” He repeats with a smile pressing a kiss to the back of your hand.
You head back to the box where Diana is scowling and Bruce looks annoyed and has an ice pack on his hand.
“What happened?”
“Carl came by. Wouldn’t leave so Bruce punched him in the face and security escorted him out.”
“Wish I’d punched him in the face.” Thor grumbles, “Moxie wouldn’t let me.”
“He’s going to sue Bruce so I’m glad you didn’t.” You tell Thor and Bruce grins at you.
“He can’t sue me. Diana goaded him, he pushed me. It was self defense. I have cameras.” He says smirking over at you.
“Oh my god.”
“How long has he been harassing you?” Diana asks and when you give a noncommittal shrug Thor answers for you,
“Every time he sees her since the start of the season.”
“That needs to stop.”
“He hasn’t threatened me, he’s just an asshole. Can we stop talking about this? I want to enjoy the championship game.” Diana opens her mouth to argue but when she sees the look on your face she closes it and sighs.
You don’t talk about Carl again. Thank god. Thor ends up winning the family pool, much to both Bruce and Diana’s disappointment but you’re thrilled. Bruce has won the last two years and you’re so glad that he can’t brag for another year.
“I expect to see the trophy at Thor’s in less than a week.” You tell Bruce as you walk out of the arena.
“Trophy?” Thor asks and you grin up at him.
“Trophy.”
“Fine. Leave your address and I’ll send it.” Bruce grumbles and you laugh softly. When you get back to the house you go to bed, Thor wraps his arm around your waist and slides you flush against him.
“Thank you for inviting me. I had a great time.”
“I’m glad. I’m happy you could come.” You whisper back. Thor presses a soft kiss to your nose and you laugh. “I think you missed.”
“A rarity.” He teases and you hum softly, “let’s see if I can do better this time.” He says before pressing a kiss to your lips.
Much better.
🏒🏒🏒
This is a series of one shots. If you have any suggestions or ideas for Thor and Moxie please let me know.

Bucky almost seems the same with the exception in the way he carries himself. Once confident and jovial, he’s become more quiet and humble. Someone who would rather spend his time in the outskirts of a party than in the middle of it all.
It explains why you hadn’t seen him until now. He waited for everyone to be gone before coming down.
“You really haven’t changed,” Bucky states once you receive your drinks. He motions for you to take a seat at the bar and so you do. “You look exactly the same as the first time I met you.”
“I’m pretty sure I was covered in mud and grime when we first met,” you recall. “So I would consider this an upgrade.”
“Right,” Bucky lets out a short laugh. “But still, it’s nice to see that some things haven’t changed.”
“Yeah,” you sigh. “Steve was relieved when he saw me again. It helped him to have some piece of his life back even though everything was turned inside out and upside down for him. I assume it’s the same for you after… well, after what you’ve been through.”
Bucky goes silent and stares into his drink solemnly.
“We don’t have to talk about that,” you offer up to him. “I’ve heard enough and you don’t need to relive any of those details. I’m just happy that chapter of your life is over.”
“Cheers to that,” Bucky mutters, clinking his glass with yours before taking a drink. “So, onto livelier topics, how about, uh, we talk about you?”
“Please don’t tell me you want to know my true age.”
“That is actually the only thing I wanted to know,” Bucky jokes. “Rude? I know, but I just…”
You shove him but Bucky doesn’t move an inch.
“I’m older than you and that’s all you need to know.”
“Ok,” Bucky nods. “And you’re… Steve said half-human, half-Asgardian?”
“Yes,” you answer. “A demi-god to make it simpler.”
Bucky takes a second to register the information.
“Huh, after all I’ve been through I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around that.”
“Yeah, being in the presence of a God tends to render people speechless.”
“No, it’s not that exactly. It’s more about the fact that I was dating one that’s blowing my mind.”
“Well, dating seems like a reach…”
“Please don’t ruin this for me,” Bucky interrupts, causing you to laugh at the growing blush on his cheeks. “This is the peak of my existence. Nothing I ever do or have done will outshine this moment in our history. A rascal of a boy from Brooklyn having dated the daughter of Aphrodite herself.”
“Ever the flirt, Barnes,” you giggle. “ I never really stood a chance against you.”
There’s a silence that follows. It’s comfortable at first, but you both inevitably look away. As if you both realize how easy it was to fall back into old ways but how unfamiliar the motions felt now.
Bucky’s hand reaches for yours and you go still. You hadn’t realized you had been fidgeting with the half-empty glass.
“We might look the same but we’re completely different now, huh?”
There is a sudden wave of grief that lapses over you. It takes you by surprise seeing as he’s still right next to you. You feel the warmth of his hand and watch his chest rise and fall with each breath. He’s not gone, but you lost him all the same.
“I’m sorry,” you apologize to him. “It seems like the passing of time has indeed taken another victim.”
“I know,” he whispers as he lets your hand go. “I’m just an echo of the man I was back then.”
“It’s not you,” you sigh. “It’s me.”
You half-smile at him and lean into the palm of your hand.
“I’ve always kept you at a distance. For your sake, but mainly for mine. I… I can admit now that I was selfish with you. I was lonely and afraid of my mortality and I needed a way out of that and it was you. You are…”
There is a knot in your throat but you fight through it
“You are a light, Bucky. In the darkness I was in, you were the light at the end of that very long tunnel. That hasn’t changed and it will never change. So thank you for sharing that glow with me in the time I needed it the most.”
“I think that’s the nicest thing I’ve ever been told in my entire life,” Bucky answers breathlessly. “Always know how to punch the air out of my lungs.”
“It’s the truth,” you tell him.
“I sense a but coming though…”
“No, there is just an apology left to say because I am sorry that we can’t pick up where we left off. At the moment you need some light of your own, I can't be that for you.”
Bucky smiles in response, “I never expected us to return where we left off. I have too much baggage and I’m sure you’ve moved on from me a long time ago.”
“I-” you stammer out. “I mean-”
You don’t know why your gaze shifts toward the balcony and you go silent when you realize that it's empty now.
Where did Loki go?
You can’t help but search for him and find him speaking to his brother before making his way out.
“Buck, I’m sorry, but I have to go…”
Bucky is quick to notice where you focus has gone to and simply smiles once again.
“Go,” he tells you. “You should go.”
“Thank you. I’ll explain everything later,” you promise him as you get out of your seat.
“I prefer you didn’t,” he jokes. “But seriously, go. I’ll tell everyone you had to leave.”
You whisper your gratitude again before slipping away from the room. You don’t miss the smirk Natasha gives you as you run down the hallway. You watch as the elevator doors are closing and shout for Loki to hold them.
He doesn’t.
It doesn’t matter though as you manage to slip through the closing elevator doors.
“Well that’s awfully rude of you,” you say as you try to catch your breath. “No wonder people think you’re unapproachable.”
Loki just glares at you, “What are you doing?”
“Chasing after you if it isn’t obvious,” you answer. “You left without saying goodbye to me.”
“I didn’t realize I had to.”
His demeanor is cold and you wonder how you manage to fall back onto square one.
“I wish you had,” you tell him. “Save me from running after you in these heels.”
Loki’s scowl doesn’t soften, instead he breathes out of his nose loudly.
“What are you doing here?” he asks. “You were clearly enjoying your time with the soldier. Why are you here with me now?”
“Because you-” you whisper trying to figure out why your mouth has suddenly turned dry. “Because we…”
You don’t know how to put what you’re feeling into words. It was as if you were being pulled into a riptide. Just being pulled and dragged in all different directions. This was all so new to you. Staying instead of running away.
“Because I don’t want this night to end,” you answer. “So I thought we could um- go get dinner maybe?”
“Dinner?” Loki asks in surprise.
“Yeah, dinner,” you repeat. “I know this taco truck two blocks away.”
“Tacos?”
“Loki, why are you repeating everything I say?”
“Because I’m trying to make sense of what’s happening.”
The doors to the elevator open and Loki sighs before moving to leave. You’re quick to block him.
“What are you doing now?”
“I’m trying to talk to you and you’re shutting me down so I’m really doubting what I’m actually doing right now because I really thought we had something going but maybe I read everything wrong. Oh God, now I’m mortified.”
You step away and allow Loki his much desired departure.
He takes a step forward and stops right in front of you. You’re afraid to look up but you can feel his gaze settled on you.
The elevator doors close again and he’s quick to push the lobby button.
“Tacos, you said?”
“Yeah,” you whisper when you finally muster the courage to look up at him. The scowl is gone and his face has softened once more. “Yeah and maybe we could um… we can talk about Asgard.”
“Just Asgard?” he repeats with a grin.
“Yeah, Asgard,” you answered with a laugh. “We can talk about Asgard and more of our childhood traumas and…”
“Can I just kiss you now?”
“Yes, please.”
Loki’s delicate as he pulls your face up and presses his lips on yours. The tension that was all over your body disappears as you realize this was exactly what you were looking for. You melt into him and he’s quick to hold you upright as his lips continue to dance upon yours.
He pulls away too soon for your liking but he doesn’t go too far. You feel his nose bump against yours. His warm breath fanning over your face.
“What are you waiting for?” you whisper. “Kiss me again.”
Loki just sighs as he tucks some loose strands away.
“Just let me admire you,” he answers. “I thought I would never get to have you like this.”
He laughs quietly.
“I was trying to be selfless, you know.”
“You were?” you ask surprised.
“I saw you with… Bucky and I couldn’t intrude in your happiness.”
“He’s just a friend,” you explain to him. “I am happy to see him but it’s a different kind of happiness.”
“And what do you feel about me?”
The elevator doors open and you can’t help but step out onto the lobby. Loki’s quick to follow after you, pulling off his coat with the intent of placing it over your shoulders before you step outside.
“I can tell you more about my feelings on the way to the taco truck,” you tell him. “Or maybe…”
“Maybe what?” Loki asks as he catches up to you. His coat is placed on your shoulders before he opens the door.
“Maybe I can show you.”
You’re quick to push up on your toes and place a chaste kiss on his lips before grabbing his hand and leading him down the road.
“So about that trip to Asgard,” you begin. “How soon can we go?”
“We could go now if you desire.”
“Later,” you tell him as you look up at the distant stars. “I wanna stay here a little longer.”

Last Minute Encounters
Tumblr media
Summary: The owner of the bake shop in your new neighborhood is a little over-friendly.
Warnings: Nothing to worry about but Thor is a warning himself.
Characters: Dark!Baker!Thor x F!Reader
A/N: Thor is one of the men I truly adore. Hence, I made a drabble to honor him especially since today is his day. Thor’s Day lmao. This plot has also been sitting in my drafts for a while and I felt that maybe this is the right time to introduce Baker!Thor into the world. (gif not mine)
As always, even if this is simply a drabble, your feedback is highly appreciated. Reblogs would be amazing as well for it will help my work flourish. May you guys have a great day ahead and of course, I hope you enjoy this! ❤️

A sigh of relief escapes you when you see the open sign of the bakery still glowing into the night. Pulling your puffer tighter around your waist, you look at both sides before crossing the road, the sound of the heels of your boots clacking against the asphalt bouncing off through the empty street. You take slow steps, careful not to slip against the icy floor but once you reach the other side, you see the sign close, your heart beating fast in panic as you race towards the door.
“Please—” You say as you stand by the entryway, coming face to face with a burly man, golden hair held up in a bun with strands falling from the sides, with a stubble to match his features. He wears an apron over a red plaid shirt and with the way he looks at you, you see his eyes a striking blue.
“Can I help you?” He asks when he opens the door, his voice low yet full like thunder.
“Do you still have any cakes I can purchase?” Your voice shivers as you speak, the cold slowly seeping through your jacket. “Or anything, really. I just need something to bring to a party.”
Heat crawls up your neck and scatters on your cheeks when you see him give you a once over, a smirk slowly playing on his lips. He’s much bigger up close and you can’t help but feel intimidated by his size, making you feel even smaller. He swings the door open and holds out an arm, a gesture for you to come in.
The warmth of the shop is a welcome aura against the blistering cold outside, yet you feel a slight chill run up your spine with how the man’s eyes linger, keeping them on you as he rounds the counter.
“I only have cupcakes and cookies left. But if you really want a cake, I have a chocolate one at the back.”
“I’ll take it.” You say almost in a hurry, blushing at the amused look the man gives you. “I’ll take the rest of your cookies as well.” You add. “The least I can do after allowing me in.”
“Very well.” He hums and taps against the register, giving you your total after. “You can tap your card when you’re ready—I’ll just grab the cake.”
You nod at his instructions and watch him disappear from the double doors that lead to the back. Taking your credit card from your wallet, you press it against the device, waiting for the beep before stowing it back.
You’ve never really had the chance to go around the neighborhood when you moved in a week ago. The task to find anything to bring for a potluck party of your co-worker proved to be a struggle, being all too new and different from the town you grew up in, the sullen wasteland you escaped from.
The bakery has always been one of the places you’ve wanted to go to. Hearing your neighbors rave about the pastries and treats they purchase for their morning coffee when they catch you at the mail room and corner you into an unwanted conversation. Though, you wouldn’t say such an exchange is meaningless, for, without the information they gave, you wouldn’t have known about this place.
You look up when you hear the swoosh of the doors, the man holding a box in his hand, a transparent container with a lone cupcake inside sitting atop it. He places the box on the counter then slides open the display, taking the last 6 cookies on the tray and sliding them into a transparent bag, before tying a gold and red ribbon around it.
“Will that be all, cupcake?” He asks and you startle at the name he’s called you.
“Uhh—yes.” You mumble. “Thank you.” Your eyes then dart to the cupcake atop the cake then look up at him with utter curiosity. “I didn’t buy this.”
“On the house. Salted Caramel Cupcake—my favorite. You should try it.” He grins then places the bag of cookies over the box of the cake, holding a card out to you after. You take it. “I’m having a soft launch for my new item.” He announces out of the blue. “I’d be happy to have you come by and taste it. I know you’re new around here and it would be a nice welcoming event for you.”
You’re curious as to how he knows that, but you don’t pay it much mind. The neighborhood is small and you don’t doubt he knows almost everyone around, and you’re the new face in town. You swallow thickly at his invitation, the grin on his lips looking overly friendly. “When is it?” You ask if only to be polite.
“Next week. Sunday.”
“I-I’ll check my schedule.” You smile, although it doesn’t reach your eyes. “Thank you again—” You try to look for his name tag but see none.
“Thor. The owner.” He supplies before gesturing at the box. “You need help taking this to your car?”
“No, thank you. Just walking.” You volunteer. “Party isn’t far from here.”
“Very well.” He rounds the counter when you grab your purchase, walking with you to the door and opening it, shivering as the winter chill blows inside the shop. “It was nice meeting you, cupcake. I hope to see you again.”
You cringe when he says the pet name again, mumbling your thanks as you walk out of the shop. You scurry to the other side of the street, making your way to the apartment of your co-worker. The calm and measured steps you’d usually take when walking during the winter become brisk and hurried as you sense Thor’s burning gaze at the back of your head.
Your suspicions are confirmed when you look back as you round the corner and see him still standing outside his shop, staring at you from the street.

First art post!
I'm still working on this calendar/magnum opus. Every month features a pinup of Baker!Thor (from my human AU where he is a big happy man who finds love at work) with a different theme.
This theme is about how people often want to change things in the beginning of the year. And it's always good to take care of yourself, but that doesn't need to mean that you should be smaller. You are fine as you are, as he demonstrates.
