Amorality is a quality admired and rewarded in modern organizations, where it is referred to through metaphors such as professionalism and efficiency...Immorality is doing wrong of our own volition. Amorality is doing it because a structure or organization expects us to do it

3D Materials Workshop
Monday 20th November and Tuesday 21st November 2023
I did a Workshop called 3D Materials on Monday 20th November 2023
At first I looked at my sketchbook and took inspiration from a photo I printed out of mirror images of myself using a kaleidoscope in front of the lens on my phone camera
It produced a idea of changing the perspective of my drawings by making them 3d.
The photo I took of the cardboard that I weaved reminded me of Bridget Riley's Geometric 3D designs

you know im starting to think that all this mulling over the disparity and intersectionality inheret to yin and yang and the four elements is less of a hobby funtime hyperfixation and more like a. im discovering the source of my ideology and spirituality
#talk#recently ive been realizing that playing with the different combinations of#active yin and yang (the self. action. by the means of. water and fire)#and passive yin and yang (the world. perception. for the purpose of. earth and air)#and the different paths that a person can take on their journey to reach understanding of all four elements#is a fantastic way to imagine up three dimensional characters. locations. histories. cultures. arcs. stories.#even after achieving all four elements; how do the elements that a character began with that most identify that character?#which elements does a person have? which elements are they missing? how does this create conflict?#line up the elements of a locale (a vast night city. practically unknowable via all its small pieces but easily perceptible as a whole.#THE WORLD. the earth is the foundation of the city. buildings. networks. infrastructure. the air is the freedom of the city.#people doing as they please. gusts of wind blowing on rooftops. lights beaming and flickering separately but as a whole)#with an arc that your character(s) need to experience to learn an element (for characters who have yet to understand the pure#vastness of the world [no earth or air]. for characters who love the freedom but cant stand the form that its built on [only air].#for characters who are familiar with the infrastructure but dont know how to set themselves loose into what it offers [only earth].#and then characters who are equipped to embrace the city in full and offer guidance to the other characters when prompted [earth and air])#ive been setting my mind LOOSE in it and the ONLY thing that i get is interesting and dynamic and real ideas.#it is an absolute story building gold mine and it is by design that its a gold mine

BRING LUGNUT BACK
We need to bring Lugnut to newer continuities and newer art. I love his design and i feel like he'd make a very interesting addition to your cross continuity fanfics. On one condition, we can make him worse. Lugnut needs to be an even Bigger zealot and openly simp for His Glorious Leader Lord Megatron. Like skjdjskskddk there's so much beautiful chaos we can write him in. Can you imagine what'll happen if we allow Lugnut to be in a super grimdark thing? So many possibilities

Been going through season 6 of Rick and Morty (don't laugh) after not realizing it had released throughout 2022. I've never been more than a passive fan of the show since being introduced to it in middle school by a friend when it first came out, but despite its criticism and notorious reputation it honestly always had a bit of a sentimental place in my heart. Like, watching it throughout the years yeah it's not exactly the best show ever but I guess it's just one of the few things i've somehow managed to pretty consistently follow along since its beginning. Anyway, I'm really surprised by how much I'm enjoying this season. Especially with the notable decline in season 5... I remember finishing like 90% of its episodes not being able to even pity list a good quality about it. But every episode of season six has honestly been able to impress me in some way. Maybe I've just become a bigger sucker for stupid smartass humor and sci-fi tech animation but I really did find every single episode really fun to a very embarrassing amount. I don't know how to describe it but I feel like the season also exemplifies a sort of "sweet spot" the show has been able to find in itself. The biggest critiques of the show are undeniably its reliance on metahumor and the inconsistencies of the capabilities of Rick, but something about s6 makes these elements "work" to me in some way that that wasn't able to be done in s5. Sure, it's still lazy but it didn't take away from my enjoyment like the last season did. Anyway, I just wanted to put my thoughts out since I'm wondering if any other people felt the same way?

In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, some objects in the background, such as Peach's Castle at the beginning of the first level, appear to shift slightly in perspective as the camera scrolls by, to increase the sense that the scene is three-dimensional despite the gameplay only being confined to a two-dimensional plane.
However, due to the game using orthographic projection (a manner of rendering where objects are not distorted by perspective), the standard way of implementing this effect - to simply place the object at a distance to the camera and pan it across, letting the perspective shift naturally - is not actually possible. Instead, the designers used a trick where objects that need to shift simply rotate along a central axis as the camera moves back and forth. The effect is slightly optically inaccurate but subtle enough to mistake for true perspective shifting during gameplay.
By modifying the game's code to add a multiplier to the rotation value, it becomes easily visible, revealing the trick. Note how the castle stands still when the camera is not moving, and rotates in the opposite direction of the camera movement.

One of the most important parts of this film is the design of each individual character. Due to the sheer number of characters introduced in this film, the way each character is presented visually provides development and world building that would otherwise be glossed over for the sake of time. By incorporating the Sex Pistols font, lace code (blue meaning killed a cop), bold colors, and other symbols representative of the 70s English Punk scene into Hobie's character design, a backstory is given to an otherwise enigmatic character. Including watercolor-style backgrounds that changed along with the mood of the scene Into Gwen's world, emotions could be conveyed without the use of dialogue which contributed to the complexity of the character. Interestingly, Miguel's design was very discordant. While his suit was futuristic, electronic to the point of glitching out and staticing when Miles overloaded it with energy, his face noticeably still had its sketch lines, giving him rough and unfinished feel. I believe this is a stylistic choice that plays into the ongoing theme that Miguel is not quite where he is supposed to be, as seen in Peters joke about how he is the only unfunny Spiderman or the fact that he's seemingly using synthesized venom to act as Spiderman. Ultimately the best design character was the Spot. I am astonished that the writers and directors of this movie developed a villain that was only in a handful of TV show episodes and comics, never being taken seriously, into a genuinely frightening character with a serious vendetta. Much of this is done through the development that the Spot's design has throughout the movie. As the characters style shifts from that of Miles' own Earth to 2D schizophrenic crayon drawing, it demonstrates that the character has developed from the typical bad-guy-of-the-week to a serious threat, without having to take too much time actually focusing on the character. The character jarringly pops out against the otherwise bright and three-dimensional animations in the rest of the film. I am excited to see the 2D version in action in the third film.
i’m so incredibly unwell about this movie this is actually insane.

Cheat Code #4 for accommodating disabled characters in sci-fi/fantasy:
If you want to show a character's personality in the aids they use, you need to add customization, accessories, and/or specializations.
i.e.: You'll have a more three-dimensional character design if you take the time to consider what you can make unique about an aid; it should be as much a part of your design thoughts as the clothes they wear or the hairstyle they keep, and there are several ways to go about it. For example:
Customization would be things like colors and lights. A prosthetic arm can have colored guards that slide in and latch; a rich person might have those guards gilded, while a scientist might have a whiteboard arm panel to scribble notes on, and a stage performer could have theirs painted black with a bone on it to give the appearance of a skeletal window. A visor that replaces vision could have a screen that shows expressive pixel eyes for a happy-go-lucky hacker, or a practical black shield for someone in strict uniform. ⠀ To customize: make yourself a base, then take that base and imagine what each character you apply it to would WANT it to look like; prioritize aesthetics or practicality based on their personal preference. ⠀
Accessories are add-ons to your aid, rather than part of it. A cane could have ribbons wound around it if it's used by a magical girl, or a secret compartment stopper to hide notes in for a paranoid detective. A wheelchair might come with paragliding wings that open with a pullstring for a daredevil, canvas bags full of tools for a mechanic, or hubcaps that detach and can be thrown as weapons for a soldier. ⠀ For accessories, you're not necessarily thinking of "what can I add to this aid to make it special?" The process is better defined as "what would they want to have, and how can I merge the two in a way that's easy to use?" ⠀
Specializations are sort of a deeper combination of the two above features. They're a more advanced way of making your aids stand out, down to the materials they're comprised of or their intrinsic properties, that uniquely suit your character. They're typically hard to come by without being specially made, and can't be quickly modded in. ⠀ A spine brace being made of magic, living wood that grows to fill gaps when damaged would be available to a wood elf, and probably specially given to a warrior who WOULD damage it. A wheelchair made of magic-resistant metal could have use for a battlemage that can't turn to deflect spells quickly, or a witch hunter who wants immunity from the mages they're hunting. A cane that lights up when it senses radiation would be useful to a planetary explorer or warp drive mechanic, but not to a marine xenobiologist studying the starwhale population, who instead has a whalecall whistle built into theirs. ⠀ A specialized aid takes into account not only your character's wants and needs, but also their profession, their common risks, and occasionally their class—especially if you're using rare materials.
When you want to design an aid to be unique to your character, go through this checklist:
What do they want it to look like?
What would they want to add to it, and how do I make it convenient?
What would their setting offer them for their job or status?
What modifications would they have to seek out themselves, and would/could they?
Ask yourself these, and you're well on your way to making your disabled characters as varied as your abled ones.
