This might not be a popular take, but I think that the lower per person purchase limit and maybe even the ballot ticket allocation might be a more effective way to deal with high demand tours.
A system similar to that used for major sports events would set a deadline to apply and then allocate tickets based on price bands. You can choose in your application whether to be considered for other bands, but you're essentially committed to buying whatever you choose.
With a longer application period, people would be able to complete their application at a suitable time and without the pressure of worrying that their basket will time out or the tickets will disappear. Plus, nobody would have to look at the 2000+ graphic or the little walking dude! Surely a win!!

Singer-songwriter says ‘the old days are gone’ amid wider consternation at ticketing company’s pricing policies
Neil Young has lambasted Ticketmaster over its concert ticketing policies, saying “concert tours are no longer fun” due to what he sees as exploitative pricing.
Young wrote on his website: "It’s over. The old days are gone. I get letters blaming me for $3,000 tickets for a benefit I am doing. That money does not go to me or the benefit. Artists have to worry about ripped off fans blaming them for Ticketmaster add-ons and scalpers. Concert tours are no longer fun. Concert tours not what they were."
He also shared a news article about the Cure, the band who have also been highly critical of Ticketmaster.
Frontman Robert Smith told fans he was as “sickened as you all are” over Ticketmaster’s fees for the Cure’s forthcoming US tour – the band had deliberately kept ticket prices low, but in some cases the fees levied by Ticketmaster exceeded the price of a concert ticket.
After questioning Ticketmaster over the fees, the band announced that the company “have agreed with us that many of the fees being charged are unduly high”. Ticketmaster offered a $10 or $5 refund on tickets, depending on the original price.
The Cure also criticised Ticketmaster over its “dynamic pricing” policy, introduced in the UK in 2022 and used by artists such as Harry Styles and Coldplay, which inflates the price of remaining tickets for in-demand concerts. The Cure opted out of dynamic pricing, calling it “a greedy scam – and all artists have the choice not to participate … if no artists participated, it would cease to exist”.
Bruce Springsteen was criticised for using dynamic pricing last year. He responded: “Ticket buying has gotten very confusing, not just for the fans but for the artists also … I tell my guys: go out and see what everybody else is doing. Let’s charge a little less. That’s generally the directions … This time I told them, hey, we’re 73 years old … I want to do what everybody else is doing, my peers.” He added: “I know it was unpopular with some fans, but if there’s any complaints on the way out, you can have your money back.”
Ticketmaster was criticised by US Senate members of both parties at a hearing in January, with Minnesota senator Amy Klobuchar calling the company “a definition of monopoly” after its merger with concert promoter Live Nation in 2010. Louisiana senator John Kennedy characterised the company’s sale of tickets for Taylor Swift’s current Eras tour as “a debacle”: technical glitches and an extensive “presale” period meant that it was impossible for many fans to even have the option of buying tickets.

All the other artists who want to be taken seriously go with ‘I am dark, deep, moody and depressed’ and then there is Louis, ‘I am full of optimism, my tour got cancelled but it can’t get worse than this let’s move on’.
I do want to say the fact that Louis is still keeping his ticket prices low in this current environment is admirable. He hasn’t thrown the towel in and said I can’t help it this is how everyone else is doing it. Also, all the 1D/Harry fans who keep saying he had to keep the prices low because he doesn’t sell that well that’s not true, his core fans will buy more expensive tickets as can be seen based on 5sos ticket sales which are comparable to Louis but they had no issues putting in VIP and ripping their fanbase off. It’s always a choice and when people make good choices everyone takes it for granted.
Well he's talked about wanting to give everyone the opportunity to attend his shows a few time now. It's true that higher prices mean a more homogeneous crowd.
I would just like to nuance that it's not exactly like all FITFWT tickets are 25$ either. I think he definitely asks the price range to be the lowest possible, but it seems like they vary a lot by venue and bigger venues mean higher prices. E.g., I was looking at the prices for my shows. The Montréal venue is quite big but it's not the biggest in town. I got a good seated ticket for 55$ + fees but the GA is 75$ + fees. I'm seeing AM in September at the biggest venue and the ticket was 70$ + fees, for a seat comparable to the one for Louis'. So that's a 15$ difference, but for me going to the Bell Center for AM is way more convenient that the venue for Louis. Likewise, my ticket for the Vancouver show wasn't exactly cheap (90$+ fees) but it's an excellent seat. Again, a 15$ difference with my ticket for AM there but it's another venue and different seats. So I guess it varies with the cities and the venues. But all the tickets I've bought to shows recently were cheaper that Louis'. It was all smaller venues and I guess you could argue Louis is more famous... It's hard to compare because right now he's doing mid-size venues and the shows I go to are either smaller venues (like LTWT) or arenas. Maybe it's also the Canadian market that's different. But my tickets for the US shows were more expensive this time around. Red Rocks wasn't exactly cheap.
Anyways. You're right that he could probably put higher prices and we'd still buy tickets. And it's clear it's a conscious decision Louis has made to keep prices as affordable as possible and not create tiers of fan experiences by having VIP tickets. And we love him for not using dynamic pricing!

Parking in disabled spaces without a disabled permit
Over the course of this semester, students have noticed more incidents of cars without disabled designations parked in marked disabled spaces. Normally this comes with a major fine, since there are disabled people who need these spaces. The Catalyst spoke to the New College Campus Police Department (CPD) about this occurrence. A dispatcher at the CPD informed the Catalyst that the best way to…
