I was watching a movie about a sea monster bonding with a girl and then she becomes a mermaid to keep being friends, and the sequel was all about how her human family was trying to marry her sister to a tiger shapeshifter. After the movie ended with a wedding, I declared, "Allo people are clearly not okay."

So, I've been writing this thing in my head the last couple of days about a modern shapeshifter story. Not to get too in depth, a woman finds out she has "a crazy super power" by being able to placate large cats (lions, tigers, jaguars, etc). Well a large cat, a tiger. It had escaped from the enclosure in the zoo/sanctuary and while everyone was running around freaking out (because that won't trigger it's predator/prey instincts, right) she just stands there basically going "Not today, oh 600 pound feline body builder" and the tiger just melts. Belly up, slow blinks, (tigers can't purr), the whole nine yards and the zoo staff are all "????" and offer her a part time job taking care of him (his name is Reggie) because he's ornery with every one else, not violent, just a curmudgeon. Turns out, "Reggie" is a shapeshifter named Jack who got injured one night while on a run in his tiger form and was "rescued" and brought to the zoo. So he's been living as a tiger for the past 8 or so years. He went all "happy kitty, warm kitty" around the woman because she didn't show any fear and basically looked at him like she wasn't having it. Side note: after its revealed to everyone (he shifts back in the middle of a demonstration with her while surrounded by a crowd of people, he did it on purpose) that shapeshifters exist, he moves in with her so he can start learning how to be a person again. Although, he does sometimes shift in his sleep so she'll wake up, roll over, and be face to snoot with a sleeping tiger.

I hope you get the chance to write it for real! It's always so much fun watching stories unfold in your mind too though.

Macaque isn’t that strong; his top move is using illusions, glamors and projections to make himself appear as strong

Even in the book the truth is that if he were more powerful then he wouldn’t have been killed with a single strike by the cudgel — he, most likely, was on par with Wukong because he was using the equivalent of mimic

E.g if a rock shares the same hardness with another rock it will not scratch nor break it

SWK was essentially fighting HIMSELF in that battle not the SIX EARED MACAQUE

Macaque getting easily beaten in the show feels right not because he’s weak but because it parallels to how SWK beat him in JTTW — Macaque is NOT a fighter, he’s a manipulator and a magic user, he relies on his shadows to pin Wukong down, he relies on Xiaotian’s own magic to power boost himself, he wasn’t defeated by Xiaojiao because she hit his SHADOW PUPPET not him

Xiaotian dived through and hit his eye directly, that’s why he recoiled

He’s not a fighter, he’s a support and ranged attacker because out of every single fight he’s had he uses tricks, magic and his shadows to fight, never hand-to-hand because that’s not what his specialty is.

And, no, being one of the four celestial primates doesn’t mean he’s powerful.

Flying Low

A magical AU where Law is a raven shapeshifter, but has had his wings torn off, so he is always using a cane to balance himself and he lives in seclusion in the forest. He absolutely doesn't trust, well, anyone. Whether humans or other shapeshifters or any other race, he doesn't approach anyone and does everything he can to not let them approach his home either. But that changes when one day a guy just falls from the sky. It literally falls from the sky. Right in the middle of Law's herb garden and although he really wants to get rid of this invader, he can't get rid of his curiosity because Law's house is in the middle of the forest, far from peaks or mountains, so where the hell is this guy came from and, even better, how did he survive the fall? Curiosity (and his sense of duty as a healer) causes Law to drag the guy inside and nurse him back to health. 'The guy' soon wakes up and gets a name, Luffy, who reveals himself to be a priest of the Sun God's temple, which makes sense to Law, since Luffy's magic seems totally opposite to his, a raven whose species is constantly attributed to the Goddess of Darkness, Nika's enemy. All this, however, does not explain how Luffy fell out of nowhere from the sky and it only gets worse when not even Luffy knows how it happens. Unfortunately for Law, meeting Luffy is a path of no return and in the blink of an eye his isolated and peaceful life is disturbed by the priest who, after returning to full health, becomes a noisy guest in Law's small cabin. Things get weird when Law's wings start to grow back, white instead of black, at the same time that Luffy also starts to change. For worse. His health simply declines and his magic grows and becomes out of control, becoming a danger to everything around him, excluding, in some way, Law. Desperate to understand and help Luffy, Law begins his journey out of seclusion toward the capital's temple, where Luffy is said to serve as a priest. But dragging a time bomb in the shape of a man all the way to the capital is not simple when you are alone and Law has no option but to accept the growing number of people who seem to be drawn into Luffy's orbit and who decide to accompany them on the journey
