Easter Egg reveals Larian Studios next project

For months, since unanimously winning awards for the critically acclaimed Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has been tight-lipped about their next major project. Although they did say it would not be another Baldur's Gate or even a Divinity title, they also have been vocal about the games industry - particularly regarding layoffs. Good for them. Last week Larian's next game was porported to have a different "tone, style, way of doing it" to Baldur's Gate 3, but won't "dwarf" it.

After the past couple weeks speculating how the collaboration between Baldur's Gate 3 and Vampire Survivors would surface, an unexpected twist occured yesterday on Easter Sunday in the form of an Easter Egg.

Veterans of Vampire Survivors are keenly aware of 'Toastie' - a nod to Mortal Kombat's infamous 'TOASTY!' character Dan Forden who would pop up at the bottom right corner for a second. It seems a similar interaction occurs only on Easter Sunday.

Certain checks, usually ones which have to critically fail, cause an unusual character to appear and eventually it was discovered this is none other than Helpy from the Adult Swim TV Show Tigtone!

The TV show Tigtone has not been seen since 2020, coincidentally when Larian got deep into Early Access of BG3, and kept this as a secret feature for years.

Larian needs a wizard killer more than ever and who kills more wizards than TIGTONE?!!

Founder and CEO of the video game company Larian Studios Swen Vincke sat down, stood up, then sat down again at the Municipal Animation Directors Conference And Parlor outside Ghent to discuss this new project, translated from Belgian:

"Our fans are incredibly smart so they figured it out within hours. We've really grown internally, and externally here, and we wanted to shout and scream about making the industry fun again so what is more fun than Tigtone?"

"The first time watching Tigtone is magical - he murders everything, pursuades everything, intimidates everything - he's a natural 20 roll in every aspect - it will be the first TRPG - Tigtone Role Playing Game"

Sir Vincke revealed the following:

Tigtone is seeking The Dark Quantum Forest for the source of all questlogs resulting in a multiversal meeting of infinite Tigtones all seeking to be the truest Tigtone with the most quests completed.

There will be a 'TVT' mode - Tigtone Vs Tigtone - where you can steal quests from other players. Custom quest making feature where anything is possible if you believe in yourself. Chris Avellone will be back to write about old ladies. You can customise the size of your potions. The Helpy resource system. Mercy Hobo Hardcore mode. Rope collecting.

Tim Follin will also be dragged out of retirement by the teeth to compose the soundtrack in collaboration with Toby Fox who promises to stop sneaking in Homestuck references into his games.

You can choose to ally with one of the fundamentals or defy them - for example:

You can ally with GRAVITY, enabling SHOVE to win - or defy them in order to gain FLIGHT. You can ally with TIME, enabling ACTION ECONOMY bonuses - or defy them to COMPLETE SEASONAL QUESTS out of season (protected from FOMO). You can ally with SPACE, enabling UNLOCK NEW AREAS - or defy them to UNLOCK SEQUENCE BREAKING.

Whilst Nils Frykdahl will reprise his role as Tigtone, Neil Newbon, who played Astarion in BG3, will play the role of the Wood Elf and Flying Tree. No further announcements regarding voice actors.

The main threat has been revealed to be THE VILLAINOUS SURVIVALICH who is determined to turn all quests into tedious base-crafting objectives to expand the power of the Chrono Enigma Occlusion (CEO) sinkhole.

More news about this, hopefully, will surface later on this year.

When they are teenagers, the twins meet again, only Tigtone had become a adventurer and Anduin a priest

Tigtone still makes fun of him but calls him a pansy for being a pacifist

Tigtone is favored by the war hardened warriors, but Varian and Anduin can tell he still had problems

Anduin still is kind to Tigtone, even when he is a jerk

When Garrosh destroyed the divine bell and Anduin is in recovery, Tigtone in a fit of rage killed an entire horde of orcs which served Garrosh and rearranged their bodies to spell out revenge

Tigtone, determined to become better than Anduin, renounce the throne to become the greatest adventurer of all time

Anduin often send letters to his brother, telling him how much he loved him, though denying it, Tigtone keeps them

Tigtone was broken when his father died and Anduin, upon his father’s request promises to always be at Tigtone’s side and the brothers would always be brothers

Tigtone grew worse in his behavior over time

Tigtone then came for a quest with Helpy upon the request of the Alliance to protect Anduin on his journey to Propecia

Anduin then sees the darker side of Tigtone and sees that he hasn’t change as his violent fits of jealousy were shown once again, injuring Anduin in claims of accidents

Anduin finally had enough when Tigtone killed a monster that was actually helping them, Anduin truly seeing his brother as twisted

Anduin and Tigtone get into a fight, where Anduin showed his strength and knocks Tigtone out

Tigtone and Anduin then makeup when they come across a Wineyard and they drank together like the good old days

Anduin soon accepts his brother as he is and that for the sake of their relationship was to keep a safe distance and only have bonding adventures without other people for Tigtone is often triggered

AS October 2020.

Pic 1 has a Primal marathon before the rest of season 1 starts airing on Sundays. Pic 2 has a Black Dynamite marathon. Primal also gets 10p Saturdays. Pic 3 has a Tigtone marathon and Holy Calamavote, a commercial-free concert special featuring Run the Jewels. Bumped Toonami down an hour. Eric Andre also preps itself for season 5. Pic 4 has Eric Andre season 5 premiering! A marathon, too. Dream Corp LLC season 3 also premieres, rather suddenly. The plan was to push it to 2021 to try and get the show off Hulu... but that didn't happen. Now it seems like the damn show's been written off. Sad. Expect weird timeslots for that show, season 3 has episodes of varying lengths. Pic 5 has a Halloween marathon featuring the premiere of Jack Stauber's OPAL, a compilation of spooky Smalls shorts, and 1.5 hours of other weird spooky things. Gotta love curated marathons. The Promised Neverland has a six hour marathon, taking advantage of Daylight Saving.

Cowboy Bebop #20: “Pierrot le Fou” | March 13, 1999 | S01E20 Adult Swim premiere: November 5, 2001 - 12:30AM

This one rocks, wow. Okay, so Spike has a run in with what could only be described as a real scary guy. Kinda like V from V For Vendetta, I guess? He’s a very scary assassin kinda guy and he is basically invincible. Spike barely makes his encounter with him out alive. This sequence, which is more-or-less the first sequence in the episode, is incredible. The show basically builds up to their rematch which takes place at a theme park and the second encounter manages to outdo the first.

YOUNG COMICS: You will want to construct your stand-up sets like this. Open with your second-best joke, close with your best. Also, you need to respect your comedy elders and buy them drinks and just give them money and stuff.

We find out this guy SERIOUSLY does not like kitty cats, which is a shame because I have a cat :)

I need to find some video of Perry Bamonte in a lost world Cure concert so I can edit it with some Tigtone dialog.

That's the beauty of Tumblr, you can say shit like that and people get you. Here people have either heard of Tigtone or will quickly look up Tigtone and understand that paraphrasing 'no one goes thru the elemental kings trauma door for free' means something.

Still looking ofr someone to help me talk thru some of my ideas and help me organize them. I took three semesters of design and I think I was getting it then the brain injury happened and it was gone.

I started reading that Super Giles story where a boy turns in to a gas pump, I would swear I founf the translation here on Tumblr. The translator did a good job but it also brings in to the conversation where what ever the language is a native speaker going in ad tweaking it, localization is it?, or someone with a writer's sense would make it just a bit better.

The pacing, that's it, is a bit wanting for someone who is a good story teller to make it that much better.

Probably doing laundry today. Not going to say what I was going to say.

And the pleco suckerfish we have is weird. We'd occasionally throw a slice of cucumber or squash in, algae eaters love that, and the last one would eat from the middle out often leaving the rind. This one lays on its side and starts eating the rind spinning it like a record and leaving perfect round bites taken out of it. The middles are eaten last.

BookThoughts: Dying Earth by Jack Vance

It’s not quite 1pm and I have better things to do and it’s been over a month since I read this without taking notes so why the hell shouldn’t I write a review? I listened to the audiobook version narrated by Arthur Morey and he did well.

Literature rating: Its good. RPG inspo rating: OFF THE CHARTS!

In a world where the genres oppress speculative fiction writers and abuse them and force them to write uninspired shit about elf politics Dying Earth is a lurid ray of light and barbarous liberation. When sitting down to write a new book Jack Vance considered fantasy, science fiction, post apocalypse, and said “Yes!”

This is a collection of short stories. We start with the Wizard Turjan trying to create creatures but it doesn’t work. He casts a spell to go to the only guy who knows, hiding in his own world. The spell system is explained: Most of the spells ever made were lost, and Turjan can only squeeze a few of the fraction left into his brain at once. That’s about all you get for that. Gary Gygax was a big Jack Vance fan and this book’s magic system was what he stole for Dungeons and Dragons. And since I’m digressing anyway the psychedelic atmosphere reminds me of Erol Otus and that 70′s D&D feel.

The prose is prodigious, extravagant, and quite frankly ridiculous. The dialogue is hilarious (to my sense of humor) and reminded me of Adult Swim cartoons like Tigtone or Xavier Renegade Angel in a good way. Every wizard is a nihilistic asshole, talks like a nihilistic asshole, and this is nihilistic asshole planet. It’s pretty great. Did I mention that the sun is going to burn out soon but nobody mentions exactly when? Eons of history have worn everything down to a smooth psychedelic not-quite medieval vibe and strange cannibal mutants and tiny men live in the woods and they have some of the best (worst) dialogue I have ever read.

The characters carry between stories and the order of events is hard to keep track of but that’s not important anyway. The first chunk of the stories deals with characters that run into each other or worse and have a very picaresque feel. Toward the end we get clashes with more godly beings, and jarring high-tech elements. But it works.

Jack’s worldbuilding is pure creativity with zero wankery. Any settlement of people has a bizarre culture and customs. But what’s their history? Doesn’t matter, the world is SO OLD that nobody can catalogue a speck of anyone’s history. What are their women like? This was written in 1950 for a cheap paperback so you can probably guess. Nothing graphically sexual happens and I’m thankful because they do hint at nasty stuff just to remind you that this is nihilistic asshole planet.

Overall, The Dying Earth is really weird. Read it if you need weird.
