I did not think The Almighty Johnsons would turn into a comfort show as quick as this but oh well, I'm not complaining. It's just something about how simple it is and how old it is that activates the part of my autistic brain that makes it so comforting to watch 🥰

Brokenwood Speculations & Spoilers
The Brokenwood Mysteries - Series 8
*Discussion below includes spoilers if you haven’t seen episode 4…*
Chalmers: “Did you hear that bang?”
Sims: “…of Gina’s head exploding… yeah”
This is amazing - the first exchange on IG was back in June 2021 between Cristina, Tim (the creator of Brokenwood) and Fern. I love that Tim’s comment made it into the script!
The next IG post was July 2, 2022 - a few days before the new series aired (major spoiler btw, Jess 🤦🏻♀️). I really hope they will explore that backstory with Tania in the coming episodes.
I realise I am probably the only one this obsessed with the show and the story 😅🙈 but it would be great to hear any thoughts you have of the new developments with Mike! 😁

I just found out that Prime Video has all three seasons of The Almighty Johnsons, I haven't been able to do a rewatch because I didn't have access to season three, now that I do this is all I'm going to talk about for the next few days/weeks.

Do I, comic book babe that I am, understand that the Titans Tower incident was wildly unrealist, unnecessary, and OOC on Jason's part? Absolutely.
Is that gonna stop me on my mission to read every Titans Tower fic on AO3? Not on your life

Gonna write a fic where every person in Tim's life tries to nudge him to go back to school and Tim, the Robin who solved crimes to procrastinate on his essays, just keeps weaseling out of it.
Bruce is back from the timestream and wants him to study for his GED? What part of 'emancipated minor who technically currently owns his company' does he not understand? With what time, Bruce? No, that's not a pillow under his desk for napping when nobody else is in his office and a schedule that just says "Lex >:)" for the next two days, mind your own business.
Bruce tries to get him to try on account of having a high school dropout in a decision making position at a huge corporation will look suspicious and Tim's like "You're right: a college dropout is way less suspicious" and offers to sign it back over that moment.

DFP Actors August: Timothy Balme
NZ actors tend to end up in a lot of the same shows over the years it seems. I have a lot of fun spotting familiar faces, so I thought this would be a fun and silly little project, seeing which actors have repeatedly been in things that Deano was also in (not necessarily alongside). Just a bit of trivia. Enjoy!
Shortland Street (1996/1994-1996,1999)
Dean played Nurse Harry Martin in 1996.
Tim played Greg Feeney (IMDB says 1994, 1995-1996, 1999).
Not gonna lie, seeing "Mike Johnson" as a scruffy bad boy sent me for a loop.
The Legend of William Tell (1998/1998)
Dean played Darek in S1E12 "The Tomb of the Unknown Warrior".
Tim played Alum in S1E15 "Combat".
Scrubbing through for these stills, all I could think was... what the heck is even happening in this show? I was so confused.
The Almighty Johnsons (2011-2013/2011-2013)
Dean played Anders Johnson throughout the series, and Tim played his older brother Mikkel (Mike) Johnson!
Tim was also a writer & storyliner for many episodes!
One of my favourite shows of all time.
-
In addition to writing for The Almighty Johnsons, Tim also wrote the episode of The Brokenwood Mysteries that Dean was in, and is also credited as a writer for Under The Vines! That's pretty cool imo.
And that's what I've got for these two! Did I miss anything?

So ra's wants to see if he can slowly make tim a bit more immortal so he starts diluting some ectoplasm from his least favorite pit and starts putting him into tims drink and sometimes just straight up injects him
Problem, the reason why he doesn't like the pit is because it's too close to real ectoplasm and it rejects the bad ectoplasm in his body
So tim slowly becomes more liminal until Danny, who was taking a road trip through universes, sees him and picks him up
Like, actually picks him up and takes him with him for a bit
Normally Tim would freak but all his ectoplasm just cheers because ghost king is a soothing balm and Tim just takes a long nap
Even when he wakes up he is just feels content and listens to dannys rambles, whenever he gets agitated Danny chirps and calms him down
He is slightly worried when Danny explains that he needs to drink some actual ectoplasm to not die and it will have certain effects on him
But when he finds out it means it will also help with jasons pit rage? Sign him up
So about two months after he shows back up in the batcave mid argument and when he sees Jason he chirps loudly
It instantly calms him
So now the bats gotta deal with whatever happened to Tim, a ghost king (Constantine nearly passes away when he hears) and Jason clinging to Tim cause it helps his pit rage
Tim can't wait to tell them that he and Danny are going on a date soon
