‘The children in her pictures have a magical quality for me because they seem to be totally in charge. In fact my uncle Glenn tells me in the film that “they owned the place”. These kids existed; they mattered, and Tish was going to make sure that they were seen, always emphasising humanity over poverty. Mostly, they are about childhood. That’s where the joy comes from’
