the concept of getting pregnant by holding a stone is inherently comical, which is great to show the irreverent spirit of a video game made by a bunch of teenagers (who are, as extensions of togashi himself, clearly interested in gender), but it's also dramatically null. trans ging or bio mom theories are infinitely richer as possibilities, so let me tell you why the pregnancy stone theory sucks, narratively and thematically. if gon was indeed a pregnancy stone baby, it would cheapen one of the most beautiful, emotionally powerful moments in the series. when gon is talking with killua that one night on whale island, he explains why he refused to hear the rest of ging's tape to learn about his biological mother, and it's because gon has already chosen mito as his mom. I would argue that this moment can only be as affecting as it is if there really is an actual biological, living mother who chose to be absent. gon doesn't simply choose mito because she happened to be there and raise him--he chooses her because she's Mito and because she chose him. he's choosing her back. gon is aware of and acknowledges the existence of this biological mother, so the power of this scene is in gon and mito choosing each other as family anyway, freely and with love, when neither of them has to. this power to choose, on the other side, is not something that killua has just yet. it's not coincidental that it's he who hears this directly, while Mito only overhears it, because it's killua who has to hear it, and it leaves a subtle, unspoken impact on him that contributes to his development for the rest of the series as he negotiates his relationship with his family. it's one of the many contrasts between the freecs and the zoldycks, and how witnessing each family dynamic both from the outside and closely impacts killua and gon respectively. through scenes like this one and others, togashi juxtaposes the messy, imperfect relationships among the freecs against the rigid, hierarchical ones among the zoldycks. throughout the story, killua is literally and figuratively haunted by the specter of his family and their demands for conformity and obedience. the zoldycks, in contrast to the freecs, might be tightknit, but we see how that's not necessarily a good thing, and that their closeness does not in fact come naturally or lovingly, but is enforced. flawed families where members are allowed to pursue their own happiness outside familial bounds, and where they can choose each other, and choose how to relate to one another, with all the hurt and difficulties that may entail, has a far bigger room for healthy love and positive growth than a conventional family unit that's only held together by patriarchal authority and subjugation. killua, thanks to gon's relationship with his family, finally sees the difference. that's why i think killua had to hear those words, and why gon had to make that choice, and why it's narratively and thematically better that this choice happens with his knowledge of the existence of a biological mother who's alive out there. and that's why the pregnancy stone theory sucks.

RARE THEORY : WHY AND HOW THETA WILL BE THE 9TH QUEEN OF KAKIN
Yo I already talk about this in some comments. But I really wanted to make an official post of that theory here in my blog.
So there is this genius @itsmyara and @hunterexamcheatsheet who talk about the fact that each actual queen of Kakin's name are related to their position in the harem hierarchy :
Tumblr media
Then we have Theta, Theta means nine in ancient greek.
And with what we highlight above. We know that Togashi put way to much attention in the queen's name just for accidentally making such a "coincidence".
Furthermore, there is Oito's backstory. Oito WASN'T born to be a queen AT ALL. Her backstory shows to us reader that EVERY WOMEN of every social statues have a chance to be a queen if the king "fall in love" with them. And that includes my baby girl Theta.
Of course only 8 women success to make it, so it's nearly impossible. Plus, "the King falling in love again" is an even rarer possibility because of the context of the succession war. Indeed, why Nasubi would marry a woman when he seems to be ready to die in 2 months. Theta can't even have the time to birth a new prince at this point.
If he marries Theta she would not make any heirs to the throne, so she would be a pretty "useless" queen. That the second biggest reason why it seems impossible for Theta to be Nasubi's wife.
BUT !
Let's go back to the comparison of the meaning of Theta's name and the other queens. All the queen's name are related aproximatovely to numbers but they don't have any meaning by themselves expect from Oito = eight and Seiko which is a famous watch mark in japan.
On the other hand, the word Theta has an HUGE array of meanings. Many recognize the mathematical symbole for naming angles.
But it is above all a letter in its own that has been derived and incorporated into the alphabet of many dead languages :
The Ionic, Ancient Greek, Modern Greek, Etruscan, Gallic, Cyrillic, Slavic, Coptic and Armenian alphabet for examples.
This letter will then take as many different forms depending on the civilizations that use it.
Tumblr media
In the end, Theta’s name in comparison to others can be interpreted as adaptability, communication or even impartiality. So even throught Theta doesn't make any child she would be an excellent key of power stabilisation if she is used correctly.
The story already shows us very well how Theta can adapt to a large panel of complex situation. She is also an essential source of information and meticulous analysis.
Nasubi will probably feel for those qualities. Plus, to survive this far, Theta WILL NEED to deploy every weapons she had in order to survive. I am sure that she will indirectly stole some other royal hearts in her tricky way to the mysterious mission success 😁
Tumblr media
.
.
.
WHOA EXPLANING A THEORY IS EXAUSTING AS FUCK 😫.
But it was also sooooo fun !😊 Anyways, I hope I was clear and if I was not or if you want to hyperfixate over Theta with me TALK TO ME, IT WOULD BE AN HONOR FOR ME TO HAVE DEEP THETA CONVERSATION WITH YOU *Trembles uncontrollably and violently*

i was the last anon... omg u replied!! did not expect that tbh 😭😭 & yeah i don't *actually* hate illumi, in fact i think it'd be near impossible atp because. a) he's way too relatable + b) i adore his character, and his family and his everything bc of how complex he is. he's amazing. stunning. jaw-dropping. horrendous. terrible. terrifying. all at once & I Appreciate Him So Much (tm) for it :]
also speaking of illumi... i am so interested in kikyo. like ik a lot of people in the hxh fandom find her irritating (she is sometimes) but she's a mother too - specifically the zoldyck's mother - and i think as a character, she would have such an in-depth backstory that we haven't even gotten into yet (at least from where i'm currently at rn in the manga lmfao.. manifesting the future chapters give us more abt her bc i Need to know everything about her history in meteor city 🙏)
another thing abt ur reply - UR SO RIGHT ABT WANTING TO BEHAVE LIKE ILLUMI 🙁🙁 as someone who relates to his trauma & thought process, me and him cld not be more different fr. i am too Fiery. i get into too much Trouble for losing my temper at the Worst times. illumi tho?? he looks emotionless (even tho he's not) but i need that kind of detachedness to get around w my daily life 😭 god made me traumatized but not cold as ice How is this fair Please i need a life refund T___T
im so sorry omg i keep writing essays in these asks 🙁 anyways i also hope u have a great morning/day/evening!!! its almost 12am i need to get back to studying for exams LMAOO hope ur doing well tho (drink water bff)
Hi again anon! 🌸 thank you for sending me another ask ufufufu it's almost 5 am for me but it seems I'm going to hae a sleepless night aGAIN for some reasons gnsngmsmcj
Good luck for your exams! I sincerely hope you'll be successful <3 and please never worry about sending me essays hahaha I love it very much 💕
I agree so much with you on Kikyo! I am usually not very big on female characters for some reasons but kikyo is so cool! I need to know more about her! I like her fucked up personality though lmaooo she is a Zoldyck indeed 🙏 like yes she IS irritating but it's because she literally is the MOTHER in a FAMILY OF ASSASSINS I think at this point every Zoldyck is allowed to be irritating LOL
I truly hope Togashi will give us more about her. She's from Meteor City after all, who knows what crazy things happened to her back there! Also I desperately need to know how she met Silva and how they fell in love.
Where are you currently in the manga? Just wanna make sure I don't drop any spoiler material if you send me more asks ufufu!
ALSO OMG I FEEL YOU SO MUCH ABOUT NOT BEHAVING LIKE ILLUMI. Like sure he probably behaves like this because he was deeply traumatized but... look I have ADHD and BPD, nature wasn't very nice with me. The combination makes me extremely impulsive, extremely emotive and very easily angered. My behavior is basically an emotional rollercoaster LMAOOO I just wish I was able to keep a cold face like Illumi 😭 who knows maybe his emotions are wild in his brain but at least he's able to completely conceal them. This is a skill I would appreciate having.
Instead my traumatized dumb ass self decided to gift me the ability to hide my upset-ness until I eventually explode. Which is. A pretty unhealthy behavior LMAO but I'm working on it :)))
Who knows, maybe one day Illumi is going to explode too 😶 not saying I actually want him to explode but somehow I think I would get so emotional if it ever happend to him. Like. Illumi breaking down nervously and. IDK crying maybe. This sounds wildly out of character but wow...

Hunter x Hunter Chapter 166 - Face-Off (9)
Last one for tonight
Tumblr media
We’re pretty good
Gon is sweating a lot from his two rocks, it is really tiring for him
I hope he can take a shower after this because it must have been a while since he’s been in game
Tumblr media
Tsezguerra is the only one considering the state of the player
he’s also a bit of a pessimist anyway
They are indeed in bad shape but they look cool and pretty good in those panels !
Tumblr media
Killua is indeed very hurt
Tumblr media
But look at how he can still smile !!!
Yep, it’s a child that’s suffered serious abuse, he can mask his actual feelings pretty well and smile while hurting internally
He can pretty much disconnect from his body
it’s a bad consequence of his upbringing my man
Also because he probably feels he would disappoint people by actually appearing hurt or not well when he is
The drawing is good
I love my two good boys
Tumblr media
Best duo
Tumblr media
The ring is bad enough, normally the whole skin should have been ripped with the ring
Let’s just say nen prevents the ring from moving once you’re inside the game
Tumblr media
Also cool to still mention Tsezguerra still can do stuff they can’t
nen is always fun
like with the body, skills and strength work together and you can do a lot with skill alone even if you’re a bit behind in the strength department.
Tumblr media
I’m a bit sad to realize a scene I like was added in the 2011 anime. They really did a good addition, highlighting Biscuit’s skill
I liked it
Tumblr media
TIMEOUT
Tumblr media
Razor likes to spin the ball
Tsez is a cool guy though
Tumblr media
I have to agree with Tsez here, it’s not a cop out
Tumblr media
Killua, stop trying to fake being fine challenge
Tumblr media
Biscuit is a good mom
Tumblr media
OUCH
Tumblr media
You knew but seeing is quite different than just knowing
Gon looks a bit ashamed here, he knew but he still feels bad about hurting Killua
Tumblr media
Here it comes
the famous confession line that’s traditionally used in Japan
Tumblr media
I’m tearing up a bit, Gon trusts and loves Killua so much
Killua is honestly moved by it too, I bet he really isn’t confident enough to feel like he can be valued like that
Hisoka looks like his suspicions are being confirmed
For those who don’t know this line from Gon in japanese is a classic line used to confess one’s love, for more info on that go there
https://medium.com/anigay/let-me-begin-by-giving-you-a-puzzle-71aa326293cc
My current vision on the potentiality of Gon and Killua having a romance with each other is that it could go either way, Togashi isn’t dumb and he’s clearly coding some queerness into them as he did with many other characters in several of his works.
He likes to play with queerness and I wouldn’t find it surprising at all if Gon and Killua’s relationship becomes romantic, for now they are friends and I’m sure Togashi’s freedom with Hunter x Hunter compared to Yu Yu Hakusho or Level E (or even things he wanted to write like Trouble Quartet) is pretty high but there could definitely be some pressure from the editors if he does that
Killua is so gay though
When I was a little gay (13 to 15) and 2011 was coming out, I basically convinced myself I couldn’t be gay because my feelings where just strong friendship like Killua’s feelings for Gon (I related a lot with Killua and identified a lot with his struggles)
this is the kind of conversation that became toxic a lot of times on forums so I’m always wary when I talk about it but some fans are so stubborn they would be capable to deny any prior hints at it if it happens. Some can see it though and agree it would make sense
Anyone saying it wouldn’t make sense, is definitely delusional and not familiar with Togashi’s work
I can definitely see this staying just a friendship too so I don’t care, their relationship makes sense as both and it’s beautifully written.
Tumblr media
I love them
ANYWAY let’s catch this fucking ball
Tumblr media
Hisoka really is down for all of Gon’s absurd ideas, Killua is a better person to be around him. Not buying into all he says and trying to think things through
Tumblr media
Oh yeah emitted nen, back to Razor !!!
Tumblr media
This guy is so dangerous he didn’t need all his aura to face Hisoka and Biscuit and put them in life threatening situation.
Conjurer don’t need to recover their aura from conjured objects so really this is one thing that makes emitted beasts potentially viable in the case of Razor. All conjurers would become weaker when they conjure stuff otherwise and that’d be pretty dumb. Especially since it’d be like having aura removed from your usual pool just to make an item that needs the use of shu to compete with nen abilities
The cost would be double
Tumblr media
BUT you used it like a few weeks ago to destroy the troupe’s ship ????
Tumblr media
COMBINE
really one of the most wtf moment in Hunter x Hunter
Tumblr media
46 - I wouldn’t be down with having a sentient girl kept somewhere to produce gold
47 - oh yeah someone sleeping in your place, pretty cool
48 - Nice smell girl
49 - fuck it a pet mermaid is also fucked up
50 - a little dinosaur, very cool
51 - pet dragon that can talk
52 - weird grasshopper with pearls
53 - king white beetle (we know it)
54 - a butterfly
it was the pet/insects card list
GOTTA CATCH ‘EM ALL
THE END for tonight

The moment when Gon’s priorities start to change - ch. 64 and 65
While working in my meta of the separation scene (which will take some time still, sorry), I came across these chapters again: 64 and 65. Two of my favorite. As a linguistic and literature student, I’m always trying to catch hints in Togashi’s writing - we know he carefully thinks about each word used. Have a good read and keep in mind is just a thought -  and the dialogues and panels chosen to be showed in here are meaningful. This is not a deep research with theory references, but just some of the various examples of how artistic and textual strategies work in Hunter x Hunter, that they are not random and how even the slightest changing of words and switching perspectives can impact the story in order to provoke a reaction, meaning something to the audience, leading us to a way.
Anyways.
The boys had just finished the Heaven’s Arena, with tons of hints of how they would bond more and more, for example, Killua wanting to evolve with Gon in the same pace regarding both the Floors and the Nen training. The scene where Killua and Gon are meditating together, Killua getting more protective of Gon, as they soon become a pair.
They take a short well deserved break: it’s time to visit Whale Island. After all, Gon came to Kukuroo Mountain, and Killua wants to recollect what is home to Gon, too. Fair enough, it’s how I understand he’s self-inviting.
When they arrive. we are introduced to the fact that Gon, someone who deeply cares about his family, hasn’t called once since he passed the Exam. Of course, he got extremely focused on rescuing Killua and then training with him in the Arena, getting distracted. Not that he doesn’t care about Mito or anything, but he’s found something that kept his focus real heard. And Mito imagines what it is.
Their dialogue and her glance right after that hint why she can’t even be angry at Gon - because she’s not looking at him, only. Every time it would make sense to show only Gon but we get to see Killua by his side, too, is a visual message to the readers. Mito could’ve only looked at Gon, ‘cause she just met Killua and he’s not related to her. But she observes the meaning of his presence, even if Gon does not say it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The star gazing scene, one of the most important in the story and something we are very familiar with so, sorry to bring it up again - I know you all must be tired of seeing the same panels (but I adore it and I will keep using it). It starts with scenery that are important memories of Gon’s life when he was alone, now bringing a new meaning to them, someone to share with: Killua.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Killua approached Gon’s plans from now on, and after getting his answer, he questions what he should do. Gon says that he should come with him.
And here is another example how a simple choice of words - not only the words itself, but the timing when they’re said and the position, the “breath” between then, or even their absence - can mean so much as fantastic and complex storytelling strategies. Because Gon only gets to know that Killua, actually, doesn’t have any plan AFTER he asks him to join. He’s not asking because Killua don’t have it - he didn’t know that before he asked - but because he wants him to stick together. This is why it’s important that this request was said and showed before Killua elaborates on his feelings, so we can know that it’s not because “since you have nothing to do”. And fun fact: Killua is the only friend that Gon actually insists to not leave. The chapter when Kurapika and Leorio head to their goals, Gon just said “oh, already? - okay, see you/good luck/something like that”, with a honest smile. And I know Gon says “see you around” to Killua at the separation scene, but it’s also the first time he's shown unsatisfied with this decision, not smiling at all, implying he’s not okay.
Continuing, its Gon putting Killua in a place that no other belongs. It’s a re-signification of Killua, Gon’s favorite places, his home and their future - everything starts to change and take form to the audience.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To Gon, it’s about sticking together because they like hanging out. This is the main reason for his request, since it’s the first thing he says about it - and further he adds their individual reasons, to be more convincing, but the core is what it is.
Tumblr media
As we know, Mito overheard everything, specially the moment when they start to compliment her and Gon says she is his real mother. Then, later, we have chapter 65, now a re-signification of Gon’s relationship with Ging and Mito.
After accidentally hearing his words, we can interpret that she’s not that insecure anymore about losing Gon to his new found career. It was bittersweet when Gon left, after all “he is indeed his son”. But she realizes he’s different from Ging - he comes back, he values her, he could be in search of something he doesn’t have like news from his biological mom but instead, he chooses to embrace what he does have. Gon can’t even imagine how impactful his reassuring words were, and it’s also a opportunity for Mito to let out the resent on Ging and the Hunters, giving place to finally trust Gon.
And she tells him what the absence of Ging means to her. How she got hurt, but still wanted to have him around. And that’s when Gon takes Ging out of his place in his heart: it’s time to put him in his true place and make space for those who stay: Mito and Killua.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We don’t need to give titles and special places to those who are undeserved of it and should just perform a specific role in our lives as we let them. Mito herself craved for Ging’s attention, always running after him, seeing him only by his back, hiding/missing just for him to come to her aid. Gon realizes that it’s what he’s doing - he does not have someone to call a father, because Ging never make up to this title. He downgrades Ging to the same person Mito knew.
Tumblr media
And now, even if he still feels the urge to prove Ging he’s not weak and undeserved of attention, company and worth, he definitely is not the same person and does not want to be. Ging is not the “dad who I want to follow the same steps” anymore. And then, we go back to Killua:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“But Bea, what does this have to do with Killua? We’re only seeing Mito and Gon there!” Actually not! We’re seeing Killua too, but not physically. We get to connect Killua to this scene by a simple line Gon said one chapter before, about Killua’s meaning to his life:
Tumblr media
To Gon, it’s enough just to know this answer. Why? This line is VERY specific, literally the same thing he said to Killua in the previous chapter. He chose to bring it to table. It’s a soft - and literary - way to say his priority changed and to connect Killua to his objective. He reclaims Mito as his real mother, downgrades Ging AND shows what it comes first at his mind now - wanting to know if Ging had the same thing he has with Killua, stating his friend’s importance. “Look, Ging, how far I got. Who I took with me. Did you have this?”
And this could easily be sided with the end of Greed Island, when Gon says the first thing he’ll do when finding Ging is to introduce Killua. ‘Cause in his main goal now, the first things that come up to his mind aren’t being just like Ging and reunite with him anymore - it’s the “friend around my age”, it’s “Killua” and everything that refers to him. It changed. Gon was behind something he didn’t have, his father presence and some pride, and comes back with something even better he didn’t have either: a true friendship, who wants to be there and assure his worth.
And for me, that is the reason Togashi ends Mito and Gon’s conversation with a specific panel, not of them, not with a picture of Ging, not with the sky only... but with this:
Tumblr media
Killua. A person not mentioned in their dialogue directly, and someone who’s not family and isn’t in the same room as them. But that is there, respecting his privacy with Mito. This is there for us to catch. It’s not a direct exchange between Gon and Killua, they’ll still do it in their way, because its meant for us: when two characters are not showed together in the same situation/moment, but are referred directly or indirectly, it’s a writing choice that means “it’s for you, the readers, to connect this.”
Togashi could've never put the “did he have friends his age?” line that wouldn’t make a difference - we would go with this Gon “new approach on Ging” because of how Mito feels, and would be satisfying enough. But the author, with this sentence used in the previous chapter and this panel, it’s reclaiming the audience to catch Gon’s new focus and remind us of Killua, that he’s there, relaxed, patient - and does not intend to leave.
EDIT: I truly think Mito will play a major role in the realization of Gon’s feelings. She’s, since the beginning, an important person and a cog who makes his significations move, first subconsciously, now more actively - but I’ll elaborate more on that in future posts.
Not deep, not a serious research, but something fun to elaborate that is implied in text, i’m used to catch this stuff and seeing by this perspective by dealing with literature classes on a daily basis. Does not mean I’m an expert or that I’m right, but that is something I’m quite sure its on purpose. Hope you all enjoyed!

do you think kuraneon is gonna be canon in the official hxh universe and what must have happened?
Whether or not they would be canon is up to Sir Togashi himself. While he does have romantic elements in his previous works like Yu Yu Hakusho and Ten de Showaru Cupid, it's not as explicit in HxH (e.g. Meruem/Komugi).
If you asked me this before knowing about the KuraNeon Marriage Theory (will give a link in the reblog later on) and KuraNeon paired up in mobile games, I would have said "0% chance" because we do not see them interact on-screen (even if I had shipped them since I first laid my eyes on Neon).
However, it is kinda sus that Kurapika became a Nostrade Family Young Boss; with Light and Neon nowhere shown. The more "accepted" theory is that Light is unable to continue and Neon is dead (although I do have rebuttals about Neon being dead - that's another conversation). I do wonder why he had to keep their mafia family name - there is no reason to if he truly let them wither. But from Light's last appearance in a manga panel, Kurapika did reassure him that he'll handle everything and you see the Nostrade mafia family organisation doing well under Kurapika. Which is also why my friend went to bring up that plausible KuraNeon Marriage Theory.
I know that a lot of people think they don’t interact, but that is on-screen. After York New City arc, we don’t see Kurapika until way later, however him being in charge as the Nostrade Boss indicates that he stayed with the Nostrades. God knows what they did while living under one roof.
Another thing that is major sus is the mobile games. Even non-shippers are baffled why KuraNeon is a thing. Kurapika and Neon are seen dressed as Hikoboshi and Orihime in two sets of the mobage cards; a romantic couple that is known in a Japanese legend and celebrated on 7 July (Tanabata Festival). They are even shown writing on coloured papers in one of the cards + Kurapika holding a bamboo - these coloured papers are used during the Tanabata festival where wishes are written on them and hung on bamboo. It is believed that the reunion between the two lovers Hikoboshi and Orihime are so joyous that they grant the wishes of the people. As far as I know, the only pairing that gets to have a Orihime/Hikoboshi theme in their cards is Machi/Hisoka; and we do see Hisoka/Machi having a soft spot for one another in canon (in the current arc, Machi does patch him up after his defeat and Hisoka spared her).
Hmmm.. I should make a post about this whole Tanabata thing actually. Asides from that, they are also the v-day banner in 2019 for the games and she gave him a cake during the valentine’s day event, to which showed a scene of him thinking about what to give her back (and low and behold, Kurapika’s White’s Day card featured him with a gift and him wearing the same outfit of the scene where he thought about what to give her).
In a separate mobile game, they have a special attack together. Their mobage cards have identical backgrounds and themes. Therefore, it isn’t just one mobile game that does this. It makes me wonder why the official team devs do that when this pairing shipping sub-fandom is really small and many even dislike it.
Even as a shipper, it also baffles me why devs do that when they have little screentime together (gotta be more objective here). If you do consider the KuraNeon Marriage Theory or consider that they might end up together in the manga, it makes sense why the official hxh game devs pair them together. And I am unsure about the source - but I think for Japanese manga production of non-manga material, you need approval from the writer? All the more to be suspicious of the mobile games that contains KuraNeon above every single pairing out there.
Hence, if you ask me, there is a chance of Kurapika/Neon being canon. How that might happen is a little tricky and depending on the type of portrayal they will be (I have four interpretations of this ship on my pinned post lol).
I’m not sure if you only define canon as the vanilla/romantic type, or it also includes one that is a little twisted. I've noticed that hxh has friendship and family dynamics that are already complicated and not as wholesome as one would think. I do believe that if KuraNeon were to be canon, it would be the latter interpretation.
There are actually a few things that are needed to be considered for it to happen: 1) Neon’s fate - she needs to be alive (or maybe not)  Now, a lot of people believe she died because Chrollo’s book speculates that she does. However, we don’t see her dead body. It’s literally just Chrollo’s interpretation. This is contrasted by Kurapika that states that the previous Scarlet Eye owners did not need to be killed (and the “daughter of a mafia leader” is one of them). If the daughter of a mafia leader is truly Neon, then it brings a question of who should you believe more: Chrollo or Kurapika? (Imo it’s super interesting how these two guys who are enemies have different narratives on the same girl).
Of course, there was this potential discrepancy I found while re-watching this arc. The Scarlet Eyes that Kurapika bidded for 2.9 billion was a fake. They thought it was stolen when Squala took it with him and died - but it was actually that Kortopi’s Gallery Fake copy disappears after 24hour. So technically, the Eyes is with the Troupe. Now, assuming that Togashi has not forgotten this detail (I believe he still remembers), I do think that it is possible that since Chrollo is the type to get bored of the stuff he steals, he will just sell it and it will be obtained by the later owners. As for “the daughter of a mafia leader”, I’m sure it’s Neon that Kurapika is referring to - be it him mentioning her as merely a previous owner despite the set of Scarlet Eyes being “stolen” or she bought another set. (There is a chance that is not Neon, but another daughter of a random mafia leader, but what are the chances of another daughter being like that?)
I guess I just wanted to point this detail out because many people readily believed Chrollo’s book (it was not even himself). He stated that he did not know when it disappeared.
As for that “Hisoka killed Neon” theory, while it is believable and interesting, the only thing that is doubtful for that is that a) Hisoka could not have gone off to kill Neon in such a short period of time, b) that would be an insult to Kurapika’s capabilities if she was under his care, c) the fortune-telling ability doesn’t bother Hisoka. Pakunoda and Hisoka had a short conversation about the fortune and both of them acknowledged that the future changed. Hisoka wrote over his fortune despite having a good one to manipulate the events in hopes of fighting Chrollo - that is an indication of his belief that he writes his own future, and therefore which is why I argue that the fortune-telling ability never bothered him.
As for the “Kurapika killed Neon” theory, I think... they all need to get one thing straight about Kurapika: as much as possible, except for the spiders, he doesn’t kill (or at least dislikes to kill). He stated that none of the owners had to die even if two preferred to die. If there’s a way, he will not shed blood. Besides, Kurapika doesn’t actually hate Neon - contrary to popular belief. There wasn’t a single manga panel that indicates his hatred for her; or even annoyance. It was only the time where Mellody mentioned that he will kill her if she stands in the way, but Kurapika, as much as mentioned before, doesn’t kill if there is an alternative way.
I have yet to fully explore possible reasons why Neon’s ability disappears from Chrollo’s book if she’s still alive (my friend thinks it’s related to Kurapika’s dolphin ability). However, there are many rebuttals to the theories on how she died.
But yeah, I think for it to be canon, Neon has to be alive. Unless... they were already canon and he sailed to the Dark Continent and she died slightly before that event (tbh I rather not have this).
2) Kurapika’s fate - he needs to live
Number 2 is a condition is if they aren’t canon yet before he sails to the Dark Continent.
One thing that confuses people is that they think that just because Kurapika is under the Kakin Employment, it means that he is no longer affiliated with the Nostrades. The Kakin Employment contract is temporary - he is still affiliated with the Nostrades (and their business is bodyguarding, take note). As for him being in the Zodiac, he is still the Nostrade Family Young Boss - being part of the Zodiacs is like some political committee.
I know there are rumours (I say rumours cause I don’t see the interview script by my own eyes) that Togashi once indicated that the Phantom Troupe and Kurapika will all die. I do think that Togashi can kill one of his main characters, but there’s one thing that makes me question whether he changed his mind: Nitro Rice from the Dark Continent.
The Nitro Rice is a thing in the Dark Continent that prolongs one’s life - a direct solution to Kurapika’s Emperor Time problem. I think if he does last until they reach the Dark Continent, he has a chance to prolong his lifespan that he has lost while using Emperor Time.
Now, if he indeed gets to survive, manages to complete his mission, there’s another problem he will face: a will to live. Because currently, all he has ever lived for is bringing justice to his clan. Beyond that, what can he live for? Which kind of makes the ending for him to happily live with someone (be it his friends or having a family) a suitable one.
3) Neon’s development
Neon is seriously misunderstood among the fandom - even her personality. I’ve seen a lot of Kurapika x (other character) ships where Neon is the 3rd party in fanfics; and it is a one-sided love.
However, Neon is actually an emotionally detached person while Kurapika is the one that gets attached to people, even if he initially avoids them. Neon has what psychologists will call “Avoidant-Dismissive Attachment Style” while Kurapika has “Avoidant-Fearful Attachment Style”. This is rightfully so due to their different backgrounds. I actually believe that between the two of them, Kurapika will be the one who falls first or if this is one-sided, Kurapika is the one that likes her because of their attachment styles.
Neon has zero friends, is materialistic and lacks sympathy for dead people (the complete opposite of Kurapika). She believes in focusing on the present and the living (it’s actually a pretty good principle to live for). She needs to learn how to be more attached to people and learn compassion - which she actually is seen as being capable of. She was surprised that Eliza broke down and cried, and even forgo bidding physically. I think this is an indication of her starting to feel sympathy for people and perhaps being more mature - cemented by the fact that she lost her powers.
Therefore, I do think she needs to learn how to warm her heart up to people (which she might have already started to after the York New incident) if she were to feel something for Kurapika.
4) Kurapika’s view of her
Okay, this is one factor that is either you take it the vanilla way or the kinky way lmao. I actually wrote a Cognitive Dissonance Theory for Kurapika on my Tumblr post for this one (will try to link it in the reblog).
Kurapika’s initial belief is that flesh collectors are scums who should be arrested, yet he is surprised to see that his flesh-collecting employer is a girl of his age. I think there is already dissonance in his mind there once he met her.
Contrary to popular belief, Kurapika doesn’t hate Neon (there’s no single manga panel that ever once showed he detest her or feel annoyed with her; as compared to other employees of hers). In fact, he does quickly understand that Neon is being exploited by her father - to which he corrects Basho about the situation. In the manga, when he woke up after the fever, he says her name (in the 2011 anime, it was “Boss” but in the manga, it’s “Neon”) and immediately asks about her; which indicates that he is concerned for her. Of course, she is his employer but in that situation where he is bedridden and not working, him asking about her won’t be just due to him working as a bodyguard.
However, this doesn’t show that he has feelings for her. It only proves that a) he doesn’t hate her, b) he does care about her. He needs to see Neon as more than just a flesh collector for him to like her; on top of spending time with one another. He needs to see (if he hasn’t already) that she is a girl his age that has a different predicament than him.
This is the vanilla way I guess.
The darker and more saucy interesting interpretation would be him thinking it’s okay to objectify her just as much as she objectifies his clan’s eyes (that’s another post I gotta do for another day - but hey, this interpretation is paralleled to Tserreidnich/Theta).
5) Spending Time with one another
I think as mentioned, it is already a given that Kurapika and Neon had spent time together under one roof off-screen while we see Gon and Killua on-screen during the 3 arcs. However, I think Neon cannot suddenly become less detached and Kurapika cannot want something more than his mission at the moment; so I do think that even if they had spent time before Dark Continent Exploration arc, Neon and Kurapika needs to spend time together after he comes back (that’s if they haven’t banged before he sailed to the Dark Continent like they did in my fic lmao).
So yeah, I think these are generally the five things that I think should happen if they were to be canon.
I don’t know why I was compelled to do a long-ass post of this, but I hope this answers your question. I can go on and write a report about this but Imma stop here for now.

Hello Ruri, with a few days until the end of snk, how do you feel? Do you think Isayama of a compelling ending (for you)? Do you have any criticism or something you didnt like about the final arc? Is there a death that you found unnecessary? What are your favorite characters? What couples do you like? (i mean other couples other than eremika)
I think there are several questions, but i like to read your opinions, i feel that you are a voice of reason whitin this chaotic fandom!
I wish you a good day (or night?) i hope this ask makes sense, english is not my language so i used a translator hahaha.
Hi anon!
Thank youuu! Don’t worry! I understood everything perfectly!
I’m... I feel weird. You know I expected the manga to end on January so these last months were... well... I wanted the manga to end soon because I already want part of the fandom to calm down. Once the manga ends, I thought it would bring peace but now I think this is just the beginning.
Now, personally, I feel just a bit sad and very excited.
Regarding the ending... I think that if Isayama goes for a last chapter with the same feeling of ch. 137+71 (bc of Carla’s words to Eren), It will be moving. If it’s compelling or not it depends on how Isayama manages to mantain the inner logic of the story. The meaning of sacrifices, Eren’s lines, Mikasa’s “the world is cruel but beautiful”, the idea that memories are important in order to be free from repeating the same mistakes... you know... what he showed us many times throughout the whole story. It would be a shame that he takes any of them back. And I’m confident he won’t move from those messages.
About the whole final Arc.... SUCH A WASTED POTENTIAL.... You know I’m also fan of Togashi but not because of HxH but a previous manga called Yu Yu Hakusho. It was a weekly manga and lasted 19 vols. The final arc had such an incredible and deep potential and since the mangaka was already tired of the series he rushed it so bad that everything happened off camera. Sad. I feel like Isayama went through the same just it wasn’t so evident as in Yu Yu Hakusho. In Yu Yu Hakusho, Togashi found the identity of this story in the last two arcs. To me it was the beginning actually... where everything could turn deeper and complex... In Isayama’s case, he started with a clear identity for his story. He built his whole world and story repeating over and over again the same topics with side characters just to culminate in the three main characters having to deal with the same struggles previous characters dealt with (often their own mentors f. ex. Levi with Erwin and Mikasa with Eren... With Levi being a mentor for her in regards of the mercy killing).
I argue non stop with a friend who says it’s rushed and nothing makes actual sense. I wonder if it’s needed to show again the same struggles Mikasa is going through when we already saw it with Levi for example. Wouldn’t it be unnecessary if Isayama is deliberately choosing to show us that every character is the same and feels the same? That would be Eren’s concept that every human is the same... So some fans feel like Isayama just ruined Eren’s character because he didn’t develop him properly.. bc he hid his POV, whereas I think he just hid it because he wanted us to find Eren’s feelings and reasons in his previous developments and in other characters. Thinking about the fact that the coordinate and Eldians are there to connect them, I think it’s all an artistic decision... “Go and find Eren’s pieces in every story I told you before”.
On that matter, you see how discardable every side character was. One of Isayama’s flaws is that he uses his characters as blank puppets for the story, once they showed the topic he needed for the macro story, he kills them or “sidelines” them. Hanji as the best example. Since Isayama needed Armin to be the commander and for that he needed Hanji out of the picture, there you have it. I don’t really mind it but for a story that may have fans that like just one character who’s not one of the three main characters it may be discouraging. He is not really good at fanservice inside the canon. Or the way he handled Historia. A lot of fans of her dropped the story because of that. He had no remorses on sacrificing her just to show how every character lost something because of the rumbling. Again, I don’t mind it... I even respect it because he had no scruples to sacrifice a character just for the big concept he had. But I get not every fan is prepared to endure such decision.
On the topic of deaths... if they were necessary or not... For Isayama death is not a big deal. I guess his main concept is that lives are something like a coin you can trade for a change. He chose to make characters immortal through the memories of the living. As I said before, Hanji’s death was rushed and too instrumentalized. If he had displayed everything a little different, it would have been better.
As a side comment... Isayama’s virginal writting way may be a thing if he wants to write more mature content in his next works... --> comment for a friend of mine... he has indeed to improve his kissing scenes so they look more natural.
As favourite characters.... well... I like every character. I got to like every character even if they are evil because they are needed for the story. I like characters that are mistaken too because they portray through those flaws how humans truly are. My first is Levi of course and he will always be. Then EMA and Kenny. I have something for Ackermans as you see. As female character I relate to... Annie. I got to like Erwin and Reiner too. Falco is one of the new characters I like since the beginning.
And couples... all the canon couples. Falbi, Aruannie, Yumihisu. I enjoy how every couple had its own leitmotiv but all of them were in the end about freedom and how love can defy the chains of destiny. (And how Isayama just crushed them all without mercy...again, in order to show that in that cruel world full of wars there’s no way to enjoy love... However... change may come if we are lucky...)
So... That’s it! :)
Thanks for the ask! <3 Have a great day/night!

A - Age: 25 going on 26
B - Biggest fear: Loss/Losing a loved one, The possibility of Nothingness after Death aka the thought of my consciousness just dissipating into nothingness/losing all sense of self after death really scares the crap outta me on a hyperventilating/panic attack kinda level, Heights/Falling, Drowning, Bugs/Insects/Arachnids, Oh, and let’s not forget about Sleep Paralysis, that can be a real bitch too (haven’t had one of those in a really really really long-ass while, welp here’s hoping I didn’t just fucking jinx myself *sigh*). -___-;
C - Current time: 10:25 PM
D - Drink you last had: Vanilla Chai Tea
E - Every day starts with: Waking up perplexed and trying to contemplate what little I can remember of my fleeting dreams, before they slip outta my grasp completely.
F - Favorite song: Tbh, just like with books, films and anime/tv-series, I’m fond of a lot of different varieties of genres of music, and can never really just stick with one sole fave song (from punk-rock, soft rock, indie rock, jazz, hip-hop, r&b, pop, electronic, etc); So for now let’s just say that I’m really digging J-pop/J-rock, RWBY/RvB ost, YYH ost, a mix of several Anime opening/ending themes, 80′s/90′s rock/pop songs, Green Day, etc. ^^;
G - Ghosts, are they real?: Heh, If someone had asked me this years ago, my stubborn smart-ass teenage self would have scoffed and probably would have disputed against this to no end, convinced of the illogicalness of it all. But surprisingly enough, coming from a semi non-religious/agnostic person like myself…..I gotta say: Yes on this one. And I say this for Three reasons.
The first being, that deep deep down, the mere thought of my consciousness just dissipating into nothingness after death, and losing all sense of self just really really makes me uneasy and overall just really scares the living-shit out of me, on an almost hyperventilating panic-attack kind of level.
For another, when I was but a mere youngling (around 7-12), we lived in a “supposedly haunted house” (let’s just say that I remember there were times when things def. felt really really off, uneasy, and just plain eerie, the chills down my spine didn’t help either). Who knows maybe growing up with YYH subconsciously helped me not be so damn freaked out about it all, and helped me handle the possibility of it with a bit of grace. lol xD
The last reason, a real personal and selfish one at that, is that deep down, a part of me really wouldn’t mind if the idea of an “afterlife” did hold some real truth to it, mostly cause the thought of meeting up with an old friend of mine that has long since passed from this world, is a rather comforting thought.
H - Hometown: Back in the day, as a teenager, my friends and classmates would often exaggeratingly refer to it being just: (plain-ass boring), but in reality it was nothing more than a small, quaint, peaceful little town called: Fairfield.
I - In love with: I’ve always been in love with the art and craft of storytelling; just any and every amazingly well-written / crafted fantastical stories of fiction, in any form of media, whether it be via the written word/books, through anime/web series, TV series, films/movies, videogames, etc. Speaking of which, besides RWBY, I’ve gone and spiraled right back into being in awe of Yu Yu Hakusho, and just how amazing Togashi is at his craft. ^_^
J - Jealous of: Nowadays, nothing really.
Though the few times I’ve actually felt real envy, were a couple of times as a child …..And the main reason for that was due to the fact that I didn’t have the best childhood, let’s just say that emotional abusement, and domestic house fights all thanks to my super religious Catholic, and overall a pitifully poor excuse of an Aunt who was living with us at the time, obviously didn’t leave me entirely unscathed (hence why I have anxiety problems as well as trust issues, why I used to sometimes have a sorta hard time with religion, struggle with the concept of having faith. But yeah, I guess I’ve sorta made my peace with it all……But back to the matter at hand, that’s why, as a kid, I envied those, whom I presumed must of had a nice, stable and so-called “normal” childhood.
….Yup, though that was indeed a particularly dim time in my life, I’m just glad that Yu Yu Hakusho helped get me through most of that shit, which was nice, well that and the possibility that our old-house was “supposedly haunted” (so yeah, I could sorta relate to Yusuke on some of these levels, which at the time helped me to feel less alone and less of a misfit than I thought I previously was, especially in regards to not having the best or normal living situation, nor the best childhood, and that a team/group of friends was also a real possibility of the word “family”, it’s why I don’t take betrayal lightly and why I value the concept of friendship / loyalty / camaraderie so damn highly, it helped to fill a much needed void). ^^;
The other time I felt a twinge of jealousy were a couple of times during my pre-teens/teenage years (mostly for stupid silly little reasons), like feeling a bit insecure about my place in certain friendships, but being reassured later on that I wasn’t being replaced, or overlooked. (like I said it was stupid). ^^;
N - Number of siblings: None, I am an only child.
O - One wish: I wish could have gone about things a little bit differently in the past….. So many things that were left unsaid, things I didn’t realize back then that I had taken for granted or should have appreciated more.
Oh, and let’s not forget the stupid, silly, face-palming moments I had as an adolescent that still haunt me/make me slightly cringe from embarrassment to this day; some I’m willing to accept and can even look fondly back on …..but, there are a few stupid moments (things I’ve said that had slightly hurt others) were I wish I could just go back in time and slap myself upside the head for, or at least take back and erase all together). -__-;
But in all seriousness, there is one thing I really wish for. Remember that old friend of mine that I mentioned a while back in this post…..well, it’s been about 8 years give or take since they passed away from cancer, I was 19 when it happened, and I know I’ve made my peace with that ages ago, but there are still times I really wish I hadn’t taken those moments with my friend for granted; looking back I really wish I had taken the time to really appreciate it all a lot more.
My old friend was the type of person who said they considered themselves as “obnoxious” (which always left me rather perplexed and made me raise an eyebrow skeptically at them in response; I never once considered them as obnoxious, I mean stubborn sure, optimistic and always trying to look for the good in any situation as well as an incredibly kind and gentle soul, for damn sure, quick-witted, wise, with a brilliant mind when it came to arithmetic and science most definitely (something I really respected, admired and even left me a little in awe with how natural and easily these two subjects came for them, considering I can’t even solve a sudoku puzzle to save my life, that’s how bad me and math don’t mix lol), was incredibly open-minded (a trait I always had but later became even more reinforced and ingrained into my psyche in thanks to them) even though they were religiously devoted and faithful to a tee (something I still struggle with from time to time but have long since their passing, semi changed my perspective on), something which used to cause us to butt heads here and there, was a massive Star Wars, Lord of Rings / Tolkien, and Firefly fan, was real fond of the color green and Tigger from Winnie the Pooh (hence their fave TTFN aka Ta Ta For Now farewell they’d give), was the type to give the best out of the blue bear-hugs, was someone whom like myself really loved the rain (used to say that they considered it quite cleansing to the soul) was the person who first introduced me to the wonders of Tea, was a bright light in my life that helped healed the scars and broken remnants that remained from my really messed childhood, was someone I greatly admired as well as respected, and was maybe even a little more of a playful dork than I could ever wish to be (I mean, for fuck’s sake, we used to have actual poke-wars and keep tabs of who was winning). lol xD
But never, never did I once think that they were annoying or obnoxious.
……..I just wish it could have occurred to me at the time to have told them that face to face (back when there was still time), and reassured them otherwise, I mean looking back at it now, in hindsight, it was obviously something they were always a little insecure about and just played it off half-jokingly, something I never even realized till now, and It kinda twinges/tugs at my heartstrings a bit (in regret) that it just never really occurred to my stupid, oblivious, teenage self back then to have told them otherwise.
I just hope that deep down my dear old friend knew how much we cared, how much they really mattered to us in the end, as well as how deeply and sorely they’re still missed (cause not a day goes by where I don’t think of them). But most importantly, I hope they knew that they were someone I was real damn proud to consider and call: Friend. :’)
P - Person you last texted: My Mom
Q - Questions you’re always asked: Besides the typical, “What’s up?” or “How are you?” lol xD…. Lately it’s been things like: What are your thoughts / speculations on what’s to come for the latest season of RWBY and the like, which is nice, considering the hiatus we’re currently on. ^-^
S - Song last sung: More like hummed; I had that damn catchy Level E Opening Theme song stuck in my head a few nights ago, and ended up humming it whilst in the shower. lol x)
T -Time you woke up: 6:00 A.M.
U - Underwear color: Black and White.
V - Vacation destination: Japan would be pretty cool. :D
W - Worst habits: Besides my bouts of indecisiveness, speaking fast when I’m nervous, and insomnia from time to time as well as coffee being my vice? o.o
Hmm - Welp, let’s see….I can be a real worry-wart, and have a bad-habit to unnecessarily over-think and mull over even the littlest things, especially over past or upcoming situations (I can thank my anxiety/social anxiety for that one).
I also have a really hard time when it comes to opening-up/baring my soul aka letting others get too emotionally close to me. Rest assured, I’m not proud of it, but it seems like keeping to myself or keeping others at arm’s length seems to be my go-to comfort-zone / coping mechanism when it comes to avoiding getting hurt, and what’s worse, if it get’s really bad, I tend to do this subconsciously and pull away or distant myself emotionally for a bit, especially on harder days, when I’m more susceptible towards my depression, which really really fucking sucks cause if there’s one thing I really value rather highly, it’s the concept of loyalty / friendship / camaraderie a great deal.
....And it’s not like I want to deliberately push people away, the problem is that over the years it has manifested itself as a goddamn reflex, hence it being one of my more worse bad habits that I sometimes still find myself struggling with at times (and it doesn’t help that as an introvert, I prefer to really enjoy time on my own / quiet moments to myself a lot more).
Tch, I’m starting to sound like a loner / lone wolf here. -____-;
....Either way, I guess I gotta thank my fucking social anxiety/apathy/depression and overall past trust-issues for this one as well. *sigh* Trust me, I know I have issues, and if this affects you in anyway, just know that it ain’t nothing personally against you, I know/am well aware that I’m the damn problem.  -__-;
X - X-rays you’ve had: Dental X-rays when going to the Dentist, but yeah that’s it really (never broken a bone in my life). ^^;
Y - Your favorite food: I’m actually really partial to: Italian and Chinese food, though I’m always down for doing a small cook-out/grill out once and awhile.
Z - Zodiac sign: Western Zodiac (Leo) / Chinese Zodiac (Sheep/Ram).
