It was supposed to be a quick in and out mission. Y/N and Tony were sent back in time to 1944; one day before Captain America and the Howling Commandos deployed to their next mission at the Austrian Alps, in Europe.
The duo were supposed to retrieve some lost files regarding Hydra's hidden bunks and labs back in the days. After the fight with Thanos, there were rumours of the re-creation of Project Winter Soldier lead by an organization that once associated with Hydra. So, they need all the information they could get their hands on; including the ones that are lost decades ago.
Unfortunately for them SHIELD used to be shitty at storing physical files back in the days. To be fair they still do, especially now that technology had advanced. Every single information were at the tip of their fingers; from typical criminal records to the name of every single doctor and nurses who were present when the person was born.
They literally have everything. And nothing at the same time.
And honestly, the mission was quick as they predicted. Tony managed to scanned the needed files and some others that he thought would be important. He's extra like that too, which was a plus.
However quick the mission supposed to be, they barely make it though, especially when the guards were suspicious of Tony's apparently "hippie" beard. It was such a shame. So much for dressing up in 40's style. They kind of nailed the outfit and aesthetics, according to Steve anyway.
However, thankfully by the time they got out of the facility they managed fit right in with crowd. The wave of people lead the duo along its current, more and more people joined in to the point that they weren't able to find any quiet place to activate their time device.
"I thought we're still in WWII? Why is there fucking a parade in the middle of the day?" Tony being unapologetically sarcastic as always.
Y/N looked around as she observed, there was couple of people animatedly, albeit, excitedly exclaimed to the streak of success of Captain America and the Howling Commandos in the war.
A little to the right of them, were a group of children who were semi-cosplaying as Captain America and his dream team, passionately play-fighting with the enemies as if they were in a theater performance.
"I guess they're celebrating small wins. Steve and his team did have several successful raids since the battle at Azzano." It was in fact true; what Y/N speculated was exactly the very reason of the current occasion.
Tony simply shrugged as he stretched his neck higher to hopefully find the end the crowd, "Sure, just keep your eyes open for a place to time jump. I don't want to be stuck in the middle of another war." Y/N nodded as she looked around the sides, wondering if there's an empty alleyway that they could use.
The more sketchy looking it was, the better.
The crowd was chaotic with different mix of conversations and cheers; voices intertwining with one another, each sentences criss and crosses into indecipherable storyline. But even then, Y/N could recognized that breathy, slightly giggly laughter anywhere.
Especially when he brushed right by her.
Y/N was well aware of how madly in love she was with Bucky even with the coy cat-and-mouse game they were playing for months. She knew exactly the hold he had on her soul that at some point, she was conviced that he still would've turn her head in any lifetime.
But that idea was only supposed to be one of the secrets in her mind; the thoughts of a hopeless romantic that she was. Certainly, she didn't dreamt of the vision for it come true. But there she was, frozen on her spot when the time stood still on the crowded street in 1944; fortuitously crossing path with man she fell in love with.
There weren't any suitable explanation for this other than it was fate. In that short milliseconds, Y/N saw the resemblance of the sight to a memory of hers in the crowded room a few short years ago; his left arm slung around Steve's neck, letting his weight leaned on his super soldier friend as he let out a hearty laughter.
There were only slight difference from what she saw before and what she currently seeing; Bucky wore an all black suit at that party, now he's wearing his military uniform in a parade. Bucky was dead drunk on Asguardian mead that night, now he's as sober as a soldier deprived of liquor. Bucky's left hand was adorned with high-tech vibranium metal, now that very hand was still made of flesh and blood, still alive.
During that brief moment of revelation, she truly believed that they were supposed to find this.
Whatever this is supposed to be; Fate? Love? Both? She was not sure either.
She was so stuck on holding her gaze on his back as the young soldier walked a few steps away from her that she didn't notice how the people in the surge glared at her unmoving state or how she had been astray from Tony.
Well, at least it only lasted until someone bumped into her and she staggered backwards, inevitably fell on the ground.
Y/N groaned but quickly patted her pockets to find her time device was still there. I mean, she can never be sure if it was just an accident that she fell or someone intended to distract her while pick-pocketing her belongings.
Though other people would probably already stood on  their feet but Y/N was still on the dusty road, as she was busy recollecting her mental state rather than her physical.
That was when a calloused hand reached out to her, offering a kind help.
She didn't think twice to take his hand, let alone looking up at his face when she gripped it tight enough to make a solid foundation to push herself against the gravity, "Oh dear me! Thank you so much, sir. I really..." She lost her momentum when she met the pale blue of his eyes, "...appreciate it." She ended the sentence breathlessly.
It's Bucky. Her brain tried to let her process the thought. It was not her Bucky but still... it's Bucky. Her eyes then fell to where their skin touched. Warm and gentle. His left hand felt the exact same as his right. It made her to cave in the urge to hold it a little longer, to savour the memory of what it could've been; not that she weren't fond of his vibranium arm but curiosity can be such a fickle thing.
Bucky smiled, "Glad to help, my lady." And oh dear does he smiled effortlessly, freely; as if he knew he deserved to feel joy in his life.
Even if she didn't want to, she had to let go of his hand after a few seconds too long of holding it when she was already up and ready to go. She returned his smile though her heart was barely tough enough to stop the spreading of its cracks, "Really, I can't thank you enough."
In reality, it was probably unnecessary to thank him that much for helping her to get back on her feet, but Y/N wasn't really thanking him just for that.
Unbeknownst to him, she was thanking him for not holding back a smile, for not overthinking about the things he might have done to draw a conclusion that he was undeserving have the luxury to smile, for unapologetically just living the life he supposed to have.
She thanked him for it.
Bucky chuckled amusingly as he slightly titled his head to the side. A charming pull on the corner of his lips revealed a smile that could swoon anyone on sight, especially her.
"Well, we're having a little party tonight before deploying to Europe tomorrow. So, maybe you can thank me by letting me bring you to the dance? How about that, doll?" She almost forgot that Steve was there next to him, until Bucky references the word "we".
And especially when his words might just pulled Y/N's heartstrings in ways that she could never thought someone could do. It was awfully slow, almost too delicate of a pull, but each inches of it pained her deeply.
If it was up to her, she would've said yes a million times over but she knew she can't. And the voice in her earpiece reminded her of it, "Y/N, we gotta go." Tony urged as he watched her from the corner of the street.
Y/N tried her best not let her facial expression flatter, "Unfortunately, I can't. I'm going back to my hometown today." It wasn't exactly a lie when she made that excuse.
"Ohh, I see. You're not from here, huh?" Bucky was very honest as his reaction clearly showed his disappointment. Though not at her, just at the situation.
Her brows briefly crunch into an apologizing plead before she boldly grabbed him by the collar of his uniform, slightly pulled him down to her level, while the other hand cupped one side of his face.
She tiptoed herself upwards as she pressed a firm yet sweet kiss on the smooth skin of his cheek and whispered against it, "But, I hope this would do."
Lost for words, heck, Bucky was lost for thoughts. What was left was his own heart thumping hard and loud that he bet Steve can hear it from where he was standing. His cheeks became warmer by the second and the redness spreads even to the tip of his ears.
Of course he had his cheek kissed before, but not like this. None of them felt like this. They were always too fast, too hasty.
Hers was different. It lingered a little longer, gently leaving her imprint on him. He can feel her grip on his collar, the stroke of her thumb on his cheek and of course the soft pressure of her lips on the other side of his face. He could everything so particularly.
Bucky was rendered speechless even after she pulled her lips away; it was too soon for his comfort. Eyes wide open, his lips slightly parted as he let himself lost in the pleasant surprise.
He thought she would parted herself and ran away feeling embarrassed, but she did the very opposite. Y/N lead his forehead to lean on hers, tip of their nose grazed, and her lips hovered above his.
So close, yet refused to merge with one another.
Y/N whispered quietly, as if she was talking to herself, "You'll be fine, James. You'll find home in the future. I promise."
Her voice trembled as Bucky just noticed how wet her eyes were becoming. With that amount of tears in them, he wondered if her sight were all blurry now.
Y/N took in a shaky breath before continuing, "You just need to survive the winter and trust me at the end of that season, you'll reach the sun again." Her thumbs softly traces his cheeks as she spoke.
Bucky didn't quite understand what she was saying but if he loosely translate it, it would mean that 'she believed that he'll be back soon after the war'. But then again, he felt like there were some major things that was missing from the context that he came up with.
Y/N's earpiece send another transmission of Tony's voice, "Okay, seriously. Come on, Juliette. Your other Romeo is waiting for you." She couldn't help but to smile as she closed her eyes, letting the excess tears fall down to her cheeks.
She didn't want to say goodbye, as she knew that this was not where their story ends, at least not his; that's for sure. So, she simply smiled up at him with a reassuring look in her eyes before stepping back. She then, briefly turned her attention to the dumbfounded Steve, gracing him with a similar smile before walking away.
It was just a few steps away when her hand was caught in between someone's, "Hey!" Y/N looked over her shoulder to see Bucky; wide eye, blinking in disbelief and blushing red, all at the same time, "WiIl... Will I see you again?" He asked, though hesitant; wondering if he was being rude.
Compared to what she had done to him, he was just being too polite.
Y/N chuckled dearly, "Of course." Then she replied confidently, "I owe you a dance after all." Her lips parted into a cheeky grin.
Bucky let out a sharp relieved sigh as his lips mimic hers, "I'll look forward to it, doll." He slightly bowed as his hand pulled hers closer to his lips, "Until then." He placed a soft kiss on the back of her hand as his gaze remained on hers.
Apparently, it was Y/N's turn to blush to his antics. She stepped back shyly as her cheeks brightens before scurring away. Maybe, Bucky was right with his prediction prior. She did ran away feeling embarrassed after all.
She jogged towards the next corner of the street, meeting up with Tony. The older might have eyeing her in a teasing manner, but his smirk was the biggest giveaway. Y/N simply rolled her eyes, even if her lips maintained its shape from the aftermath of her encounter with Bucky.
As they entered deeper into the alleyway, Tony spoke, "I gotta admit, young terminator was a hottie. Not hotter than me, of course." he claimed.
Y/N frowned, letting out a scoff, "What do you mean "was"? He still is." Call it bias, but at least she was telling the truth.
Tony shrugged, "Meh. Would argue to differ. But, whatever that floats your boat, I guess?" Tony sassed as they clicked on the time device at the same time, revealing a swirlling portal, in front of them.
Y/N quirked her brow, her hands on her hips, "You're just jealous that he aged like a fine fucking wine and you don't." She purposely challenged his ego.
Tony dramatically rolled his eyes, "Please. He wishes." He walked into portal with an attitude, making Y/N laughed at his childish acts.
She looked back at the alleyway one last time and reminisce the last moments of a past that she never belong in. As she walked into the portal, she thought that maybe, it's time to pay her debt to Bucky.
End.

A/N: The start of bucky drabbles because why not. This is considered a drabble for me because i feel like there's lack of story building. But, you tell me. And did you enjoy it?

Pregnant nat being clingy to everyone at the compound bc readers out on an extended mission but her clinginess keeps scaring people bc she sneaks up on them without realizing she is! so as soon as reader gets back everyone is like THANK GOD no more frights lol
Oh, this is chaotic!
---
Tony
It started with Tony.
Which... was surprise.
The man was in the workshop, when Natasha walked in.
You had been gone for a few days at that point, and she was getting increasingly lonely.
The man was intently focused upon the thing he was working on, a wrench in his hands, unknown to the woman standing behind him.
“What are you working on?”
With her question, and a hand upon his shoulder, Tony jumped out of his skin, sending the wrench in his hands flying.
Steve
The blonde had a strict (and full) diet.
A good portion of his spare time was spent in the kitchen, cooking his many meals, and prepping them for the following days.
Normally it was calm, and he was left to his vices, if not with a couple of the team members passing in and out, and hanging around and just chatting.
This had never happened before.
Arms suddenly wrapped around his middle, causing the man’s shoulders to jump up to his ears and a sharp gasp to sound from him. If it weren’t for the pregnancy bump brushing against his back, Steve would have lashed out.
You had only been gone a week, and already his heart was near exploding out of his chest with the amount of times Natasha had scared him.
Thor
The God was getting ready for bed, actually he was already in bed, he was actually tucking Mjolnir into the makeshift bed he had crafted beside his own... he’s a strange man. But it was sweet none-the-less.
With a pat to the covered handle, he smiled to his hammer, blind to the red-head who had settled into the bed behind him. “Goodnight, Mjolnir.”
“Goodnight, Thor.”
Everyone heard his scream throughout the compound that night.
Bruce
Scaring Bruce was never a smart nor wise thing to do.
And even in her hormonal and clingy state, Natasha knew not to touch him, or talk, in case she surprised him so much that his alter ego would break through.
However, she was still a pregnant woman wanting comfort from her friends and family (and people she considered so) while her partner was away on a mission without her or any other team members.
So, that's why, when Bruce was hard at work in the lab, and he turned around only to find Natasha sitting on one of the stools not too far from the scientist, a startled noise still left his mouth. He was just glad he didn’t have anything dangerous in his hands at that time.
Wanda
Natasha had no one to cuddle up to during movie nights anymore, so she was forced to find substituted for your absence.
And Wanda was the person she was brought to in that moment.
The witch might have been a mind reader, but she didn’t have senses like Peter.
So, when her attention was raptly upon the playing movie, and she suddenly felt a body press against her side, the popcorn went flying, landing all over Sam.
Which was poetic justice, in a way, considering her fear was heightened by his choice of horror movie.
Clint
Clint knew his best friend inside and out. The only person he knew more than the red-head, was his wife.
But pregnant Natasha threw him a curveball, because he still knew her, but God, was everything skewed.
Everyone knew how much she cared for his children, and with her pregnancy, she only wanted to be around children more. Maternal instincts going haywire. Clint and Laura thought it was sweet how often she would visit the family at their farm, more so during your mission away.
But one thing that the archer hated?
How when he was outside, honing his marksman skills, and more often than not, Natasha would be there, handing him an arrow. Never once failing to make him startle at her sudden presence.
He knows thinks she was doing it on purpose.
Yelena
The sisters were closer than ever since their reunion a few years ago.
No matter how much they loved once another, they still bickered like cats and dogs.
“God dammit, Natasha!”
It was hard to spook Yelena, but if anyone could do it, it would be Natasha.
“Why are you yelling?!”
All the blonde wanted to do was take a nap with her dog, walking into her dark bedroom, talking a seat on her own bed when a cats cry sounded.
“Why are you sleeping in my room, with your cat?!”
That one was Liho’s fault, Natasha liked to excuse.
You
It was late when you came back home.
The compound was silent as you walked the halls, until suddenly someone was one your back hugging you.
Now, you would have assumed it was Natasha considering how long it had been since you even had contact with your pregnant fiancé.
But you were wrong.
It was Tony.
The billionaire had his arms wrapped around your middle, hugging you close. Before you could even voice your surprised confusion, the man rushed to speak.
“Thank God, you’re back! Natasha has been driving us all up the wall, its like living in a horror movie, she scares us all the time.”
“She’s been scaring you?”
“Yeah.” He nodded into your back. “She’s been craving affection from everyone since you were gone, and she goes all super-spy to get it!”
When you got into bed that night, you woke Natasha up, causing the woman to cling to you, not letting you go for a long time.
She was by your side the whole time the next few days. Even when the other team members reacted the same way Tony had, the night you came home.
You were banned from going on missions after that. At least until the red-head gave birth.

Outside the California State Capitol last month, a fitness trainer turned school board president fired up the crowd at a parental rights rally, telling them they were all fighters in “a spiritual battle” for their kids and must answer the call from God.
Sonja Shaw, who was elected to the Chino Valley Unified School District board of education last November with an assist from a local megachurch and its Christian nationalist pastor, didn’t equivocate in naming the enemy: state Democratic officials who are challenging her right-leaning policies—and drafting laws that hinder book bans and protect teachers from harassment.
“Today we stand here and declare in his almighty name that it’s only a matter of time before we take your seats and we be a God-fearing example to the nation, how God is using California to lead the way,” Shaw crowed, adding, “We already know who has won this battle. You will be removed in Jesus’s name! You, Satan, are losing.”
Now Shaw is in the national spotlight in wake of her Chino school board passing codes that ban pride flags in classrooms and force educators to inform parents if their children identify as transgender—the first such policy to be passed in the state.
This summer, Shaw’s school board meetings, about 35 miles east of Los Angeles, became chaotic spectacles, ones that attracted the Proud Boys and other right-wing extremists and pitted them against students and parents protesting what they’re calling anti-LGBTQ practices that endanger children. When California superintendent of schools Tony Thurmond appeared at the July meeting in opposition, Shaw unceremoniously silenced him.
Weeks after state Attorney General Rob Bonta announced a civil rights probe into Shaw’s “gender disclosure” policy, his office sued the school board. Bonta said the policy violates the California constitution and state law, and would cause LGBTQ+ students, “mental, emotional, psychological and potential physical harm,” according to a press release.
Other right-leaning school boards across the state have followed Chino Valley Unified’s lead. Shortly before filing suit against the Chino board, Bonta issued statements denouncing the Anderson Union High School District, Temecula Valley Unified and Murrieta Valley Unified school boards’ decisions to pursue “copycat” anti-trans policies.
“These students are currently under threat of being outed to their parents against their will, and many fear that the District’s policy will force them to make a choice: either ‘walk back’ their constitutionally and statutorily protected rights to gender identity and gender expression, or face the risk of emotional, physical, and psychological harm,” Bonta said.
To concerned observers in Chino, Shaw’s tack is not unlike what’s happening at school boards across the country, with brawls over curriculum, social emotional learning, and the banning of books that focus on race and LGBTQ issues. Extremist groups like Moms for Liberty have spawned a mainstream narrative that public schools are “indoctrinating” children with “woke” ideology and into believing they’re a different gender.
But in Chino Valley, the school board’s new direction appears to be spurred on by a man behind the curtain: Shaw’s megachurch pastor Jack Hibbs.
Indeed, three of the board’s five members belong to his church, Calvary Chapel Chino Hills.
At the Sacramento rally, Hibbs boasted of his congregation’s work in electing Shaw. Calling her a “true modern-day Deborah,” Hibbs said the soccer mom “heeded the call to run for the school board” and that “when churches get involved and get informed, people vote.”
God, Hibbs said, installed Shaw into her position.
“Get on your knees every night,” Shaw told the crowd. “All day I talk to him. People probably think I’m crazy, but I’m really just talking to God all day.” After reciting a Bible verse, she added, “I have looked demons straight in the eye and with God’s authority rebuked them back to hell where they belong.”
“You can do that too, trust me.”
Residents have long raised alarms about the school board’s religious bent. And Pastor Hibbs and members of his megachurch congregation appear to be more involved than ever in Chino’s public schools.
Last week, in an interview with right-wing provocateur Charlie Kirk, Hibbs said that he brought the policy language to the school board after Republican state Assemblyman Bill Essayli’s “parental notification” legislation died without a hearing.
“He came back thinking he was defeated,” Hibbs said. “What we did is that we read his bill and we took the verbiage from that bill and then introduced it to our unified school district school board and they voted and adopted the verbiage.”
“Guess what happened?” Hibbs continued. “We found out something, Charlie, that the most powerful politics is local…”
Hibbs then turned to Bonta’s lawsuit against the board, saying, “We’re going to take that on, we’re going to make sure that this goes to the U.S. Supreme Court.”
The pastor, who hasn’t returned messages left by The Daily Beast, wasn’t shy about his fight on the school board’s behalf.
Before he signed off, Hibbs told Kirk that children are “groomed” into trans ideology in the classroom and that schools want to “castrate your children” and “mutilate them.”
Ahead of the parental notification vote in July, Hibbs also urged people to flock to the fiery board meeting. “We’re asking people to show up by the thousands,” he said in a video announcement on the church’s Facebook page. “Please make it a priority.”
Meanwhile, Calvary Chapel has boasted on social media of collecting tens of thousands of ballots for state and local candidates endorsed by Hibbs. The church’s ballot collection, a practice it’s engaged in for years, is conducted with help from Hibbs’ political organization Real Impact.
A teacher in another district—who alleges she was fired for refusing to follow her school’s gender identity protocols—heeded Hibbs’ call. “I could no longer be both a Christian and a public school teacher,” she said at the board meeting. “Then I remembered what Pastor Jack Hibbs taught me, that the word of God says… that being a coward is a sin.”
Still, Shaw claims that neither she nor the school board follow Hibbs’ orders. “Absolutely not. No one has a direct line to Pastor Jack Hibbs. Pastor Jack has never said, ‘Hey, guys, I want you to bring this policy forward.’ Never ever did he do any of that,” she told The Daily Beast. She added, however, that she couldn’t speak on Hibbs’ involvement with the board of education prior to her election.
The mother of two daughters—a freshman and junior in high school—Shaw was a Bible study leader at another church before joining Hibbs’ Calvary Chapel Chino Hills about two years ago.
Last September, Shaw told the San Bernardino Sun that she wasn’t running for election on the behalf of the 10,000-member Calvary Chapel. “They keep calling me ‘the church’s choice.’ I’ve never met Pastor Jack (Hibbs). I’ve never been brought up on stage,” she said.
One month later, however, Hibbs introduced her at the pulpit, telling his Sunday service that “she’s truly going up against the machine” before leading a prayer for her victory. Shaw bowed her head as Hibbs lifted a hand in the air and declared, “She has decided, Lord, to take on the woke-ism that is attacking our children.”
Hibbs has emboldened supporters to fight progressive education bills and prop up Christian candidates. In his sermons, he has tearfully prayed on stage for Donald Trump to win the 2020 election, said COVID-19 vaccines would lead people into accepting “the mark of the beast,” and called “transgenderism” a “sexually perverted cult” and “an anti-God, anti-Christ plan of none other than Satan himself.”
On education, he’s claimed that he and his acolytes are “trying to rescue kids from a system that is sexualizing them,” that kids “come out of school questioning their gender but they don’t even know how to do simple math” and “are being raped by the public school system.”
Hibbs has also taken aim at California’s abortion protections, describing them as “Infanticidal Death Policies,” in a document circulated to his congregation in October 2022, just before Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom’s re-election.
“If God does not intervene in this upcoming election through His people, which has always been his MO, and, if Newsom has his way, then this will certainly be proof that judgment has begun in California if not the United States,” the document reads. It ends by encouraging followers to return their ballots to the church.
“We should be able to stand against the school board,” Hibbs said in May. “We should be able to stand against some teacher that is molesting your child—if not physically, in their minds.”
In July, Hibbs delivered a skewed history lesson claiming that some founding fathers “inherited” slaves but actually cared for them. “Before you call them rich white guys who were slave owners,” Hibbs preached, “you need to finish the sentence: They were rich white guys who were slave owners who clothed, fed, and in many cases took very good care of their slaves while at the same time juggling two worlds…”
The megachurch has also tried to meddle in Chino Valley public school classes and teachings. Calvary Chapel members once funded textbooks for an elective course in two public high schools on the Bible as history and literature and tried to alter rules for sex education curriculum.
The church also runs a Christian “Released Time” program, where public school students can duck out of class for weekly one-hour Bible lessons held in buses outfitted with tables and chairs. This program had a table at the district’s back-to-school night, and a volunteer in a Calvary Chapel Chino Hills T-shirt handed out candy and Bible coloring books.
“This is a national movement and it’s intentional,” former school board president Christina Gagnier told The Daily Beast. “I think Chino Valley is a cautionary tale.”
District parent Glory Ciccarelli condemned Hibbs’ words on slavery at the August board meeting, urging Black parents to leave his church and “wake up and realize that what our ancestors went through is slowly getting phased out of the curriculum to the point where our kids will eventually be taught that literal slaveholders were nice guys…”
Ciccarelli told The Daily Beast that her biggest issue with Chino Valley leadership is “the apathy they have for the Black kids in the district,” and that the board needs professional development training relating to race and culture and diversity in hiring.
But she believes that Hibbs’ influence over certain board members could derail any progress in the district. In addition to Shaw, two other school board members—James Na and Andrew Cruz—are also members of Calvary Chapel.
“Cruz and Na are quite literally acolytes of Jack Hibbs at this point,” Ciccarelli said. “In my opinion, everything they say and believe as it relates to the school board is basically something they have heard from him.”
Hibbs, she added, “reminds me of Jim Jones with the way he is so easily able to control so many people at the same time.”
At the July board meeting that attracted far-right extremists like the Proud Boys, some local parents pushed back against the church’s connections to the school board.
“Madam President, board, cabinet, and staff,” quipped one father of a queer child, “I didn’t know I came to church tonight. I thought it was a board meeting.”
So many citizens had signed up to speak, waiting in a line outside in 100-degree weather, that the board cut the public comment period from three minutes to one minute per person.
Lisa Greathouse, a local mom and former school board candidate, defended teachers against claims they were “indoctrinating” and “grooming” kids. “Make no mistake,” Greathouse told the auditorium, “what this board is pushing through now is just the tip of the iceberg. They are taking their cue from their megachurch…”
Outbursts from hecklers interrupted the proceeding, which had a heavy police and security presence. Speakers from out of town and from Calvary Chapel preached about God and the Devil, facing off with parents and students who warned Shaw and her board they would have blood on their hands should the “outing” policy pass.
One moment in particular was so explosive it made headlines: Shaw excoriated Tony Thurmond, California’s state superintendent of schools, who’d asked her to reconsider the policy about notifying parents if their children identified as trans. He said it might run afoul of student privacy laws and jeopardize kids who “may not be in homes where they can be safe.”
Thurmond wasn’t finished with his remarks, but Shaw cut him off for time like she did anyone else. “Tony Thurmond,” she seethed, “I appreciate you being here, tremendously. But here’s the problem: We’re here because of people like you. You’re in Sacramento proposing things that pervert children!”
After Thurmond tried to continue, Shaw yelled into her mic that she wouldn’t let him “blackmail” or “bully” her district. Video of the scene showed Thurmond exchanging words with a group of cops before walking away.
In a statement, Thurmond told The Daily Beast that a group of concerned students contacted him about Shaw’s proposal, and he rearranged his schedule to be there. “Let’s be clear about these policies—a small group of anti-LGBTQ+ politicians like Ms. Shaw believe they have the right to dictate when and how students and their families talk about their sexual orientation or gender identity,” Thurmond said. “They are trying to turn our public school educators—who are already overworked and underpaid—into the gender police.”
“Choosing when to come out and to whom is a deeply personal decision that LGBTQ+ young people have the right to make for themselves.”
youtube
Ashlee Peters, the parent of a child in the district, watched the scene unfold. “As an educator and as a mom, you just sit there and go, ‘I can’t believe this is happening in my community,’” said Peters, who has been a public school teacher for 22 years.
Peters was also in line when far-right activist Bryce Henson, who also goes by Ben Richards, walked around trying to bait people into reacting on camera. “He would come up to you and be like, ‘I just want to talk to you, why can’t we just have a conversation about this?’” It was a sneak preview of the testimony to come.
Inside, people proselytized and spewed hatred, calling LGBTQ people “terrorists” and warning “demons are after our children.” Richards called transgender, Black Lives Matter and Juneteenth flags flying outside his San Diego school district a symbol of “systemic radical leftist indoctrination." One mother ended her speech with, “As Jason Aldean would say, ‘Well, try that in a small town.’”
When it was her turn, Peters warned that the “outing” policy would “create a hostile environment” for LGBTQIA+ students and that the board’s “reckless pursuit of personal agendas” could bring about “expensive lawsuits.”
The atmosphere was so tense that security escorted a person out who put hands on someone else, Peters said. “It seriously feels like I’m in some sort of weird dystopia,” Peters told The Daily Beast. “I don’t know how this happened because it does not feel real.”
Peters believes that what’s unfolding in Chino Valley Unified is a wake-up call to monitor school board elections. “I just didn’t think it was going to happen in my community because I live in California,” she said. “I feel relatively safe living in a blue state—that religion wasn’t going to suddenly take over my public school system, and it has.”
Even though the involvement of Hibbs and his megachuch in local public schools has been center stage in Chino Valley this year, it’s a battle that’s been brewing for at least a decade. Back in 2014, the Freedom from Religion Foundation filed a lawsuit on behalf of parents in Chino Valley over prayers and Bible readings at school board meetings, arguing these practices “constituted an establishment of religion in violation of the First and Fourteenth Amendments.”
The prayers and Bible verses were being led by Calvary Chapel members James Na and Andrew Cruz, who were elected to the school board in 2008 and 2012 respectively.
According to the prayer lawsuit, Na once told spectators of a school board meeting that their “lives begin in the hospital and end in the church, and urged everyone who does not know Jesus Christ to go and find Him.” In 2013, Na sent out a letter to school district “family member[s]” that referred to Hibbs with an excerpt from “Pastor Jack’s Christmas story.”
“The community is going to rise and create a war chest to help you,” Hibbs told the board in 2016 in the midst of the legal battle, though a crowdfunding drive affiliated with the church apparently never delivered. A school board spokesperson previously said that funding was intended to bring the case to the Supreme Court.
A federal judge ultimately ruled in the parents’ favor, and the board lost its Ninth Circuit appeal, leaving the district with $282,000 in legal bills.
This apparently hasn’t stopped Cruz’s Christian commentary. In April, he went on a rant wherein he said that if he were governor, he’d mandate citizens be trained in firearms and that, “I do love one man, I really love this man, and that is Jesus Christ. It’s in my head.”
Since his election, Cruz has especially ignited parents’ ire and weathered calls to resign as a result of his offensive remarks and chemtrail conspiracy theories. In 2015, Cruz said mothers who don’t vaccinate their kids are wrongfully vilified while “illegal aliens” bring infectious disease to America. In 2018, Cruz infamously said that “it wasn’t Hitler that was bad, it was the people that follow the laws and the agenda” while discussing “parents rights.”
That year, Na and Cruz (and Hibbs) proposed that parents have the ability to opt kids out of sex-ed discussions on gender identity, sexual orientation, and discrimination—and for schools to notify parents when a transgender student uses a locker room or shower. Those measures failed.
Na is also not without controversy. Aside from his religious musings at the board, he’s also been accused of trying to recruit at least one student to Calvary Chapel.
At a June board meeting, a statement was read on behalf of Esther Kim, who was the panel’s student representative in the 2021-2022 school year. “In sophomore year, I met Mr. Na through a personal phone call where his school board role and my school were acknowledged,” Kim said. “During an unrelated conversation, he attempted to persuade me to go to his church.”

The house at the edge of the world
Tumblr media
Summary: Y/N is the owner of an Airbnb at the edge of the world, a place in which Wanda would either heal or become what everyone is afraid of.
Pairings: Wanda Maximoff/SW! x Female!Reader
Warnings: Minors DNI! +18, angst, drama, slow burn, friends to lovers, pregnancy, romance, fluff, mentions of depression and self harm, healing, R owns an Airbnb that welcomes many known characters from Marvel, R has powers, Wanda needs healing, and so does R. More warnings as the story progress.
Author's Note: The story follows up the events of Wandavision right before the twins birth. Since I didn't like the fact Natasha died in Endgame, she is alive as well as Tony everything else just happens the same way it does in the movies. We will see some Eternals and mentions of all the new members of the cinematic MCU.
This is a new story I've been working on because I just love Wanda and I love writing. I really hope you guys like this new story. Thank you for reading. English is no my mother tongue so I do apologize for any grammar, spelling or funny mistake.

Chapter 2 - Chapter 3 - Chapter 4 - Chapter 5 - Chapter 6 - Chapter 7 - Chapter 8 -Chapter 9 - Chapter 10 - Chapter 11 - Chapter 12 - Chapter 13 - Chapter 14 - Epilogue
Running
The road spread out before her eyes, the morning sun touched the land with a bright gleaming golden light while the sweet aroma of salt and land engulfed her senses.
The sky above their heads was of a light blue, while the ocean seemed to be the darkest kind, there was not a single sound inside the rented car. Not even the thoughts of her companion could interrupt her contemplation of the country she would reside in for the next year. This was something she had always liked about Natasha, unless she were to force herself on the former spy, it was almost impossible to catch a thought she didn’t want out.
At the moment, Natasha was tyring to keep her guilt and sorry at bay. Wanda could tell there were traces of pity in there, pity for Wanda and what she had created.
They weren’t real, Wanda. I’m sorry but Vision is death and you…you’re not pregnant.
There was an oppression around her chest, her eyes burn with unshed tears at the memories o such words muttered cruelly while she freed Westview. They had been real, they had been so real Wanda could hear Vision still as well as feel her children…two salty drops rolled down her cheeks, she drawn in the memory of her life in Westview, of the nightmare she was made to life at the moment.
They were not real, Wanda, nothing in that godforsaken town was real but…but you enslaving innocent people.
Wanda shifted on the seat clenching her jaw, her eyes gleaming red and green for a moment. The sudden changed in mood didn’t go unnoticed by Natasha, the former spy furrowed her brows grabbing the wheel tightly driving down an empty road. She had been trying to be calm while keeping her thoughts at bay, but sometimes it was almost impossible to hide anything from Wanda.
Sorrow was growing inside her mind, as much as regret. Natasha knew they should had gone to Wanda the moment the battle was over, but everything had been so chaotic that everyone forgot about the young woman that had lost so much in such a short amount of time. What had happened on Westview was something that could have been prevented if they had paid attention, if they had been better to Wanda.
The red light on her phone made her teared her eyes from the road, the phone gleamed a mixture of colours just before IDGAF by Dua Lipa sound around the car. Wanda forgot about her pain and her plans as soon as she heard the song coming from the phone, she turned slowly to a flustered Natasha that was glaring daggers at the road.
Wanda lifted a single eyebrow, her lips twitching up while seeking an explanation from the other woman. Natasha cleared her throat turning sharp, deep green eyes to Wanda daring her to say something.
“I told Yelena to not mess with the phone, she never listens though.” It was a poor explanation, even if that was the truth, Wanda snorted turning her attention back to the road.
"Yeah, right." She drawled with amusement, and for a brief moment the tension round them broke leaving space to the friendship they had shared before the Sokovian Accords, before Thanos, before Westview.
Natasha rolled her eyes smiling, her finger tapped on the screen to accept the call. It wasn’t that difficult for either woman to know Yelena knew what song had played when she called and that she was enjoying that greatly. Her accent was marked but traces of laughter.
"I hope you are having a good time, Natasha.” There was a snort mixed up with laughter as Yelena continued, “are you there yet?”
“I’m a couple of minutes away from the tunnel, why? Missing me already?” Natasha dared to look out of the corner of her eyes at Wanda, the young woman had a frown attached to her features hearing the conversation with some nostalgia.
“You’re too slow.” Yelena complained and while Wanda had no idea why the other woman was so interested in Natasha to get to their destination, Natasha knew the real reason of her sister’s impatience.
“Why the interest, Lena?” Natasha teased hearing the intake of breath coming from her sister.
"Don't call me that." Yelena grumbled; Natasha smirked at the obvious embarrassment she could sense in her voice.
"You don't have a problem with Y/N calling you that." There it was her revenge for Yelena messing up with her ringtone.
"Shut up." Yelena said through gritted teeth, Natasha could only laugh shaking her head.
"Are you embarrassed, Lena?" Natasha pressed even further; Wanda felt a tug on her heart at the sisterly banter.
"Fuck you." Yelena exclaimed grumbling around before speaking again, "I was just calling because I wanted you to tell her she owes me one of her finest wines, and I will take two for the emotional damage.”
Natasha was sure there must be a pout around those words, though this time around she said nothing. She knew how much Yelena wanted to come and see Y/N, but her duties prevented her to make the trip all the way to Italy.
“I will tell her that.” Natasha finally revealed, all this time noticing just how tensed Wanda was, she was pretty attentive of their conversation waiting, perhaps, to her a mention of herself, to gather some news form the States.
“Cool, then…Tell her, tell the witch I miss her.” That was as far as Yelena would go, Natasha smiled shaking her head.
“I will, Yelena. Take care and talk to you soon.”
“You too, take care.” Yelena finally said before hanging up.
The mention of the word witch had alerted Wanda, and her concern soon turned into confusion when Yelena just sent a heartfelt greeting. They had met briefly when SWORD and the DODC had come in to try and get a sense of control of the situation, Wanda locked eyes with Natasha through the rear-view mirror.
“You have quite the sister, pretty weird.” Wanda commented softly, Natasha broke into an easy smile finding comfort in her relationship with Yelena and the fact Wanda seemed willing to talk again.
“She is special.” Natasha chuckled when all she heard from Wanda was hum of agreement she continued. “We have been trying to make up for the lost time, it has been hard.”
Wanda smiled sadly, "you shouldn't have come then. You should be with your family."
It hadn’t been her intention, Natasha wanted to make some light conversation but she should know this kind of topics were still highly sensitive to the woman sitting at her right. And just like the atmosphere had changed a moment ago, it went back to the strange tension they had been feeling since the beginning of the trip.
“You are my family, Wanda.” Natasha finally said after a moment of silence, “you, Yelena, Clint, Tony…all of you. I know I haven’t done the best of jobs as of late, but I’m trying to make up for that waste time.”
There was nothing else to say, Wanda knew Natasha felt guilty. Everyone did. Clint and Natasha had been the first ones to try and make up for leaving her alone in her grief, then came Tony and Fury alongside Captain and Monica had tried to reach out to her with support and protection.
It was late, though.
It was always too late, and now Wanda was trapped in a nightmare wanting nothing else that to go back to her reality.
“I really want to be here for you.” Natasha finally said, her eyes flickered to the side only to see Wanda facing outside the window.
The young woman furrowed her brows, “you’re here because you need to make sure I don’t disappear again.”
Natasha slammed on the breaks turning sharply to Wanda, the other woman jerked startled by the action and soon she found facing the former spy with some confusion.
“I am here, Wanda, because I want to be. We failed you, and I wish there was more I could do…” Natasha saw as Wanda’s expression changed into one of cold anger, one anger she was already familiar with.
“Then, why took me away from them?” Wanda spat out; Natasha leaned back against the chair.
“It wasn’t real, Wanda.” She whispered knowing every time they reminded Wanda of this something inside the redhead broke deeply. “I couldn’t leave you there living a fantasy when there is still a world out there for you to live in.”
Wanda clenched her jaw, sparks of red flashing on her eyes before she settled back on the chair. The young woman turned to look out of the window, no one understood. Everyone thought they were doing Wanda a favour but, in reality, they were just stalling the inevitable.
“I know there are troubles back home, but we brought you here because you need to have a moment for you.” Natasha continued convincing Wanda and herself of the decision the team had come out with “This is a nice place, and perhaps, this is what you need.”
It was highly doubtful this forced vacation was something she needed.
The memory of screaming voices filled her mind, the broken tones of those living in Westview against their will overwhelmed her mind and heart, the guiltiness building up all over again until she was reminded of the fear and hatred in their eyes.
Monster.
She needs to be controlled!
Get her away from me!
Please, let me go, I have family!
Her hands clenched tightly almost digging on the skin of her palm, the wrongness of what had happened in her life catching up to her. The overwhelming guilt and horror at what she had done was soothed over by the images of what she had lived in Westview, the images that at nights were more real…almost there, ready for the taken.
You had the power to do it…The Scarlet Witch.
Agatha had called her that.
Wanda didn’t understand all that well what the other woman meant by it, but she hoped the book she found in her basement would give her the right answers. Already the book was showing her a path she didn’t knew she could walk in, the possibilities of getting what she wanted, what she needed it…what she really deserved.
It would take time, but the emptiness in her soul, the hole she felt in her heart and her own existence would soon be filled. She just needed to be patient. With a single tear rolling down her cheek, Wanda admired the blue of the sky mixing up with the ocean.
The road stretched out before her, her future uncertain, and as she repeated these words inside her head and more tears rolled down her cheeks Wanda couldn’t help but feel as the hope slipped away from her hands.
Her life was a complete chaos.
Without a single ounce of hope but a rest at the edge of the world.
______________________________________________________________
The town of Vernazza was literally at the edge of the world.
Even before the Blip, the town had been of difficult access standing right at the edge of the Cinq Terre in the Italian Riviera. It was at the very end up a well-structured geographical location with mountains and hills and the ocean spreading right in front of it. It had been a touristic attraction once, now it was the last fishing village closed up to the world with only a few inhabitants here and there and a single place that received outsiders that went looking for peace.
The trip had been Clint’s idea. Natasha had loved it, Tony and Steve had agreed, and Yelena had been slightly annoyed as much as Wanda seemed to be reluctant of such an unexpected holiday.
Natasha still remembered her first encounter with Y/N.
It had been a coincidence, their paths crossed after a mission backfired and Natasha had to look for a place to hide. Y/N had extended her hand, no questions asked; it had been refreshing, and different and soon Natasha found herself coming back over and over again to the place where she was not a spy, a Widow, and Avenger. She was just Natasha, and Y/N was the only friend, beside Clint, that got a glimpse of Natasha the woman, the friend, the huma being.
When Thanos happened and half the population was wiped out, Natasha found a refugee in Vernazza whenever the weight of the world was too much to her.  With her past still haunting her from time to time, Natasha thought perhaps Wanda could find peace in here; the former spy really hoped so because the alternative was not a kind one, and it was something Wanda didn’t deserve.
The road changed all of a sudden, and soon the changes brought by time and abandonment were evident by the state of the road. The nature was already claiming this part of the world, Wanda fixed her position on the seat her eyes dancing around before settling themselves on Natasha who parked the car near the mountain’s slope.
“There used to be a direct road to take us to the city, but it disappeared, obviously.” Natasha offered a terse smile, “I have to move some branches and stuff, over there is a tunnel that would take us directly into the main road and the village.”
“You guys weren’t lying when you said this was in the middle of fucking nowhere.”
Sometimes Natasha forgot how young Wanda really was, the former spy chuckled shrugging.
“Why would we lie about this? This is the place you go to whenever you want to get away from the world.”
Without waiting for an answer, Natasha exited the car taking a deep breath and enjoying the different scents brought by the nature. She stretched out making her way to where she new the entrance was located it.
For a couple of minutes Wanda observed as Natasha worked around some branches and rocks without so much of an effort, she knew everyone had made a great effort to give her this trip, this moment. Letting out a heavy sigh, Wanda got out of the car walking towards Natasha.
“Tell me what needs to be moved, we don’t have all day.” Wanda said crossing her arms trying to act uninterested about the whole situation, Natasha raised an eyebrow and stepped back pointing with her hands the rest of the road.
The red mist that was part of Wanda’s powers spread out with expertise from her hands, her eyes went red as the stuff blocking the road was removed until Wanda could see the entrance of a tunnel. Natasha narrowed her eyes; she noticed the black ink on the fingertips and the trembling coming from Wanda.
“I think that’s enough,” Natasha placed a hand on Wanda’s forearm. “It is big enough for the car to fit in, come on.”
Wanda let go of her magic, her breathing coming in uneven gasps. The redhead lowered her gaze to see her fingers going back to the normal skin colour, the screams of unknown children reaching out to her.
“Is it too far?” Wanda asked once they were back on the car.
“No, just a couple of more minutes and you will be in the best Airbnb in the world.” Natasha exclaimed offering a tiny smile, Wanda nodded returning to her sightseeing.
The ride through the tunnel didn’t last more than ten minutes, and by the time they exited the tunnel Wanda’s breath caught in her throat at the sight.
The first thing she saw was the deep blue of the ocean right in front of her, the sun glistening gold under the land and the waves bringing out the most vivid colours she had ever seen. The sight of white and light earthly colours coming from the village contrasted with the geography of the terrain and soon Wanda understood why Clint and Natasha seemed enamoured with this place.
It was like magic.
As soon as the crossed the tunnel there was just an aura of peace overwhelming her. She admired the sight from the security of the car, ignoring the fluttering of her heart, Natasha held back her smile watching as Wanda changed her posture and relaxed into the seat.
“This is beautiful.” Wanda mumbled before she could stop herself, Natasha hummed in agreement turning sharply to the right getting away from the main road. “How did you find out about this place?”
“A mission gone wrong,” Natasha explained curtly, “I messed up, and I needed a place to hide. I came upon a young woman, she just offered her place, no questions asked even though I was a mess at that point.”
The way Natasha spoke about the host told Wanda this was something different, there was a warm so uncharacteristic of the Black Widow that Wanda found herself surprised at this.
“You have been before then?” Wanda inquired eyeing the oncoming sight of two different houses build comfortable amongst the forest.
It was magnificent with earthy colours, and a small fountain by the main gate, the place was surrounded by olives and a couple of flowers Wanda did not recognize. Their car stopped right at the entrance; Natasha hesitated for a moment before turning to Wanda.
“Yes, as I said, this place was home when I needed it to be.” Natasha explained finally making sure Wanda could not look away from her. “I know things have not been easy, and that a lot of things had happened and you haven’t had a rest but…”
“…This is important for me; I need it and probably is what I need to start healing.” Wanda repeated with a robotic tone, she had heard the same arguments over and over again, it was getting tiring by this point.
Natasha pressed her lips together; Wanda rubbed her temple before speaking again.
“I know I messed up, Natasha.” Wanda whispered. “I know that this is as much for me as it is for everything to settle down back home. You don’t need to repeat the same empty words as everyone else.”
Natasha sighed shaking her head, Wanda said nothing else and she hoped Natasha wasn’t about to mention Vision, or Westview or anything at all because she didn’t think she could take it. Wanda was not ready to face the powers that she held within, or the hunger she felt to dig deeper into that magic. Wanda didn’t want to talk about her pain, about her loses…. about the futility that was to continue fighting for nothing.
“Y/N it’s a nice person.” Natasha said all of sudden, finally giving Wanda what she wanted it. “She is a good friend of mine, the only person aside from the team that I actually call my friend.”
This time around Natasha had Wanda undivided attention.
“If you need anything, and I mean, anything, she can help.” Natasha continued. “She is very discreet, and she is nice to be around.”
“How long have you known her?” The question rolled out of Wanda’s mouth accompanied by a frown.
Once again, she was left shocked at how little she really knew her friend, her team, her family. And yet, she couldn’t help but felt happy, honoured even having Natasha extended this piece of thrust in her.
“As I said, we found it when we most needed it.” Natasha broke into an easy smile when a figure appeared right at the door. “She is really something else, special even. Come, let me introduce you.”
______________________________________________________________
Morning broke on the horizon by the time you were starting your early routine.
The muscles on your back hurt a little from all the work you had done the day before, getting the house adjacent to yours ready for your new guest had not been an easy task. After speaking with both, Natasha and Clint, you knew this new guest was not only a superhero but someone that was in a serious needed for a moment of peace and tranquillity.
The black coffee on your hand smelled heavenly, you smiled to yourself watching the ocean to the couple of fisher boats in the distance. It had been so nice to speak with Clint and his family, and to speak with Natasha and Yelena you had forgotten how much you liked them after having been in your piece of heaven ignorant of the battles being fought out there.
The call from Natasha had been a completed surprised, and her request had almost made you squirmed uncomfortably by the very nature of what she was asking.
A year.
She asked to rent your second house for over a year. It didn’t matter the cost, she had the money, Stark Industries would pay in full alongside a bonus for the inconvenience. It wasn’t about the money, Natasha knew that, but you didn’t say no and the money alongside your new guest was surely to come and make you richer and perhaps get to know a new person along the way.
The request had been strange, but you had learned a long time ago to not question your friends and trusted in them. Besides, having Clint on the phone along with the kids all of them begging you to say yes was more than enough to have you laughing and accepting in a single heartbeat. You had missed them, all of them.
Things had not been the same after the Blip.
Everyone had been affected one way or another.
You took another sip from your coffee, your phone on your hand flickering the different options until you found the message you were looking for. Natasha had just gotten there and would be home by midday, you pursed your lips as soon as your eyes fell upon the lonely figure of one Wanda Maximoff. An Avenger.
Your eyes outline her features, those green eyes and the red hair contrasting beautifully against her skin and the sharp features of her face.
She looked sad. Defeated it.
The rumours about her seemed to be partially true, and Natasha had made sure you knew the whole story before you were to accept. Even as you observed the picture with care, you could tell behind that miserable stare was a dangerous individual, holding a power she barely got to control with so much loses and pain along the way you were surprised she hadn’t given in to darkness.
You furrowed your brows when you realized you had been watching at the picture more than what should be normal. Your phone closed with a snap and you tried to return your attention to the ocean.
Yes, Wanda Maximoff was beautiful, you wouldn’t deny that fact. But she was to be a guest, and you were doing this as a favour. And the money. The young woman was coming over because she was looking for peace, and perhaps a friend. That you could give.
The alarm on your watch rang three times, you finished your coffee stretching out all over again before setting up to work. You still needed to fix a couple of things before Natasha and the new guest were to come over, and you didn’t have the time to ramble about nonsense.
By the time midday arrived and you saw the car approaching the main gate, everything was ready. Including lunch.
For some reason, your felt anxious with your eyes seeking the form of the young woman beside Natasha. Then, an easy smile formed on your lips and you were making your way to Natasha who was coming at you with a smile of her own.
“Damn, Romanoff, whenever I get to see you you’re even more beautiful than before,” you teased flirtatiously, winking at the woman while grabbing her hand in yours kissing her knuckles. “When are you going to accept my proposal and come and live with me? You can live the American dream in the Italian Riviera, with the house, the hot wife and a life of luxury.”
Natasha seemed unfazed by this, though she broke into an easy laughter hugging you tightly.
“How about when hell freezes over, and Yelena doesn’t threaten to skin me alive for even daring to contemplate such an idea with you?” The woman replied making you laugh shaking your head.
“Lean is really a cutie when she wants to be,” you replied dryly, “making all my prospect wives running away from me.”
Natasha rolled her eyes at you, before taking a closer look at your appearance.
“Looking good, Y/N, what is it?” She asked already knowing the answer, you wink at her, your eyes drifting to the lone figure of Wanda that had been standing by the car watching intently at the interaction with her arms crossed and a confused frown upon her features.
“Haircut, Nat, I change my hair a little.” Then your face relaxed and for the very first time there was a soft, sincere smile on your lips. “It’s really good to finally see you, Tasha. How’s everything?”
Wanda was observing the whole scene from afar, she was really not fancying seeing someone drool all over Natasha as she had seen men and women do in the past. But soon, Wanda realized the light flirting was nothing more than a friendly banter than was more like a routine greeting between them than nothing else.
It was strange, and soon Wanda found herself admiring the young woman standing right beside Natasha. She was different, that was the only word Wanda could think of when trying to describe Y/N, with a nice hair colour that contrasted with the skin that had been kissed by the sun several times with eyes that gleamed with a light of their own and a set of white and gold tattoos adorning her arms. Certainly, Wanda had been pleasantly surprised by this development, perhaps this trip was not such a bad idea?
Wanda pursed her lips looking away with a blush adorning her cheeks, when for the second time your eyes found hers and this time around Wanda had been caught checking you out. With a curved on your lips, you finally decided you could not ignore the other woman far longer and decided to walk towards her with Natasha closed by.
“I have lunch ready for you guys, if you’re not opposed to the idea of course.” You commented lightly never once leaving those green eyes of Wanda. “I believe it’s time for us to meet formally, I’m Y/N Y/L/N.”
Your hand stretched out, after a couple of seconds Wanda finally grasped her hand around yours. A strange chill went right through your back, you tilted your head watching as those cheeks dust with a light pink and her eyes gleamed strangely at you.
“I’m Wanda.” It was all she could say the traces of her old sokovian accent sneaking inside her words. She chided herself, for such a slip that hadn’t happened in a long, long time.
You nodded and this time around you allowed an easy smile on your lips, “nice to finally meet you, Wanda. Then, what do you say? Lunch and a light conversation, I could show you guys around…”
Wanda offered a strained smile, her eyebrows coming up together when she realized you two were still holding hands. She let go rather fast, as if the mere touch had burned her, stepping back her eyes went to the second house before they went to Natasha and finally settled on yours.
“Thank you for the offer, but I’m actually not hungry.” This time around her words came out cold, almost tired. “Natasha was kind enough to show me the pictures of the place, so I think I know my way around unless there is something you didn’t post on your profile?”
Natasha opened her eyes ready to intervene but you beat her to it. You never lose your smile thought your eyes did harden a little.
“No, everything is the same.” Then you put a set of keys from your pocket, grabbing a single blue one. “Here is your key, enjoy.”
Wanda hesitated for a moment, her hand stretching out to grab the keys and with a last glance to you she left to put her things out of the car. Natasha was about to go to her but the woman turned to you with an apologetic glance.
“I’m sorry about that, Wanda…well, she is…” Natasha didn’t know how to explain the situation, you just waved your hand away turning to back to the other woman.
“Don’t worry, I get it.” Then as an afterthought you smile at Natasha, grabbing her hand in yours. “But you my dear, Romanoff are not getting away from lunch, come let her …let her be for a while.”
The table had been set, you moved swiftly around your kitchen with Natasha telling you everything that had happened since the last time you two saw each other. You had always found it amazing how this woman that called herself the best spy of all times trusted you with such important pieces of information not everyone had access to. The life inside the Avengers was something not many would envy if they knew the price Earth’s Mightiest heroes had to pay for peace.
Food was almost over, and you were serving the fifth cup of wine while furrowing your brows at the story about Vision and Wanda.
“It was hard on her.” Natasha finished playing with the salad for a moment, “I guess we just forgot about it, we all have our own problems and just…didn’t think about her, or how hurt she must have been.”
“Hn, you can’t blame yourself for that, Nat.” You tilted your head pursing your lips. “In all honestly, life has not been easy for anyone after the Blip and the second Blip.”
You took another bite of your plate, your hand playing with the glass of wine before you emptied its contents.
“I understand your need to make things right, which is good, but definitely don’t blame yourself. It was something you couldn’t help.” You shrugged with something bothering you intently about the situation, you remembered the cold coming from Wanda’s hand, the dullness behind her green eyes.
You had sensed it.
Natasha lifted a single eyebrow at you, her lips curling in a knowing smile. There was another reason why the both of you trusted one another, and that was the fact Natasha had never said anything to anyone about your powers.
“What?” You asked but even as you did you knew why she was looking at you like this.
Natasha finished her food putting the plate away, she settled her eyes on you straightening herself up.
“What do you really think about her?” She finally asked, you seemed taken aback at the bluntness behind her question. You knew she was asking more than she leaned on.
"Can I serve the dessert first?” The glare sent by Natasha told you this conversation could not wait. You sighed, taking a long sip from your wine.
“She is powerful.” That was your first impression of her, pictures didn’t tell you more than how beautiful she was. Touching her and actually having her in front of you let you sense the power behind her.
“She really is powerful, though I think she still needs training in the control of her magic.” You pursed your lips playing with the idea forming in your mind. “There was something I could detect in her…dark magic.”
At this Natasha straightened up with a frown on her face, you narrowed your eyes but Natasha waved her hand.
“Is it too bad? I mean, I told you about this Agatha and how she tied her to the town…” Natasha commented with a hint of concern in her voice.
“Well, it is not much but…it is not common. Dark magic can be addictive and she has been dwelling in it, well…” You shrugged not ready to get drag into this mess; you were just giving Natasha your impressions of Wanda nothing else. “You told me this woman called her the Scarlet Witch?”
You knew your voice sound doubtful, as if you were tasting the word seeking out recognition in it. Something was telling you, you should know the meaning of that name, but at the moment it scaped you completely.
"She is powerful, traces of dark magic in her… it's chaotic." You shrugged. "You told me the woman called her the Scarlet Witch?"
Natasha nodded but there was not a single flicker of recognition in your face. The former spy pursed her lips, you continued eating in silence until the plates were empty and you were to get dessert.
“Yes, and you should have seen her, she was…I don’t know,” Natasha snorted taking another sip from her wine. “All of these magical and out of this world things are just new to me.”
“And yet, you look quite concern, Tasha.” You mused over this squinting your eyes at her. “Should I be worried??
You placed the Crème Brulé right in front of Natasha though the scowl on your face was still quite present. The former spy shook her head shrugging.
“I’m worried about her, this incident in Westview…her denial regarding that life being a fantasy, I just think she really needs a space to come to terms with…everything.”
You weren’t sure this was what Wanda needed it, but of course you couldn’t know much about the life of a superhero or the hardships of such a life. For all you knew, perhaps getting away from everything was what she needed it, you knew it saved you at some point. Perhaps, it was the same for her.
“I just think she needs to get away from the public eye and the life of a hero.” Natasha said mirroring your thoughts, you were about to mention this when the woman made a noise of pure pleasure at the first bite of her dessert.
“God, I love your cooking.” Natasha said in between bites, you chuckled watching as the woman eat another big spoonful of the crème. “Are you sure you don’t want to come back with me to New York?”
You made a face shaking your head, “Never! The time for me to accept such a proposal has already pass, Tasha. This is home, but I can always facetime with you and tell you how to do it.”
Natasha had always wondered why you were so averse to the idea of going outside. She knew many stories about you, but the answer to that particular question had always been the same, a bad experience, a search for happiness and peace. And yet, she thought there was more to the story. She never pressed though and waited simply for you to either make the trip or just stay where you were.
“I think life has not been kind to Wanda, and it’s not an excuse for her actions, but I think she deserves a rest.” Natasha finally clarifies. “She has always felt too much, she feels so strongly I think she just doesn’t know how to grief, how to…how to really feel.”
You served another glass of wine as Natasha told you the full story, what she had found out and what she had concluded after being with Wanda for more than ten years.
"Westview was our breaking point, Damage and Control deemed her dangerous. SWORD wanted to use her…" Natasha snorted. "Not rest for the wicked witch of the east."
The silence filled the kitchen afterwards. You had been playing with the wine, musing over everything you didn't know when you accepted to rent the house. Your eyes flickered to Natasha then to the window leading to your backyard. The sun of the afternoon bathing the land with soft hues of yellow and orange.
Natasha waited for a moment, she could tell there was something bothering you and the woman could guess what it was.
"She won't be a problem, Y/N."
“When I first got here, I was lost.” You started with a nostalgic tinge on your voice, your eyes flickered to meet those of Natasha that had heard the story before. At least, part of it. “I found something I was looking for, and that was peace. I made it my duty to make sure others could do the same. Enhanced individuals, villains, heroes, normal people, it didn’t matter.”
You offered a half smile to Natasha who could only nod at your words.
“But there was something I also promised myself and that was to not put these people in danger, and to never get involved.” This time around your eyes gleamed gold, and the air around Natasha felt heavier than before. “I know what it is like to run from your mistakes, to try and search for peace and happiness. And because of this, I am ready to extend my home and help."
For the former spy the tension was quite evident, though she knew this came out of your overzealous nature in regard to what you considered your safe place. It was something no one dare to disturb.
"But you also know how much I love my solitude and tranquillity."
"I know." Natasha replied seriously.
"For what you told me about the situation with Wanda and the others, I can tell there are still some serious issues that need sorting out.” You continued and your tone sent a chill down Natasha's spine. This was the very first time you spoke to her in such a way. "As long as her arrival doesn’t disturb my past or my present, you have my word that I will watch over here and make sure she is taken care of. But don’t mistake yourself, I won’t move a finger to intervene or protect her from any external threats…If I didn’t interfere before, I won’t do so now.”
You spoke with a finality Natasha had never heard before, and it was because of this and the sudden change around her that the former spy knew you were talking seriously about the situation. Natasha heard the story a couple of times before, and she knew your reasons were strong enough to create such a defence mechanism around you. Natasha respected that, and that was the reason she thought Wanda would be okay in this place.
“I know, Y/N, and that’s why I think this will be good for her.” Natasha let out a heavy sigh, she leaned back against the chair and for the first time you could see the tiredness of the last couple of weeks catching up to her. “You’re right, there were some unfinished businesses and some of them are looking for her. Nobody aside from the Team knows she is here.”
You frowned at this revelation, though you could guess this was the case after hearing the complete story. Natasha placed a hand on top of yours, her features softened slightly squeezing your hand reassuringly.
“No one, and I mean no one would find her here, I promise you this.” Natasha reassured you, you tilted your heads nodding curtly. “Whatever magic you have worked in this place, Y/N, it works. I can tell you that this place has bring some healing to me and Clint and even Yelena. I would never do anything to put you or this place in danger.”
Your features softened and the gold on your eyes left the same way it had come; you returned the squeezed on the hand holding yours.
“I didn’t work any magic,” you finally mumbled shrugging. “It’s this place, you know? It’s people and…I don’t know, I guess the beautiful sightings.”
Natasha offered a smile at you resting her cheek on her hand, “you may be right about that, I have always loved this place because of how calm it is. How beautiful it is.”
You relaxed into the conversation, your face softening slightly before your kind decided to bring back the haunted eyes of Wanda. How wrong she felt, with so much anger and sadness surrounding her…the darkness surrounding her eyes, her fingertips.
“I will keep an eye on her, and I will tell you how everything goes if necessary.” You finally stated.
“I know you will, thank you.” Natasha sighed in relief; she knew she could leave Italy knowing Wanda would be fine until she could come to her from time to time.
The tension brough on by the conversation soon broke when Natasha tilted her head with that small smile she used whenever she was about to talk about her family.
“By the way, I should tell you that Yelena says hi.” At the mention of the young Widow your face broke into a huge grin that Natasha soon was imitating. “She also made it pretty clear that you owe her two bottles of wine of your finest wine.”
"Of course, I owed her two bottles of wine, what was her excuse this time?" You asked chuckling, Natasha smirked tilting her head.
"Emotional damage."
Your laughter filled the room, and soon you found yourself reminiscing the times you had shared with Natasha and Yelena. After the final closing of the Red Room, you had extended your help with the rescue Widows that needed a place to crash for a couple of days, in all that time you got to know Yelena and forged a friendship with the blond-hired woman. You didn’t ignore the obvious crush she developed for you, but you never encourage nothing more than a friendly, sisterly even, banter.
You really had missed this part of your life. Natasha had always been a good friend, interesting and a great source of news and stories that kept you post with the real happening of the world outside. It was something you had always felt curious about but didn’t dare to find on your own.
By the time night had arrived, Natasha had refused your invitation to stay getting ready to say good-bye and go back to her busy life.
"They are coming from me, though I will be picked up on the highway in the middle of nowhere.”
"You will abandon the car?" You asked leaning against the threshold.
Natasha scrunched up her nose shooting you what could only be described as an attempt at a puppy dog stare.
"I was hoping you could drop me there and then take the car."
"I just told you I don't want to leave my house and you go around asking that?" But you were smiling at her, your eyes twinkling with amusement. "Go say goodbye and I wait for you."
************************************************************************
It had become a habit of hers to just sat there watching into nothing with a myriad of thoughts crossing her mind.
She had chosen the room facing the ocean, at some point she thought this could be a good spot to try and reach some semblance of happiness but the memories, and the grief inside her heart made it impossible for her to focus on anything.
By the time she realized she had done nothing, it was late a couple of tears falling down her cheeks and the sound of footsteps breaking the silence in the house. Wanda wiped out the tears on her face, standing up on shaking legs she approached the door of her room just in time to see Natasha standing at the end of the hall.
"You're leaving." Wanda wrapped her arms around herself shivering under the coldness brought by her own sadness. Her statement was followed by a single scowl, Natasha nodded curtly glancing around the place before settling her eyes on Wanda.
"Yes, I am." The place was homey, comfortable though it didn’t look as if Wanda had toured around the place since they arrived. Her stuff was still sprawl around the living room.
"I will stop by Clint's before going away on a mission." Natasha commented lightly. "There is food in the kitchen."
"You didn't have to." Wanda didn't dare to look at Natasha, she didn't want to find pity or understanding.
"We are family, Wanda. Even if sometimes we forget about it." Natasha then offered an honest smile. "You know where to find me, behave and I'll come as soon as I can."
Natasha waited for a moment but Wanda remained silent, with a sigh she turned around ready to leave when Wanda called out to her.
"Bring Clint and his family next time," Wanda tried to smile but it came like a grimace. "Thank you, Natasha. For everything.”
There was something in the way Wanda said her thank you, in the way she was speaking and gesturing at the moment that told Natasha there was something off about it. About Wanda. Natasha wished there was something else she could do, that she could offer a better way to reassure Wanda, to help her heal…
Natasha dropped her shoulders down; she knew there was nothing she could do unless Wanda was ready for it. Nd it was still too early, the memories and the pain were still there and Wanda needed to take this first step alone, it must be her decision…her healing was a path she would need to start alone.
“I’ll be here whenever you need it, Wanda.” Natasha whispered. “Please, take care of yourself and…call me. Doesn’t matter the time.”
Wanda didn’t answer, and Natasha didn’t wait for the answer.
Darkness had already fallen, the lights of the house to the left were enough to let her see the form of Natasha and Y/N getting ready to leave.
Wanda stood by the darkened window of the living room, her eyes following the form of the silver car driving away from the same road she had come to. Soon, she was left alone and in complete darkness.
Her mind went back to replay those moments of happiness she had lived for a short period of time. Her shared life with Vision, her wedding, their home and works, and the news about their growing family; all the reality that had crumbled after Agatha and SWORD had interfered. Her life had been stolen in the cruellest of ways leaving her empty and completely and utterly alone, no one really understood what she was feeling. What she was experiencing.
The night covered the land, her hand placed itself on her abdomen. Tears rolled down her cheeks, the memory of childish laughter, of babbling and brotherly banter. She had seen them. Her family. Her children.
“I’m pregnant!” Wanda said in disbelief, her lips curling in a happy smile as she looked over at Vision. Vision stood dumbfounded for a moment, his mouth opening and closing.
“Y-you’re what?!” He exclaimed while Wanda came to him placing his hand on her abdomen.
“I’m pregnant! We’re going to be parents!”
It never happened.
She never got…
Wanda whimpered putting her arms around herself, kneeling down in front of the window crying for everything she had lost. Right behind her a soft red mist turning into an intense crimson, with a single figure standing there. A projection of herself, the Scarlet Witch and the book she had stolen before leaving Westview.
She would get her life back.
Whatever the cost.

Here is Aliah Khan, an Arrernte-Aboriginal woman from Australia. She went over the the Concordia Flying Squad originally for training, until she felt a certain connection to someone - Diego Del Lobo. Though, sadly, she could not properly be with him, as she was stuck in a loveless marriage. Though, with the time she got with Diego, their relationship grew to be strong. That was - until he killed Charlie. In ways, she understood why he did what he did, there was no choice on his part. But, the fact he killed someone they both were close to left cracks in their dynamic. And it didn’t help she had to return back to Australia. Before she left, Diego told her to look through his stuff, to where she found a necklace and a notebook. Telling her to keep it, Diego wished her better times in Australia, and that he hoped she’d write to him. Aliah treasured that notebook - which was full of love notes to her, from Diego - and the necklace, passing the jewellery down generations to keep it - and really, their love, safe and strong.

Brutus & Apollo are the descendants of Aliah, Angel being an adopted brother in their family. Brutus is the leader of the group, and was a detective for Grimsburough, Pacific Bay and the Bureau before making his own police department in his home country, Australia. His best friend, adopted brother and co-worker, Angel, is a loud, party-filled kinda guy. He loves scene music and just being chaotic. Apollo is similar, a care-free man who loves a good swim and a good game of soccer. And AFL. And any sport you can think of, really. Brutus is practically a polar opposite compared to these two social butterflies, he’s practically a hermit, who sucks at social situations. Though, this is made up by his pure smarts and strength. But that doesn’t stop him from being a blunt, awkward man who swears half of the time he speaks. (Also, Brutus has Aliah’s necklace, he just keeps it hidden underneath his shirt.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cecilia Serafina Marconi is Ginger and Tony’s child, born in 2009, she is a more quiet child. Blunt like her father, she doesn’t really have a lot of friends. But, she does have Astrid, her absolute best friend. Astrid is a year older than her, and was originally living with her grandmother, Margaret Littlewood before the events of Dog eat Dog happened. Instead of a dog show though, it was a beauty pageant for children. (Yes, that absolutely makes the case more devastating. :) ) Astrid ended up getting adopted by David Jones, as her parents were dead long before her actual case. 5 years later, she ended up being the loud, comforting friend for Cecilia. They both are inseparable - to the dismay of Tony and David - and always want the other to be there with them even for the most random situations.  If you all have any questions or want to know more about them, ask away! :D

Thoughts on Sylvie and Brettsey?
Andrea did an interview and it sounds like Jesse will be back for more than one ep.
Thoughts on the maid of honour situation?
Honestly, I have no idea half of what goes on in Andrea's head so I'm not going to comment on that. (She's more chaotic than derek and that's saying something).
Although I will say this - If Jesse is back for more than just the one episode, it better not be because Sylvie is in trouble because I will riot. I am so close to my happy ending and I'm already worried they're going to nuke Sylvie's career. As much as I love and adore having JS on my screen, I'd rather less if it meant that.
But for Brettsey in general:
The best line for me was Sylvie saying she can't believe she's finally marrying Matt Casey, because same, girl, same. And I love that she's trying to find the perfect wedding venue that's them and perfect because she's finally going to marry her soulmate and goddamn it it needs to be perfect. (although poor Violet lmao, really should've kept her mouth shut).
I'm going to miss Sylvie when she goes, and I'm going to miss Sylvie and Mouch as a duo, as well as Sylvie and Violet and Sylvie and Stella (+ Vi) because I adore those dynamics but still I'm glad it's because Brettsey will be married with children!
I do wish we got a little more on Julia, but with the shortened season I can see why we haven't yet and also Sylvie has gone into her planning mode so it makes sense.
I love Violet being Sylvie's maid of honour (although I wouldn't have minded if it was Stella but Violet is the better choice) and I love how she asked her. That Sylvie had totally blanked on actually asking her and just assuming that Violet knows because of course Vi is going to be the MOH.
I also love Violet's face when she realised what being the maid of honour, and planning the party, means and I ADORED Stella's reaction (and Tony's lmao). Also Stella and Violet's interaction gives me hope CF won't just drop their friendship when Sylvie leaves, as that was a slight fear of mine.
Thank you for asking!!! I do so enjoy talking about my babies.

Hello friends, in honor of the 3 year anniversary of these precious souls getting their happily ever after and us as a fandom collectively screaming
Tumblr media
I've decided to share some FS head cannons as a both an ode to my ultimate OTP, and something to slowly ease my way back into Tumblr chaos posts, because and I'm sorry mutuals, I've been in some unhinged pits these past few months as so enamored I forgot to share it with you.
So, with our further ado, Jemma's ultimate Fitzsimmons head cannons! The best 3 for 3 Fitzsimmons endgame celebrated years!
Fitzsimmons now own a castle they bought with Deke's billions, oh right, they also have Deke's billions because fuck you I said so. If you are wondering where this will be, well Perthshire of course, and if you're wondering, is there a castle in Perthshire Scotland? Well yes, yes there are. Many, I've been to three and stayed at a hotel in the fourth, Perthshire is a county of castles, and Fitzsimmons will own one for their children.
That brings me to head cannon two, yes they have more than just our pride and joy the princess of all love and happiness, Alya names-after-the-star-she-was-born-in Fitzsimmons herself. I like to think Fitzsimmons have two more children, a son and a second daughter. The son will be named Lincoln Deke Fitzsimmons (Let's not dwell on naming the grandchild's uncle after the grandchild). And the daughter will be names Sky Melinda Fitzsimmons. Oh and Alya's full name is Alya Daisy Fitzsimmons, yes they name both heir daughters after Daisy, no it's not too much. And also, yes the children will have the last name Fitzsimmons, and every fucking member of the team, will gush over it every time they visit.
Now finally, for the third and most chaotic head cannon. Fitzsimmons are chaotic visiting faculty at the New SHIELD Academy. That's right these darlings teach the bright young future of SHIELD, and they do it Fitzsimmons style with unhinged story time, impromptu visits from Bobbi and Hunter, and of course, their genius children popping from time to time to show up the twenty something PHD graduates, because yes, I swear Alya at six could probably stare down Tony Stark in a mental battle and tie (I have some limits). This teaching style is extremely popular and the entire SHIELD Academy loves them.
There we have it folks my three favorite Fitzsimmons head cannons in honor of the 3 year anniversary of our internal joy as Fitzsimmons shippers. Have fun celebrating this glorious day my lovely fellow Fitzsimmons worshippers!

chaotic book ramble so I can stop spiraling into the abyss: my childhood favorite books that I've been thinking about lately
I start college in four days, where I'll be pursuing an English degree. I've been both a reader and by extension a writer my whole life. lately, I've been thinking about the books I loved when I was younger that fueled this passion and thus helped me along to where I am now <3
The Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer. I still have my old copies of these books, and when I tell you they are well-loved, I mean they are well-loved. they're sort of fairytale retellings, and take place in the Land of Stories, which exists as a parallels world to this one where fairytale characters are real and living beyond their happily ever afters. the books follow twins Alex and Connor, who find out (spoiler?? lol) that their grandmother is the fairy godmother. all sorts of stuff goes down, and honestly I only remember half of it like a fever dream, but I remember really loving it in book five (?) when they get to meet the characters from stories Connor wrote. honestly, I probably read the entire series over fifty times, and that's not an exaggeration. first read them the year the third book came out, when I was nine. waiting for the rest was, I recall, absolute torture.
the Spiderwick Chronicles by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. this is so funny to me, because these books basically set me up for my later teen years and loving the Folk of the Air series by Holly Black - but I digress. I first read these at age eight in a high-stress time of my life, and as a result they were likely deeply formative. they follow twins Jared and Simon (more twins ??) and their older sister Mallory (thinking back, she was absolutely part of my bi awakening). they move with their mother into the old Spiderwick mansion, and soon discover a fieldguide all about faeries and different fae species that live in the woods surrounding the house. I honestly think that the plot of these books is batshit, but I still sort of love them. there's a movie, but it's terrible, and aggressively condenses the plot into something completely unrecognizable.
Harry Potter, by... Harry Potter. isn't it great that, after his time at Hogwarts, he decided to write a seven-book autobiography?? so funky of him!! anyways - I read these at the ripe age of ten, and stuck by loving them since. HP was my first fandom, and maybe the one I'm fondest of (actually, thinking on this, no), and Hogwarts in general holds a lot of nostalgia for me. this being said, I still love the books, but I have to say that I reread them last year for the first time since I was maybe 14/15 and um. wow. Mr. Potter you are?? problematic??? someone please tell me why the adult man who was allowed to abuse children in a position of power for sixteen years got a redemption arc but the literal CHILD who was born into an abusive and power-hungry family didn't. also why is Dumbedore hailed as such a bloody saint?? he's worse than fucking Voldemort. I said what I said. also it's super confusing that Harry never mentioned in his autobiography that his Sirius and Remus were happily married and living at Grimmauld place. weird storytelling choice I guess!!
all those damned Warrior cats books by Erin Hunter. I swear to god these books had crack in them I ATE THEM UP from the ages of like. eight to eleven?? maybe??? genuinely, I must've reread them a hundred times, but I could tell you NOTHING about the plots. a few vibes, maybe, but zero plots. did they even have plots?? were plots a thing in those books??? how was I so obsessed with them???? funniest part is the fact that I see people talking about them on the internet now and it's just. insane. actually insane.
Lockwood and Co by Jonathan Stroud. full transparency: I read these for the first time at age eleven (around the time the fourth book out of five came out) and now remain an active member of the fandom. I love these books, and these characters, with my whole heart and I want nothing more than them to be happy. the Netflix show, though I have some pretty severe gripes with it, is still really amazing and absolutely deserves a second season. the books are set in London, where ghosts are real deeply dangerous, and follow the main trio of Lucy, Lockwood, and George. I reread them at the start of the year in preparation for the show, and they're genuinely just incredible works. I sobbed a lot reading them. they're absolutely comfort reads for me; 35 Portland Row is home.
wow. that was a lot. there's honestly several more I could talk about (School for Good and Evil, Percy Jackson, etc), but this is a long enough post for now, ha. love you all <3

Hi, I just read heartlines in like one sitting your writing is so good! And honestly the amount of tears i have shed is innumerable you have done an amazing job of like... showing the hopelessness the reader felt because of edward (who, tbh, I thought was the riddler until i read his last name) and also making the boys situation so compelling!
I was rooting for clark so badly like i want him to get a therapist or smthing please dude im begging i hope he leaves lois forever and gets a restraining order (and him actually hearing Y/N's heart was so painful Clark she's right there!!!). and god iris and barry make my heart hurt. like they give no children by mountain goats vibes to me? this idea of just sticking with each other just to stop feeling that pain of loss for even just a second. however, i cannot forgive iris for being glad doctor l/n died like huh??? sorry what??
also my theory is that we will finally get to see bucky in the hydra chapters and i am begging that the soulmate connection does something?? to help with the brainwashing. also wouldnt it be cool if she could use all her soulmates' powers at once and get like super super super strength. instead of punching loki through one (1) wall she punches him through three! :D
ALSO ALSO ITS SO PAINFUL EVERYTIME THE AVENGERS BRING UP SUPERMAN/BRUCE AND Y/N'S PAST LIFE BECAUSE SHES NOT DEAD GUYS COME ON!!!! its also really hilarious how loki's first instinct is 'yeah superman is dating that reporter so he obviously isnt one of Y/N's soulmates like?? please sir please get a conspiracy brain please you are the only one who can solve this. IF LOKI GOT TO READ THAT ARTICLE AND FIND OUT IT WAS SUPERMAN'S SOULMATE WITH EIGHT LINES WHO DIED- HE WOULD SOLVE IT ALL RIGHT THERE.
also also also i cannot wait for tony to realise he has the same soulmate as cap and bucky!!! so excited for the drama that is sharing ur soulmate with an eccentric billionaire who will be introducing her to his chaotic robot children (DUM-E my beloved...). im also hoping fingers crossed that the civil war situation doesnt happen so much here (as in the part where steve just... doesnt tell tony abt the winter soldier/hydra murdering his parents like dude please hes ur friend!).
i am also really scared for what hydra has planned. like pierce terrified me that entire time he was there i was so scared. LIKE HE TRIED TO GET NATASHA TO LEAVE TO ISOLATE Y/N MORE!!!! AND AGH- NATASHA BEING LOWKEY A LITTLE SUSPICIOUS OF HIM PLEASE SEE HIM FOR WHAT HE IS!!!
on another note; i do hope we get to see the rest of the batboys' reactions/coping with the reader's death. like i want to know what was going on with dick and jason and tim? was it insecurities and fears that the reader would leave them to form a 'real' (bio) family with barry or clark, or was it something else? (lois writing (fake! untrue!) articles about how adopted children are abandoned for bio children is something i could see her doing idk).
PLUS BRUCE TRYING TO BUY STARLABS AND BUYING THE DAILY PLANET IS SO FUNNY TO ME THIS MAN???? HE HAS SO MUCH MONEY AND NOT ENOUGH SENSE. i hope he and tony team up mostly because i think combined they can buy star labs and SHIELD and therefore have bargaining power over the other boys. idk rich ppl solidarity would be so funny to me (and only tony and bruce solidarity bcuz the difference in personalities between them is perfect)
plus plus the constant reminders you keep adding to how long it's been since Y/N's death are incredible. once the 2 year mark hits and the cover ups fade... god i cannot wait for that reveal to go down. the angst will be incredible.
anyways, i hope that you're doing well! your chapters are super long and so well thought out and plotted (like every POV flows into each other so well? if that makes sense), and I am patiently waiting for the next one! while also plotting lois's demise i cannot wait for Clark and Barry's reactions to her and Iris working with Edward (Diana and Bruce will have to be held back by the rest of the league lol)
also, a question that's been eating at me is: was the reader close with any of the other members of the JL? Like Oliver or Dinah or Victor or Hal? maybe she and Mera were friends so they could have coffee dates to deal w/ stupid self sacrificing workaholic husands/bfs :P
again, thank you so much for writing heartlines!! its so well plotted and paced its honestly amazing. your writing is incredible and i absolutely adore it!!! <3 <3
Hi hi, hello new reader! I'm always so excited when someone new comes into this, gives me hope that the writing isn't super long to scare *everyone* off.
You're actually one of the first people who has told me they hope something good for Clark's future! Most people would throw both him and Barry under a bus, and they're not afraid to tell me so! But I'm glad that there's someone who can see they just really need therapy and some help, they're both being manipulated and sure, they could've been smarter, they could've done a million things differently but, rn, all they can do is try to be better. (not that that's gonna happen anytime soon, but it's nice to daydream, right?). Now, Iris' actions aren't meant to be judged or forgiven for that matter, she doesn't ask for said forgiveness (not that she'd be delusional enough to think she'd deserve it... like a certain other reporter). She feels guilty, sure... but not enough for it to really count. Like when you feel bad when you pluck a flower out of the bush? You feel bad for it, in a minimal way, maybe even feel sorry for how now it will unavoidably die sooner- but it was going to die either way and this had the added benefit of you getting something out of it; the flower decorates your living space or whatever and in Iris case, she's not alone anymore.
Oh, and I like your theory. We will see Bucky next chapter, I can tell you that much... as for the power thing, well... it has to be trained, that's for sure.
Also, you can't imagine how you made me laugh, like full belly, heart laugh, when I read the "please sir please get a conspiracy brain please you are the only one who can solve this." YOU'RE SO RIGHT!!! If only he had a bit more of a conspiracy brain, a bit more curiosity for the man of steel, he could easily solve this whole puzzle. But the problem is my man is convinced he already solved it and it's all crooked, missing parts and such but he's staying with that theory for... a while.
I have not mentioned much about Tony this time around so, as much as I'd like to comment, my lips will remain shut... but do know that civil war, if it happened here, wouldn't be at all like the movies, if anything it would follow more the story-line of the comics. And yeah, Dr. Y/N L/N is the reason why, you'll see at the end of the next chapter.
Also, HYDRA sure is scary... but you're thinking it wrongly. Don't be afraid of Pierce, he's just a suit! Be afraid of others, like scientists who don't see you as a living being but rather an experiment they've gotta test out. Don't you see how rare of an specimen you are? For all of their accounts and secret info, you should be dead twice over! Why aren't you? What would it take for you to be? Those kind of questions are the things that HYDRA scientists are itching to know about.
Unfortunately we won't see much of the batboys in the next chapter (I DO APOLOGIZE I CONCENTRATE ON DAMIAN SO MUCH, BUT HE'S MY BABY)- but do know that Lois did wear down your relationship in very sneaky ways! The difference between bio-children and adopted children was definitely a weapon; as mentioned, the kids are afraid you'll want your "own" children with Clark and Barry and forget about them. And you can't really blame them- Bruce was more like an older brother to Dick than a father, the fact that you only have around 5-7 years difference with Dick doesn't help either. He did call you mom, and there was a perfect point in the relationship where he felt like a little boy again, safe and sound with you as a guiding figure. But it's pretty scary to think you can lose that or that you shouldn't feel that way for someone who's not that much older than you.
My dear, do not put too much hope in rich ppl solidarity, that is a MYTH. Rich ppl compete (and then become weird friends) but first they must COMPETE. Like the old romans. They're so different and yet so dumb, believe me when I tell you that at some point you will be caught in the middle and will have so much property under your name you don't have a clue on what you're going to report to the IRS- why do you have a yacht? What do you want me to tell you, I didn't even know a thing this big existed. why do you have 4 castles in the alps? Idk, for space reasons. What's the correct answer sir. why is there being a colony being set in your name in mars? At this point, your guess is as good as mine, probably better.
And it's so sweet of you to say that the flow of my chapters is good and natural? Like, I always worry about it. Will it be too long? Too short? Too much of a shock from one scene to the next? But I try to think it as a scenic movie, each scene has it's purpose and rhytm, however minimal they are- it's there. And I put the text breaks as a sort of commercial break lol, like just to signal you should take a breathe and prepare to read a different thing, a different scenario. I try to keep it one scene and one scene, I'm sure you've noticed. One scene for the reader, one scene for the grieving. One scene for the present, one scene for the consequences of the past. One marvel, one DC. Keeps you hanging a bit.
As for your question, first of all, don't think JL in the scale of the 2004 JL animated series. It's still on the beginning stages, so more like Snyder's cut with a few additions like Green Arrow, Hawkgirl and Hawkman (they WILL be important), Black Canary, and a lot (A LOT) of prospects, and the Teen Titans, obviously. Also, it would be worth mentioning that despite you knowing their identities, they never told you about them. You were a smart cookie and figured it out, same with Diana. You actually met Diana before you met Bruce! Diana is a curator and one of the most informed people on world history and you love her input on any new discovery of ancient rituals and beliefs about heartlines. As a sociologist, one that has decided to be more historical than actual, you actually rely a lot on archeology- and that's where she comes in to help. She is very fond of you because, while many women she's met in the man's world see her with envy, you are just so eager for knowledge, envy or hatred for her has no place in your being. You remind her of Athena so much, and remind her of the librarian of the amazonians, the one amazon who despite not being the most skillfull warrior of all, was the best strategist and was behind every magical and engineering defense the amazons counted on in case of any attack- the one amazon she viewed like the weird aunt, the aunt that would prefer to read her a book, or tell her all about the functioning of the walls and protecting spell rather than combat training-despite Hyppolitta's insistence on Diana's daily regime. You're just so sweet and she's convinced that Athena has blessed you with the curiosity and strenght for knowledge like she did to her aunt milennia ago. (Yes, she did have a small girl crush on you, sue me)
Lastly, thank you, love for this amazing ask! I'm so honored you took the time to read through it and send this. I love it, it really made my day and I hope my answers are good enough for you! If not, feel free to send me another ask or dm me (please do, I love talking about heartlines).

Go Home With Him (Loki One Shot)

A/N: Keep in mind this was the first Loki one shot I ever wrote and released, six months ago on Quotev. So please excuse the poor writing, I promise the idea will be worth it.
Drinks with the other avengers weren't Loki's idea of fun. He could barely tolerate some of them normally, but drinking sounded like the worst idea. The only avengers he truly got around with were Wanda Maximoff, Vision, Bucky, Banner, and Rogers at times. He didn't dislike the Parker kid, but he wasn't the problem it was mainly Stark, Romanoff, and sometimes Barton. Stark had been a pain in Loki's behind ever since New York had it not been for Thor Loki was sure that Stark would ensure that he remain trapped in his room except for missions. Much like he had tried to do with Maximoff when she first came. So while Loki would rather skip drinks he was going all because of Emilie Harrison. She was the fire to his ice, his other half even if she insisted on fighting him, she was still there especially when Loki had first arrived at the compound. She was the one who had seen him for his attack on New York as she seemed to take an interest in psychology. Loki was her favorite subject as she would ask questions about what it was like on Asgard and what they thought. Loki was his usual grumpy self through and was bickering with her. Yet for all of he had fallen for the stubborn girl who had made a place in his heart despite Loki's very disinterest in the idea of drinking. As of now all of the avengers were in a bar that Tony had rented out in case things got chaotic as often did with them. This is where everything began.....
Loki mostly chooses to be near Thor not because Thor was his favorite company. Thor could get on his nerves despite how much Loki loved the oaf. He was better than the current options: Stark, Barton, and Roger. Wanda and Emilie were sitting together sharing shacks the sound of Emilie's laughter was one he could hear even from where he was. Hearing the laugh and the way that Loki's heart was doing flips he knew he was doomed. Norns I am screwed for a Midgardian of all people he thought. As he let out a cruel chuckle at the irony of this. Thor had already cracked open some of the Asgardian ale he brought along given the Midgardian drinks didn't fill them as much. Once Loki let out a cruel laugh Thor nudged his brother Loki wearing a smile on his face. "Brother care to tell me why you have that look on your face."
  "You must be mistaken brother."
"Brother I may not be as smart as you, but I do know what love looks like."
"Love and me you are mistaken brother."
"I don't think I am brother. I think you are interested in her, so you have two choices you can continue to try and hide this from me or you could admit it."
  "Why would I do that?"
"Well, that leads us to our second set of choices brother. You can either tell her or I can tell her."
  "You wouldn't brother."
"But I would because finically brother if I can see pinning others will surely notice it. So would you rather it be me to notice of the man of iron?"
"You I suppose, but it's not much better."
"Well brother what could be the worst that could happen?"
"Brother surely you aren't that dumb. Do you not forget I am half frost giant, I am the very monster parents tell their children at night, and I tried to destroy your previous Midgard for a throne."
"I know brother, but let us not forget you had things going on and you do know that despite your fights with Lady Emilie she was the one who noticed your change in eyes something that not even I noticed brother. I am the only few who can see through your illusions."
"Brother, do you not forget how you always fall for my double appearance?"
"Yes, but other than that I can see through you brother. Besides you could always blame it on the ale." At this Thor picked up a bottle and held it up. Knowing if Loki had a chance to back out he would take it. Despite all of the front that Loki put up he was still like any other man who could be nervous around their crush.
"Fine if you stop pestering me, brother. I swear if she rejects me you will own me and you know what happens when you own me. I also get to erase her memories and I will expect no protests."
"Fine brother, but I think you might be surprised by her feeling."
"Whatever you say brother now hand me that ale. I need a little drink for this."
Thor got a spare glass and poured a small glass as Loki took it and drank from it. He took a step toward Emilie, who was now alone as Wanda was elsewhere.  His heart pounding so hard as he did. He even went so far as to conjure her favorite flowers. As Loki was trying to think of something to say anything, he just said the first thing on his mind when nothing came. "Come home with me."
"Loki seriously," Emilie said with a small chuckle.
  "Not Loki."
"If you aren't Loki then who are you?"
"The man who is going to marry you."
  "Is that so?"
  "Yes."
At that Emilie got a serious look on her face. "Seriously Loki, I am not in the mood for jokes. Besides, I have met far too many men like you. People who say sweet words, but can't uphold them."
"What if I could darling?"
"Loki I know you and I know that you aren't serious. So enough with the jokes, because it isn't funny."
"And if it isn't a joke what would you say?"
At that Emilie's face changed once more to one full of hurt. Something that Loki had no desire to see on her face. Something that he had never wanted to see on her face especially put on his face. "Come on Loki we both know how this is. You somehow found out my feelings for you and some reason despite my protection of you. Still, you seek to torment me."
"Darling what would make you think that I would do that to you of all people?"
“Perhaps because no matter how much time passes. You still manage to surprise me."
"Well, darling maybe I can show you that I am different when it comes to you."
"Oh, how would you do that oh great, Loki burdened with glorious purpose?"
  "I regret mind-controlling Barton."
"It's too late now isn't it sweetie?"
At this Loki's face went red he couldn't remember the last time he had been called anything sweet. "Perhaps it is so what do you say would you be up for marrying me?"
  "No."
At this Loki, face fell in fear of rejection. "I suppose I will take my leave you can forget this ever happened." At this Emilie grabbed his hand stopping him from doing so.
"While I might have said no that doesn’t mean that it will never happen.”
“If not never then what do you mean?”
” It means why don't we try some dates before we decide on marriage? You may decide that don't want to marry me."
"I highly doubt that darling I am far too gone on you now. If anything you may lose interest after all I am the monster parents tell their children at night," Loki added with a cruel laugh at the end. As Emilie got a look of concern on her face, yet in it hid something that Loki almost could see as love.
"You aren't a monster Loki, that was just the thing that was controlling you honestly if anyone is really to blame it is your adopted father gaslighting."
"Seriously you accuse the allfather of gaslighting? Isn’t that a mortal term?”
“Yes, it is, and rightfully so.”
Upon hearing this Loki let out a light chuckle. “Darling, I don't think anyone has said that."
"Well, then I suppose I am the first.”
“And that is a good thing?”
“Yes because your adoptive father gaslighted you rather than see how great you are despite his shitty parenting."
"How great can I be if I am merely the god of mischief?"
"Loki you were on Captain's side when it came to Bucky. You helped Wanda settle in and even defended her when you didn't have to. While you do choose to be grumpy and closed, you are still there for those you care for including your brother.”
  “Am I?”
“Yes especially with Thor despite you constantly trying to stab him.”
“Well then keep going what else might you see in me,” Loki asked taking great joy in hearing such praise from a woman such as her.
“Fine but you better not get a big head about this.”
 “Me never you wound me.”
 “Whatever you say.”
 “Now continue,” Loki prompted.
”As I was saying, you are smart, well-read, and always find something to say. Not to mention once they get close enough you accept others for who they are and if I must say you aren't horrible to look at."
"I don't know if I should be offended or not by that comment darling, but I suppose I will take it."
"Good and besides if there is anyone who should be worried it should be me.”
”And why is that?”
“Because I can't seem to hold someone down for more than six months,” she said in a teasing voice Loki could hear the slightest bit of hurt behind it.
So upon hearing this, Loki took Emilie's hand into his and put his lips to it. "That's their fault darling because you are mind-blowing to me. You accept everyone for who they are. You never just see one side I mean it's not just me but Bucky, Maximoff, Barton, and others. Sure you are stubborn but I love how you always have something to say and that you aren't afraid to speak up when needed. You are so intelligent, always having something to say, forever surprising me, not to mention you aren't bad-looking, darling."
   "Is that so?"
"It is so what do you say marry me?"
At this Emilie let out an eye roll that had love in it despite eye roll. "As I said before mischief dates before marriage."
"Fine, I suppose I can take it. So how about we get out of here and have one right now?"
  "Right now?"
"Yes darling or did you mishear me?"
  "But what about the others?"
"I am sure Stark will handle it."
  "I suppose but still...."
At this Loki unleashed his secret weapon his puppy dog eyes. "Don't make me beg darling?"
A smile slowly crossed Emilie's face seeing this. "Maybe I should make you beg, people would love to see it for a change."
"You are like me aren't you darling?"
"Perhaps you have corrupted me." Emilie's voice was full of teasing and love.
"Who is to say? So what do you say?"
"I suppose I can, but break my heart and you will pay."
"I don't doubt it, darling. So how about we get out here," he said as he offered a hand to her Emilie took it. The moment she did she could hear a loud cry from someone.
"I win you own me man of iron."
"Same for me Stark," a female voice said. As Loki and Emilie looked to see that Wanda and Thor were wearing cheeky grins, the others groaned before handing over some money.
"You bet on us," Loki and Emilie said in unison.
"Yes, we were all tired of your pinning, so we figured that someone would need to do something," Tony said.
"Say that again Stark and what you may call your iron balls might just vanish. How would your partner like that."
"Not my iron balls," Tony cried as he cupped over his pants. As Loki let out a mischievous laugh Loki may go far, but not even he would take it that far, but it was nice to know he had something on Stark. it could prove useful in the future.
"We will deal with you all later right now my love and I have a date to get to," Loki said as he took Emilie out of the place as the cheers of the members filled as they left. Once they left Emilie leaned her head into Loki's shoulder.
"You thinking what I am thinking?"
"Who knows love your mind always surprises me."
"I think we should get some money since they choose to bet on us. What do you say?"
"Sounds good to me, but enough about them why don't we enjoy our date?"
"Alright, where shall we go the first mischief I don't know what is open this late."
"Whose to say, but it doesn't matter as long as you come home with me."

Harley: Look. I may not be a saint, but it’s not like I’ve killed anybody. I’m not an arsonist. I’ve never found a wallet outside of an IHOP and thought about returning it but saw the owner lived out of state so just took the cash and dropped the wallet back on the ground.
Peter: Okay, that’s really specific, and that makes me think that you definitely did do that.

How I imagine an in-universe The Avengers musical
based on the comments from this pin
He starts the musical with the song "The Avengers Initiative" sung by the narrator Nick Fury featuring his speech
Loki has a ballad called "Kneel Before Me" during the scene where Tony and Steve catch him. This includes his theme from past movies (does he have one?) and his speech from the films, making this song one of the most dramatic solo songs from the musical. We get (hopefully) multiple reprises, each one getting more depressing and honest. (thanks @maddy_clough on Pinterest for the idea, I just expanded on it). Also, Loki dances quite gracefully and shows off a lot of his magic.
Nat is a mezzo and her solo/theme is the softest-sounding song (also @maddy_clough's idea). I honestly want it to be based on some sort of American children's rhyme (itsy bitsy spider?) to show how she is created by the red room since she was a child and was forced to watch many old (prob golden ages/wartime Walt Disney animation studios) Disney movies to learn American culture. Her fighting style is based on ballet and is the most graceful of them all. In her solo, she performs actual ballet, and fun fact, Nat is always played by an actor professionally trained in ballet.
The Chitauri has the most chaotic, hopefully unhinged dance ensemble, during the battle of new york. I just want it to be the craziest shit ever. But not disrespectful to the people lost in the battle of new york.
Steve actually doesn't have his own song/theme, it's the chorus girl song from the 40s. Fury did it to annoy tf out of Steve (and to please fanboy Coulson), but it is actually there to show you that since Steve became Captain America, Steve himself is just secondary. Most people don't want to know him because he's Steve but because he's Captain America. You'll think that Steve dances most with his shield but he's still Steve. He just punches every Chitauri he comes across using the shield as a surprise attack.
Look no one knows why the choreographer decided this but Clint never lets go of his bow & arrow when dancing. Like no one knows why, he just does. Hopefully, he does flips and cool moves, and he'll still be holding his fuckin bow & arrow. Oh and after the battle of new york, we get a bit where he lost his hearing aid so Nat & Clint sign to each other, and behind them, there's a little screen projection of each sign and what they mean. Considering how he isn't in any other MCU movies other than the avengers, I doubt that he has his own solo. like I wished he had a solo and confirmed that he does in fact spend most of his time in the vents but no one appreciates him in the mcu so...
Hulk has an actually good costume. Idk how they'll show the transformation but the Hulk costume is actually good. Bruce's solo is chaotic in a different sense cause Bruce and Hulk are fighting for the solo and their themes crash together. So the fight for control is also represented in the dance cause Bruce dances very small and it's controlled. Hulk is not as unhinged as the Chitauri but is out of control.
Thor's dance is based on Asgardian fighting techniques and how he fights in battle with his hammer. Unlike everyone else, he has an accent and in the script, the director used a whole different font like the comics to show that difference in accent and customs. I'm not sure how but I want Thor's solo and Loki's solo to be parallel in a sense, how you can see that they grew up together but there's a difference in outside respect that changes what they want.
Now Tony is very genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist throughout the musical but when he fights? He's the least graceful. Not only is he wearing his Iron Man costume (which is also very good and realistic) but he and Bruce are the only ones without actual training so he's very... chaotic. He has a solo where he introduces himself to the Avengers in "Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist" which shows Tony as what the in-universe during 2012 portrays him as but in the reprise, it's from Tony's actual perspective which is heartbreaking as always but the catch is the narrator changes from fury to Peggy for this reprise to shows the connection between him and S.H.I.E.L.D.
Does Coulson die, yes sadly. I'm sorry I can't change that even in the musical
Sadly Maria Hills was removed from the musical because according to Secret Invasion, Marvel and the MCU doesn't appreciate her enough to keep to alive.
The musical concludes with now the Avengers singing "The Avengers Initiative" with everyone doing their superhero pose cause why tf not.

'As one of the most talked about films of 2023, you’d expect Oppenheimer to have a cast brimming with Hollywood A-Listers.
And you’d be right: as well as Cillian Murphy, who plays the titular character in the film, fans can also expect to see the likes of Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Sir Kenneth Branagh, Rami Malek and Robert Downey Jr in the blockbuster, which has been created by writer and director Christopher Nolan.
Also starring in the movie is British actress Emily Blunt, who will play Oppenheimer’s wife, Kitty.
As the biopic thriller prepares to battle it out with Barbie next Friday (in what fans have hilariously dubbed ‘Barbenheimer’), just who was Kitty, and when did she marry Oppenheimer? Read on to find out more.
Who was Kitty Oppenheimer? Oppenheimer's Emily Blunt role explained
Early Life
Born Katherine Puening on 8th August 1910 in Recklinghausen, Germany, Kitty and her family - who were from a noble background, meaning she often received letters as a child addressed to ‘Her Highness, Katherine’ - moved to America when she was two years old.
Kitty entered university a few times in the early 1930s, but dropped out and married her first husband Frank Ramseyer in 1932. However, the marriage did not last, and Kitty received an annulment from the state of Wisconsin just a year later.
Her second marriage was to a young Communist named Joe Dallet in 1934. The couple moved to France, and Dallet joined the Communist forces fighting in the Spanish Civil War. He was sadly killed in combat three years after they tied the knot, which spurred Kitty to return to the United States and pursue a degree in botany at the University of Pennsylvania, which she completed in 1939.
She met Oppenheimer that same year - while inconveniently married to her third husband, a British doctor named Richard Harrison! Their love overcame the obstacle, though, and Kitty divorced her husband and married J Robert Oppenheimer on 1st November 1940.
The couple lived in the Californian city of Pasadena, before moving to Los Alamos in New Mexico for the Manhattan Project.
Life in Los Alamos
After Oppenheimer was appointed scientific director in Los Alamos, Kitty worked briefly as a lab technician there under the supervision of Dr Louis Hempelmann, but quit after a year.
As a trained botanist, Kitty felt her professional life was stagnant professionally at Los Alamos, and instead she thrived socially. She often hosted cocktail parties for small groups of women to provide a distraction from the high-pressure environment of Los Alamos.
Kitty was also an important confidante for her husband, as Oppenheimer trusted his wife completely and frequently sought her advice on a host of issues facing the Manhattan Project. Kitty and her husband relied on each other for a solid foundation in the chaotic years of the Project and in their newfound celebrity in the years to come.
The couple also had two children, named Peter and Toni. Toni, the younger child, was born in Los Alamos in a seven-room hospital that had been dubbed ‘RFD’, for ‘rural free delivery’, due to the high number of births that occurred within the Project’s first few years.
Kitty’s own fiery personality was tested by raising her two children in the unique setting of Los Alamos, before the family moved to Princeton, New Jersey, following the war.
Later Years
In the Oppenheimer security hearing in 1954, Kitty’s chequered past became an important consideration. She had been questioned and monitored by security personnel at Los Alamos, and was the most obvious link between her husband and Communism.
Both Robert and Kitty Oppenheimer affirmed their loyalty to the United States in testimony to the Atomic Energy Commission, but in the end, Oppenheimer was forced to forfeit his security clearance, effectively ending his career in government.
Robert and Kitty leaned on each other after the trial, as Robert maintained his academic life at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, and from 1954, the Oppenheimer family spent a few months every year on the island of St John in the Virgin Islands.
After a decade of relative peace, Robert developed throat cancer and passed away in early 1967. Kitty held a private ceremony for her husband, and spread his ashes in the sea outside of their home in St John, an area known today as ‘Oppenheimer Beach’.
Following the death of her husband, Kitty decided to move in with long-time family friend Robert Serber, and the two planned a round-the-world sailing trip in 1972.
However, shortly after embarking on the expedition in October of that year, Kitty became seriously ill and passed away in Panama City, Panama, due to a pulmonary embolism.
Oppenheimer opens in UK cinemas on Friday 21st July.'

ROLF “RIFF LORTON” LAUTMANN
womb to tomb wasn’t never a joke for me.
Tumblr media
NAME: rolf “riff lorton” lautmann
D.O.B: november 6, 1939
AGE: eighteen
SEX: male
ORIENTATION: closeted bisexual
OCCUPATION: former mechanic, current gang leader
FAMILY: born to wilhelm and helene lautmann, no siblings. partners and children are verse dependent.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: short brown hair. blue eyes. skin is somewhat tanned but still on the pale side. there is a crescent scar under his left eye and other assorted scars scattered across his body. he has three tattoos, one of a woman on his right forearm, one of a skunk on his right shoulder and the word happy on his left shoulder.
EDUCATION: high school dropout
RELIGION: raised catholic, doesn’t practice
ALIGNMENT: chaotic neutral/evil
ZODIAC: scorpio
PERSONALITY:
can’t you shut up for a single goddamn second?
nihilistic. stubborn. quick to anger. overprotective. reckless. fast talker (both figuratively and literally).
HISTORY:
Rolf Lautmann was born to Wilhelm and Helene Lautmann on November 6, 1939. The birth was a difficult one and the doctors said that it was a miracle Helene didn’t die. After Rolf was born, both of his parents decided that they wanted as little to do with him as possible. His mother was out all night, often with different men, and his father wasn’t much better. His father’s temper was the worst thing about his early life; he’d often take his anger out on his son, leaving him bloody and bruised on the kitchen floor.
When Rolf was twelve, he ran away. The police brought him home within the hour, so he waited until the house was empty and ran away again. This time, he hid in the dumpster in an alley. He was planning to wait until morning and use what money he had to buy a train ticket, but he was discovered before he could put his plan into action. Luckily for Rolf, he was found by Anton Wyzek. It was the beginning of a life-long friendship and a bond that everyone said was closer than the bond between brothers.
When the boys were fourteen, they started the Jets. They knew of other gangs and had decided to make one of their own to protect the West Side. Rolf had, somewhere in the time of him turning thirteen, started going by Riff Lorton. This was partly because he’d always hated his name and partly because it’d be harder for his parents to find him with a different name. Tony went by Tony, like he always had. The Jets grew quickly and soon encompassed the whole of the West Side. They were the greatest, as Riff liked to say, and nothing could tear them down.

I shall make kitty build a bear children, and maybe a sabertooth one
And owo those becoming tiny ideas
I love it
Amazing, and if I ever got a tony Azul I would honestly just hug him and give him many kisses and make sure to keep him away from Floyd and Jade, and also feed him fruits and chicken and let him stay in Ramshackle until he’s big again and make sure Grim doesn’t squish him and make him the most comfortable of tiny beds and honestly he would either be having the time of his life or get tired cause I find tiny things adorable
And Lilia flying around people like a fly is hilarious and you can feel tiny Riddle getting angry is just *chefs kisses your beautiful brain*
Omg yes! Then I’m going to make a dragon build a bear and a lion (if they have lions lol), our children are going to be so cute 🌻💕
Tiny azul can finally catch a break and relax because no pen or paper is his size lolol the tweels must be kept away because you can only assume the disasters azul will go through. Azul is going to be flustered with all the pampering but he won’t deny the attention. Though he will imply that you are trying to make him soft but you could tell he doesn’t believe that. It’s your caring attitude that makes him soft.
Lilia loves to fly around and basically be the chaotic voice in your head lolol but he’s real and just messing with people. I wouldn’t put it past him to come by and kiss you on the forehead or the cheeks and nose just to smother you in affection. Good thing he can’t cook anymore, so you made him food to enjoy. He probably can break the spell but is having too much fun.
Tiny riddle can enjoy all the tarts he wants because they are so huge compared to him lolol I would love to just wrap him in a blanket so he could cuddle and sleep and take a nap
Now imagine their clothing to go to sleep, you would have to buy doll clothes because they can’t stay in their same uniforms forever. So they would be all adorable in different wears. And you can either get doll utensils or ask a staff to magically make tiny utensils ( I guess you can do that with clothes too but I think doll clothes are cute).
These tiny characters can live with you and see what you go through and comfort you and tell you how awesome you are while patting yourself when you sleep.
