At first glance, the whole peaches thing is incredibly stupid. But, if you really think about it, it's almost ingenious – albeit in a very stupid way.

The last time Mirio pulled this off, he tried to make Eri laugh. Unfortunately, everyone (including Eri) seemed to be confused rather than amused by his antics.

And now, in the middle of a battle against the world's most powerful man, he does the whole full moon thing again – and somehow it works. Somehow it manages to be a complete success in every way. Not only does Mirio achieve his actual goal of buying some time for the heroes before Izuku arrives, but he apparently also managed to make Tomura Shigaraki genuinely laugh – probably for the first time in 16 years.

Kudos, Mirio. Just Kudos.

This entire scene may be ridiculous, but it also did quite a good job at further humanizing Tomura. It once again drove home the point that Tomura and Eri are narrative foils (with Eri being the child that got saved (but didn't get Mirio's sense of humor), while Tenko is the child that has yet to be saved (and seems to be into Mirio's sort of humor, I guess)). Moreover, it gave us the first taste of Tomura's real laugh.

So, I don't care what everyone else says. I absolutely love this scene.

I'm crying because,

“Mirio?” Chisaki muttered quietly.

Mirio stopped in his tracks and looked at Kai, he wasn’t sure how to react to hearing him finally speak. He stared at him, shocked and in awe, he looked into those golden eyes, those broken golden eyes that have seen too much, cried too much, bled too much. He watched the way his eyebrows furrowed in anticipation, the way his long eyelashes caught snowflakes as they fell and the way he fluttered them shut in an attempted to blink away tears. How could something so beautiful go through things so unthinkable, have done things so unthinkable? How should he answer? Should he praise him for having accomplished their goal? No matter what Mirio thought of saying, all he could muster was, “Yes, Kai?”

Chisaki looks back at the snow covered city, letting a warm tear fall down his cheek and a small smile pull on his face, revealing those dimples on either cheek, and crinkling the corners of his eyes. He sniffles his numb, red nose before continuing, “Thank you for saving me, Mirio… Thank you for letting me be a part of your million people.”

I don't know what happened, I was just writing words and then I read them and now I'm crying. How did I not realize I was writing this??

Tamaki cringed at the sound of a fist thumping the wall; judging by the direction, it was Garou who was battering away at the division between their rooms. Instinctively, he hid his head under a pillow and curled tight against Mirio, whose frame trembled with stifled laughter.

“Some people,” Garou howled, “are trying to study!”

“It’s just his oversensitive hearing,” said Mirio aloud, and the large span of his hand patted the space between Tamaki’s shoulder blades, uncaring of the damp sweat that had built up over their--activity. A shiver ran down his spine; his body tended to forget its limitations when Mirio was near.

“I think they assigned me this room because I’m the only one who lives quietly enough for his ‘oversensitive hearing.’”

Mirio considered this, and startled himself into laughing out loud too. “I guess this is the first time we’ve slept together in this room! Ah-h-h, Tamaki, you don’t have the reinforced soundproofing for your walls, huh?”

“I never needed it before,” Tamaki wailed into the mattress.
