Momentum

It's honestly really hard to put down a project when you have the motivation.

Like, amidst doing OT this weekend (work issues, I'm honestly kinda pissed even though it makes me look good) I managed to shake free some time to work on one of my crafting projects: I'm adding drawers to my toolbench.

And right now it's literally midnight. The lights I had out in the workshop have run out of power, and using power tools this late is... well, not forbidden, but definitely not the actions of a good neighbor. Moreover, I did reach a good stopping point.

And yet.

My brain is screaming at me to go out there and work on it more. I'm awake and I know what to do next. So... I should get out there and do it!

This is a bad idea. But damned if I don't want to do it. If I didn't have a super busy day tomorrow, I think I would.

im really excited to go ham on a bunch of junk in my garage with my sawzall so i can haul it off to the dump and finally make some sense of the chaos in there. my dad has a toolbench he wants to give me and im extremely excited at the thought of having an organized workspace at last. ok goodnight.

The original piece was made by u/MaySlae, and I worked from there, including giving her a name and title. Here’s what I commented:

Wyatt, the Tinkerer. She's a toymaker, and she's just always been a MacGyver type, able to make something from anything; which warrants the determination with it, but it also makes her feel real crummy (she's a 'if I fail, it's all in my control' type). She's always had to scrape by in life, and when her business was near bankruptcy, she became desperate. And here's where Maxwell comes in: "I can make your toys memorable, everyone will know about your inventions." Wyatt accepts, but instead of just being taken to the Constant, more occurs; Shadow Creatures come from a portal, and possess the toys around her. They mutate and twist, but instead of attacking her, they begin to create chaos around her. Creating monstrosities from other things around them, using lampposts as weapons, these monsters were born from her own toys.

And this is where the hypothetical trailer would end. Still not quite sure how she gets into the Constant, working on it.

She would have her own workbench, and she can make her own tools: a saw, an awl, and a chisel. A two person saw for cutting down trees faster (that obviously requires a different person with you, but you can cut down a tree in half the time), an awl as a weapon, and a chisel for breaking stone. Her toys are where she excels, and where she suffers.

Couple of toy ideas off the top of my head (the ones marked with S is a Special Toy, which will be explained later):

(S) A nutcracker soldier that chops down trees really fast for you.

A cup in ball that you use as a ranged weapon.

(S) A rubber chicken that can stun enemies with a loud squack.

(S) A tin robot that can fight tons of low health enemies (based off a Rock em Sock em Robot)

A top that can work like a weatherpain, but with less durability than a weatherpain.

A toyboat that can map out the ocean for you, but is easily destroyed by sharks.

A weaponized yo-yo made with cookie cutter shells. 

Toy instruments like drums, flutes, and a bugle that can restore sanity to yourself and others. Another instrument she can make is a thumb piano.

These toys are very helpful, and can only be made at her toolbench. But the toys marked special are both her utility, but also her handicap, when she loses her sanity.

If her sanity taps out (like it hits zero), then you've got a fight on your hands. Shadow creatures possess the Special Toys, and now you have mobs on your hands. The tin robot can't deal a ton of heavy damage, but he hits you fast. The rubber chicken squacks, and causes your weapon to fly out of your hands, but the attack animation is slow, by throwing its head back to hit you with its head. The nutcracker is probably the hardest; it hits you hard, it has ranged damage with its bayonet, but it doesn't move.

If you place these toys and lose your sanity, they come to life. You can pick em up before your sanity drops to avoid this fate, but you can't avoid these beasts if your sanity drops to zero and you try to get your sanity back up; once it hits zero, you're screwed.

These are the ideas I have off the top of my head.

I think maybe her voice could be a calliope?

Now for lore, probably the hardest thing. I think she could’ve grown up in a similar setting to Willow, but evading the orphanages and the cops by using her toys and tricks to evade them (she’s the kind to use firecrackers and poppers to evade the fuzz). But the most important thing: she knows of Wolfgang and Wigfrid, since she loves the circus and performing, so she saw them on stage, and kind of idealizes them. And by seeing them on stage, I mean she stuck her head under the curtain or snuck into the theater so she wouldn’t have to pay, cause she couldn’t afford it.

I have a few skin ideas that I’m working on right now: a sailor skin, a nutcracker skin, a rat king skin, a checkmate skin, they’re all inspired by ballet.

A month or so after their ninth birthday, Magi heard a knock and a sniffle outside their door.

Bo stood on the other side, cheeks wet, nose running. “I didn’t mean to,” said Bo.

She let Bo lead her downstairs. “I was gonna put in the car race game,” Bo blubbered. “But I slipped.” It was the Playstation. Bo must have grabbed the cord while falling, and it had come off its shelf and cracked against a windowsill. The TV hissed and spat with the static of a dead channel. Magi took it all in and thought carefully. She was nine, and (not but) she was smart.

Apinya was getting an MRI on her ankle. Carmen and Roberta were with her. They’d be out for another few hours. Magi knew where Roberta’s toolbench was. They knew how machines and TVs and a Nintendo Wii worked.

“I’m gonna fix it for us,” Magi told Bo with a bright smile. “You can go and get some fruit snacks. And then we can play your game together. Okay?”

Bo looked at her with pure admiration. No, even better. Awe. Magi could have flown, then. She could have done anything, if it got everyone to see her the way Bo did right then.

Despite the advancements of open-source large language models (LLMs) and their variants, e.g., LLaMA and Vicuna, they remain significantly limited in performing higher-level tasks, such as following human instructions to use external tools (APIs). This is because current instruction tuning largely focuses on basic language tasks instead of the tool-use domain. This is in contrast to state-of-the-art (SOTA) LLMs, e.g., ChatGPT, which have demonstrated excellent tool-use capabilities but are unfortunately closed source. To facilitate tool-use capabilities within open-source LLMs, we introduce ToolLLM, a general tool-use framework of data construction, model training and evaluation. We first present ToolBench, an instruction-tuning dataset for tool use, which is created automatically using ChatGPT. Specifically, we collect 16,464 real-world RESTful APIs spanning 49 categories from RapidAPI Hub, then prompt ChatGPT to generate diverse human instructions involving these APIs, covering both single-tool and multi-tool scenarios. Finally, we use ChatGPT to search for a valid solution path (chain of API calls) for each instruction. To make the searching process more efficient, we develop a novel depth-first search-based decision tree (DFSDT), enabling LLMs to evaluate multiple reasoning traces and expand the search space. We show that DFSDT significantly enhances the planning and reasoning capabilities of LLMs. For efficient tool-use assessment, we develop an automatic evaluator: ToolEval. We fine-tune LLaMA on ToolBench and obtain ToolLLaMA. Our ToolEval reveals that ToolLLaMA demonstrates a remarkable ability to execute complex instructions and generalize to unseen APIs, and exhibits comparable performance to ChatGPT.

Saya's workshop is a small garage attached to the right side of their little home. The mechanism on the garage door itself doesn't work, and it has to be manually lifted open. As well as that, there isn't a way to lock the door. It's generally the second or third thing Saya checks on in the morning, making sure her bike and tools are still there and that it wasn't broken into overnight.

It's her little spot where she can work on her hoverbike. There's a toolbench, a wall of pegs with more tools hung along them. She has a stool with wheels on the legs, and a radio that picks up local Orrean channels. It also has capabilities for her to plug her phone in via auxiliary cable to play her own music.

Many of the methods for upkeeping her bike, along with methods she uses to fix it, are things she's watched in online tutorials. Of course, with how unique her bike is, nothing is exact. They just give her a general idea for the most part, she she learns/teaches herself from there as far as specifics go.

There's a variety of hand tolls and power tools she has for her bike. These range from different wrench sizes, socket wrenches, screwdrives, and she even has a welding gun and a blowtorch she'll use from time to time (complete with a welder's mask of course), as well as an angle grinder. With the new set of tools she got from Mags previously, Saya no longer has to worry about her poorer quality wrenches snapping on her.
