The Worst Ant Video on the Internet

I did it. I found the worst ant video on youTube. I'm not going to link to it because it's *so* bad that I can't rule out the very real possibility that someone made it this bad just to bait people into watching it. But, let me give you a little taste of the horror. The calamity starts with the title:

"Most Dangerous Ant Spices"

Yes. "Spices."

Dangerous ant spices? Are we talking tarragon and cumin? Are these spices dangerous to ants? Or is this a warning about the dangers of ant cooking?

The spelling error is bad enough, but also the whole concept of such a list is a little... gauche? Why is there this idea that the only thing that makes insects interesting is thinking about how much they could kill you?

But-- even this I could excuse. After all there are a few ants with dangerous stings. But, what do you think is on the list? Do you want to know? Too bad I'm telling you anyways:

10. Harvester ant (This ant has a sting as bad as a bee. So, not a terrible entry for the bottom of this list...But the photo they used)

That is NOT a harvester ant. That is a weaver ant, genus Oecophylla. Weaver ants are tropical and use silk to make their nests in trees. Harvester ants are from the families Pogonomyrmecini and Stenammini, these are desert-dwelling ants who collect seeds and live underground. They don't even look alike at all. They do both have a sting, that's about as bad as a bee sting.

Maybe the next ant on the list will be better...? (of course not)

9. Redwood ant (What did wood ants do to deserve this??)

I don't even know what ant they meant by this. They showed an image of Formica rufa, the wood ant, and rufa do have a reddish color ... so maybe they are also called "redwood ants" But, why are these ants on a list of "Dangerous Ants" ?? They are a protected species that lives in the pine forests of Europe! They don't sting and can't even effectively bite a person. Their colonies are huge. They build mound nests of pine needles a meter in height and live in groups of 100s of thousands. They are gentle custodians of the forest enriching the soil and keeping the arthropod populations under-control. Beneficial ants that are so well loved they are protected from poaching since without them the forests would not thrive as well.

8. Odorous house ant (lol what?)

A few years back there was a recurring argument online about if ants have a smell. People who grew up in areas with the odorous house ant know that some ants, when crushed smell like coconut... or rotten face cream. The smell isn't exactly overwhelming and it's only around when the ants are crushed or injured. But it's very distinctive nothing is exactly like it. Most ants have no real smell. So people argued about this online.

But other than the smell there isn't much to say about these little ants. They are tiny, can't sting, can't bite. They can be house pests. So they are dangerous to your poptarts. Might smell a little odd for a few moments if you step on one. If this is "Dangerous" I don't even know.

7. Leafcutter ant

These ants are remarkable but they can't sting, they do have a powerful bite so I guess that's a little "dangerous" ... the majors could draw blood biting you. And they can defoliate a tree overnight ... so that's kinda ... "dangerous" ... at least they used the correct image.

6. Argentine ant

(is this a list of ants... most dangerous to other ants?)

Another ant that can't sting or bite. Linepithema humile is an invasive species and a huge threat to ant diversity in some parts of the world. This makes it even more unfortunate that the video, like many "resources" online used the incorrect photo for this ant. If you search for this ant with the common name "Argentine Ant" you will probably find a photo of another species incorrectly identified as an Argentine ant-- and, since it's invasive, incorrectly identifying one of your local beneficial species of ant as Argentine could lead to killing off the wrong ants. So. I edited this photo as it's not just misinformation... it is destructive misinformation.

Neither the ant in the photo, nor Linepithema humile are in any way "dangerous" except for the danger posed to native ants.

5. Carpenter ant (YES every single one!)

They did at least use a photo of one of the thousands of carpenter ants (Genus Camponotus) for this one. But that doesn't make up for labeling a harmless Campontus as an invasive in the last list item.

None of the Carpenter ants can sting or be dangerous. Some have a significant bite, but not as bad as the leafcutter ants lower on this list.

4. African ant (You aren't even trying anymore.)

I've decided making up something called an "African ant" putting it on a list of "dangerous ants" then using a photo of a trapjaw ant (Odontomachus speceis) that isn't even from Africa is probably racist ... somehow.

I think they meant to show the most famous ants from Africa, the driver ants. (Genus Dorylus) This is a genus of army ant that roves through the forests in columns of thousands. Their majors look vaguely like trap jaw ants. And they are a little "dangerous" ... though they are also well-loved since they will clean your home and land of pests.

3. Red fire ant (Guess what the photo showed. GUESS.)

Oh. NOW they show a harvester ant. I think that people don't think that real fire ants look as formidable as their reputation. So they use photos of the larger more beefy looking harvester ant instead. The common name "fire ant" refers to Solenopsis invicta, and invasive species with the ability to sting.

The sting of one fire ant isn't much... but they sting in great numbers and can be a problem. But this photo is a harvester ant, which is a much larger ant and beneficial. Harvester ants also sting. This may be why these ants are so often confused.

They had correct images for the last two items in their list. And both of these ants have significant stings and bites. That said neither is hunting humans for food or planning to take over your school board and ban books or anything.

The Magician’s Nephew Casting: Uncle Andrew

Just finished reading this book to my kids, and couldn’t stop casting creepy Uncle Andrew in my head. Intriguing and infuriating.

1. Jim Carrey. He was the first to come to mind because of this role.

2. Ted Raimi. Look, we know I love him, but he can play creepy so well.

3. Joel Grey. Love him. His role in Buffy inspired him for this list.

4. Martin Short. My baby.

5. David Hyde Pierce. My other baby.

6. Anthony Stewart Head. I prefer him as Giles, but I know he can play cruel and creepy very well. Love him. (Anyone know what this GIF is from?)

7. Ted Danson. I stand by my choice. His hair may have influenced the

decision. 😏

8. Christopher Lee. No explanation needed.

9. Michael Sheen

10. Richard Brake. Saw him in Grimm, and he was terrifying.

My Top 10 Favorite Episodes of “My Two Dads”

(Some spoilers ahead for a show from 1987.)

1. Joey’s Mother-in-Law

(Stefan’s Voice) This episode has EVERYTHING! It’s funny, it’s heartfelt, it tackles serious topics. And it’s the episode that cemented in my head that Joey and Michael are meant to be seen as a domestic couple. And this is not just with the title, but with the interactions and plot of this episode. Michael’s mother is a great character. She’s neurotic and initially dismissive of Joey and Michael “playing at being parents,” sure, but she doesn’t mean anything in malice as much as genuine concern. And she comes around by the end of the episode and even, 100% serious, calls Joey her “son-in-law.”

2. Pop, The Question

A sad but necessary episode where Joey and Michael are about to “divorce” and finally decide to take a blood test to find out which one of them is Nicole’s biological father. This decision is made against Nicole’s will, who firmly does not want to have to pick between Michael and Joey. Despite an initial fake-out, the episode actually ends with the audience/characters never knowing the truth, which I think was very big of the writers.

3. Kind of a Drag

Not the best episode, but absolutely the funniest episode. All the humor is pooled into the last 15 minutes, and features Michael dressing in drag as Joey’s pregnant “wife” named Felicia. With whom he has 10 children. All in the attempt to scare a toxic woman away from dating Joey (“Fellas, is it gay if-“). And Nicole is accidentally privy to this moment of Michael crossdressing, and her reaction had me in stitches. I’m completely confident that when Joey is laughing at “Felicia’s” script and behavior, it’s Evigan breaking character.

4. The Artful Dodger

The ending made me cry. Nicole puts off an art class assignment for an unknown reason, only for her dads and the audience to realize at the very end that she doesn’t have any artistic talent, and sees that as proof that she is not Joey’s daughter. Seeing Nicole standing there in the apartment, crying and saying “Joey, I can’t draw!” broke me. Of course they end the episode with the message that certain talents are not genetic, and Nicole’s lack of talent is not proof of anything. And of course, that Joey loves her no matter what.

5. A Story in Development

Possibly the best Judge/Nicole episode. Nicole wants to be as “developed” in breast growth as a girl in her class, who seems to be getting all the attention from the boys. After several failed attempts from her dads trying to counsel her on this (and a HILARIOUS scene where she and Shelby stuff their bras with tissue and the dads are trying so hard not to laugh) Judge finally steps in and explains that being the first girl to get breasts isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

6. In Her Dreams

On the night of her 14th birthday, Nicole dreams what her life might have been like if her mom married either Michael or Joey. This was the only appearance of Marcy Bradford in the series (TBH, I didn’t love the actress they picked. She looks nothing like Nicole and it’s very distracting.) and this is generally a very sweet and cute episode, with a lot of dream logic jokes I enjoyed. It also sneaks in a hilarious but somewhat dirty joke about an implied threesome between Marcy, Michael, and Joey.

7. Nicole’s Big Adventure

This was my episode where I was really and truly like “they don’t just love Nicole, they ADORE her.” Nicole sets out on a weeklong field-trip with her class to go camping, leaving Michael and Joey anxious wrecks. Though they try to have a “guys night” (playing poker with the gayest group of “straight” men I’ve ever seen), they end up getting a call from the camp that Nicole has broken her foot, and they drop everything to bring her home.

8. Sweet Sixteen, See Appendix

This episode flashes back and forth between Nicole in the hospital with appendicitis, and a few days prior where she’s trying to plead her case to spend her 16th birthday skiing with her friends instead of with her dads. The story is, overall, focused on the dads learning to let go and let Nicole be more independent. But, unlike “Nicole’s Big Adventure,” the episode also emphasizes how much Nicole still needs them. On top of that, it’s a genuinely cute episode of Michael and Joey fretting over their kid.

9. Say Goodnight, Gracie

Joey offers to babysit his girlfriend’s infant daughter, an offer which Michael staunchly disagrees with. Gracie, the baby, ends up crying all night and Michael gets stuck as the sole babysitter after Joey gets sick. Purely a self-indulgent love for this episode. I imagine that Gracie is Baby Nicole. And Michael is just adorable for how he fawns over her. The episode also makes a great argument in support of single-parents and is one of the slightly more feminist episodes of the series.

10. The Pilot/Soho’s By You

The first two episodes of the series really feel like one big episode, as they set up the dynamic for this unusual family. In the first episode, Joey and Michael “inherit” Nicole during the will reading of Marcy Bradford, then argue over who will raise her, and in the second episode they attempt to live separately as co-parents before Nicole literally guilt-trips them into living together. It’s a great start to a wonderful show.

What's your top 10 Harry Potter favorite characters?

Ginny Weasley - like this girl is so fucking badass! Her boyfriend breaks up with her so she dusts herself off and helps run an ARMY! She is the reason why Hogwarts had a resistance during the war! Then after the war she went on to be one of the best Quidditch players of the century!! Be still my beating heart this girl has it all, and on top of everything she had a severally traumatic experience at 11 and has only grown stronger and braver since!

Percy Weasley - the unsung hero of the Weasley family, and I know haters are going to hate, but this man would do anything for his family. He helped with autistic brother, he kept a steady hand in his ADHD brother, he helped teach his dyslexic brother how to read, and he will forever be the brother Ginny turns to for comfort. He sacrificed everything for the people he loves and it meant everything. (Also he is soooo tall and I find that super attractive)

Hermione Granger - at five years old I looked in the mirror with my two oversized front teeth and messy brown hair and thought that I was Hermione because everyone told me I was smart. I dressed up as her three times for Halloween in middle school. I consumed books and studied and just read because I wanted to be Hermione, and she is still and always will be a favorite of mine.

Harry Potter - without him we wouldn’t have the series, but I don’t care about that. Without Harry, I wouldn’t have a pedestal to place Ginny on (lol). I love Harry for his cool and calm demeanor with the perfect amount of sass and (un)observantness. He’s fun to write for and I love his voice and his sense of humor, and he’s never afraid to give some hard advice when needed.

Ron Weasley - do I love character development!!! Ron is such a fun character to write and read, he has so many thoughts and emotions that are fun to explore and I just always enjoy being in his head a little. I think he becomes a wonderful father and grandfather, and he’s the most well rounded individual of the trio.

Rose and Hugo Weasley - does this seem like cheating? Yes! Do I care?? Absolutely not!! I love these two because just like their parents, they have a very clear and well rounded voice and personality, I’ve written so much of them that I feel like we’re just having conversations most days. It’s fun and I love writing for them and giving them a voice they normally don’t get to have.

Draco and Astoria Malfoy - I love character development! I also wrote Draco a redemption arc where he’s a teacher’s aid to a group of preschoolers and he lives with Andromeda for a few years before her tragic death. I write him falling in love with the Muggle world and also Astoria. Speaking of which, Astoria is just a breath of fresh air to the normal Slytherin mentality and attitude. She’s so warm and giving and kind, she doesn’t hide behind walls of her own making, and she’s usually breaking down others. I love the pair of them together, and Scorpius grows up to have such a happy and stable life with them.

Scorpius Malfoy - he’s the perfect child to Astoria and Draco, he has some of Draco’s sass and stubbornness, but all of Astoria’s unyielding kindness and joy. He is such a sweet and good person who is ambitious in his personal and love life. He knows exactly how he wants his life to be and that means Rose Weasley was going to be his bride and mother to their children, and he gets it all at fifteen, a year sooner than he ever imagined.

James and Lily Potter - I was a Jily shipper before I knew what shipping was. I went seeking out jily stories for my first fanfiction experience and that’s led me down the rabbit hole I live in now. I love the voice of truth and honesty that Lily has, just like her son. And I love James serious dedication and overall hope that he also passes down to his son. Knowing James and Lily made me know Harry better, and the love they have is so powerful it’s managed to save the same life three times.

Angelina Johnson - like Ginny, Angelina is fucking badass! She fell in love with her husband at eleven and never felt her love for him waver. She played Quidditch so well that she was recruited for a starting position, but turned it down to go work in the spell damage ward at St. Mungo’s because saving lives means everything to her. She flew missions for the Order during the war and fought in the battle of Hogwarts without getting so much as a hair out of place. She then fell in love again with her husband as they both healed from their losses, she lost a baby and fought to not lose herself, and she almost died having her twins, but still she persisted. Ange is just amazing.

Number one may be of shock but it was the first movie I remember loving as a kid, and even now, I can watch it in different languages and STILL understand what is going on purely from memory! Now I also didn't include My Hero Academia in this, although I have been obsessed with it lately, and that is purely because I actually have not read or watched it yet! I have gotten my knowledge and love for it through osmosis and fervent research!

Gundam Wing was the first anime that I fell in love with, and Endless Waltz was the first anime movie I watched and bought. Naruto/Shippuden was my first obsession, and the source material for my first fanon Yaoi ship.

The Hobbit was my first full-length novel. I read it in the 4th grade, and after taking a test on it, I got 17/20 questions right, which was a surprise for my teachers!

MDZS and TGCF are the first Danmei/Donghua I got into, and that was literally about 6 months ago!

There are plenty of other media I like. The Magic School Bus was my favorite cartoon growing up. Then there is Emergency (circa 1970's). I like the Alien franchise a lot. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED is another anime I love. I am also a big fan of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives from the Food Network. Card Captor Sakura is good to watch. There are countless others, the ones I listed are simply the most influential ones to the person I am now.

Ten more guys who deserve to laugh!

My last list of this kind was just overall characters who get little to no love in the tickle scene! This time I wanted to focus on more side characters from content that might be well known but hardly ever get attention themselves! In no particular order of course! I also have numerous other characters from anime/cartoons/games/manhwa that are criminally lacking in the tickling content arena, but I might just do another list later down the line. For now here they are! 1. Rock Lee - Naruto Shippuuden/Boruto

First and foremost, this precious bean gets constant hate just cause of his hair and eyebrows. I honestly think his arc and character are glorious and he deserves so much more attention than he gets! He likes to train, so why not get him some endurance training and tickle that no doubt muscular body he has?

2. Aoyama Yuga - Boku no Hero Academia

Another character with a deep story hidden beneath being overly gaudy and comedic. This guy is absolutely adorable and shouldn’t be shunned from all the ticklish fun! Plus just imagine him trying to beg for mercy with a broken mix of languages!

3. Lee Jianliang/Henry Wong - Digimon Tamers (Season 3)

Most times I’ve seen Digimon tickles it’s usually from the OG group, or season 2/4. Season 3 had tickle scenes but it was focused on the digimon themselves rather than the tamers. I think the normally serious and cautious Henry could do with some ticklish fun to relax a bit more and just enjoy life.

4. Sabo - One Piece

How much do I even need to say? If you’re at all in the know on One Piece, Luffy is focus number one. Sabo though is definitely overlooked imo and should be allowed to laugh a bit more what with all the responsibility he has.

5. Goshiki Tsutomu - Haikyuu

A classic example of a character who loves being praised since he got to high school and realized he was no longer “gifted” but simply met the standard. He deserves to be reminded just how special he is and should be laughing while it happens, such a cutie!

6. Hitsugaya Toshiro - Bleach

Not a lot of people think of Bleach for tickles, but when they do I hardly see Toshiro mentioned. He appears young but is well over 100 years old. He’s so uptight with his duties as a captain, he should arrange a little vacation and get a full tickly massage to relax.

7. Minami Kenjiro - Yuri on Ice

He gets introduced and instantly caught my heart. This precious youngster is so obviously the “creative one” in his family. He gets so often skipped over though in favor of the shows more obvious pairs, I wish he just got some more recognition.

8. Rivalz Cardemonde - Code Geass

I can’t make a list and not include my favorite anime I guess. Rivalz is low on the totem pole but definitely is the perfect sort of “bro friend” material to deserve tickling in his own right. I can see him getting some tickles as payment for someone like Lelouch helping with repairs to his motorbike.

9. Hayner - Kingdom Hearts

With Kingdom Hearts it’s always Sora, Riku and Roxas. Hayner is like perfect tickle bait though! Tall athletic bro bestie who should absolutely be tickled as a way to raise money or something!

10. Thoma - Genshin Impact

It honestly took me a bit to think of a character from Genshin that isn’t already often talked about either in tickling or in general. To me though it seems like so many people forget about Thoma and how utterly perfect this man is. Seriously though he’s the perfect roommate! And a tickle fight is obviously perfect for bonding with him too!

I wanted to keep it to a single guy per series, or there would be more from Naruto, Haikyuu and BNHA especially! If you have some others you think are underrated, let me know in replies! Hell I might even have some headcanons for one of your favorites!

A new year, so I thought I’d post my updated actors I’d like fuck list.

#10. M. Emmet Walsh

A beloved character actor with a long, respectable career with over 200 films and television series. Sure he’s getting a little long in the tooth, but I’d still smash.

WHAT? This guy gave me a lot of j/o material over the years.

#9. Tim Hooper

The only guy on this list I KNOW I have a shot with as he’s gay.

#8. Dakin Matthews

An American actor, playwright, theatre director, and theatrical scholar who has such a cute face making him annoyingly adorable. Dakin has that perfect ‘Grandpa next door… that like to fuck’ look.

#7. Mark Addy

Mark Addy… DAMN. I need a few hours alone with him.

#6. Brett Rice

He’s tall, husky, handsome with a gravelly voice and he quite possibly have an ass that I can work with. Damn right he’s on my to do list. How could I not want to fuck him.

#5. Peter Gerety

An American actor who I’ve been a fan of his for years and every time I saw him on TV I wanted to fuck him silly.

#4. Jack McGee

An American television and film character actor who has appeared in over 100 films and television series. All in all, he’s basically a young Charles Durning, another hot chubby daddy I admired.

#3. Colin Baker

An English actor who played the sixth incarnation of the Doctor in the long-running science fiction television series Doctor Who from 1984 to 1986. Discovered him recently and he’s all I can think about now.

#2. Gary Basaraba

Handsome face, hairy, tall husky physique and… that ass… Now that John Goodman has gone thin on us, it’s time we made Gary Basaraba our king!

#1. Brendan Gleeson

An Irish actor and film director. He is the recipient of three IFTA Awards, two BIFA’s, and a Primetime Emmy Award and has been nominated twice for a BAFTA Award, five times for a Golden Globe Award and once for an Academy Award, but all that pales in comparison in being #1 one on my list. It's that time of year again!

TOP 10 BEST HIT SONGS OF 2022!

I did a few versions of the card but they didn't really work out, you can see them below the cut =) as well as some background info on making cards

This was the 'crack' idea, that the singers were feeling down but the dream of becoming their best selves is larger than they are. Their smiles are on the same line as BEST and the frowny guys are on the same line as 2022. It's too busy to be a good title card tho, so I made it and showed it to Todd just to get it out of my system.

Then these are what I pitched, with no drawn Todd, cuz I thought it might be too crowded. Youtube really recommends you have close ups of faces and I've heard cartoon drawings of people don't do as well as photos but with Todd, you can't just have a pic of his face facing you haha cuz he's in the shadows.

These are less crowded but Todd asked if I could draw him in, so we zoomed in a bunch and put him in there. Also since the 2 singers are wearing sparkly clothes, I gave Todd a sparkly green shirt so they all go together.

Some bg info on making title cards: it's not as easy as it looks. I have a fantastic "capture a still image" plugin for snagging stills from the music videos but oftentimes the singer is blurry or making a weird face. It was super hard to find stills where these 2 singers were smiling and not blurry or bizarre. Lizzo's smile is a little funny in the final card but most of her music video is surprisingly dark and blurry when you pause it. Here, for example, is a fantastic smile, but she is far enough away from the camera and in low light that I didn't think it would look good on the card, and I didn't want to artificially lighten her in PS. You can see her expression more clearly in the pic that's in the final title card and she doesn't have that reddish light shining on her.

Harry is morose during 99% of his video, which is definitely not the vibe I want for a best card. Why are you so sad, Harry.

Anyway after I watched these 2 music videos closely I actually asked Todd if he had another song he was willing to spoil in the card, because these videos didn't have good smiling stills.

Todd said having a card of Harry lying morosely on the ground was fine but I was like NO! It's the BEST card, they have to smile!!

So anyway that's how you got the final title card =)
