Despite not having an international home for Voltes V Legacy, the Filipino GMA-7 Network has announced an adaptation of Tosho Daimos as their next super robot anime to adapt for live-action. Funny enough, the joke with many Filipinos is that Daimos already hits a lot of the cliches of a traditional Filipino soap opera, while Legacy modified its elements to better fit that framework.
It also bares mentioning that Voltron is still in pre-production at Amazon Studios because the Voltron fandom was the absolute worst at Dreamworks, the Gundam movie is coming roughly never, Transformers refuses to move beyond the Michael Bay framework, but the Filipinos have successfully made a Voltes V adaptation and seem to have Daimos targeted for 2026. Hollywood has once again lost the plot.
omg you have the robot romance + daltanious art and infobook! can you upload pictures please? im from a third world country and i cant buy it on amazon. once again thank youuuuu! what did you like about the book?
Hi Anon, thank you for the Ask!
The book—called "Tadao Nagahama's Romantic Robot Animation" (長滇忠夫ロマンロボットアニメの世界)—is mostly a digest guide with series and episode summaries, monster-of-the-week guide, staff interviews, summary of other materials (such as manga), and some illustrations (sketches, mechanical designs, and settei) from each of the series with some description.
Much larger images (including some of the same images in this book) can be found in the Roman albums (art books) that were released for each of the series. Unfortunately, the Daltanious section uses scenes from the animation for most of its content rather than illustrations.
I like the monster guides the most. They are a concise way to look at all of the monsters at one time. It is interesting to see the progression of designs across the different series.
Below is an example of what one of the spreads from the Tōshō Daimos section looks like. This one is about some of the vehicles that appear in the show and which episodes they are in. The Triper 75S is in the lower right, and it's such a fun design. That would be a fun model kit to have.
I don't have a lot of energy/focus for scanning art books, but if there is something specific you are looking for, then let me know and maybe I can find it.
I don’t buy it. First because Voltes V Legacy would need to be a hit second because of the time it would take. I guess that does mean they’re happy with Toei though.
Still, Daimos? In live action?

I’d laugh if it got made before the Voltron or Gundam movies.
How would you write Richter from Daimos to be less forgettable? While I agree with you that he's weaker then Garuda, Heinel and Char, I think that the biggest issue was his unchallenged racism. Richter was always a bigot. Before Brahmin and Earth had their meeting, he insulted the humans and Erika had to call him out. He had low views on the humans from the start - even when Leon was shot, he never did an investigation and blamed the humans because he had a bias against them. And even though he's a bigot to the final episode, we're supposed to feel sorry for him -_- like hello, this guy wanted to execute his own sister over falling in love with a human?
Hi Anon, thank you for the Ask!
I’d say that you answered your own question: challenging his bigotry.
Typically in a setup like this, when an important character is a bigot, addressing the character flaw is part of the character’s growth (towards greater good or diabolical evil), especially when a family member or potential lover is involved with someone that the character is bigoted towards. One of the exceptions that I’ve seen to this is when the story is making a point about flawed heroes or honorable villains where they can do good and great things, or have a last minute realization to finally do the right thing, but they still have a raging character flaw, because real life is complicated in that way. I suspect that is what the writers of Tōshō Daimos were going for with Richter. I have some other cynical thoughts about that, but I’d have to rewatch the show to be sure.
Challenging his bigotry could be done in a mirror situation where he has some recognition through life changing interaction with a human, or more directly through his sister.
