feel like not enough people watch (or even know abt) Pushing Daisies

Like this is coming from someone with no attention span for things over 20 minutes, who hates live action.

Pushing Daisies has 40+ minute episodes and is live action and I love it and I watched the whole thing

This thing could literally be animated, it’s literally a cartoon but with real ppl (and not like those cartoon to live action movie things)

Literal fairy-tale style narrator every ep, and insane cartoony villains and fun wordplay and jokes and it’s a murder mystery and a romance and it’s very good

#rave ramblees #^ this is literally the only live action show I have ever completed aside from the Big Bang Theory #< that I p much only started watching bc my parents just put it on the tv in the background every night #bless them for choosing visually distinct actors and costume designs #so my face blind ass can actually know who is who #oh I guess I also watched Fawlty Towers (literal masterpiece of a show why is it only like 10 episodes)#I attempted to watch You once and like god the main guy looks so generic and the entire thing sucked in general #^ like I read the book first bc all the reviews were like #''oh this is so thrilling and horrifying such a page turner'' and it was the most boring thriller book I've ever read #I'm going to murder everyone who labels their boring af books in the thriller genre #STOP MARKING YOUR STUPID FBI DETECTIVE NONSENSE AS THRILLER GET YOUR OWN GENRE #I think I strayed from the main point of this post #but that is simply the nature of tags #I love tumblr for this feature

Something not only me but many other people have pointed out, is how Shadow throughout the whole new episode, was actually just tying to help/save Sonic in like every scene we see him in.

Sonic is preoccupied with his thoughts and didn't see the shard coming at him, and Shadow noticing this saves Sonic. And they even have fun playful banter as they go to the Grim.

"Thanks buddy!"

"Don't get used to it."

"Wouldn't dream of it!"

Shadow isn't annoyed. And I think that's really great development from his first appearance in the series!!

When fighting the bots, Shadow tells Sonic to go get the prism while he does the hard work of trying to defeat the chaos bots. He sees Sonic fall from the top of Nine's tower and he's immediately worried and tries to go save him from the fall but is not fast enough so Shadow goes to protect Sonic's body from the bots while Sonic regains consciousness.

Sonic doesn't catch on as quickly but Shadow immediately understands what Nine is implying that he doesn't have all the prism energy. And he immediately goes from shock to pure anger. He's angry of how Nine would go to the lengths of draining Sonic of his prism energy.

And immediately tries to take Sonic away front the Grim by throwing Sonic out of the way. And in the process, he has to go up against the bots all by himself and eventually-

He gets thrown into the canyon that could be god knows how deep. And who knows what might happen to Shadow. He might be found by the bots and taken to Nine, or he could be just left there to bleed and die. Probably Sonic will be the one to save Shadow.

But the fact is Shadow did all this to get Sonic AWAY FROM NINE.

And not only does he always keep a lookout for Sonic when they're facing Nine, he is also trying to look out for Sonic as they try to escape Ghost Hill.

He tugs Sonic away from the mountain that is one of the first things to collapse because he knows Sonic is still reeling from the events of what just happened.

Shadow tries to reach out to Sonic to perhaps comfort him?? He's not angry or annoyed, he just gave a reminder to Sonic that the Ghost Hill version of his friends weren't real. And later on when Sonic was lamenting about Ghost Hill and the shards are now all gone, Shadow offers him a compliment that lights up Sonic's whole mood.

And in many other examples I can't show because Tumblr only has a 10 photo bullshit, Shadow has showed that he puts Sonic's life in front of his. And that Shadow actually cares for Sonic and they aren't just 'enemies' who 'hate' each other.

Things in the third episode (Gems - cause I'm a gem enjoyer first and human second) of season 10 that continue to declared it as one of my favorite seasons:

• Jumping from a tower the height of a mountain "good thing I widened the river huh?"

• "Whatcha doing there?" - "Just going through my chests" Tango changing his chest sign to say they're Gems chests, followed by Gem calling him a pushover with both giggling

• Gem pointing Grian out for still fishing, especially after spending 2½ hours on stream with him doing the same

• "With a bit of help from a friend-" zooms in on Grian standing in the distance unmoving

• Intense planning to kill the guardian with tnt, only for it to be one more hit to kill. Going for the others and Grian going "wait there's more than one?" Followed by Gems "Griannnn"

• "There's a pillager outpost" - "I wonder if they have allays" - "No, this is how it happens Gem. We're gonna be lost in the wilderness."

• "Fish stop!" - "Grian!" Immediately pulls out fishing rod as well and fishes too. They have a problem your honour.

• Tango and Gem geeking out over the Guardian sound on the noteblock

• "No more distractions" immediately getting distracted again. Multiple times. And starting a raid.

• Ethos offended little "you punched me! You always punch me!" And Gems "You act surprised, like you never met me before."

• Etho wanting Gems Sniffer egg head, doing a whole thing about it. "You could have just asked" - "You could have said no" - "I don't say no to you often"

• THE LIGHTHOUSE AND THE FLYING FISH GOD DAMN IT LOOKS AMAZING

I got a good feeling about "The Acolyte"

Not even kidding. Like, I've spoken before about why I'm wary of it.

George Lucas' Star Wars is something that intentionally has black and white morality, rather than shades of gray. Those movies are meant for kids and projecting a "gray" morality onto them then proclaiming it was George's vision all along is doing so in bad faith.

The narrative of the Prequels doesn't frame the Prequel Jedi in as negative a light as Leslye Headland, Dave Filoni, etc etc do.

See here for more details, but bottom line: yeah, a show that has a darksider as the underdog is bound to demonize the Jedi (who are the actual underdogs in the Prequels), and obviously that rubs me the wrong way.

BUT.

The trailer looks fucking cool. It really really does.

And more importantly? I've done some research... and Leslye Headland is ticking a lot of good boxes, in my book.

1. The Acolyte won't be a 10-hour movie.

I've criticized Disney Plus shows before, explaining that a big source for most of their issues is that these series are being structured as "long movies" rather than, y'know, actual shows.

But in this interview with Collider, Headland addresses that: it'll be a series. Not a long movie that you need to watch across four weeks.

Thank God. You have no idea how much that comforts me. Finally a showrunner who's, y'know, actually running a show.

And this goes hand in hand with what she told IGN, here, about how she's going about building suspense.

Yes! Exactly! That's how it's supposed to be!

Like, compare this to Baylan Skoll's storyline in Ahsoka.

In no possible way was that emotionally-fulfilling. For 8 episodes we had no idea what he was after, and the season ended where we still don't know. What does he want? What is he after? Your guess is as good as mine, it's something Mortis-related.

So yeah. Maybe getting the Emmy-nominated trained screenwriter on board to run this was a good idea.

2. Maybe the Jedi will not be as demonized as I originally thought.

Don't get me wrong. 80% of what she says about the Jedi makes me cringe. It's the typical fan's interpretation and y'all know I disagree with that interpretation.

It's painful to see her refer to the Jedi as an institution (not how the Prequels' narrative frames them) and to see her frame "Balance" in the "oh there's so many of them and just two Sith, that means the Force is out of balance" meaning... but at least she acknowledges the Jedi are a benevolent institution.

They're not an "elitist force hiding in their ivory tower" as others have described the Jedi.

Moreover, there'll be a variety of Jedi POVs, many personalities.

Yord Fandar, is described as a strictly by-the-book Jedi Knight and guardian from the Jedi Temple, is an overachiever and a rule follower.

The question now becomes: will the narrative frame him as "your typical Jedi" or is it just this one guy? I'm hoping it's the latter.

I also like how her reasoning goes re: Jedi drawing their lightsabers.

Which explains the hand-to-hand combat seen in the trailer.

This teenager is coming at Carrie-Ann Moss with a dagger, of course the Jedi won't draw her saber.

3. She's a fan of Star Wars... but a screenwriter first.

You can tell in the interviews she's a fan. She's using words like "BBY" and "EU" casually. In the above-linked interviews she's bringing up the Nightsisters, Timothy Zahn, The Clone Wars, she mentions she has a tattoo of Ralph McQuarrie's concept art of Leia, the High Republic books, etc.

She's done her homework. She's a fan.

But the vibe I'm getting from these interviews is that she's weaving in these various lore-elements in a more organic way, rather than in the "fan-servicey" way Dave Filoni has been doing in his shows.

The references and Easter Eggs will be there, but the narrative won't bend over itself just so you can get it. Crafting a good story comes first, and Andor is a beautiful illustration of why this is true.

Which is why I was never bothered about one of the writers never having watched Star Wars before getting the job. You need those fresh eyes when you're tackling something of this scale.

That makes sense to me. Maybe it's because of my own screenwriting experience, but yeah. That out-of-the box perspective is precious.

And like, obviously, that writer watched the films eventually, but for some reason everyone who bitched about Headland omitted that detail and opted for a more bad faith interpretation.

Hm. Wonder why.

Maybe it's the same reason that months ago this clipped audio circulated socials without context, in which she debates whether Star Wars only came from George Lucas and only Lucas is the key.

The FULL context of that interview reveals that she's actually:

debating the "autheur director" myth and positing that it was achieved by a collective of excellent filmmakers and craftspeople that George was skilled and smart enough to recruit...

the studios now think it's a simple as hiring one guy and throwing money at him, because they have no idea what the fuck they're talking about. See Napoleon (2023) for example.

Yes, she also does a jab to the Prequels, which speaks to the generation of fans she's a part of... but overall she's giving Lucas props whilst also stating an ideological difference, that's it!

George is a proponent of the "autheur" theory, Leslye isn't.

However, guess what, in like half the talks George gave post-selling Star Wars? He's giving shoutouts to everyone who helped make the first film, even remembering their names.

So I'm not even sure he'd vehemently disagree with Leslye, in fact they'd prolly have a conversation about it and immediately bitch about how stupid studio executives are :D

But that's not as incendiary, is it? Again, the more I do the research, the more it feels like the reason most of these influencers are hating on her is purely sexist.

I mean, on IGN she's even acknowledging that she does plan on taking stock of fan reactions for Season 2.

It's not a guarantee that she'll incorporate the feedback, but at least that's more consideration than, say, JJ Abrams or Rian Johnson gave the fandom.

She's even bringing the moral ambiguity that the Gray Jedi-loving edge-lords love so much.

"No, she's a woke feminist! Anything she does is evil! Eww, girls!"

Needless to say... I'm gonna give it a shot.

I think it's gonna be a good show, I think it's gonna be a solid story.

I'm crossing my fingers that they won't as biased against the Jedi as it seems they'll be. Even if they are... if it's still an enjoyable experience, I'll gloss over it.

I watched Skizzleman's episode one of HC an hour ago and I love him so much from Phasmo and Life Series but I think this is my first time watching his videos-

He made me cry. I don't cry very often. And tears fell out of my eyes. The thoughtfulness behind making his base the 'tower of needs' or whatever the heck it's called made me cry because that's stupid thoughtful. Like. I struggle so much with self worth and stuff and I don't know why but it was so touching and oh my gods Skizz. Is amazing. Agh.

Also I have binge watched his first four Hermitcraft Episodes and I'm absolutely dying at the way he killed 112 wither skeletons and got no skulls and then Impulse just got a zillion in less? Like? That's so hilarious oh my gods

It did make me wonder whether there's a Minecraft mechanic kinda like the mending book thing where it's a total server kill rate and looting III speeds the cycling process through?

So let's say there's a guaranteed wither skull every twelve skeletons, give or take a few. And say Looting III skips through three at a time. So Skizz kills three wither skellies, which means he's killed 1-2-3, 4-5-6, 7-8-9, and Impulse kills one, which means that he did 10-11-12, so Impulse got the skull. Maybe.

Hope that made sense. It's either a Minecraft mechanic that has just been really unfortunate for Skizz (sad lmao) or Skizz just has astronomically bad luck which is the most comical thing I've seen in ages.

Also the "okay maybe not this time but next time! okay maybe not this time but next time!" over and over gave me so much joy, so much deja vu, and even more deja vu to Grian and Mumbo's diamond mining session in Last Life.

@wheelsupin-azarathmetrionzinthos wrote a beautiful story about Josh and Katrina from Joust Because, based around the idea that they are platonic soulmates. Several other authors picked up the thread of the same universe, and gradually brought in more characters and ships.

Now the extended universe of Josh and Katrina, or JKEU for short, includes tens of thousands of words and characters from almost every episode of season 2. It is a beautiful and mindblowing project where the community is, collaboratively and spontaneously, creating a whole world together.

Me after the MOTA finale

My longest (spoilery) ep discussion yet under the cut:

There was…so much, this episode and I’m still raw and emotional. What a rollercoaster. Damn.

First just want to say we got some scenes we wanted like Crosby losing his shit over the locked supply room! 10/10 loved it and Rosie yelling “coca-cola” at the Russians will never not be funny.

I couldn’t breathe in the forced march. And Bucky’s state is still bad and Gale stayed so close. The prisoners getting shot by their own plane was horrible, and happened a lot. Can you imagine surviving years in a camp just to get killed like that?

The scene where the prisoners are in the train goddamn killed me i was not expecting such a sudden shift. Bucky comforting the one guy who was terrified. Them being convinced they were going to be killed and Gale and Bucky’s little exchange??? Gale saying he really did believe they would be the last two in the air, with that horrible lost expression like a kid who can’t understand? Them saying these years wpild have be hard without the other and they wouldn’t have done anything different?

Omg Gale really did say he’s “in” for an escape just to get Bucky to calm down and not get shot 😭

Gale looks so much younger with his fluffy escape hair it makes me sad, and his heartbroken look when his friend got killed…

Let’s talk about Rosie for a second. That scene of him in the concentration camp was so powerful because there was no words, nothing happening, no action/reaction like so many other films. You just sit there with Rosie and realize. Seeing that writing on the wall was…well of course there’s no words. That’s the point.

“Not even the earth that covers our bones will remember us.” The power of that statement sucker punched me and drove home even more determination to keep doing what I’m doing in historical work etc., telling these stories.

THE WAY I FLIPPED MY SHIT WHEN WE SAW THE COMMONWEALTH TROOPS IN THE LAST CAMP!!???! The Indian and Caribbean pilots??? The Sikhs!?? The Australians!!! The Algerians and French colonials??! In love

The last camp riot when the tanks showed up was SO INTENSE and amazing. And honestly the best symbolism of the show was the Nazi flag getting torn up but the mix of all nations that fought, then seeing all the different flags flying as the guys cheered.

Gale’s longing look when he saw the planes dropping food instead of bombs broke my heart. His smiles getting back in the plane and taking the food, seeing the people happy to be helped instead of scared/angry of being attacked. THIS BOY HAS MY HEART.

Bucky in the tower and in the Jeep along side Gale’s plane was TRAIN SLAM OF EMOTION MY GOD.

OF COURSE BUCKY WOULDNT LET THEM SHIP GALE’S LOCKER

Their smiles in the cockpit together, real, sweet smiles after all this time, and ending with all the planes flying away into that gorgeous sky…I have no words. It’s been such an emotional journey and was a powerful ending. I still feel like I could burst into tears any minute.

Reactions to Tsunami Creator's Chapter 179

TL;DR - Cale cautious of using Water AP because he noticed the tattoo changes. More info about the "absolute god." Cale's group secretly enters Hainan.

Cale is Finally Aware Finally, Cale found out about the tattoo changes! He even calls it "rechargeable." 😂 And this discovery made him self-aware too... That if he coughed blood or fainted, his group might do... some crazy things, like Raon seriously destroying Jungwon's statue. 🤣🤣🤣

HOWEVER. While Cale had now become cautious of overusing his Water AP, he still hasn't explained to his group that his blood coughing episodes was just the work of VoH and not something to be seriously worried about... 😑

But him being cautious made some funny moments:

Water AP: The seas are rough! I can calm it! Cale: No. Water AP: Tsk.

Cale: I'll use this cape together with the DA. DA: Yes. *excited* Water AP: What about me? Cale: No. Water AP: Tsk.

Absolute God Info This part made me laugh because one of the lines perfectly fit Cale. 😂 We learn that the Blood Cult worship the absolute god, but this god has yet to exist. Only a few people know that there was no such god, and the rest believe that such a god exists.

The reason they gave was that a god might be created if they worship and pray to a human. Worship was the best way for god creation. And the person they worship was not the Blood Demon. There was no mention of who they worship, but given the past info, it's probably the King's Successor?

Amusingly, this applies to Cale too. Clopeh pretty much worships him already, Durst is serious about founding Caleism in Xiaolen, and Cale's recent actions in the Central Plains are laying the foundation of Caleism there too... 🤣🤣🤣 Cale is ticking off all the requirements on the How To Be a God checklist. RIP Cale's Slacker Life Dream... 🪦

Hainan Island The group enters a cave in the island where the first jiangshi experiment failures were dumped. The numerous bones there reminded Cale of Mogoru's alchemy bell tower. There was also info about the priestess who resided in Heavenward, a 10-storey blue building on the island.

Oh yeah, Cale was planning to use the Cape of the Sun item he got as a reward from Xiaolen. We learn that it had the effect of raising one's dignity/majesty. So if Cale used it together with his DA, how scary would he become? Enough to be mistaken as a god? Ufufu 🥰

Ending Remarks Chapter was boring again except for the short funny parts and God Cale foreshadowing moments. We'll probably get battle scenes next chapter, or a reveal on which Orsena lady became the priestess. And with all the red flags Cale has planted, I'm really looking forward to the blood coughing moment~! 😍

Just finished listening to Tmagp8 and here are some of my initial thoughts when first listening to it because OH MY GOD

(Spoiler warning)

This is a bit of a stretch, but you know the Assessment feedback of all of it (Structure & Organization – 50%; Knowledge – 40%; Understanding – 30%; Analysis – 10; Source Material Usage – 10%)? What if that's just Alex saying how much we actually know about the meta plot??

is this the new Robert Smirke??

"I propose that because these spaces are devoid of persistent humanity and consistent time perception, they have thus become dislocated from humanity’s shared mindscape, and there are unique health risks to people who are over-exposed to this phenomenon." And when it says this, is it invertedly commenting on OIAR? Like how they just constantly go through statements without actually stopping and trying to make sense of them and because they all work the nightshift, they are thrown out of the loop of normal daytime cycles in a sense? maybe it's commenting on what happened to Colin? Or why Teddy left? Tbh I think there are many factors of this episode that could sort of reflect how things are at the OIAR (like the tower that Terrance can't enter but still knows of its existence is a metaphor to the Magnus Institute that Sam is curious about but doesn't explore it at first because Alice discouraged him not to. But then like Terrance does actually enter the tower that is forbidden and ominous which is similar to how Sam still is looking into the Magnus Institute, as revealed at the end of the episode)

Also the repetition of "It’s my pleasure to welcome you! You are here! Stay awhile!” could sort of link to now that Sam has continued to explore about the Magnus Institute, he won't be able to stop and abandon his investigation into it. Also links to the whole thing of how obviously in TMA there's the whole thing of not being able to leave and how when RedCanary entered the Mag Institute, they didn't leave. And I feel like this is particularly reinforced by this quote from the chef, "The chef spoke again, and though his tone hadn’t changed, it was clear this was no longer a request: “Stay awhile.”"

Also if we are going with the theory of Jon and Martin communicating with the OIAR through statements, then if Martin chose this one, is he trying to say something about their current situation? Like when it says, "They weren’t even windows. They were gaping square holes and beyond them was nothing at all. Any one of the diners could reach out if they had a mind to and plunge their hand outwards into the dark, foreboding and utterly featureless void. There was nothing. Nothing above, nothing below, nothing at all. Nothing, save the tower and the restaurant." Maybe Windows 95 has a darker side to it that we don't know about yet? Or could just be Martin trying to be poetic and lament about his and Jon's current situation? Could link to how alone they both are, and suspended in a void after the change in dimensions? Like the void referred to could mirror what the computer is like when it's turned off? I know it's a bit of a stetch but yeah idk

Also maybe this part (And so when faced with the prospect of being eaten alive, or leaping out one of those windows into pure oblivion… it was no choice at all. I jumped.") is just Martin trying to explain how he went with Jon when destroying the Panopticon in TMA, but instead of being eaten alive, it's having to live with Jon becoming the bigger part of the Eye?

Then there's the whole thing of Alice saying how she doesn't like all the changes that are happening and she thinks that something is going on in the OIAR which I find interesting considering how she was so prominently detached she was before

ALSO COLIN!! Mental health leave? Seriously Lena? Ik he smashed Sam's phone, which probably isn't a good display of stable mental health, but it feels like she is trying to stop him from figuring out what is happening in true a Bouchard style. Brutal pipe murder when you don't want someone telling your archivist about what the hell is going on and 'interrupting your plans'? No, for Lena it's not-so-kindly removing someone when they start to realise you're a secret evil mastermind who's a failed-murderer

ALSO GERRY IS BACK!! FUCK YEAH! AND GEE GEE?! IM DYING- but it's a bit suspicious how he conveniently doesn't remember what happened to him (idk if this has been explained in the ARG, if it has, then just ignore me) and old books?? give this guy a break pleaseee

Also I feel like Camden Epiphany is going to be relevant later on since Gerry said, "Don’t forget Camden Epiphany!". I searched up supernatural theories about Camden, London and this was the first result:

Doyoung saw it and went to her as soon as he can. It wasn't clear what they were saying but Doyoung started to kiss her head and brushed her hair. Even though she got some hate after that moment fans still love how Doyoung was alerted even by something like that.

Why it's that specific moment idk but the bottom just drops out for me and it's soooo fucking stupid because like, she couldn't have just... bitched about being stuck with hard labor? That's the bitchy shit I'd sort of expect from a privileged nepo baby and even barring the twue wuv story going on it's her actual biggest issue going on right then. What she's presently living out. But yeah no, horny, we gotta establish that she's horny. Okay.

Sorry about the borderline vent over it there's just enough really interesting thoughts mixed up in the pile of flaming garbage to make one go rabid if they stew on it, and you clearly get that given the rewrite. Have a good day.

omg i've had that exact sort of thing happen with me before too tho, not in quite the exact same sense of like, "wanting to take part in a community but struggling to get through the source material it's based on", but there are like, so many webtoons and manga and stories I've tried to read - after being urged to by pals and people who read them - that I've dropped after multiple attempts of trying to read them. And they're not necessarily dumpster fires like LO (though some of them definitely aren't great) it's more like I'm sitting there wondering "when's this gonna get good? when's this gonna be worth all the hype?" Tower of God is the biggest one that comes to mind, I have tried to read that webtoon on SEVERAL occasions and I just can't justify trudging through all those early episodes for it to maybe "get good". And that's not even me saying it's bad, it's just not interesting to me in the slightest. No hate to anyone who likes ToG, I think I've also sorta drifted away from shonen over the years so that's definitely not helping, but I just can't be bothered to try and read that webtoon anymore, I've given it so many attempts and I'm doing lmao Kudos to the creator though because it's a LOT of work to make a webtoon of that length and they should be proud of that.

Back on the topic of LO though, yeah, I was following the comic when that episode was still brand new and it really made us all go 🤨 because of how out-of-pocket it was. And then like an episode (or two?) later she bullied a former classmate of hers from 10 years ago at his job. That was the precedent for Persephone's character that was set for the third season of LO and it's just gotten worse as it's gone on.

Either way, if I'm being honest, you're really not missing much by skipping over the majority of S3 (like, if you made it to the dick appointment episode before giving up then you're already pretty close to the current point in the story). Like I'm not gonna lie, you could easily skip up to the midseason cutoff point because everything leading up to that is just a bunch of nothing. Hades and Persephone get married and it's the most underwhelming scene ever despite it being the moment people had been waiting years for, also they 'adopt' Dionysus but he's barely in the comic except for when Rachel remembers he's a character so you could also get by on minimal details. Oh yeah, and it turns out Demeter had a kid during the 10 year time skip who we see in like two episodes and then proceeds to get fridged forever.

So yeah, as much as I'd recommend people read LO as a sort of "entry ticket" into the crit community surrounding it, S3 is a lot of nothing and you would frankly not miss out on a thing if you skimmed it or skipped the middle portion of it entirely lmao

Loser Round 7: Ken Amada (Persona) vs. Mabel Pines (Gravity Falls)

Ken Amada (11):

y'all are all for "murder and revenge plots" until is a 10 y/o boy who watched his mother die and started to become conflicted after realizing his moms killer is a secretly kind traumatized teenager to the point where the 10 y/o boy attempts to kill himself by giving himself up to assassins.

ken amada is such an interesting character with the unfortunate circumstances of having little screentime and atlus deciding to ruin his reputation forever by giving him a romance choice in the fem protag route. ken is a child who lost his mother at NINE. nobody ever believed him when he said that she was murdered, and that he saw who killed her. hes miserable, and all everyone around him does is give him sympathy while hes suffering and was forced to grow up before even going into middle school. hes angry and determined to get revenge on the person who killed his mother, and he doesnt even see the own value in living anymore beyond getting that revenge. hes more mature than most of his peers, and is desperate to be seen as an adult.but at the same time, he is still a child who likes superhero shows.

OH GOD WHERE DO I START

First there's the normal "The fandom hates kids" complaints of "He's so whiny" "he's so annoying" "oh my god kid just SHUT UP" y'know, the typical fandom stuff that makes you wonder if these people have ever talked to a child in their life

Second, there's (spoilers)...

October 4th, and the ENTIRE FANDOM is calling this kid a murderer.

For context, the moment in question doesn't necessarily paint him in the best light but its still understandable. Your team is going on a mission while Ken and another character named Shinjiro are away. In an alleyway, they have a talk where it is revealed that on that night a year priar to the game, Kens mom was killed in that allleyway by Shinjiro's Persona (Which, by the Rules of the Game Lore, basically means By Shinjiro). Ken tried to tell the authorities, the authorities didn't believe him because Magic Reasons and the death was ruled an accident.

Of course Ken is Fucking Pissed and wants revenge

However, because of Talk, he ACTIVELY CALMS DOWN, and realises "Hey, I probably shouldn't kill someone. Despite them, y'know, killing my mom"

HOWEVER REVOLVER JESUS COMES IN AND RUINS EVERYTHING BY SHOOTING SHINJIRO. AND LIKE, IF YOU PLAY P3P YOU CAN /AVOID THE DEATH THING/

AND EVERYONE BLAMES /KEN/. AND ONLY KEN.

And third (yes, there's a THIRD) IS THE FUCKING FEMC ROMANCE THING. WHICH JUST...SHOULDN'T HAVE EXISTED IN THE FIRST PLACE. BUT NOW HE'S "SHOTA BAIT" BECAUSE WE HAVE TO BLAME THE CHILD FOR THE AUTHORITY FIGURE COMING ONTO THEM 😒

Mabel Pines (12):

I literally saw a tiktok today about how Mabel is a bad person. She’s 12! Like yes, she has made some mistakes and bad choices, but so has everyone else. And I never see any of the other characters in the show criticized the way she is. Everyone in the show has made mistakes (Grunkle Stan commits crimes practically every episode ffs) but because Mabel is a 12 year old girl and acts like it, she gets the most hate. Mabel deserves to be loved 🩷

!!! Spoilers for Gravity Falls last 5 episodes !!!

This has gone down a lot but when the Weirdmaggedon arc was happening, the finale of the series, a big part of the fandom started hating Mabel because she accidentally caused the Weirdmaggedon (basically an apocalypse + bizarre shit like the water tower becoming an eight-legged monster with a giant mouth).

For context, in the episode that starts this arc, "Dipper and Mabel vs The Future", Mabel is really excited to the end of their summer vacation at Grunkle Stan's house, since it will be her and Dipper's 13th birthday and they will enter high school (her idea of high school of course coming from teen movies). But then this whole idea starts to shatter when Wendy tells her that high school isn't like a Disney musical, but it's okay, she will get through this since she will be with Dipper, her twin brother...

Except, that Dipper receives an invitation by Grunkle Stan's scientist brother Ford to become his apprentice after summer ends, staying in Gravity Falls, without Mabel. When she discovers it, she gets really mad at him and in a fit of rage, she accidentally picks Dipper's bag instead of hers and runs off to the woods.

When she gets there, Blendin, a time-travelling friend of theirs finds her and tells her that he has a way of making her brother stay with her, and make the summer take a little more to end, and that he just needed a little thing that Dipper has in his bag. That thing is a dimensional rift that Dipper and Ford contained to not cause the Weirdmaggedon, but Mabel didn't knew about that and gives it to Blendin. Blendin then breaks it and it's revealed that Bill Cipher was controlling Blendin to get the rift and release the Weirdmaggedon. He then traps Mabel in a bubble, starting the final arc of the series.

So, a few episodes later, that bubble she's in is revealed to be a world of fantasy that she controls, and that she didn't want to leave that world, as she was scared of growing up etc.

Context given, A LOT OF PEOPLE HATED HER FOR THIS. Suddenly people started seeing Mabel as just a selfish girl who wanted things only her way, when she was only a 12-year-old scared of growing up without her twin brother (they do end up going back together at the end but still).

The worst part is that apparently the people behind it took note of this, and on the comics that where released after the finale, she is a selfish spoiled brat. I haven't read the comics though so I'm going off what some people said about it.
