And those behvaiors, beliefs, and standards must always, all-ways, uphold and reinforce the power of the dominant group and maintain a social order. 😪 That is what scares folks (of all genders) to see a Black women and MaGes (marginalized genders) like @chloebailey enjoy/own/profit from their sexuality and body autonomy. Some are afraid of us and some are afraid for us. I was afraid for Chloe because I recognized that what she was doing directly (and publicly) challenged power, control, and dominance, which is always met with violence, repression, and policing from both men and women (see my previous post called "How 'Protect Black Women' Can Be Problematic" for a primer). It can't just be "Protect Black Women." It's also "Abolish the Patriarchy/Misogyny." Hello and kia ora from Aotearoa! If you haven't heard, notorious transphobe Posie Parker has unfortunately been allowed access into the country to spout her bigoted rhetoric.

She has already toured Australia, where she was drowned out by trans voices telling her to go home and stop her spite and hate.

Now in Aotearoa, it's our job to do the same. Our counter-protests are on the 25th March, 11am, Albert Park and the 26th, City to Sea Bridge; Check out https://twitter.com/Transliberated for more information and organization.

There are multiple types of “transitions” a trans or non-binary person might go through. - Social (coming out, name use, pronouns) - Legal (documentation) - Presentation (what they wear, how they walk in the world) - Medical (hormones, surgeries) - Spiritual/Religious (roles in a spiritual group, affirmation through such contexts, astral) … and more Some people may do one, and not others. They may do part of some of these, but universal (ie coming out to friends but not coworkers, or having surgeries but not having hormones). When saying someone is transitioning, it may be any, none, or all of these things. Doing all, or none, of these things does not make anyone more or less transgender, trans*, non-binary, or gender expansive.
