She seemed sincere in what she was saying, though hearing the slightly stutter in Souji's words he reached over to hold his hand, hoping to calm him down a little more. A silent question in his eyes, asking if he was okay.
@thelazyeditor
He turned to Aki with a smile, seeing the question written all over his face. He gave him a smile, squeezing his hand and nodding. He was fine. It was so long ago, but the pain would never feel dull.
Tsukiko watched the exchange and smiled, almost sadly. She could see it clearly herself, the last moments seeing her daughter with the man she loved, his quiet support, and the way she looked at him. If anything, she knew her grandson had found true love.
"Mizushima-san forgive my lack of manners... I know this is to connect with my grandson, but I cannot ignore you as well. Please... would you tell me about yourself?"
"How long have you known Souji? You two look quite well together, and you two clearly care for each other... have you known each other long?"

SLBP OCs and dealing with feelings time~ Aka I posted this to twitter so here it is in one place~
Long post with a healthy warning for angst and generally unhealthy thought patterns under the cut!
Miyu’s method for dealing with her feelings is to pretend she’s not having them until it boils over. Then she shuts down completely. Feelings can be used against you. Feelings are particularly useless to a shinobi. Even if she isn’t that good at most of it.
Aimi’s mouth goes a mile a minute when she’s trying to hide something that’s hurting her. If she’s overly chatty and cheerful, it can’t hurt...? It’s fine, it’s fine. She’s tearing up from yawning, from being tired from anything other than her heart hurting.
Tsukiko buries her feelings in work. Sewing when she’s angry, cooking when she’s on the verge of tears. Anything to keep moving so she doesn’t become a burden. She’s cracked before in front of Shingen, yes. But those are cracks that she patches up quickly with an attempted smile.
Hiroko’s the most vocal, sobbing her heart out or bouncing off the walls with joy. If she’s quiet? She’s processing. Processing and trying to see if maybe she’s swinging too far in either direction and if such an outburst is bothering the folks in Oshu.
Suzume’s a bonfire at the best of times, if she’s upset someone’s going to hear about it. At least until it’s insecurities and nagging thoughts of not being good enough. That’s when she goes quiet, retreats for a few hours to regroup or winds up in Oda’s bed rather than talking.
An aside for this but, Mitsuhide as thirsty as he is, is very much indirectly responsible for the times Suzume does falter. She can handle outsiders scoffing at her for having the audacity to marry a samurai and a lord at that but for someone she considered a friend to throw those same barbs? That’s when she starts wondering if she wouldn’t have been better served remaining as a maid, returning to the capital basically anywhere BUT Owari and Nobunaga’s bed. The outsiders don’t know her, but Mitsuhide’s a friend. Right?
Kiyoko absolutely 100% cries while her temper runs wild. If she’s hurt then the world’s gonna know. If she’s upset? Whoever’s guilty is going to know about it even if she’s a sobbing mess while she’s doing it. Angry? Cry. Sad? Cry harder. Happy? More tears.
Hikari loves silence with her feelings, a cold shoulder for whoever’s annoyed her, mild mind games until they figure out what they did and HOW. Sarcasm is her friend and shield, more than the tears that come if people press hard enough. She’s hurting, and that makes her spiteful.
Hibiki’s feelings are kept at arm’s length in a locked box under everything in her closet. They’re something OUTSIDE of herself. Outside of everything and nothing she deserves to sort out. She’s a manipulative mess, she gets people hurt when she fools them into loving her or so she thinks. Then again it must be true. Look at her family, her friends, they get hurt because they care and it’s clearly because she believes she’s manipulating them into caring.

Starry★Sky in Autumn -Hoshizuki- 11/9
The day starts bright and sunny, and Tsukiko hopes the weather holds until tomorrow.
“Hi, Yahisa.”
Hoshizuki greets Tsukiko and breaks her train of thought. He comments that she looks full of energy even though it’s so early. Tsukiko laughs and says he looks as non-energetic as usual, but isn’t he excited about tomorrow?
Tomorrow? What’s tomorrow…?
Uh… the school trip?
Oh yeah, that. He totally forgot about that.
How could he forget? Tsukiko can’t imagine forgetting something like that. She can’t wait! He looks amused and tells her to go ahead and enjoy herself.
Okay, while Hoshizuki may be pretty low-key about it, do you know who’s just as, if not more excited than Tsukiko about the school trip? I’ll give you a hint, his name starts with H and ends with ‘aruki-sensei’.
He gives a super excited run-down of the itinerary to the class, then warns everyone not to be so excited they can’t sleep and consequently oversleep and miss the bus in the morning. He tries to get Mizushima into helping explain but Mizushima’s his usual self and just complains a lot. Tsukiko expected this and finds their usual comedy routine amusing.
After class, she heads to the nurse’s office for a meeting about the health reps’ roles in the school trip. Since she was on cleaning duty and ran late, she arrives after the meeting is already over and only Hoshizuki is there. He doesn’t mind catching her up to speed but asks her to wait until he finishes making up one of the beds.
Was he sleeping on the job again?
No, he says, just a little defensively. Since she was late, he filled the time by changing the linens. Oh, in that case, she offers to help, and insists when he tries to tell her to wait while he does it. She reaches for the futon in his hands but loses her balance and topples over into him. In true otome game fashion they fall over into a heap but alas there is no CG for this. Why? Whyyyy? (actually I know why, we get a much better one later in the game BUT STILL)
Hoshizuki chides her and asks if she’s okay, but then he and she both realize how close they are in proximity to each other and are surprised into mutual silence. They’ve ended up with him on top of her, so Tsukiko couldn’t move if she wanted to. But more importantly…
How could I move with him looking at me like that…?
Hoshizuki finds his voice first, averting his gaze and apologizing. The slightly gravelly, emotional voice that Ishida uses here is exquisite.
Tsukiko quietly tells him not to worry about it and they both finally get up. He gruffly shoos her away so he can change the sheets, and Tsukiko takes this time to calm down. She thought her heart would stop there for a moment.
As it is, her heart beats furiously all through watching him change the sheets and the brief meeting they have after he’s done.
Between that, and the excitement about the trip, Tsukiko doesn’t get any sleep that night…

"You told them we were coming right?" He was looking up at the gate of the 'house' where they were meeting up with Souji's family
@thelazyeditor
Souji just nodded. It was a large gate, and he couldn't see the house anywhere, which only made him shudder. What kind of a place was this?? He was greeted by a man who came to the car, and Souji cleared his throat nervously. "I-I'm Mizushima Souji I'm... H-here to see Tsukiko-san??"
"Ah, yes, please go through it'll be the house at the end f the road." Just like that, the gate was opened and they could go through.
But the road seemed to go on for a while, with a few houses passing by. "W-what in the world... it's like an entire neighborhood here...." he thought to himself. It just made him nervous, and even more so when he saw the large estate looming closer. That must be the main house.
