"A very familiar bird over most of North America, running and hopping on lawns with upright stance, often nesting on porches and windowsills. The Robin's rich caroling is among the earliest bird songs heard at dawn in spring and summer, often beginning just before first light. In fall and winter, robins may gather by the hundreds in roaming flocks, concentrating at sources of food."

American Robin (Turdus migratorius)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I feel like just because they are a common bird that you see a lot, they aren’t appreciated! But they are resilient and powerful little birds, and great hunters too! They’re a true thrush, not related to the European Robin by anything but name and color scheme. When they run along the ground, and stop, and listen, and look… they are hunters. I feel as though they are under appreciated. So even if this is for niche birds… I hope my expression of love and passion for these little, humble birds makes them a great contender for the tournament!!"
Well, I should probably start this off by saying the Partners in Flight database (as of 2019) estimates that the American Robin is the most abundant land-bird in North America, with over 370 million individuals. This is more than European Starlings, Mourning Doves, House Finches, and the ever-present Red-winged Blackbird. As much as I love our dear robin, this baby is the exact opposite of a niche bird.
Still! These birds are quite wonderful little characters and should be appreciated as such. They sing so frequently and so, so loudly. They forage in large winter groups once the breeding season ends, and are typically considered short-distance migrants because of this behavior. There is evidence that robins can find an earthworm by hearing it underground!
"It has a place in Native American Mythology The story of how the robin got its red breast by fanning the dying flames of a campfire to save a Native American man and a boy is similar to those that surround the European robin. The Tlingit people of northwestern North America held it to be a culture hero created by Raven to please the people with its song."

Hi I'm new to Tumblr. This is my 3rd social. 1st was Facebook (I only use messenger), twitter (which I made, forgot, remembered, tried to get it back, but noooooooo, I'm a name taking bot.) and now the laundry in the washing machine.
I have watched Tumblr videos, but I know that's nothing, so ... Help?
Also any other moderate South Slavic socialists?

American Robin (Turdus migratorius)
The American Robin is named after the European Robin for its similar red breast colouring, but the two birds are not closely related. Their diet consists of invertebrates and fruits and berries. They flock to fermented berries of Pyracantha, and will sometimes exhibit 'drunken' behaviour, such as falling over, after eating sufficient amounts.
