We are facing rocking energy prices, with no increase to our income. I got excited when my Norwegian friend said for Christmas she is going to get me some wool leggings, because she knows that we are unlikely to be able to afford heating over the winter. I am more fortunate than some too. I know it is unlikely that I will not have food in my belly. . Our PM thinks helping the most vulnerable in society is "giving hand outs" and to really rub salt in the wounds she gives tax cuts to the rich. The conspiracy theory that Boris hasn't actually resigned being he didn't say he was resigning in his speech is entirely built off people not understanding how British politics works.

To be a prime minister you need to be the head of the party with the most members of parliament, Boris announced that the party would be picking a new leader. That started the process of seeing someone else elected head of the conservative party automatically becoming the prime minister. Boris is currently on as caretaker until we get to that point to ensure there is always a prime minister.

Given that he's barred from running in the upcoming leadership election there is no scheme or plot he can use to engineer a situation whereby he remains prime minister but, someone else is the leader of the conservative party.

Jeremy Hunt was in the Conservative-Liberal Democratic government that was formed in 2010. Hunt has been quoted as saying that David Cameron and George Osborne showed political “genius” by persuading the country to accept public spending cuts without sparking violent protests.

Same old policies

After 12 years of Conservative rule, where Tory Austerity saw our public services cut to the bone, ruining millions of lives, nothing has changed. We are now, thanks to Jeremy Hunt, facing Austerity ll, and it threatens to be even more damaging to our public services than ever before.

Same old excuses

George Osborne 2014 Budget Speech:

“I have never shied away from telling the British people about the difficult decisions we face.”

Jeremy Hunt 17.10.22 :

“…I want to be honest with people: we have some very difficult decisions ahead.”

Same old results

All this means is that ordinary working people can expect to see their living conditions continue to worsen over the foreseeable future. The rich will become richer: the poor will become poorer.

The Poor

“In the 10-year period leading up to FYE 2020, median income for the poorest fifth fell overall by 4.8% (£690) to £13,800.”

The Rich
