[Emily and Murph talking over each other] Emily: Hey, man, it's New York somewhere! Murph: (reading) "As he leaps, he yells at the top of his lungs." (on his own) "'Give 'em the wrench wrench wrench! Right in the neck neck neck!' The words echo through the chamber, but unfortunately words have no affect on fire breathing (laughing) turtles! Luigi's effort is futile! He loses his footing halfway up the ramp--" Caldwell: Here we go! Murph: "--six fireballs hit him at once--" Caldwell: Can't wait! Murph: "Then the all-too familiar words appear on the red walls: (yelling) Game Over!" [Caldwell laughs] Emily: Okay. Murph: When suddenly! A familiar face appears on screen! Caldwell (New York accent): "Ey, Luigi!" Murph: It's our Uncle Harry with a fire flower! [Emily and Caldwell laugh] Murph: Suddenly, uh, Luigi has fire power from the memory of his-- (laughing) of his uncle's ghost. Caldwell: Wait, can I-- let's not waste this. Let's do a little roleplay. Murph: Uh-huh. Emily and Caldwell: Okay. Caldwell: (NY accent) "Ey, Luigi, it's me! Your Uncle Harry! What's goin' on, buddy boy?" Emily: "I'm a--" Wait. What's-- Murph: You're Luigi, Em. Emily: Okay. Okay, um… (heavy Luigi accent) "I'm-a havin a hard-a time-a! I ain't got-a no fire power!" [breaks off laughing] Caldwell: "Oh, I hate to hear that. Hate to hear that, my sweet child. Anyway, if you make it outta this, I got a hot tub fulla lasagna with yer name on it!" Emily: "Does it come widda OJ?" Caldwell: "Oh-hohohoho, you better believe it! OJ, uh, blood orange, any sort of breakfast juice you could desire." Emily: "Passion-a fruit-a?" Caldwell: "Oh, you better believe it! I was--" Murph: The turtles are just hurling fireballs at Luigi's dead body at this point. Just kickin' him! Emily: "Hey!" Caldwell: "I went to the continental breakfast at the Holiday Inn and I stole all the juice I could find, Piesano!" Murph: It's just-- these are just two spirits speaking while turtles just stomp on Luigi's corpse. It's almost indistinguishable from his live form. Caldwell: "Anyway, I made way too much lasagna, hence putting it in the hot tub, so I need you to come over and finish it up for me! Which is why I'm giving you this fire flower." Emily: "Oh! Uncle-a Harry!" Caldwell: "I've transcended time and space to place it in your pocket. You gotta use the fire flower and come join me in my hot tub! It's getting real saucy, and I mean that in multiple ways!" Emily: "I'm-a comin' for you, a-Harry!" Caldwell: "Okay, I just lit up a big fat cigar, I got one with your name on it, get over here my buddy boy!" Murph: Okay, so-- [Emily laughs] Caldwell: "Don't invite Mario! I fucking hate that guy!" Murph: Uh-- so, Luigi's Uncle Harry hugs him, granting him fire power, and Luigi's Uncle Harry, his spirit dissipates as he floats back down to hell. Caldwell: This is like in Final Fantasy VII when you get to use the ultimate limit break.

"the yukon affair" (2x14) is a mixed bag of an episode—mildly interesting plot meets period typical racism/cultural insensitivity, which happens a lot on tmfu—but i love the character of murphy so much; she's shown to be super smart (she's a mcgill grad!) and self-reliant, she's super proud of her people, her character is given a fair amount of nuance in regard to how she talks about navigating both the western and indigenous worlds and the struggles therein ("it's not easy to be part one thing and part another. no one treats you as if you're real"), her chemistry with illya is spot on (their flirting featuring the line "i've always adored blonde men" is so fun), and it's cute to see her give him and napoleon a kunik at the end of the episode before she heads back to school to get her master's (back at mcgill!). of the innocents we see throughout the series (especially when episodes are otherwise mid to bad) i think she's one of the stronger ones overall!

#i wish we saw more from this actor too! i couldn't find out anything about tianne gabrielle (it seems like this was one of her only major #roles) but i think she was particularly strong in this ep even given the wild insensitivity/racism that shows up #the man from uncle #murphy tmfu #illya kuryakin #napoleon solo #gif warning
