#US and China compete to save the world

latest Freddie DeBoer seems odd. It's very focused on a sort of consumer-facing understanding of technology for a lot of its runtime. He's not wrong that the changes are smaller than they were in the 1800's but like. That's the low hanging fruit, we all know this, the jump from "not having trains" to "having trains" beats almost any improvement in "trains"
A major change technology has brought to the modern world imo is heavily streamlined manufacturing all across the industrial stack.
If you read like, Bunie Huang's Made in China blog series, in the early 2000's getting a piece of technology made required enormous in-person investment of time and effort working with your manufacturing teams across a pretty broad number of suppliers and industries, you had to get PCB's made, components sourced, moulds designed and set up for injection.
I know people manufacturing small to medium run commercial and industrial electronics, and I did that at my last job. You order machine populated PCB's from your favourite Chinese PCB solutions provider over a web form. If you need ten thousand buttons, you can get that delivered with three emails. Hell, if you want a custom genome to use for some experimental bioreactor, there's multiple competing suppliers who will mail you plasmids that you can customise from online templates and you don't even have to talk to anyone.
And that's just mass manufacturing. If you're making a few thousand of some high end medical equipment, or still in the development phase of design, you can order a titanium laser print to be delivered by the end of the week, or run off a dozen prototypes on your company's fleet of printers using body safe plastics.
Consumer needs don't change much because people are people, we have limited capacity to need things and do things. I've long said that no human can digest more than 50Mbps of media in real time, really. One home cook can only economise their movements so much. A food processor and a pressure cooker can save you some time but the solution to"I want to spend less time cooking at home" will eventually become "don't cook at home, lean on industrial manufacturing of food" and that's fine. There's only so much tech can improve your individual experience before you become the bottleneck.
Faster computers sure, means you can edit video on your phone a little quicker (also hey people ARE editing video on their phone, despite what this blog post says) but it also means Netflix can serve their 4 Petabytes of video library at 400+Gbps from a single server occupying less than 50 liters of space.
It seems disingenuous to act like consumer products feeling stagnant means technology is stagnant.

Doctor Who, but Chronologically 29ish
Fun fact! When we started this project, some Whittaker episodes did not exist, and we’ve skipped one! So Let’s hastily go back in time to 1807. We’ve just seen Tennant make eyes at Madame de Pompadour, we’re about to see Capaldi finally be a good guy and take Bill to the last London Ice Fair. Where are we this episode?
China! 1807 China, a little fishing village that gets annihilated by Sea Devils.
I was rooting for this episode, you know. It sounded great. The guest cast is smoking hot – when Crystal Yu turned up as Mistress Ching the Pirate Queen, I said “Oh no” aloud. When Arthur Lee turned up as Legendary Pirate Ji-hun, Steff said “Oh no” aloud. We are bisexual and week. Also, return of Sea Devils! And a Chinese episode! The TARDIS team is Whittaker, Yaz and Dan! Sounds great!
It’s crap. It’s just crap.
Good points: the banter between the characters is lovely, and I laughed many times. I suspect this is an actor-director. The start makes clear something I already suspected from the Flux stuff we’ve seen – that Dan is actually Yaz’s companion, not the Doctor’s. There’s a very fun scene where they all step out of the TARDIS, and Dan is dressed like a pirate. “What are you wearing?” the Doctor asks, incredulous. “Yaz told me to!” protests Dan. “Yaz!” says the Doctor. “Did you dress Dan in that?” Love it.
The sci-fi plot is okay. The Sea Devils have Team Aqua’s plan to flood the world and make more habitat for Pokemon Sea Devils, which they aim to achieve by swapping the magnetic polarity of the Earth’s poles. “I see!” exclaims a character. “That’s why all the constellations physically changed in the sky!”, a sentence that gave me 50 points of psychic damage and necessitated a quiet lie down.
The absolute worst part is that, continuing a grand tradition of Doctor Who writers trying to use Sea Devils, Silurians or Ice Warriors, these writers didn’t understand the story they were telling. We therefore ONCE AGAIN have an allegory of native people trying to commit genocide to reclaim their stolen lands and needing to be stopped. I am 100% certain that was not intentional, but fucking hell, lads.
But the second worst part is that this episode is absolutely atrociously badly shot. It is appalling. I spent half the episode trying to fucking see, because even in static scenes of two people talking to each other and not moving, the camera would just… slide off the characters, even while they are talking. And this is our second swashbuckling pirate episode featuring swordfights where they didn’t bother getting a choreographer, apparently, and thought they could make up for it by putting the camera in a bag and swinging it about in a windmill to cover the gaps.
At two separate points, two separate scenes, the Doctor offers a hand to Yaz to pull her somewhere. In both, the hand is partially-to-entirely out of shot, making the action unclear. And that is a problem, because THIS IS A DOCTOR/YAZ SHIPPING EPISODE HOLY SHIT????
It turns out Yaz has talked to Dan about this, and he has possibly talked to the Doctor, because there’s a lovely bit where Yaz fully embraces the Useless Lesbian Trope and begs him for details (“What did you say to her?? What did she say to you??? Omg tell me her exact words –“). Towards the end, while the Doctor saves the day and Yaz as ever fails the Sexy Lamp Test, the Doctor gives her a heartfelt confession.
“I can’t do relationships,” she says. “There’s no time. But if I ever did, it would be you. I’ve never felt like this, not since my wife, and I was a different man then.”
PLOT TWIST!!!!! Whomst is her wife??? How exciting. What mysteries are arising this episode.
Interesting, though, because so far, as nice as Yaz is, she’s super bland. Just nothing to her. Even episodes where she’s appeared hyper competent, she’s actually just been doing pointless busy work; she routinely fails the Sexy Lamp Test as standard. I wonder why her? Intriguing. Perhaps she will improve.
Anyway, at the end of the episode they agree to just stay friends and mutually Yearn for each other, and then the Doctor skims a stone INCREDIBLY badly (no srsly tho Jodie does Huddersfield not have a river or something you have to get LOW)
So! Let’s update!
“She” (an unknown person) is returning (perhaps River returned as Missy. Maybe Me? Maybe Clara???!)
There is something on Donna’s back
An entire planet, Pyrovilia, just… disappeared, somehow. (Maybe because the TARDIS is exploding??? Saturnine was also lost, and that WAS because of the TARDIS exploding. The lion man’s planet was also lost but he was a bit of a knob about it if I’m honest.)
Amy is maybe dead (she’s not)
The Doctor has been cubed (he’s out, but how?)
River is possibly blown up  (unless she’s Missy)
The TARDIS has blown up  (It’s fine now. Except it’s sort of melting now because it’s corrupted, but it’s fine again)
The universe appears to have ended  (the universe is back again)
The Doctor has employed(?) Nardole
(And Nardole was “reassembled???” Nardole had glass nipples and invisible hair?? WHAT THE FUCK IS HE)
There’s a vault in the TARDIS and it contains Missy but we don’t know why (sometimes she knocks for the bants)
What has happened to all these companions and where are the new ones coming from?
There’s an immortal Viking girl now. Her name is Me and she’s now looking after the people the Doctor abandons
What’s With The Silence?
Why was Rory entirely unconcerned by the entire world suddenly going silent when that is Not Normal and should have been, at the very least, extremely disconcerting?
What did the Doctor do to Queen Lizzie One?
Who is Captain Jack Harkness? (Is he the one who gave the companions a warning about the lone cyberman?)
Why is Amy seeing a one-eyed woman in a vanishing window?
What’s with the Doctor’s future involving getting shot by an astronaut?
Is Amy pregnant and why is it inconclusive?
Who is Sarah-Jane Smith?
How is the Doctor Bill’s teacher and why/where does he have an office?
What is going on with the Cyber War and the Cyberium???
Who did the Doctor lose to Cyber Conversion?
What happened with the Other Cyber War?
What happened with the Third War that deleted the void?
Why does Rose seem particularly important?
What’s with the Weeping Angel statues, and why can’t you blink at them?
What order do these Doctors go in? (Eccleston, Tennant, uncertain, Smith, Capaldi, Whittaker)
Which companion just… forgot the Doctor, and how?
Yaz and Vinder are about to die as Mori/Mwri/Muuri
There is a Lupari shield around Earth.
What’s a Time War?
What’s the Rift?
What’s Bad Wolf?
What happened with Amy’s pregnancy?
In which war did the Doctor become a war criminal, and how?
Who is the Master?
Why has Amy forgotten Rory?
Is Rory plastic or not?
Why is the Doctor sulking on a cloud?
How exactly does the Doctor have a cloud?
What exactly happened with Strax to, uh, tame him?
Which friend killed Strax?
Which friend brought Strax back?
Where did this lesbian lizard and human couple come from?
What happened with Clara as Souffle Girl and the Daleks?
How does Clara actually join?
Why so many Claras?
Why is Missy apparently in robo-heaven?
Why is probably!Missy pushing Clara and the Doctor together?
What is Trensilor and what happened there?
Who is Handles?
The Doctor is about to be dissolved by a beautiful geode man
The universe is being crushed by the Flux
Will the Doctor open the fobwatch?
Sontarans are invading Earth again
Who is Kate?
Who is Osgood? Another name of Clara’s again?
The fuck is the deal with the Grand Serpent
Does Martha get to go to an ice cream planet with 12-fingered massage aliens?
How did the Doctor forget Clara?
Who is Bill’s puddle girlfriend Heather?
How did Nardole die?
When does Bill get Cyberman-ed and die?
When does the Doctor shrink and enter a Dalek called Rusty?
Whittaker is falling to her death rn
Was that ring relevant?
Does anyone know the Doctor’s name?
When did Yaz talk to Dan about fancying the Doctor?
When did Dan talk to the Doctor about fancying Yaz?
Who was the Doctor’s wife?

This is an extremely oversimplified way of looking at things, but the unprecedented economic prosperity (not for everybody, of course, but you understand) of the United States from the 50s to about the 2000s is basically consequence of WWII. As worthy of a cause the defeat of fascism was, it came to a great cost. After WWII, the industrial centers of Europe and Japan were smoldering ruins. The USSR had millions dead; it's a wonder that they managed to compete with the US for decades instead of collapsing. The only economic power of any note was the US, and they redesigned the economic panorama to their liking, in particular ensuring the domination of the US Dollar.
This is why they either tried to sink their main competitors (namely, Brazil, Argentina and Latin American countries untouched by the war that were on their way to become industrial powerhouses) or led the reconstruction on their own terms (leftist movements in Europe, Japan and South Korea were repressed, as all over the world). It's the logic of empire.
Now, I am worried that as US quality of life drops because of the mismanagement of their own economy and the want to save an overextended, crumbling empire, they will start to see the rising powers in China, India, and perhaps elsewhere and say "maybe, if their factories were ruins..."

I have officially lost all belief in human progress or that western civilization is anything other than a fraud
all these people are basically livetweeting their deaths and no one DOES anything
So much for the UN, the long arc of history or 'never again'.
videos of ppl outright mocking the victims like "we have water and you don't"
so much propaganda it puts the WWI meat factory thing to shame, no wonder no one knows what to believe
the constant shaming and actionism and guilt-tripping as if panicking helps anyone
How many babies to need to be killed till it's no longer "self defense"?
RIOTS ARE ALWAYS A FAILURE OF THE AUTHORITIES. It doesn't matter if anyone 'condones' killing (I don't), but, you mistreat people, some of them WILL riot. I'm not saying it's great, or they should, but they WILL. Human fucking nature. Israel had all the power there; They created conditions where ppl will riot.
Who is dumb enough to believe there's always conveniently a base under everything they bomb? Even if there was, I assume Hamas have legs & can walk away, whereas the civilian infrastructure STAYS destroyed.
And even if you get all the baddies, what then? In 5 seconds you'd have a new, worse group out for vengeance for their slaughtered family members, burning with the same "rightheous" fury as you
We can debate about labels all you want, but there's no way cutting off water to a large city isn't an attemt to kill-em-all. Same for bombing the place they were told to go
On the other hand... Ppl's tendency to shove everything into the currently popular framework... the colonization thing certainly applies in many respects and it was in some ways smart of the activists to frame it that way, but, you can send the British back to Britain, where are you gonna send the israelis? You realize you're not getting them moved anywhere without yet more atrocities? So big side eye when ppl go putting 'Israel' in quotation marks, I do wonder what course of action they're implying. I can't in good conscience tell ppl not to be triggered or scared over it.
I get that it's not just to expect anyone to 'be the bigger person'. But someone has to. They pulled it off in Rwanda. Do you want "justice" or peace? You can't have both. How about no more killing of anyone.
Biden was kinda coming near to saving himself with the union stuff he's been doing, but now he's shat the bed bigtime which is a problem cause there's no viable replacement. If only a competent person with a spine were in his place. I mean, China & Russia doing shit? Ok, they're nuclear powers, no one can stop them. But Israel? If the west threatened to close the money faucet they'd play ball. They're all just too gullible, too chicken, or perfectly happy with the outcome. Biden blew it; I think out of incompetence more than malice, but they're functionally indistinguishable at this point.
Europe doesn't believe in free speech apparently. Ashamed to live in Mitläufer-Land and the spineless peninsula union, apparently.
The spikes of islamophobia and antisemitism all over the world
ppl trying to use this to push antisemitic conspiracy theories or hindu-nationalism, (wasn't collective punishment and category brainrot exactly the problem? I guess some are just looking for any excse to terrorize ppl)
ppl too busy for-us-or-against-us-ing celebrities and making yet another orthodoxy discourse out of it, like that won't do the opposite of convince ppl
Did I mention DEAD BABIES GALORE?? That oughta dwarf everything else, really. It's bad enough on its fucking own. There shouldn't be anything left to say. They all look like my siblings to me. But those are all alive in a warm house with food in the fridge and I' gonna see them tomorrow.... and their families won't.
entire bloodlines wiped out. Not even people left to remember them
I lived in a small village with 10 thousand inhabitants once. When I see the death toll, I picture that entire village wiped out, or multiples or fractions of it. Everyone one would interact with every day, the teachers, the neighbor's kids, the croissant lady. 'cept ppl in Gaza were so piss poor they probably ain't seen a croissant in their lives.
So this is what it's like, to see something like that happening
there are all those posts of one person after another being wiped out, families whittled down till there's nothing left
Yes, you could drag Netanyahu to the hague, and they should, but will that even matter? That won't un-kill those ppl or un-destroy the infrastructure.
Something irreversible has been done.
Something irreversible is done each time one of those lives is casually snuffed out

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Blogpost #8 OADs 3-5 The Kids Are All Right
Tumblr media
In this story the kids compete in a field test that goes awry in more ways than one, and Rimuru meets more foreign dignitaries.
Tensura Season 1 part 2 left us with three big questions: who's the human stalker, who's the demon stalker, and most importantly are the kids going to be all right? This story arc addresses the latter two questions.
The students are now healthy, but after years of trauma followed by benign neglect no one knows if they can handle themselves in everyday situations. Also, when Rimuru is gone, will they have a supportive adult ally they can turn to in times of need? An annual field trip/exercise provides an opportunity for the kids to show they can stand on their own.
A select number of classes have to make their way to a training dungeon in a neighboring kingdom, where the first class to reach the target wins a prize. Rimuru kits them out with top quality gear, including his newest invention the DnD equivalent of a campervan; and hands them over to a sympathetic teacher to proctor.
Thanks to the campervan and their own skill and enthusiasm, Rimuru's students arrive first, impressing their proctor. Alas, the attention of their host has been occupied by his gravely ill wife, and kidnappers are hiding in the test dungeon. They try to capture the students, who easily defeat them, really impressing the proctor. But the leader turns out to be a minor demon in disguise, working on what appears to be some long-term grudge with the regional church. He knocks out the kids and is about to destroy them when the proctor sends out a desperate cry for help.
Her plea is answered by Shizue's demon buddy, who wants to pay off his debt to the dead Shizue by saving her students. He easily dispatches the minor demon, arranges a cover story, and threatens to eat the proctor if she reveals his involvement.
Later, after the others have arrived and caught up on recent events, Rimuru learns that the kidnappers stole and used a healing potion meant for the sick lady. He offers to replace it, only to find out that his host wasn't even sure it would work. His internal sprite informs him that healing potions need to be applied directly to the afflicted area, or the shock produced from a misapplied potion could prove lethal to a sickly individual. Rimuru asks to examine the lady, and with the help of his internal sprite, invents surgery to cure her, earning a ton of local brownie points to boot.
In the process we meet some people, do some light world-building, find out that Shizue's demon buddy has a sense of moral accountancy (the foundation of an understanding of morality), and most importantly take the measure of the students. It looks like they'll be able to handle themselves in most situations and they've made a sympathetic adult ally to help them should they need it.
As far as mid-century references go, we've got two this time -- campervans and internal medicine/surgery. While motorized campers and car-drawn trailers had been around since before WWII, they were built on heavier commercial truck frames. In the late 1940s Volkswagen developed lighter steel bodies for private vehicles and produced the first campervans (aka van, bus, or microbus, depending on the market) in 1950. I couldn't find a specific reference to camping in 1950s Japan, but countryside vacations have been popular in China and Japan for centuries (The classical Chinese/Japanese garden is supposed to be a miniature recreation of a favorite woodland vacation spot.) and modern Japan is known for its plentiful accomodations for campers, so it would make sense if there was an uptick in camping in the mid-century.
The other reference was to internal medicine and it's offshoot surgery. Traditionally Asian doctors considered poking around inside the human body to be far too dangerous, and with good reason. It took Western medicine 500 years of patient, gruesome, frequently unethical, and often illegal work to get the crudest idea of what was going on inside the body. Even with that knowledge, surgery only became reasonably safe and reliable in the 20th century thanks to a quartet of late 19th century inventions: anesthesia (1846), antiseptics (1867), the sterile operating room (1884), and X-ray photographs (1895).
While some Japanese physicians had begun to receive Western training as early as the 1830s, it was very expensive to travel to Europe to study it. After WWII, an American physician serving in Japan (whose name I forgot to write down and can't find now) raised money to send dozens of young Japanese doctors to study surgery in America, improving the availability of trained surgeons in Japan.
(That said, considering the strictures Rimuru's sprite gave, it seems a long-needled hypodermic would be more useful for delivering a dose of healing potion in the story than a scalpel. And neither delivery method would work against something like a small-cell cancer, especially leukemia.)
And that's all the OADs. Now I can start on Season 2!

Airlines — How To Humble Humanity
Tumblr media
I’m not usually a conspiracy theorist. The only conspiracies I believe in are those where the reason for the conspiracy is incompetence. The moon landing was fake? No, no, no, that involves too many people competently keeping a secret. The Earth is flat? No, that would involve too many people being involved in competently manipulating things we use in day to day life — time zones, air travel, weather mapping etc. I can, however, fully get wild conspiracies that involves humans being dumb and making mistakes that have catastrophic consequences. Or theories that are driven by capitalism or greed…
The Dalai Lama pulls a 6 figure salary from the US government just to piss off China? I Believe it. Canada tried to develop a way to detect gay people? I’m all on board with believing that. The US collected dead babies to test nuclear fallout on? Sombre, but I’m all for that.In a world where truth is subjective, I hold one belief true to my heart. I hold with full conviction that I completely believe that airlines have completely made up the fact that airline food tastes bad because of the difference in humidity in an airplane. It is absolute bullshit and that theory gets floated around time and time again. I fully believe it is men in suits that have spent a lot of money on a PR campaign to make the world believe that this is the case, in order to cut costs and serve us shit airline food.
Tumblr media
There must have been a boardroom meeting of people in smart casual, sipping starbucks brainstorming ideas on how to save money, and some intern came up with this stupid idea and they just rolled with it, and it has saved them tonnes of money. It’s actually aggravating to assume that this is how many of the worlds worst capitalist decisions are made.
I have actually had good airline food on some international flights. Flavours and tastes that dance on your tongue as you wash it down with some of the duty free’s finest bubbly. And I have also had some absolute garbage meals, on some of the low cost carriers. My sample size is limited, but I fully expect a public apology from the airlines for leading us astray like this. Just own up to the fact the profit margins are razor thin, and you need to cut costs.
Twenty years down the line we are going to get a check in the mail for $20 dollars because we are unsuspectingly part of some class action lawsuit where the airlines have been found out.
And I am all for it.

i remember someone said something like 'people complain about americans talking about american problems on american social media' and people even commenting 'they should make their own local websites and discuss their problems there'.
there's no such thing as 'american social media' it's all global by design. 'local' social media stand no chance against facebook twitter etc BY DESIGN. they can't compete unless your user base is very disconnected from 'western' internet (russia china etc. who have their own big social networks). and even then you have to understand that often 'local' social media are either uncomfortable or dangerous to use. and generally people tend to just learn english and go to american social media to get access to more resources.
people around the world are specifically funneled to contribute to the content stream of 'american'. what western industry does affects everyone because most people pursue the goal of working in american/west european industries if they ever hope to make a living.
let's take animation. there's no animation industry in most countries, or I guess there's just an inception of it but it's extremely undeveloped and basically held up by the government or on the backs of spirited people doing indie art. brain drain yeah you know it.
here, there's no reason to go to art school because it's so lacking and behind the global standards. in some countries animation isn't even a course you can take. and let's say you taught yourself animation.
you can either work for whatever govt project was ordered (if there is any), do indie, or, if you want to actually make a living, pursue studying at a eu/us uni and get a job there (or do freelance for western clients). and in countries where you CAN get an animation job you will still be making things for american studios as outsource. and for worse pay with worse conditions too.
if you want to contribute to the building of an industry in your country you basically need insane resources and money. because why would anyone work local if there's better pay in the west. you can maybe go work in the west, save up money, and then invest into your own industry. or try to get to the top in the west and create projects that pay tribute to your culture and help other people from your country get into 'the industry' but then again you're contributing to american media and not your own.
basically you either work indie, try to get government money (which in some countries is extremely scarce and will not go to the arts), or do nothing at all. we have to be realistic

EMS and ODM, Global Market Size Forecast, Top 8 Players Rank and Market Share
EMS and ODM Market Summary
Electronics manufacturing services (EMS) is a term used for companies that test, manufacture, distribute, and provide return/repair services for electronic components and assemblies for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The concept is also referred to as electronics contract manufacturing (ECM).
An original design manufacturer (ODM) is a company that designs and manufactures a product as specified and eventually rebranded by another firm for sale. Such companies allow the firm that owns or licenses the Company to produce products (either as a supplement or solely) without having to engage in the organization or running of a factory.
According to the new market research report “Global EMS and ODM Market Report 2023-2029”, published by QYResearch, the global EMS and ODM market size is projected to reach USD 855210 million by 2029, at a CAGR of 4.1% during the forecast period.
Tumblr media
Figure.   Global EMS and ODM Market Size (US$ Million), 2018-2029
Tumblr media
Based on or includes research from QYResearch: Global EMS and ODM Market Report 2023-2029.
Market Trends:
In a short period of time, markets and consumers’ behaviours have undergone drastic changes due to the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19). From people raiding grocery store aisles to the cancelation of the world’s most significant events and mandates for “non-essential” businesses to temporarily close, this pandemic is having a substantial impact on the economy and society as we knew it.
1. Despite all of the negatives that have come from the COVID-19 pandemic, it has led to several positive outcomes. For example if your product or service can be marketed to coronavirus patients, it is most likely doing well. With the development of the epidemic, there will still be considerable development in the medical industry in 2021.
2. Most of the traditional EMS centres in Southeast Asia will see above trend growth from 2021 – 2025 in response to both trade tensions, and real and perceived excess concentration of manufacturing in China by some leading western OEMs.
3. Over the next 5 years, a number of low-cost Asian countries will see new investments in their nascent tech manufacturing industries.   This likely includes Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Bangladesh.   Much of this investment will be based on the size of existing labor force, as well as growth rates of the labor force and the burgeoning local consumer markets.  EMS and ODM companies from Foxconn to Flex realize that these large investments in new manufacturing centers often take 15 years or more before they really become a competitive force at meaningful scale.
4. A new breed of mid-sized, China based/China only EMS providers will find their wings and expand outside of China to compete with larger multi-national EMS providers from Taiwan and the US.
Market Drivers:
The key driver for the electronics contract manufacturing industry (EMS and ODM) is costs.
High-volume manufacturing in the form of EMS / ODM can be attracted to countries by offering low-cost labor and availability of components
The critical success factors for an EMS / ODM model able to offer real outsourcing cost reductions and benefits that actually help OEMs reduce costs and save money, include:
Low cost geographic destinations
Component costs
Intellectual property (IP) protection
Government tax incentives

Chapter 3. Economy
Meeting our needs without keeping count
Capitalism has produced some amazing gadgets, but the military and the police are almost always the first to use new technologies, and often the wealthiest people are the only ones who benefit from them. Capitalism has produced undreamed of wealth, but it is hoarded by parasites who did not produce it and who lord over the slaves and wage laborers who created it. Competition may seem to be a useful principle for encouraging efficiency — but efficiency for what purpose? Beneath the mythology it has created, capitalism is not actually a competitive system. Workers are divided and played against each other, while the elite cooperate to maintain their subjection. The wealthy may compete for bigger slices of the pie, but they regularly take up arms together to ensure that every day the pie is baked and brought to their table. When capitalism was still a new phenomenon, one could describe it more honestly, without being confused by decades of propaganda about its supposed virtues: Abraham Lincoln, hardly an anarchist, could see clearly enough that “capitalists generally act harmoniously and in concert to fleece the people.”
Capitalism has failed horribly at meeting people’s needs and arranging a fair distribution of goods. Throughout the world, millions die from treatable diseases because they cannot afford the medicine that would save them, and people starve to death while their countries export cash crops. Under capitalism, everything is for sale — culture is a commodity that can be manipulated to sell lingerie or skin cream, nature is a resource to be sucked dry and destroyed for profit. People must sell their time and energy to the owning class in order to buy back a fraction of what they produce. This is a deeply rooted system that shapes our values and relationships and defies most attempts to abolish it. The socialist revolutions in the USSR and China did not go deep enough: as they never fully abolished capitalism, it reemerged, stronger than before. Many anarchist attempts have not gone deep enough either; capitalism may well have resurfaced in these experiments if hostile governments had not crushed them first.
Power and alienation must be pursued to their roots. It is not enough for the workers to own their factories collectively if they are controlled by managers and the work still reduces them to machines. Alienation is not simply the absence of legal ownership of the means and fruits of production — it is the lack of control over one’s relationship with the world. Worker ownership of a factory is meaningless if it is still administered by others on their behalf. The workers must organize themselves and control the factory directly. And even if they control the factory directly, alienation persists where the broader economic relationships, the factory itself, dictates the form their labor takes. Can a person truly be free working on an assembly line, denied creativity and treated as a machine? The form of work itself must change, so that people can pursue the skills and activities that give them joy.
The separation of work from other human activities is one of the roots of alienation. Production itself becomes a sort of obsession that justifies exploiting people or destroying the environment for the sake of efficiency. If we view happiness as a human need no less than food and clothing, then the division between productive and nonproductive activity, between work and play, melts away. The squatting movement in Barcelona and the gift economies of many indigenous societies provide examples of the blurring of work and play.
In a free society, exchange is simply a symbolic assurance that everyone is contributing to the common resources — people don’t hoard resources or take advantage of others, because they have to give in order to receive. But exchange can present problems by attaching a quantitative value to every object and experience, thus stripping them of their subjective value.
Where once an ice cream cone was worth a delicious ten minutes of finger licking goodness in the sun, and a book was worth several afternoons of enjoyment and reflection and possibly even life-changing insight, after these goods are assessed according to the regime of exchange, an ice cream cone is worth a fourth of a book. Further into this process, to make the exchanges more efficient, while consequently fixing the quantitative value as inherent rather than comparative, an ice cream cone is worth one unit of currency and a book four units of currency. The monetary value replaces the subjective value of the object — the pleasure people find in it. On one hand, people and their desires are taken out of the equation, while on the other hand all values — pleasure, usefulness, inspiration — are absorbed into a quantitative value, and money itself becomes a symbol for all these other values.
In effect, possessing money comes to symbolize having access to enjoyment or the fulfillment of a desire; but money, by affixing a quantitative value, robs objects of the sense of fulfillment they might bring, because humans cannot experience quantitative, abstract value. In eating an ice cream cone, the pleasure is in the act — but in buying a commodity, the pleasure is in the purchase, in the magical moment that an abstract value is transformed into a tangible possession. Money exerts such a powerful influence on notions of value that consumption itself is always anticlimactic: once the commodity is purchased, it loses its value, especially as people come to prioritize abstract value over subjective value. Furthermore, having purchased it, you lose money, and your total holdings of symbolic value decrease — hence the nagging feeling of guilt that accompanies spending money.
In addition to alienation, exchange creates power-over: if one person accumulates more quantitative value, they have accrued the right to a greater portion of the community’s resources. Systems of exchange and currency, like the barter network in Argentina or the coupon system for purchasing goods in parts of anarchist Spain, rely on customs and social arrangements to prevent the reemergence of capitalism. For example, a gift economy could function at a local level, with exchange used only for regional trade. People could deliberately set up work environments that encourage personal development, creativity, fun, and self-organization, while decentralized federations of such workplaces could award one another with coupons for the goods they produce so each person has access to the wealth created by all.
But it is a worthwhile challenge to do away with exchange and currency altogether. Within free stores or Freecycle, the symbolic assurance provided by exchange or barter is unnecessary. The assurance that everyone will contribute to the common wealth springs from the culture of the spaces themselves. As a participant, you express the desire to give and to receive, and your inclusion in the social space increases as you carry out both of these activities. In such contexts, giving pleases a person just as much as receiving.
The world is bountiful enough to provide for everyone’s needs. Scarcity is a dangerous illusion that functions as a self-fulfilling prophesy. Once people stop giving and begin hoarding, collective wealth declines. If we overcome the fear of scarcity, scarcity itself disappears. Common resources will be bountiful if everyone shares and contributes, or even if most people do. People like to be active, to create and improve things. If people are ensured access to common resources and spared the poverty of wage slavery, they will create plenty of the things they need and that give them pleasure, as well as the infrastructure required to make and distribute these things.

Breathalyzers Market is Estimated to Witness High Growth Owing to Increasing Road Safety Regulations
Tumblr media
Breathalyzers are handheld devices that are used to detect and measure the alcohol content in human breath. They are widely used by law enforcement agencies and individuals to determine alcohol intoxication levels in people to curb drunk driving and ensure road safety. Breathalyzers provide quick and accurate results within seconds. The need to promote safety on roads by regulating drunk driving through strict laws has increased the demand for breathalyzers across the world.
The global Breathalyzers market is estimated to be valued at US$ 10.6 Bn in 2023 and is expected to exhibit a CAGR of 18% over the forecast period 2023 to 2030, as highlighted in a new report published by Coherent Market Insights. Market Opportunity: The rising number of road accidents due to drunk driving and increasing enforcement of legal alcohol limits is projected to present lucrative opportunities for players operating in the breathalyzers market. According to the World Health Organization, it is estimated that annually, around 300,000 people die due to road accidents globally. Strict enforcement of drink-drive limits along with severe penalties for offenders can positively influence market growth. Many regions have imposed a 0% blood alcohol concentration limit for drivers, which has increased adoption of breathalyzers among police departments as well for evidential use during prosecutions. As governments emphasize reforming laws to save lives and lower road crash costs, the market demand for breathalyzers is expected to surge over the forecast period. Porter's Analysis Threat of new entrants: The threat of new entrants is moderate as the breathalyzers market is consolidated. However, technological advancements provide opportunities for new players. Bargaining power of buyers: The bargaining power of buyers is high as breathalyzers are indispensable for law enforcement agencies. Buyers can negotiate on price and demand additional features. Bargaining power of suppliers: A few suppliers dominate the breathalyzers component market. This gives them significant bargaining power over players in the breathalyzers market. Threat of new substitutes: There are no close substitutes for breathalyzers used in law enforcement. Alternative technologies cannot match breathalyzers accuracy and reliability. Competitive rivalry: The competitive rivalry is high due to technological innovation and consolidation in the market. Players compete on product features, pricing, and quality. SWOT Analysis Strengths: Breathalyzers offer instant, non-invasive, and accurate results. Technological advances lead to portable, evidential-grade devices. Weaknesses: High costs affect sales in price-sensitive markets. Periodic maintenance and calibration needed. Results accuracy depends on user operation. Opportunities: Integration of advanced sensors enhances capabilities. Growing alcohol detection needs from law enforcement and enterprises present an opportunity. Threats: Stringent regulations and certification standards increase compliance costs. Economic slowdowns can delay equipment upgradation. Key Takeaways The global breathalyzers market is expected to witness high growth driven by stricter drunk driving laws worldwide.
Regional analysis indicates the Asia Pacific region is anticipated to grow at the fastest pace during the forecast period. Rapid motorization and increasing alcohol consumption in China, India, and other developing economies increases the need for accurate breathalyzers. All You Need to Know About Importing Sofas, Beds and Other Upholstered Furniture From China
The main reason of Importing furniture from China is the price advantage. Furniture made in China is known for its good quality and low price, which enables it to offer competitive prices to consumers and furniture retailers worldwide. Chinese products are reasonably priced, of good quality, and available through various supply channels. To meet multiple styles and needs, China local furniture production is vital. Whether modern and minimalist, classic and vintage, solid wood or artificial panels, small and delicate or luxurious and grand, you can find better quality products in China. With well-established supply chains, low labour costs and excellent production technology, China furniture companies have a considerable advantage in global trade. During the pandemic, the furniture export market realized rapid growth.
Tumblr media
8 characteristics of China’s furniture exporting industry
1. Under the leadership of large enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises and their related industries are gradually developing in the direction of modernization, systematization and branding.
2. Cluster industrial layout formed by the regional economy with local characteristics, giving full play to the advantages of local resources and promoting the development of the regional economy. For example, the Zhejiang Haining sofa fully uses local leather garment resources and market advantage, which developed into an economy worth 200 million yuan.
3.Products have significant advantages in the following aspects: diversified functions, rich product types and market positioning, and different categories of products to choose from, such as laboratory furniture, bathroom furniture, children’s furniture and elderly furniture. In addition, we use new materials and natural stone to produce furniture.
4. The industrial layout of enterprises has become more specialized and gradient. They have changed the past development mode of constantly expanding the scale of production, but further subdivided and specialized their products, and further subdivided the various links of the industrial chain, showing a gradually increasing trend of gradient.
5. The furniture industry is highly competitive, and capital from other sectors is flowing into the decoration industry again, resulting in small enterprises, disordered management and chaos.
6. The export furniture from China are mainly concentrated in the low-end market so that profitability could be more robust.
7.Lack of innovation and homogenization is a severe problem.
8.The mainstream mode is OEM production, but there is a need for independent brands.
Tumblr media
Why import furniture from China?
Previously, “Made in China” was often associated with cheap and low-quality products. But this is no longer the case. China’s rise as a manufacturing powerhouse and strict quality control measures have ensured that products made in China can easily compete with those made in the West. This development has made upholestery furniture such as sofas, beds, tables and chairs imported from China an attractive option.
There are several advantages to importing furniture products from China, such as sofas and beds. First, these furniture products offer diverse options, advanced manufacturing processes, and excellent raw material supply facilities, so furniture dealers and agents can find the perfect combination to meet various unique needs. Secondly, China’s low labour costs for furniture processing and very high furniture production levels provide:
Significant cost savings and economies of scale.
Allowing furniture dealers to make substantial savings on furniture products.
An advantage that should be noticed.
As one of the world’s largest furniture producers and exporters, China has abundant raw material resources and cheap and skilled labour. This enables China furniture manufacturers to produce high-quality furniture at relatively low production costs. At the same time, China’s furniture manufacturing industry is experienced and has advanced production technology and equipment to ensure the quality and craftsmanship of its products.
In addition, the furniture market in China is highly competitive, and furniture manufacturers are constantly improving the quality of their products and design innovations to win consumers’ favour. Furniture dealers can work with furniture manufacturers in China to obtain high-quality and reasonably priced products to improve sales and customer satisfaction.
In summary, the opportunity for China to provide high-quality furniture at reasonable production costs benefits both furniture dealers and consumers.
1. Imported furniture from China offers significant cost efficiencies in the furniture industry. Compared to other countries,  furniture made in China has a significant price advantage in labour and raw materials, resulting in lower prices. This enables furniture dealers and agents to purchase products at lower prices, increasing profit margins.
2. Diversified options for choosing furniture: Whether you want to buy modern sofas or traditional furniture or choose furniture with a minimalist aesthetic or post-modern style, China furniture manufacturers can meet your purchasing needs. For example, Rayleigh Furniture can provide furniture dealers with a large selection of upholstered furniture such as sofas, beds, tables and chairs, and the style of the furniture should be adapted to a variety of different materials such as wood, metal, plastic, etc., so that you can sell the table in the furniture showroom and allow customers to choose the product that suits their needs and décor style according to their preferences. This diversity of furniture can meet the needs of different markets, tastes and preferences.
3. Furniture customization: many China furniture manufacturers provide furniture customization services to meet the needs of specific projects. rayleigh Furniture provides customized furniture services, such as customized sofas according to the needs of the local furniture market, to meet the needs of local customers and gain a competitive advantage over other furniture dealers and agents, helping them to provide high-quality customer service and promote the development of the furniture agency market.
4. Reliable Furniture Supply: China furniture manufacturers attach great importance to the quality and reliability of their products. Many China furniture manufacturers have passed international quality certifications such as ISO and Standard 9001 to ensure their products meet standards and fulfil customer expectations. Through rigorous quality testing, China sofa factory ensure that their furniture will withstand prolonged use and wear and tear. While the reputation of made-in-China products may be susceptible to quality issues, leading manufacturers nowadays pay close attention to product quality and durability. They typically meet or exceed national standards and offer rigorously tested products that can withstand the rigours of commercial use. In addition, Chinese furniture manufacturers often offer long-term after-sales service and support to help their furniture dealers and agents provide after-sales service to local customers, giving consumers greater peace of mind when making their purchases.
5. Excellent furniture production process: China’s manufacturing industry is a craftsmanship leader, which also applies to sofa manufacturing. Chair sofas made in China usually utilize advanced production techniques and equipment to ensure the quality and durability of the products. According to the World Bank, China is the largest furniture manufacturing country in the world, with its manufacturing value added exceeding 28% of the world’s total. This indicates that China has significantly developed its manufacturing technology and production. In addition, China has a long tradition of craftsmanship. Many sofas made in China still utilize traditional craftsmanship techniques such as hand carving and weaving to showcase the unique aesthetics of traditional Chinese craftsmanship.
There are many factors to consider when importing furniture from China. The first is quality, which ensures that the furniture you choose is of good quality, uses furniture materials that comply with regulations and has undergone qualified testing and certification—Second is price. Depending on the type and specifications of the furniture required, you need to compare the prices of different suppliers and choose the one that meets your budget. In addition, the supplier’s reputation and service level must be considered. Choose a supplier with a good reputation and professionalism to ensure on-time delivery and after-sales service. Finally, it would help if you also considered the transportation and customs clearance procedures, chose the suitable transportation method, and understood the customs clearance process and related costs in advance. Considering all these factors, you can better select and import Chinese furniture that suits your needs.
When you want to import furniture in China, it is more complex than your local customers going to your furniture showroom or online furniture sales store to buy. Importing furniture requires attention to several factors, such as choosing a reliable furniture dealer, paying attention to the quality standards of the table, understanding China’s furniture export customs clearance and export procedures, and aspects of furniture shipping and transportation.
Tumblr media
Choosing a Reliable Furniture Supplier
Choosing a reliable furniture dealer or reseller is very important; you should be keenly aware of this. When selecting a furniture dealer in China, it is essential to assess their production capacity, product quality, and adherence to supply schedules. If you choose a reputable furniture dealer, they will be able to deliver the furniture on time with urgent delivery schedule requirements so that you will have no worries about the quality of the furniture products. At the same time, they will also be able to provide timely deliveries to your furniture showroom or online furniture sales store within an adequate time frame to improve the time efficiency of deliveries. Rayleigh Furniture will provide you with detailed guidance on how to choose a reliable furniture dealer.
Setting Quality Standards for Furniture
Although we may have wrongly assumed in the past that Chinese products are not of high quality, the reality is that China has made great strides in improving the quality of its products. Many of the world’s top brands have their products manufactured in China. China furniture producers offer a wide selection of products, ranging from high-end to budget. It is essential to determine your actual quality standards. It would help if you chose to test product samples, visit factories or hire a third-party inspection service to ensure quality and quantity issues.
The export customs clearance and export procedure for furniture from China includes the following steps:
Furniture exporters must make customs declarations at the China customs office to ensure that all exported tables comply with relevant regulations and standards. After that, the goods must be supervised and inspected to ensure their safety and quality.
Furniture Exporters must apply for licenses and other related procedures to ensure legal export.
Furniture Exporters can choose the appropriate mode of transportation for the export of furniture, such as sea, air or land transport, as needed.
Tumblr media
The entire export process must be operated in a compliant manner and follow international trade rules and regulations.
When importing furniture from China, it is critical to comply with the law and regulations, go through the process of exporting furniture and submit a series of documents required by the relevant government authorities. Furniture export documentation must comply with local laws and regulations and can be requested by the manufacturer. It can only be helped if the furniture manufacturer works with a furniture producer with international trade experience. For example, Rayleigh Furniture is a furniture factory with 30 years of experience exporting upholestery furniture such as sofas, beds, tables, chairs, etc. It is very familiar with furniture export customs clearance procedures, enabling it to complete them accurately and quickly.
Furniture transportation and logistics refers to transporting furniture from the place of production or sale to the consumer. This process includes packaging, handling, transportation, warehousing and distribution of furniture. Furniture transportation and logistics require consideration of factors such as safety, efficiency and cost of the vehicle to ensure that the table reaches the consumer quickly and safely. At the same time, the transportation and logistics of furniture also need to consider sustainable development factors such as space utilization, energy conservation and environmental pollution reduction to reduce the environmental impact.
As a large-scale export commodity, furniture packaging is crucial to customers. Furniture is enormous, and reasonable packaging can accommodate more sofas in the container, thus reducing transportation costs and increasing the profitability of furniture dealers. Therefore, when introducing furniture, reasonable furniture packaging is vital for furniture agents.
Tariffs and Taxes Imposed on Imported Furniture in China
When importing furniture, there is no way to avoid the imposition of duty-free taxes and import duties. Understanding factors such as seaport costs, import duties, and VAT is essential when importing goods from China. Different countries have their procedures for setting import duty rates. Let us consider the case of importing goods from China to any country in Europe. While importing goods from a non-EU country, China, all EU member states levy the same tax rates. The buyer is responsible for customs expenses. For import tax rates, consult your local customs agent’s customs clearance company or visit the official government customs website. If you need help, contact Rayleigh Furniture and ask our marketing director for assistance.

Christianity is great but it lands ppl in very high psy-op jobs or gov positions that cost ppl in taxes. My issue is the government takes 30% of non-Christian’s money and Christian’s use those taxes to fund their Christianity complex goals. We already funded them enough. The number for my church was 1.25 million and they didn’t say the rest of theirs complexes earnings. I’ve never seen an Apple computer in their labs as well but hope they use it properly. Overall Christianity takes 60% profit of hardworking ppl and we can’t allow that group to be running around preaching Jesus saves when it’s only them getting the benefits and working as gov agents. We will be disbanding from the religious crowd bc our goals don’t align with theirs and Apple cannot support a 60% economic loss. We will be merging with the financial sectors of China, and present one’s in the US, and personal air flight and vehicle travel divisions of Germany, and China instead. I have made two new partnerships of which they can decide which sectors will be influenced the most however Irene told me that her net worth was above 2.5 million so she ultimately has the option to file any ideas she likes but has to sign an NDA with me that doesn’t include Apple as the brand to make any of them. We will not be competing against Apple up until the year 2025 and our gift to them is two more years of marketing if they don’t file any lawsuits til 2030. Rally 7.0 focuses on the Jetsons, and I think people are going to feel like Steve is here with us however it is the apocalypse in disguise bc even in the Bible Valhalla was the point of battle for the valkyries, and it won’t lead to a recession, it is the massacre of the governments around the world. Rally 6.0 is the financial renaissance through kpop guidance by Aespa. And that is currently in play. Karina doesn’t seem to agree with the religious part but over time I think she will.
