Now getting hit with the realization that if I said "November 5th is my favorite Holiday" to a normal person they'd think I was really into the day a guy tried to blow up Parliament despite not being from England. But no, this is just the anniversary of the day my favorite ship went canon in the best and worst way possible during the third day of the US election while rumors of Putin retiring flooded the internet.

Trump: Illegals are murdering innocent Americans, we need to shut down the border immediately!
Liberals: OMG how dare this racist Republican make our glorious nation look bad! #VoteBlueNoMatterWho #DumpTrump #DonaldDrumpf #Covfefe
Biden: Illegals are murdering innocent Americans, we need to shut down the border immediately!
Liberals: Actually, if you leftists would look past your biases and purity tests, you would realize that Biden has to call them illegals and push for harsh border controls, because that's just politics! It's called compromise! Do you want Trump to win?

From the article:
Six weeks ago, Democrats frustrated with President Joe Biden’s unwavering support for Israel felt voiceless. But a new ballot movement that started in one of the nation’s tiniest states could explode across the country on Super Tuesday. In January, New Hampshire activists urged the state’s Democratic voters to write in “ceasefire” on their primary ballots. But the last-minute organizing—put together the weekend before—was still enough to garner 1% of the vote. Given more time, a similar campaign in Michigan reaped benefits ten-fold, with over 100,000 people ticking “uncommitted,” 13% of the vote. Now, efforts are underway all over the country, including in Super Tuesday states Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, and California. In the absence of a realistic primary opponent and aware they can’t stop Biden, voters have found a unique way to challenge the Democratic party line toward the genocide in Palestine. Since Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel that killed 1,200, over 30,000 Palestinians have died. Picking ceasefire and uncommitted has become the way for Democrats who oppose Biden’s unfettered support for Israel to not endorse it with their own votes, refusing to be complicit in the war.

I just found out about Jasmine Sherman and they look really cool. Like, the policies that they say they’re going to do? The fact that they have an audiobook option for people to listen to what the policies say on their platform? (If people don’t have JAWS or screen readers on their devices, JAWS for computers.) I really hope they get far enough in the presidential race.

It's time to actually put the people in America first. We do that by meeting everyone's basic human needs. This includes guaranteed housing, universal healthcare and education, UBI, and environmental/infrastructure reform. In doing this, we give people a fighting chance to create a more sustainable model for society that ensures the general welfare of people within our borders for generations to come.
1) Housing- Decommodify housing and eliminate rent, mortgages and property taxes 2) Healthcare- 100% coverage including vision and dental 3) Education- universal education up to and including doctorate level studies 4) UBI-a monthly disbursement based on the cost of living in a resident's state 5) Environment/Infrastructure reform- Abating the damage caused by climate change through sustainable development and creating an infrastructure that fosters community
The Jasmine Sherman for President campaign envisions organizing through various strategies. They aim to leverage social media and technological advancements for rapid outreach to a wider audience. Direct action and mutual aid will be prioritized to attract like-minded individuals and build a strong support base. The campaign will also focus on nurturing relationships established through past coalition-building efforts, aiming to strengthen connections and amplify the campaign's impact. By combining these approaches, Jasmine Sherman's campaign aims to effectively engage, mobilize, and expand its reach in pursuit of its organizing goals

They seem like a very good candidate and I hadn't heard of them before, tysm for bringing them to my attention!
Looks like the Green Party has ballot access in 46 states as well! Additionally, The Green Party will host a primary debate on May 11th. Definitely something to pay attention to!

Do you think that if Israel came out and admitted they murdered the World Central Kitchen workers on purpose that anything would change?
That Biden would stop sending weapons? That they'd be slammed in the media? That everyone who's stayed silent so far would speak out?
Of course not. I don't know why they bother to lie anymore, there's not anything they could do that would stop the support. We've seen this.

My hobby at the moment is checking on Nikki Haley because she's a huge nuisance for Trump despite being in the same party because she just refuses to give up her campaign despite comically losing all the time (go girl give us nothing).
Unfortunately now I'm convinced I could fix her.

Which party will control Congress Houses after the 2024 US Federal Election? [Late March 2024]
I will be running a series of polls on Tumblr's predicted US election outcomes throughout 2024; this is the first round. The two houses are the House of Representatives (apportioned relative to state populations) and the Senate (apportioned two representatives per state).
Please reblog for sample size!

im an american and things arent getting any better here
its an election year and we don’t have a pro-palestine candidate. we have the 2 geezers going to a rematch. they’re both zionists. biden is supporting netanyahu, he didn’t say anything about aaron bushnell immolating itself. trump says he wants israel to quote unquote, ‘finish the job.’ someone had the flag of israel hanging at a polling place and a bunch of old democrats spazzed out when some activists tried to bring awareness to the genocide
yeah ik. ‘vote for the lesser evil’ and all that. i want to believe that biden is the better candidate, but only because he can be pressured. only because he wasn’t trying to overthrow the government. but idk. biden and his supporters arent taking the genocide seriously. like fuck
someone explain to me like. why is it so hard to even talk about this???

A heads up to my fellow americans on here that the democratic primaries in many states have an "uncommitted delegates" option that you can choose instead of Biden, and it's being used as a way to show the administration your opposition to the genocide in Palestine rn.
It's an excellent form of protest vote: it doesn't materially hand anything to Republicans, but it does make the Democrats fully fucking aware that a very large portion of their base is very dissatisfied, and may not vote for them in the future.
In Michigan, the "uncommitted delegates" got about 13% of the vote (as of rn, with not all precincts reporting) and it was such a big deal the Washington Post reported on it in the same headline as Biden's win, so it really does make a big fucking statement. If your state's primary is coming up and you're reluctant to vote for genocide Joe, I encourage you to, rather than sitting this one out, go to the polls and make your voice heard.

From the article:
Michigan was where the protest vote movement first emerged during the nominating race. Pro-Palestinian organizers in the state, which has a sizable population of people of Middle Eastern and North African descent, urged voters to cast uncommitted in a rebuke of Biden's support of Israel's campaign against Hamas fighters in Gaza, where tens of thousands of people have been killed so far, according to the Hamas-run health ministry there. The war was sparked by Hamas' Oct. 7 terror attack. "In a democracy you are told when things are not going right, you use the ballot box to send your message," Michigan state Rep. Abraham Aiyash, who supported the uncommitted movement, has said. Approximately 101,000 votes were cast for uncommitted in Michigan in late February, about 13% of the total and enough to win two delegates, according to ABC News' count and estimate. "Our message has been clear," a strategist and spokesperson for Listen to Michigan, one of the groups behind the uncommitted campaign, said after the vote. Reacting to those results, a senior Biden campaign adviser previously said in a statement to ABC Chief White House Correspondent Mary Bruce that "we understand that it's an emotional, painful, difficult situation for a lot of people. President Biden shares the goal of many of the folks who voted uncommitted, which is an end to the violence and a just and lasting peace. That is what he is working towards." Uncommitted organizers said after Michigan that advocates from Minnesota and Washington state had reached out, seeking support for similar efforts in their states, which also allow uncommitted to be on the ballot. Minnesota, another state with notable Muslim and Arab American voters, held its Democratic primary on Super Tuesday and uncommitted got about 46,000 votes, or 19% of the total, receiving an estimated 11 delegates per ABC News' tracking.

"There is a small panel of regulators in every state that holds a similar power over electricity generation and, by extension, an enormous segment of the United States’ greenhouse gas emissions that are warming the planet. By setting electricity prices, they also have a substantial impact on most people’s lives and pocketbooks. Yet, in Georgia and elsewhere, these groups — known as public service or public utility commissions — get little attention or scrutiny outside of energy wonk circles. Their hearings and documents tend to be long and jargon-heavy, covered in the media by a small group of specialized reporters, making it hard to engage with the process.
This year, Grist and WABE will try to demystify energy regulation in Georgia and beyond. We’ll bring you stories on not only how your power gets made, but how those decisions happen — and how residents who vote and pay electricity bills can get involved."
-via Grist, March 5, 2024. See link for more details (especially in Georgia) and more ways to get involved.
