Ah, Pastoria, truly a marvel that the stranger remembered with fondness. Sitting amidst the nigh-on flood of a rain, only protected by their grey umbrella they'd found themself merely enjoying the area near the safari zone entrance. The pokemon that passed nearby would regard them with a glance, but dared not stare for any longer.

There was a sense of beauty amidst the powerful drum of the rain. It communicated a sense of calm to their ears, as though static that crept into their mind to cause some sort of soothing idleness.

Their melancholy was interrupted when a young woman exited the safari zone, visibly trying to find shelter to save her from the violent rains that were already soaking her clothes and hair.

"My," they muttered to themself. "Someone's not been quite well prepared, hm?"

Swift and almost noiselessly they stood from the bench they'd accupied, their long, black braid strangely dry despite its occassional dips out from underneath the umbrellar they held. By means of quick steps they caught up to the young woman before she managed to escape out of sight and held their umbrella over her.

"Oh, don't worry about me." they exclaimed when she starts to try and find an excuse. Taking care that a comfortable enough distance remained, they entered the somewhat large umbrella alongside her, giving her a warm smile.

"I saw you exit the Safari Zone in a hurry. What's a large umbrella good for, if only used for one?" They chuckled, a sound like gentle windchimes from a little further away, almost drowned out by the volume of the rain pounding the umbrella and area.

"Would you mind if I escorted you wherever you wish to go? I've nowhere to be, so it would not burden me."

So, naturally these song explores Romy's more driven side. As someone who really loves to win, and who works hard at being the best The Competition represents how her inner voice dictates that and how it's never really satisfied, whereas Don't Play No Games I Can't Win explores more the determinator aspect to her that also shows off her confidence.

So when I first imagined Romy I thought of Abra and Kelela, I like to juxtaposiiton of an excitable character really loving slow, smooth vocals. Girl Blunt is to Romy what Cherry by Rina Sawayama is to me, basically the song about your sexuality that slaps and I can imagine Romy referencing the song and confusing people because she's not really into weed. Girls, yes.

Okay, sorry they're both Teddy but hey, it's cute. Fuck Up the Friendship is pretty self explanatory, and after seeing it on Em's playlist too I love it even more. Imagine if that song came up and Romy/Teddy and Dev/Em starting sharing looks and shit, incredible. Umbrellar has a really cinematic, coming of age/ first love kind of feel in my opinion, and it's that sort of swept up kind of feeling I imagine Romy having during those charged moments with Teddy.

Okay so my playlist template had 6 songs, so to make it 12 I added two songs that I had put as Romy's faves into this new category. I imagine she was driving so she probably didn't have as much control of the aux but these are the sorts of songs she'd be like 'i like this, i bet my friends would too, hey play that'. Both very catchy and the sort of thing I imagine her tapping her fingers on the steering wheel to.

Disparate Youth is about overcoming, like the group with the fire and also about defining yourself versus allowing other which seems like something a bunch of people transitioning out of being students would be attracted to. We're All In This Together, might need to explain. I have a headcanon that after the fire Romy probably clung to comfort, soft clothes, cartoons and things like that and that's when she watched HSM and cried thinking of her friends to this song. I also imagine at some point when she was drunk or sleep deprived from studying that she confessed it to a member of the group, and they were like, what the fuck ok she's talking nonsense but she thinks it's her big secret.

These songs are fun, a little spooky and that's exactly what i'm expecting. These are a pretty fun group of 9, and being able to see what kind of haunted shenanigans are in store for them is what I'm looking forward to. I know it's not a Halloween rp but it's Aqua so, i'm shrugging that off. I Don't Really Need Those Ghosts is more of a skit/rap but hey, ghosts. And Somebody's Watching Me is so classic I had to include it as a bonus.

Dua Saleh’s “umbrellar” Is an Unapologetic Artistic Expression

Listening to Dua Saleh’s music, there is one guarantee: you haven’t heard anything like it before. You can tell the authenticity of everything the Minneapolis-based gender non-binary artist produces, from their music to the very intentional photos they posts on Instagram. There is a noted intensity, mostly dark with occasional pops of color, and Saleh’s eyes seem to look deeper than the camera lens so that, you, on the other side of the screen, feel noticed.

Having only started recording music two years ago, Saleh is a blossoming force to be reckoned with. On the notes they choose to elongate, you can hear the sultriness and maturity of their voice. Saleh’s latest single, “umbrellar,” which is the first taste of their forthcoming EP, ROSETTA, explores the complexities of sexuality and a certain alien relationship.

“umbrellar” invites you into their explosively creative oasis, both melodically and visually. Listening to the track, you find yourself enraptured by both the encapsulating streamline of thought and the underlying driving beat.  The music video is equally impressive and a unique look into Saleh’s artistic eye. 

The accompanying video features Saleh and another individual also dressed in all white amidst a forest. They dance freely, but are simultaneously imprisoned by bright ribbons that tie them together and blind them from seeing anything else. From unconventional angles in front of various geometric structures, such as a hollow standing circle and a tower made out of antique radios, Saleh boldly narrates an ode to what feels like an alien love.

Currently the cover of Spotify’s curated Anti Pop playlist, Saleh embodies everything there is to love about a constantly evolving music landscape. “umbrellar” wonderfully challenges mainstream norms and is a product of unapologetic artistry.
