I love period works based on relatively recent decades that are built entirely out of the childhood nostalgia of the people making them, and as such end up being just as much time capsules of the time they were made as the time they're set.
Like. I don't know if I'm wording this right. But "show or film based on a particular decade but entirely from the real memories yet flawed nostalgia glasses of a writer who was a kid at the time" is always going to be very much a product of its time. Like. Grease and Happy Days, both set in the 50s, could only ever have been made in the 70s and early 80s. Hairspray (the original film) and Heartbeat, both set in the 60s, could only ever have been made in the late 80s and the 90s. Ashes to Ashes, set in the early 80s, could only ever have been made in the late 00s. And Turning Red, set in the early 00s, could only ever have been made in the 2020s.
Because none of those works are true accurate depictions of what those years were objectively actually like. They're true accurate depictions of what those years felt like, if you were twelve at the time.
And that's something future generations of writers are never going to be able to quite emulate in quite the same way.

being asexual is, most of the time, like "yeah, okay, this is cool, this part of me is super neat" and then, sometimes, you're among allo people who talk about sex semi-casually (and that's okay!) and you're like "wait that's a real thing that real people do, holy shit??" and you feel severely disconnected from everything and everyone

And this,
This is why real life history or real life events shouldn't be used in fandom wars because you end up with posts that are not only borderline, but downright insulting to real life people, and real life memories of events that should not be used as "gotcha" point to prop pixels!
I know the Fodlan games have a tendency to blame the victims of aggression for "starting the war" by, uh, not offering their heads and lands on a platter when an invader asks for it, but it's a game made by people who wanted to make money and sell waifu merch in a gacha!
This? This thing????
I do not want to make any calls or assumptions about how education is organised in different countries because I don't have enough clues to make a well thought post, and it has never been that blog's purpose, but what the actual fuck?
Is Poster 1 thinking about an uchronia or a real world AU where, the real world nation that lost nearly 20% of its population, had around 90% of its jewish population exterminated, especially by an ordinate system of extermination in camps, that can still be visited today as a testimony of the worst humanity can offer -
Is Poster 1 saying "imagine an AU" where where Poland started the very real WW2??? To make a point about a video game and a bunch of pixels?
Who are the Holocaust deniers, Poster 2, the so-called Mooners or the dude(tte?) who goes "Real life AU : Imagine if Poland who saw 90% of its jewish population being exerminated started the WW2 lol"?

okay wait, because i can never edit tags on poll posts and the notes on that one are like genuinely catching me off guard: do americans for real not use duvet covers? like as a rule? across the entire country? like you’re all just using random blankets or quilts and shit all the time? and then sticking a sheet between you and the blanket pile? or is this one of those “depends on where you are but obviously each regional standard is considered universal by its adherents” situations?

i'm bored so have images of locomotives i like and some short descriptions of them
1: THE FLYING BUFFERBEAM (Peckett No. 1900)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Standard gauge and only 5'9". Very short for an engine indeed! A short king.
2: BECKTON GASWORKS NO. 25
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This guy's, like, at most 8 feet tall. ALSO very short for an engine.
3: THE PLAZA LIBERTAD, ILOILO CITY ENGINE (888)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just LOOK at that funnel! It's ridiculously big and I love that. Such a fun design.
4: KCS 2037
Tumblr media
This engine's kinda sentimental to me because it was the first one I ever saw IRL, noted down the number of, and got to googling. 2037, you may not be the most impressive or unique engine out there, but you're very special to me.
Feel free to reblog with other nifty engines in the tags or something! I like looking at them!

like. my #1 advice for getting into niche genres like twee is to just. for the love of god do not just search ‘twee’ on apple music or spotify. you will not find what you’re looking for, i promise

“This is not an actor”? Your tag for Jensen’s body (specifically his chest) post? Trying to sort out what you’re….trying to say? Like his body doesn’t do something right?
catching me right after a workout while I'm puffing before I hop in the shower, so I'll answer this immediately -- friend anon, you gotta go back to art history class.
It is not a pipe; it is a picture of a pipe. What meanings you ascribe to the image and what uses you put it to happen solely to the the picture of the pipe, and whatever real pipe might have been used as an inspiration to the artist is unaffected by and will never know about the uses to which it has been put.
And thank god. Imagine if the pipe had inspired the omegaverse.

While some of the more major stuff for the AU is the Time Travel+the whole Unicron thing that happens a while after (which are more like long arcs, basically), there’s a more major/main thing that I just haven’t mentioned until right now.
It involves the rest of the Prime’s. Earlier on before the events of the AU started, and during the earlier moments of everything, all of the Prime’s were simply watching what was happening on both Cybertron & Earth, but never exactly going to help.
A while before Unicron’s arrival, and even before any of the Time Travel, or any of the other major stuff, Unicron heads to where the rest of the Prime’s were currently at, and basically controls them all, making them all do certain things.
Still, none of them head to Cybertron or Earth for a while, and simply cause trouble on Earth from where they remain.
After Unicron is inevitably dealt with, that’s when the Prime’s- still under whatever control Unicron had done- finally decide to leave. Half of them head to Earth, while the others head to Cybertron.
They’re all quite powerful, and they’re all causing a lot of things to happen- it’s a long list. Although, they are able to take control of some others- like how Unicron had done to them.
It leads into a team-up with a good amount of the Bots & Cons, with them needing to try and stop the Primes, aswell as basically save them.

I was doing a little reading on the invasion of Ukraine (you know, as you do), and, uh...
Tumblr media
First off, Lithuania's got some balls. Go Lithuania. Someone hung this from a building in their capital city. For context, Lithuania is almost right next to Russia. I think they actually share a border with part of it, and it takes some serious guts to call your neighbor that's much more than ten times your size out on their shitty behavior.
Second, the children's rights commissioner of Russia (the lady responsible for getting all those Ukrainian children kidnapped) legit looks like Dolores Umbridge's equally-psychotic niece.
Tumblr media
Seriously, look at her. She's like a younger, slightly more attractive Nurse Ratched. She looks like she's ten seconds away from very politely ordering my brains blown out with electricity or a belt. I hate her face and I want her to stay the fuck away from me. And this isn't even mentioning who she is as a person, because she "adopted" one of the kids she kidnapped, has EIGHTEEN adopted children, and she married a priest for some godforsaken reason. And yet the Ukrainians are supposedly the ones trafficking children...
Side note, Russia is doing a very bad job at convincing anyone that they're not the bad guy in this situation. There's a map of the UN member states that voted to condemn Russia, and it overwhelmingly favors either condemnation or neutrality. The two exceptions are Eritrea, Syria, and, of course, Russia. Their responses to people (especially Ukraine) accusing them of war crimes boil down to "No, you!". You'd think the biggest country on Earth would be more mature than to use a kindergarten insult as an official diplomatic retort. They've tried claiming the many, many, many photographs of their war crimes are fake, that the bodies left over from their massacres were either planted or there all along (yeah, sure) and that Ukraine is ruled by Nazis despite the fact that their president is Jewish and their Nazi party has never won more than 6% of the popular vote. I don't believe in God, but if I did, I'd say He probably put Russian officials' anal orifices on the wrong part of their bodies. I'd believe the moon landings were faked before I ever believe a single word that comes out of the government's collective asscrack.
