Remember when, towards the beginning of Unwind, Connor sees a storked baby on someone’s doorstep?
Connor has just escaped the juvies less than 48 hours beforehand. Right now, his main focus is not getting caught by juvies and being unwound as a result. He has Risa and Lev to look out for - not that he knows either of them very well at this point - but his main goal, at this point, is saving his own skin (literally). Connor didn’t object when his classmate, and fellow unwind, Andy Jameson, sacrificed himself for him. It was implied in a Facebook post (all the way back in 2011!) that Connor and Andy were friends - and Andy was ultimately unwound because he saved Connor’s life. Andy is never mentioned again. Connor feels no guilt over Andy entering a divided state for him.
And yet, when Connor sees that baby on the doorstep, he panics.
It’s not like the general public in the Unwind Universe care about storks that much. Starkey was tormented by his status as a stork - everyone else thought he was a joke because of it, and he hated himself for that. Bam feels similarly, and is no stranger to becoming aggressive with those who try to belittle her because she was abandoned as a baby. No adults seemed to want to help them in this regard - they sent Bam and Starkey off to be unwound in the end, because their status as storks and the lack of affection from everyone in their lives came to be too much, and their anger was no longer contained and internalized. Bam lived - but Starkey ultimately died because he, more than anything, wanted to be something other than a stork to be unwound, who wouldn’t amount to anything.
But that’s not the point here, really. Connor doesn’t know Bam or Starkey, let alone that Starkey will die at his only remaining hand. He’s not panicking because someone he knows is a stork, and is suffering because of it. Someone he knew was a stork, and died because not a single person in his neighborhood cared about keeping him alive.
A baby was put on the doorstep of Connor’s parents. They knew why he was there - they had been storked, and they were now legally, and morally, obligated to take in the baby as their own.
But they already had a seven year old and a four year old! Two boys, no less! They had no need for a third son. Surely no one had seen them be storked by whatever irresponsible girl had gotten herself pregnant and given her baby up to good, hardworking people, who shouldn’t have had to bear the burden of her bad decisions.
Surely no one would notice if they just moved the baby to the doorstep of the neighbors. Surely they wouldn’t mind raising a son.
But no one said a damn thing.
Two weeks later, the baby boy showed up on the Lassiter’s doorstep - again.
He was visibly sick, so close to death that only then, out of pity for the infant, did the Lassiter parents take him in. He died in the hospital - most likely alone, having never known a world in which he was wanted. He never knew a world in which he wasn’t passed from porch to porch, doorstep to doorstep, suffering, alone and sick, because of the silence and apathy of everyone around him.
Everyone in the neighborhood came to the baby’s funeral, a funeral that was only held because it would have looked terrible for the Lassiter parents to not hold a funeral for the baby that died on their watch, and was technically their son. And they all cried. They knew they were all responsible for that baby boy dying, so they cried and cried, never admitting guilt, never admitting that one of them could have saved the baby’s life - and they chose not to.
Connor was only seven when the baby died. And yet, at sixteen, the death of the baby still haunts him. And here he is, face to face with the same situation. There is a baby on a doorstep - and the recipient of this precious gift is complaining about having to care for another unwanted child.
He remembers the death of the baby who could have been his neighbor, or his baby brother, if anyone around him had showed an ounce of compassion. A horrible thought strikes him.
This baby could suffer the same fate.
Connor is already so close to death himself. He could be caught by juvies at any moment. If he gets caught, Risa and Lev could die, too.
But, if he doesn’t act now, so could the baby.
So he goes to save her. He confronts the recipient of the storked child with no real plan. He just wants to save the baby. He can’t let another baby die because of human selfishness and apathy.
Risa steps in, making up a lie that she and Connor are the baby’s parents, and tells the recipient that she’ll take her baby back. Risa is furious with Connor, and chews him out. What could make him do a stupid thing like that? The three of them could be caught at any moment, and a screaming, crying baby isn’t going to make escaping persecution any easier.
But Connor couldn’t let Didi die.
Unwind came out in 2007 - it celebrated its seventeenth birthday last November. Unwind is now so old that, if it was a teenager, it couldn’t be unwound itself! So why bring up a well-known scene from the very start of the book.
Like the book itself, it comes back to Neal Shusterman.
@nealshustermanreal - remember what you wrote. While The Schwa Was Here might have been your first critically acclaimed book, Unwind is why you’re here today - why you are anything to anyone. And while all your books (that I’ve read) have complex themes of morality, like the anecdote I just mentioned above, remember that Unwind is what most people who know you, know you from. They know about Baby Lassiter, and they know about baby Didi. They know that silence, apathy, and complacency does more harm than good - they know that because of you.
And yet, here you are. People are dying in droves, and the people that aren’t dying are being injured, having their homes destroyed, being forced to watch their loved ones die, or otherwise being terrorized. Palestinians are dying. And yet, you wait over two months to say anything about it. You wait until your book tour, promoting a graphic novel you wrote about another genocide, is over. You send out an email quietly, an email that only those who are subscribed to your newsletter will see. And your statement seems to be an afterthought, squeezed between a paragraph on how you approach presenting your books on tour, and links to where you can buy a signed copy of your new, shiny graphic novel about genocide. And this is what you say.
Tumblr media
Most of your fans, at least on this platform, know of this email. We’ve all seen it. But I want to focus on that last part.
“I’ve taken a stand - by refusing to feed that mentality. The situation is tragic for everyone. We need empathy everywhere.”
You are being selfish. You wish to try to see why both Israel is justified in their slaughtering of Palestinians, and why Palestinians don’t deserve to be slaughtered. This is not a topic in which you can have your cake and eat it, too. Either you support the country who has proven that they will continue to murder Palestinians, destroy every aspect of their culture, and bomb every place that Palestinians cherished and loved, or you denounce that. Your refusal to acknowledge that the citizens of Palestine are the current targets in a genocide, to acknowledge that Israel will call anything or anyone they don’t like “Hamas” to slaughter them without criticism, and to acknowledge that all of this was the result of Israel wanting to destroy Palestine does not paint you as someone who is refusing to feed a black-and-white mentality. It paints you as someone who, because they aren’t being directly affected by this genocide, doesn’t think it’s their problem. That, by definition, is apathy.
This isn’t a perfect comparison by any means, but.
You are leaving Didi to die.

i don't really HATE cam because i know he didn't wish to be "born" but he literally needs to understand that risa doesn't like him back. the whole love triangle reminded me of twilight because cam literally cannot comprehend that risa is in love with connor and not him. kinda like jacob can't understand that bella loves edward also the meet up scene in unsouled where connor and risa reunite is so anticlimactic. i literally almost cried because i imagined the reunion to be like them hugging and kissing and crying. it's probably unrealistic for them to cry because they don't really seem like criers, but i would literally sob my eyes out if i saw my lover again after a year. the way connor calls risa his girlfriend is so cute AHAHABDHJBJD smh where's my connor to my risa
if there are any unwind fans still out there, lmk!!!

Here is me ranting/venting? because I need to get this out
!!Spoilers for Unwind!! And super creepy stuff
Okay so I’ve read the entire Unwind dystology, and of course I decided to re-read the books. I just re-read Roland’s unwinding scene from Unwind and HOLY FUCK it almost feels worse than the first time I read it. Everything after “splitting the corpus callosum” on page 292 was TERRIFYING. The feelings you get when you read it are so disturbing that you just feel “out of place” after you read it.
It’s just the way that they go in on his brain, and how he gradually loses consciousness as they cut his brain apart, and then listing the parts of the brain??? Like, it’s not really about the order or them taking his brain parts, but it’s just so utterly creepy the way they go in for his lobes and cerebellum and finally his brain stem. when they get to the hippocampus/medulla, he’s completely gone. It’s the “best” worst scene I’ve ever read, props to Neal Shusterman for being such a great writer.
The way that he has NO SENSES and he’s sort of stuck with his thoughts, like, no sight, no sound, etc. and the way he fades out of consciousness while trying to say to himself “but I’m still here” It’s fucking terrifying how good it was written, and anytime I read it I feel like I’m experiencing it which is great for an author but bad for the reader in this case. I hate Roland so much but that was the one time I felt bad for him. Btw I definitely cried when I re-read it because it felt so real, it really feels like you’re actually going through it.

ᰔᩚ connor lassiter x reader, angst with a fluff ending, slow burn!, insecurities, misunderstandings, love triangle, childhood friend reader, connor can’t choose lassiter, ooc connor probably, sweet confession near the end!!, some post undivided towards the end as well !
word count: 1.9k,, longest fic yet !!
I think I made this way too angsty and long, but bear with me guys :’) I also kind of switch a bit between POVs to include some of Connor’s thoughts, hope that’s fine! Honestly, I just wrote and let the ideas flow, but I hope this is what you wanted, dear anon<3
Tumblr media
You’ve known Connor since you were little kids. You grew up together — as neighbors, always playing together. From all the time spent together you considered him your best friend, even if you knew he didn’t think much of you.
In your heart, you knew you were not enough to consider him your friend, but you were selfish. You wanted Connor to see you as more than the annoying neighbor who constantly wanted to hang out with him, more than someone who was just pleading for an ounce of attention in his eyes. You wished he was happier with you than he was with fighting his parents.
Maybe if you tried hard enough to keep him away from fights — from meaningless arguments with peers, with his mom and dad — you wouldn’t have to hear his parents talking about an unwind order. Maybe if you dragged him away whenever he caused trouble for no apparent reason, you wouldn’t have to watch as Connor did everything in his power to make his parents regret their decision.
You watched as Connor studied to get that B+ in his science exam, as he gave his mother flowers. You silently watched as he turned into a shadow of the person he used to be, but it wasn’t enough. When was it ever enough? When could parents ever change their mind after they signed off on their children’s lives?
You watched as the time neared for Connor to go. You watched as he grew fearful, as trepidation crawled up his spine as if it could happen at any moment. You watched as he made the plan to leave— as you never crossed his mind even once.
You watched, that was all you ever did. You watched as the one you loved pleaded for his love to run away with him. You watched as she agreed, and wondered would you? You were sure you would. You’d trade the world to have Connor in your arms.
Finally, you watched as Ariana told Connor she wouldn’t go with him— she had a life — he no longer did. You watched as Connor crumbled, as he fell into the deep ends of his pain: the pain inflicted by the very people he called “parents.” Then and there, you decided it was fine if Connor didn’t love you, as long as he was happy.
You came up to Connor after Ariana revealed she wouldn’t go with him.
“How about you and I?” you asked softly, kneeling down near him.
“What about that?” he answered, taking a moment to throw you a look before resuming what you assumed was his spiraling. You couldn’t blame him, you would react similarly.
“I’ll go with you, Connor; wherever you want to go,” You brushed a stray hair out of his eye. “Just say the word.”
“What if I say now?”
You didn’t lie to him when you said that, quite the opposite. You followed him, did as he wanted while trying your best to keep him out of trouble.
You followed him as he got captured and tried to free himself. You followed as he met Risa, as he met Levi too.
Oh, how you hated the day Connor and Risa met. You hated it all: how she slowly started replacing you while he forgot you, how she became the glue that kept the group together, how she was, just to put it simply, better than you.
You slowly went from being part of his life to once again becoming a spectator. You were watching, again.
You saw how Connor looked at Risa. The softened eyes, the small tug at the lips you longed to kiss, the calmness and serenity that he exuded when she was around. You saw it all, of course you did, and you wished, oh you wished, you were her.
You wished just once he’d pick you. You were there since childhood, since you were kids. And yet, as soon as some other girl comes around, he’s interested.
Why? Why could he never see you? Why were you destined to yearn for a soul that did not reciprocate? Why was kismet so cruel? Why did it torture you so?
Why were you forced to watch as the one you loved fell for another? Why would your hearts never intertwine?
Even if you thought the opposite, Connor saw you. He’s always noticed you in his shadow, as if that was all you were meant to be.
Connor saw how you were always the first willing to help him— always willing to clean his bloody knuckles and nose after he just fought. You were the first one to actually try, and not give up on him after the first sign of him being, well, him. You were always there to help him study, to keep him out of trouble.
Connor liked you, he did. He just had no idea how to show you, not when you were always lingering, but never fully present. He had no idea how to take you out of your shell as a kid.
The brunette had been making progress to get to know you, even if most of it was just you scolding him. He used his fights as a way to push you towards him, to get you to open up when you were so mysterious.
Connor thought he liked you until he met his then girlfriend, Ariana.
After meeting her, all his feelings for you evaporated, never given a chance to come to light. He became fixated on her, just her, with no room for you. Soon, you reverted back to that shadow he worked so hard to get you out of. But he didn’t notice, not when all his attention was on her.
Following the fallout with Ariana, you two became close or as close as he would allow you. You became a constant in his life: a pillar of support. But that’s all you ever were, a continuance— never to become a change.
If only Connor noticed how you looked at him like he had crafted the skies, the earth, the stars, by hand. If only he realized his feelings weren’t unrequited — quite the opposite — you loved him. If only he realized the tightening of his throat and sweaty palms whenever you were around weren’t anxiety.
If only he gave you his focus once again. But he wouldn’t, not when Risa was in front of him, and all he could think about was her. Her pretty green eyes that reminded him of the grass blowing in the wind, her brown hair — almost like his, but not quite, her charming yet tough personality.
Everyone saw the signs: Connor was a fool in love. And you wished to be the one the fool loved.
They knew Connor was in love, but did they know it was two people? Did they know he laid awake at night wondering, questioning why his feelings came back for you?
Was it the sickly sweet domestic sight of you helping the kids in Sonia’s basement? Was it how kind and pure you remained despite the world you were dragged into? Was it that you were always there every step of the way for Connor, but he didn’t bother for you?
Maybe it was everything. Maybe it was the longing for someone who understood him. Risa understood Connor, but only to an extent, where as you, you knew Connor.
You knew who Connor was and what he stood for, even if those morals had been slightly fractured. You could recognize Connor amongst a sea of Connors. You, it was always you.
Connor couldn’t fool himself now. He understood the feelings that brewed inside him before. He understood what the tingle he got whenever you touched him was. He understood what the fastening of his heartbeat around you was.
Connor understood so much, yet so little at the same time. But, did it really matter when he knew he wanted you? Did anything when all he saw was you in his dreams? Laying there while he reached across to touch your hair and bring you close. While he inhaled your comforting scent. Waking only to find you across the room, leaving him with a soulful ache.
He came up to you while you were with the kids. “Can we talk?” he whispered into your ear, tickling it in the process and leading to goosebumps dotting across your skin.
You silently stood and nodded, promising the children vying for your attention you’d be back.
You both stood in silence for what seemed like an eternity before he spoke up. “I..I don’t know how to tell you, but I just wanted to say I’ve always noticed you. Despite what you think, I appreciate everything you’ve done, how nurturing you’ve been. How you still care for me even if I just toss you aside.”
“Connor, if this is you telling me you don’t want me around anymore, I get it. It’s fine, don’t drag it out,” You interrupted, your tearing heart begging you to put an early end to the conversation.
“What? No, no. Don’t think that. I would never want that from you, ever.”
“Then why did you bring me here? Please, tell me. The children want me back and I don’t think this is a good idea, your girlfriend is looking at us,” You tilted your head behind him, directing him to look at a staring Risa.
“Risa’s not my girlfriend, and why should I care who’s looking?” Connor stopped in the middle of his sentence, as if he was thinking before continuing on. “Let’s give them a reason to look.”
He then grabbed your head, pulling you closer to his body and crashing your lips together.
You were in shock, but soon melted into the kiss. It was slow, passionate, and full of hidden emotions, by both you and Connor. The kiss revealed things you wouldn’t dare say out loud before, until now.
As much as you wanted it to continue, as much as you wanted to indulge in your daydreams becoming true, you pulled away.
“Why..why would you do that?” you whispered out, watching the string of saliva that connected you both.
“I thought actions spoke louder than words.”
“You’ll be the death of me someday, Connor.”
“I just want you to know that I have loved you since we were kids, even if I didn’t show it,” Connor slowly said, like he was a sailor out in uncharted waters. Maybe this was uncharted waters, you’d never done anything of the sort with him.
┉┉┈◦ೋ•◦❥•
You heard the door close, signaling that Connor was home.
You heard his soft sigh next, with accompanied shuffling until he stepped foot into the living room. Connor laid down next to you, setting his face on your shoulder and his arms around your waist.
“Long day?” you whispered out before flipping the page of the book currently keeping you occupied.
“Mhm, so many things to do, yet so little time,” Connor responded before pressing a kiss into your shoulder.
You set your book down then looked at him, “How about I run you a bath?”
“Join me.”
You gave him one last kiss before getting up, “Come on then. I made your favorite.”

Book review: Unwind series by Neal Shusterman
Tumblr media
Rating:
Unwind: 5⭐
Unwholly: 3,5⭐
Unsouled: 3,5⭐
Undivided: 4⭐
Unbound: 4⭐
The dystopic worlds created by Neal are brilliant. This series in particular approaches some interesting and somewhat controversial topics, such as children/teenagers, organ donors, abortion, etc. Some of it is fucked up, but the way it was developed was 👌
I mean, I had dreams about it after I finished the first book, I couldn't sleep properly 😅 (The chapter 61 was heavy. I mean damn... I'm glad it was included.)
I gave a big rating to the first book because I was shocked tbh, and in the end my reaction was solely, 'damn..... What have I just read?!!?!'
With the second and third books, I didn't have the same feelings. In the fourth book, a lot was happening (actually, there was a lot happening in all books), but in this one specifically, I was already past the middle point and couldn't see the end. Get what I mean? Anyway, I liked how it ended. About the fifth book, I'm a sucker for these short stories. I just love to have more stories packed in one book, and they were all interesting to me.
I think this was a very interesting read, because the subjects were not easy to deal with, and were a bit shocking at times, but were developed and dealt with superbly, and kept me on the edge of my seat for a great part of it. I also think it's good to sometimes face these topics head on and trying to understand them better and how they make us feel.
PS: I LOVE THESE HARDBACKS!!!!! 😍😍😍

Sun in 4th House Overlay (Once Upon A Time)
NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT STEAL MY WORK. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO REPOST, PLEASE GIVE CREDIT.
Tumblr media
Artwork by amusvision.
Synastry. Don’t let astrology limit you, you can have the relationship you dream of!
Settle.
Tumblr media
First, I would like to state that I am not an astrologer. I’m writing this description or whatever you’d like to call this because I created a playlist based on this synastry overlay. My process of creating playlists is like an author writing a book. For this reason I wanted to write this short story (or whatever you’d like to call this) to explain my song choices into my own words based off of the research I did on the Sun being in someone’s fourth house. Just in case it is not visible, I have provided 3 links in my description of the fourth song of this playlist to help you gain a better understanding of my thoughts/imagination when curating this playlist. If you have any experience with this overlay or if you are an astrologer, let me know your thoughts and experience because I genuinely am interested.
Illuminating (Sun) your home (4th House).
The Sun person is lighting up the home of the Fourth House person. By this I mean that the Sun person is involved in the Fourth House person's family life, home, and space in general. With them illuminating and being so prideful of this part of the Fourth House person's life, they make them feel good about their home, family, where they're from and the foundation of who they are today. The Fourth House person finds comfort in the Sun person's pride in them. This makes them open to being more vulnerable with the Sun person. During my research I learned that the Fourth House person makes the Sun person feel comfortable with sharing their inner creativity. The Fourth House person lays down a stable foundation for the Sun person to share their creative pursuits without the external influence of anything outside of themselves. The Fourth House person makes the Sun person feel free from judgment. To get deeper into the vulnerability of this synastry overlay we should talk about how vulnerability can lead to trust issues. The fourth house is known as your Nadir or Imun Coeli (Latin for “bottom of the sky”) better yet known as your IC. This part of your chart is the part that you keep closest to your heart, because it is essentially the home that you retreat to when you’re going through growing pains or when you wanna feel comforted. If the Sun person lights up the Fourth House person's place of retreat before they’re ready to open up those doors, it can be extremely uncomfortable and scary for the Fourth House person. Think of it as you having a room in your home filled with memories in the form of pictures or moving images, like the moving portraits in Hogwarts. These moving portraits are filled with the sunny moments of your life, but also the gloomy moments of your life. You alone have the key to this room. You allow someone into your home, but they find the key, enter the room, turn on the light, and begin viewing all of these memories without your consent. This person is actively disrespecting your boundaries and breaking your trust. Yes, you allowed them into your home, but you never gave them permission to unlock those doors filled with the foundation of who you are today. That is sort of what the Sun in the fourth house synastry overlay is like. Which is why it is important to establish and respect each other's boundaries and be patient with one another. Trust that in time, the Fourth House person will let you see those parts of themselves when they are ready. When this time does come around the Fourth House person starts to make space and time for the Sun person to be a part of their home, until they eventually become each other's home.
Okay, now to get into the playlist I created and the story it tells based off of this synastry overlay. The playlist (can be found by pressing the link at the bottom of this post) contains 5 songs put all together to create a 19 minute long vibe with the subtitle “Settle.”
The first song of this playlist is Undivided by Roy Woods. I wanted to start this playlist off with this song as a representation of the Fourth House person, someone who isn’t a homebody being hit by this Sun in the fourth house overlay. The Fourth House person finds themselves wanting to stay home with the Sun person. Staying home cooking with them or cuddling them, just being domesticated with them in general becomes more interesting and exciting than going out and being around others. This is described from the start of the song with the lyrics:
“I don't party on Friday night.”
“I don't party on Saturday no more.”
“I ain't hit the club, drinking at the crib with the bros, pinching all the ounce from the plug.”
It becomes a point where you look forward to just being alone with your partner because as Roy mentions, “Mind is clear when we lay down. Shorty understands me, I'm safe in your arms now. First time for a lot of things now, shorty you got me weak.” The “first time” line and the “safe in your arms” line in connection to this playlist refers back to the first few lines of not going out no more and being okay with your lifestyle changing for this person to become a (hopefully) permanent part of your life. To me, the “you got me weak” line is saying that your partner has broken down your walls and though that can typically feel scary, with trust in the Sun person, it feels reassuring to finally be understood by someone who knows what you are thinking and feeling intuitively. This is also mentioned in the lines of Roy’s mind being clear and from the chorus of the song, “She understands me, what goes on in my life, what goes on in my mind.” The Fourth House person has formed a deep emotional connection and sometimes an emotionally dependent and addictive connection with the Sun person due to how intimate and nurturing this overlay feels, to the point where the Fourth House person gives the Sun person all of them, this is seen here, “They said you should take time, that's why I'm giving her mine and it's undivided.” At the end of verse 2 when Roy says, “I've told you about the things I'm scared of and they don't trouble you and that's because you understand me.” The Fourth House person has exposed themselves to the Sun person, sharing their deepest secrets with them and since this is the fourth house, opening up about their family and their traumas to them. The Sun person makes the Fourth House person feel at ease and secure, so they don’t mind pouring out their heart and soul to them and becoming an open book when it comes to the Sun person. The Fourth House person is not afraid to be vulnerable. It feels as if you both were meant to find each other in this lifetime because of how instant the connection is and how familiar it all feels. The outro of this song puts emphasis on how both the Sun and the Fourth House person feels this intimate and familial connection with each other with Roy repeating the line, “you wanted it as much as I”…
Tumblr media
The second song of this playlist is also the namesake of the subtitle of this “Once Upon A Time” story, it is Settle by BAYNK and Sinéad Harnett. I used this song as a representation of the Sun person. The first 2 lines, “It’s not what you say to me. No, it’s just the way that you say it to me.” Represents the familiarity that the Sun person feels with the Fourth House person. The Fourth House person brings out a feeling of comfort, a feeling that nothing is wrong and you’re safe with them. In relation to this song in this playlist, this comfort can be felt simply through their words. There is a gut feeling that they were meant to be with one another. It can feel as if you’re not meeting each other for the first time, but simply picking up from where you left off. The line “I saw the best part of me inside you.” Represents the Sun person's heart becoming elevated by the Fourth House person's soul. The Fourth House person is an open book and vulnerable with the Sun person, as represented by the first song of this playlist, Undivided. This in turn, leads to the Sun person being able to see themselves in the Fourth House person. As a result of this, the Sun person feels very protective of the Fourth House person and wants to become a caretaker for them. They want to provide a home whether that be within themselves or literally, for the Fourth House person. They would do anything to make sure that the Fourth House person feels safe and content when they’re together. The Sun person would defend the Fourth House person with their life. This is also seen in this line from the chorus, “I promise you, I’ll protect you forever.” These next lines from verse 2, “Yeah, you really get me into my zone. Loving you only feels right.” Represents the Sun person feeling like they are meant to be with the Fourth House person. From the beginning of this connection, it feels as if you are home through the overall sense of security that this synastry overlay carries, and this is felt by both the Sun and the Fourth House person. This is a quiet kind of love, one where you lay seaside on a towel reading a book together or short trips spent in the car singing along to your favorite songs. Anything to have this person remain a constant in your day-to-day life, “If you want me to, I'll stick with you, we’ll settle”…
Tumblr media
The third song of this playlist is Take It Home by Alina Baraz. I wanted to use this song as a representation of both the Sun person and the Fourth House person because I feel like the message I’m trying to convey with this song based on the Sun In the fourth house synastry overlay can be applied vice-versa. Not only is it a representation of both, but it is most importantly a representation of the mindfulness that I recommend having with this connection. It is, after all, one of the three water houses (4th, 8th, 12th) and on top of that being an angular/cardinal house (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th). The water houses are primarily emotional in nature. Once these houses are activated in synastry, emotions are brought to the surface, you’re more vulnerable and can easily become codependent with the need to merge. The angular/cardinal houses are primarily introspective in nature. Once these houses are activated in synastry, the person activating it will have an influential impact in your lifetime. You will instantly experience them and it will lead to getting more familiar with your soul and subconscious. Now that we’ve established that, let’s get into the lyrics of this song and it’s connection to the Sun in the fourth house synastry overlay:
“I just wanna figure out somewhere you could take me, I been stressin’ lately.” To me this line represents relying on your person to be your escape, the one person that is your home and your comfort. You’re aware of the fact that your person understands you, wants to take care of you, and protect you in any way possible, so you lean onto them because of the safety and familiarity that they exude. This next line is from the pre-chorus, “We could take it slow, won’t you say it?” Since you both want to be there for each other and be each other’s constant, you’re both taking on the responsibility of being gentle and patient with each other. But the one thing you should be mindful of is the fact that as a result of this being an angular/cardinal house, it can be extremely uncomfortable when this is activated. Sometimes it can lead to trust issues and maybe you’re simply just not ready to let someone into those parts of yourself. Regardless of you not being ready to open up, since this is a water and angular/cardinal house, these feelings just seem to easily spill over the surface and it feels like your person is able to read you as if you’re an open book. It is the responsibility of both partners to set clear boundaries and try to move at a slow pace to build comfort and trust for one another. This next line is also from the pre-chorus, “‘Cause I know you know that you feel it in your soul.” Both the Sun and the Fourth House person are aware of this connection, and to me, this line is a representation of water house synastry in general. It always feels soul-deep. As if your bodies aren’t meeting one another, but your souls are. To me, verse 2 represents the establishment of boundaries and patience that I recommended you should have when talking about the pre-chorus of this song, “You say that you want someone to hold, I just wanna get you all alone. You just gotta say it, don’t you keep me waiting.” Well maybe the “Don’t you keep me waiting.” line isn’t an example of patience, but it is a representation of moving at the pace of the other person by mentioning, “You just gotta say it.” as in, the ball is in your court. Before I end this song's breakdown of this playlist, I just wanna ask, doesn't the instrumental of this song remind you of a fairytale or is it just me? Okay, now the outro I feel doesn’t need much of an explanation as to why I added it in here, “You just gotta take it home”…

The fourth song of this playlist is Pluto Projector by Rex Orange County. I really love this song, it’s so precious and beautiful to me. This song in relation to this playlist is meant to be seen from the Sun person's perspective. Immediately from the first line, “The great protector, is that what I’m supposed to be?” The Sun person — as mentioned when discussing the second song of this playlist, Settle — feels very protective of the Fourth House person. They take on the responsibility of being the protector and safe haven for the Fourth House person, even without being asked to do so. From the first verse, “Seventy-mil projector, I can show you everything.” The mention of a 70-millimeter projector refers to the high resolution films that use 70-mm film formats in order to capture a larger in size and wider aspect ratio, in comparison to the standard 35-mm film format. 70-mm films are considered better and special because the film comes out sharper, bigger, and more stable in image. Even though a 70-mm film is considered better, they’re not commonly produced because they’re far more expensive and it takes more work to present. If you would like to know more about the significance of 70-mm films and how they came to be, here are two links. (This first link leads to a YouTube video that is about 1 minute long and this second link leads to a YouTube video that is about 12.5 minutes long.) In relation to this song and this overlay, the Sun person is letting the Fourth House person know that they can show them and offer them more than anyone ever has. Normal and average is not what their baby deserves, no, they believe that the Fourth House person deserves the best there is to offer and they’re willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that they have it and get to experience it with them. “And we’re on our way to glory, where the show won’t ever end. And the encore lasts forever and it’s time we’re due to spend.” Keeping up with the theme of films, we see actors and actresses receive praise and glory for their work and they gain a certain level of protection where from the outside looking in, they seem untouchable. It seems like they receive the best that life has to offer. The Sun person is letting the Fourth House person know that with them, the feeling of glory, receiving the best that life has to offer, praise, and being their protector will always remain a constant because, “I’ll gladly say again, I hope the encore lasts forever. Now there’s time for us to spend.” From Verse 2, “Spending the years together, growing older every day (every day). I feel at home when I’m around you.” With this being a fourth house synastry overlay, this couple tends to want to spend a lot of time with each other. The “growing older every day” line truly is fitting to me because when I think of fourth house synastry, I immediately start picturing the scene from Inception when Cobb and Mal grow old together. It is quite a precious synastry overlay. You truly just want to find a way to fit into each other's lives and stay there forever. You spend time in each other’s homes and with each other’s families. Time spent doting on and in the comfort of one another. This couple finds a home within each other. “And it’s sublime with you.” How can you want to be with anyone else when every moment with your significant other is so exceptional? Nothing compares to the way that you feel when you’re with them. Continuing verse 2, “This right here still feels like a honeymoon. When you say my name, nothing’s changed.” Years may pass, but with the Fourth House person, the Sun person remains in the honeymoon phase with their love.
During my research it was mentioned that for some, this synastry overlay either happens very early or very late in your life. For this reason, this next line from verse 2 is for the ones reading this who has or is experiencing this synastry overlay early on in their life, “I’m still a boy inside my thoughts, am I meant to understand my faults?” With a relationship happening so early on in your life, it can lead to you not taking it seriously and just being a kid because… you technically are. While writing about the third song of this playlist, Take It Home, I mentioned the emotional and introspective nature that a fourth house synastry overlay can have on the people experiencing it. Being so young and having to deal with such heavy emotions, it’s not something that you’re going to take seriously, and in my opinion, that is okay. To me, you should live your childhood being as youthful as possible. Allow yourself the freedom to simply be and play. “As soon as I'm old enough (old enough to understand).” When you grow older you can look back on it and take the time to understand your faults and hopefully grow from it to become a better person. But for now, I say, don’t worry and just let yourself be in the present moment.
This next line is from the outro and it kind of connects (once again) back to the second song of this playlist, Settle, “It’s you that knows my darkness, and you know my bedroom needs. You could blast me and my secrets, but there’s probably just no need.” The Sun person feels comfortable with the Fourth House person and confides in them. They’re aware of the risk taken with being so vulnerable with the Fourth House person, but they also know that the Fourth House person is just as deeply sensitive towards them. Just like the Fourth House person, the Sun person also has a room filled with moving portraits (honestly, we all do), and the Sun person somehow finds comfort in the Fourth House person viewing their moving portraits. They know that with the Fourth House person, they won’t be judged, but loved for who they truly are. In turn, the Sun person wants to show the Fourth House person their darkness, express their bedroom needs, and secrets. To add onto this, in my research it was mentioned that because the Fourth House person compliments the Sun person with their nurturing energies, your ego and intuition can become well-balanced with each other. Through this, you tend to be the most authentic and pure version of yourselves with each other, this helps with loving one another's heart, mind, body and soul. Just like the previous song, the instrumental of this song (starting from the 2:45 mark) also reminds me of a fairytale. This line is from the outro, “Stay forever, you know more than anyone”…

The fifth and final song of this playlist is over and over by sky. I wanted to use this song as a representation of the Fourth House person and how the Sun person consumes them. Starting with verse 1, “Put my hands around your shoulders, that's the way that I hold ya. I could lay with you forever, baby, oh.” The Fourth House person can’t help but want to touch the Sun person. It’s almost a feeling of wanting to crawl into your partner's skin just to forever be a part of them and never miss a waking moment. This is the synastry overlay where you would suggest that a couple probably has separation anxiety because they never seem to be apart from each other. They will always find a way to touch each other, and if they can’t do that, they won't be too far from one another. For example, they’re cooking together, you’re not gonna hold hands with your partner (or maybe they will find a way lol), but it could be a scenario where one person is cooking while the other is sitting in the kitchen with them in a comfortable silence or talking to each other. If not that, then they’re both in the kitchen cooking and while one person slices the vegetables, the other is seasoning the meat. Whatever domestic scenario you can think of, this couple will find a way to do it together. These next lines are from verse 2, “Put your hoodie over my head. Stay and talk to me in my bed, think we finally found the real thing, baby.” Anything that has to do with the Sun person, the Fourth House person wants it to be a part of them. They’re game. They will find a way to be around each other, for things that you wouldn’t imagine two people could do, they would find a loophole to that. The Sun person brings out the youthful aura in the Fourth House person. They’re not afraid to say “Hold me.” or express their deepest feelings, and the Sun person welcomes those feelings with open arms. They don’t only want to share your sunny moments, they want you to find comfort in them to express your gloomy moments as well. They want to make it all better for you. The Sun person makes the Fourth House person feel as if nothing is wrong and becomes the Fourth House person's comfort zone. From the chorus, “I'm fallin' everyday, something came over me, I'd give you everything.” To me, the chorus expresses how everyday you find more of a reason to love your partner and stick by them. Even when those butterflies that you had at the beginning of the relationship fly away, you still find more reasons to stay and to love your partner. You want to be the best version of yourself for them. If it means them staying, you would give them anything and everything that you could possibly give, “Over and over again”…

The Sun and the Fourth House person found a home within one another where their moving portraits could “Settle” and they lived Happily Ever After…

What was the most heart stopping moment in undivided for you? And if you can’t pick just one say the few that are on your mind!
Definitely when Connor got unwound! Since we, the audience were not aware of his plan, (and since hes my favorite character) I was FREAKING out. I remember I was reading it at night on the couch and my parents set out dinner right after I finished that chapter so I had to wait to find out what happened next. I ate dinner believing he was permantly unwound!
2nd place would definitely be when Connor had to kill Starkey. The fact that he had to do it with HIS hand, not Roland's!! The implications of that still messes with my brain.
Thank you for the ask! Sorry it took so long for me to answer!

Unwind by Neal Shusterman
Since I finished reading The Arc Of A Scythe books by the same author, minus Gleanings (I couldn’t get my grubby little hands on it,) I started reading Unwind: a book about abortion being made illegal, and then replacing it with something five times worse. Now you can unwind your children at ages 13-18. What’s unwinding? It’s when you send your child to a harvest camp, where they will cut the kid up into pieces, and use those parts to replace the body parts that other people loose.
My thoughts on the book can be summed up in a single skit:
Me: Lev, my beloved. I must protect this child
Lev: *Threatens an unwinded child’s parents with a shovel*
Me: Okay, never mind, I guess he doesn’t need protecting.
I’m currently only halfway through the first book, so I don’t know much about the series. I’m still pretty clueless. I’m loving so far though!
Thanks for listening to my rant! Have a nice day! *Claps hands*
