Here I have started to create a gif with all my University research, I thought this was a good way to create an interesting inspiring piece of work. However my computer wouldn’t let me save the completed gif so I have had to video it .

SWOT ANALYSIS

Strengths:

My strengths are that I am very determined and persistent which means when I want to do something no matter what obstacles come my way I will get the task done. I am also a perfectionist so all the work I do I will not stop until it is up to a high standard of which I am happy with.

My want and willingness to learn is also a strength because it allows me to go above and beyond to get the knowledge using a lot of my free time to independently teach myself. As well as, it allows me to take criticism on board using it to help me progress and also learn from my mistakes so they don’t happen again.

Weaknesses:

I would say that one of my main weaknesses would be due to my ADHD I’m not always able to hold concentration and my attention span isn’t the greatest meaning sometimes tasks take me a little longer than usual as I get distracted easily.

In addition, another weakness I have would be that my anxiety and depression sometimes holds me back from reaching out and asking questions as well as decreasing my motivation, however I am working on these and they don’t  affect me as often anymore.

Rather than going around problems I tend to try and push through them and keep going when really it could be avoided, this means that I end up putting more stress and work on myself than is needed.

Opportunities:

The opportunities that can arise for me are that the Vfx industry is still growing with lots of different types of apprenticeships and trainee schemes at all different types of companies. I have also got the ability to go into the film and Tv industry due to most of the skills I have learnt carry themselves over with the knowledge of cameras and editing.

I have applied for a Production trainee scheme at the BBC and I am looking at other companies to potentially work at. As well as the potential to do work freelance once I have my own equipment.

More companies are coming up all over the world so there is also an opportunity to move abroad and travel within the industry

Threats:

The threats that I face are that there are lots of competition as it is a very desired job that takes a lot of technical skill, it is also an industry where most of it is who you know rather than what you know.

Another threat is that a lot of the main companies are in London however I am not financially in a position where I have the ability to relocate.

~Unit 11~ Development and Aging on the Internet

In this unit we learned about how if the Internet really is changing the way that we age and develop. It focuses on how it is affecting younger children like toddlers and if the older generation is being affected as well by it. Many people usually argue that the younger generation is going to be changed so much by the use of the Internet. This argument usually arises because of the growing use of electronics of young children and the concern that they will not be learning as well as generations who grew up without electronics. We learned that, actually, the Internet is not halting or disrupting child development, and is actually having positive effects on them.

My favorite point that was brought up about how children are using the Internet to improve their reading skills. This point really resonated with me because I spent so much of my childhood reading books, I still have multiple book shelves filled with all the different books I used to read. I would participate in summer reading programs and also was in book clubs with my mom and some of my other friends. Since reading was such a huge part of growing up for me I would hate to see that children don’t read as much because of the growing use of the Internet, so it makes me so happy to know that the Internet is still helping them with their reading skills.

For the older generations, the Internet is also proving to help them a lot too in aging and also having a lot of positive effects for them in terms of cognition, physical health, and psychological health. The Internet can allow for more communication for older people. It may get to a point where travelling is very difficult for some people, so using social media websites like Facebook or Skype can allow for grandparents to easily talk to their children or grandchildren or friends without having to fly to a different state. In terms of physical health, there are many apps that can help promote physical health. There are apps that you can log your physical activity in and also your caloric intake, so for the older generation this may be very helpful for them.

However, there is the issue that the older generation may have more difficulties in understanding how to use technology because they did not grow up learning how to use this. So in this part of the course we were instructed to teach someone over the age of 60 on how to do something online that they didn’t know how to do already. Most of my family members who are over the age of 60 are pretty Internet savvy, so I chose to instead teach my grandma, who is 90 years old, how to do some fun features on her iPhone. Since she is in Milwaukee, I taught her how to do some stuff over iMessage instead of in person, and she actually was really good at understanding what to do! I told her how to do simple things like attaching a picture to a message and also a little more difficult in how to send a gif, and she actually easily understood how to do it!

In our chat this week we talked about the digital divide between the younger and older generation and for those who do not have access to Internet and the different ways to combat this. My favorite thing that we learned about with this was how in India, where there wasn’t very much access to the Internet, they started a program where they sold cheaper cell phones to the citizens and then provided them free Internet for a year so they could learn how to use it and have all the benefits of the Internet. There was this shocking fact that only 30% of the world has access to the Internet which really surprised me. I think by using the representative heuristic, I thought that since everyone around me has a phone and uses the Internet I assumed that most of the world would too, which is really just not the case at all. India having this kind of access to the Internet was really helpful for allowing them to benefit from the Internet in ways that other people are too.

According to the 2017 Pew Research report, "Seniors are also more likely than those in other age groups to say they need others to show them how to use new devices." This is a barrier to their access because many seniors do not have other people to show them how to use new devices. Additionally, their friend-groups likely consist mostly of other seniors, who may also need help.

Reflection Lesson

Today we had a reflection lesson on the research we have undertaken to see how we could take this research into our work i have found that as i have analysed mostly graphical cvs i could take only take so much inspiration from these.i have taken inspiration like the layout and the colour schemes. As i am taking the pathway of 3D Design i have decided i should research more into 3D CV's i will do this by taking screenshots of pinterest boards and highlighting the best ones and seeing what would go well with the theme od architecture.

Here I am in some condominiums on the outskirts of Puerto Peñasco. In the image I am with my uncle and his friend. In these condos there are many activities to do. In that photo if I had not put a sunscreen, maybe I would have burned badly or if I had not brought my cell phone, maybe I could not have taken that image. The bad thing about these condominiums is that the internet is being very expensive and many people are complaining about it. The good thing about Puerto Peñasco is that people are environmentally friendly and that is a great point for tourism. As a result of this the economy of Puerto Peñasco is very good. Although when there is a lot of tourists in Puerto Peñasco there is a lot of traffic congestion. #PuertoPeñasco #Unit10 #Unit11
