@purplebloodedmajesty also gave me the word "brick," and this time I was able to keep it short like I intended.
Brick
UrSu calls UrMa the Peacemaker. UrMa is glad to wear the name, though sometimes he thinks something less grand might be more true. He is more often simply a Maker, a maker and repairer of things among the urRu. What furniture they have, he joins. What metals they use, he forges. What walls they have, he builds. Every object in urRu life, from the largest table to the finest needle, has passed under his hands.
He is perfectly willing to say that this work is less significant than his moderation of disagreements—holes in companionship are more difficult to repair than holes in pots—but what he keeps to himself is that he thinks that both kinds of work might grow from the same root.
Mystics will always need things—objects, that is, to keep a focus on UrMa’s everyday concerns. UrMa accepts that there may come a time when they do not need objects, but on that day, they will not be mystics as they are now. So. Mystics need things. And UrMa has noticed that they are easier with each other when they have all the things they need, when they do not need to wait for tools, when they do not have to make do with broken things.
A rake with missing teeth, say, should have no effect on the patience of an urRu. Very well. But it does. And so UrMa makes sure that there is no bad rake for anyone to be stuck with, even if they were the last to arrive to help with the gardens.
Mystics need enough things, in fact, that all the things they need for all the tasks of necessity and beauty do not fit easily or comfortably in their cells. It distresses many of them; UrMa knows this well. UrYod is baffled by the space taken up by his notes and mathematical tools, even if their volume is easy to calculate. UrAc was always aware his records would grow as the trine passed, but how can truth and chronicle fill so large a space, even when so carefully composed? Are they not trying to live simply? Have they become bound by the material? On another hand, UrUtt is embarrassed by his overflowing cell, though UrMa has told him he doesn’t see anything improper or excessive for the Weaver to have. And UrMa himself—there are so many things involved in the making and fixing of other things.
And so today he makes bricks. He makes them with care, as if each one is precious, but he still makes many, many bricks. And when these bricks are baked he will use them to build structures upon Thra’s soil, as if he had as much right as any gelfling, and the urRu will be able to have space in their cells but also all the things they need, kept dry and easy to find and in good repair.
It will be easier for urRu patience and forbearance to be sustained, with such structures.
UrMa knows that this will not seem quite right to some—UrZah will not like it; it does not seem like the urRu way. So UrMa already has plans to ease the shock of the brick, pressing spirals and grooves into it that vines will be happy to hold. UrNol’s tending will veil UrMa’s work, make it so lovely and green that there need be no grumbling about it.
And if ever he needs to account for himself, UrMa knows he has seen and done enough to argue well that peace is often made with things.

UrSan Headcanons!🌊
The UrMaid of Thra...
Tumblr media
It’s probably no surprise that UrSan The Swimmer is my favorite Dark Crystak character considering how much I draw her, but I feel like many of you would like to hear my headcanons for this beautiful lass!
UrSan is a Nomadic UrRu. Constantly swimming through the various waterways and seas of Thra. Like Urgoh and UrVa, she seeks out her own path. Prefering not to stay in place for too long. Like her counterpart, she yearns to have her own independence and sense of purpose.
UrSan is Loving and kind, but not Naïve. She knows life can be cruel, but she tries to keep her spirits up. She shows compassion to others, because she knows firsthand how hard it can be when you feel isolated, alone, or nobody cares. She had been scared half to death once when someone very close to her nearly perished due to their grief.
UrSan’s voyages across the rivers, seas, swamps, and lakes of Thra have inspired many folktales and legends among the Gelfling. The Majority of them coming from the Drenchen and the Sifa. These tales can arrange from terrifying bog monsters with bright glowing eyes... Made up entirely of tangling limbs, reeds, and mud. Shambling about to take away any naughty children who may have wandered too deep into the swamps, To beautiful women who lure young Gelfing into the dark depths, or even pure-hearted sea spirits that will lead you back to shore with their songs when you’re lost at sea…
UrSan’s singing sounds like that of a whale or siren. Many Sifan folktales have their roots in hearing this elusive tune underneath their ships. Echoing beneath them with a resonating lullaby that can be heard for miles.
Ursan wears little to no clothing as to prevent drag in the water as she swims. Her long hair serves to cover up most of her body whenever she leaves the water. (Which isn’t often.) But if she must be out of the water for an extended period of time; she has a lightweight dress she wears. She’ll usually keep these dresses in hollow tree trunks along the banks of rivers where she’s known to stop and rest. She finds clothes kinda itchy and weird.
Tumblr media
Due to all of her underwater travel, UrSan occasionally gets things stuck in her hair. Mostly Seaweed, but sometimes small animals, or sometimes even Gelfling can get trapped in her deep indigo locks! Although for that to happen is extremely rare and scary! She often lets plants that get tangled within her mane stay. Using them as a form of decoration. ((And sometimes a food source.)) Although most of the time, this is actually due to her forgetting to remove the flora in the first place!     When dry, UrSan’s hair is wavy. She also has little tufts of hair that stick out of place.
Tumblr media
UrSan Swims by using her powerful tail to propel her forward in the water. keeping her arms and legs pressed against her body. She’ll use her arms to cling onto rocks in particularly strong currents, or to assist in turning another direction.
UrSan has hidden grottoes and hideaways she stays in if she needs to rest or recover from an injury she may have gotten from her travels. Most often when noticing that her counterpart got into a particularly nasty fight. She calls these places “Sanctuaries”. These areas are scattered across the world of Thra, and are very hard to come by if you aren’t The Swimmer. UrSan knows these places by heart, and a few of them are connected by underwater tunnels. Any adventurer to stumble upon one of these sanctuaries is a lucky one indeed! As these places are full of necessities for survival, as well as rare and exotic items The Swimmer finds on her travels. She keeps these behind as mementos of previous journeys. If you’re particularly lucky, you may even stumble upon her during a period of rest. A sight very few ever see, but will always remember.     As well as Sanctuaries, She also has a network of underground channels she’ll use for fast travel. Although these are more risky due to the darkness, sharp rocks, and strong currents. Here are some visuals of what I have in mind for these Sanctuaries:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Below) An underground channel located in the claw mountains.
Tumblr media
UrSan makes a pilgrimage back to The Valley of the Mystics once every few Trine.
Tumblr media
On this voyage back home, she’ll bring back various things from her travels to give to her fellow UrRu. It’s not about the quantity, but the quality. Since she can’t carry too much while swimming miles upon miles back home; she’ll put a lot of thought into it. These items will often have a special meaning on how she feels about a certain individual. As well as a use. Many of these objects are not accessible in The Valley making them a heartfelt gift indeed. She keeps them in a small bag made out of fishing nets, or tied up in her hair.
She’ll stay in the valley for about a week or two before leaving. During this time, She’ll catch up with her brothers. Helping out, speaking of her travels and answering numerous questions. She will also allow her hair to be brushed, dried and braided. Decorating it with seashells that she will leave behind in The Valley from her numerous pilgrimages. As well as wearing clothing. Elaborate ones at that. (Or at least for a Mystic...) Her Robes are made from Sifan silk she found in a shipwreck that she gifted to UrUtt the Weaver, who in return created this masterful work of art. ((Clothing HC Based off of this description of her outfit!))
Tumblr media
The two are good friends. Even though UrUtt is put off by her decision to remain nude outside of the Valley. UrSan however, is blissfully unaware of how others could find her choices inappropriate. Being completely innocent about this aspect of life.
Speaking of Relationships, Two of her closest friends are UrTih the Alchemist and UrZah the Ritual Guardian.       UrTih the Alchemist is very close to UrSan. With the two of them interacting like a Big Sister and Little Brother of sorts, despite them being the same age. UrSan will spend a good part of her time back home experimenting and helping The Alchemist out with all sorts of things! Be it finding the materials he may need for potions, or asking him thousands of questions on whatever he may be working on! She also helps The Alchemist get out of his shell, as he sometimes feels anxious to speak or share his ideas with his fellow UrRu. UrTih is fond of UrSan as well. And is one of the first people to greet her upon her return. He enjoys the stories and excitement she brings to the monotony of Valley life. Even if she can get to be a too much at times. UrSan gets very excited whenever she’s around UrTih. He always has something new to say, and she admires his Creativity. She brings out a brave side of him, and he offers her kinship and a feeling of family. All and all their bond is inseparable! I heard that with the collaboration with another UrRu, UrTih is crafting a strange vessel known as a “Canoe”...      UrZah the Ritual Guardian is one of UrSan’s oldest, and closest friends. Their relationship started when his facial disfigurement caused him to spiral into a depressive state where all he would do was pray, do his rituals, and go to sleep. He wouldn’t eat and barely ever drank. As he felt unworthy of it. Like he was being punished by the gods for his transgressions. He was guilty of so much; breathing and speaking hurt so bad... It had to be a punishment. Especially considering the wicked acts of his “Other Half”. UrZah was just as responsible of those atrocities as he. They are two sides of the same coin. This period happened during a time frame where UrSan’s travels were very brief. Still being titled “The Swimmer” however she was not nearly as nomadic as she is today. Only really acting as a scout as she swam around the streams in the wilderness they had camped for the night. As they were still looking for their own home. She would make sure check up on everyone at night as she held her vigil. One particularly cold night, She heard UrZah’s harsh wheezing in the distance. It sounded much more labored... So she followed the noise and saw him collapsed on the ground surrounded by various types of sands, prayer objects, and half finished symbols. Twisting about in mesmerizing patterns all across the ground. Mortified, she immediately rushed for help. A few nights later the golden haired mystic awoke to see The Swimmer, UrIm the Healer, and UrSu the Master all watching over him. She had learned that she had saved his life; but he didn’t know why or how. He was scolded harshly by the three, but UrSan stayed with him for the night as she was worried for him. She would spend the next couple unum trying to lift his spirits, giving him little reasons to go on, and making sure he was eating and drinking at least something small everyday. It took a long, long time but he got better due to her and his fellow Mystics. And for that he’s eternally grateful. When he asks her about what happened the night she found him, she only stares off into the distance. Silent. Not saying a word. But perhaps... that’s for the best. As the trine passed the two grew closer despite their long distance apart due to UrSan’s travels. Becoming better friends despite their vastly different personalities and opposing worldviews. UrSan believing in being independent and doing all that they could to make up for their past transgressions, while UrZah believes the opposite. Following the Master’s orders of staying hidden, remaining vigilant, and being patient. Praying for safety until the next great conjunction. They work together like Caramel and Sour Apples! Better with each other than without. UrZah is a stable mystic who can help keep UrSan grounded in reality. Reminding her that there is a way to things. And UrSan is someone who can help him get out of his overly strict attitude and lift him out of his all or nothing mentality. The weight of the world is not on his shoulders. And She’ll always make sure to remind him of that.      Other Wandering Mystics: She has many experiences of running into UrVa the Archer, UrMa the Peacemaker, and in her younger days; UrGoh the Wanderer.
When finding one of her Dear, Fellow Travelers. She will often speak to them. Asking where they might be headed and what their plans are. Sometimes they’ll even camp together. Telling each other of their travels. Each Interaction is different depending on who she meets, but meeting another vagabond is always a fun surprise!      UrMa the Peacemaker is by far the most social. As he travels the lands looking for peaceful solutions to conflicts. When the two meet they’ll be sure to play around a bit before catching up. This usually entails UrMa racing her on the riverbank as she swims by the water’s edge. Or UrSan slowly emerging out of the water creeping from behind to startle the big strong UrRu! They’ll definitely set camp together and talk until dawn. Most stories shared between the two are those of unique individuals they met. The Peacemaker telling UrSan of some of the most foolish reasons conflicts had arisen and the weirdest ways those problems were solved! In the morning UrMa will usually invite her to follow him wherever he may be headed next and as long there’s a river alongside him to follow his path, The Swimmer will accept!      UrVa the Archer is someone UrSan also likes to catch up with when she can. She’ll find him most often drinking from a stream or resting in one of her secret sanctuaries. Their talks usually consist of philosophy with a bit of witty remarks and jokes sprinkled in-between. The two will also practice their physical abilities by sparring. As they are the two most active and strong UrRu.      When they camp together they’ll catch fish to make into kebabs. (UrSan is extremely fond of this part) UrVa will wait patiently as he stays still and catches them with his hands in the shallows. Using his strong reflexes and knowledge of the Mystic’s rarely used martial arts. UrSan however will chase the fish around the open water like a dolphin until she catches up to one and grabs it either in her mouth or powerful arms. Sometimes quickly jumping out of the water as she chases them! Each take only what they need for the night and make sure not to waste a single bit of what was given. All life is a gift from Thra. And as they are not of Thra, they can’t take recklessly. The two will cook together, and speak of their journeys and various tales they had heard or have made up themselves. The two will sleep at their camp together, and then part ways in the morning. Wishing the best for each other on their travels. UrGoh the Wanderer is a name UrSan hasen’t heard of in hundreds of trine. She hasn’t seen him since she was young. Telling her of a vision he was given to embrace unity with their counterparts. As well as the others shunning him from the Valley due to him trying to convince the rest. But sadly, they were all too stubborn. UrSan didn’t know what to make of this. It was a very complex and ambitious task to set fourth to acomplish. She did not follow him. But she gave him a spiral shell as a memento to be safe and to keep going forward. There wasn’t much she could do, because to be honest... She was scared. There are some nights where she wonders if she should have done more, should she embrace her own half as well? And how is The Wanderer nowadays? Safe she hopes. These thoughts sometimes keep her up at night.
Scars: [MAJOR SPOILER WARNING FOR THE TIDES AND FLAMES OF THRA UNDER THE CUT] Non-Spoiler HC: She has some minor scarring from SkekSa due to the Skeksis being a swashbuckling adventurer. Of course she’s gonna get nicked from time to time. UrSan has gotten used to these. She also has piercing holes along the sides of her snout, but she doesn’t choose to wear any piercings to go with them.
When Skeksa gets her hand cut off by Tae, as we know, the same happens to UrSan. Her hand being cut clean off. Thankfully Urru have four hands in all, but this wound took a lot out of UrSan and makes turning while swimming harder. As well as gripping to rocks in areas with stronger currents. Saltwater can sometimes enter the wound. Causing a stinging sensation. She also has a bad stab wound in her abdomen and shoulder. As well as burn scars across her body. Her Fight with SkekSa also gave the two of them some deep scars.
Although her Counterpart was imprisoned inside an enchanted apeknot tree, UrSan survived into the Garthim wars. During this time she would save and hide away as many Gelfling as she could even though all seemed hopeless. She died of unknown causes during this era. Let’s just hope her efforts weren’t in vain.

Some UrSkek thoughts/ideas, cut cuz it's long
skekOk the Scrollkeeper + urAk the Scribe = OkAk the Historian
These roles are quite similar; people who write and record things. Thus, this one was easy for me. OkAk would be the one who recorded and knew all of UrSkek history, and would likely have a large library.
skekAyuk the Gourmand + urAmaj the Cook = AyukAmaj the Chef
These roles go hand-in-hand, one who eats and one who cooks. Thus, I went with the logical mix; a Chef, one who improves and creates new dishes. They would obviously be the chef of the UrSkeks, providing meals for the others.
skekGra the Conqueror/Heretic + urGoh the Wanderer = GraGoh the Explorer
While I was tempted to make GraGoh an artist due to their shared interests during AoR, I went with their official titles, both known for traveling. I think GraGoh would be the type to be constantly finding new places, meeting new creatures, and relaying the things they learn to the other UrSkeks.
skekHak the ??? + urHom the Carpenter = HakHom the ???
Unfortunately, we don't know what skekHak's role was. Thus, I can't combine their roles as I did with the others. For them, I speculate that skekHak would have ended up being some sort of craftsman or builder, and it would have extended to HakHom.
skekUng the General/Garthim Master/Emperor + urIm the Healer = UngIm the Leader
After the deaths of skekSo and urSu, skekUng took over as Emperor of the Skeksis. I'm not sure what their role would have been before this, as I can't find any real comparison between them. Maybe a Medic? Like, a battle medic.
skekLi the Satirist + urLii the Storyteller = LiLii the Entertainer
Though we've never seen them, these two were also easy for me. In my mind, Lilii was the one who would come up with humor and stories to entertain the other UrSkeks, based on the halves' titles.
skekVar the General + urMa the Peacemaker = VarMa the Strategist
In the case that the UrSkeks would ever have to fight, it would come down to VarMa to figure out what to do. They're a master negotiator, but also skilled in battle when need be. All in all, they would be the one to figure out how to best face a conflict.
skekNa the Slave Master + urNol the Herbalist = NaNol the ???
Honestly, I have no idea what to do with these two. Their roles seem completely unrelated to me. If y'all can come up with something for them, let me know, I'd be excited to see.
skekSa the Mariner + urSan the Swimmer = SaSan the Sailor
Similarly to GraGoh, SaSan would be a constant traveler, the only difference being that they focused on the sea.
skekLach the Collector + urSen the Monk = LachSen the ???
These two seem like complete opposites. Honestly, I'm not sure what to do with them. Maybe something to do with sorting or rating.
skekSil the Chamberlain + urSol the Chanter = SilSol the ???
While I can't quite figure out exactly what I'd want their role to be, with their titles being so different, but I know that they were likely an assistant to whoever bore the title of Leader. Perhaps something to do with speaking, due to skekSil's tendency to mess with people through words.
skekSo the Emporer + urSu the Master = SoSu the Leader.
They were the original leader of the UrSkeks, before the role was passed to UngIm with their death.
skekTek the Scientist + urTih the Alchemist = TekTih the Researcher
They spend all of their time trying to learn new things, trying to find information about the world around them. Unlike GraGoh and SaSol, however, they don't travel, instead researching through books and experimentation.
skekEkt the Ornamentalist + urUtt the Weaver = EktUtt the Tailor
EktUtt was likely the one who provided clothing for all of the UrSkeks, and in my mind, were the most materialistic UrSkek. They like high-quality clothing that tells a story and expresses the wearer.
skekMal the Hunter and urVa the Archer = MalVa the Warrior
MalVa was likely one of the physically strongest UrSkeks, fighting/killing for food and to protect the others when needed. They likely worked closely with ValMa, both dealing with battle more than the other UrSkeks.
skekYi the ??? + urYa the ??? = YiYa the ???
Legit have no info on either of them. No idea what they could've done.
skekShod the Treasurer + urYod the Numerologist = ShodYod the Mathematician
They're a master of math, with their accounting skills moving to skekShod. If UrSkeks had a system of currency, they totally were the one who handled it.
skekZok the Ritual Master + urZah the Ritual Guardian = ZokZah the High Priest
Their titles are near exactly the same, so I treated that as ZokZah being extremely ritualistic and focusing on tradition, moreso than any other UrSkek.

Note
In a sort of Nature v. Nurture debate, do any of the reincarnated Skeksis or Mystics adopt new titles when they reach adulthood? Have any of them outgrown their previous occupations?
"I am glad your journey and ours share a common path once more. May Thra watch over your destinies, be they unchanged or forged anew."
"Welcome back, urMa the Peacemaker.
Tumblr media
Welcome back, urSen the Monk
and welcome back, urVa the Shepard."
(Of the original six, urVa, skekLach and skekVar would eventually change their titles to better reflect their new personas.)

Because there is not nearly enough content on them, here is a list of headcanons for all of the Mystics.
UrSu the Master.
Biggest Mystic.
Perpetually tired.
Someone please get this man a coffee.
Despite his role as leader, he constantly second guesses himself to the point of doing nothing.
Can only see one path moving forward and rarely entertains any other ideas.
Will say he doesn't play favorites. Big lie, UrMa is his favorite.
Every Mystic knows it, but none of them will say so.
Gets sad very easily.
Like, the wind could blow wrong and boom, sad lad.
Cries very easily, though will try to do so only when alone.
(Or around UrMa)
Tends to be intimidating upon first meeting him.
Genuinely cares for and loves all of the Urru.
Doesn't think he is a good enough leader.
UrSol the Chanter.
Is the Chamberlain of the Mystics. (Not nearly as bad as Chamberlain.)
Never lies.
Will occasionally use his voice to play pranks on the other Mystics.
Once had UrMa believe that he had a bird following him around for an unum (a month).
UrLii thought it was hilarious. UrSu, not so much.
The most honest of the Mystics and least likely to speak in riddles.
His honesty can come across as rude sometimes.
"UrAmaj, the food is not very good today."
When alone, will sing songs that only he can hear. They are sad songs, ones that display the true emotions that he keeps hidden.
Close friends with both UrZah and UrIm.
UrMa the Peacemaker.
Like SkekVar, has exactly one (1) braincell.
An absolute softie. The sweetest of the Mystics.
Is one of the Urru sad? Prepare for many kind words and hugs.
You don't want a hug? That is okay, UrMa doesn't mind. But he has a hug to offer in case you need it.
That one braincell takes him on many adventures.
If UrSu is out and about in the Valley, UrMa is not far behind.
Will often stare into space for hours. Usually trying to figure out one of UrZahs riddles.
There is not a mean bone in his body.
You could insult him right to his face and he would still love you. (Don't insult the lad please)
Even if a rare argument happens between some Mystics or if one is particularly depressed, those feelings don't last long so long as UrMa is around.
UrSu didn't talk to anyone for nearly a full trine when UrMa passed.
The Valley was much bleaker without him.
UrZah the Ritual Guardian.
So many riddles.
His riddles have riddles.
Will make a ceremony out of anything and everything.
Which is usually fine.
Some Mystics have had to put their foot down though.
No, UrZah, there doesn't need to be a ritual for when that particular rock has a shadow.
Will have conversations with UrSol for hours.
Those that listen in will become lost within seconds.
Even UrSu, for all his wisdom, will sometimes have no clue what they are talking about.
UrMa will just smile and nod.
Has a sand painting for just the occassion.
UrIm the Healer.
About done with the Skeksis' bullshit.
On housecall 24/7.
Daily check ups to make sure everyone is doing okay.
Visits UrTih. A lot.
Like, a lot a lot.
Always has bandages on hand in case someone is spontaneously injured.
Someone is usually spontaneously injured.
Grew close to UrTih over the visits and became good friends.
Worries most about UrTih, knowing how often he gets injured.
Like UrSu, just needs a break and a coffee.
Are his chants actually chants or is he just groaning in frustration? Whose to say.
UrTih the Alchemist.
My favorite.
I love him so much.
Enjoys his experiments.
Gets as lost in them as much as UrAc gets lost in his reading.
Will often forget to eat or sleep for the sake of completing an experiment.
Has caused an explosion on more than one occassion.
Was more social in his youth, began to seclude himself more as he aged.
Was closest to UrGoh and was hurt when the Wanderer left for good.
Was distressed at how often he got injured at the beginning.
Grew too used to it.
Scared UrIm half to death when he lost his eye.
One of the only times a Mystic actually cried out in pain.
Due to all the injuries, he developed Haphophobia (fear of touching/being touched)
That fear made UrIms job much harder.
UrMa found a solution.
Animals.
UrTih. LOVES. Animals.
He especially had a soft spot for birds.
Has had many, many pets over the trine.
Named all of them.
Didn't cage them, he let them come and go as they pleased.
Only animals could touch UrTih without making him flinch and cower.
Was the most excited for reunification, hoping that perhaps that would make his pain and suffering end.
UrSen the Monk.
What is "a bath"?
Something completly foreign to UrSen.
Yet something so desperately needed.
Due to SkekLach, they are sick. A lot.
Like UrTih, they get visited by UrIm. A LOT.
A stinky Mystic.
The stinkiest.
Even so, is always polite in all they do.
Almost as sweet as UrMa. Almost.
Left nothing behind except for memories when they passed.
UrAc the Scribe.
Please sleep.
Insomniac to the point where the other Mystics worry.
"When did you last sleep?" "What year is it?"
Will read and write from sunrise to sundown.
Keeps all papers mere inches away from his face.
Cannot see far away at all.
Has grown used to recognizing all Mystics merely by their voices and how they walk.
Has a book filled with nothing but the pranks that UrSol has done.
Is the most easily amused. (Probably from the insomnia)
UrAmaj the Cook.
Always with UrNol.
Always.
Is the chubbiest Mystic.
Will often sneak bites of food in the middle of cooking.
Enjoys eatting in general.
Loves to visit gardens where the food is grown.
(With UrNol, of course)
Kinda sweaty honestly.
Has to take baths a lot because of it.
Will exchange dirty jokes with UrSol and UrNol.
Loves jokes.
Does not pee on walls.
UrNol the Herbalist.
Always with UrAmaj.
Always.
Has named every single one of his plants.
All of them.
No two names are the same.
Will mourn if a plant somehow dies under his care.
Will be genuinely sad for days.
Tends to be clumsy from lack of depth perception (missing an eye).
UrAmaj is there to help and guide him.
Besides running the gardens, his room is also filled with plants.
Has many that are extremely poisonous.
Also has some that move around a lot.
Had to be told he couldn't have a plant that spits burning acid.
Was sad about that too.
UrYod the Numerologist.
Is a quiet Mystic doesn't say much....
... Unless you get him talking, in which case sit down, this will be a while.
Even UrSol gets intimidated by how much UrYod can talk.
His speech tends to be broken up and stuttery, making it difficult to understand.
Knows the exact number of everything in the Valley.
Like, everything.
One of UrSols most common pranks is asking UrYod to start listing off the numbers of various things.
Such pranks have come back to bite him on the rear on more than one occassion.
A bit of an airhead.
If he talks for long enough, he will just become lost in his thoughts and his speech will drift off until he stops talking altogether.
Always knows the time, down to the millisecond.
Gets headaches a lot. Will count down the seconds until they end.
UrUtt the Weaver.
Knows the exact measurements of all the Urru.
Also knows exactly when robes need adjusting.
Is meticulous in their designing and outfits can sometimes take many trine before they are finished.
So meticulous that they never make a mistake in their work, despite how long it takes.
Can be intimidating if another Mystic tries altering their outfits on their own.
Just don't do it.
Honestly a bit of a drama queen.
One of the only Mystics to ever care about how they look (even by Mystic standards)
Likes to change their hair every now and then.
Will put it in braids/ponytails or puts little feathers or beads in it.
UrSan the Swimmer. (Note: haven't read the books)
Chill with a hint of sass.
Has definitely eaten fish before, much to the dismay of other Urru.
Initially wasn't a fan of SkekSa having random piercings. Grew used to it and made some for herself.
Will occassionally swim around in Drenchen waters.
Partly because she likes the swamp, partly because she feels like messing with the Drenchen.
Stays away from the Sifa due to SkekSa.
Will occassionally go to land and meet up with UrVa or UrGoh.
Despite knowing it is their ultimate fate, isn't 100% subscribed to reunification.
Kinda enjoys being a Mystic.
UrLii the Storyteller.
Chose to leave the Valley on his own.
Really only liked UrSol, and even then it was merely out of enjoyment for his pranks and jokes.
Is a hoarder. A bad one.
Likely has a piece of lint from back when he was still an Urskek.
Likes the Grottans, but only in small doses.
And by small doses, he means only one at a time.
When completly alone, he will talk to himself.
To the point where he has gotten into arguments with himself.
Has also gotten to the point where he ignores himself due to the arguments.
Loves gifts and keeps every single one (hoarder)
Maudra Argot is amongst his favorite Maudra to come around during his times in the Caves.
Fairly intelligent. Doesn't share it.
Knows all of the stories of Thra, even the ones only known to the Skeksis.
Tells himself a bedtime story every night.
UrVa the Archer.
Like UrSan, has also eaten meat.
Not as often, only when he has to.
Used to visit the Valley on occassion even after he left.
Will meet up with SkekMal and sit by a fire.
Can and will have actual conversations with his Skeksis half (even if they don't always last long)
An odd truce between the two.
Likes a nice cup of tea and a leaf roll.
Is absolutely shredded by Mystic standards.
By Aughra standards, he is the hottest Mystic.
Through his travels, he began to question reunification.
Also enjoys just being a Mystic.
When bored, will do arrow tricks.
Meets up often with UrGoh.
Would still sneak visits even after UrGoh went to live at the Circle of the Suns with SkekGra.
A part of him knew that he would never become one with his other half and did his best to live life to the fullest.
UrGoh still kept one of his old teacups.
UrGoh the Wanderer.
Cares for SkekGra even past their bond.
Knows where to go, no idea how to get there.
Will visit the same place many times just to see what changed.
Would visit the Valley and bring gifts and stories of his travels.
Had the most gifts for UrTih, knowing the Alchemist would find the most value in what he had to give.
Speaks slowly as his thoughts tend to wander, leaving him already moving onto the next thing while in the middle of a sentence.
Began to move and speak slower after SkekGra got a nail to the head.
It was his idea to make the puppet shows.
If his clothes ripped during his travels, he would be the one to sew them up, much to UrUtts dismay.
Likes physical affection and cuddles.
Loves to sing for the sake of singing rather than always singing for chants.
Has made up many of his own songs over the trine.
Might do a headcanons list with the Skeksis too, I dunno yet.

Alternative Skeksis/UrRu Star Signs (Age of Resistance)
I know a zodiac list already exists for the skeksis but I wanted to create one of my own from what I understand of the characters and their personalities, including the UrRu also. It’s a Dark Crystal spin on the zodiac. I tried to stay as true to the characters as possible, coinciding with zodiac traits.
Enjoy ✨💖

1,6,9 for ZokVar!
ah yes, my favorite Skeksis pair, Frollo and the Brick
... i say, right before getting unnecessarily fake-deep about cartoonishly evil birds,
1. Where in Thra would their ideal date be?
Knowing Zok’s... Everything, he’d probably prefer to go somewhere out-of-the-way, for a week or two relieved of Castle duties. In theory, anyway. Things like camping or vacations outside of the Empire are out of the question; while he enjoys privacy, he would probably starve to death if Ayuk’s team wasn’t cooking for him (and everyone else), or at least bringing him lazy food. Var might fare a bit better, because he’s built like a wrecking ball and knows how to use that to hurt things, but even if he did learn how to hunt with any semblance of skill, the lack of other creature comforts would still be a disaster waiting to happen. Besides, he doesn’t want to stray too far from the Emperor’s side, and it would be a pain trying to call a carriage back home from the middle of nowhere if he received word of an emergency with the Guard or Court. They need distance from big gatherings, but enough access to be back on the road in under an hour, just in case.
With those limitations in mind, they’d probably find some secluded spot just north of Ha’Rar on the cliffs - ideally, somewhere with a view of both land and sea, as Var gets stressed when he can’t get a read on his surroundings quickly. Though they’d be careful not to let many people know where they are, they also need access to first aid on short notice.
I’m sure I don’t have to explain why that’s a concern, when one of these guys is a creepy, knife-collecting priest infamous for being Horny On Main 24/7, and the other is a reckless, eager-to-please soldier with pain tolerance for days. After all, the main motive for choosing a spot out-of-the-way is that less foot traffic means lower chances of someone passing by and asking questions about whatever they might overhear. They really don’t want to know.
6. If Skeksis or Mystics, how do their other halves feel about the relationship?
UrZah is... Unamused. He doesn’t know urMa terribly well - they never could see eye-to-eye on anything from clothing colors to whether or not Unity was even worth the wait - and doesn’t think highly of him at all. He’s not all that surprised by skekVar setting his expectations even lower; urMa is gullible, starry-eyed and far too willing to waste his time and effort on things that have absolutely no bearing on his own success, but at least he has the sense not to go out and commit horrendous acts of violence in the name of an Empire doomed to crash and burn for its crimes. At least urMa hasn’t given up on his naïve dreams of world peace or whatever he’s always going on about in favor of the fleeting, bloody attention of two powerful Lords who have him wrapped around their little fingers and (as far as urZah can tell) would just as quickly lose interest, break him down and leave him for whatever starved beast may take pity as continue to bend the limits of his trust for their own entertainment.
Truth be told, he loathes his mirror even more, knowing that skekZok has had a hand in turning the ever-optimistic, ever-foolish Ambassador into just another murderous beast like the other Skeksis.
The Peacemaker doesn’t exactly see much potential for good in the pair, either, but he doesn’t think it’s necessarily as manipulative as urZah does. Whether that’s because urMa trusts too easily (or so it appears) or because he knows his mirror better than any other Mystic ever will, he doesn’t seem interested in skekVar’s affairs, and changes the subject whenever it comes up.
This isn’t the first time VarMa has been in a shady relationship - far from it, actually. Back then, though, it never lasted long enough for him to regret much. He was lonely and easily swayed, but he always knew it wasn’t permanent, even in the rare occasions it had any emotional weight. As an expendable soldier - a future killing machine at best, cannon fodder at worst - he, along with everyone else he had the pleasure of working with, knew they could be transferred at any time, assuming they lived through the night. Not everyone was kind or patient, but they were useful as distractions.
UrMa isn’t happy with himself for that, but he knows, at the time, it seemed like a good idea, and it was probably a good thing he learned his lesson before getting in too deep. SkekVar, apparently, doesn’t share the sentiment; it appears that the General is still just as desperate for attention as ever, although at least now he knows what kinds he wants.
9. Who is the big spoon/little spoon?
This one’s always easy. A little more complicated than the Jen/Kira answer, though - not because I’m overly invested in this semi-rarepair, this time, but because usually there are three parties involved rather than two.
SkekVar’s sort of a middle spoon; once in a while he’ll give that spot up so skekSo can take it, but So gets uncomfortable with that arrangement fast, because he hates seeing Zok’s horrible shrimp-leg teeth when he’s trying to catch some beauty sleep. Besides, all that muscle makes for a great pillow at the right angle, which means they prefer to have him right in the middle, and if he’s not, one or both of them will get fussy and/or handsy until he moves so they’re comfortable again.
When it’s just them, Var usually holds So, since the Emperor is so much lighter than him and the General is big enough to more or less “shield” him from anything that So used to think in the early days might sneak up and hurt him; besides, Var gets worried about him being so thin, and it’s a passable excuse to check that he’s not getting any tinier. While he’s with just Zok, though, he’ll generally just fall asleep quickly and let the Ritual-Master figure out the rest. Zok almost always ends up with as many gangly arms around Var as possible. He’s territorial as all hell, and - whether he’ll ever admit it or not - that possessive streak gives way to sappy shows of affection pretty easily, as long as they’re alone.

Estonia: Full Text of Pope’s Remarks to Ecumenical Meeting of Youth
‘Let us ask for the apostolic strength to bring the Gospel to others.’
the remarks by Pope Francis during his September 25, 2018, Ecumenical Meeting with young people, in the Kaarli Lutheran Church, Tallinn.
The Holy Father’s Address
Dear Young People,
Thank you for your warm welcome, for your songs and for the testimonies of Lisbel, Tauri and Mirko. I am grateful to the Archbishop of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church, Urmas Viilma, for his kind words of welcome, and for the presence of Archbishop Andres Põder, President of the Estonian Council of Churches, of Bishop Philippe Jourdan, Apostolic Administrator in Estonia, and of the other representatives from the different Christian confessions present in the country. I am also grateful for the presence of Madam President of the Republic.
It is always good to meet, to share our life stories, and to share with one another our thoughts and hopes; it is wonderful, too, for us to come together as believers in Jesus Christ. These meetings bring to fulfillment that dream of Jesus at the Last Supper: “That they may all be one, […] so that the world may believe” (Jn 17:21). If we try to see ourselves as pilgrims journeying together, we will learn how to entrust our heart to our traveling companions without fear and distrust, looking only to what we all truly seek: peace in the presence of the one God. Just as crafting peace is an art, so too, learning to trust one another is also an art and a source of happiness: “Blessed are the peacemakers” (Mt 5:9). And we do not go on this road, on this path only with believers, but with all. All have something to say to us. We have something to say to all.
The great painting in the apse of this church contains a phrase from the Gospel of Saint Matthew: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28). You, as young Christians, can identify with some elements in this passage of the Gospel.
In the preceding narrations, Matthew tells us that Jesus is accumulating disappointments. First He laments because it seems that those who heard Him simply did not understand what He was trying to say (cf. Mt 11:16-19). Frequently you too, as young people, can feel that the adults around you do not appreciate your hopes and desires; sometimes, when they see you very happy, they get suspicious; and if they see you anxious about something, they downplay it. In the consultation prior to the forthcoming Synod, in which we will reflect on young people, many of you expressed the desire to have a companion along the way, someone who can understand you without judging and can listen to you as well as respond to your questions (cf. Synod on Young People, Instrumentum Laboris, 132). Our Christian Churches – and I would dare say this of every institutionally structured religious process – at times bring attitudes that make it easier for us to talk, give advice, speak from our own experience, rather than listen, rather than be challenged and learn from what you are experiencing. Many times Christian communities close themselves, without realizing it, and do not listen to your anxieties. We know that you want and expect “to be accompanied not by an unbending judge, or by a fearful and hyper-protective parent who generates dependence, but by someone who is not afraid of his weakness and is able to make the treasure shine that, like an earthen vessel, it holds within (cf. 2 Cor 4:7)” (ibid., 142). Today, I am here to tell you that we want to mourn with you when you mourn, to accompany your joys with our applause and our laughter, and to help you to be followers of the Lord. You, boys and girls, young people, know this: when a Christian community is truly Christian, it does not engage in proselytism. It only listens, welcomes, accompanies and walks, but does not impose anything.
Jesus also complains about the cities He visited, where he worked great miracles and demonstrated signs of great tenderness and closeness, and He deplores their inability to see that the change He came to bring was urgent and not to be delayed. He even says that they are more stubborn and obdurate than Sodom (cf. Mt 11:20-24). When we adults refuse to acknowledge some evident reality, you tell us frankly: “Can’t you see this?” Some of you who are a bit more forthright might even say to us: “Don’t you see that nobody is listening to you anymore, or believes you?” We ourselves need truly to be converted; we have to realize that in order to stand by your side we need to change many situations that, in the end, put you off.
We know – as you have told us – that many young people do not turn to us for anything because they don’t feel we have anything meaningful to say to them for their existence. This is awful. When a Church, a community, behaves in such a way that young people think: “They won’t say anything to me that will help me in my life.” In fact, some of them expressly ask us to leave them alone, because they feel the Church’s presence as bothersome or even irritating. And this is true. They are upset by sexual and economic scandals that do not meet with clear condemnation, by our unpreparedness or simply the passive role we assign them (cf. Synod on Young People, Instrumentum Laboris, 66). These are just a few of your complaints. We want to respond to them; as you yourselves put it, we want to be a “transparent, welcoming, honest, inviting, communicative, accessible, joyful and interactive community” (ibid. 67), namely, a community without fear. Fears close us. Fear drives us to be proselytes.  And fraternity is something else: an open heart and fraternal embrace.
Before coming to the evangelical text that dominates this church, Jesus breaks out in praise of the Father. He does so because He realizes that those who did understand, who did grasp the meaning of His message and his person, are the little ones, those that have a simple, open mind. Seeing all of you like this, gathered as one and singing together, I add my own voice to that of Jesus and I marvel that, for all our lack of witness, you continue to discover Jesus in the heart of our communities. Because we know that where Jesus is, there is always renewal; there are always new opportunities for conversion and for leaving behind everything that separates us from Him and from our brothers. Where Jesus is, life always has the flavor of the Holy Spirit. You, here today, reflect something of the marvel that Jesus felt.
So yes, let us repeat His words: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Mt 11:28). But let us say them in the conviction that, beyond all our limitations and divisions, Jesus is still the reason for our being here. We know no greater peace of mind can be found than by letting Jesus carry our burdens. We also know that many people still do not know Him and live in sadness and loss. One of your famous singers, about ten years ago, said about one of her songs: “Love is dead, love has gone, love no longer lives here” (Kerli Koiv, Love is dead). No, please! Let us make love be alive, and we must all do this! And there are so many who have this experience: they see that the love of their parents ends, that the love of newlyweds dissolves; they feel profound pain when no one cares that they must emigrate to look for work or when they are regarded with suspicion because they are foreigners. It might seem that love is dead, as Kerli Koiv said, but we know that it is not and that we have a word to say, a message to bring, with few words and many actions, for you are the generation of images, the generation of action, more than speculation and theory.
And that is how Jesus likes it because He went about doing good, and when dying He preferred the striking message of the crossover mere words. We are united by our faith in Jesus, and He is waiting for us to bring Him to all those young people whose lives are no longer meaningful. And the risk is, also for us t0 believe, to lose the meaning of life. And this happens when we believers are inconsistent. Let us accept together that newness that God brings to our life, that newness that impels us to set out anew to all those places where humanity is most wounded. Wherever men and women, beneath the appearance of a shallow conformity, continue to seek an answer to the question of life’s meaning. Yet we will never go alone: God comes with us; “He is unafraid of the fringes, He himself became a fringe (cf. Phil 2:6-8; Jn 1:14). If we have the courage to go out of ourselves, of our egoism, of our closed ideas and go to the fringes, we will find Him there, because Jesus precedes us in the life of a suffering and discarded brother. He is already there (cf. Apostolic Exhortation Gaudete et Exsultate, 135).
Boys and girls, love is not dead. It calls us and sends us forth. It only asks that we open our heart. Let us ask for the apostolic strength to bring the Gospel to others – but to offer it, not impose it — and to resist the tendency to see our Christian life as if it were a museum of memories. The Christian life is life, is future, is hope! It’s not a museum. May the Holy Spirit help us to contemplate history in the light of the risen Jesus, so that the Church, so that our Churches will be able to continue to go forward welcoming in them the Lord’s surprises (cf. ibid, 139), recovering their youthfulness, the joy, and beauty of which Mirko spoke, of the Bride that goes to meet the Lord – the Lord’s surprises. The Lord surprises us because life surprises us always. Let us go forward, to meet these surprises. Thank you!

Tell me about,,, ursu
Of course!! This will be especially fun for me as I’m almost done Redesigning UrSu!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s some previews of my progress!
Anyways, Let’s begin shall we?
UrSu the Master
UrSu has lead a long and interesting life on Thra, Being the UrRu who took up the heavy burden of leadership during the Age of Division. Leading the Mystics to the Valley of stones, that would later become their home, The Valley of the Mystics. As leader and friend, Ursu was unrivaled. Although like anyone, he was not without his flaws. UrSu is oftentimes stubborn. Once he has made his mind about something he won’t change his mind just by asking him over a nice cup of Ta.
Although there are some decisions that he has made that have resulted in tragedy. These events that went poorly weigh heavy on the Mystic’s heart to this day.
UrSu was a patient leader. (Although some may say too patient) And didn’t mind if things took longer to complete. He believed everyone needed to work at their own pace. Although he didn’t use this to excuse laziness. Like a strict Father, if one of his fellow UrRu was doing something wrong, or not doing their part, he would be there to correct them.
Speaking of being like a father, UrSu treats the Mystics as if they are his younglings. With a certain two being the problem children. *COUGH* *COUGH* UrGoh and UrSan He has had many arguments with the two. Especially UrGoh. His relationship with The Wanderer is one of frustrated miscommunication.
He was good friends with UrMa the Peacemaker and UrZah the Ritual Guardian.
UrMa, while being somewhat of a traveler to prevent fighting and discord amongst the inhabitants of Thra, always made a habit to visit him. Although UrMa wasn’t the wisest or the smartest, he did have a way with words. And was a shoulder to lean on when UrSu needed to discuss his worries to. Although it seems that UrMa isn’t coming back anytime soon…
UrZah is also a close friend of The Master. Being like a second leader since day 1. Always looking out for his brothers and sisters. UrZah is very loyal to UrSu and will often pray for him. The two have a formal, but well maintained relationship.
UrSu is very aware of the damage his other half has caused and laments over it. Praying for forgiveness for the deeds SkekSo has commited. Because in a way, the horrendous acts that The Emperor commits are his as well.
UrSu found Jen when he was second guessing his decision to live alone with all the other mystics. Because of his choice to stay in the valley, the other Mystics who wandered off or tried to protect the others were killed. And only Ten of the original Eighteen remained. As well as the utter extermination of the gelfling… Or so he thought. UrSu the Master found Jen in a demolished ruin he came across when he heard the sound of crying. The poor baby was alone and helpless with no one to turn to, and about to be killed by vicious Garthim. Who had presumably killed the childling’s parents and destroyed their home. UrSu Repelled the Garthim and saved the child. Holding him close in his arms as he calmed down the poor infant.
UrSu’s favorite memories consist of the time he shared with Jen. Even though the two weren’t biologically related, he loved him just as much as a real father. His last moments were that of peace. Holding hands with his one and only son.
(Bonus!) In my redesign the tip of UrSu’s snout has rotted away much like SkekSo’s has in AoR. Although, unlike SkekSo, it has not been corrupted by the darkening. He wears a linen covering over his snout to prevent the exposed bone from getting infected. And unlike the Skeksis with The Emperor, all the mystics know about his condition.
Thanks for reading this far and i hope you enjoyed!
I love your User name by the way! @thewiglesswonder Its silly and it made my day!
