Hisoka: My first choice was to choose a concept and serve the customers like the Actor’s Café. By the way, I’ve already rejected the idea for poetry reading.

Chikage: I can… tell easily whose suggestion that was.

Hisoka: You work for a trading company, so you’ve met a lot of people and seen a lot of different plans. Do you have any good ideas?

Chikage: …You should start by thinking about why they chose Journey for their Christmas plans.

Hisoka: The reason they chose Journey…

Chikage: It’s because they like Journey they way it is, right? They purposely chose it because they like the atmosphere, customer service, and the drinks there. Making a huge change would miss the point.

Hisoka: …I see. I guess you’re right.

Hisoka: Thanks.

Waiter: And here is your seasonal special blended coffee. Right now we’re serving La Magie du Noel… We only serve this during the Christmas season. Please have these with your drinks as well. I hope you relax and enjoy your meal.

Hisoka: It’s gingerbread. It’s not covered in sugar, so even you can eat it, right?

Chikage: It still looks sweet though. And the smell of your hot chocolate is making it worse.

Hisoka: What was the name of your coffee again?

Chikage: La Magie du Noel. It means “the magic of Christmas” in French.

Hisoka: The magic of Christmas—. … “If the falling snow was warm like the sun, and the chimes of the bells ringing through the town were words of love—"

Chikage: “The world would be a kinder place.”

Hisoka: …You remember?

Chikage: Of course. I was told not to forget.

Hisoka: That brings back memories. …Remember, back then—.

August: Welcome.

Child A: Hello!

Child B: Which one should I get~.

December: …There’s a lot of customers today even though the Halloween season is over.

April: It’s his fault for making up that “cookies that grant your wish” thing. Who knows when he’s going to get sued.

Child C: Misha! Are you still selling the cookies that grant wishes?

Citron and Itaru are up to something again and they pull in Chikage to join in their antics.

Part 1

Izumi Chikage-san, should I prepare dinner for you tonight? Chikage Sure, I’m headed out after this but I’ll be back by evening. I’ll be here for dinner. Itaru Then, that means you’ll be back pretty early today, huh… Citron It looks like everyone is here! Izumi Huh? Citron-kun, isn’t that the script for “The Wonderful Charlatan of Oz”? Citron That it is! Itaru “The Wonderful Charlatan of Oz” well, isn’t that just nostalgic. Chikage It hasn’t been that long since I last starred in a play. Izumi But, why do you have the script on you? Citron I have felt like reading up on our past scripts just now. Then I recalled how fun it was to play the role of the Wizard of the North in the play. So, I was itching to play the role again and convincing people to join me! Chikage That explains it. Itaru Can’t deny that it was pretty fun being a wizard. Citron Reading the script now, I think about how I could have moved differently during this line. Chikage I get it, I did what I could back then, but now that I got more experience, I’m sure I can execute it better. Izumi I also have stuff I wish I’ve done better, like the staging. Itaru Now that we’re talking about it, I kinda wanna play the Wizard of the West… Citron Oh! I have finally dragged someone to act with! Itaru, do an etude with me! Itaru No problemo. Citron Chikage as well!? Chikage Sorry to disappoint, I was just on my way out. Citron Oh, how unfortunate! Then, it will be Itaru and I against the world! Let us make haste! Chikage I’ll take that as my cue to leave too. Izumi Take care, everyone!

Itaru “‘O infamous one who eats away at nations, answer my call of resurrection and come forth before me.” Citron “Halt, Wizard of the West!” Itaru “I summon you… Grosser Zatan!” Citron Stand over here, Chikage. Chikage You mean on this magic circle…? Itaru “The summoning is a success! Now the land will bow before me.” Chikage (I feel Chigasaki’s line of sight on me…) (I see… I’ve been summoned by the Wizard of the West as the one to take over the nation.) (Looks like I’ll have to go along with this…)

Part 3

Citron “Aah… It is too late… The Wizard of the West has manifested upon us a being of undeniable evil.” Itaru “Grosser Zatan, from here on out, you will assist me in ruling this land for the taking.” Chikage No can do. Citron “Wizard of the West, and Grosser Zatan, you shall not torment this land and its people any longer!” Chikage (The illusion of free will. I got no choice.) (Guess I’ll just go with these two’s etude and get it over with.) Sigh… “That is correct. I am who they call Grosser Zatan. Who dares summon me?” Itaru “It is I, yes. Lend me your strength, and we shall be the rulers of this nation.” Citron “Not as long as I am around! Grosser Zatan, return to the magic circle!” Chikage “I decide what I am to do with my power. I will not let mere wizards dictate my actions.” “Wizard of the West, for my power, what do you offer me in return?” Itaru “Fuu… It appears that you won’t help out for free.” “How interesting, that’s the Great Lord of Darkness Grosser Zatan for you.” “Very well. In exchange for your power, I offer up my soul!” Citron “You’ll not only destroy the country, but yourself if you continue on with this!” Itaru “Would love nothing more.” Citron “Wizard of the West!” Chikage “Your soul, huh… not bad at all. I might consider this deal…” Itaru Ah… Chikage …? Citron Director!? Chikage Ahh, in the flesh. How long have you been here, Director-san? Izumi Umm, I’m sorry for interrupting! I thought you heard me knock. Itaru I didn’t notice at all… Chikage Don’t worry about it. I’m glad you came actually. Izumi Eh, how come? Chikage If Director-san hadn’t come, I probably would have stayed as a summoned entity for a while.

Izumi You know, Chikage-san pulls off such villainous roles so well. I should try talking Tsuzuru-kun into getting you in a role like that next time. Itaru He doesn’t even need to act. Chikage In exchange for giving you power, shall I wipe your face off this land? Itaru I’ll pass. Citron Join in on us, Director! Itaru Come on, let’s do it Director-san. Izumi Huh, me too!? Chikage Wait a second, you came here for something, right, Director-san? Izumi Ah, that’s right! I finished preparing Chikage-san’s meal and I wondered what was up since you weren’t in sight. That’s why I came to check up on you. Chikage Oh yeah, I asked you to warm it up. I’ll go and have dinner then. Izumi But aren’t you in the middle of an etude? Chikage The food will get cold so that’s it for the etude for now. I can just have another etude with Chigasaki and Citron any other time, so it’ll be fine. Omi: Some coincidences not wanted just happen at the same time… 

Chikage: You said they’re a gang of thieves right. They might be even more difficult to deal with than one-man crime. 

Misumi: But I’m glad none of us got injured~.

Gaku: It’s because Misumi-san saved me. Thank you so much.

Kai: Me too, I don’t know what would’ve happened if Chikage-san hadn’t come… Thank you.

Omi: And Fuyuki-san, you said you were busy with the investigation right…

Fuyuki: That’s right. Actually there have been a lot of theft cases with the same tricks around here lately––. According to the eyewitness testimonies, this thieves gang is made up of the young guys who run away quickly.

Kai: In other words, the snatched handbag was back, but Chikage-san’s belongings were stolen instead…

Chikage: You don’t need to worry about that. I made it myself so it’s not a big deal.

Izumi: Eh…? What was stolen? 

Chikage: It’s… a secret. Well, I’ll get it back soon.

Izumi: (There’s even a way to get it back!? I wonder what he is planning to do…)

Omi: Misumi’s stuffs also got stolen?

[Minor Spy x Family season 1 spoilers in the form of character descriptions and mentions of a season 2 episode title]

I think Chikage would make a really funny Loid Forger.

Imagine him in charge of this small pink-haired telepath who lies about her age and reads his mind to finish a crossword puzzle.

Papa is a major liar indeed.

I'm convinced he would end up much like Twilight though. I mean, a different pink-haired person already captured his heart through grandsonly charm. As cold as he presents himself, Chikage is rather soft-hearted.

That won't stop him from being an absolute drill sergeant of a tutor towards his child though. After all, he can be very single-minded in regards to missions. At least, until the kid finds out that he is surprisingly easy to manipulate with a sad face. "One episode of 'Spy Wars'," he claims, not realizing that he has revealed his weakness.

At least he's also more than willing to break the rules, so while it would be nice if stellas could be earned naturally, a few adjusted tests and contrived situations to speed up the process are far from beneath him. Just as long as his new family isn't in danger.

However, the Forger-Utsuki's better have stomachs of steel. If he's still the only parent that cooks... *side eyes the spice cabinet*

I'm sure he's trained in non-spicy cooking, but whether he remembers the first time he cooks for someone besides himself is another question. He makes sure to keep milk stocked in the fridge now, after having to awkwardly comfort his new adoptee as they sobbed through the pain.

It's also funny to imagine Chikage shocked and fearing that he's losing his edge when an assass- office worker appears behind him without him noticing. And yet he somehow cones to the conclusion they are his best spousal candidate.

Let alone the concept of him living with a large, affectionate dog. Consider, the first part of episode 27 [BOND'S STRATEGY TO STAY ALIVE] with Chikage.

I just want him to suffer the same confusion that Loid does from applying normal person logic to his abnormal family.

An alternative I considered was Tenma, but that's my 4th-wall-breaker side kicking in. Though he does fit the fluster!

Thanks to @ikebo-simp for reminding me that Chikage is, in fact, not immune to the wet puppy dog eyes.

Guy: No, a customer just left an aroma candle for me as a souvenir they got from overseas.

Hisoka: (The scent is sweet, but also a bit spicy… I feel like I’ve bought this before somewhere… what was it again?)

Guy: You can have it if you’ve taken a liking to it.

Hisoka: Sure… but I wonder if I’ll use it…

Hisoka: I’ll get it. —Hello, you’ve reached “BAR Journey”.

saw this post by @icharchivist showcasing official art of granblue fantasy characters in eyewear and went huh. one of them has a distinctly chikage-esque expression. so I had to draw it before the thought left my mind. picked his hairstyle from knights of the round iv bc it fit the mood and also he’s got red eyes as that character.

Chikage

Starring as a lead actor again since the 4th performance… it’s been a while and there’s some pressure, but I’ll be doing my best, of course.

Misumi and Tsumugi view the moon together every now and then.

They sometimes watch it while eating sweets and exchanging stories and legends about the moon.

There are many moon-themed works in the world. In Japan, “The Tale of Taketori” is famous, and there are many classic waka poems about the moon.

Perhaps it is because of the fact that looking at the moon reminds us of many things, that various legends and works of art are born.
