I collaborated with @vannahfanfics and @shalia-earante for @bnhaFantasyBang on twitter to make some angsty fantasy au Tsuburaba/Tsuyu (I swear there’s a happy end in the sequel!)
This first piece goes along with @shalia-earante ‘s fic, so please check it out:
In Every Lifetime by shalia_earante
Tsuburaba Kosei is out hunting for food for his family when he takes a nap by a pond in the woods. When he wakes up, he realizes someone... or something... is watching him. Out of curiosity, he attempts to befriend the creature. He was not expecting to fall in love. But despair looms on the horizon. Children in neighboring villages have gone missing, and something is responsible. Kosei is a normal human. Tsuyu is a nixie. They fall in love, but fate was not on their side in this lifetime.
(Then make sure to also read Vannah’s sequel Athanasia, and check out the art I did for it here!)

Safe
Tumblr media
Word Count: 2180
Fluff, Romance, Humor, Flirting
Summary:  It had been a long time since Kaina had felt safe. But she was finally beginning to feel so, at least with Toshinori around.
Hello, everyone! Here is my story for the @ladynagantbigbang! This is my first try at some LadyMight, so I hope you all enjoy the newest rarepair. :) Also be sure to check out my partner @sparrowwings-trash-backyard‘s cute art! This is Vannah, over and out!
Beep-beep. Beep-beep. Beep-beep.
Kaina had been in the hospital too long. The rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor had become like a lullaby to her, easing her into the comfortable twilight of half-sleep far too easily. Despite the glaring white light of the fluorescents that the nurse had not yet turned off burning against her closed eyes, Kaina found herself drifting into drowsiness with little trouble. She’d convinced the nurse to open the window at least a little—after such an extended stay with still such grievous wounds, it was unlikely that Kaina would make it far in an attempted escape, but they still worried. The cool night wind fluttered the white curtains, gentle whip-whip-whips that were quiet in the background of the repetitive trills of the machine hooked to Kaina’s finger.
Kaina’s head lolled on her shoulder to bury further into the soft, downy pillow. Just as her eyes were fluttering closed again, the sliding door to her room rattled and slowly opened.
All Might.
Toshinori smiled apologetically when she opened her eyes, and he murmured, “Sorry. Did I wake you?”
“No,” she reassured him. She boosted herself up onto her elbows, trying to wiggle her way up to lean against the headboard, but she only succeeded in sending white-hot pain searing through her nerves. Her face twisted into an agonized grimace, prompting Toshinori to rush to her side.
“Please, let me help you.” His touch was gentle on her elbow and the small of her back. With movements much softer than one would think of those big hands, he helped her scoot up the length of the bed so she could rest comfortably against the headboard. After slipping the pillows behind her back and head, he smiled kindly. “Better?”
“Yes, thank you.”
He continued to give her that bashful lilt of his lips as he eased down into the chair next to her bed. The nurses had stopped moving it, considering he always moved it back when he came to visit… almost every single day. At first, she thought he had just been assigned babysitting duty. But that didn’t seem the case anymore. Instead, it felt like he was visiting because he wanted to.
It had been over a month now, yet Kaina still couldn’t riddle him out. One would think All Might of all people would be the simplest of men… But she was finding that he was more complex than anyone she had ever known.
Why would he want to visit her? After all she had done…
Tumblr media
“Lady Nagant?”
Kaina flinched at the name. She didn’t know if she wanted to be called that anymore. She was no hero… and she didn’t want to be known as a villain, either. Toshinori recognized her discomfort and narrowed his eyes. Leaning forward, he timidly asked, “I’m sorry… Is there something else you would like me to call you?”
“Kaina,” she murmured. “Please… Call me Kaina.”
“Kaina,” he repeated. It sounded like he was rolling it over on his tongue, appreciating the weight of it; from the tiny smile that grew on his lips, he rather liked it. He leaned back in the chair, relaxing against the back of it. “Very well. How are you feeling today, Kaina?”
She looked around idly. She wasn’t doing much better or worse than any other day she had been in the hospital. But…
“I’m feeling a little better now that you’re here,” she said quietly. Her feelings about heroes and hero society notwithstanding, she did enjoy his company. It was much better than laying all alone in her hospital lamenting her many, many mistakes. He was softspoken and kind… and nonjudgmental. Of all people she had ever met, Toshinori still looked at her like she was a person.
Just like him, she thought with a wry smile. It’s very obvious that Toshinori is Izuku’s mentor. He’d insisted the first time he’d come to see her, when her flesh was still black with soot from her body exploding from the inside out.
“I’m not All Might anymore,” he’d chuckled, a lilt of sadness in his smile. “Toshinori is fine.”
It had taken her a very long time to return the favor, but apparently, he was quite pleased with the development.
Toshinori blushed at her comment and reached around the back of his head to bashfully rub the back of his neck. It made Kaina’s lips pull into a smirk; surely All Might of all people was used to being flirted with? The image of the big, burly hero growing flustered at a woman’s demure advances made her chuckle. She didn’t mean to do it aloud, and it didn’t go unnoticed, either.
“I’m sorry, is something funny?” Toshinori asked with a shy grin.
“Ah, forgive me,” Kaina said with an apologetic smile. “You just seemed so flustered by what I said. I couldn’t help but laugh; it’s so endearing.” She didn’t want him to think that she was laughing at him, but the entire premise was simply too cute. She never thought that she would be thinking that All Might of all people was cute, but then again, everything about her life was topsy-turvy lately. She never thought she’d get out of Tartarus, nor did she think she would ever associate herself with hero society ever again… But here she was.
Times were strange indeed.
“Endearing, huh?” Toshinori continued to grin sheepishly. “Can’t say I’ve heard that one before.”
“Really?” Kaina couldn’t help but ask. After this was the Symbol of Peace, the pinnacle of all heroes. She would have thought that women would be throwing themselves at him left and right. Even in his “skinny form,” Kaina couldn’t help but think that he was just downright charming. “You can’t be telling me that the great All Might hasn’t been flirted with at least a few times in his life.”
“Well, I certainly have in my muscular form…” he admitted, his grin turning into a bit of a smirk. “But not so much in this one, especially since I’ve retired.” His expression then turned sad, shoulders sagging and smile fading from his angular face. “Now everyone just acts as if they pity me.”
“There’s nothing to pity,” Kaina huffed in indignance. Just him saying that he experienced such a thing made her blood boil! She poked her lips out in a sour pout. “What, so you can’t puff up your muscles and throw buildings around anymore so they think you’re a decrepit old-timer? The nerve of some people.”
Toshinori barked out a laugh, his head falling back and his shoulders shaking. Kaina was totally serious, but she supposed her brusque delivery could be seen as amusing. When he dropped his head back down to look at her again, she was relieved to see that the sparkle had returned to his eyes.
“Well, I’m glad at least someone feels that way,” he said. “I may not be able to ‘throw buildings around’ anymore, but I like to think that I still have things to offer.” His expression turned a bit wistful, prompting Kaina to raise an eyebrow.
“Oh? So you do want to find someone?” She had only been teasing, really; she definitely pinned Toshinori as one of those “married to his work” types, even if he was no longer at the forefront of the hero scene. After all, he was a full-time instructor at U.A., and she was sure that handling such a spirited protegé as Izuku Midoriya was another full-time job in itself. Honestly, she would expect romantic pursuits to be the furthest thing from Toshinori’s mind.
“I mean, doesn’t everybody?” he shrugged, expression growing bashful again. “I’ll admit, it took a spot on the back burner when I was younger, and there wasn’t much time for it when I was an active hero… Not to mention all the risks associated with, you know, being me,” he said with a vague gesture to his person. Kaina was sure that there was much more to it than just his relationship with All for One, but she wasn’t going to pry. The man was entitled to his secrets as much as anyone else.
“But now…?” she pressed gently.
“But now,” Toshinori echoed with a small smile, “I’ve rearranged the priorities in my life. Sooner or later, Izuku and the others will completely take over the mantle… All Might won’t be needed any longer. But that doesn’t mean I still don’t have plenty of life left to live, nor that I want to live it out alone.”
Kaina smiled softly at that. Indeed, Toshinori was much deserving of a nice, peaceful retirement and, even more, the ability to share it with someone who understood his struggles.
“What about you?” Toshinori suddenly asked. Kaina looked owlishly at him. What about her? “I mean, you’re…” He made that vague gesture once more, this time at Kaina. She smirked in amusement; it was cute, how he was trying to politely imply that she was up in age so as not to offend her. “I-I mean, did you have someone before, you know…?” He trailed off again, sputtered a few things, and then hid his bright red face in his hands. “I’m sorry…” he grumbled in mortification.
“Don’t apologize!” Kaina laughed. Toshinori peered doubtfully at her through the gaps in his fingers. “Really, it’s quite all right. I know what you mean.” She turned to look out the window, eyes growing lidded as she watched the wind play with the wispy curtains. “But there’s nothing to tell, really. I guess I’m a lot like you.” She inhaled deeply through her nose, then let it out through her mouth. “When I was young, everything came second to being the best hero I could… And then the world came crashing down around me. I wasn’t really thinking about anything aside from dismantling the corrupt hero society that the Commission had fostered.”
Kaina then turned to give him a roguish smirk.
“And, I’m sure you’re aware, but prison isn’t exactly the best place to pursue romance. You’re not exactly dealing with the cream of the crop.”
Toshinori barked out another laugh and said, “No, I imagine not. I can only imagine the small talk—‘So, what are you in for? Really? Me too! What a coincidence! Surely we’re meant to be.’”
They both erupted into laughter. As the joyful cackles wracked Kaina’s frame, she couldn’t help but wonder how long it had been since she had felt like this—uninhibited, untethered, free. Though the laughter made her sore muscles twinge in protest, Kaina made no effort to stop. It just felt so good. She didn’t have her worries or her woes; she didn’t have the crushing weight of her past mistakes weighing down on her. No, she only had this feeling, this moment of total abandon to simply enjoy being alive.
It had been far too long since Kaina had been grateful to be alive. The realization of that feeling came spilling over in the form of tears, running thick and free down her cheeks. But she didn’t try to stop those, either. It was okay to cry, she realized now, especially when you were happy. Emotions were good. They were a sign that you were human. And Kaina wanted to be human again, so so badly.
The gentle brush of Toshinori’s thumb over her wet cheek pulled Kaina out of her sense of heady euphoria. She looked at him through her watery eyes to see him smiling kindly at her. A smile was a hero’s best asset, she’d been told long ago. A smile is the best thing to make people feel at ease, and that was what a hero was supposed to do—make people feel safe. Kaina hadn’t felt safe in a long, long time—but she did now, sitting next to this man. And this man wasn’t All Might, Symbol of Peace.
It was Toshinori Yagi, the man who had taken the time to see her.
“Toshinori?” she murmured.
“Hmm?” he just hummed in response. His gaze was trained on her face, focusing on gently sweeping her tears away. Kaina reached up to place her hand over the top of his, halting his movements. She curled her fingers around his, and a smile grew on her lips as she leaned in close to him.
“Thank you,” she said, and then she pressed a soft, chaste kiss to his lips. She held it for just a second or two before pulling away and fluttering her lashes demurely at him. It took Toshinori a few seconds to compute what exactly had just happened—and then his face flushed the color of a tomato.
“O-oh, you’re, erm, you’re welcome,” he stammered. His big hand twitched in hers, probably wanting to do a million things at once; he settled for softly cupping her cheek. With a soft hum, Kaina closed her eyes and leaned into his touch. His palm was rough and calloused, but she still adored the feel of it against her skin.
For in his hands, Kaina knew she was the safest she ever could be.

Pride
The last time we saw the Harrises, Willow has just graduated High School and was on vacation week before starting her first term. This time we wake up along with Leo while he calls the gang to go on their Pride trip!
"San Sequoia awaits! I hope you guys are ready!"
Tumblr media
Leo, Marcos, Dani, Molly, Ash and Kevin were gonna spend the weekend at a cool SimsBnB they found right next to the bridge! Sid and Vannah were in Britechester at a Summer course prepping for their senior year.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe in the end, for the siblings, it was the best, since this has sort of become a couple's vacay! Ash and Kev had this thing going on for a while, but being away from her mom maybe was what Molly needed to give the next step with Dani...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That afternoon, the gang went to the movies to watch the new live-action adaptation of Sepulcher Invader. It was kinda bad, but they were all so happy with the whole trip their bored moodlets didn't even matter!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the movie it was almost dawn, so they used the good lighting for some vacation pictures. They could not go home without a photo of the iconic bridge!
Tumblr media
Molly told a bit about the city bar to Dani before they got ready for the party.
"...and that's when the twinky werewolf put the cops to run. Sims said it was a historic night!"
"Wow, he sounds so cool!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Party time! Since it was Pride, Dorothy's was filled with deco sims! It was Drag Performance Night, so the sitting area was just as full as the dancefloor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The club part of the bar was also packed! The teens danced the night away to the unknown NPC DJ.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Molly spent her long-lasting batteries dancing, Leo and Marcos sat outside for some fresh air.
"So, like West Coast Simerica so far?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"It's so pretty and warm! I feel like I'm drying up from all that Eastern humidity, Copperdale is so rainy! Here's also queer AF so many points to that!"
"Imagine if we could live here! It's a short car trip to Del Sol Valley. You could work at Plumbob Pictures!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"If only there was any excuse so I could convince my parents we could live here..."
Tumblr media
"Well, lucky for you the Watcher isn't subtle at all. Look behind you. Isn't this awfully convenient?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"'Wanna Get Famous?'
IT'S. A. PBP. INTERNSHIP! Multiple internships, given by this San Sequoia Arts Institute! Oh my Watcher, do you think this is our generation's story arc?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Well, according to their website, the criteria for enrollment is fine... Thankfully we have all those Drama Club hours, plus we'd be active sims so that counts positively too", Marcos explained.
"Us? In San Sequoia? Trying an internship for woohoocking TV? This gotta work!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"This poster is here, baby. The Watcher wouldn't go through S4S and make CC if it wasn't gonna work. Have faith!"
Tumblr media
The gang called it a night and went to their rental to rest. Soon, Leo would have to share his news with Moe and Tito!

What did Inumaki say? Kamo will never know
This started as a little comic of Toge and Megumi having a complete conversation with Toge just using sushi words and Kamo losing his mind. I wish we got more interactions between those 3, they would have been so chaotic together.

Happy are the Apples
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1900
Fluff, Sick Fic, Domestic, Hurt and Comfort, Crushes
Summary: Pony has fallen ill with a cold. She laments the fact that, being so far away in Japan, she cannot have her mother's tasty apple pie that she always cooked for her when she was sick. Well, a pouty Pony will not do, so Neito's just going to have to make this apple pie, now won't he?
Vannah’s Vibes: “The Cure” by Lady Gaga
Here is the fic I wrote for the BNHA Background Character Bang! Please check out the amazing art done by my partner jackiejonzz as well, it’s super cute!
“Achoo! Ugh…”
Neito nearly jumped out of his skin as the air split with a loud sneeze. He sat bolt upright in his chair, making it squeak as it scraped harshly across the wooden floor. It took him a few moments to realize where he was; it was only when the pencil stuck to his forehead fell off that he remembered that he had been downstairs in the common room studying at one of the tables. Well, attempting to anyway. He rubbed the red indentation that the wooden pencil had left in his skin and scowled at the writing utensil, which was now resting in the crease in his textbook. So much for that…
He jumped again as another, even louder sneeze cracked in the air like a whip. With a mutter of “What the…?” under his breath, he pushed his chair away from the table and stood up to walk over to the ring of sofas on the other end of the common room. He leaned over the back of the nearest one, squinting, and was greeted with a mess of blankets. The tips of two brown horns peeked out from the top. “...Pony?”
The blankets wiggled around, and then Pony popped her head out. Her blonde hair was piled messily on her head in a bun in-between her horns, curly and unwashed. Her nose was bright red, and her eyes were watery and weary. She gave him a petulant sniff, then rubbed the underside of her runny nose with the side of her index finger.
“Sorry, Neito. Did I disturb your studying?” she asked. Her voice was nasally and thick.
Neito sure as hell wasn’t going to admit that he had been passed out drooling instead of studying, so he just shrugged, “No.” He propped his elbow up on the back of the couch to tuck his cheek into his hand, then raised his eyebrow at her. “What’s up with you? You have a cold?”
“Yes,” she lamented. She flopped back against the throw pillows with a sigh, looking downright miserable as she pouted up at him. “It came on all of a sudden, and now I am miserable.” She heaved another sigh and poked her lips out even more. “Ahhh… At times like this, my mama would make her wonderful apple pie…” Tears flooded her already watery eyes, and Neito inwardly groaned.
If there was one thing he had never been able to refuse, it was Pony’s pouty face.
“Apple pie, huh?” he echoed, trying to seem less interested than he was. With a little whimper, Pony nodded and turned on her side to snuggle into the sofa. Neito tapped his index finger a few times against his cheek; was he really about to go through all the effort to make an American-style apple pie just because Pony was sick?
Oh, damn it. Yes, he was.
So that’s how he found himself carrying a bunch of grocery bags into the dorm kitchen after scouring the Internet for traditional apple pie recipes. He doubted it would be the same as Pony’s mother’s recipe, but the one he had found was award-winning or whatever, so it would have to do. He propped his smartphone against the coffee machine with the directions pulled up on the screen. As he was rolling up his sleeves and preparing to get to work, he heard shuffling from behind him. He turned around to see Pony standing in the entryway, her blankets wrapped tightly around her pale and sweaty form and her red, irritated eyes wide.
“Neito… What are you doing?”
“What does it look like?” he huffed and turned around to start taking the ingredients out of the bags. “I’m making you an apple pie.”
He could see Pony’s face immediately light up in the reflection of the microwave, and he couldn’t help the satisfied little grin that pulled onto his lips. Yes, he much preferred her smiling to being miserable. He began peeling, coring, and slicing the apples into wedges, which he piled up onto a plate. As he worked, he could feel Pony’s eyes boring into him, making the hairs on the back of his neck prickle; when he turned around, she was now sitting at the small dining table in the middle of the kitchen.
“Pony, shouldn’t you go back and lay on the sofa?” he asked, still holding one of the half-sliced apples in his hands. “You’re sick, you need to rest.”
“Yes,” Pony admitted while plucking a few tissues from the box she’d brought with her. After blowing her nose and sniffling, she then looked at him with a sleepy smile. “But my favorite part about Mama’s apple pie was being in the kitchen while she cooked. It just smells so nice, and it always made me feel better.”
For some reason, Neito found himself blushing. He hurriedly turned around so she wouldn’t see. She’d always had that weird effect on him.
After he was done slicing up all the apples, he stepped over to the oven to preheat it. He then grabbed a saucepan and set it on a burner, which he flipped on. The electric coils immediately heated up to a bright red. He dropped half a stick of butter into the pan and idly swirled it around with a spatula until it melted, then added the flour. He continued stirring it around until it formed a thick paste. He pulled the spatula up, then grimaced at the stringy, gooey muck that clung to it.
“So… Why apple pie?” he asked as he began adding the other dry ingredients and water. He turned to look at her while continuing to blend the mixture in the saucepan. She had her head laid on her arms, watching him with lidded eyes and a smile. It made his heart thump in his chest.
“It is a traditional dessert in America,” she explained, then yawned. When she rubbed at her eye, it was so cute that Neito had to turn around to bite down on his bottom lip so he didn’t release the little squeal that tried to slip out. Ugh, what was wrong with him? It was just Pony… Sweet, adorable, cute Pony who he couldn’t stand to see sad…
I might have slept so hard my brain oozed out of my ears, he thought with a quiet sigh.
The sugar and butter mixture was boiling now, so he flipped it off and started preparing his pie crust. As he fit the pie crust down into the pan, he asked, “So do you miss it? Home?”
“Of course I do,” she answered. Honestly, it was a perfectly acceptable answer, but it still made a pang of jealousy rip through him. He tried to focus on arranging the apple slices in the crust instead of the temper tantrum he kind of wanted to throw. Pony sniffed again, and then said, “But I love it here at U.A., too. I have learned so many amazing things, and I have grown stronger. And of course, I have met so many great people, like Neito.”
Neito froze. Then he grinned stupidly, the jealousy immediately being replaced by a rush of warmth and adrenaline. He was glad he was facing away from Pony now because it was just impossible for him to wipe that stupid grin off his face. As he finished arranging the apples and grabbed the saucepan to begin slowly pouring the mixture in, he said simply, “Oh, is that so?”
“Of course! With Neito around, I could never be too homesick.”
Neito’s arm gave a little jerk, and he cursed as some of the sticky, syrupy filling slipped out to splotch onto the counter. He finished filling the pie and slapped the top crust onto it, threw it in the oven, and then used a rag to carefully clean up the still-hot filling. As he tossed it into the sink, he let out a quiet sigh, trying to get ahold of himself. Pony was just too cute for her own good, and it was going to get him into trouble one of these days.
“Well, I’m glad to hear that,” Neito said finally after he’d composed himself, walking over to join her at the kitchen table. It would take quite a while for the pie to bake. He leaned his cheek in his hand, smiling down at Pony. She mirrored it with that sweet little smile of her own, and gosh, did it just make his heart melt.
Neito was going to have to face the fact that he was not brainless, but rather, he was just down bad for Pony Tsunotori.
It didn’t take long for the scent of the baking apple pie to fill the kitchen. Pony breathed in deeply, her eyes fluttering closed, and then released a content sigh.
“Mmm… It smells so good…”
“Well, don’t get your expectations too high,” Neito sniffed with a small smirk. “I’m sure it won’t hold a candle to your mother’s.”
“That’s okay,” she said, opening her eyes again to smile sweetly at him. “I will love it anyway because Neito made it for me.”
This time, Neito couldn’t hide the way his expression twisted in embarrassment. He tried to cover it with his hand, but even sick, Pony was observant; her eyebrows cinched in confusion as his face lit up red, and his expression twisted into some weird blend between a smile and a scowl. “Did I say something odd?”
He could lie. He could misdirect; he was quite good at that. But he really didn’t want to do that. Smiling wanly, he lowered his hand from his face and looked at her with a nervous little grin.
“You really don’t know how cute you are, do you?”
“Me? Cute?”
“The cutest, unfortunately,” he sighed with a shake of his head. He then gave her a soft grin, reaching out to gently brush a strand of her hand from her face. “You do things to me that I don’t quite understand, Pony.”
“Silly Neito!” Pony hummed, her eyes scrunching up as she smiled. “I think you just have a crush on me!”
“Well, that would explain why I was so compelled to make you apple pie.”
Pony giggled at this, then pulled herself up into a sitting position. She gathered her blankets around herself, then scooched her chair around the table until she was right up next to him. She tossed her messy hair over her shoulders, then snuggled up into the junction between his neck and shoulder, careful not to poke him with her horns. Neito’s heart stuttered, but he wrapped his arm around her anyway, enjoying the warmth slowly rolling off of her.
“Are you trying to get me sick?”
“We have a saying in America—‘What’s mine is yours.’”
“I don’t think that should apply to colds,” Neito said with a scowl of distaste, and Pony laughed. She turned her face to look up at him, and he just melted into those big, beautiful blue eyes—beautiful even though they were watery and red and kind of crusty. Sighing, he rested his head carefully against hers and closed his eyes. “Well, it’s a good thing I decided to make apple pie then, since I’m going to get sick now.”
Pony just cuddled further into him with another contented hum. He began to rub her back soothingly through the blankets. The scent of sweet apples danced around them, and Neito could not help but be momentarily grateful that of all the places Pony could be, she was right there with him.
