Dude why cant we just have fun with bad movies anymore. Why do we need video after video saying Madame Web is bad. DUH DUDE! We all know that from the first trailer just like Morbius and now Kraven. I want dumb cult movies where people scream dumb little phrase and throw things at the screenings. Think Rocky Horror or The Room. Something that just cant manifest in this era of the Internet because when movie ticket cost $15. We all take it as a personal gut punch when the movie is "bad".
I want to see the world where its 12am and the shadow cast that is doing Morbius that night is just FUCKING KILLING IT!

Media I’ve Experienced in 2024 (February) SPOILERS
Same as last time, in order of when completed on a scale of 1-10
Clone High (2023) Season 2 (8/10)-Like a lot of people I wasn’t really on board with Clone High’s revival. If you want to know my thoughts it’s honestly a 6, it has some good jokes but it’s weighed down by more forced and obvious comedy. Season 2 however really surprised me, there were a ton of jokes I found funny, brought in some fanservice like Skunky Poo coming back and Cloney Island being fully realized, and a ton of the character chemistry works.
Bumblebee (10/10)-I never thought a solo Bumblebee movie with humans would work but it turned out to be pretty heartwarming and emotional. Charlie and Bee’s relationship felt real along with some fun action scenes.
Clone High (2002) (9/10)-I tried to watch the original Clone High back in 2022 but my memory got clouded by a lot of personal stuff at the time. So checking the original out felt like a reminder of what the show used to be. The bait-and-switch comedy is top notch, Gandhi’s prescience will always be welcome, and by God the emotional soundtrack makes a ton of scenes even funnier.
Hello Kitty:Roller Rescue (5/10)-Pretty basic beat-em-up, cute soundtrack and visuals, nothing too special. I’m probably just spoiled from playing Island Adventure.
The LEGO Movie (Rewatch) (10/10)-I watched this movie on the exact day of its 10 Year Anniversary and by God, this movie is as funny as I remember it. And after I just watched Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s other work in Clone High I can definitely tell I was spoiled from their comedy from age 8 too. The animation still looks great and I can basically recite the script from how many times I watched it in the past. While yes I’m biased, it’s a very sentimental type of bias that I can never let go.
The Lost Boys (7/10)-The Lost Boys is an old but fun movie. It captures the feeling of adolescent summer fun on the boardwalk along with the relatively small sense of horror of the vampire cult.
Us (9/10)-Back on Halloween last year I watched Get Out and I thought it was good as a psychological thriller but not really scary to me. Us on the other hand was a step-up in my opinion. The doppelgänger plot is really cool and the way the tethered family goes around terrorizing everyone felt thrilling. And man the twist, I’m not gonna spoil it but that twist felt like a complete game changer.
The Marvels (2/10)-This movie is not good but not the worst MCU movie ever. Personally I liked the interactions between Kamala, Monica, and Carol even though I’ve grown to dislike Carol overtime. But otherwise the villain is forgettable, a lot of the fight scenes are complete white-noise, and a lot of scenes are completely cringy and predictable.
Epic Career Quest (7/10)-Waking up after a Super Bowl aftermath was weird for me. I don’t know the general opinion is on this series but I found it entertaining. The characters being mismatched kind of works for me as someone who likes these types of ensembles like Drawn Together. And as a growing adult their messages about imposter syndrome and making your goals really stuck with me.
Terrifier (6/10)-I don’t know if this is a personal thing after seeing so much Invincible and Mortal Kombat but the violence here literally had no effect on me. Sure, this movie is scary but the plot kind of drags for me personally.
Terrifier 2 (8/10)-This movie is a step up in terms of scares and production value. Not to mention there’s more of a plot when the first was just a simple murder plot here it’s an extensive plot about people’s perception of Art The Clown and who he is. Where this movie falls flat for me is the sword thing, I personally thought that was an asspull and kind of out of place in a serial killer movie that a fantastical item just doesn’t fit.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Season 2 (8/10)-Moon Girl Season 1 was a fun show that does a lot of cool superhero stuff while also doing enough to stray away from Marvel to make it its own. What do I think of Season 2? It’s on the same level. Nothing really noteworthy, they still do fun things, visuals are nice, and some of the plots are interesting.
Megaman X4 (9/10)-Probably my favorite Megaman X game given what I think about future games. The gameplay is fast paced and fun, the bosses are challenging but fun too, and the transition from SNES to PS1 translated greatly. And the cutscenes exist, if you know you know.
Jujutsu Kaisen (9/10)-Yeah I decided to ride the JJK train and unlike Naruto I do understand the hype. The animation is fluent especially with the domain expansion and curse enemies. I loved characters like Gojo, Maki and Nobara from their entertaining personalities. And Where Our Blue Is will always be one of my favorite songs in anime.
Freddy Vs. Jason (7/10)-The human parts suck especially if they get in the way of crossovers. But Freddy and Jason when they show up together they make the most out of them fighting each other and killing others. Not to mention the setup that has Freddy provoking Jason to getting into Elm Street works really well.
Venom:Let There Be Carnage (3/10)-If I described this movie in one word it would be annoying. Venom is a very obnoxious character who constantly screams and complains about everything. The cliche drama between Eddie and the rest of world is insufferable. The only remotely good part of the movie is the effects on Carnage as it was done pretty well. But other than that I have no desire to watch this one again.
Re:Cutie Honey (8/10)-Kill La Kill mixed with Ghost in the Shell. I honestly thought this was animated by Trigger. But in all honesty I love the fast paced action and character moments.
Resident Evil Revelations (4/10)-Boring. The ship location gets old and I wasn’t scared even once. I honestly like RE6 more than this considering that game has a lot of variety and fun gameplay. This game is so slow and unfulfilling.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (9/10)-I love how subversive this anime is. Flipping magical girl tropes to be grim dark was a unique twist and made the characters more real than the traditional magical girl stereotype.

Movie Review | Five Deadly Venoms (Chang, 1978)
Tumblr media
This is considered one of the most iconic Shaw Brothers movies I saw, and was certainly one of the first I ever saw, and upon revisiting this, I find it a little odd that it’s as beloved as it is. I am not knocking the movie’s quality, but instead noting the oddness of its narrative. I think when I first saw it, I didn’t really have a frame of reference for these things, so I kind of assumed this was pretty standard in such respects. The fact that it takes a mystery structure and withholds genre thrills didn’t stick out to me as unusual as it does now.
And when I first saw it, I assumed all classic Kung Fu movies were as dramatically rigid as this one, characters spouting exposition and declaring their current or changing allegiances either stoically or mischievously, depending on his sympathetic we’re supposed to find them. But having seen some of Chang Cheh’s earlier movies, which are more heartfelt and have blood running through their veins, this quality in his later films comes into focus as a more deliberate choice. These are less like stories you’re supposed to be swept up in and more like medieval tapestries that take on new meaning when viewed from different angles, not unlike the way the narrative shifts with different reveals.
The emphasis is on medieval. After a low key start, at around the midpoint we’re hit with a bunch of medieval instruments of torture and death as characters are tried in a kangaroo court. A coat of nails that resembles an iron maiden. Throat hooks and “brain pins” for discreet killing. If you were getting antsy early on about a lack of blood and guts, this stuff makes up for it.
And obviously we get the amazing fights with the titular Venoms, each of whom have distinct fighting styles (and cool masks to boot, although they sadly don’t wear them all that much). But the movie doesn’t overwhelm us with them, but instead metes out their abilities at key moments. As a result, the legendary final scene, which pulls out some last minute plot twists and throws in some off kilter editing to complement some of the styles, pops all the more.
I do not think this is the best Venom Mob film. Crippled Avengers and Five Elements Ninjas offer more bang for your buck, and the former might be my pick for the best choreographed martial arts movie I’ve ever seen. But as a transitional work towards the purer Kung Fu storytelling of those movies, I find it even more fascinating with my latest viewing.

So, I absolutely LOVE the Venom movies.
I'm just watching them for the first time in German voice over rn though and damn. 95% of what makes the movies so cool is missing. It's a mediocre, little entertaining movie with such bad, bad, bad voice acting. Emotion = zero.
And it makes me appreciate twice as much the work Tom Hardy has done with the movies.

May/June Stories and Tears
Alright, I love that we are back to our two months stories talks! It’s been a busy two moths filled with lots of tears and struggles but with lots of stories too! I watched and read quite a lot so let’s get started!
I’m a little unsure if I will go into full-on detail about the books I read because there are quite a few and this is going to be endless if I do, so I’m not quite sure how I will manage it but we will see where the flow takes me!
Ok, first things first music… Tate’s album?! An absolute masterpiece I can’t even deal with it! I love it so much and I didn’t expect any less! "Hate myself” just hits different! It’s absolutely amazing and I can’t stop listening to the whole album, chef kiss!!!
Moving on, good old Harold on the other hand ufff I can’t believe I’m saying this because I love him with my whole heart but the first time I listened to the new album…I just didn't connect with it... I don’t know what happened but it didn't get to me! But don’t you worry after a pause of a few weeks I listened to it again and I started to love some of the songs, it is a working progress but the point is I’m not disappointed and after a scare at the beginning we are back on track, bless him! I really love "Music for a Sushi Restaurant” and "Late Night Talking”. But I have to be honest here, I do love his other albums more, I’m sorry!
I will start the next category with a mix actually because I read the book and then watched the movie, Jane Austen’s "Emma” yes my dears I finally made my way into the classics!!! Thank you very much! I don’t know if "Emma” was the right choice to kick things off because it was a little bit boring and slow but I enjoyed it nevertheless. It isn't my favourite book but I am glad I read it! Also the movie, the one with the girl from the "Queen’s Gambit” was a pretty good adaptation! I loved the cloud pallet they used for the movie and I was so happy to see the actor who played Frank again because I loved him so much in that Netflix movie from last summer with the letters and Shailene Woodley! I loved how they did Jane and Mrs. Elton but I have to say that while I read the book I imagined the Elton’s much older! And I also imagined Knigthy differently but I enjoyed it anyway, I liked that they made it funny!
Tumblr media
I think we will have to stick with movies because the movie list is much shorter than the book one so lets move on with the next movie!
I watched "Top Gun Maverick” and that was a very pleasant surprise! I went in there knowing nothing, I never watched the first movie and I didn’t have any expectations. I was positively surprised, I really enjoyed it! I had a very good time watching it, I loved the beach scene and I loved seeing good old "Divergent” Peter again and best of all in such a different role!
Believe it or not, I finally cracked…I got Disney +, I said I wouldn’t get it for so long but I could resist only so long…I have to watch all that exclusive Marvel content I just have too!! I didn’t get to that just yet though but we have a lot to talk about nevertheless!
I watched "Soul”, I wanted to watch it for so long because I heard so many great things about it and it really lived up to my expectations I really liked it! It was very interesting from a psychological point of few and it had quite a few important life lessons! A very good movie!
Tumblr media
Ahhhh now to one of my biggest loves in life…musicals! I watched "West Side Story” and I had the best time, it was amazing! It was a little boring at the beginning but it got better and better as time went on! It reminded me how much I love musicals and how much I love dancing! It’s so sad that I always forget so quickly how much I love dancing! And Jazz music OMG!!! I love Jazz so much and I loved that this musical brought that love back („Soul” did that too!). I loved the Latin vibes because I love everything Latin, I loved Anita she was my favourite and of course, I loved Gus/Caleb (he will always be Gus/Caleb for me no matter what!) his charm has me forever! I also loved the time period that the story took place, the late 50s and the 60s are forever my favourite time periods! Oh and the dresses OMG beautiful!!! But oh why did it end like that it was relay really sad! I really disliked that he killed her brother!!! And I knew, I just knew that he was going to die but that didn’t make it any less sad when it actually happened!
Tumblr media
Oh my God, I also finally watched "Hamilton”! I wanted to see what all the fuss was about for soooo long!  I knew it was a musical but I didn’t expect it to be just singing without any talking, that really took me by surprise but I loved the rapping!!!! There were some very good and very catching songs in there!!! I loved „Alexander Hamilton” and "My Shot” (I had that song stuck in my head for days!!!) and "Helpless” oh and "That would be enough”! I love that the story is real-life-based and let me just say that Eliza carried that man the whole way!!! If it weren’t for her he wouldn’t have been who he was, bless her! Again it was a little slow in the beginning and I didn’t like it that much but as it went on I really enjoyed it and again some songs were amazing!
The last movie I watched was another pleasant surprise, "Venom”, I went into it without expecting much and I ended up really enjoying it! It was very nice and as always I loved the humour!
Ok alright lets get into the book section now, I’m going to start with thee shorter ones, the ones I don’t have that many notes on.
Let's start with my latest read actually, "Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. I was very surprised by the main difference to the movie, that the story is actually written as a throwback! I really love the movie, I adore Audrey Hepburn so I was very curious to read the book! I loved the writing style and some quotes were just wow, so smart and unique! I love the simplicity of the story, so smart and refreshing! Like the movie Holly, the book Holly was very inspiring, I loved her attitude! I also loved that the book ends differently from the movie, I love that it has an open ending and that it was only meant to be a fragment of her/his life!
Tumblr media
I also read "Girl with a Pearl Earring” I really really liked this book from the art point of view. I loved to see behind the scene of the paintings, even though it is not the real story behind them! It was a wired but also a very sad story. I wouldn’t necessarily say that I enjoyed or loved it as a whole because it made me uncomfortable a few times but I’m glad I read it because it was very different from what I normally read and it truly did have some very interesting parts!
Another quick and unspectacular read, but a must was "Charlie and the chocolate factory”, I really loved the movie (I can’t wait for the new adaptation with Timothee Chalamet, I love him so much it has to be good!) and I wanted to read the book too. It was nice, I liked that the movie stayed very true to it and like it happened when I was wanting the movie, I had to have some chocolate! The only difference from the movie, a difference that was very nice and very welcome was, that book Willy Wonka wasn’t so weird and scary as the movie one! I am very cuprous how they will portray him in the new adaptation, I hope he will be as non-scary and non-wired as he is in the book!
I also read "A Very Large Expense of Sea”, I borrowed it from the library knowing nothing, I just liked the cover and I saw that Nicola Yoon reviewed it so I had to take it. It was very interesting and very cute! I felt so old reading it, she was freaking 16 years old….I’m 19 now…I used to read such books when I was her age waiting for my special moment and fast forward, 3 years that moment still hasn’t come! Sad I know! I’m only sad that in a way I didn’t get the full high school experience and this book reminded me of that. Anyway, it was heartbreaking to see how mean people are without reason, it was brutal and I felt so sorry for her. People are hypocrites, the moment she was "cool” they stopped harassing her like come on… the world is just wrong! And the ending?! I sometimes like an open ending but what was that?! Just no, it was very sad!
OK we are almost there we only have two books left! The next one is "Dreamology”, I was very intrigued by the idea behind the story, you know I always love me a good book about dreams! I can’t resist it’s my weak spot! Again I really enjoyed the idea, it had such a big potential and I liked it but in some way, it felt like something was missing, the story didn't feel rounded at the end. I wished there explained the reason behind that dreaming encounters more, the problem was solved way too quickly and I really loved the neurological facts in the beginning so I wished there were more of those throughout the book. But this little unsatisfying feeling might also come from the fact that I somehow mixed no not mixed but I brought my knowledge from the previous dream-related books, especial my forever true love "Silber” and I wished to mix both ideas in a way to create the perfect book. This means, that I got pretty inspired by this book which is a very good thing because I am kind of in a huge writing block! Otherwise, it was a bit cliché and a bit predictable but I enjoyed it nevertheless and it took me back in time which I also loved! It was 2015 again! Oh, and I loved that Celeste was so nice and that she remained nice even after what happened, it's very rare to have such a nice "competition”, that makes it hard for you not to like her!
And here we are at the end with the creme de la creme, the book that is currently my nr. 1 for 2022 along with "The summer I turned pretty": "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”, it was soooooo goooood!!! I didn’t expect it to be that good! I took so many notes and I’m not sure if I will go thigh all of them here because it’s really quite a lot but the may point is that I loved it! I loved to see Snow from such a different perspective, to see where all his evil comes from, and to see how he evolved. What I loved most was seeing how the Hunger Games as such have evolved and what inspired some of the ideas to make the games better, that was just mind-blowing! The better treatment of the tributes, I mean yeah it's very cruel but the way they treated them in this book was brutal, the games were even more dangerous in the past! I loved seeing the fight between good and evil inside Snow, it was so interesting to see how he thinks and what pushes him towards victory, the shifts inside him! I had the feeling that the seed was good he was just guided into the evil! I was so sad, that he had to kill, I feel like that was the moment that changed him, the moment that made the difference! And his hate for Mockingjays really goes way back! AH I loved Sejanus, blesss him I was so sad when he died and that Snow betrayed him! Oh and her…to be honest, I didn’t think that she would win, I hoped she would but I was surprised when it happened! And I suffered so much for him….when he became a Peacekeeper ah it’s so so sad that he became who he became! OMG and I loved going back to our familiar places! The lake I mean come on!!! And it was so interesting to see why the fence was built in district 12! I loved to see how tied he actually is to district 12 and how it keeps following him! I LOVED ALL THOSE BEHIND THE SCENES! And the rose OMG! In a way, I'm happy they didn’t run away together because even though he might have loved her and even though he became who he became, he would have never been truly happy by her side because he just needed the luxury and at some point, he would have started to blame her for his misery! And I have to be honest I would rather have her be bad than for him to have abandoned her, but he was delirious sooooo who knows?! I couldn't have imagined a better ending than that, it fitted all so well, everything matched perfectly, I was sad because he became so cruel but I am ok with how it ended the whole book was just amazing! Oh but as if the Plinths adopted him?! I saw on Insta that they are turning it into a film and I'm very curious, I can’t wait! I really hope they don’t ruin it, I hope they do it as well as they did "The Hunger Games"! And my personal theory, I truly believe that Katniss has descended either of Lucy herself if she survived or of her cousin! She just has to be!
Ok so I did go through almost all my notes I’m sorry the post is endless again, I’m not going to make it any longer so thank you for reading, I wish you all the best and see you next time!

Reluctantly accepting his fate, Eddie Brock tries to co-exist with Venom. However, it's a rocky relationship, to say the least. Brock also attempts to revive his career by interviewing Cletus Kasady, a serial killer who doesn't trust anyone else. But things go wrong when Cletus also gets infected with a deadly and bloodthirsty symbiote. Brock must quickly find a way to work with Venom and deal with the Carnage brought on by Kasady. Although the plot is pretty straightforward for a comic-book flick, the banter between Brock and Venom is often the film's most fascinating element. Brock is constantly trying to quench Venom's thirst for, well, brains, leading to some amusing exchanges – even if the humour won't necessarily satisfy everyone's taste. Nevertheless, Tom Hardy's performance with the CGI character carries the film through some rough patches. Like Hardy, Woody Harrelson fully embraces the film's quirky, often absurd tonality and certainly enjoys playing the antagonist. Together, they make some of the apparent plot holes easier to ignore. Learning from its predecessor's mistakes, the runtime is certainly breezy at an hour and a half. But this does a disservice to its secondary characters Anne Weying (Michelle Williams), Francis Barrison (Naomie Harris) and Patrick Mulligan (Stephen Graham). They have potentially intriguing roles but don't get much development beyond some hasty plot beats and they end up being the story's weakest links. In addition, the editing is slightly jumpy in places, indicative of significant trimming, although this isn't entirely distracting. The third act is definitely satisfying once the two sentient aliens finally battle it out. There's a substantially marked improvement in the CGI over the first film, as the experience of director Andy Serkis clearly comes in handy. The action is easy to follow and looks great in 3D without being overbearing. While the film meets the basic requirements for comic-book movie enjoyment, its most essential sequence is the post-credit scene that raises the bar for the Venom character. Not only does it change the scope for where he and Eddie Brock will show up next, but it also makes this problematic yet oddly entertaining sequel more than worthwhile.

I think every film critic review needs a footnote called the “fun-o-meter” where they ignore everything they said in the previous paragraphs and have to answer objectively. put it on a scale. good good to bad good to bad good to bad bad. for example. did venom get a 30% on rotten tomatoes? yes. but watching sweaty tom hardy sit in a fish tank and eat a live lobster was VERY fun. some movies aren’t meant to win awards. they’re just meant to be a hoot n a holler

Watching Morbius, and...
I don't get it.
I mean, I get that it isn't great, the plot is way too hurried - but the actors are putting in a decent amount of work. It's what's been stuck in their mouths that's the real issue. There's something good in there, but it really does feel like Sony hacking its runtime down to Disney Straight-to-Video length robbed the setup of any chance to really expand on its own. You're ten minutes in and bam, Morb's got powers. Forty minutes in and bam, he's wrestling with his conscience. Leto and Smith work with what they have, but it feels like a Cliff's Notes version of a better movie.
It's nowhere near bad; I wouldn't particularly call it meme-worthy insofar as I've watched it - Morb's pushed Lucian out of the lab because he justifiably doesn't want to spread his own curse - but it definitely is something I'd watch with my brain turned off on a Friday Night and with a Meat Lover's pizza slice congealing in my hand.
If anything, like the two Venom flicks, it really does want to act like it's got teeth - but it doesn't show a speck of blood, except for the occasional dramatic splash against Leto's lips.
I'm trying to find the spot where it gets so bad it turns into something you genuinely enjoy in a "God, look at this trashcan fire!" sort of way - think The Room - but I can't latch onto it.
Oh, and calling the ship the Murnau? Nice touch. I'm still expecting a character to come up with a name that reads like a normalized version of "Orlok". The Greece opener gave me The Phantom Pain flashbacks and made me hope we'd see a callback to the Greek ghoul sometimes called a vrykolakas - but eh. Missed opportunity.
Right - and J.B. Blanc's lost a ton of weight, I see - and he's still slumming it as Hollywood's Discount Middle-Aged Latino when he's not directing voice actors for the video game industry. Last I'd seen him, he played one of Gus Fring's Trauma Team responders in Breaking Bad, discussed fine wine and cartoons with a bunch of other VA buddies, and voiced about a third of the Uruk-Hai from the Shadow of games.
