Talking Fight Night Grasso-Araujo. Haven’t really had time to post about it so here that is. I like this card. Bunch of fighters and/or fighters I care about. I know people crapped on the main event but it’s a solid fight.
Alexa Grasso vs Viviane Araujo - I definitely overrated Araujo as an athlete when she got to the UFC. In part cause her competition was the tiny Bernardo, a weathered 125lb Alexis Davis, and Jessica Eye. Respectable enough fighters, but never known for their pure athleticism. As Araujo has fought more and more fighters in their primes (and at 125lbs), she’s been less impressive in that regard. Technically she’s shown variety, but not a ton of diversity. She’s shown willingness to compete in all phases of MMA, but is very one note as a striker. Same set ups repeated over and over. Grasso, though she lacks that extra bit of aggression that makes top women’s contenders, is a well put together striker and grappler. She is varied enough, powerful enough, and technical enough to keep opponents honest. With Araujo likely to just throw herself into exchanges repeatedly, big chance for Grasso to build up a big lead early and just never let Araujo back in it.
Cub Swanson vs Jonathan Martinez (@ 135lbs) - I’ve been talked into liking this one, with caveats, by the heavy hands podcast. I don’t like Swanson at 135. At all. It seems like an unnecessary move in a desperate move to finally get a title fight. BUT if Swanson is going to move to 135, Martinez is the exact type of fighter I’d put him in there with. Defensively liable, not a particular power or speed threat and likely to try and kickbox with Swanson. Swanson has made his money as a gatekeeper turning away guys exactly like Martinez. If Swanson has anything substantial left in the tank at 38 years old after this weight cut, we could be in for at least one last styling from an undervalued veteran.
Askar Askarov vs Brandon Royval - Royval is really trying to be “technical” after that Pantoja fight. I’m not sure if Askarov is the guy to try that against. Guy is a round winner with an underrated boxing game and obvious wrestling chops. If he’s able to get into the body and take Royval down, I could see this being a real painful 15 minutes for him. Gotta take Askarov. Should be a great fight.
Misha Cirkunov vs Alonzo Menifield - can Cirkunov take Menifield down before Menifield finds his jaw? He should be able to, but I don’t trust it at this point. Menifield KO 1st round.
Victor Henry vs Raphael Assuncao - a “glue factory fight”. Like me some Henry, but I don’t need to see Assuncao get beat down.
Tatsuro Taira vs CJ Vergara - I’ve definitely seen Vergara fight and I have no impression of him. Taira on the other hand has looked great whenever I’ve seen him. Had a strong debut and looking forward to seeing him again.

9. Madre que alimenta a sus críos.
Como la tuya, como la mía, madre de las madres, la madre de todas, de todes, de todos. La madre que nos alimenta. Que nos contiene. La misma madre que tapamos con cemento para callar. La misma madre que, en el olvido, no regamos. Esa madre, la que ha sido testigo de esos balazos que no sonaron. La misma madre de Victor Jara. La misma madre de los hermanos Vergara Toledo. Cuando callas, te ausentas, omites tu existencia, dejas de estar presente en el espacio de lo físico. Alguien está observando, alguien pequeño, una esponja, una esponja que no decide qué absorbe. Absorbe, absorbe y repite. Y así, destruyes, como martillo, el valor de la existencia, el valor de decir, el valor de ser quien eres, el valor de valorar la existencia de otros, el cariño de otros, la atención. Esa atención que tanto extrañamos. Un día mi madre me dijo, citando a un autor que hoy no recuerdo, que el regalo más hermoso que alguien puede dar a otra persona, es la atención. La atención. La genuina atención. Esa que desde ese 11 de Septiembre de 1973 nos obligaron a esconder debajo de nuestras almohadas.

Escapar de la amenaza, no poder enfrentar por miedo a la muerte, por miedo al fin. Hoy el hombre escapa de la vida, escapa de la verdad. El afán del hombre vive en la ficción que crea en su propia mente sin poder observar las cosas como son. Porque eso sería finalizar con las ideas que ha forjado tras generaciones. Cincuenta años. 5. Un padre ausente.

El fuego se toma la ciudad. Fuego en forma de pólvora. Bombas. Gritos desatados. Muerte. Violaciones al cuerpo, a la psiquis, a las ideas, a la mente. Muere la educación. Muere el arte. Cenizas. Cadáveres metafóricos que deambulan, callados, adormecidos, atrapados en la rutina. Miran sus teléfonos, chocan con postes, otros son atropellados, otros pierden a los amores de sus vidas.
2. Un llanto que sangra.
Más de 400 traumas oculares. Cantidad de personas, sin número, desaparecidas. ¿Qué pasa? Ya caminamos por este camino. Detente. Detenganlo. Detener. Detenganlos. ¿Dónde estamos? ¿Dónde estuvimos?

*GOBIERNO NACIONAL APOYA CONSTRUCCIÓN DEL SENA ÉTNICO EN RISARALDA* Tras su visita al Municipio de Quinchía, el Presidente Gustavo Petro y la Ministra de Educación confirmaron su impulso a la construcción del Sena Triétnico en el Corregimiento de Santa Cecilia en Pueblo Rico. Un proyecto que fue gestionado por el Gobernador de Risaralda Victor Manuel Tamayo Vargas, buscando mejorar el acceso a la Educación y que está inmerso en el Plan de Desarrollo de la administración Sentimiento de Todos, y que por su ubicación estratégica, beneficiará a los jóvenes de comunidades afros, indígenas y mestizas que viven en los departamentos de Risaralda y Chocó. El anuncio fue hecho tanto por el Presidente Gustavo Petro y por la Ministra de Educación Aurora Vergara a través de sus cuentas de twitter, una vez culminó la agenda de trabajo del programa El Gobierno Escucha desarrollado el pasado viernes en el Coliseo Municipal de Quinchía. Del mismo modo, tanto el Gobernador de Risaralda como el Secretario de Educación Departamental Leonardo Franco se pronunciaron y manifestaron su complacencia, pues se estaba a la espera de la aprobación de la apropiación de recursos por parte del Gobierno Nacional y el SENA para ejecutar las obras de mejoramiento del lote que fue gestionado por el Gobernador Victor Manuel Tamayo ante la CARDER y que desde agosto del año 2022 fue adjudicado y se encuentra en la primera etapa de Diseños, que fue contratada por la Gobernación de Risaralda.
