Headcanon: is Shego actually 'goth'?

my short answer: no, but it depends really.

I often see people talking about Shego as a 'cartoon goth girl' and I'm pretty sure that everyone is only basing it on her looks and 'attitude'.

The stereotype of gothic and any other type of alternative 'dark' subculture, is wearing black clothes, black lipstick and having a pissed or 'whatever' attitude.

Basic rule for goth: if you listen to goth music, you're goth. That's it. You can dress in 'normal'clothes and still be 'goth' at heart. It's your choice to express it.

Shego's appearance:

I've heard some people say her look and all screams goth but, it's just her ex-superhero suit??? That would make all of the Go siblings (or anyone who has black work clothes) 'goth'.

In 'stop team go' we find out that Shego's casual clothes are actually fairly 'ordinary' and match with Kim's tastes. Actually, Kim and Shego are REALLY close to one another when it comes to what they like and is Kim a goth? Most definetely not. (And that's OK).

"But in that episode, all of Shego's evilness got taken away" yeah, so? Does that mean being goth is evil? Heck no! It took away 'evil' not interests!

'Regular' people can wear black lipstick. Because doy, it's just make up!

If I put on pink lipstick, it doesn't mean that I am no longer goth or anything. It's always odd to me that if someone doesn't dress 100% goth 24/7 that (most of the time normal) people say "oh you're not a 'real'goth".

'Kay by that logic; where are Shego's platform boots, chains and spikes at ?

Also the stereotype that goths don't go into the sun? I've got news for you buddy; we kind of have to. I despise it because of my sun allergy and getting blinded by it but you can't go around it...

But for a stereotypical gothy cartoon character, Shego really does enjoy sunbathing huh? (And pft ofc goths can sunbathe but look at Sam Manson from Danny Phantom for example, she's covered from head to toe during the pool episode).

Shego's attitude:

I'm honestly puzzled because so often in media you see that the 'goth' is mopey, evil, depressed, dramatic, sarcastic or down right rude when that's the furthest from the truth!!!

Heck if you give Shego a blonde wig, pink lipstick and pink clothes, not only would you get evil 'Barbie', but you'd get a mean girls type-a girl. Think of it as Bonnie2.0. Except with a go-getter attitude and a larger range of skills.

Shego is an antagonist with a strong character with even stronger opinions. But that doesn't make her goth.

Shego's music tastes:

In the show, it's only ever established that she enjoys listening to MC Honey.

She seems to be kind of 'eh' about Oh Boyz, but perhaps it's because of Drakken who sings it.

I doubt she'd listen to 'goth' (or alternative) music because to hear it might be too... moopy.

The gothic scene is heavily based (started with) the gothic music genre, so if you don't listen to it then chances are: you're not goth.

Does that mean that goths can never listen to any other music genre? Heck no! You can listen to whatever you want, but you've got to know the roots and origins from a subculture.

My conclusion:

In terms of looks, Shego could be considered a 'goth'. But is she actually goth? I think noth.

And unless a cartoon character shows actual participation in the goth culture or states "yeah I'm goth", they're probably not goth.

But that's just my take on it and I'm also not going to be a gatekeeper of what is goth and what's not.

if you consider her 100% goth, that's a-ok!

MIGHT update this in the future but this is it for now.

Bonus:

Dr Drakken however, the man DEFINITELY had an angsty goth teen phase in his life and 100% listens to some punk, rock and new wave when working on his projects along with country, rap and poppy boyband songs.

Addams Family MC With the Side Characters!

Diavolo

When MC was first pulled into the Devildom, in all honesty, Diavolo thought they pulled down a demon who was on vacation. It’s just… MC dressed in such demonic attire! They looked great, don’t get him wrong, but he was expecting some… brighter clothing. With significantly less knives attached.

Once MC and Diavolo begin to build a rapport, the demon prince couldn’t help but wonder… was the human world really as similar to the Devildom as MC was saying, or did MC just… live a bit of a weird life? He’d have to check with Solomon later. (Not that the wizard lived a life that was any less weird…)

Poor Diavolo tried to take MC on a trip through the Royal gardens once to show off some of his unique plants he was sure MC would enjoy, but tragically, MC pointed out that they already had plants like this at their great aunt’s estate.

“It’s terribly haunted, constant screams of the damned, not quite sure who’s cries are from those still living… it’s a wonderful vacation spot! We should all take a trip there sometime!” “Oh… yes that sounds lovely…”

It’s not that Diavolo isn’t enthralled by the idea of hanging out with MC’s great aunt, it’s that Diavolo just wants to impress the human… we here at Stupid Headcanons Inc. hope that MC is willing to at least pretend to be shocked and amused by all the weird happenings in the Devildom… for Diavolo’s sake.

Barbatos

This might come as a shock for some but… this man is strangely smitten with this strange new human. Their aesthetic is absolutely on point, their mannerisms, so refined and elegant with a dangerous edge, like the intricately carved knives Barbatos keeps in his alleged torture dungeon.

He tries to deny his attraction (be it as a friend-crush or a romantic one), but he can’t help but try and… show off around MC.

Expertly pour them teas from all over the Devildom, share his knowledge and expertise on all manner of different subjects, maybe even… show off his bare wrists 🤭

It’s once Barbatos properly explains his powers that MC gets really into it.

“Oh, all that knowledge of times gone by and times yet to come… I bet it just drives you intoxicatingly mad, doesn’t it?” “…honestly, yes, sometimes. Knowing there is a timeline out there where I did not have the amazing fortune of meeting you of course.”

Barbatos expertly positioned a fainting couch nearby so if MC swooned too hard they wouldn’t fall onto the hard floors of the castle and get a concussion, but it wasn’t MC who ended up needing the couch. The human dreamily sighed and managed to just graze Barbatos’ bare collarbone as they pinned a black rose they found to his uniform.

The poor demon was passed out on that couch for an hour.

Simeon

This poor vaguely confused Angel… first he can’t figure out how the computer works, now he’s concerned that this human took to the Devildom a little too well. The dark clothing and almost Victorian mannerisms were captivating yes, but what if they influenced Luke and Simeon had to deal with his charge going through a goth phase???

But other than worrying about the fate of his little companion, Simeon couldn’t help but marvel at this human and all their strangeness. Though, he nearly had an aneurysm when he caught them cutting the petals off his flower displays.

“Please don’t ever do that again, MC…” “Why ever not? This place is far too bright and colourful.” “For your tastes maybe, but I prefer at least a few pops of colour here and there.”

While MC didn’t exactly understand why Simeon would want something as strange as colour in this perfectly dark and gloomy place, they didn’t want to upset their friend, so they complied. (Much to Simeon’s relief and appreciation)

A bosom friendship was formed when Simeon was trying to branch out into writing gothic short stories and MC arrived to help. Well, they didn’t help intentionally, really, they were just sharing anecdotes from their latest family reunion and Simeon just wrote that stuff down. MC has a… for lack of a better word, “colourful” family.

Solomon

Oh this guy has definitely become an honorary Addams at some point in history through virtue of just how WEIRD he is.

He’s the weird cousin of the family, MC knows him well. Where do you think the family got all their wonderful plants, pets and magical oddities?

The sorcerer is completely in phased by the family’s weirdness and goes out of his way to ask about all the fun things they’ve been up to while he’s been too busy to visit.

“Well, not much has happened in recent years, Solomon. Though, we did dance the mamushka at the last family reunion.” “You did?! Damn, I wish I could have been there. I was the best at that dance, you know.”

Once MC can start using magic, he demands to be in charge of all of their lessons, he’s family, after all!

Luke

MC is single handedly responsible for Luke’s goth phase.

It happened suddenly and without warning… just… one day MC and Luke went out shopping, and Luke came back dressed like a little gothic Victorian boy with his hair slicked back. (He looked like a tiny blonde Gomez Addams to be honest. Very cute 10/10)

Simeon passed out (tragically not near any fainting couches). Solomon applauded. Asmo took a million pictures.

At first though, Luke thought MC was another demon. Their sense of style and general demeanour really freaked him out, and on more than one occasion, he actively ran away. MC didn’t mind, they were used to inspiring fear in the populous 🖤

But one day, Barbatos invited MC to one of the baking lessons, and Luke realized that this human was alright. Sure they were a little weird, but who wasn’t? And the cookies they made were really really good! They were shaped like little cobwebs :D

Summary: What Malleus thought is that this skater rink was abandoned and only his for peace and quiet away from his attendants, he was wrong to think like that as he meet a rebellious one by sneaking in

P/N: this take place at a modern world, where Malleus is just a victorian goth and Yuu as a skater punk (no magic today sorry)

Malleus have wandered enough

at this point he is pretty sure two of his guards are tearing their heads out looking for him everywhere in the city, not the entire city but maybe places they think Malleus have been

well it's their fault too anyway

what's the point of bringing him out of the mansion to town if he can't even explore freely?

do Lilia really have to take Sebek and Silver with them? he is not a kid anymore he doesn't need that much guards to protect him, he's strong enough to fend for himself maybe far more stronger than his so called guards, so why still bring them here together? Malleus have to deal with the overbearing presence of both Sebek and Silver that everyone they walk past is looking at them and getting a sour face back from Sebek

"the young master certainly dresses like prince!!, truly everyone in town should appreciate our country's attire more!!" Sebek said proudly complimenting his master (loudly)

Malleus don't have a fair argument or choice here since it's the only type of clothing he kinda grew on ever since his childhood and the only type of clothing he had his whole life, his grandmother even said that it's accient as her and tailored very carefully in a treadmill on a very old fashion way

he knows that modern fashion existed he just doesn't bother to care since he is not that into appearances when it came to clothing, and truth to be told the dark black ruffles and laces on the garments he wore is quite comfortable enough and bearable to wear, not to mention he looks quite good on it.

another perks of it was its a good camouflage to sneak into the shadows when he needed some space off his pressuring status and servants that always wanted to be around him, although he have to get deeper into the shadows and saunter around more so they won't get to him quickly. and by strolling around the areas of darkened hollowed streets he found himself here

it looks like what've he read on magazine Lilia have bought before, a rink was it? he can't quite remember the words before the sentence "rink" but it has to do something with rolling and wheels on one's shoes and a hardwood thing a person steps on to move around to. the cement ground tapped on his heeled shoe, some of it echoed to the empty rink

his eyes wandered around the solidarity of the place, graffiti on the rink itself, some dirty smudges on the concrete floor and a almost filled trashcan nearby a almost empty vending machine

how dirty

this place looked unkempt, who was in charge of it? seeing how tarnished this place is no wonder no one visits here to ride their little hardwood thing and shoes with wheels on the--

his ears picked the sounds of running towards him from the distance

a attacker?

he turned around his head ready to stance at the attacker just as the person jumped as high as they can, gripped the high fence's end and jumped over it

the fence is just tall as him but this person seemed on a smaller height, it's impressive how they've done the jumping around it without any problem with the momentum

"YES-- woah, woah..." they landed on their feet staggering but stood up just fine in a second. they breath out, finally calming down the adrenaline they felt by jumping up the high fence just as they feel another presence near them and turned their head to the another individual who's inside of the rink earlier than them

"BWAAAH THERE'S A PERSON HERE!!" they shrieked making Malleus flinch a bit and irritated at their loud shout their scream hollowed down slowly with the stranger just staring at them with full annoyance

"oh sorry!! i didn't notice you earlier because of how dark your clothes ar--" they put their hands up in defense as they take a great look at the man infront of them

The man himself was dressed in long black robes filled laces and frills as if he's dressed for the renaissance or rococo era. they grin at him

"what's with the weird get-up? you look like you came from the 16 hundreds or something" their tone of voice changed completely now that they've taken a real closer look to him and now giving him a sublemental judging look

Quite rude for a stranger who he had just met

"Oho? are you judging me of my personal clothing of choice? do you not know who are you talking to?" Malleus scoffed at them "what? are you the prince of darkness or something? just kidding" the stranger replied with a playful grin at their face before looking up and down at him again. do this person have no idea that they are talking to so casually?

"i ain't judging you, I just thought it's weird for someone to wear something so....vintage at this kind of hour and century, i thought you're gonna suck peoples blood or mourning somebody's death on their grave" they stated as they eyed the beautiful laced robe covering him "so you are criticizing me" Malleus gave them a offended look

"maybe, i just thought you were a weirdo hanging out on the skater rink late at night and with a goth outfit" anyone would think someone like him would fit on a haunted mansion on a forest than a littered cement rink

"i am here for the peace and quite not for it's aesthetics that would fit my clothes" a moment of awkward silence made the other stranger tense up in guilt "well uh...apologies then" they reply looking the other way for a second before swiftly turning their head back at the tall man

"hey... I'm pretty sure you are also giving me that judgy look judges give to their auditioners, so say, what do you think me when i talked to you?" they asked with an expectant look

he took upon a closer look at the stranger, one would think they are a delinquent student with a first glance, jacket with tattered prints of patches, worn out shoes, in their hands were pair of shoes with wheels on it making clear what are their intention to do at this time and dubious type of metal accessories no parents would allow their children to wear at a school. what a rebellious fashion.

"you're way of clothing is...odd as one might say" they tilted their head in confusion, what is this guy saying?

"huh? this is pretty modern unlike what you wear, are you sheltered or something?" Malleus remained silent at their question, it's not like he's not free to explore other lands it's just that he's not always free from eyes of his attendants or invited to be free together with somebody

"oh sorry you didn't have to talk about it if you don't want to" they're not insensitive, of course some people would just love to be in a solitude place on their own plus with just how you look at this man dresses with his beautiful pale skin or how he interacts with the other persom one would really think he does not look like he is around with people or outside most of times

they once again share a moment of peaceful silence letting the night breeze carry some strands of their hair flowing along with it. the other one decides to finally speak

"hey, do you mind if i skate a bit? that's what i came here for actually" they lift their hand with the strings of their roller skates and shoe dangling within it

"no, do as you please" Malleus stated letting them beam at him as they took off the worn out shoes they wore earlier then put on the one with wheels on it, they had stanced properly to seal their balance as Malleus watch them roll down the circled floor. Malleus have seen rough yet eye catching movements of them, well they seem to be having fun with their own as they roll around the whole rink, he had never seen such a free spirit as them, they had the most bright smile expressed on their face. he admired that.

after a few minutes of skating more they roll back to the ridge of the rink, huffing and panting with sweat dripping at their temples and forehead "so how'd i do?" they pant one last time before looking at him in the eyes, they look brighter from before they came here as if all the fatigue from their body is gone even though they have moved alot even more

"not bad i can say that" he chuckled, their performance is a roughed diamond but it's not like he can do any better, he's also maybe way too tall to do this kind of hobby.

They crouch down reaching to untie to roller skates and remove it off their foot "hey, i have one question for you, why are you here again? " their barefoot stepped on the cold ground to walk over to him and their discarded worned out shoes besides him

"i have said my own reasons, i am here for the solemnity of this place. nothing else than that" Malleus stated as his eyes followed their barefooted figure tapping the cement ground with small taps

"well my reason would be the same as you, my mom would kill me if she finds out i snuck out again to skate alone here but sometimes i just need to be on my own, you know what I'm saying?" they crouch once again to pick up their shoes and putting it on without hassle

upon with his height the crouching person looked much more smaller than before like a small bunny looking at ground as if it's interesting "hmm yes i do, i barely get any silence after all" cue to Sebek always following him nd announcing his every arrival at any place "but aren't you afraid that you might be in danger? it is quite late for a vunerable thing like you out alone at this kind of place" his deep voice felt like it wants to eat you out on fear, is he trying to scare them or something?

they scoff "you're here, why would it be dangerous?" they put the other sneaker in and tied it up in a knot "and if you are the danger, you could've just murdered me with a dagger 20 minutes ago but you didn't so.." they stood up, knocking off the dust and dirt on their clothing from the previous skating session and climbing the rusty metal fence earlier

he chuckled "how funny and forward towards me you are for a normal civilian, what do you say about giving me your name?" the man is obviously enamoured by them and it shows, he hopes that they are willing enough to give their name to him

"the name's Yuu, and what should i call the goth mister? for remembering purposes" they smirk at him waiting for his reply "You've entertained me well enough, therefore i shall give you a premission to call me anything you want to but i cannot guarantee what might happen to you if you do" he slip out a seemingly evillous grin

"riiiiight...weirdo." they mumble before passing by him and climbing on the fence again making it clang with the metal barrier, they jumped off once again to the other side opposite of Malleus "i gotta go now man, I'll see you never or soon if you decide to come back here"

"Oh by the way!! this is private property of a old man so i recommend you leave as soon as you can before he gets here!!" they yell at him and then run further away as fast as they could till he cannot see them anymore. he mumbled their name one last time before smiling to himself, what a curios little beastie they are

Finished up another redesign, this time Frankie, Angus' sister. She's kind of a goth as well, though maybe more glam goth whereas the MC of this set is a Victorian-goth lol

Abilities:

Being a feline shapeshifter witch, she can, obviously, shapeshift into a cat/shapeshift parts of her body into that of a feline.

She has extremely sharp claws that can even cut stone, and generally has other typical cat abilities like being very stealthy, being able to see in the dark, and being both a nuisance and beloved to those around her.

Illusion magic: She is capable of projecting illusions of any sort and even give them mass to make them more real. She is also able to break free from other people's illusion magic fairly easily. Franziska can also make herself and others invisible if she wants to

She can read people's thoughts by making eye-contact or touching them, and can project her thoughts onto others the same way

She is very agile and fast.

Weaknesses:

Frankie can't shapeshift into full human on her own, and needs to use special talisman or stick as a cat if visiting human world (unless its a cosplay event; she really enjoys those bcus she can just be herself)

Due to her self-esteem issues, she sometimes neglects her own well-being and overworks herself, or bottles things up she really shouldn't.

Franziska struggles with developing romantic relationships with anybody despite really wishing to have someone like that in her life; her low self-esteem and trust issues make it very difficult for her to trust someone so much to make it possible.

Personality:

Franziska comes off very cheerful, easy-going and a bit mischievous, loving to pull small pranks on people like spooking them or hiding their stuff somewhere else from where they put it. She is quite emotionally intelligent and able to read people's mood though, and can tell if something would go too far.

Beneath this cheery persona though, she has some self-esteem issues and tends to put 110% into anything she feels she has responsibility over, such as Quinn as his manager; she is able to switch from relaxed and almost airheaded-seeming persona into something very serious and focused in an instant.

She hates feeling useless and like a failure - something her parents labeled her as - and sometimes puts others needs over her own to her detriment. She is a damn good manager and will not take anyone's bullshit towards Quinn, but sometimes neglects herself as a result.

She is a curious person and likes learning/discovering new things, and is also amused pretty easily over small things like knocking water bottles off the table (because cats).

She can be quite fierce in a fight despite not being the strongest, especially when it is about her boys (Angus and Clover) and can even be scary. Her fighting ability doesn't usually surprise her brother and nephew like it does others, given not only they know her the best, but she is a cat, and cats are good hunters.

Fun Facts:

Franziska's catness often manifests with her cat hijinks, such as knocking things over shelves when she pouts, stealing people's stuff and hiding it for funsies, being affected by catnip, and bringing random gifts to people she likes. Also she purrs if someone she likes scratches her ear (mostly Angus or Clover, but sometimes her friends also cause this)

Franziska LOVES cosplay/masquerade events, not just in human world where she doesn't have to hide her true form, but because she just generally enjoys dressing up in elaborate costumes.

While her main favorite music is metal/rock, she is open to all genres and does enjoy Quinn's music too.

Franziska has a shirt that reads "metal kitty of Doom" that she made herself, based after the nickname Youko gave her.

Franziska is a lesbian and had a brief crush on Angus' Seeker coworker Amalia, though that faded pretty quickly given Amalia is taken and in a way "too old" for her.

Sometimes she even wishes she was aromantic like her brother, so she didn't have this desire for a romantic relationship at all as this struggle often causes a lot of upset for her.

Frankie does her absolute best to be a good big sister/motherly figure to Clover, to compensate on the bad mothering she herself experienced. She's a bit over-the-top and awkward about it sometimes, but given Clover himself had a shit mum, he does really appreciate her efforts, even if she's sometimes annoying.

Quinn calls her "Franken Bell" as a reference to Frankenstein jokingly, because Franziska is sometimes a bit scary and loves horror movies. Frankenstein's monster is one of her favorite human created horror stories in fact, because she relates to the rejection the monster gets from his creator.

Franziska does have a "witch form" like how her brother has a Warlock form, but neither use it often as it's rarely necessary to unlock so much of their powers at once.

Franziska and Quinn often gossip about things and have 'girls nights' together (Quinn being a guy doesn't matter as he has the spirit of Girls Nights lol)

While she likes to pull pranks and mess with people, Franziska does know where to draw the line, such as not touching things of Clover's, that have significant emotional meaning to him. or any dangerous stuff from Angus for that matter.

Her cat form is a black cat with white ear fluff and yellow eyes

Franziska is tanner skinned than her brother when in human disguise, as her skintone comes after their father, whereas Angus comes after their mother

Both siblings have special heritage that has influenced their powers and appearance somewhat. This is not too surprising, given their family line has a history of including all sorts of powerful beings into it for power and status.

I love Imani's cherry earrings 🥺. I like to believe she gets them after a certain event. Also there's lots of different styles her hair is in in my head, so I don't really have a definitive one just yet, so the braided buns will do. She looks good in them anyway.

When playing reborn I realized how similar Leo's and Ferns sprites looked and I both hated it and was like " maybe Leo pre Reborn was kinda like Fern". I'm still working on it. Yes he's the one with the overpowered skitty, Skat.

Imani chose Popplio. Leo chose Snivy, and I'm thinking torchic for No Name, but that might change. Oh and maybe Rockruff or Scolipede ( I forgot it's pre evolution's name so just trust me on this one).

he would truly enjoy whenever the pair of you go out together. you simply complement each other so nicely. the photos of the pair of you on devilgram will blow up because of your wonderfully complimentary dark aesthetics.

would prefer a more victorian goth or vampire goth aesthetic but he loves you and your self expression, no matter what part of the scene you prefer. 

Lucifer enjoys walking down through cemeteries with you, dark in the moonlight, and hes more then pleased to sweep you off your feet and into the blackness of night.

at first he doesn't think much of it. kinda just shrugs. as the pair of you become close his reaction will change as he starts to take note of little things. please show up in platform boots, hes going to see them, and then see you, and turn pink at the thought of you stepping on him. hes a kinky bastard

okay now hes into it. the pretty jewelry, big boots, if you like leather or lace, lose fitting clothes or skin tight, hes swooning just a little. 

Levi knows subcultures pretty well, he’d probably like things leaning more as cross over styles like Gothic Lolita or Gothic Ouji.  

the closest to goth music you'll get him to listen to is Baby Metal, but he knows some of the lit, mostly from anime and games tbh. 

Satan

he likes it from the beginning. compliments your style immediately. Satan is well read in gothic literature and is familiar with the history of the scene all the way back to punk in the 70s. 

he has a great appreciation for gothic architecture as well as poetry. can recite Poe’s work verbatim. will bring you black roses as tokens of his affection. 

stylistically hes not picky, probably likes romantic goth or anything leaning into dark academia aesthetics overall. 

he will sneak you away to dance with you, he’d so love to teach you how to waltz to the pretty forlornful songs. kisses the back of your hand and writes you pretty poetry about how his rage eats him like decay but you have offered him peace in the rot. 

Asmodeus

he just thinks you are so beautiful. for alt styles I headcannon Asmo as actually leaning more into the punk mindset and lifestyle, but he loves goth and all of the alt subculture’s little children~

he’ll gift you pretty bouquets of nightshade and hemlock. black candles that burn with dark flames. to spite his personal style being full of light and soft colors he will compliment you nicely aesthetically. 

probably changes his wardrobe to reflect yours. you like wearing harnesses? well he’ll get himself a pretty pale pink one to match you~ (if you ask him he likes fetish goth bc of course he does) 

the literature is a bit dull for his taste most of the time, but he does like the music actually. unless its a tragedy, Asmo is a sucker for a good romantic tragedy. 

Beelzebub

the personal style of mc matters the least to the 6th born. Beel will love you regardless. he sees your goth style more as a reflection of your commitment to things you love. 

the dreary nature associated with goth will not bother him. he’s Belphie’s twin after all. teaches you how to add things like activated charcoal to food to turn it black or dark grey. 

if you were to have him pick an outfit for you he’s probably going to land somewhere between trad goth and e-girl/boy. Beel probably like emo as a subculture a bit more then goth personally. 

he likes the music just fine, but I do think he’d fall more into sub genres like emo or pop punk for his taste. not a fan of the lit tho, puts him to sleep. 

Belphagor

another match made in hell. Belphie might just consider himself a goth if not for his laziness and lack of commitment. he really can't bring himself to put in the effort required to “look the part”. 

he likes the music and the lit and the subculture overall. its all very cozy and familiar to him. he will adapt to whatever your chosen corner of it is. 

style wise he likes all of it. altho hes particularly curious by the “stranger” subsets like cyber goth or steampunk. 

Belphie would adore to lay in your lap under the blankness of a new moon, as you read him poetry on the dead grass. hes unbothered by whatever horrible thing you’ve found to tell him this time.

Diavolo

hes intrigued. he’s overall unfamiliar with the style and subculture, but he holds no prejudice or judgment. in fact it finds it all quite charming. would love to discuss it with you over tea sometime.

the themes that run at the core of the subculture are familiar and homely to him, so once he has a better grasp hes very pleased and supportive. Dia finds himself falling in love with the soft tragedy of it all. 

stylistically he doesn't have a preference. whatever you like and feel confident in hes pleased with. 

Dia is the type to stroll with you through cemeteries, telling you stories from his many years in the devildom. if you wanted to date an eldritch demon hes a wonderful choice you know. 

Barbatos

Barb is completely charmed. he adores your style. Barb doesn't care for goth music but he does love the literature. the poetry in particular is a favorite genre of his. 

he is also a very fun aesthetic choice. when he has days free and doesn't have to wear a uniform you’ll see hes got quite the gothic style himself. photos with him during private tea parties are beautiful (you probably have a pretty one of him with some dead dried roses as your lock screen or contact photo for him or something)

his favorite gothic style for you would be something like victorian or even gothabilly. he just finds vintage styles on you so charming. 

Barbatos’ idea of a perfect date is a nice tea party somewhere hidden away, chatting about philosophies or poetry and art while sipping tea with his darling of corse. he would so love it to turn that little fantasy into a reality with you with a black gothic tea set and little skull shaped sugar cubes.

- I bet Lucian is a bit better at makeup than his father so he does Dadsona's makeup whenever he gets permission

- Naming animals from the shelter! (Examples: Poe the crow, Nevermore the black lab, Victor F for the toad)

- Whenever the clean either houses they have Victorian/True Crime podcasts playing through each speaker, if not then some songs from Sweeny Todd or Nightmare Before Christmas

- PAINTED NAILS GALORE!!!

Extra Hangouts:

- When enough money is saved the three (sometimes Amanda if she's free) go travel around America's and Europe's most famous areas.

- New Orleans: They visit the graveyard and have a cute little lunch/dinner with some graves and have some Gothic fun at Mardi Gras (y'all I wanna be them so bad!)

- Organ: They explore the beautiful forests and spend nights at cabins, they would spend some nights free from electricity besides pluming to feel like the old days

Nik Ryder Faceclaim: Dominic Sherwood aka. Jace from The Shadowhunters

New Orleans always looked beautiful at night. Shops, restaurants, bars and dance pools were gleaming with bright colors and flashing lights. People were strolling around happily to enjoy the cool breeze and the city nightlife, but they were not aware of the dark side of this world. The World of Night! It was full of magic, supernatural creatures and other paranormal beings. Vampires, werewolves, witches, zombies, faes, trolls, unicorns, shapeshifters, wizards, goblins and whatever.

After a short walk through the city, a young, blonde-haired man entered a bar, called the Graveyard Shift. He was carrying a mysterious letter which he found in his letterbox outside the bar. Happy faces of the people inside the building greeted him as he entered... but, they all weren't ordinary people.

"Nik, my mortal, how was the hunt?", the handsome bartender greeted him with his British-like accent.

Nik, the blonde-haired man took a seat next to two of his friends and replied. "Hey Garrus, I could use a drink right now. Had a difficult hunt tonight. The usual, please."

Garrus, the bartender started mixing Nik's order with magical ingredients. Yes, he's not human. Garrus is Nik's best friend and a fae coming from another realm. He has white skin, sapphire-blue eyes, and white hair that licked up in the front. The fae also has some stubbles on his face, and pointy ears, and is wearing a white button-up with a gray vest over the top. Garrus is a very kind person and always ready to help his friends. He's a passable dancer, dreadful musician, and excellent mixologist. His favorite drink is the Pixie Punch.

After preparing the order, Garrus walked towards Nik and placed it on the table infront of him. A snake-tequila. A drink with an extremly sour taste which made his eyes water a little, it looked like as if a dead snake was swimming inside of it. And the hunter needed that drink with that nasty taste, to calm down his nerves. Nik is a nighthunter who hunts evil supernatural creatures and protects the World of Night beeing discovered by the human eyes.

Nik's other two friends, Ivy and Krom were sitting on the opposite side of the booth, enjoying their own drinks. Krom loves his Cocoa Couldron while Ivy doesn't and prefers her Seasalt Slurry. And yes, they're not human either.

Krom is a stone-troll who weared a red shirt on his stone skin. Tiny fangs peaking outside of his mouth. His friend, Ivy describes him as being a big teddy bear, even though he looks mean on the outside. Generally, Krom is soft-spoken, sweet, kind, and polite, but has insecurities. He thinks he is a "nobody" and not even that strong for a troll. He doesn't think he is good at talking to people.

And Ivy is a zombie girl with long purple and pink ombre hair with bangs. She has red glowing eyes and gray skin. She wears a short black Victorian goth style blouse, black leather trousers and applied dark red lipstick on her lips. Even though Ivy is a goth, she has a much more cheerful and happy personality. She likes to think of herself as "mostly dead" and says her state is everything she ever wanted. Ivy finds her glowing eyes cool and likes her diverse social circle. She is intelligent, as Garrus refers to her as their lady of sterling intellect and Nik refers to her as their peerless creatureologist since she helps Nik to identify any supernatural creature he is dealing with.

"Hey Nik, why are you staring at the envelope? What's in it?", Krom asked worriedly the hunter who kept his eyes on it while sipping the snake-tequila.

"I don't know, Krom. I found this in my letterbox outside and it's pretty heavy if you ask me. I wonder what's inside."

"You'll never know without opening it, silly.", Ivy marveled and immediatly took it away from him to open it.

"Hey, that's mine!"

"Oooh, who do we have have here? A beautiful girl!!", Ivy excitedly cheered as she pulled a photo of a young woman outside of the envelope.

"Ivy, give that back or... Jesus, she's... she's hot. I mean...", Nik startled as Ivy finally showed him the picture of a pretty woman. He dropped his jaws and his cheeks turned into a soft shade of red.

It was a young and beautiful woman smiling on the picture who probably was in the same age like Nik. Her soft skin was glowing and her chocolate-brown eyes held a mysterious spark inside. But what the blonde admired about her the most, was the long, wavy silver hair which looked so natural.

"Is she even human? I mean, that's another level of beauty I never saw.", Ivy teased the nighthunter and held the picture a little more closer to his face. Her manicured finger pointed at the woman's red lips.

"Ivy, stop messing around with Nik. And look, there's something written at the back of the photo", the stone-troll stated. Krom took the photo away from Ivy and placed it on the wooden table with it's backside turned.

"Protect her" was written on it and also tomorrow's date, a time and a location in New Orleans.

"Ooooh, Nik has to protect the pretty girl."

"Not funny Miss Ivy, she's my client and she could be in danger. Guess, some anonymous benefactor wants me to protect her."

"The way you looked at her...", Ivy tried to tease him more, but immediatly got interrupted by him.

"Ivy, she's my client!! I'm a professional nighthunter who only does the job and who knows, maybe she's already in a relationship with someone. Besides, you all know that I don't do relationships anymore and I don't need one. Elijah taught me to become independent and not to trust anyone. This world we're all livin' is cruel, we all need to survive and try our best to protect everyone from evil. I hunt the evil."

Garrus, Krom and Ivy got silent after hearing the hunter's words. Nik is very professional when it comes to his job. However, he also appears to love money. From the beginning Elijah, his adoptive father taught him to move on without attachments, as that was the only way to make it in this world without letting it grind him down.

The fae's sapphire-blue eyes fell on the big envelope which was still filled with something. He took it in his hands and pulled out a lot of bank notes of money. Everyone gasped at the sight of the big amount of cash coming out from only one envelope.

"Ahh, that's more than a millio... Hmm, hmm, hmm,...", Krom immediatly placed a hand infront of Ivy's mouth before she could scream it all loud.

Garrus quickly stashed the big amount of money back inside the envelope and handed it back to Nik who immediatly stashed it inside his pockets to avoid beeing seen by strangers who might be interested. The whole gang confused, but acted like as if nothing happened. Nik quickly finished his drink, said goodbye to his three friends and left the bar. He only had to climb a few stairs up and reached his apartment. Entering the living room of his apartment, the hunter quickly locked the front door and headed to a nearby table to count the cash which Garrus found inside the envelope.

"Damn, six figures only to protect a woman??! She must be somehow very important to someone, that's why the big amount of cash. A jackpot!!", he talked to himself. "Whoever you are, mystery lady, I'll protect you. But from who or... from what?"

Honestly picturing Asra as a vampire is weird asf? Like I almost cannot compute 

Vamps are all ~ooooo darkness and gothic stuff and skulls and whatever

And Asra’s like…

So honestly I feel like he’d be more of a modern True Blood style vamp? Like was probably chose to become a vamp because he sees it as an opportunity to have forever with MC, and to be able to experience all the miracles of life for hundreds of years

Definitely isn’t plagued with the existential bog of usual vampire lore. Being alive for millenia, able to witness advances in medicine, music, technology, art, science, etc, in real time? And do it all with MC by his side? He sees it as a gift and is always thankful

I picture his vampirism as being more of a… form of magic for him. He discusses in his route how things like blood, bone, etc are very powerful catalysts for magic. So he would probably look at it like an exchange; he takes blood and it enhances his magical ability and gives him certain powers.

He’s not a “unable to sleep” kind of vamp, or a “can’t come out in the sun” vamp. Magicks himself able to come into indirect sunlight for limited amounts of time, and spends just as much time sleeping as he did when he was mortal. His dreams as a vampire are intensely vivid and detailed. 

He spends a great deal of his new life in university or studying abroad; he wants to visit literally every place on the globe, learn every language, study every subject. His library is vast and he spends many years of his new life simply travelling and collecting ancient magical tomes. His new not-so-alive but not-quite-undead state enhances his magical connection to the Beyond, or afterlife, whatever you prefer. He definitely learns to dabble in realm-walking, time-bending, and necromancy.

Isn’t ashamed of needing blood to survive, but it does take him a few years to be able to master convincing (seducing) mortals to let him feed from them. He never drains his partners, only takes as much as he needs to sustain himself, and greatly prefers that the experience be co-mingled with sex and sensuality. His bites impart a very potent high. If MC isn’t also a vampire, he’ll feed exclusively on them; they might request he bite them during sex more often than he feels is safe for their health. If MC is also an immortal, Asra will absolutely relish feeding with them, finding alluring partners to fuck and feed on and lavish with attention. 

He actually feels worse about feeding on animals than he does humans; after all, they can’t consent. But he has been forced to a few times, and he will sometimes indulge in a quick bite of new or exotic species.

Julian ~

Julian is. Without a doubt. THE definitive angst-fest of the vampire world.

He’d definitely be a Twilight style vamp. Don’t fight me on this. He and Edward would be Melodramatic Self Loathing Woe Is Me Vampire bros and spend years writing mopey poetry and sighing dramatically into their crystal goblet of blood.

Julian is definitely a fancy OG Victorian goth kind of vampire. Loves the theater of black velvet capes and flashing his fangs. He’s been alive long enough to have procured a crumbling castle deep in a foggy crop of woods, filled with portraits of him through the centuries. Like any good drama queen, his time is torn between his corpse-like slumber in his red velvet tufted interior/gleaming obsidian exterior coffin, listlessly floating around his lonely palace lamenting his damnation as a creature of the night, and secretly relishing in the drama of luring pretty young mortals back to his haunt with a mysterious air and a flash of pearly fangs. He’ll never admit how much he loves the dance he must do with his prey (feeding is very much tied to sex and self loathing in equal measure for Julian), but he doesn’t skimp on aesthetics. If you’re looking to be bowed over a silk chaise lounge, his frilly shirt sleeves tickling your throat as he opens his mouth wide and sinks his teeth in with a toss of his hair, then Julian is your guy. He’s basically the cinema vamp archetype.

Almost certainly wasn’t changed by choice. I think he’d probably have gotten himself mixed up with an immortal many centuries ago, when he practiced human medicine, and maybe he got… infected somehow? Vampirism does seem to be a bloodborne pathogen.

I imagine most of his lonely nights would be spent reading and studying. After he was able to get his bloodlust under control, he’d definitely go back into the medical field. His passion is helping people, and his new, keener senses help in diagnostics. 

If MC is mortal and wants him to change them, he’ll be deeply, deeply conflicted. On one hand, he does believe he’s an abomination of nature, a demon, wretched and hopeless. But on the other hand, his long weary existence would be so much brighter with MC at his side for the rest of his days. Could he really damn them to eternal night? 

If MC meets him as a fellow vampire however… ooooooooooooh, boy. All bets are off. He might just realize he’s not doomed, after all. Could this existence really be so horrid if it means getting to spend eternity staring into his gorgeous MC’s eyes while they share a meal and explore every kink ever known to man or demon?

This boy definitely wants MC to bite him during sex if they’re both vamps, whether they’re able to feed off him or not. And the whole vampire-strength and stamina thing comes in handy when he just needs a three day long shibari suspension sesh.

Vampire Julian is still a major bottom. The closest he ever comes to topping is when he sinks his fangs in. Vamp MC topping the fuck out of him? And using his vampire self-loathing as fodder for major degradation play (with consent)? It’s more likely than you’d think.

Dark Victorian Legacy Challenge

Do you love mysteries, horror, the occult and the monstrous? Were you fascinated by The Dracula, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and other era-defining novels of Victorian sensational literature? Do you wish to add a generous dose of spicy drama to your Sims game? Then this 7-generation rollercoaster is the right challenge for you.

Start with a gothic mansion. You can use the Goth house in Willow Creek, or the Straud castle in the Hollow. Evict the owners before moving in. You may also build/download your own mansion in any world, but it has to be placed away from community lots. Once you have chosen the appropriate lot, your family may Not move out of here, because we need to establish a circulation of horrific legends around that house, and that takes generations. After building the mansion (no limit to its value), and without placing Any objects in it from buy mode, use money cheat and reduce your funds to 2000. You must purchase your lifestyle necessities within this amount. (To make the bill situation easy, build only as much of the mansion as you need for the Founder. You can always expand later). Lifespan should be set to normal, but you may use long if you wish. CC, especially historical/gothic cc is encouraged. But No MC Command Centre except for Story Progression of other families. Gender-bending is allowed for everyone except Camilla (7th gen), who must be a woman.

1st Generation: Dorian Gray

(from The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. This famously beautiful man received eternal youth while his painting gathered the impressions of his sins.) -Complete Serial Romantic and Mischief aspirations - Romantic, Art lover traits - Must complete Social Media career, Internet Personality Branch - Max out Media Production skill - Must use youth potion five times, and die as soon as possible after reaching Elder age. Is allowed to die earlier, but no cheats. - His spouse(s) may not prolong lifespan in any way. - Have a spouse paint a picture of him, to be given pride of place in the house, preferably hung over the drawing room fireplace. - Must have atleast 10 romantic relationships that reach the boyfriend-girlfriend level, with both men and women. - Must have atleast five bitter enemies at the time of death, on each of whom he has performed voodoo during his lifetime.

2nd Generation: Jekyll and Hyde

(from The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. Jekyll's serum transformed him into Hyde, who went on murderous rampages) -These two must be twins (you may use the Ley Line lot trait) - Hyde must have Mean, Hot-headed, Active traits. - Hyde must max out fitness skill and bodybuilder aspirations. -Hyde must go out every other night, to fight atleast one sim (have atleast five different sims you have fought), and kick over any dustbins in the premises, when angry. Hyde cannot fight Jekyll. -Hyde lives well past adulthood, but dies before he and Jekyll become elders. After Hyde's death, give Jekyll the Hot-headed trait by deleting one of his previous traits. This symbolises Jekyll's slow transformation into Hyde. -Hyde must not have children, or even a job. He cannot garden, paint or write books. -Jekyll must have Genius trait -Jekyll must max out Logic -Jekyll must reach the top of the Scientist career -Jekyll must complete the Nerd Brain aspiration.

3rd Generation: Frankenstein and the Monster

(from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Victor Frankenstein creates an artificial human to prove his scientific prowess, but is unable to accept it as anything but an abomination) -Victor Frankenstein has Ambitious and Perfectionist traits -Maximize Handiness and Logic skill -Reach the top of Doctor career -Also max the Renaissance Sim aspiration -Get engaged to childhood best friend -Monster, named Adam, has to be aged up with as low Toddler and Child skills as posibble. -Adam has Gloomy trait -Once a teenager, use cas.fulleditmode to give Adam the best-looking version of each facial and bodily feature, according to you. You must NOT consider whether the features look good together, on the person. -Adam must fulfill the Writer career -Also finish the Bestselling Author aspiration, but never be in the spotlight of fame. He is anonymous to the world. -Must seduce Victor's bride and make her break up with him.

4th Generation: Griffin

(from The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells. A researcher of optics discovers an invisibility serum, and embarks on a series of crimes, taking advantage of his new ability. In this challenge, we follow his representation in Alan Moore's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) - Loner - Must reach top of Detective career - Complete microscope prints collection - A maximum of two friends throughout his life, may not leave the house except for job or aspiration requirement. - May have one romantic interest except the two friends, whom he eventually marries. - Spouse must not bring in any money while moving in, but must have/join Business career afterwards, if you choose to give them a career.

5th Generation: Quasimodo

(from the Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo. Consigned to a life of unfair humiliation, Quasimodo rebels and displays heroism in his doomed love of Esmeralda, and his desire to do the right thing.) -Unflirty, Loner, Gloomy traits -Must be lovebirds with a married sim, but never get them divorced from their spouse. Must become lovebirds with only one sim in his entire life. -May have/adopt only one child. -Quasimodo has to max the Manual Labourer job as a teen, and max out the Gardner career in YA and Adulthood. Switches to Detective career as an elder. -Death by starvation.

6th Generation: Gabriel Ernest, the Werewolf

(from the story Gabriel Ernest by Saki. A wolf steals farm animals and children from a nearby village, and the author secretly views an enigmatic young man by a river, who transforms into the wolf) -You may use the werewolf mod to make this character more realistic, but the instructions here apply regardless. -Must reach the top of Criminal career -And max the Outdooor Enthusiast aspiration. -Must complete the frog collection. -Must maximise the fishing skill. -Must have a dog that closely resembles a wolf. Relationship with dog must be the highest at all times. -Spouse must be Evil, and a vampire. (You can create a custom sim for this)

7th Generation: Dracula and Camilla

(from Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Camilla by Joseph Sheridan le Fanu. Dracula invites visitors to his castle for sustenance, whereas Camilla travels to the houses of nobility to drink plasma from their daughters.) -Complete Mansion Baron aspiration for both, which should be easy, and right after that, Dracula completes Master Vampire aspiration, and Camilla completes World Famous Celebrity. -Cannot become vampires before Adulthood. -Camilla is Romantic and Self-assured. -Dracula is Evil and Music lover -Dracula and Camilla must have 4 soulmate-level romantic relationships each. Dracula dates both men and women, and Camilla only dates women. -Carmilla must fulfill the Actress career. -Dracula must fulfill the Politics career. -Whenever guests come over, Dracula attempts to drink plasma from them and convert them into vampires. Camilla only drinks from sims after flirting with them successfully. (No plasma fruit for either) Congratulations! The challenge ends when both Dracula and Camilla have completed all the conditions. For extra difficulty, use only fireplaces, candles and wall sconces for lighting; and/or don’t let any vampire look into a mirror.

Disclaimer and Scoring: I have not made the mod restrictions too stringent, because this challenge is mainly about gothic fiction fans having fun. Same reason why I have not customised a scoring system. If you would like to score yourself, just count one point for every condition mentioned here.

Glad you liked it! Yes. Yes!

Honestly? They might not understand it personally but they would be more than supportive. I believe that that stands to go for the entire RFA. They might not be personally invested at first, but if their partner is? They’re going to be drawn in some way, shape, or form. 

I can see V and Zen being the kind of guys that would appreciate it artistically, and really want to see how far it can be taken if their partner is super into it. The entire aesthetic is pretty regal in it of itself.

So, Zen is going to admire the craftsmanship as well as how boss it makes somebody look. He’s going to be the easiest to get to dress up with you. V is gonna be thinking how cool it would be to put that down to paper, like modern meets past art scene. Jumin is going to want to know the semantics here, how each moving part works and why and how you came to appreciate it so much. 

I sort of see it the same way that they would react to a Lolita MC, or a Goth MC, etc. There are varying levels of support but they all think it’s neat. I’m really fond of classy aesthetics as well as dressing in enough petticoats to become a human cupcake, so I do like to imagine how the RFA would react and be invested in an MC who had non-comfortative styles of dress.
