Emilia Clarke cumple 37 años

Emilia Clarke, que este 23 de octubre cumple 37 años, le debe su reconocimiento internacional a su personaje de Daenerys Targaryen en la popular serie de televisión "Game of Thrones" (2011-2019). Para conseguir ese papel, que le permitió afianzarse en la industria, atravesó un loco casting.

Nacida en 1986 en Londres, Inglaterra, se interesó por la actuación desde muy chica, especialmente en las obras teatrales. Logró ingresar a la importante escuela de teatro británica Drama Centre London, donde se graduó en 2009. Para entonces, ya se había subido varias veces a los escenarios.

Tras algunas apariciones menores en televisión y algunos comerciales, llegó el punto de inflexión de su carrera: la serie fantástica de HBO "Game of Thrones", que está basada en la saga de novelas "Canción de hielo y fuego", de George R. R. Martin.

Una parte del casting de Emilia Clarke para "Game of Thrones" fue grabada en video y fue subida a YouTube. Allí puede verse el por qué la actriz británica logró quedarse con el papel protagónico: durante tres minutos, dijo varias líneas del personaje Daenerys Targaryen y, a través de sus expresiones faciales y sus cambios de voz, transmitió a la perfección diferentes emociones.

I would add to the short (I'll assume that the author didnt' go over most of the following points out of brevity and trying to keep it to a short format): While there's many movements and tactics in various types and styles of swordsmanship, be it olympic fencing, KDF, Bolognese school, military saber, a koryu, etc. we can really see a lot of overlap amongst them across different contexts and systems in many many ways. However which details are emphasized, which are avoided, what are the underlying principles being focused on, how does this specific technique fit into the wider approach to fencing, these can all be extremely different on a wider scale. Part of HEMA is trying to understand both the generalities and how the specific system one studies diverges from them, as well as why. Sometimes the reasons are cultural, sometimes tied to material circumstances of various sorts, etc.

For those unfamiliar when the author uses the term 'german longsword' it tends to refer to Kunst Des Fechtens(KDF) meaning The Art of Combat, and there's a solid number of different sources in the tradition. Alongside that there's a number of sources from the Holy Roman Empire that are not a part of KDF as such but may be meant alongside it within 'german longsword'.

Here's an excellent video summarizing the basic ideas of various principles and techniques found within it.

Here’s also another post overviewing KDF concepts in a more general framework that’s a bit less focused with mechanics and a bit more with the philosophy around it all and practical tactical issues as well that you may enjoy.

It's beautifully done in slow-motion, with the full swing being shown, leading with the "true edge" and swapping to the "false edge" even as the arms start to cross the body, bringing it back around to the true edge again in the follow-through...

...We literally get to see this person failing, failing, almost succeeding, mostly succeeding, succeeding again...the whole progression of learning how to do this advanced swordsmanship technique. It's a wonderful sequence that's being shared with us.

Transwomen are no threat yet the transcult is sending bomb threats to two professors

Two Spanish psychologists are under siege by violent trans activists at one of Spain’s top universities following the release of their book critiquing gender ideology.

In February of this year, Drs. José Errasti and Marino Pérez Álvarez published a book titled Nobody is Born in the Wrong Body: The Success and Misery of Gender Identity. The book was intended to provide an academic critique of queer theory, and refutes current transgender trends in medicine and psychology as a byproduct of postmodernism.

Immediately after the release of the book, Errasti and Álvarez began receive disturbing threats from trans activists across Spain.

At a conference for the book held at the University of Palma in April, a photo of Errasti and Álvarez with death-like crosses over their eyes was circulated by activists looking to brigade the event. The conference was ultimately cancelled due to the overwhelming threat of violence.

Later that same evening, multiple police vans had to protect the entrance of a book launch at the Casa del Libro in Palma de Mallorca, but that event was similarly cancelled due to the risk.

Another event for the book at a store in Barcelona was met with similar threats, and also had to be cancelled after police informed Errasti and Álvarez that activists were intending to set the bookstore on fire.

But a fresh wave of terror has erupted at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) this past week, where graffiti has emerged around the Faculty of Politics buildings threatening violence against “transphobic professors.”

While neither psychologists are currently teaching at the school, the threats were written on the pages of Errasti and Álvarez’s book.

Threatening to burn “TERFs at the stake” and leave bombs under the cars of gender critical professors, some of the signs have been marked with the slogan “the Inqueersition” — a clear reference to the group of powerful institutions within the Catholic Church established in the 12th century to punish heretics.

On October 27, a trans activist group claimed responsibility for the signs, issuing a short Twitter statement that the action had been prompted by the discovery that Errasti and Álvarez’s book had been stocked in the University’s library.

The Asociación TransMariBiBollo (LGBTI), which loosely translates to the Trans-Sissy-Bi-Dyke Association, wrote on Twitter: “We are tired of transphobia on the part of the teaching staff and the UCM. We want all transphobic books out of our libraries and an end to hate speech on our campus.”

LGBTI had reportedly taken out all copies of Errasti and Álvarez’s book from the library and destroyed them in order to make the signs.

Despite the often-violent nature of the disruptions, Errasti doesn’t express much concern for his safety, and instead points to a Streisand effect taking place.

“Every time there has been an incident, it has caused a significant increases in book sales,” he says. “In fact, the highest moment of book sales occurred as a result of what happened in Barcelona, where our book trended as the 4th best-selling book in Spain in all categories for about 24 hours.”

Trans activists in Spain are notoriously aggressive, and have frequently used threats of death or violence against political opponents in the past.

Earlier this year, a trans rights organization in Basque, Spain began releasing a series of disturbing videos in which balaclava-clad activists read off disturbing statements while standing in front of a trans-pride flag, obviously in the styling of a terrorist group. OZEN!LGBT members used a voice changer while appearing to call for the gender identity clinic at the University Hospital Cruces to be burned down.

The activists were dissatisfied with the service at the clinic, but did not elaborate on why.

In 2021, a corpse-like effigy of Spain’s then-Deputy Prime Minister Carmen Calvo was strung up from a tree in the Plaza 8 de Marzo in Compostela ahead of International Women’s Day.

Calvo had become a target for trans activists after she signed a Socialist Party statement criticizing gender self-identification, and voiced concerns over transgender legislation.

Every time I enter the wanda tag is always the same with the post “wanda is Jewish-Romani” “elizabeth olsen is racist” “I hate the mcu because is ...phobic and racist” but the one i hate to hear the most is “If you like wanda (mcu) or/and elizabeth olsen is because you are racist..

Listen I not a person who knows a lot about comics (I would like to do it) I've read a few comics and watched some videos of people narrating them.

I know that the maximoff twins have a complicate stories (If erik is the father or not, If they are mutants etc).

but some people(most pro-lgtb,anti-racist-anti-facist etc) want wanda (they dont care pietro) “”””really jewish ”””” ,black,big nose and long hair because yes and they want to eliminate elizabeth because she not has one of th when I hear this is, I say THIS IS RACIST.

Because is for almost 60 years wanda was white yes I know that recently some comics they draw wanda black but is is like: now you have you want, now leave me, you're annoying me.

they don't speak about some characters like thor his actor is a australian and not Norwegian, loki too, They complain a lot with the actress from América Chavez because she has a slightly lighter skin.

but they dont say anything about some white cis character changes.

Performative Villainy - Approaching the Hero with Confidence

Lesson: Perfecting Your Evil Laugh

As we open this semester of UCM, it's traditional to kick things off with something fun - and what's more fun than crafting your unique evil laugh?

Beyond the joy of letting your feelings out in a showy way, it can be a critical element to the way you present yourself as an adversary.

Just as a lion has their roar, a villain has their evil laugh. It defines your personality, strikes fear in the hearts of onlookers, and identifies you as a worthy adversary to even heroes like WordGirl.

For example, take Fair City's very own Dr. Two-Brain's, who is known for his evil cackle:

Given the ease with which your senior villains evil laugh, it's a common misconception that one needs only shout out "MWAHAHAHA."

However, a lot of technique and careful consideration goes into a well-crafted laugh.

Students, please review the following instructional video - "Maniacal Laughter for the Beginner" - to learn more about the physical technique behind a great evil laugh.

Once you've mastered this basic technique, it can be helpful to shaping your villain personality if you put some flair into your laugh.

Please take a look at the list below and decide what TYPE of laugh you're aiming for, or what smaller laughter you can punctuate your big MWAHAHA moment with.

It can take a while to decide on a good fit, so you're encouraged to play around with it. Approach this with curiosity, as you have plenty of time to solidify your villain identity throughout he semester.

The biggest rule of evil laughter is to listen to your body. As your instructor, I might be evil, but even I wouldn't want you to push it too far.

İspanya Sosyal Haklar Bakanı görevini vekaleten yürüten Ione Belarra, İsrail’in Gazze’de “planlı bir soykırım yürüttüğünü” belirterek, İsrail Başbakanı Binyamin Netanyahu’nun “savaş suçu” işlediği gerekçesiyle Uluslararası Ceza Mahkemesinde (UCM) yargılanması gerektiğini söyledi. El Mundo’nun haberine göre Belarra, sosyal medya hesabından yayımladığı video mesajda “ABD ve Avrupa Birliği’ni (AB), İsrail’in işlediği savaş suçlarına ortak olmakla” suçladı. Filistin’den gelen görüntülere içi parçalanarak baktığını belirten Belarra, İsrail’in Gazze’ye yönelik saldırılarına ilişkin, “İsrail devleti, Gazze’de planlı bir soykırım yürütüyor” dedi. Belarra, İsrail’in sivillerin yaşadığı bölgeleri bombalamasının ve onları topluca cezalandırmasının, uluslararası hukuku ihlal ettiğini ve “savaş suçu” işlediğini dile getirerek, “Bu gerçeğe bakarsak ABD ve AB, sadece buna göz yummakla kalmayıp aynı zamanda İsrail devletini apartheid politikasında ve insan haklarını ihlal eden işgalinde destekliyor” görüşünü paylaştı. Hamas’ın İsrailli sivillere yönelik saldırılarının, İsrail’in işlediği “suçların” mazereti olamayacağına dikkati çeken Belarra, hem İspanya hem de tüm Avrupa halkını sokaklara İsrail’i protestoya çağırdı. Silahlı gruplar, daha sonra buradan İsrail içindeki yerleşim yerlerine girmiş, İsrail ordusu da onlarca savaş uçağıyla Gazze Şeridi’ne saldırı başlatmıştı. Gazze’den düzenlenen saldırılarda 286’sı asker 1300 İsraillinin öldüğü, 3 bin 436 İsraillinin yaralandığı aktarılmıştı. Filistin Sağlık Bakanlığı, İsrail’in saldırılarında Gazze’de 2 bin 750 kişinin öldüğünü, 9 bin 700 kişinin yaralandığını duyurmuştu. İşgal altındaki Batı Şeria’da da İsrail güçlerinin ve Yahudi yerleşimcilerin saldırılarında 58 Filistinlinin öldüğü, yaklaşık 1250 kişinin yaralandığı belirtilmişti. İsrail’in saldırılarında ayrıca Gazze’de 9, Lübnan’da da 1 gazeteci yaşamını yitirmişti. Lübnan'ın güneyindeki İsrail sınırında 8 Ekim’den bu yana Hizbullah ve İsrail ordusu arasında çıkan çatışmalarda ise şu ana kadar 3 sivil ile 4 Hizbullah milisi ve 2 Filistin İslami Cihad Hareketi üyesi hayatını kaybetti. Lübnan tarafından düzenlenen saldırılarda da 3 İsrail askeri öldü.
