Writer's Game: First Sentences
Rules: post the first sentence of your last ten fics. If you haven't written ten fics, share as many first-sentences as you have.
Tagged by @mirrordaltokki
I don't really have anyone to tag that hasn't already been tagged, so if you stumble upon this somehow and haven't been, consider yourself tagged. xD
Just going to go in order of most recently updated, because why not.
1: Even Were I Blind: FFXIV, Haurchefant/named WoL, a sort of soulmate AU semi-fix it...thing. E rating, heavy on the angst, mostly set in Shadowbringers for the moment. Updated at random and sometimes extremely long intervals.
The first time he sees her, it stops him in his tracks.
2. Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Sun: FFXIV, Magnai/named WoL. M rated for now. Another ongoing fic being updated whenever the whims of fate allow. Definitely not entirely an excuse to torment Magnai.
Night falls over the Steppe, an endless expanse of star-strewn darkness settling over restless winds.
3. A Key (that could use a little turning): FFXIV, Sue-Rend/unnamed WoL. E rated. A self-indulgent one shot based entirely on the random thought of someone trying to distract the WoL during a bit of a heist.
“What is taking so long?”
4. Forever is Our Today: FFXIV, Azem/Emet-Selch. G rated. A fluffy little piece about a beach day, and my first foray into a fic exchange through a fanfic discord.
How many eons passing had it taken for wind and water to carve away the looming sea cliffs, to grind down the wall of rock into the finest of fragments?
5. Chances That Were Lost To Us Forever: FFXIV, Foulques/named WoL. E rated. I'll say it again: Foulques was done dirty by the lancer quests and he deserved better. This was my attempt to make it up to him.
It was just her fortune that the one cave she could find in the blinding storm already had an occupant.
6. A Dragon's Taste: FFXIV, Estinien/unnamed WoL. E rated. A silly idea inspired on a discord conversation that somehow turned into multiple chapters of smut.
"Ooh, what is that?"
7. Thus to Dream: FFXIV, Urianger/named WoL. M rated. A modern AU piece done for a trope challenge from a fanfic discord. Actually has a second chapter in progress, though when it will make it out of my WIP folder is anyone's guess. >_>
The wind drove the rain against the window, the sound less of a patter and more a collective thud.
8. Like Falling Stars, We Fade Away: FFXIV, Cerigg/named WoL. E rated. The Shadowbringers role quests NPCs are underappreciated. I also had an idea for a heat fic, using a different sort of heat for Au Ra that I wanted to try out. The BLM AU for my main WoL Vieryne.
Cerigg sighed heavily as he lowered his tankard to find Taynor's anxious visage at his side once more.
9. Birds of a Feather: FFXIV, Karasu/named WoL. E rated. I love this lunatic gremlin, and he was the perfect choice for Vieryne's NIN AU. Not much more needs be said, except perhaps that there's a second chapter in the works for this one as well.
“You've come far, my little chick!"
10. The Finer Points of the Craft: FFXIV, Brithael Spade/unnamed WoL. E rated. Still one of my favorite rarepairs. Just wanted to show the best crafting NPC some love...on an anvil...in the middle of the forge.
“Forgemaster?”

Chapter 8: Don’t lose your fire
Session 8 - 01/03/2020
September 12th,  36 TE. With the notice of Belziros that it might take a couple of days for him to gain access to the library, the trio decided to go do the quest in Nisher. Uncertain of what they actually needed to do, they went by the League of Coins. Raevyn told the party that she was nervous to go to the League of Coin since they had just killed one of its members. She wasn’t particularly good at this whole secret thing so she was going to find a place to get some diamonds. They would meet back at Belziros again before heading out to Nisher. Raevyn took the gemstones and found a bank where she could change the currency. It wasn’t possible to get some diamonds for it but the banker did exchange the gems for 1768 gold. Which seemed like a good deal to Raevyn. She exchanged the gems into gold and made her way back to Belziros. Meanwhile, Arati and Vieryn got some clarification on their contract. Arati mentioned that they believe the actual owner of the tavern was killed. Did they still need to make the owner pay or confiscate the property? The man-made clear that he wanted the key to the place, he didn’t care too much about the ‘new owner’. With that information, they left the League of Coin and waited for Raevyn to come around. Walking up north Vieryn said he wanted to stop by the Burning Grove to make amends with Nemia. He wasn’t able to come back to her the night before and let her down. Walking up to the Burning Grove, the party sat down at a table as Vieryn made his way over to Nemia. ‘’I am really sorry Nemia, I wasn’t able to make it last night. I was kind of - out of it.’’ He scratched the back of his head, thinking back at what happened in the Flirtatious Fairy. ‘’Out of it?’’ she asked him with the cold shoulder. ‘’You know, I drank some Devil’s Delight and it just didn’t hit well.’’ Nemia started laughing at Vieryn. ‘’You were never one to hold your liquor well. So you were at the Flirtatious Fairy? Getting high on drugs and alcohol just like me, you & Alexander liked to do?’’ She cocked her eyebrow at him. ‘’Yes, but it was for a reason. The little one came up with a plan to take out Marvin.’’ Vieryn pointed at Raevyn who was counting down the money she got from the bank. ‘’So you're telling me that the elven girl that screamed ‘murder’ in this tavern, came up with a murder plan?’’ Nemia frowned at Vieryn. ‘’Yes and it was a good plan, I just had to get him drunk and so ended up drunk myself. However, I want to make it up to you.’’ He leans on to the bar. ‘’You can make up to me by buying me a drink.’’ Nemia picks up one of the most expensive bottles she has and pours herself a glass. ‘’Ah, of course. Sure how much?’’ Vieryn grins and reaches for his purse. ‘’10 gold please.’’ Damn, that woman knew what game she was playing. Vieryn laid down 10 gold. ‘’Oh and you owe me a night, you better come back Vieryn.’’ Nemia’s gaze got a bit more intense. ‘’Well, I will be gone for a couple of days. I might come back with a new scar.’’ he winks at Nemia. ‘’Who likes pretty boys without scars anyway? Scars tell stories.’’ Nemia smirks at Vieryn as he heads for the party table. ‘’150!’’ Raevyn yells out. ‘’What are we doing?’’ Vieryn asks Arati and sits down. ‘’Raevyn is distributing the party funds equally.’’ Arati looks at the pile of platinum and gold coins on their table. ‘’Each of you gets 50 platinum.’’ Raevyn gives them their shares. ‘’The rest of it goes in the party funds!’’ They talk a little bit about what to do next. Raevyn mentions that if they are going to Nisher she’d need to have some diamonds. She is wondering if Nemia may have some access to them. Vieryn wants to hold her back but she already stood up and made her way to the bar. She had observed Vieryn many times when he hung around Nemia, so she decided to imitate his behavior, leaned into the bar and smiled at her. ‘’So Nemia, do you happen to have any diamonds?’’ Nemia doesn’t really appreciate the approach of Raevyn. ‘’I warned you Raevyn.’’ she says, minding her own business. ‘’Oh, you remember my name?’’ Nemia turns around and crosses her arms. ‘’I know your name and I know where you sleep.’’ Raevyn squints her eyes at Nemia. ‘’Yes, next to Vieryn.’’ you could see the rage in Nemia’s eyes gather, but Vieryn pushed the two apart. He again apologizes to Nemia and promises he makes up for it. ‘’That girl is going to get you killed, Vieryn.’’ Nemia rolls her eyes and goes back to work. With their bags full of gold and no diamonds, they went to the Arcane District. If there was anywhere in town they would sell diamonds, it would be here. It was a rather aesthetic place. A circular plaza with small magic shops around it. One of them with the name ‘Stardust Supplies’. They entered the store and the inside was breathtaking. The ceiling itself was an illusion of our galaxy. A female tiefling with sparkling skin welcomed the party. ‘’Welcome to the Stardust Supplies, my name is Elise Starborn, what can I help you with?’’ Raevyn seemed particularly interested in this store. ‘’I am looking for diamonds for spellcasting, do you happen to have some?’’ ‘’Certainly, I do. Are you a student at the Academy?’’ Raevyn shakes her head. ‘’Do I need to be a student before I can buy anything here?’’ Elise smiles at the girl. ‘’No, it’s just that students get materials for a cheaper price.’’ Elise walks to the back and gets two diamonds for Raevyn. ‘’You do look familiar though. Have I seen you before?’’ Elise asks Raevyn. She thinks hard but can’t remember ever encountering Elise. ‘’You may know my dad, he works at the Academy apparently,’’ she answers while putting down the 10 platinum pieces. ‘’Who might that be then?’’ ‘’Magnus Arcadia, long black hair, half-elven man.’’ Raevyn puts the diamonds in her backpack. ‘’Oh, Magnus! He was her roughly 3 days ago. I know him yes.’’ Raevyn looks back at Elise. ‘’Wait he was here? 3 days ago? I have been looking for him! What do you know about him? Where did he go?’’ Raevyn almost leaped over the counter. ‘’Wow there, I don’t ask my customers about what they are doing. I just know he bought some rare chalk, gem dust and some incense.’’ Elise responded to the eager girl. Raevyn sighed and let her head hang. ‘’Oh, well if you see  him, can you mention that his daughter is looking for him?’’ Elise nodded. ‘’I will do that. Anything else you wanted to purchase?’’ Raevyn tabs her chin. ‘’Some more offensive magic?’’ Elise frowns at her. ‘’Can I see your Mage Legality paperwork then? I can’t sell offensive magic to ‘illegal mages’.’’ Raevyn never heard of these papers before. ‘’I don’t have that, but Magnus trained me himself! He works at the academy.’’ She tries to pursue her but fails. ‘’I am sorry Raevyn, I can’t sell you offensive magic.’’ a bit disappointed Raevyn wanders around the store while Vieryn commissions a hand-made dagger. After purchasing their necessities they go to the Oakgate stables. They ask for a ride to Nisher and the man gets a bit suspicious. ‘’Didn’t you buy a horse a couple of days ago?’’ Raevyn tries to tell the man that the horse is still in Nightdark with a friend of theirs but he doesn’t seem to buy it. He tells them the next ride to Nisher is tomorrow, by a guy named Fredrick. The party already knows this man and asks where he is off to now. The stablemaster tells them he had to make a trip to Nightdark a couple of days ago, escorting a grey-skinned tiefling woman. That’s a red flag. They know that person and what is going on in Nightdark at the moment. Fredrick was probably not coming back. ‘’It’s alright we will walk,’’ Arati told the man. ‘’You can always try the other stables.’’ the stablemaster yelled after them. Walking away from the stables, Raevyn noticed that the wanted poster for her dad had been taken off the board. She tries to think of explanations but Vieryn tells her not to overthink it. They arrive at the Irongate stables. They can provide the party with a ride to Nisher in a couple of hours. It’s some merchants from the Longsaw family that are going to Nisher. Vieryn being obviously a bit uncomfortable with this wants to back out, but Arati says that they will take it. After paying for the ride, they wait in a tavern across the road. Raevyn scribes in some spells while they are having some lunch. A young boy comes running into the tavern and tells them that the cart to Nisher is ready to leave. Raevyn gives him a silver coin and they walk out. On arrival, the carts look a lot more fortified than Vieryn could remember. Must have been alterations made by Alexander’s father. They take place in the cart. Next to them is a stoic Dwarf. There are some more people in the cart, talking about leaving Avarra cus the Plague was in Avarra now. The journey to Nisher itself was going to take roughly 8 hours of travel. The perfect time to rest a little bit. September 13th,  36 TE. In the early hours of the morning, the cart arrives at the gates of Nisher. The party is getting off and Raevyn tells the grumpy dwarf goodbye. He doesn’t seem to respond to her. She tries it again in Dwarvish. He looks up, a bit surprised that an elf just greeted him in Dwarvish. He nods at her. It is also here that Raevyn notices that the wanted posters of her dad are missing. ‘’Maybe he took them down himself and doesn’t want to be found.’’ Arati is trying to cheer her up but it doesn’t really seem to work. The city itself is pretty empty during this hour. There are some shopkeepers setting up their stalls and some drunkards wandering the streets. It would be the perfect timing to go to a tavern right now to get the keys. A plan was made to get the keys, Raevyn was going to be the bait and Arati and Vieryn were going to get the keys. When entering the Lying Weasel, the place seemed to be packed. There were some people sleeping on tables, probably passed out drunk. Raevyn talked to the owner, David. He remembered her from the previous encounter. He gave her rather short answers and seemed to be on edge. Raevyn ordered a drink and sat down at a table. Right as Arati and Vieryn came walking in. Arati got a lot of looks, being a hunter and all. Vieryn told her to go sit next to Raevyn since she would probably get in trouble later. Arati noted that and went to the back of the tavern to sit next to Raevyn. Raevyn took out Jinx and let her explore behind the bar. She saw that David was going into the back and she trailed him. He seemed to be packing something. ‘’Does Soralon think I am stupid? Sending a hunter after me?’’ Raevyn gasped and whispered to Arati. ‘’He is fleeing out of the backroom, stop him.’’ Arati took notice of that and ran past Vieryn. ‘’He is escaping, we need to stop him!’’ They both made their way outside and ran towards the back. Raevyn used her Misty Step to appear next to her familiar outside. She waited until the others caught up. They could hear a voice screaming from the tavern. ‘’David, Soralon is here to reclaim what is his.’’ They recognized his voice, it was Victor again. ‘’Apparently, Soralon is after this guy. I can trail him, but I need a minute.’’ Raevyn took a twig from the bush next to her and cast the Locate Object on one of the daggers David was holding. She got a ping not far from here, somewhere in an ally. They began to run after him and cornered him. ‘’I knew he would send someone after me,’’ David told the party as he took his dagger. Vieryn & Raevyn tried to pursue the man by giving up the keys, they were not here in the name of Soralon. He could just leave and start a new life if he handed over the keys. He didn’t buy it. ‘’What about this? You kill Soralon and then I will give you the keys.’’ Arati had enough of his bullshit, took out her scimitar and placed it against his throat. ‘’You are giving us the keys now. You either get killed by Soralon or by us, your choice.’’ The guy got scared of the hunter. ‘’Fine here, have it.’’ He ran out of the ally way. With the keys on hand, the party had fulfilled their quest. Walking out of the alley they saw ember sparks in the sky, it seemed that the tavern was on fire. Before they want to run off, Vieryn holds back Raevyn. ‘’Maybe it is better if you put on a hood, with fire around and you being an arcanist.’’ Raevyn understands and they decide to keep a low profile. Raevyn takes them back into the alley and changes Jinx's appearance to that of a raven again. ‘’Jinx, mimic this; FIRE’’ the raven repeats the words and flies around town. ‘’So much for keeping a low profile,’’ Vieryn added. ‘’At least everyone will know that there is a fire.’’ Arati laughed softly. Walking past the Lying Weasel, they could see people storming towards the fire with small buckets of water. They were talking of a demon or arcanist that had set fire to the tavern. Arati wanted to help out but the rest told her not to get involved. They could handle it themselves. They walked towards the Town Hall since Raevyn wanted to see if there was any news on her father. While walking there they saw some Priests of Melendi running towards the fire to help extinguish it. At the Town Hall there was indeed a letter for Raevyn. It contained all the wanted posters she had put up around the different towns, and a piece of hair, from her father. She was confused, what did this mean? Vieryn asked the lady from the Town Hall who delivered this letter. She told him it was a group of mercenary boys. While walking out of the Town Hall, Vieryn tried to calm Raevyn. He then spotted a group of boys hanging around the burning tavern. They seemed to look like the mercenaries that the lady had described. ‘’Give me a second, I’ll catch up,’’ he said to Arati & Raevyn. He took the letter with the wanted posters and walked over to the kids. He confronts the guys with it. They start provoking Vieryn by calling him names. Making fun of the little girl that is looking for her father. ‘’How did you get the hair?’’ Vieryn asks him. One of the guys took off his helmet and showed his own black hair. ‘’It’s just black hair, easy to trick. Imagine the face of the girl when she finds out.’’ he started laughing but one of the kids got rather anxious about the drow. ‘’Maybe we should stop guys?’’ Vieryn agrees and walks off without responding to the guys anymore. ‘’Yes run away Drow, I heard your kind are runners. Running away from the beasts in the Underdark.’’ Vieryn waves it off and walks back to the girls. He gives back the letter to Raevyn. ‘’Don’t worry about it Raevyn, just a bunch of kids fooling around. Just replace them around town again.’’ Raevyn gets a bit feisty and tells them to take her to the boys. Vieryn pushes her back and tells her it’s exactly the reason he went alone. The morning hit and they go around town. They visited Deidre to thank her for the tip to go to Belziros, got some fresh bread and went to look for a ride back to Avarra. They got themselves a spot on a cart that was leaving town late in the night. In the meantime, they got some rooms and had an off day to rest a bit. Raevyn wrote down some more spells and Arati wandered around town a bit until it was time to go. September 14th,  36 TE. A journey of half a day later the party arrived in Avarra again. A rather uneventful trip and a successful quest done. Going straight to the League of Coin to cash in their bounty. The man at the counter told them he would send someone to information about the status of the building. If it all seemed well, they would get paid after. Vieryn told the party that they should head to Belziros’ house to spend the night, he was going to spend it at the Burning Grove. They said goodbye and Arati and Raevyn walked up to Belziros’ house. Alensta opened the door and let the girls in. Arati told Alensta that Victor showed up in Nisher and that he escaped again. It made her a bit nervous, knowing that Victor was still around and so close. But being around Belziros made her less skittish. ‘’Come girls, you can sleep in my room.’’ Alensta walked upstairs but Raevyn stayed behind and called Arati back. ‘’Arati, Belziros gave me this spell a couple of days ago. I have been thinking of using it but I am too afraid, especially after finding out that all my posters had been ripped off the boards. I want to contact my father, but can you please hold my hand?’’ Raevyn asked her with a shaky voice. Arati nodded. ‘’I am here’’ She took Raevyn’s hand as she was casting the spell. ‘’Hey dad, It's almost been a month. I've been trying to find you. I'm in the capital right now. I miss you. I'm scared.’’ The words left her mouth awaiting for a reply.

Chapter 7: Old habits die hard - Part 2
September 11th, 36 TE. The next morning Raevyn is up early. She spends the remaining 4 hours of her long rest downstairs, keeping an eye on anyone leaving the inn. She orders some breakfast but everyone that has left so far doesn’t look like Marvin. She walks up to the receptionist. ‘’I am sorry to ask, I am on my internship with the League of Coin and I was told to wait here for someone called Marvin Fischer. I know you are not supposed to give me any information about clients, but could you just tell me if he has already left for the docks?’’ The woman looks at Raevyn but doesn’t budge. ‘’I am sorry, I am not supposed to disclose that information with you.’’ Raevyn looks annoyed and sits back at her table, waiting for the others to wake up. The others join Raevyn downstairs and Vieryn tells them they should have a look at the docks since Marvin is clearly not here at the moment. They all make their way to the nearest docks and Raevyn spots Marvin. He is screaming at one of the captains that are trying to ship off his cargo. Vieryn takes a couple of steps forward and engages conversation with Marvin. He tells him that he is from the League of Coins himself and that he was sent here to help Marvin with his tasks. Marvin doesn’t really want any help and ignores Vieryn. He then subtle-spell casts Suggestion on the man and suggests that he lets him help him. Give him some paperwork he can bring back to the League of Coins so that he doesn’t need to make the trip himself. Marvin seems to like this idea and gives Vieryn some of his paperwork. He greets the man and walks back to the girls. ‘’And now back to Scarlet.’’ he says as they make their way back to the Burning Grove. ‘’Back so soon?’’ Scarlet asks Vieryn when he walks into her office. He places the paperwork on the table. ‘’I want to use your favour, can you let one of your men forge a suicide note with this handwriting? It is from Marvin Fischer.’’ Scarlet picks up the paperwork and looks impressed. ‘’A suicide note eh? Very smart Vieryn. Of course, it will be done. Give it an hour.’’ She takes the paperwork and walks downstairs and Vieryn takes a seat in the tavern. The party sit around, have some drinks and wait for Scarlet to be done. In about two hours she comes back with the paperwork. ‘’One suicide note.’’ she hands it over to Vieryn. ‘’Thank you, alright-’’ Vieryn takes the last sip of his drink. ‘’Let’s go.’’ They make their way back to the same docks as before, it is now roughly pushing the late afternoon / early evening. They still find Marvin screaming at another guy. ‘’Just ask if he wants to have a drink with you and then we are good,’’ Raevyn says to Vieryn as he walks up to the man. ‘’Ah Marvin, I have delivered the paperwork. It has been a rough day, how about a drink?’’ Marvin is a bit hesitant since he has work in the early morning again, but says it couldn’t bother having one drink. They all go back to the Flirtatious Fairy. On the way there, Raevyn mentions a drink called the Devil’s Delight. It is supposed to make the drinker twice as drunk. If Marvin was only going to have one drink, Vieryn should order that. He takes note of this and orders two of the drinks when they enter the Flirtatious Fairy. Not long after Vieryn & Marvin look completely out of it. They are chatting, singing and drinking even more. The plan seemed to have worked, despite Vieryn being drunk himself. Arati slaps Vieryn across the face and tells him that it is time. He needs to focus now.  Marvin seems to be unable to walk anymore and Arati offers to help the man to his room. Raevyn notices what is about to happen. ‘’You two go ahead, I will get us two new rooms since we forgot to extend our stay.’’ Arati nods and helps Marvin on his feet. Together with Vieryn the two walk to Marvins room, which is all the way on the top floor. Raevyn pays for the rooms and heads straight towards the room she is now sharing with Arati. Upstairs everything seems to go according to plan. Marvin is way too drunk to do anything himself. Arati lays the man down on the sofa and he passes out immediately. But this way they were unable to feed him more alcohol. Vieryn tells Arati they could pierce something sharp though his ear to kill him. She takes out a crossbow bolt and jams it into his ear. But the bolt was a bit too thick to pierce through and Marvin woke up from the pain. ‘’Give me a pillow!’’ Arati said to Vieryn. He rushed over to take a pillow from the bed and Arati used it to put it on Marvin’s face. Together they held the man down until he stopped moving. ‘’Now we just have to make it look like a suicide.’’ Vieryn takes out a scissor from his thieves tools and cuts the wrists of the man open. He places the scissors on the floor and covers it with blood. They placed back the pillow and used Prestidigitation to get rid of the bloodstains on themselves. All that's left was to plant the suicide letter. They closed the room after them and then made their way back to their rooms. When Vieryn walked past Raevyn’s room, she decided to go after him. Vieryn stumbles in his room as Raevyn peaks around the corner. ‘’Is it done then?’’ she asks carefully. Vieryn ushers her to step inside the room and close the door. ‘’Yes, it’s been dealt with. You don’t need to worry about it anymore.’’ he tries to take off his shirt but tangles himself with it. Raevyn rolls her eyes and sighs. ‘’This never happened okay.’’ She walks over and helps Vieryn take off his shirt. ‘’I just wanted to say that if something like this comes up again, I don’t want to be a part of it. I am bad at this whole secretive thing,’’ she whispers. Vieryn smiles at her and falls on his bed. ‘’It is the reason I turned down the contract with Scarlet.’’ Raevyn frowns at what Vieryn just said. ‘’What do you mean?’’ ‘’Oh, to work underneath her you know.’’ Vieryn then closes his eyes and falls asleep immediately. Raevyn is left with some confused thoughts and goes back to her room. September 12th, 36 TE. After a good night’s rest, the party leaves the Flirtatious Fairy. Out on the streets they are received by the same man that had been trailing them. ‘’Longshaw is waiting for you.’’ he then walks off and vanishes. Apparently, he has been keeping an eye on them to make sure they were going to do the job. They make their way back to the Longshaw Estate. Alexander seems to be impressed with how they handled the whole situation. He gives them back their belongings, well most of it. He keeps around 400 gold and the diamond of Raevyn as payment. He then releases Alensta as well. She looks like she has had to deal with some horrible things last night. ‘’Are you alright Alensta?’’ Arati asks her. ‘’It’s nothing I can’t handle,’’ she said with a fake smile on her face. ‘’I am sure Belziros can help me with something,’’ she adds. They are let go by Alexander and are free to do what they were here for in the first place, going to Belziros to get this Ring checked out. Belziros is very happy to see his longtime friend Alensta again. He asks what brings them here. Raevyn wants him to secure the place first before they talk. Belziros walks up to the front door, mutters some words and a shimmer goes all over the room. ‘’It should be good right now.’’ Raevyn takes out the Ring and places it in front of Belziros. ‘’We got the Ring and we don’t know what it does. Could you possibly do something with it?’’ Belziros picks up the Ring and looks at it. ‘’Of course, I can, give me a second.’’ He takes out some gemstones and places them around the item. One by one the stones start to glow and his eyes change to a more golden colour. After a couple of minutes, he finishes his Identify. ‘’This Ring seems to be capable of protecting the wearer from any Divination magic that could locate you or get inside your mind. It’s also able to mark a person and make them easier to find.’’ Belziros places the Ring back on the counter. ‘’We should give it to Alensta then, so she can protect herself from Victor.’’ suggests Vieryn. Belziros raises an eyebrow at Alensta. ‘’Who is this Victor they are talking about?’’ Alensta looks super guilty. ‘’Oh just someone I did some jobs for.’’ ‘’He’s a demon’’ Arati interrupted them. ‘’More of a devil.’’ Raevyn added to it. Belziros got super angry with Alensta and told her she should know better than to mess with these things. He was going to help her protect herself but not with this Ring. That was way too dangerous. The party is then left with the question; what to do with the Ring? They all seem to be interested in it for different reasons. Vieryn wants to hide from Alexander. He now knows that Vieryn is still alive, but his father still thinks he is dead. With Alexander having that information now, he needed to cloak himself. Raevyn wanted it so she could track her father with it. If the Ring was indeed able to mark someone you know. Arati wanted the Ring because it was another connection to her goddess Shaar. She needed to bring it to her leader. No one really seemed to be keen on the idea that Arati was going to take it. ‘’These pieces are kept in different places for a reason. I don’t think it is such a good idea to bring them together when we don’t know what they do. I think we should keep it hidden somewhere until we know more information.’’ Raevyn suggested. Belziros mentions he can put it in his Arcane Vault, somewhere only he was able to get the Ring out of. They decide that is the best place to have it now. ‘’I have also found some more information with the tablet and the text you gave me. Apparently, this thing we are looking at is someone called Ilithar. He was the firstborn of all the gods, commander of the solars. He used to fight the Titans & Dragonlords on this plane. He got followers himself and changed his name into Orenmir. Started banishing creatures like demons and devils from this plane. They called him the Great Banisher. But one day he just disappeared without a trace. Most of his worshippers also disappeared but it is not known if the two are related to one another. Most of his followers were from sun-elven or orcish decent. There are some texts that prophesied the return of the Lightbringer, but that’s all I could find. It seems that whenever I read something from this scroll. It just disappears. Leaving an empty page.’’ Belziros holds up the tome and there were indeed some faded pages. ‘’I read about a ceremonial blade that was supposed to be buried with an orcish chief. There is no specific location but it must be somewhere in one of the groves.’’ Belziros added. ‘’I think that is what we need to do next then. Do some more research on where this specific orc tribe used to be back then and disclose the location of their whereabouts. Maybe we will find another piece or clue about Orenmir right there.’’ Raevyn suggested. ‘’The best place to look for that information would be in Nightdark, but seeing the current situation there, it might be better to wait with that for now.’’ Alensta mentioned. ‘’We could try and get you all access into the Peldewyn Academy Library. Archmage Peldewyn and I are rather good friends. I can see if I can pull some strings, but that would take me at least a couple of days.’’ Belziros scratches his chin as he is looking around the group. ‘’In the meantime, we could pay a visit to Nisher and get that quest of yours done, Arati?’’ Raevyn turns around towards Arati. ‘’Sounds like a good plan.’’ Vieryn added. ‘’Then we will meet each other in a couple of days then. If you need me, just contact me.’’ Belziros wants to unlock the door but Raevyn interrupts him. ‘’I am sorry but I do not have any magical means to message you. Would you happen to have a scroll I can use?’’ Belziros orders his automaton to search for a scroll and manages to find one. ‘’Here, only use it if it is an emergency.’’ he hands the scroll over to Raevyn. She is grateful and the party makes themselves ready to head out. Time to settle some business in Nisher.

Chapter 6: Getting familiar
Session 6 - 16/02/2020
In-game date: September 10th, 36 TE. Early in the morning they packed their stuff and made some sandwiches to bring on-the-go. Alensta told them that if they were going to leave for the Capital she wanted to visit someone that owed her a favour; Marlenna. She had a small magic shop, hidden somewhere in Nightdark. They were conversing on where to go as they heard a town crier walk by. ‘’Dollondor Emporium ransacked by a female grey-skinned tiefling. Two guards were killed while she escaped. Later she was overpowered and her items were taken into custody. She will be trialed this evening. If found guilty, execution at sunset.’’ The party looked at each other with a face of recognition. A grey-skinned tiefling, that must be Bloodbender. If her belongings were held into custody until the trial, that must mean that she currently didn’t have the Ring on her. This was their chance, the window they needed to get access to the ring. They hastily made their way to Marlenna, maybe finding some useful magic items to help them with whatever plan they would come up with. Upon entering the shop, it looked very old and dusty. It certainly looked like a place that no one would really visit. It had all different kinds of vials, books, and trinkets lying around. A very small Mousefolk creature greeted the party on arrival. ‘’Marlenna, I have come to collect that favour I was promised,’’ said Alensta, walking up to the counter. ‘’I am looking for an item that could potentially cover myself from any divination magic, do you have that in-store?’’ she asked Marlenna. The small lady took out one of the heavy tomes from behind the counter and looked in her register. ‘’I am sorry, I have sold the last of those necklaces to a woman named Nethila Motin, roughly a month ago.’’ She places the register back underneath the counter. Alensta tapped her finger, looking disappointed that she had no way of protecting herself from Viktor now. ‘’Okay, do you happen to have any means of teleportation to the Capital?’’ Marlenna squinted her eyes to Alensta as she asked this. ‘’I do,’’ Marlenna answered. After haggling back and forth with some of her items, they finally settled on a final agreement. As part of the favour for Alensta they’d get access to the teleportation circle to Avarra & a wand of Magic Missiles. Including that they got a mystery item, which turned out to be a Supreme Healing Potion. Alensta bought two Locate Object scrolls and the party buys her whole supply of Healing Potions. Because Alensta is a good friend of Marlenna, they get a 10% discount on the potions. Raevyn stacks up on some of the supplies she needs for her spell casting and makes the agreement that they will be back somewhere in the evening to use the teleportation circle. Outside the store, Alensta mentions she knows the guards' captain Corym. If she could talk to him he might let her in the storage room where they keep the ring of Bloodbender. This sounds like a solid plan and Vieryn joins her inside the guardhouse. Raevyn decides that she would keep a different perspective of what was going on by going into her familiar sight. She summoned Jinx and turned her into a rat, something that was less noticeable than a raven. Arati sat next to Raevyn to keep an eye out on her and the building Vieryn & Alensta were in. The rat went inside and waited for the others to engage in a conversation, so it could sneak into the hallway. Alensta talks to the man at the reception, a guard named Samuel. She requests an audience with the captain, but he tells her that he is currently in a meeting with a noble lady. She’d have to take a seat in the waiting room. She starts to show off her status, as she was hired by the Luthien family, but the guard doesn’t seem to be impressed by this. No special treatment. Vieryn & Alensta sit down and wait for the captain to be done. Meanwhile, Raevyn’s familiar is walking down the corridor, looking into all the cells if she could spot the face of Bloodbender. No Bloodbender on the first floor. The rat makes its way to the second floor, but something looks off. There is a jail cell wide open. When getting closer she notices that the man in the cell has his throat slit. With a little bit of further investigation, she notices that most of the people on this floor are turned to the undead. At the end of the corridor is another door. Peaking in she sees the noblewoman, unshackling Bloodbender. ‘’You have failed me. I thought you were smarter than this, daughter. You are lucky I was around the area. I will take you out of here.’’ She rubs the cheek of Bloodbender and puts her nail deep in her skin. A drop of blood appears. ‘’I-I am sorry mother, it won’t happen again.’’ Bloodbender looks down as her mother takes the blood from her face and draws a sigil on her cheek. ‘’Don’t worry, you are my favourite child.’’ She mutters some words and the body of Bloodbender slowly transforms into captain Corym. ‘’Now, just get changed into the captain’s clothes and we should be out of here in no time.’’ Raevyn follows the gaze of the lady to the ground and sees a corpse on the ground. It looks like it was drained, like a mummified corpse. After seeing this, she places her familiar in the corner and breaks the connection. ‘’We need to go warn them, now!’’ Arati and Raevyn take off towards the building. Trying not to raise too much suspicion, Raevyn walked over to the man at the counter and leaned in. ‘’You don’t know me, but you know her-’’ she pointed towards Alensta. ‘’Downstairs there is a woman that freed the grey-skinned tiefling and killed the captain. She is currently transformed as the captain and putting on his clothes. We need to act as normal as possible, but know that they are not who they seem to be.’’ Vieryn with his high passive perception caught on to this and told Alensta about what Raevyn was telling. Raevyn tells them they have roughly about 10 minutes to come up with a plan. ‘’They are coming for their belongings and won't leave without them. We can’t let them have those items! We can take those items away from here and hide it.’’ She persuaded the guard to get items that were requested by Raevyn. While the guard went upstairs to get the belongings, the others downstairs came up with a plan. They were portrayed as friends of a prisoner and here to bail him out. Raevyn dismissed her familiar and summoned it in front of her again. She told Jinx to follow the man up the stairs and keep an eye on him. A couple of minutes go by and the ‘captain’ with the lady walking past the party, up the stairs where Samuel went. Raevyn was portraying to be asleep on Vieryn’s shoulder while looking through the eyes of the rat. She saw that Samuel had the ring in his hand but got interrupted by the lady and the captain. ‘’What were you looking for?’’ They asked him. Raevyn kicked Vieryn and told him that they were currently in the room with Samuel and that they had to do something. Vieryn leaned Raevyn against the wall instead of his shoulder and took Arati with him upstairs. ‘’Have you found our friend’s stuff yet?’’ Vieryn shouted up the stairs, hoping to distract them. ‘’Stuff?’’ the captain asked. Samuel stuttered for a bit. ‘’Y-yes, they are here to bail their friend out, I am collecting his stuff.’’ The captain looked annoyed at Samuel. ‘’And you didn’t ask me for permission? Did they pay for it? Where is the paperwork?’’ He got a bit feisty with Samuel. ‘’I will show you sir, just follow me downstairs.’’ He closed the drawer he was looking through and walked out of the room, slowly followed by the lady and the captain. He closed the door after him. They all made their way back downstairs to get the paperwork sorted. Vieryn paid the 50 gold for the random guy they were going to bail out. ‘’Well, with that sorted out you are free to take your friend with you. I have other stuff to attend to.’’ The captain and the lady said farewell to the group and made their way upstairs again. Meanwhile, Raevyn was still ‘sleeping’ against the wall. She was using the rat to get inside the drawer that Samuel just closed. There were a couple of boxes but she managed to find the box that held the ring. She took the ring and placed it around the neck of the rat. Hearing the footsteps and mumbling getting closer to the door. She quickly got out of the familiar sight and dismissed it back to its pocket dimension. She stretched and yawned. ‘’Oh I must have fallen asleep, shall we go now? I am hungry!’’ She jumped up and made her way towards the exit. ‘’But did you-’’ Alensta tried to ask her something but Raevyn interrupted her fast. ‘’I am hungryyyy - let's go!’’ The party took off and started to ‘walk with a purpose’. Not running, cus that would look suspicious. Arati looked confused and asked if Raevyn managed to get the thing. She summoned the rat back in her hands. The ring was still around its neck. She took the ring off and showed it to them. ‘’Yes, we got it!’’ quickly putting the ring in one of her pockets. Then all of a sudden they heard a banshee-like scream and all the windows shattered from the building they just came. ‘’WHERE IS IT?!’’ They heard. Not long after that, the undead corpses started to wander out of the building. ‘’Uhm that’s our queue!’’ Vieryn said as the group began to run towards Marlenna. A lot earlier than planned, the party knocked on the doors of the magic shop. ‘’Marlenna we are here to use the teleportation circle, if they come ask questions, you know nothing!’’ Vieryn said as he ushered the group inside. Marlenna looked curious but didn’t ask anymore questions. She prepared the circle as they were waiting. ‘’Alright, there you go. Teleportation circle to Avarra. Good luck!’’ She said. The party thanked her and jumped straight through. They landed in a room, underground. It was sandy and you could see the tree vines going through the wall. They had no idea where they got teleported to. They soon noticed that this place was heavily trapped. Vieryn and Alensta grouped up to dismantle most of the traps. They all looked very intrigued. Whoever had made these traps must have had a shit-ton of money. Arati tried to steal some of the parts so she could rebuild the trap but was unsuccessful. After getting rid of the traps, Vieryn saw a ladder that went up. He went first and pushed the hatch above him up. He could see some sort of garden around him. The coast was clear and he ushered everyone to get out of the hole really fast. As soon as Alensta stepped out, she tapped her armour and transformed it into some fancy dress. Vieryn placed the hatch back, which looked like a normal grass mat. It was very well hidden. Looking around the place, it looked very familiar to Vieryn. This must be the estate of the Longshore family. One of his former business partners. They used to smuggle and work in slavery. Vieryn told them to stay really quiet and slowly make their way out of the garden. But then they heard the sudden clapping of hands, followed by a man’s voice. ‘’Guards!’’ pairs of footsteps started to walk in and the port closed up. In front of them stood a man, Alexander Longshore. Someone Vieryn was very familiar with.

Chapter 5: Broken Deals - part 1
Session 5 - 09/02/2020 In-game date: September 7th, 36 TE. The orange beams of the ever-dawn reached out above the mist. In Avarra the sun never shone brighter than the dawn light, nor did the sun ever appear on the horizon. The thick knee-high mist started rolling into the forest. It was the last couple of minutes of Raevyn’s watch and she noticed some shambling humanoids walking around in the mist. They were covered in moss and rot. They seemed to react to the loud sounds from the forest. Raevyn laid low and slowly woke up her party members. Whatever this forest was, it was way too dangerous to stay in. They slowly made their way into the thicker forest, on their way to the city of Nightdark. It was still a long journey ahead, roughly one and a half days left. Maybe even longer with these road conditions of the swamp. On the road they cross a couple of carts again, probably making their way to the Capital. To cross the river they had to cross a makeshift bridge that was basically just a wooden plank thrown over the creek. They decided not to put too much pressure on the wooden plank and all traveled separately over the plank. On their journey through the forest, they saw a lot of dangerous things, ogres, spiders, crocodiles and big shadowy legs wandering through the forest. They could avoid most of it, except for the big spider attack. With almost losing one of their horses to the spider, they decided it was better to move as fast as possible to create distance between them. But even with pushing the horses further than they should, they still couldn’t see the city. It was turning dark and the noises of the forest became louder. The horses were exhausted as was the party, but despite that Raevyn wanted to push for Nightdark. It was going to be better than spending another night in this horrible forest. Arati was against it and didn’t want to push her horse more than was needed. They came to the conclusion they could take a bit of a rest before heading to the forest. Arati took the first watch but was quickly disturbed after just 40 minutes. A small floating blue light came towards her and shocked her. She quickly woke up the others in which Raevyn got irritated and shot a Magic Missile towards the blue light. It vanished. Raevyn said they should just start moving, but Arati was certain they would be fine for now. Not even a minute after she said that, more of the glowing blue lights started to appear. They packed their stuff and traveled further. Whenever they looked behind them, there seemed to be more of those floating lights appearing. All exhausted, they finally saw the stone gates of Nightdark. The fire beacons lit the exterior. Upon entering the guards questioned their motives to come to Nightdark. It was very weird to see travelers this late coming from the forest. After a small conversation, they were welcomed into the city. Asking around they found a place to stay, an inn called the Peckish Pixie. It was a more luxurious place than they were used to a base price of 5 Gold per night. Raevyn thought that after camping in the soggy swamp and all the horrible terrors they met on the road, she was going to treat herself a little bit. She upgraded her room to the most expensive of 25 Gold pieces per night. It had a massive bed, an en-suite bathroom, a private butler and something called ‘the Black Book’. Arati and Vieryn just went with the standard room and were unaware of Raevyn upgrading. September 8th, 36 TE. After a good night’s rest Raevyn pampered herself with one of the cocktails from the Black Book, a magical cocktail that got rid of all her exhaustion points. Feeling like reborn she went back downstairs to meet the others. They quickly noticed that Raevyn had used the party funds for unnecessary things like the upgrade. Vieryn requested a meeting in his room. ‘’Come on, Little Bird.’’ he said in a diminishing tone to Raevyn. Right after he spoke those words Raevyn got a massive headache. She saw some pictures flashing before her eyes. She was in a regal looking manor and heard a man and woman arguing about something in another room. The feeling of anger started to crawl up but before it could manifest a hand was put on her head. As she looked up she saw an older gentleman in long dark blue robes. ‘’Hey, Little Bird’’ he kneeled down next to her and grabbed her hand. ‘’Should we go stargazing at the observatory?’’ He said in a soft voice and a smile across his face. Raevyn quickly snapped out of it and put her hand against her head. She was confused as she didn’t know what she just witnessed. Nothing she saw looked familiar. Was she having visions like Arati had? ‘’Here, take the party funds. I am going to get some fresh air.’’ she pushed the bag of party funds into Vieryn’s hands and wandered off. ‘’Well, that was easy,’’ Vieryn said while walking into his room. ‘’A bit too easy,’’ Arati added, looking a bit concerned. The two went into Vieryn’s room to distribute the party funds evenly so everyone could spend their part as they saw fit. After splitting the funds Vieryn and Arati made their way outside to reunite with Raevyn. Arati asked if she was okay and she just said that she had a migraine attack. Must have been from all the perfumes and bright colours in the Peckish Pixie. They handed Raevyn 700 Gold and went off to town. Looking for a woman called Alensta Dylith they stumbled upon a huge building named Dollondor. It was a library especially for scholars that came here to learn more about Sun Elven society. Only people that were invited by the Luthien family had access to this. The Luthien family was the ruling house of Nightdark. At the desk there was a goblin man wearing a suit, going by the name of Gregor. He told the party that Alensta was currently not in. Vieryn asked him if he could send a letter to the Peckish Pixie if he knew more about her whereabouts. Gregor agreed to that. Raevyn asked Gregor if he had seen a man come in with brown hair and a purple cloak. He looked a bit suspicious and asked why she wanted to know. She reached down and stealthy casted Minor Illusion on her leg as she lifted up her skirt. ‘’You see, he was drafting at full speed past us while we were resting on the road. He trampled me with his horse and just ran away. I’d like to speak to the man.’’ Gergor looks down at the wound and feels sorry for the girl. He says he will go in the back to see if he has any information on him. Not later he comes back and says he can’t really provide any information since he was in the Secret Section of the library. It is one of the rules that the privacy of whoever goes there is protected. All he could give them was that it was an elven male. Raevyn understands and says it at least narrows 50% of the populace knowing he is an elf. Asking if he could maybe just give his first or last name to help it narrow down a little bit more. Gregor feels guilty and decides to give them his first name; Aeldrin. This being a very common elven name didn’t really help either, but at least it was more than that they had. They thanked the goblin and made their way back into the Peckish Pixie. They decided to all stay in Raevyn’s room, enjoying the luxury. Even Though they didn’t say it out loud, Raevyn was sure Arati and Vieryn were secretly enjoying the luxury for once.

Chapter 5: Broken Deals - Part 2
September 9th, 36 TE. A message was delivered to the Peckish Pixie, addressed to Vieryn. It said that Alensta was currently working at an archeological dig site, not far north of Nightdark. The party grabbed all their stuff, paid their tab and got ready for another journey through the dangerous swamp. This time they were more prepared and bought some essentials like bedrolls and tents. Also looking for a shop to purchase some potions to help them out in the forest, but they found out that Nightdark didn’t really have a magic shop. There were some divine fanatics running around that destroyed everything that had to do with magic. They even attacked the Peckish Pixie once because it was run by a mage. They left at the early dawn. The forest was still scary but less scary than at night. After a couple of hours of travel, they found the dig site Alensta was working at. Vieryn led the party into a conversation with Alensta. Alensta was a beautiful elven lady with red hair and golden eyes. She was wearing high knee boots and a dark blue blouse, covered with small leather armour. She was also weaponed with two weapons. ‘’We are sent by Belziros’’ Vieryn started the conversation. Her face softened when she heard that name and told them they were good friends. Alensta invited the party to her tent. This is when Vieryn mentioned the Shattered Blade. She quickly drew her blades and put it on Vieryn’s throat, bending him over her desk. ‘’Did Soralon send you?!’’ She asked the party. Raevyn readied her hands to cast a spell and Arati placed her hand on her scimitar. They assured Alensta that they had no clue who Soralon was and that they were just here to talk about the artifacts they had found on the road. Still being defensive and refusing to let go of Vieryn, Alensta told them all to put their weapons on the table. As requested the party did that. She then let go of Vieryn. They told her that they found the shipment on the road between Nisher and Avarra, the cart got ambushed by people with purple eyes and cloaks. This is how they found the relics and brought it to Belziros that is currently investigating it all. The only thing that seemed to be missing from the shipment was the ring. Raevyn told Alensta that the ring was brought to a woman called Bloodbender by a man named Stelson. He must have intercepted the shipment. Vieryn asked her about who Soralon was and she told him that she owed him a favour. That he had helped her out before, but that she never saw him. She doesn’t know who Soralon is. At his point a voice was heard from outside the tent ‘’Soralon is not happy, Alensta.’’ The party looked at each other and grabbed their weapons from off the table. Alensta stepped outside. At the dig site, people were running away from the man and his guards that had just entered the area. ‘’Victor,’’ Alensta said. Apparently, Victor was the middle man of Soralon and came to collect what was promised. Alensta told him that she had sent the artifacts his way and that she had no idea where the shipment went. Raevyn looked hesitating towards Arati, awaiting to attack the man if they had to. Victor laughed at Alensta and told her that this was the last warning. She could either come the easy or the hard way. Alensta looked intimidated by the man and stepped forward. Vieryn looked at Alensta and noticed that she was not going to go freely with this man. He took this as a sign and cast Fairy Fire on Victor and his men. Victor his appearance changed to that of a fiend. Red skin, horns, and these evil glaring eyes. They all engaged in the fight, first taking care of the men that were with Victor. They had to protect Alensta no matter what. Arati jumped into the frontline while Vieryn kept to the back, aiding the party where needed. Raevyn took shelter behind a tree and cast Mirror Image. The battle continued and Alensta was in a very bad condition. Raevyn saw an opening and cast Disguise Self to make herself, and duplicates, look like Alensta. She quickly ran towards Alensta trying to confuse the enemies so Alensta could potentially make her way out of there. Victor got angry and wings started to unfold from his back, flying 60 feet up in the sky. He muttered some words and threw his spear in the ground underneath him. A big Fire Ball appeared on the spot, almost knocking out Arati, Vieryn, and Raevyn. Even though they wanted to protect Alensta, no one would benefit from it if they died there. With tactical retreats and the Healing Words of Vieryn, they managed to stay alive and wear down Victor. He then got very frustrated and told Alensta he would be back and disappeared from the battlefield. Burned, bruised and exhausted everyone gathered up again. ‘’How about some tea?’’ Alensta asked the party as she made her way back into the tent. There was an awkward silence for a bit. ‘’You probably have some questions, eh?’’ Alensta asked them after pouring each of them a cup of tea. Alensta told them she was originally from the Capital. She grew up there in the system as an orphan. Stealing things to survive on her own and started to work in the thieves guild to make some money. One day the Thieves Guild got attacked and almost everyone in there got killed. There were just a handful of survivors. She had no direction any more and this was when Victor showed up the first time. She said she wanted a place to stay, have a roof over her head again. He told her he could help her with that, for just a small favour. She ended up killing a scholar and stealing his book. Before she shipped this book off to Soralon she went through it a bit and noticed a picture of Reforged Shall Be The Blade That Was Broken. After that day she met a half-elven lady and her human husband. They became her pseudo parents. They taught her how to read and send her to school to have a bright future. But her pseudo-dad got really sick and passed away. It was hard for her mother to sustain the two of them so Alensta called out for Soralon once again. Asking for money so she could sustain her mother like she used to do back in the days. She did a couple of more favours for Soralon after that. One of them was killing a woman that was ranting about Ilithar, that was going to save her child and bring it back from the dead. Before she died she mentioned that the Lightbringer would punish her for this. For many years after that, she kept coming back to Soralon, asking for things in return for small favours. She never really understood the connection between the favours apart from the Broken Blade & the name of someone called Orenmir. One of her recent favours was finding the ring for Soralon. She had to send it to him with whatever artifacts she found. After this she was going to be free of Soralon, no more debts to be repaid. The ring was held in a sort of temple. In this temple, there were a lot of bodies held in stasis, like a burial crypt. However, these bodies seemed to be in a rather good condition. They stumbled upon a dead end. They needed a key and found this key in a separate room inside a crypt. The key was around the neck of a guardian that was in the sarcophagus. They took the key and nothing happened. They went back to the dead-end and saw a spot in the wall for the key to fit. When they put it in the fall showed a text in infernal, lit up and crumbled down. Behind this wall was a chamber with four statues that pointed their swords towards the middle of the room. In the middle of the room was the ring, hovering on an altar. Allensta originally didn’t want to take the ring, thinking it was a bad idea. But one of the men took it and the bodies around them started to flare up with purple lights in their eyes and started attacking them. Most of the men that were with her fell and she managed to take the ring and ran outside, barricading the entrance to the temple. While holding the Ring it kept talking to her saying that if it would fall in the wrong hands it could destroy the world. Knowing it was a bad idea, she was desperate to be free of Soralon. She shipped it off with her most trusted man, but the shipment never made it to him. The party tells her that they know the whereabouts of the Ring and Alensta is slowly having a panic attack. She needed to have this ring, otherwise, Soralon would come after her to kill her. It was hard to talk to a crazy woman but Vieryn managed to calm her down with a subtle slap to the face. Raevyn told her it was going to be dangerous to go after the Ring since it was now in the hands of a woman called Bloodbender. She suggested that Alensta would go back with them to the Capital and meet up with Belziros since he was currently working on deciphering the Tome & Tablet. If this blade needed to be reforged, then there were more pieces out there that had to be found. If they could get a heads start on the others by deciphering the Tome, they could potentially get a piece of this blade themselves. With a piece of this blade they stood a better chance against someone that already had a piece. Alensta agreed with this idea, but before they went to the Capital she wanted to visit someone that owed her favour. Someone that could potentially shield her temporarily from Soralon with magic. Arati speaks up cus she thought there were no magic stores in Nightdark because of the Divine Fanatics. Alensta scratches her head and tells her it is a more hidden store, somewhere in the back allies of Nightdark. They all gather their things and make their way back to Nightdark. On arrival it is already night time and they all spend the night in the room that Alensta is staying in. This room was given to her by the Luthien family since Alensta was working for them. It is at the Peckish Pixie. They decide to keep watches and make sure Alensta is protected that if Victor came back for her they were prepared.

Chapter 3: Unveiled Secrets
Session 3 - 26/01/2020 In-game date: September 4th, 36 TE. Once in Avarra they were surprised by the sight they saw. So many different races were walking around together. The guards had told them that Arcane & Divine live together in this City but that they don’t particularly like each other. It was better to stay away from the temple district if you were an arcane caster. They also warned the party about the Lower Commons being on lockdown due to some disease that has been spreading there. Better to stay away from that as well. The day was already coming to an end and they decided it was better to find another inn to stay and look for the Golden Grimoire tomorrow. They found themselves a lovely inn run by a family. It was roughly the same price as they paid before in the shady tavern, but this time around they had actual beds and food. It was a lovely stay. September 5th, 36 TE. The next day they made their way to the Thalonian District to look for the Golden Grimoire. It was a couple of hours walk but Raevyn had no problem with finding the place. They arrived at a big building with a golden book on the front. ‘The Golden Grimoire’ it said. Raevyn opened the door and entered the building. The store had a lot of things on display. In the corner of the store was a weird-looking thing. It was sorting out books and put it back on the shelves. A disembodied voice filled the room ‘’I will be with you shortly. Raevyn walked up to the thing and told it they were sent by Deidre from Nisher to come and visit here. The thing turned around, looked at her and went back to doing its business. A laugh came from behind the counter as a 7 foot tall Dragonborn walked in. ‘’That my dear is an automaton. It only has one purpose, helping me in the store. Now you said that Deirdre sent you? How is she?’’ The party looked up to the Dragonborn. None of them had ever encountered such a creature since they are super rare around these areas. You could say they were a bit starstruck. After some small talk, Vieryn gave the Dragonborn, also known as Belziros, the scroll he’d found at the massacre. Belziros told him it was a very old scroll, roughly six to seven hundred years old. It was in a really good state. He found it odd that the scroll had scorch marks though. He muttered an incantation and lit his hands on fire. Slowly the map started to reveal its secrets. It showed the map of Avarra and on that map, there were two symbols that looked like they were moving. A ring and a crown. Raevyn noticed that the ring that was on the map looked exactly the same as the one she was Bloodbender holding. The ring seemed to be in the Nightdark at the moment. Belziros also took a look at the tome Vieryn had. It was written in a language even he didn’t understand. It had influences of old Sylvan or Celestial, but not something he could read very easily. This book held some sort of ritual or ceremony, something that combined Arcane & Divine magic. Which was odd since those two had been at war for quite some time now. Raevyn said it could have been used as some sort of fail-safe, where you’d need both sources of magic to do the ritual. One could never do such a ritual alone. It could potentially be a very dangerous ritual. Belziros asked them if they had more things he needed to look at and Gofannon took out the stone tablet he had found. Belziros didn’t find anything interesting in the tablet but the depiction of angels and demons. At last, Raevyn handed him the small box she had found. The box itself wasn’t really magical at all but inside there was an unsealed letter and some small bags of gems and coins. Belziros took out the letter and read it to the party; ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Alenstà Dylith,
News travels fast my old friend, I wish to congratulate you on your recent archaeological discoveries. I must say the sunken stronghold or vault as some rumors say, has piqued my interest significantly.  So if you could do me the honor of some of those relics to be lost in paperwork, if you know what I mean.
Deliver the items in question to where cowards hide in fear of reprehension. For your cooperation, you shall be rewarded greatly. I pray that you make the right decision and I look forward to catching up like old times.
Yours Sincerely
Soralon -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     The party looked confused at one another and quickly realize what they got themselves into. Belziros says he knows Alensta, she is an archeologist and sometimes brings him relics. He knows that she is currently in Nightdark. She is currently working at a Sun Elven dig site. A long time ago the Sun Elves disappeared overnight and left their cities. No one seems to know how and why they all disappeared. Raevyn asks what a Sun Elf is and Belziros tells her that it is the opposite of what she is, a Moon Elf. Raevyn looks confused at him since she really didn’t know she was something of a Moon Elf. He tells her that she looks like a very close ascendant of one with her bluish hair, blue eyes, and pale skin. She says her father never talked about her mother and that it could potentially be. Belziros speaks of the Moon and Sun elves as the original elves and that all the other sorts are ascendants from them. Nowadays you rarely see a Sun or Moon elf. They come back to the topic of the artifacts that they just got appraised. Belziros wants to buy it from them for 10.000 gold pieces. Raevyn immediately wants to sell it but the rest of the party seems a bit hesitant. Eventually, Raevyn makes a deal with Belziros; He gets the tablet & the scroll so he can keep doing research on whatever this text is and they get to keep the map and go to different locations on the map. If they find any relics they will bring it back to him, and only him and he will share the information he would have learned by studying the text. He would also have to learn Raevyn and Vieryn how to activate the map with the spell he used. Belziros agreed to this and went to shake Raevyn’s hand. But before he could shake it she quickly said; another 1000 gold. They shake hands and Belziros laughs. ‘’I like you, you are a feisty one.’’ The party split up. Vieryn and Raevyn stay with Belziros to learn this spell, while Gofannon and Arati make their way to a bounty board in Avarra. Vieryn also tells them to maybe look for some lockpicks and to not ask any questions why he asks for that. They are sent to the League of Coin. They are looking for Beast contracts but Gofannon tells Arati that the League of Coin only works with people. They go after people that owe a debt to someone. Gofannon’s old Guild seemed to have worked with these guys before. Arati is new and needs to fill in some paperwork. There were two jobs. One was to retrieve a man called Athelstan. He had lent a ship but hasn’t paid it back yet. He has a debt of 8000 gold. If they are to retrieve him alive they’d get 2000, if they retrieve him dead it would be 1000. Athelstan was last seen in the city of Tirdad. The other job was about a tavern owner in Nisher. He was the owner of the Lying Weasel and hasn't paid his rent for a couple of weeks now. If we get him we would get 1000 gold and if we are able to get the property back and hand in the keys we would receive 2000. Arati and Gofannon knew exactly what job they were going to take since they already knew the story of the Lying Weasel in Nisher. After that, they are looking for some lockpicks, which are highly illegal to have. They eventually find a small store that sells them but for the price of 15 gold. Gofannon is not going to pay 15 gold for little small iron sticks and walks away. They make their way back to the Golden Grimoire. Meanwhile, Raevyn and Vieryn are trying to learn this spell from Belziros. Vieryn seems to be unable to learn it, he says his magic seems to come more naturally to him. He doesn’t really learn things from books. Raevyn gets a bit annoyed at him and calls him a cheat. It is unfair that he just gets to use magic without learning it. But in the end, she manages to master this Produce Flame cantrip. She is a bit of a brat with it and is shoving it in Vieryn’s face that he was unable to do so. At that point, Gof and Arati come back. They tell the rest they have a job in Nisher and Vieryn gets all excited. He can’t wait to kill the guy that tried to kill them while they were sleeping. They take a look at the map to see where they are heading and Arati notices the crown symbol down south. She points at it and says that it looks like the Crown of Shar, the one her leader is wearing. It is also at the exact place where she is from, somewhere in the Ravenmounts. Arati suddenly grabs her eye and says that the mark is hurting. Vieryn asks what mark, and Arati takes off her eyepatch. The eye underneath the patch is singed closed She says it was a mark that was given to her when she became one of The Chosen. It is a mark for those who pass the test and it gives them sight beyond normal. Sometimes it comes in visions or dreams. She mentions the end of the world again, as we call this era The Final Era. The party is a bit startled about this whole cult talk from Arati. They decide on a path to take; first, they’d go to the Arcane District to put down another wanted poster for Raevyn’s father, then they will go to Nisher to fulfill the contract from Arati & Gofannon. After that, we’d go pay a visit to Alensta in Nightdark and then come back to the Golden Grimoire with whatever findings we’d find. After saying goodbye to Belziros they search for another inn to stay in, something closer to the edge of the city and the Arcane District. They stumble upon this inn called the Burning Grove. Its sign is a tree that is on fire. They take place in the tavern and Vieryn asks what the others want to drink. He takes their orders and walks over to the bar. ‘’Long time no see Vieryn.’’ Apparently, these two seemed to know each other. The girl had a greyish skin, fiery hair, and horns. He made his order and said ‘’Oh and the beauty of fire is that it burns to the touch.’’ her eyes shift to him. ‘’I think I have something like that in the back, do you want to have a look?’’ She takes Vieryn into the back where he meets the owner of the Burning Grove, who is also the mother of the girl who calls herself Nemeia. Vieryn talks to the lady to acquire some lockpicks. He also asked if she knew any information about the people with purple eyes. She laughs and notices that Vieryn is speaking of the undead. She tells him that she has recently seen a lady in black armour and white hair coming to Avarra and every time she has been there, a new case of the Plague is there. Knowledge is key and she wants Vieryn to give some knowledge in return. He tells her about the Bloodbender they heard of and the woman seems intrigued. She hands the thieves tools over to Vieryn and he thanks her. ‘’Don’t you know how to please a woman Vieryn?’’ she hands over her hand and he kisses her hand. Making his way back to the party, who is still waiting on their drinks.

Chapter 2: Bloodbender
Session 2 - 19/01/2020 In-game date: September 3th, 36 TE. As they made their way through Nisher they noticed that there were a lot more guards than usual. This was because the Lady of Nisher seemed to be paranoid that someone was out to take over her position. It was commonly known that if the Nisher family asked you to do something, you better do what they tell you and don’t get in their way. They are known for their use of several different lethal poisons. The Lady of Nisher is also known as ‘’The Viper’’. The Town Hall seemed to be in the more fancier district of Nisher. When entering they see a couple of mercenaries collecting their bounties at the counter. Arati moved over and opened her bag to take out the head of a displacer beast. ‘’I found this thing terrorizing the wilderness where it is not supposed to be,’’ she said while slapping the head on the counter. Vieryn looked impressed at Arati. One of the mercenaries turned around and showed some interest in her. He asked her if she killed the thing on her own, or with the group she was with. She proudly said that she killed the beast all on her own. The mercenary was intrigued and wanted to invite Arati to his own hunting party. But he then noticed that Arati was a blood hunter and quickly withdrew his invitation. He said it was nothing personal but that there was a man out there going by the name of ‘The Butcher’ that was causing chaos around the area. He also seemed to be a blood hunter. As the mercenaries leave the Town Hall, they smack their shoulders into Arati’s but she doesn’t seem to bother. Raevyn looks confused by what just occurred and asks Arati why those men were being so mean towards her. She is just a Paladin or a fighter right? Arati laughs and says she is more of a magic user and not so much of the divine caster. Raevyn looked relieved that she is not traveling with a bunch of Divine people. Vieryn tells Arati that he doesn’t have a grudge towards Bloodhunters and that he’d like for her to stick around. After Arati collected her bounty, Raevyn moved over to the counter and asked the man if she could put up a bounty herself. It was a bounty for a missing person, but the man tells her it was going to cost at least 100 Gold pieces. Shocked by the amount of gold it was going to take, Raevyn walked off. Disappointed that she wasn’t able to put her own dad up for missing. She then comes with the idea to get supplies to make her own posters to spread across the land. They go out in Nisher to look for a jeweler so Raevyn can get her diamond. As they enter the store, there was this weird looking mannequin in the room. Vieryn kept an eye on the thing as it seemed abnormal. Raevyn tries to buy a diamond but the man is swindling her. Tells her to pay 60 gold for a 50 gold diamond. Raevyn gets a bit feisty and calls him a rip-off. This is when Vieryn steps in to talk to the man. He is trying to persuade the man but failed to do so. Arati had enough of this and paid the 60 gold for Raevyn’s diamond. A bit confused as to why she did this, Raevyn accepted the ‘gift’ and left the store. On their way out Vieryn wanted to poke the mannequin and Arati tells him to be careful because it might choke him. As soon as she said this, the mannequin grabbed Vieryn’s hand. A bit creeped out after that Arati & Vieryn also leave the store. Making their way through Nisher, Arati couldn’t help but be curious about why Raevyn needed a diamond-like that. Raevyn tried to make up some excuse but Vieryn saw right through that and called her out on her bullshit. Eventually, Raevyn gave in and told the party she was a mage. No one seemed to mind, as long as she didn’t use any Necromancy. Raevyn assured them she didn’t and recited all the spells she had in her spellbook as they were walking to look for a tavern to stay. After walking for a while they found this very cheap and shady-looking inn called ‘The Lying Weasel’. Raevyn is trying to do the same trick on the owner as the man in the jewelry did to her. Giving the man a tarot card reading. He doesn’t buy any of it and only gives her 5 silver discounts. He told the party that he came in possession of this tavern by killing the owner. In the tavern, there were several blood stains and drag marks all over the floor. It was for sure a shady place to be in. They got served some food, which tasted horrible. Not knowing what they were eating. They all used prestidigitation to flavour their food a bit more. While having dinner, Raevyn took out her paper and art supplies and started to work on her missing posters. Slowly one by one the party went up to their chamber, which was one room with four makeshift beds. Just a piece of wood with some cloth, like a military bed. Raevyn was left on her own accord, not noticing her disguise spell had worn off. A man approached the girl and sat down next to her. He asks her what she is doing and what a girl like her is doing here on her own. At that moment Arati comes walking down since she noticed that Vieryn had left Raevyn all by herself downstairs. She intervenes with the man and tells him to fuck off. The man doesn’t really appreciate this and seems to be what of a sore loser. Raevyn being so naive, never really understood what the man wanted from her. The two talk a bit before going up to their chamber. What they think was going to be an uneventful night, turned out to be the opposite. During their sleep, the party got shot through the window in their bedroom. Someone was out there on the roof parallel to their room. Vieryn spotted someone holding a crossbow. After multiple times getting shot by the man, the party decided to put one of the beds up the window so there was no vision in the room anymore. After that, they had some sort of rest. September 4th, 36 TE. The next morning the party had some breakfast, this time a stew that had the same tasteless taste to it. While having breakfast, Vieryn notices a man with the same purple cloak as they had encountered the day before on the road to Nisher. Raevyn looks around and mentions that the man she tried to help told of someone that had escaped the massacre and fled through the woods. Maybe it was this man? She decides to cast her familiar, a small raven wearing a self-made outfit called Jinx. Jinx follows the man as Raevyn is looking through her eyes. The man stops in an ally and meets up with a woman. She calls him by the name of Stelson and he refers to her as ‘Bloodbender’. He says that he did what she requested of him, but that this place seemed to be more guarded than her intel originally said. He hands her the package and she opens it up. She is holding a ring with a red purplish gem in it. ‘’Mother will be pleased, we have been searching for this for some time now,’’ she said with a grin across her face. She thanks Stelson for his service but then Stelson gets stabbed in the back by another figure. He plunges to his knees and asks why the sudden betrayal, as he had served them well. The Bloodbender kneels down to him and lifts his head up with her hand. ‘’You served well but you are getting old and sloppy.’’ She then slits his throat with the blade from his back and whispers in his ear. ‘’Don’t worry Stelson, even in death, you will serve our king - like you did in life. That is your reward.’’ She licks the blood from the dagger and starts an incantation. She raises Stelson from death and has the same purple eyes as the undead had before. She then disappears. After that, Raevyn broke the connection with Jinx. She tells the party what she just saw and they decide to stay far away from whatever that was. They take their belongings and make their way to the Town Square where Fredrick is waiting on them. The ride to Avarra was fairly uneventful. Arati saw some questionable refugees, Fredrick tells her to not interact with them. They are scams, they act like refugees but will steal everything you have on your cart. She then tells the party about the End of the World. That she has a leader that communicates to a God called Shar. He does this through a crown he wears. Vieryn looks at her as if she is crazy, but doesn’t pay too much attention to it. After a couple of hours, they hit the gates of Avarra city, the Capital. It is a huge city surrounded by multiple walls. Outside the walls are farmlands and guards wandering around. There is a small queue before we could get into the city. Fredrick drives up to the guards and shows his papers. ‘’Everything seems to be in order, welcome to the Capital.’’

Chapter 1: The Massacred Convoy
Session 1 - 12/1/2020 In-game date: September 3rd, 36 TE. Raevyn had made her way through the forest, looking for the main road to the city of Nisher. When all of a sudden, the smell of iron hit her. She made her way to the main road, only to find a horrible road massacre. There were bodies all over the place, two carts and four horses. She checked one of the bodies and they were still warm. It didn’t happen that long ago. This is when one man came crawling from under a horse. ‘’Please help me, Miss,’’ he said. Raevyn jumped backward and hid behind a rock. ‘’How can I help?’’ she asked the man. She helped him sit straight against the rock and took off her cloak. ‘’Keep this pressed against the wound to stop the bleeding.’’  The man told her that people with purple cloaks ambushed the carts with arrows and fire. He told her that there was an elder gentleman as well, but that he escaped into the forest. Raevyn nodded and asked the man to hang on while she was going to calm one of the horses to ride him to safety. The horse didn’t calm down and she could hear noises from the other side of the road. Another cart arrived to the scene. She tried to hide in the cart she was in since she didn’t know who these new arrivals were. ‘’We can’t make it to Nisher if the road is blocked, we need to clear the road.’’ said an older man. Three figures stepped out of the cart and made their way to the massacre. A dwarf, a halfling and a drow. The drow walked over and noticed that all the people in the purple cloaks didn’t seem to bleed. He kneeled down and turned one of the purple cloaks over. The body was half-decayed and purple lights shone in the eye sockets of the man. It reached out and scratched the drow. Then the rest of the purple cloaked corpses started to stand up. They made weird gurgling noises, like someone’s windpipe was crushed and tried to breathe. The trio started to fight these corpses while Raevyn was still in the cart, confused as to why they started to attack survivors since she didn’t see the decaying state they were in. She cast Mage Armour on herself and jumped out of the cart and waved her arms to the trio. ‘’Stop attack survivors!’’ which the red-headed halfling replied to with ‘’Lady, they are undead!’’ as she was slicing them up with her scimitar. The drow used some sort of Divine Magic to light up two of the corpses. The dwarf seemed to wield a battle-axe. They looked like a force sent out by the Divine Order, something Raevyn was very scared of. It was commonly known that the Arcane and Divine had been at war for quite some time now. Raevyn didn’t have that much time to react to them since one of the undead jumped from on top of the cart towards her. She quickly got surrounded by 4 of them. She had to be careful to use magic in plain sight, so she took advantage of the coverage the undead provided her and sleight-of-hand cast Misty Step. She was now hiding behind a bush off the road. The trio kept fighting off the undead and some of the corpses burst out into fire and light. Raevyn took this time to cast Disguise Self on her since she was pretty certain they weren’t close enough to actually see what she looked like. Her father always told her ‘’The art of being invisible is sometimes just blending in with the crowd.’’ She changed her elven ears to human ears, her dark blue hair to black and her skin a bit dirtier. She looked more like a civilian now. She took out her dagger and ran towards the trio to help them out. The halfling lady quickly pushed her aside and told Raevyn to just hide and let them handle this. After all, she was just a civilian. Raevyn hid behind a tree again, waiting for the trio to finish off the last undead. When the fight was over, Raevyn came out of hiding and thanked the trio for what they did. The dwarf made a comment about ‘the wee-lass’ is not that useful there. Raevyn apologized and told the three that she was just a farmer’s girl trying to make her way to Nisher safely. She wasn’t much of a fighter. She then remembered the man she tried to help and rushed over to him. He seemed to have died while they were fighting the undead. The drow gave them an order to check the rest of the corpses if there were any survivors left. Raevyn nodded and said she was able to do that. The dwarf and the halfling joined up to push the carts and horses off the road. Raevyn was checking the pulses of the corpses but also looting whatever coin they had on their body. She was pretty certain that no one had seen her do this. The older man she heard earlier came to the scene and started to pick up some of the weapons and armor of the bodies. ‘’That will sell good!’’ he said. Raevyn looked over at the man and asked who these people actually were. ‘’Oh I am Frederick’’ the man replied ‘’and these are Arati, Gofannon, and Vieryn. I met them yesterday as they were asking for passage to Nisher.’’ he pointed at the halfling lady, dwarven & drow men. The drow man known as Vieryn walked over to Raevyn and bowed forward to whisper in her ear. ‘’Maybe you should give some of that coin you collected to me?’’ he stared at her with an intense gaze. She felt a bit intimidated and gave him two silver coins. He seemed to be satisfied with it. He walked off towards the carts and started to inspect them. Raevyn went to the back cart and found a smaller box, something that looked like a jewelry box. If there were jewels in there it could sell for a bit of gold in Nisher. She decided to hide it in her bag. After inspecting the cart fully she didn’t find anything else. However, in the other cart, they found barrels and sacks that seemed to have a double floor in them. They inspected them all and in one of the barrels, they found a tube. There was an old scorched scroll in there, but there was nothing written on it. In one of the bags of grain, they found a stone tablet. It depicted angels, demons and people smithing a weapon. On the tablet, it said the words ‘’Renewed shall be the blade that was broken.’’ The trio hid these things, Raevyn being unaware they found it. After inspecting everything, they left for Nisher. During the ride to Nisher, the disguise of Raevyn is wearing off, so she is stealthily renewing the cast. Frederick was driving the cart, Gofannon seemed to be sleeping, Arati was on one of the horses that road next to the cart and Vieryn was sitting slightly in front of her. He seemed to notice some light source coming from behind him. ‘’Were you lighting a fire?’’ he asked, cautiously turning around. Raevyn lied that it was just the sun reflecting on her necklace, but the sun never really shines in Avarra. Vieryn asked her a couple of questions, curious about who she was and where she is going. She told him she is just a farmer's girl who is in search of her father. He never returned from his trip so she is now going to Nisher to get some supplies for the road. Vieryn squinted his eyes at her but didn’t ask anymore. Obviously, there was something with this girl. After two hours of driving they reach the city gate of Nisher. The guards ask each of them for their names and to state their business in the city of Nisher. Gofannon and Viery swindle the guards with a bit of coin, not giving them their full name or information. The guards seem to be a bit more cautious about the drow. Arati gets greeted by the guards, she seems to know these people already. Although the guards did look at her cautiously. Raevyn told them her full name, Raevyn Arcadia. It wasn’t the first time she was in Nisher after all. Nisher was a city of roughly 21.000 people. It has cobblestone roads and small high build houses. It looks very medieval. Around Nisher is a river that works as a natural defense. At the edge of the city, you can see a high building, the more fancy area. Assumingly the ruling house of Nisher lives there. Fredrick takes the cart and drops the trio & Raevyn off at the town square. ‘’Meet me here tomorrow morning at 10, we will be heading for Avarra City then. If you are not here, I will leave without you.’’ Fredrick makes his way into the city and the others are left to their own. They decide to look for an appraiser. They find someone that does jewelry but not someone that specifically does scrolls. Raevyn comes with the idea to go to her favorite book store. It is a small store called ‘’Deidre’s Dusty Tomes’’. It is run by an older lady called Deidre. They go inside the store and Deidre greets Raevyn. ‘’Oh, I have something for you, some research for the things you write.’’ Deidre hands over a copy of the romance novel ‘Tusk Love’ in a cover of ‘The various plants of Avarra’. Raevyn hides it away before anyone can see. Deidre than attends to the trio to inspect their scroll. She says it is empty and that it looks old, looking at the metal binder the scroll was on. She says we might want to take this to the ‘Golden Grimoire’ in Avarra city. It is in the southern part and you can recognize it by the golden dragon sign outside the store.  They leave her store and make plans for what is next. Arati says she wants to cash in her bounty at the Town Hall. Raevyn asked what the bounty was for, cautious about them being mage hunters. Arati tells her that it is for a monster she has slain. Raevyn sighs relieved and join Arati to the Town Hall. Maybe there is someone there that can help her with the search of her father.

Chapter 4: Expect the unexpected
Session 4 - 02/02/2020 In-game date: September 5th, 36 TE. Vieryn was led to a secret area below the tavern. There were shady people all around and a fighting pit, til the death. Even though they were shady, they looked more like an organized group than the ones they saw in Nisher. Vieryn is enjoying his stay downstairs while the ladies and Gofannon are upstairs. The tiefling lady comes over with some drinks and introduces herself as Nemiae. The others ask where Vieryn went off to. She told them he was attending some personal business. Raevyn laughs and says he is probably sulking that he couldn’t learn the magic to reveal the map like she did. Nemiae caught on to this and asked some more questions about the map. Raevyn didn’t really give that much information, other than it was an old map. When they were talking Gofannon saw one of his former buddies in the tavern. He walked over to him and started to talk. He later came back and told them he was going to head back with his own mercenary group. This whole situation they got themselves in wasn’t for him. He liked it more simple. They all said farewell and Gofannon took off with his friend. The two ladies were left on their own and started to talk. With Gofannon leaving like that, Raevyn wanted to know what prevented Arati from leaving and asked about her morals. Arati told Raevyn she was sent out to look for resources for her family in the Southern mountains. She said they were gathering food and materials to outlive the end of the world. Raevyn didn’t really understand why she wanted to be alive if the world ended. If everything was gone, what was there to live for? Arati laughed softly and told Raevyn that she was chosen to help rebuild the world after its fall. It was one of the reasons she was modified to be a blood hunter. To slay the beasts that would wander the earth once more and create a safe place for the people. It took Vieryn too long to come back and Raevyn got a bit impatient and especially curious where he was. She asked to go to the toilet and she was led to the back part of the tavern. She locked herself in one of the stalls and summoned her familiar Jinx. She went in bird-vision and flew down the stairs towards the cellar. It looked like a normal cellar, but she soon spotted a hidden step of stairs at the far end of the room. She flew down but got spotted by the man that was sitting at a desk. The last thing she saw was him throwing a dagger and saying ‘’interesting’’ as the connection with Jinx broke. Raevyn rushed back to Arati and told her about the thing she saw. A hidden place underneath the tavern. After an hour Vieryn comes back to the table. Raevyn immediately asks where he was. He told her he was just out and about and that she didn’t need to worry about it. Arati mentioned that Gofannon had left to make some more money in a less dangerous place. Vieryn couldn’t blame the man. He also goes where the money goes. Raevyn narrowed her eyes at him and asked if the money normally goes to damp places underneath a tavern. With a shocked expression, Vieryn looks over at Raevyn. He noticed the men behind Raevyn were listening in to their conversation. He wagged his finger at her and leaned in, telling her to stay quiet about that topic. After some more conversation, Raevyn walks up to Nemiae and gets them a three-person bedroom. While walking upstairs, Vieryn kept an eye out if no one was following them up. After they entered the room and he knew no one was listening in he told her that she had to keep quiet about that place. Raevyn being a hothead, started to argue with Vieryn for a bit. She didn’t really understand what the problem was with her finding out about this place. Vieryn tried to make clear that everyone that ever enters that room is noted down in a book. This book held all the names of potential criminals and shady mercenaries. If someone were to have this book, it could become a disaster. Like people getting hunted down for their crimes. Then a sudden soft knock was heard on the bedroom door. Vieryn placed his finger in front of his mouth and walked over. He opened the door and in front of the door stood another woman. Fiery hair, horns, and red eyes. She looked stunning though, very charming. Next to her stood a very large dog, an infernal beast. She tells Vieryn to close the door behind him as he steps out to talk to her. Raevyn got curious and placed her ear against the door to listen in. The woman tells Vieryn that she heard of a ‘magical breach’ downstairs. He explains to the woman what happened and that he has dealt with the problem itself. He knew better than to cross Scarlet. It was called the Burning Grove for a reason. She smiles at Vieryn and gives him the benefit of the doubt. But if she ever heard of a familiar flying around in the tavern again, she would not only take the person’s head but also Vieryns. He kissed her hand and assured it wouldn’t happen again. Scarlet wandered off and Vieryn came back inside. He once told Raevyn again to absolutely not use her familiar in this tavern again. Raevyn acted like she didn’t know what he was speaking of, implying to Vieryn that she had already ‘forgotten about the room that should not be mentioned’. Before getting a night's rest, Raevyn decided to change the location on her Missing Posters to ‘Golden Grimoire, Avarra’ instead of ‘Town Hall, Nisher’. If people in Avarra knew more information about her father, it would make more sense to send it somewhere in Avarra. Besides, Belziros could send her a magical message if something arrived. He didn’t know about this yet, but she was sure he wouldn’t mind. During the night, Arati had one of her visions again. She saw figures and buildings, it was Avarra city. She saw a dark armoured individual walking around with a sword. Her white hair was in such a contrast to her armour. She stopped at some beggars. ‘’You will be alright, here have some food,’’ she said with a calm voice. She cast a spell and food appeared in her hands. She gave it to the beggars and smiled as they ate the bread. ‘’That’s it, eat up. You will become strong.’’ As the beggars were eating the food, blood started to stream from their eyes and ears. Their veins turned as black as the armour of the lady. Arati then wakes up. She places her hand over her eye and frowns. ‘’This is different than usual, but I shall accept your wisdom.’’ she murmurs. September 6th, 36 TE. Breakfast was served in the tavern and Arati brought up her dream. Raevyn told her that the guards specifically said something about the lower commons, that it was currently under quarantine. Vieryn asks Arati to describe the woman again and tells her he heard of her from Scarlet, the woman that was at their door the night before. They decided it wasn’t a good idea to go to the Lower Commons since it was a dangerous area to go to. There was no point in putting themselves in unnecessary danger. Raevyn asks if they can hop by the Academy the guard told them about. If there was one place she had a higher success rate in finding her father, it would be the Arcane Academy. When they enter the Academy grounds, they get interrupted by an older man. He seemed to be a professor at the Academy and tells them it is forbidden to be on the Academy grounds if they are not students. Raevyn tells him that she is looking for her father and hands the professor one of her posters. She says his name is Magnus Arcadia and that he is a wizard. The professor seems to know the man, even seemed to have worked with him at the Academy a couple of years ago. But all of a sudden Magnus had to leave because his daughter fell ill. Raevyn was a bit confused since she couldn’t remember her dad ever telling her he worked at the Academy. The professor asks for her name and tells her he will put the poster up in the Academy. They say farewell and the group make their way towards the stables to get some horses for the ride to Nightdark. The first part of the journey to Nightdark was rather uneventful until they started to get further into the forest. Everyone knew that parts of the forest were corrupted and it was better to stay out of there. Do not wander off the path. They crossed paths with a group of goblins that were carrying a displaced beast. Must have been their recent kill. They weren’t hostile towards the group. Right after that, a horse ran past them at a rapid speed. Raevyn noticed the man that was riding the horse. It was a man. Brown eyes, brown hair and a very similar purple cloak to the ones they had seen in Nisher. Raevyn sent Jinx out and kept trailing the man from birds-view. She wasn’t able to catch up with him and after some time lost track of the man. The journey to Nightdark was at least another day and they decided it was best to make camp for the night. During Arati’s watch, she sees a small mushroom guy when she wasn't looking he had stolen her bag and ran off with it. She woke up the others as they all went after it. Soon to realize it only wanted the food that was in her bag. They gave their food to the little guy and went back to sleep. Later that night on the watch of Raevyn, Jinx noticed a beast sneaking up to the camping spot. Raevyn decided not to turn around but to surprise cast Misty Step next to the thing. ‘’Boo’’ she said while she stood next to the large creature. It scared off initially but soon came back for her. It was another displacer beast. It attacked the party and harmed them severely, nearly escaping with their lives. They managed to hurt the beast so much it decided to run away, for now.

Chapter 7: Old habits die hard - Part 1
Session 7 - 23/02/2020 In-game date: September 10th, 36 TE. Alexander Longshaw, someone Vieryn was rather familiar with. While Vieryn & Raevyn are still hidden in the bushes, Alensta and Arati get spotted. ‘’Lay down your weapons and no one will get hurt.’’ the voice of Alexander filled the courtyard. Together with Alexander were a couple of guards and a younger female. Alexander’s sister, Elizabeth Longshaw. Alensta laid down her weapons while Arati was rather adamant. Alexander’s men walked up to Alensta and grappled her. ‘’If you let go of my friend I will lay down my weapons,’’ Arati said to Alexander. Vieryn then stepped out of the bush while  Raevyn stayed hidden. ‘’Ah, Vieryn? That’s a long time no see. How have you been? I thought you died with the shipment you failed to deliver me. Are you bringing me new ‘gifts’?’’ he let his eyes glide over the two women that are now held captive. ‘’I didn’t die, I seem to have someone that watches over me, like a guardian angel.’’ Alexander smirks at Vieryn and raises his sword towards his throat. ‘’About that shipment, how are you going to pay me back then? With these gifts?’’ He swings his sword towards the ladies. ‘’No, not them. They are friends. We can discuss business in a more private environment.’’ Alexander lowers his sword and nods at Vieryn. ‘’Very well, I will keep your ‘friends’ captive in my dungeon until you come up with a way to repay me. If I do not like it, I will keep them and kill you.’’ He makes a hand movement and the guards take Alensta & Arati away while Vieryn and Alexander walk off to his office. Raevyn casts Invisibility on herself and trails after the guards that are taking Alensta & Arati away. Making sure she is at least 10 feet behind them. While following them she heard one of the guards whistle a tone and a door opened. It seemed like some sort of password. She waited for around 5 minutes and tried to remember the tune. After she whistled the tune, the door opened. A man was looking in but saw no one. He stepped out to see if he could find someone and bumped into Raevyn. Raevyn took this chance to uppercut him, but his helmet prevented her from giving him a fatal blow. Her Invisibility dropped and the guard grabbed her. ‘’Looks like we’ve got an intruder. Let's see what Alexander has to say about that.’’ He drags Raevyn down and throws her in one of the cells next to Arati and Alensta. All their belongings are taken. Arati & Raevyn try to converse some sort of plan but the guards interrupt them. ‘’If you don’t shut up, I will cut out your tongue.’’ The girls decide to stay quiet and wait for what is to come. Meanwhile, Vieryn and Alexander make their way to Alexander’s office. Alexander asks him what happened seven years ago when his shipment got lost. Vieryn explains that they got attacked by a group of men wearing purple cloaks. During the attack, the cargo went missing and Vieryn nearly escaped with his life. Back then he didn’ think too much of it, but he had the same sort of encounter last week. People in purple cloaks attacked another shipment, in search of something. Vieryn questions Alexander, what it was that he was transporting 7 years ago. It must have been really special since a bunch of necromancers were after it. Alexander doesn’t want to disclose any of that information and tells Vieryn to stay out of his business. Vieryn draws out the symbol he saw on the cloaks. ‘’These are the people that took your cargo, if you find that symbol, you can deal with them.’’ Alexander takes the paper and sits down. ‘’I really appreciate that Vieryn, but my cargo is lost. So, how are you going to make up for past mistakes?’’ Alexander leans back in his chair, raising his eyebrow at Vieryn. ‘’You could do a job for me? There is this guy at the League of Coins, Marvin Fischer. An older gentleman, normally wandering around the docks. If you can’t find him there, he will probably be at the Flirtatious Fairy.  He is a bit of a pain in the ass. I tried to bribe him but he just doesn’t budge. He keeps my shipment from leaving the Capital and I need him gone. I don’t care how you do it.’’ At that point, one of the guards walked into the office. ‘’I am sorry to disturb you but someone has been trying to infiltrate the estate. A young elven woman with dark blue hair. She is currently being held in the dungeons.’’ Vieryn grabs the bridge of his nose. ‘’She is also with me. She is a bit stupid.’’ he sighs. ‘’Ah, so you are working with stupid people now Vieryn?’’ Alexander laughed at him. ‘’I mean, she is more naive. She is very useful with her magic.’’ Alexander changes his posture and leans into Vieryn. ‘’An arcanist you say?’’ Vieryn knew that having an arcanist in this line of work was very lucrative. ‘’Yes, and if you let my friends go we will do this job for you.’’ Vieryn tries to negotiate with Alexander and come to an agreement. They have to give up all their stuff and will only get 10GP per person. If they finish the job, they would get all their stuff back. At least, most of it. ‘’Oh and I also want you to leave that red-head elven woman behind, you know, as insurance.’’ Alexander winks at Vieryn. He knew it was probably no good to sell Alensta out like that, but it was better than dying here. ‘’Then that’s a deal.’’ They shake hands and leave the office. The other party members are released and only get their weapons and some pocket money. Confused they all leave the estate without Alensta. Outside the estate, Vieryn tells them they need to go to the Burning Grove. Once there he would let them in onto the details of what just happened. While walking towards the Burning Grove he notices that someone is trailing them. While entering, he told the two ladies to sit at the table while he was going to get some things sorted. He walked over to the bar where Nemia was working. He told her about the deal he had made with Alexander and was wondering if he could speak to Scarlet. Nemia knew all too well who Alexander was since they used to be a thing. ‘’You’d think that after seven years he would be over it? But he still hates me.’’ Vieryn grinned at Nemia. Apparently, Nemia broke up with Alexander when Vieryn came around. Nemia tells him she will look if her mother is available and calls Go’rak the half-goliath / half-troll barkeeper to the front. Vieryn takes a seat at the table and talks in a softer voice. Making clear that the only reason why they were let out, is because he made a deal with Alexander. Raevyn frowns at him. ‘’Is that the reason why Alensta is not with us right now?’’ Vieryn nods. ‘’We need to get rid of a guy named Marvin Fischer. Apparently, he has been blocking shipments from Alexander and he needs him gone.’’ Vieryn whispered. Raevyn looks shocked and confused. ‘’Murder?!’’ she asks a bit louder than she should. A couple of people look at her and Vieryn ushers her to be quiet. Go’rak sighs and walks up to the people that looked up at the elven girl. ‘’I am sorry,’’ he says as he knocks them unconscious. Apparently, witnesses of any shady business going around here have to be knocked out and thrown in the fighting pits downstairs. Nemia comes back to the sight of Go’rak dragging people into the back. ‘’What happened here?’’ she asks him curiously. ‘’Elven lady screamed murder,’’ he replies and points at Raevyn. Nemia sighed and walked up to Vieryn and his friends. When she arrives at the table she leans forward to whisper in Raevyn’s ear. ‘’The next time you step out of line, I will make sure you will never step out of line again.’’ Raevyn gets a bit nervous and nods. ‘’Mother is ready to see you, Vieryn.’’ Nemia says in a normal tone and walks back to the bar. Vieryn stands up from the table, orders a bottle of wine and heads off into the office. Vieryn enters the office and talks about the agreement he has with Alexander. Alexander and Scarlet both seem to want this Marvin Fischer out of the equation, since he has been a pain in the ass of Scarlet as well. She doesn’t really want to work together with Alexander since they are rivals of each other. She’d rather overtake his business. Vieryn tells her that he could potentially help her with that. He has used the private teleportation circle of the Longshaws. Scarlet seems to be interested and asks how he got to this circle in the first place. He tells her about a mouse folk lady called Marlennea. Scarlet is very intriguing. Apparently Marlenna and Scarlet have some sort of history. He tells her that if she wants to find her, she should wait until the situation in Nightdark has died out a bit and then go there. Scarlet is very grateful for this information and tells Vieryn that she owes him a favour. After that, Vieryn heads out again and tells Nemia that he got a favour from Scarlet. Nemia is a bit in awe since Scarlet never gives out favours. ‘’You must have offered something very precious.’’ After a couple of drinks, Raevyn makes clear that she is really not okay with killing this man. He might have a wife, maybe some kids. ‘’My mother was also ‘taken out of the equation’ because she was an arcanist. I know what it is like to grow up without one, and I won’t stand for it.’’ Arati and Vieryn try to convince Raevyn that it is the only way to do it. Raevyn understands, but she just doesn’t want to be involved with it. Vieryn assures her that she doesn’t need to do anything, he’d take care of it all. They now just had to go find this man. After walking for a couple of hours, they find themselves at the Flirtatious Fairy, the inn he was supposed to stay in. Vieryn gets them three bedrooms while the other two sit downstairs and keep an eye around if they can spot anyone that looks like Marvin Fischer. He doesn’t seem to be around. They take off to their rooms and Raevyn asks for a meeting in Vieryn’s room. ‘’I came up with a plan,’’ Raevyn says as she closes the room. ‘’If he works for the League of Coin, he probably has one of the more expensive rooms here. I have had the same room back in Nisher at the Peckish Pixie. There is this thing called ‘the Black Book’. In this book, there are a lot of drugs and magical drinks. We could just get him drunk and give him an overdose.’’ Raevyn seems to have thought about this for the past hours, the best way to murder a man without it being too cruel. Vieryn seems to be impressed by the plan and thinks it is a good idea, just not tonight. If they were to overdose him, they needed a suicide note in his handwriting. They needed to acquire that. Raevyn says that she could potentially use Jinx to look in the reservation book to get his handwriting. Arati tells her it might not be a good idea since we do not have any of our equipment at the moment. If Jinx was to die, she could not be resummoned. That’s true, they had to be careful with the resources they have at the moment. They all decide to just go to bed and come up with a plan the next morning. During the night, Arati feels the sudden urge to get closer to the Ring, which is currently in Raevyn’s possession. If that Ring was connected to Shaar, she needed to get her hands on it. In the middle of the night, she decides to walk over to Raevyn’s room but doesn’t succeed in breaking in. The door is locked from the inside. Arati sighs and walks back to her room, very disappointed. Later that night, Raevyn wakes up from her Trance and decides to wander the halls of the Flirtatious Fairy with her familiar. Even though the others told her not to do it. While trying to get behind the counter, Jinx gets spotted by the receptionist as she stamps on it. Raevyn snaps Jinx out of there and gives Jinx a little lecture about being a bit more careful next time. Jinx doesn’t really seem pleased with this.
