They’d come to Aye’s house to study, but they hadn’t done much studying. In fact, they hadn’t done much of anything at all—except kiss. And as Akk’s hands had drifted beneath Aye’s shirt, he couldn’t help but think about the tattoo Aye had once taunted him with. He tried to shake the thought, but he couldn’t, so instead he rucked Aye’s shirt up to get a better look and he had been staring at the ink ever since, relishing the feel of Aye’s heated skin beneath his fingertips.

“You know, I hadn’t planned to get the sun,” Aye said, drawing Akk’s attention back to his face. He was sprawled out on the pillows, his lips red and swollen, but he didn’t seem annoyed that the kissing had stopped. He was staring at Akk the same way he always did—like he was a dream come true. “I only wanted the words. I wanted to be able to look at them and remember just how hard I’d fought not to end up like my uncle. But when the tattoo artist asked me what I wanted, I told her a sun. It just felt right.  I wasn’t sure why. Until I met you.”

Akk, whose name meant “sun.”

What Dreams May Come (Bly Manor fix it fix) has the highest bookmarks, kudos, and subscriptions.

Finding Family (Wanda America fic) has the highest hits and comment threads (and word count, but that's not an interaction thing).)

But where one of those two isn't the highest, it's the second highest, and I think if you included everything from the FF omnibus, it might overtake WDMC, but I'm unsure.

Honestly, I think the reason those two in particular did so well is because I started posting them very early on in a very active fandom (within 24-48 hours of release, roughly) and both addressed something the canon material left viewers wanting addressed (FF tackling the aftermath of DSMOM and what Wanda and America's reconciliation might look like (among many other things) and WDMC taking the expanse of years where Dani has Viola inside of her and saying, well, what if they got to know each other instead of Viola has to overtake Dani eventually). So it's more right place, right plot, right time than it is about whether they're good or not. (You can actually see this, too, with my Glass Onion fix it fic, which has done numbers - not to the same extent because I haven't been updating it nearly as frequently as the other two - because it was posted really early on in GO fandom and because it addressed a possibility people wanted - what if Andi lived?)

Comparatively, this is grind - which I think probably is one of my best pieces, despite how old it is. Even if it had dropped at the beginning of the JTV or Roisa fandoms, I still doubt it would have done well, simply because it's an Emilio point of view and it's just as much - if not more - about him than it is about them. Having just reread it, yes, there are some rough spots, and the ending feels...well, the last sentence could be retooled. Or deleted. But on the whole, it still holds up really, really well.

(Also, when you're talking hits/bookmarks/etc. sometimes you are more likely to get more engagement on long-running multi-chapter fics. FF and WDMC are both that, whereas grind is a one-shot. So they had pretty much everything going for them in terms of hitting that sweet spot.)

WDMC has such a hold on me, and I literally kept checking my notifs all weekend to see if you’d posted XD but I have a question! I may just be silly and my brain has omitted something, but I just kinda wanted to confirm.

So, if you lose your virginity (with anyone) you stop feeling your soulmate? Or it’s just kinda dampens down the connection? Because I was wondering if Thua can still feel Kan? And since Aye can still make Akk feel his Sex Ghost™️, I was just wondering how much control they have over the Fantasy Fuckers™️? And if you have sex with your soulmate, do the Fancy Feelings™️ disappear for good?

And yes, you’re right. If you have sex (with anyone), you stop feeling your soulmate. So Kan and Thua are in the same situation as Akk and Aye: Thua can feel Kan, but Kan can’t feel Thua. The connection is only severed for the one who had sex, so the other would still be able to feel the Sex Ghosts™️ (this is my new favorite euphemism by the way 😂).

As far as what happens when you have sex with your soulmate…you’ll just have to wait and see 😉
