“one normal christmas, that’s all i wanted.”
usually peter found his aunt, may, to be pretty chill. never ever scolding him even for silly mistakes. not even the time he tried to cook popcorn for movie night and almost burnt the house. but right now she looked fed up, almost worried.
it was only fair, she had been working her ass off at feast and it got pretty tough around the holiday season what with the freezing winter and snowfall.
plus he’d given her more than one reason to be mad. he was barely home– going on patrols anytime he wasn’t busy with homework. he often forgot to bring back groceries that may had asked him to and now he had messed up the postcards. she had reminded him four times to post them before the twenty third so that the cards reached everyone on time, but now it was the evening of twenty fourth and all the postcards were kept on the table, untouched since they had been left by her.
peter felt guilt eating at him as he apologised to her.
she sighed, looking at her nephew’s saddened expression, “it’s fine. i guess it’s fine if the cards are a few days late.” she gave him a kind look, returning to her usual self.
“are you sure because i can-” peter stumbled upon his words before getting cut off mid sentence from the sound of the doorbell ringing. the brunette stared at the door for a second before hopping up quickly, “i’ll get it.”
opening the door, he found you with a big grin and two bags in your hands, “merry christmas eve!” you grinned and instantly your arms were around peter. he noticed the snowfall outside and quickly invited you in.
“did you walk here in this cold weather?” your boyfriend asked, his eyes wide and you shrugged.
“cold never bothered me anyway.” you chuckled and went over to greet may and she smiled as you hugged her.
peter’s heart swelled when he noticed how you’d managed to completely change the whole mood of the room just by being in it. you handed one of the bags to may, “i got you a christmas sweater!”
his aunt smiled, taking the bag from your hands and digging in. she pulled out a grey sweater with a red banner in front that read ‘it’s the time to be jolly’ and the twelve reindeers dragging santa’s sleigh. may laughed, looking at the sweater, “thank you, sweetie. you didn’t have to do this.”
“except that i absolutely did!” you grinned and pulled out another sweater from the second bag, “and i got one for peter too.” this one was a green one with lots of candy canes and snowmen printed over it.
peter reached out to take the sweater from your hands and smiled at it, “thanks, i really love this.”
you looked at the postcards placed on the table and then the two of them, “i’m sorry if i interrupted you guys… what were you talking about-”
“nothing important! it was nothing important.” peter quickly interjected, punctuating his sentence with an awkward chuckle, “anyway… how about we go make some hot chocolate?”
“and watch some nice movies! may, you should totally join us.” you smiled at her, taking off your coat to reveal your own red christmas sweater, a huge christmas tree with glimmering lights upon it, making peter laugh.
thankfully, may agreed to your suggestion and the three of you sat on the couch, each with a cup of hot chocolate, spending the best christmas eve– as peter would claim later– and the postcards stayed forgotten for one more day.

Any Fan’s Dream, Part 3

Any Fan's Dream Masterlist
Synopsis:
When you look around and see Avengers Tower in front of you and Peter Parker beside you, you wonder how the hell you managed to get into the MCU.
"Why am I training with you guys again?" you asked.
"So you can kick ass." Natasha responded.
"Language! And no-" Steve corrected, "so you can defend yourself."
"Exactly. Kick ass."
"Let's just start, ok?"
No way! You got to train with the Avengers! It was gonna be so-
"-horrible. This is horrible. You guys are sadists."
You groaned, barely able to move your limbs. Everything hurt. You were convinced you were dying.
"In case I don't make it, I just want to say that you guys are both really hot and-"
Natasha laughed. “Thanks, babe, but you're not dying. C'mon, get up."
"I don't think I can."
"Yes, you can. Up you go." Steve hooked his arms underneath your armpits, dragging you to your feet.
You stood shakily, "I thought you guys liked me. This is abuse."
"Uh huh, well, the abuse is over." Natasha's comment made you sigh in relief. "You should go take a shower though, you're sweaty and you stink."
"And whose fault is that?" you sent a pointed look at the two Avengers.
"Yours, for not exercising more often." Natasha deadpanned.
You gasped, affronted. Then you winced because holy shit you were way too sore already. "Blaming the victim. That's not very Avenger-y of you."
"'Avenger-y'?" Steve questioned.
"C'mon, let's go get some clothes for you," Natasha said, "you really need that shower."
You huffed, "I heard you the first time."
Natasha led you to her bedroom and grabbed you some sweats, some undergarments, and a t-shirt that said "Stop undressing me with your eyes. Use your teeth."
"Really?" you questioned.
"What?" Natasha asked innocently. She dangled the shirt from her hand, waving it slightly. A mischievous twinkle in her eyes, when she looked at you. "Bet you won't wear it."
You bristled, really? You grabbed the shirt. "Watch me."
~~
"Well, at least the shirt is comfy." you said, having thrown on the clothes she had laid out for you.
You were still wincing as you moved. You could admit that the soreness was persistent. Also a pain in the ass(pun not intended but very much welcomed).
As soon as you were dressed, you left the room, carrying your bundled up clothes in your arms. You wandered, eventually managing to stumble upon the kitchen where you saw-
You dropped your clothes. It was Thor!! Now I've met both brothers! AWESOME!
But, wait a damn minute. I thought he went back to Asgard after AoU. Well I guess they technically don’t specify where he goes immediately after. They only show when he goes to Asgard during Ragnarok, but that’s set two years after Age of Ultron. Hmmm.
"Ah, Lady (y/n)! Are all things well with you?" Thor bellowed, grinning at you fondly.
I'm Lady (y/n)!
"I'm good, Thor." You tried to maintain some semblance of chill. "How about you?"
"I am well!" Thor smiled, he wrapped his hands around you tightly, excited at seeing you. "I am quite joyful! I was not anticipating seeing you on this venture."
His tight embrace made all the sore spots send a flare of pain. You didn't care though. Thor was hugging you! And he was awesome at hugs!
You remembered that he wasn't supposed to be here. "Why are you here?"
"I came here to inquire about some subjects, Vision was quite helpful in answering."
Ah, you thought, so he had to ask Vision some stuff about the Stones.
"How long are you staying?" you asked, the hug ending.
"I'm departing later this evening," Thor answered, making you frown. "Do not despair! We shall feast on pop-tarts together before I depart!"
You smiled, glad that someone else's excitement finally matched the level of excitement you were feeling. "Sounds great!"
The two of you spent the next hour gorging on pop-tarts. Your stomach hurt from laughter(and the torture from earlier) and the two of you were having the time of your lives. At one point, Wanda had wandered into the room. She joined the two of you on the couch, trying a pop-tart because she had never tasted one before.
The three of you started playing a game, Wanda would fly a pop-tart around the room and you and Thor would try to catch it. Tony interrupted halfway through the third round.
"Why did I just get smacked in the face with a flying pastry?"
Thor did not allow Tony's interruption to stop the game. Instead, he dove to catch the pop-tart before it could hit the ground. He caught it right before it touched the floor, but unfortunately, the pop-tart broke in his tight grip.
"Dammit. I guess you won this round, Thor." you grumbled.
Thor didn't respond, instead, he stared in despair at the broken pastry laying in pieces on his hand. "And yet, it does not feel as if I've won anything." Thor's voice full of melancholy.
You patted him on the back. "Don't be sad. We have more."
Thor nodded, then swallowed the broken pop-tart . "My apologies, but I cannot indulge myself in anymore. I must take my leave."
You frowned. "That's too bad."
You didn't know when the next time you'd see him was. What? Until the events of Infinity War happened and he was angry and depressed about everything happening. Were you really that powerless to stop those circumstances from happening?
Thor hugged you tightly, his embrace warm and comforting. You sank into the hug, wrapping your arms around him just as tightly. You didn't want anyone to see the sadness or worry on your face. You tried to make your mind go blank, not wanting to start crying right there in front of all of them. After all, to their knowledge, for once nothing was wrong.
"It is alright, Lady (y/n)." Thor tried to reassure you, noticing the way you were reluctant to let go. "Everything is alright."
But for how long?
You just squeezed him tighter before letting go. You forced a smile on your face, trying to appear happy. "I know," you managed, "can you promise to come back soon?"
You weren't sure if just asking was enough to make a difference, or even if he would be able to follow your request, but you would take any scrap of hope you could because you were not gonna allow everything to end up the same.
Thor smiled at you softly, the first time you've seen him expressing something other than excitement or joy. It was simple fondness and adoration, "I swear to you, I will return. And maybe then we shall commence another round of this ingenious game you created."
You nodded, relieved at his agreement. "Then I hope you have a good time. Make sure you stay safe."
"Of course," Thor affirmed, before wrapping you up in another hug.
Tony snorted. "He's not going off to war."
~~
After Thor's departure, you hung around the Tower for about another half-hour before you looked at your phone and realized that it was just about time for you to leave. Peter said he would wait for you at 6:30 in the lobby, and it was only three minutes until then. You didn't want Peter to get all worry-crazy again, so you said your good-byes to Wanda, Natasha, and Tony. You couldn't find Steve, but you hoped that you'd see him again soon.
"How was it?" Peter asked, brows furrowed in worry when he saw the limp in your gait.
"Pretty good," you responded, "unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to make the pear shooter."
"That's too bad," Peter distractedly responded, "are you okay? You look like you're in pain."
You couldn't help the way your heart squeezed at the genuine concern in his voice. "I'm alright. Steve and Natasha decided to start training me today, so I had to go through that pain. But by the time they're done with me, I'll probably have like a six-pack or something. Which is cool cuz like, muscular women are hot."
Peter tilted his head. "Are you sure you're fine? Avengers training must be really hard."
"I'm pretty sure I'll live," you managed, "for how long, that's the question.
"Also," Peter added, "when did you get that shirt?"
He averted his eyes when you looked down at the words on your t-shirt. You remembered what it said and smiled giddily when you thought of how Natasha Romanoff gave you a shirt! You! One of her shirts! You owned an Avenger's t-shirt!!
"I got it from Natasha," you proudly stated. "Do ya like it?"
Peter coughed. "It's very...nice."
"I know right!" You nodded. "It was so amazing of her to give it to me, don't you think? She is so amazing."
"Has your crush on Black Widow returned?" Peter questioned, noticing your palpable adoration of the woman.
"Who said it ever left?" you asked. "Besides, how could I not? She's so strong and smart and pretty and so, so, awesome."
You were a hopeless simp, but who could blame you? You had met the Avengers! The frickin Avengers!! And Natasha fucking Romanoff had lent you one of her shirts. She was a close friend of yours apparently, and you loved it.
You were completely right about Natasha, but you remembered that another one of your loves was right in front of you. "Peter, you're strong, smart, and pretty too, not to mention a complete dork which is awesome because I am too!"
Peter grinned, his cheeks flushing slightly. "Thanks, (n/n)."
You winked at him, cheeks warm from excitement. "No problem, honey bun."
The two of you began the journey back to his apartment, talking about random topics the entire time. You felt like your heart was going to burst from happiness, here you were with one of your heroes and the two of you were talking like old friends. You had never had many(any) friends so having Peter Parker be your friend was insane. Especially because of how good of a friend he seemed to be. Granted, you didn't have much to go off of, but he was kind, attentive, funny, and smart, and he seemed to genuinely care about what you had to say.
You couldn't imagine a better companion, so who cared that you didn't have much friend-experience?
"You know you're really awesome, right?"
Peter looked at you and smiled. "You are too, (n/n)."
~~
"Does she seem a bit...different to you?" Steve questioned.
Natasha hummed. "She definitely seems more excited when she comes here, but that's about it. Why?"
Steve's brows furrowed, "I don't know, it's just-"
"You two are just being paranoid," Tony strode into the room, "I, being the amazing person that I am, have decided to make her an Iron Man suit, with her help. That is why she's so excited. Also, that boy who's always with her probably has something to do with it."
Natasha snickered, while Steve frowned. "Isn't he like 15? (y/n) wouldn't break the law like that." Steve's forehead creased as he thought.
"3 years isn't much of a gap," Natasha said, "besides, if you go back a couple months that would be perfectly legal."
Steve's frown deepened and Natasha laughed. "What's wrong? Jealous that the little boy is getting more attention than you?"
Steve protested, "no, I-"
Tony laughed, "Capsicle is just mad that she got over him being a 100 year-old-man on drugs. Sorry," Tony patted Steve on the back, leaving the room. But not without calling out and laughing, "guess you've just gotta settle for being beat by that kid."
~~
You flicked on the light, and stepped into the apartment.
You closed the door behind you, then walked into the kitchen. You couldn't hear anyone else in the apartment, but you knew that "your" mom was going to be here by the time you got home from the internship. She had told you so before you left for the Tower.
You turned the light on in the kitchen/dining room, looked around. You spotted a note on the table, and you moved to grab it. You read it, humming as you did so.
I called and ordered your favorite dinner, went to go pick it up. Should be back by 7:15, your dad will be here around the same time. See you soon and don't burn down the house while we're gone. And if you do, make sure it looks like an accident so the insurance will pay for it.
You were in awe at how different "your" mom was from your mom back home.
All of the lights going out at once interrupted your thoughts, plunging the apartment into darkness.
A noise came from the dark living room. "Ah shit," you cursed. I gotta go. There ain't no way I'm ending up like those people in horror movies. All those stupid motherfu-
“Hello, darling."
"WHAT THE FUCK!"
As soon as you heard the voice calling out in the dark, you were ready to get the hell outta there. Unfortunately, you weren't used to this new apartment so you ran into a wall. As you laid on the floor and cursed, the lights turned back on. Hitting your head on the wall had dazed you, but you could've sworn you knew that voice.
When you saw the person approaching you, you both tensed up and relaxed. You're reaction was confusing but-
How were you supposed to react when Loki broke into your apartment?
"Apologies," he chuckled, "I did not expect my arrival to cause you to attack the wall."
You sat up from off the floor, leaning against the wall you had just run into. "Really? You didn't think that breaking into someone's apartment and turning the power off would surprise someone?"
"Actually, the power went out all on it's own," Loki corrected. "Besides, I have been sitting here for quite a while, you simply never bothered to look up and see if anyone was in your living room"
"Are you-" you stopped. This was Loki, you didn't have the time to argue with him. You would normally be happy to spend time with him, but if "your" mom came in and saw him, you worried she might murder him. "Why are you here? You can't be here."
Loki tilted his head, looking at you in curiosity and delight. "You are rather relaxed considering our last encounter."
"You mean when you kidnapped me?"
"Yes, that." Loki's gaze searched you. "Why is it that you are so calm after such an experience? You don't strike me as stupid. Well, at least not as much as most humans. But you're at ease in this situation. Why is that?"
You swallowed at how his eyes seemed to bore through you, "I'm just in shock right now. I'm sure I'll be plenty freaked out later."
Your feeble excuse only caused Loki to raise an eyebrow, his expression showing just how unconvinced he was. "As lovely as it was to see you again, I'm afraid I have to leave now. I will see you soon."
"See me soon?" you echoed.
He smirked, "you can count on it, darling."

Valhalla | Loki x reader
Tumblr media
Thor: Love and Thunder SPOILERS!!! This is also Loki from the original MCU timeline, who, you know died in Infinity War.
Summary: you died on battle after Gorr’s destruction. Once in Valhalla, you search for your dear love.
Pairing: Loki x reader (no gender specified,  please let me know if you find any discrepancy)
Tumblr media
"It's fine..."
"No, no, no!" He leaned down to you, your wound bleeding out so fast, he knew an asgardian wouldn’t bear a wound from the Necrosword.
"Thor, I am fine," a weak smile appeared on your dry lips. "Go with her."
"I shouldn't have dragged you here," he whispered. The tears forming on his blue eyes. “I’m so sorry-”
"No, I wanted to fight... along with you, I am fine... Don't forget that."
Tumblr media
Your eyes opened. You blinked once, two times. The light was too strong for you, never in your life you've seen this kind of blinding light.
The last thing you remembered was Thor holding you in his arms. Gorr hurted you bad, but the pain was now gone. You sat down on the soft grass, blocking the light with your hand until you were able to actually see around.
There was a huge golden palace far away, a walking path leading you. The sky was blue and bright, just like you've heard the afterlife would be for your warriors.
Was it real?
“Y/N from Asgard,” a voice called behind you.
The man walked, standing up in front of you. He gave his hand to help you get up.
“Heimdall?”
The guardian smiled.
“Welcome, warrior.”
You accepted his hand, rising from the ground.
“Welcome to Valhalla.”
A smile appeared on your lips, the tears running on your cheeks. You hugged your dear friend, letting him know how much you missed him.
“I have someone who would love to meet you.”
Tumblr media
Heimdall guided you through the path until you arrived to the palace. On the way, you encountered a couple of old friends and familiar faces from the Ragnarok and previous battles.
They all wore pretty robes and dresses, just like your clothes. The warriors seemed happy and finally in peace after a life full of worry. It was good knowing you will be able to share feasts with them.
Once you entered the palace, a crowd was able to be seen in the middle of the ball room.
“Is this what you do every day? Eat and drink mead?”
Heimdall chuckled. “Pretty much so, yes. We don’t get to do a lot of things here, you know. We just live peacefully, eat and talk about our biggest fights.”
The guardian started to look for someone within the warriors, you walked by his side.
“Of course you do...”
Making your way through the crowd of people, you finally saw him. The person Heimdall wanted to show you. He was all alone, resting his back against the pillar. His green eyes looked lost, looking all the people around having their feast, a half smile adorning his lips and his skin as pale as always has been. The green and black clothes he usually used to wear now gone and replaced for gold and white.
“Loki?”
His eyes went wide and the cup of mead fell off from his hand once he heard your voice. The prince raised himself from the pillar to see you. Heimdall gave you some space to be alone.
“My dear...” Loki got closer to you, his hand touched your cheek as if he was afraid of hurting you. Or afraid to think it was an illusion.
“You’re really here,” you cried, letting him touch your face. You grabbed his hands on yours, his skin felt cold. Just how you remembered.
His arms wrapped around you, squeezing you softly agains his body. Tears fell from your eyes. Finally you felt safe. After all these years, you missed his touch, his voice, his charm. Everything.
“Can we go outside?” you sobbed.
Loki took your hand and walked away with you from the crowd. You found a beautiful garden and a small fountain. He leaned until your foreheads touched, his hand caressing on your cheek like if you were meant to break in any second.
“I missed you so much...” a whisper fell from your lips. Your eyes opened and looked at his green gaze.
“Fate already reunited us. That’s all I care right now, I love you,” he mumbled against your lips before placing a soft kiss on them.
“I have so much to tell you,” you smiled. “I can’t believe I am here, in Valhalla with you.”
“Well we have now all the time in the universe, my love,” Loki kissed your lips one more time.
“You know, besides me Thor is very proud of you...”
“That moron,” he chuckled. “He better is.”

I AM OBSESSED WITH HUMAN SECRETARY X CIENNA!!!!
There’s a trope called the Man/Girl Friday, which is essentially just a character who is basically just a Secretary/Servant/Butler who’s extremely competent at everything. Think Pepper Potts from the MCU, Mercy Graves from the DCAU, or Donna from Suits lol.
Anyways, I’m just obsessed with the idea of a Human Secretary to a Monster CEO who’s completely unafraid and handles literally everything like a pro. It’s so funny to me.
Cienna: You know what we are, correct?
MC: Yes.
Cienna: We are creatures of the night. We feast on the blood of mortals like you.
MC: I am aware.
Cienna : Aren’t you-
MC: Here are your notes for the nine o’clock meeting.
Cienna: I -
MC: Also this is the spreadsheet for the Johnson acquisition you requested.
Cienna: Wha-
MC: Also I took the liberty of placing a lunch order for you. By my approximations it’s been over nine hours since you last ate.
Cienna: Just staring at MC
😂, I could definitely see that being the case with Cienna x Secretary!MC. In any case, Cienna would be impressed that she’s finally gotten a competent PA, who doesn’t flinch whenever she appears near them or drops her voice lower (because they’ve gotten on her nerves). The MC would be a breath of fresh air for that alone.
Now I don’t think any MC would (or probably should in some cases) ever interrupt Cienna while she’s talking— although that visual is completely hilarious to think of— mainly because of her overall composure and the general consensus that you don’t talk over her… ever. (She’d let it slide with the MC on this occurrence though.)
I can just imagine the MC trying to figure out various things about vampirism and getting absolutely nowhere with Cienna. Either because Cienna just doesn’t want to share or she doesn’t realize that’s what you’re aiming to learn. (I also could only imagine the potential chaos of visits from the family too.)

Slogged through V9E6, thoughts are under the cut
As always, I am worried that Jaune’s arrival means he’s going to start sucking focus away from the other characters again. Here’s hoping the writers remember he’s best used as a supporting character.
Jaune why did you grab the weird thing that looks like a clock what did you think was going to happen
Don't touch weird shit you idiot it's like rule #1
I hate the Ever After so much
So did he just sit there for years until he got DILFed? Lmao.
I'm sure this change will have long-lasting ramifications for both Jaune's characterization and the narrative as a whole.
Well, this was a wonderful, touching moment until it was immediately ruined by Weiss’s daddy kink
Like seriously who the fuck thought it was a good idea to have Jaune admit that he’d gone through a horribly traumatic experience and been incredibly lonely for what’s indicated to be literally decades based on his physical changes and then have Weiss immediately start thirsting for him like we literally see his eyes watering and then not seven seconds later Weiss is looking at him with do-me eyes
These writers genuinely have zero understanding of tone or how to set and maintain it effectively it’s amazing it's like they watched the MCU and the only lesson they took away from it was that every moment that might possibly have any kind of emotional impact needs to be undermined by a snappy quip as quickly as possible because otherwise someone might make the mistake of assuming your show is sincere about anything
Anyway girliepop’s showing her whole ass right now way to keep your fetish under wraps Weiss
Yang’s looking at her like “I know what you are”
Nice try Yang like I didn’t see you eyeing up Jaune too feast on the crumbs my fellow pan Yang truthers
Miles is genuinely never beating the “Jaune is a self-insert” allegations holy shit
Like if you want people to believe that the character you voice, who's received a disproportionate amount of narrative focus throughout the series already and has received repeated criticism for it, who's already been presented as attractive on at least one occasion, isn't a self-insert, maybe don't have one of the mains openly thirsting after him once you've written an excuse for him to be aged up so that he's both closer to your age and significantly older than she is after you've already posed for a picture with a body pillow of an underage girl from the show you write for and your coworker has posted that picture online with the caption "She's still only 16, don't get too comfortable". Like maybe consider the optics for 5 seconds. It'd be 5 seconds longer than you typically think through your writing choices, at any rate.
Wow, finally someone is engaging with the fall of Atlas, Team RWBY’s part in it, and the ramifications of both the previous things. Only took half the fucking Volume.
I actually like the pretty distinct perspectives and the conflict between Weiss and Blow. Weiss is the one who has the most reason to be attached with Atlas and Blow has the most reason to feel negatively about that Kingdom, so having them be the ones arguing here is a good choice.
Yeah, Weiss, you did fail, but it wasn’t just you. Most of the blame rests on the shoulders of Ironwood and these dumbass fucking writers.
That said, you guys didn’t exactly pass your trials with flying colors.
Good point, Ruby.
Yang is the first one to engage with Ruby’s distress again, even if she’s not exactly on the money here either in terms of her actual position on Ironwood or how to help Ruby.
I feel like this is one of the few moments of actual substance we've gotten this Volume and I really wish we'd spent more time digging into it. Unfortunately, He-Jaune, Master of the Universe, cuts it short. Not a fan of that choice unless we pick this up again at a later date.
He-Man’s a little bit of a jerk. Interesting. I kinda want to see where this goes.
He also doesn’t seem to like the Cat. He gets points for that.
He-Man, Master of the Jauniverse, does not want them going to the Tree. Given what apparently happened to the Herbalist, this implies something sinister about the Tree and Ascension.
You read my mind, Weiss.
Jaune has a very different perspective on Ascension than the Cat. On the one hand, the Cat is a denizen of the Ever After and probably knows more about how it works than Jaune does. On the other hand, Jaune is far more inherently trustworthy as a character we’ve known for 8+ Volumes, whereas the Cat is sinister as fuck. They've been creeping me out since their introduction.
Once again, Ascension is equated with death – you lose your memories, lose who you are. Whatever you used to be is gone.
Good pun, Yang.
Who the fuck is Lewis?
Oh, wonderful, Alyx had a brother. An irrelevant character had another irrelevant character to hang out with. Can we please stop expanding the cast?
Go off, Weiss (and Yang)
What the fuck did the Cat just do
I love you Weiss. There really is just no end to the Ever After’s bullshit, is there?
Where the hell are Blow and Yang?
You walked right into that one, Weiss.
Love how He-Man’s just done with everything. I am too, buddy, I am too.
Here it comes, the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Maybe we’ll get something decent out of this Volume after all.
YOU GUYS CAN LITERALLY DOUBLE JUMP WHY DOES EVERY SCENE IN THIS VOLUME THAT DOESN’T INVOLVE COMBAT INSIST ON FORGETTING THAT THE CHARACTERS HAVE MOBILITY TOOLS
I could cross that shit and I don’t even have superpowers
You have perfectly good ropes right there
Yes I get that it’s a metaphor for taking the next step in their relationship blah blah blah but the metaphor is shit
This Volume really likes presenting challenges as insurmountable when Team RWBY has regularly handled far more difficult ones it keeps breaking my willing suspension of disbelief
I'm normally pretty willing to buy into what a show is going for but I just can't do it for this Volume
Was that Summer in the reflection?
Looks like the reflections show everyone’s issues – Summer for Ruby, Penny for Jaune, Atlas for Weiss
Oh, so Alyx was a little shitter, huh? I’m sure there’s nothing negative about the choice to portray a (female) character of color this way, especially in a show known for being racist produced by a company known for being racist.
Okay yeah Jaune you probably fucked up here trying to railroad her into the book’s storyline. Somebody’s never played D&D before and it shows
Poor guy’s really hurting though, can’t blame him for feeling like a failure
I’d like the show to unpack all this but I don’t even trust it to handle Team RWBY’s issues (or even address them in a meaningful way) so we’ll see
I feel like we have to take everything Jaune says about the Cat and the Tree and the Ever After with a grain of salt, but the Cat is genuinely creepy as shit, so I feel like there’s some validity to this, at least.
So Jaune thinks the Cat fed Lewis to the Tree. Is he right? Who the fuck knows?
But it does set up some sinister implications about the Tree, the Cat, and the nature of the Ever After. If the Tree’s not an option, how does the gang get home?
I get the feeling that Jaune is at least partially wrong about how the Tree works, but what he's saying makes sense based on what he knows.
Yang you fucking dork
Anyway if Blow has a really good brain it’d be nice to see more examples of it beyond “she’s the bookworm”, I’m sure setting her own house on fire was a great demonstration of intelligence. I feel like this is another indication that I’m right when I say that RWBY would’ve really benefited from another Beacon Volume to really build the relationships between the core cast that the show tries to convince us exist.
Also, Yang is smart even if Blow makes her brain turn to mush. She seems to have figured out the trick here. She sounds so sweet and sincere when she mentions liking Blow’s ears, though I feel like this is another instance where the show isn’t taking Blow’s status as a minority seriously, what with the potential elements of fetishization here. Still, I’ll try to go with the writing’s intent here.
Honestly it probably wouldn’t even bother me if this Volume hadn’t insisted on continually comparing Blow to a cat
You did, in fact, nail it, Yang. Such a fucking dork I love her
Okay, Blow, maybe you do have a really good brain after all. Again, would’ve been nice to establish this a bit earlier, but oh well.
Yang you fucking dork lmao
Damn, Blake went hard here. Yang went with the surface-level stuff and was probably expecting the same in return and Blake just started pouring her heart out. I love the way Yang’s eyes and face just softened the moment Blake said she was an extraordinary person. Girlie was not expecting that at all.
“I like that you’ve never been intimidated by me” BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Yang she fucking flinches like a dog expecting to be beaten every time you raise your voice around her she’s the only one in your friend group who’s ever been intimidated by you even Jaune is fine around you and that boy’s afraid of his own shadow
Jk I lied the other abuse victim on your team also has negative reactions when you act aggressive
Anyway I guess we know why we got that line about Yang not being scary (even though she could be if she wants to) back in Episode 1.
Yang how are you missing with every line Blow gave up on Adam and the White Fang and that was a good thing because it let her escape his abuse hello?
Oh and she sure as hell gave up on Qrow and Ironwood when Qrow crawled into a bottle and Ironwood decided to raise Atlas, and she was literally the only person on her team who didn’t believe in Yang’s innocence when Cinder framed Yang during the Vytal Festival (guess who was ride or die for Yang in that moment? I'll give you a hint: her name starts with a W), and she ran away from her entire team when Weiss was racist for two episodes. Finding her was the whole fucking plot of the V1 finale. Like I’m not even arguing that she was wrong or unjustified for any of that but if you want her to be the one who never gives up on anyone then maybe fucking show her never giving up on anyone
Does Blake really know what matters to her, Yang? It sure as hell wasn’t Faunus rights during the Atlas Volumes.
That fucking lighting lmao
Just spit it out you idiots lets get this over with my expectations are dropping with every line
God Yang is such a fucking dork I genuinely love this for her it would’ve been so easy to make her the cocky flirty one all the time and they didn’t
For all my frustrations with this show I do genuinely like that.
I like how Yang hesitated a bit and didn’t quite commit but Blake went full-bore.
Oh my God it’s so sappy and cheesy and romantic
I can understand why people love it even if for me it crosses the line to narm like honestly this scene just feels ridiculous but that's just a personal taste thing, it feels too over-the-top for me but there's some charm to it as well
I feel a little bad for the Cat but honestly they strike me as manipulative more than anything
Every scene just gives me bad vibes
Damn, they were makin out, hands changed positions and everything
Nice little leg pop Blow
You and the fandom both, Jaune.
Kinda wonder when you figured it out though because you were not picking up on it in Volume 8 ("Ruby?" "Yeah... Ruby.")
Good to know the Bees thought confessing their feelings was more important than getting home or stopping Salem. I like both characters less every time they treat the Ever After as a vacation.
The little hand touch is cute though.
Okay, Ruby is not reacting well to the return of Crimson Rose, probably because it represents the burden of being a leader and a Huntress.
She's pushing her insecurities down again. That's gonna burst out sooner or later.
Jaune thinks Alyx traded Lewis to the Tree in order to leave. My guess is that either Jaune or Ruby tries to trade themselves to the Tree so the others can go home.
Damn, Ruby’s rejecting Crescent Rose pretty emphatically there.
Music is still forgettable I don’t think there’s been a single song that I’ve remembered a not of when it’s not actually playing for 6 whole episodes
Miles gave a solid performance here and so did whoever voices the Cat.
Okay, so, here it is: the scene we’ve all been waiting for since Volume 2 at the latest. The Bees are an item now, and it’s really obvious that it meant a lot to CRWBY. They put a lot of love into that scene, and it shows. Visually, it’s gorgeous, the voice actresses clearly put their hearts and souls into it, the music is meant to scream romance...
Unfortunately, I don’t like it. Perhaps this is just a nitpick on my end because I’m a stubborn ornery cantankerous bastard who hates being told what to do, but this confession doesn’t feel organic. It feels like they were forced into it by outside factors (the stupid fucking punderstorm that wouldn’t let them leave until they told each other their feelings. If I'd been in their place, I would've sat my stubborn Texan ass down and told that fucking weather condition that it could let me out right now or move along on its own time, but I'm staying right here until it does. Ain't no fuckin rain clouds gonna tell me what to do).
I don’t like that in and of itself, but it gets worse when you consider that both characters are A) queer and B) were only coded and not explicitly confirmed as queer within the show prior to this scene. It feels like two queer characters are being forced out of the closet, which would be bad enough on its own, but gets infinitely worse when the company behind the show named itself after a homophobic slur and then built a company culture around bullying and bigotry and the lead writer on the show has been openly biphobic and fetishized bi women in the past. Good job, morons, you managed to take a ship I’ve supported since the characters involved met in the Emerald Forest and make it feel gross to me. Between this and Blake’s jokes about Yang’s arm in Episode 2, I’m officially not a Bumbleby shipper anymore. You’ve fumbled the bag that badly. Please never hold a job in any creative industry again.
Overall rating: Horrendously Bad And Specifically Disappointing On Top Of That/10
Amazed that I can't definitively declare this a bottom three episode of the Volume because 3 of the 5 others I've watched so far were also this fucking bad. Truly an accomplishment.
Everything that wasn't Weiss's thirst for DILFs and the Bumbleby confession was okay (not amazing), but the writers fucked up so badly with the parts that sucked that they accomplished something incredible: they executed a scene I've been waiting for for ages so incompetently that I don't ship Bumbleby anymore.

Y/N : Hey, Mr Jungkook. Hi, Y/B/F/N.
Tom : Hi Kook, Miss Carter *nod*
Both of them greeted you back. They were sitting on the couch, talking, smiling and laughing.
Mr. Jungkook : Miss Carter was a little tired, so I thought a cup of coffee could help.
Tom : It indeed was a long day.
After finishing your drinks you all headed out and said your goodbyes. You and your best friend sat in your car and returned to your shared apartment.
In your apartment
Y/N : So, how was your day, my dear?!
Y/B/F/N: Couldn't be better!! How about yours?!
Y/N : Amazing!! Though I frequently had to remind myself that I can't fawn over my professor 😂😂😂
Y/B/F/N and you start laughing and talking about your days
********* TIME SKIP *********
'November ; time for the annual feast '
You and your best friend were getting ready for the annual feast. It was an amazing event ; dance, food, drinks and dresses.
Your dress 👇🏻
Tumblr media
You let your hairs down in waves and wore some plain black heels and a simple makeup ;neither too much nor too less. You were taking your car for going there but your bestie had to go to her mother after the feast, so she'd be taking a cab.
*At the feast *
Tom and Jungkook's jaw dropped after seeing you both and your by seeing Tom. Same was with your best friend except the fact that she was enchanted by Jungkook and you by Tom.
You were standing in the middle of the hall with a drink in your hand. A guy named David was constantly trying to make conversation with you. But oh lord, you could already sense the negative vibes from him. It was when Tom came to the rescue. God bless him!
Tom : Would you mind if I steal miss y/l/n for a minute, Mr. Richard?
David Richard : Of course not, professor. Take your time!
You followed Tom untill that David guy was no longer in veiw.
Tom : You look ravishing today, my dear!
You blush at the compliment
Y/N : You don't look any less either, Professor.
Tom extends his hand for you to take it. From the corner of your eyes you could see that your friend already found someone. You were really happy for her.
Tom : May I have this dance, my lady?

After seeing the latest "marvel girfset" you reblogged, i wanted to ask, have you been able to see "The Marvels"? Are you planning to if you haven't? or... what did you think about it if you didi? ^^ I personally loved it tbh, haven't enjoyed a marvel movie in a long time sadly, but this was REALLY good. 💖
OOOOH YEAH, BABEEEY! ✨
Oh, my god. I was counting the days for it!! That was what my year was all about, essentially. No other month mattered. I just wanted to survive until November, any extra life after that was a sweet bonus, I was that excited— I watched it on the opening day here, the 9th. I was there an hour and a half too early. Had to wait outside the movie theater. Then I was the first one to walk in, first to sit down. I was READY. Dramatically so.
And... I love it so much. I loved it so, so much! I'm weak just thinking about it.
The first film got me truly invested in Carol's character. More so than any other MCU character. (Yeah, even Nebula, gasp!). Everything about her character worked wonderfully for me, every tiny bit of her, a perfect glowing storm in my eyes. (It also helped that I admire and respect the hell out of Brie Larson, her stance on a lot of things and her many efforts to better the industry and world we live in. So that carried over to the character, enriched the story, and elevated the entire work.)
Every storyline in the first movie had me permanently hooked: her deep, defining relationship with Maria, her charming friendship with Fury, how she was a parent figure in Monica's life; the background to her strength, her bravery, her sacrifice; her abuse at the hands of the Kree and what that brainwashing did to her, what was stolen from her mind and the parts of her heart that could never be changed; the crushing weight of her responsibilities with such massive power. All of it! I was READY to see it develop further in her second movie.
And I was FED.
As soon as they started sharing the promo photos of the movie, early in the year, I already knew I wouldn't be the same after I watched it. Shit, even before then! In WandaVision, and the introduction of Adult Monica! The tension they hinted at, in Monica's relationship to Carol. The resentment, the hurt, the sadness; Even Kamala's part to play in Carol's inhuman responsibilities, adding to her struggles to be vulnerable, fallible, human. Oh, god, what a feast for her character!!
I won't go into excruciating detail into every little single thing that I loved about this movie (I'll save that for another time), but just know there is a lot.
My only unfulfilled wish (and it's insane that an MCU movie, in 2023, managed to fulfill, like, 90% of my wild fan desires....) was that... we could have had more time with them. Those extra 15 minutes missing from the 2 hour mark? I wanted them, selfishly. (No, not for action scenes, those were perfect as they were.) I wanted to see much more of the Trio's dynamic, how they grew closer and overcame their conflicts and struggles. Most importantly, I wanted that conversation between Monica and Carol — the one that was the true start to healing their broken relationship — to be longer. I wanted them to really dig into the difficult feelings buried deep. Monica's disappointment and hurt, and Carol's guilt and regret. Monica's expectations and Carol's responsibilities. And how much the two of them missed Maria. </3
For that reason, I'm desperately hoping for bonus features and deleted scenes in the future! Who knows? From the looks of it, it's okay to dream!
Anyway, that's it. For now.

Shawarma (Final Rose x MCU)
In which Averia is Peter Parker’s older sister.
Averia was tempted to go home. New York was safe. The aliens had been defeated. And all was right with the world. Well, not exactly. There were plenty of alien corpses everywhere because not everybody could go around firing disintegration beams at stuff and not everybody had melee weapons that could do the same.
Yep. Saviour was 100% bullshit.
She’d probably have to show up again tomorrow to help get rid of all the bodies. Otherwise, it would take the government forever to dispose of them. Admittedly, she was fairly certain that they’d be taking at least some of the corpses for examination and dissection, but they didn’t need all of them.
“You’re staying for shawarma, right?” Tony Stark asked. “Because, you know, you did help save the world.” He gestured vaguely at the rest of the so-called Avengers. “You’re part of the club now, and that means food, drinks, getting to know each other, all that kind of jazz.”
Averia pursed her lips. “I suppose I could stay.” She paused. “And I was going to get lunch when this whole thing started.”
“That’s the spirit!” Tony slapped her over the shoulder. “Let’s go get some shawarma!”
Gathered around a table with the others, Averia bit back a smile as she watched them interact. It was clear that they hadn’t known each other that long, but she could already see the bonds of camaraderie forming. Few things brought people closer together than world-ending threats and victory. She knew that from personal experience.
“A fine victory feast!” Thor boomed, enough food for several people in front of him, to say nothing of the booze. From what Saviour was telling her about his physiology, he could easily handle it. “To victory!”
“To victory!” the other repeated.
“You going to be eating with that armour on?” Tony asked.
Averia smirked, her helmet still in place. “Actually...” She raised her glass to her lips, Saviour fiddling with the tangibility of the glass, the soda, and her helmet. She took a long sip of the soda and then set it down on the table. “I can do that.”
“Oh, that’s some bullshit,” Tony said, staring. “But there’s no way you can do that with food.”
“I bet she can,” Clint said. “In fact, I’ll put ten bucks on it.”
“I’m with Clint,” Natasha added. “You weren’t around to see some of the stuff she pulled. Homing disintegration rays that can turn corners, go through people without hurting them, and then disintegrate the targets? Yeah. She can eat fries without taking off her helmet.”
“I’m more curious about how she’s doing it,” Bruce Banner said.
“Captain,” Averia said. “Would you like to throw your money into the pot?”
Steve Rogers chuckled. “I wouldn’t call myself a gambling man.”
“All right,” Tony said. “Let’s see you do it.”
And Averia proceeded to eat a handful of fries without ever removing her helmet. She reached for her shawarma as Clint crowed in triumph and Tony made a disgusted sound. “Although it seems a tad unfair to remain masked while all of you are unmasked...” Her helmet vanished, as did the rest of her armour, leaving her clad in jeans, a t-shirt, and a jacket. “Nice to meet you all.”
Tony blinked. “Wait... you’re a kid?”
“If you want to be exact, I’m fourteen.” Averia took a bite of her shawarma. “This isn’t half bad.” She waved at Clint who was staring at her like she’d grown a second head. “Can you pass the barbecue sauce?”
“Wait!” Tony got to his feet. “Hold up! You’re fourteen, and you’re not the least bit bothered by the fact that we just saved the world.”
Averia added some barbecue sauce to her shawarma and nodded to herself. Ah. Much better. “Well, it was either help or find somewhere to hide while everybody else got killed and the city either got invaded or blown up. Helping seemed like the better option.” She shrugged. “And I wasn’t in any real danger anyway.”
Thor’s eyes gleamed and he reached across the table to slap her over the shoulder. “I like this one! Tell me, from where do your arms and armour come? They have the look of masterworks!”
Averia grinned and held out her hand. “You’re probably thinking I call them up from somewhere, right? Nope.” A sword formed in her hand. “I make them.”
Bruce shook his head. “That... violates so many laws of physics its not funny.”
Thor rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “Tell me, what sort of experience do you have in hunting giant monsters?”
“More than you’d think.” Averia smiled back. “Do you know where I can find some.”
Thor beamed. “Oh, after the business with my brother is sorted, you must visit Asgard! I’ll take you hunting with my friends. It will be a great experience for -”
Tony seemed to have finally recovered from his shock. “Okay, look, you’re really okay with all this?”
“Yes.”
He stared into her eyes. He could appreciate his concern, and it was nice to see it. Thor was a warrior, but Tony’s moral standards were more modern. It would have been worrying if he hadn’t been worried.
“Just in case, I feel like I have to ask, but you’re not secretly part of some government program to create super soldiers or anything, are you?” Tony asked.
Both Natasha and Steve flinched. The tall man was still looking for the right words, but Averia decided to cut off any potential misunderstandings.
“I was born like this,” Averia said. “I’ve had this power all my life. And I’ve lived a very normal life. I go to school. I go out with my friends. I spend time with my family. If I occasionally save people from disaster or stop criminals, well, that’s just what I do. With the power I have, if I see someone who really needs the help, how can I just walk away?”
Steve nodded slowly. “Yeah. I can understand that. But, kid, this is a big deal. You should be worrying about school and your friends and family, not fighting aliens and saving the world.”
“It is what it is,” Averia said. “I was able to help, so I did. And a lot of people are alive right now because of it. I don't plan on doing this whole world-saving thing full time, but I can give you a way to contact me, just in case you need the help again.”
Tony chuckled. “Shit.”
Steve frowned. “Language. We’ve got a kid at the table.”
Tony threw his head back and laughed. “Steve, she killed more aliens than you. I think she’ll survive a little bit of cursing.” He turned to Averia. “Thanks for your help. If you have a way you want us to contact me, I’ll handle it. Also... if you get into any trouble or anything, just let me know.” He reached into his pocket and slid a device across the table to her. “That’s a way to contact me in an emergency. Use it if you need to.”
Averia nodded. “I will. Now, can we keep eating, or are we going to be worrying about my age for the whole night?”

Heimdal’s Question
Fandom: MCU Pairing/starring: Heimdal x fem!Asgardian!reader Content: Just pure fluff and domesticity. Lots of romance. A/N: I was feeling sappy so I did a thing. No, Asgard has never been destroyed.

Heimdal’s Question
...  Heimdal   ...
They weren’t just butterflies, the things flapping around in his stomach. Eagles. Dragons. Something big enough that it made him tremble and feel nauseated...although it wasn’t enough to chase away the giddiness he had to conceal.
Why so nervous? Heimdal had made a decision. Not just any decision, but one he’d have to follow up on today when the love of his life finally arrived home to him.
Pacing back and forth in his station, he looked to the faraway world where she was busy being a hero – a task he never would take from her although it filled him with worry each time she left to battle great evil. This time, just like all the other times before, the battle had been won and she, Loki, and Thor were preparing to come home.
From far across the realms, a voice calls out for him: “Heimdal!”
That is his cue. Inserting the sword in the mechanism, he twists, unleashing the Bifrost and watches it travel beyond the stars at his will. It’s magnificent as always, the light and colours that blaze through the darkness of the universe...but he only has eyes for one thing. One person.
...  Reader   ...
You love the rush of travelling via the Bifrost. The wind whipping about you, pulling at your clothes and making your eyes water, and the bright light that stretches ahead and above you, leading you home to where you left your heart.
You’re in love – have been for many years now – and your impatience is starting to wear on you although you should have known that this, just like anything else, would be a thought that would have to mature in Heimdal’s mind before he’d be ready to act on it.
Maybe you should ask him? It would not be in accordance with Asgardian tradition, but you’ve travelled around enough to know that there are other ways to instigate a marriage. You also do know, however, that the man you love is proper AND stubborn enough to refuse it any other ways than the “proper” way and so you sigh a puff of air that disappear into the torrent surrounding the Bifrost.
Hard ground meets your feet and you regain your balance quickly, looking immediately for the one that holds your heart.
Golden eyes. Broad, perfect smile that’s meant just for you even though Thor tries to lay claim to it right away:
“Heimdal,” the God of Thunder booms, “good to see you too.”
Loki rolls his eyes at his brother before nodding to the Gatekeeper and leaving, dragging the blond man with him.
It’s just the two of you now. You could ask him. You want to...but you refrain.
...
You’ve bathed and dressed for the feast but Heimdal (who for once has gotten a replacement for the station and therefore can attend with you) is leading you down the paths to the castle garden. Silvery trees with emerald leaves stand as pillars and domes a ceiling above you while fragrant flowers nod in greeting in the faint breeze. There’s a small pond with a stream that gurgles merrily, like a soft melody, and lanterns have been hung from branches. In other words: you don’t mind the detour.
“Beloved,” Heimdal stops your meandering, “there is something we must discuss before we continue.”
Anxiety grips your chest at the nervous expression on his face and as he takes your hand, you can feel his tremble, making you fear the worst. And this morning you’d been on the verge of proposing to him! Whatever comes next, you’re not sure you want to hear it but there’s nowhere for you to hide. Not from him. Mouth too dry to form words, you just nod.
And then he kneels. One of his big hands conjures a little box from a pocket and he has to let go of you to open it, revealing a ring as gorgeous as you could ever have imagined.
“Y/N...will you do me the honour of marrying me?”
For a second you can’t breathe, unable to fathom that he really has asked you but you somehow manage to push out the most important word in your life up until this point: “Yes!”
You repeat it, just to make sure. And then again as he slips the ring on your finger and again as Heimdal kisses you.
...  Heimdal   ...
He has barely let go of her, constantly seeking her touch one way or another during the feast, and the few times they’ve been pulled apart, Heimdal’s been watching her. Seeing her show off the ring. Witnessing how she beams as she is being congratulated with the engagement. It makes him feel warm and fuzzy inside.
“Heimdal, my man!” a heavy hand slaps down on his shoulder and he turns to see Thor smiling broadly at him.
Returning the smile, Heimdal lifts the goblet of wine he’d almost spilled. “Prince Thor.”
The prince in question waves dismissively at the title as he sits down next to him. “I hear congratulations are in order. Finally popped the question, hm?”
“Finally? But yes, yes I have.” He can feel pride swell in his chest although he’s not entirely certain why. “And I was wondering if I might ask you a favour...”
“Anything, you are my friend.”
Heimdal hesitates for a moment, but who else can he ask? “It would mean a lot to me if you would be my man of honour.”
It’s not impossible to astound the friendly god but he rarely sits quiet for long. This time the man says nothing but simply embraces Heimdal tightly.
Then he stands up, grabs a fresh drink and turns back to the watcher, teary eyed before finally saying: “It would be my honour!” Then he gets a serious frown on his brows. “What are my duties and when’s the wedding?”
...  Reader   ...
Heimdal has promised not to peek and you trust that he won’t but right now you could still use his calm to soothe your frazzled nerves as you prepare to stride into the throne room. You know Odin will be waiting with your groom by the throne, ready to make your marriage a reality. You know the place is packed with important people. At least you look amazing with the flower crown on your head and the dress made of layers of gossamer silk flowing from your body like a river of gold and white.
And then it happens: the grand doors open slowly and the chorus begins to sing, instigating the pace you’ve rehearsed at home when no one watched. It’s your cue to walk up the aisle and when you start...oh, you feel like running, wanting to get to your dazzling love as soon as possible, but you restrain yourself and instead step forward in a more moderate pace.
You’re halfway when you notice the tears in the golden eyes of his.
...  Heimdal   ...
If he hadn’t already known then this would have been the eye opener: Y/N is the most beautiful woman in the universe. In the multiverse. Breath knocked from his lungs, it’s all he can do to keep standing still, waiting for her to come to him. What he really wants to do is go to meet her, kneel before her once more and offer up his soul and heart...but an approximation of that will happen soon enough and while he waits, Heimdal just stares at the wonder before him.
Thor whistles ever so softly under his breath, nudging Heimdal slightly and earning a quick scowl from Odin...but none of that registers with the groom.
Heimdal just can’t believe that it’s really happening, that he gets to be so lucky. Somehow, the ancestors has found it in them to allow him to find someone that compliments him, someone he can look up to and strive to be better for. Someone that has decided to return his adoration.
He has to wipe his eyes to make the image stand clear again and next he can see, she’s almost by the throne and Heimdal has to step forward to take her hand (first wiping his discreetly in his cape because it feels clammy).
She smells like soap and flowers. Calm and collected, she smiles at him, making his knees weak as they stand facing each other.
“People of Asgard!” Odin begins, “we are gathered here today to witness the joining of two people, to hear their declarations of love for one another. However, before we begin...does anyone wish to object?”
Heimdal can feel Y/N tense, her breathing halt for fear that maybe someone does want to impede in their happiness.
But no one talks.
“Very well, then we shall proceed.”
Odin steps back, allowing Frigga to join the couple with a long, red ribbon, winding it loosely around the wrist and hands before stepping back once more.
“It is time to speak your vows,” Odin announces, gesturing to Y/N first.
The most delicate tongue darts out to wet her lips, then Y/N takes a deep breath and looks Heimdal in his eyes: “Heimdal. My soulmate. My love. There is much I want to say. I have a love for you so deep that no ocean can even fill the bottom. I felt lost until I met you...now a part of me will forever be gone from within whenever you’re not near.” She breathes out slowly, making the ribbon quiver. “But no words can truly express what you mean to me. All I can say is...the time we’ve spend together have been the best years of my life and I am keen to face whatever comes as long as I can do it beside you, with your hand in mine. Heimdal...thank you for being you and for letting me love you.”
...  Reader   ...
You can feel heat rise to your cheeks as people applaud and cheer, causing you an unexpected relief at the realization that what you said was good enough despite your worries. Excitedly, you look to Heimdal.
“Y/N. Today one of my dreams comes true: you are accepting me to be your husband. Like you, I am at a loss for words but let me try regardless because I want you to get at least an inkling of an idea of what you mean to me. I admire you for your courage and mind – you encompass what I strive at every day through your kindness and wisdom. You used the term soulmate...a term I feel is fitting for what I have experienced since meeting you. So I tell you this: I am not hopeful today...I am certain. Certain that I will be by your side for as long as you’ll have me, whatever may come. Thank you for letting me love you.”
His words echo in your mind, floating softly as your heart swells and you fall for him just a tad more even though you could have sworn that was impossible.
Then Odin coughs, silencing the applause that had risen when Heimdal finished his vows, and steps forward with Frigga. “We have heard their vows,” he proclaims, “yet I must ask you...Heimdal, Keeper of Bifrost and Protector of Asgard, do you give yourself to Y/N to be her husband?”
“Yes,” Heimdal’s deep voice admits with a smile.
Then Odin turns to you. “Y/N, Warrior and Protector of Asgard, do you give yourself to Heimdal to be his wife?”
“Yes.”
Holding her hands over yours, Frigga speaks the words of a long-forgotten age and golden magic radiates from the silk. It’s warm and pleasant, even as the bond tightens before it evaporates with the light.
“I now declare for all to hear that Y/N and Heimdal have been wed. You may kiss each other.”
The grand hall erupts in cheers but you are deaf to it all as you finally close the distance and kiss your love. Your husband. Your soulmate.

Now that the hype has long passed and now that I've studied far more Asian diaspora history I honestly think Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is not as great as many of us (including me) originally saw it to be. As happy as it made me in the moment when I first watched it, now that I've had quite a lot of time to think on it, it's really just a film that repackaged orientalist tropes through a consumable, semi-progressive lens. It was so deeply and heavily sanitized for the (white) public's eye that in the long run I don't know how much it helped, if at all. Here's a good article which examines this.
A brief sample of repackaged (harmful) stereotypes which this movie perpetuates:
All Asians are smart. Katy has an Honours degree from Berkeley, a prestigious school. Shaun/Shang-Chi speaks four languages. One of their friends explicitly makes a point about how they're both academically extremely accomplished. There is some mild pushback to this as they both work at a non-glamorous valet job but it's surface level at best.
The East is filled with exotic mysticism or criminal intrigue. The only non-immigrant Chinese characters we see in the film are either from a benevolent, magical, other-dimension Ta Lo, or come from a life of crime, be it underground illegal fight rings or an empire that spans a thousand years. It effectively others anyone with roots set deep in the homeland, calling them dangerous criminals or mystical unearthly wielders of magic. It was deeply unnecessary for Wong, one of the few Asians in the MCU, to show up as a secret underground criminal fighter.
All Asians know Kung Fu and are secret martial arts masters. Even Katy, who's never picked up a bow in her life, is apparently on par with Hawkeye after three hours of training.
And from marketing, one of the more harmful stereotypes that just kept coming:
The terms 'Chinese' and 'Asian' are always interchangeable. They are not. Yes, China is a single country within the continent of Asia. No, China is not all of Asia. I use the term "Asian" lightly when listing the stereotypes because that's how the stereotypes are told, over and over. Yes, Shang-Chi was the first Asian American superhero on the big screen. No, this movie is not representative "Asian American culture," which is very much something that cannot be condensed into a monolith. While this movie does encapsulate, in some parts, the "Asian American" experience, it only captures a fraction of the Chinese American perspective, and while some parts are relatable to other Asian Americans, it does not even touch on many other aspects of non-Chinese Asian American experiences at all.
There's more which the article linked above explains far more eloquently than I can. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is the Asian American's representational equivalent of days-old bread and lukewarm tap water for a starving man. When we had nothing but scraps, it was considered a feast.
But we deserve more than scraps.

I ship Namor/Shuri as a purely fanon ship and just because I love me some enemies2lovers energy. They had MAD chemistry! That Scene in Talokan? Wow! I have no hopes it will ever become canon and I don't want it to tho. He killed her mom y'all lmao. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Namor/Shuri becomes the MCU's take on Namor/Sue Storm but way less creepy. MCU Namor would tell blue eyes yellow hair to pack her small pox and go lmao this Namor has no patience for white people and good for him!
Ah dear Nonny, one thing I noticed through the years is that nothing I ship will ever be canon 🤣 And I’ve learned to accept that and live with it. A ship doesn’t have to be canon to be bring you feels. Hell a ship doesn’t even have to make sense 🤷🏻‍♀️ If you like it, then enjoy it, so long as people don’t get hurt of course.
With all that said, I think the Namor/Shuri ship is one of the few that legitimately reflect the enemies to lovers tropes. I mean….they are the definition of being enemies now, and reluctant allies. Which sets them up for the enemies to lovers trope. There’s a LOT going against the ship from being canon though. The biggest factors being Ramonda’s death and how Namor attacked Wakanda. Not to mention nearly killing Shuri with that spear. It’s gonna be hella hard to overcome all of that. Which is what makes the ship incredibly open to fix-its and AUs. Interestingly enough I think most of their shippers tackle those issues head on instead of trying to avoid it. I really feel like addressing those issues in fanfic/fanart/fandom lends so well to deeper stories and character development. It’s gonna be challenge to get over that which in turn forces writers to really work out a convincing path to that famous happy ending. In short, shipping Namor/Shuri is a true labor of love. And coming from a long time Strordo shipper, it’s gotta be hard defending your ship constantly. At least we were spared that for the most part.
I really hope we won’t see Namor chasing after blonde Sue Storm. That would be such a terrible look, especially with Namor’s origins and hatred for colonization. I’ve seen theories where people speculate that Shuri will be the Sue Storm figure in 616, and that Namor will be fixated on her instead. This makes a lot more sense to me tbh. They already have massive history and their fates are tied together due to their alliance, and sadly also due to the pain they inflicted on each other. I think the big tragedy for Namor/Shuri is that their romance was doomed before it got a chance to really bloom. It’s a ship that will never be canon, but it’s a ship that absolutely thrives in fanon. For me Namor/Shuri is phenomenal for AUs, What Ifs, and multiverse craziness. And with nearly 200 fics to the ship in less than a month that’s super telling of their potential.
To be honest I’m jealous 🤣 But I’m also very happy to see all the new fanworks coming out. Congratulations Nashuri? Namori? shippers! Enjoy the feast before you.

Thoughts on black panther 2 under the cut
The movie is an open wound for better and worse. It's a beautiful, raw lament on grief that hits like a brick and operates with deft grace when it comes to that fickle diegesis of what happened IRL vs what the characters struggle with in context of the story. The bookends, especially, work very-very hard to shed the trappings of genre and get to the very heart of grief, of finding a way through it and into a form of catharsis both bitter and liberating. Coogler's direction and choices are incredible in these moments; he's reaching impossibly deep into parts of us that are vulnerable and tender, ready to trigger and unbalance at a moment's notice, frightened at being touched; yet he cradles them gently, guiding us through his pain with grace and comfort, never letting us down with even a single false note or misstep. In these moments, the promise of cinema feels fulfilled.
It becomes clear that Coogler is a master at reinterpreting his own humanity into a filmic experience without losing a single thing in the transition. The type of storyteller entire nations should cherish.
In-between those bookends though, we have the story proper. We see the depths of unprocessed trauma driving people and nations apart. The narrative ping-pongs between some plots that share in this ethos and others that do not, ending up in a wonky edit that still works in the moment despite itself. The story, however, in its attempts to weave grief into a meaningful plot catalyst, ends up in such murky waters that my face heats up remembering it. It's something of a peeve of mine at this point, and I really hoped not to see it here.
But first, some of the good: it undoubtedly tells a story that gets very dark very fast, and editorial rewrites are welcome additions; riri williams and the hydra lady are clear additions to balance out the tone of the primary conflict with some MCU charm, a move that seems regrettable on paper but ends up something of a saving grace for the fucking runtime (there is a version of this story you can competently tell in less than 2:40 hrs, I'd stake my life on it). And they mostly work! Riri is a delight, Okoye gets an incredible range of emotions to play with, M'Baku rules as expected, and the US stuff is negligible. And as difficult as it was to watch miss Anti-Vaxx Supreme wear the black panther suit and talk about science, her acting chops were annoyingly above reproach. And truth told the dramatic weight of the filmmaking overpowered my real-world biases more times than I expected, so that's something I guess.
The presentation is similarly stunning. The DP finds incredibly visceral ways into intimate moments that are impossible to look away from. The music soars, quietly elevating but never taking control of the rhythm, something that's often a death knell for drama but not in Coogler's capable hands. They introduce new sounds and instruments to the palette, creating a trance of leitmotifs that inspire awe and reverence. The set design, the props, the costumes. My god the costumes are a feast to drink in and appreciate. I would selfishly hope for the camera to linger on them just a few seconds more. The audio-visual artistry is firing on all cylinders.
Which is why what irked me the most falls squarely outside of them and smack-dab on the story department.
Namor and Talocan are, once again, triumphs of character and set design, but his story is yet another in a long line of ugly decisions by the MCU to portray anti-colonialist sentiment as almost inherently genocidal. They're just all murderous autocrats, these pesky indigenous folk whose feelings got hurt that one time. And I know this isn't like, super evident in the noise of the film's plotting, but looking back in hindsight it does drive me up the wall. Knowing that they pulled that shit again.
Let me defend myself a bit here. I get the writing instincts, I'm not stupid. It's a baseline flaw in Namor that needs to be foiled and tempered by Shuri so his own unprocessed grief can end the death march he has set his nation on. It's a starting point, of course it is, I'm not about to launch into the semiotics of behavior modeling in media, down that road lies madness. But like, I'm sorry; the optics of heightening the stakes due to his childhood trauma are still weird as hell when seen in all of their loaded context, in the entire breadth of their start and end points. There are ways of ferreting a gentler conflict of character out of that predicament. Why flip him into evil tyrant mode again? Why do that. Who benefits from doing that. Whose feelings are being carefully protected when doing that. The moment they arrived at his ultimatum I visibly winced in my seat. Again. They did this again.
Why go for this centrist parable when you've done it once already? And pulled off a minor miracle in not making it overtly gross? Why tempt fate twice? I'm not gonna spell it out, but it is evident that the true nuance of these narratives remains a real tough sell for the mouse house.
It sucks even worse here because there really are those ample grounds for personal, character-centric conflict to drive the plot, but instead we see hints of it until suddenly we get killmonger 2.0 with even less thematic clarity and direct engagement with the protagonist's flaws. Another progressive ruler *incidentally* obsessed with mass murder, going against a girl refusing to process her grief and meeting his violence halfway. And sure, yeah, their individual traumas are expositioned multiple times, they exchange philosophies, arrive at the root of their conflict, yada-yada... and then they punch about it. Nothing is learned, nothing is gained, one of them eventually strong-arms the other long enough for them to have unmotivated flashbacks, and then some both-sides bullshit argument gets made and everyone kisses and makes up.
Licking the boot of the status quo while wearing the aesthetics of African brilliance and Mesoamerican perseverance. I don't know, man. Maybe I'm out of line but it genuinely sucks. And I understand what the greater, out-of-text meanings of seeing this alliance be forged on screen can be, I don't deny that incredibly valid read. It's just how we get there, and with what. The optics. It's the progressive tyrant, again. Can we fucking not anymore.
We all know what you are saying with this.
(a tiny side complaint irt to this whole issue is an unfortunate failure to show-not-tell Talocan's allegedly unbeatable military might - their water superiority is not in doubt, but betrays unremarkable adaptability to their opponents. killmonger articulated specific plans to smuggle undetectable vibranium tech to saboteur cells around the world before inciting his hostile takeover. No such plan is clearly stated by Namor, no scalable ground-level threat is demonstrated, and it ends up feeling like his crusade is doomed both in ethos and feasibility - further diminishing his image by tacitly portraying him as incompetent and incapable of tactical foresight. this is a nitpick, but can compound the flaw in some cases)
Ultimately what is most regrettable here is that the rest of the movie fucking rules. Truly. The film oozes love and reverence for Boseman and it bleeds into every nook and cranny of camera language and musical cue. It looks and sounds gorgeous. The levity is partitioned out of its essential moments where sadness is present and needed; and Coogler is hurting bad in the driver's seat, it is as palpable as anything happening to the characters, so where he then arrives at the end feels like a true multi-faceted catharsis bringing a smile to anyone with a heart.
It's an open wound. And we all know what it's like to have one of those.
Just wish it showed better craft at placing that wound within the tale of a nation.

Batman Forever but make it cinema.
That is genuine praise. Batman Forever is like my 3rd favourite Batman film.
It’s really nice to see a proper filmmaker with an eye for shot composition and colour grading take the helm for a Comic Book Movie again. Reeves knows how to make a gorgeous film and it sounds so silly to levy that against a film about a man dressed as a bat but it all looks proper nice here.
This is the most emo film I have ever seen, if I had this in my teenage years I guarantee I would have made Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne a major part of my personality and style for far too long, listening to Something in the Way on repeat on my iPod U2 Special Edition.
I’m an incomprehensibly large Batman fan, comic books mainly, and The Riddler used to be my favourite of his rogues' gallery. It’s always so interesting to see each new on-screen take of Edward. Jim Carrey was a perfect Joker dressed up as The Riddler, we had pure hammy silliness from Cory Michael Smith in Gotham, and the pure perfection of Frank Gorshin in the ‘66 Batman series.
Paul Dano really does make The Riddler his own here, he understands that he needs to be unhinged but not to “out-crazy” any potential Joker that comes along. He delivers such a frightening performance, his first appearance in the opening gave me legit chills.
Colin Farrell’s Penguin is a fucking riot. There is no way he wasn’t the person having the MOST fun on set every day. Excited to see him blossom.
Zoe Kravitz delivers the first on-screen Catwoman who is not fully defined by only her sexuality, which is so refreshing. She has grit, punch, and depth.
That Batmobile scene gave me heart palpitations. Like Spielberg’s Duel levels of vehicular-based horror.
An absurd noir film, Reeves balances the silly world of comic books with some grit whilst never taking itself too seriously. An absolute feast for Batman fans. A real palate cleanser to the popcorn-munching thoughtless MCU cookie-cutter, The Batman is what Todd Phillips wished Joker could have been.
If James Gandolfini was still alive he would have bodied The Penguin and I miss him so much.
4.5/5

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - Review
There’s method to the madness
Tumblr media
Despite featuring a villain who turned half of humanity into dust, Marvel has often been seen as the family-friendly brother to the darker shades of DC. This a universe where heroes quip, save the day, and always seem to escape the clutches of death - right? Well, not quite. You might think you know the MCU formula inside and out, but on the evidence of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, this universe still has the capacity to surprise, and even to scare.
When the live-action multiverse first opened up in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it presented infinite possibilities for MCU film-makers. Sure, seeing heroes high-fiving other versions of themselves is cool, but the multiverse could also now be exploited by evil forces looking to manipulate alternate realities. And who better to navigate these nightmarish scenarios than Sam Raimi, a director who not only helmed the Spider-Man trilogy, but oversaw the gory craziness of Evil Dead?
In a bracing opening sequence, we see an alternative reality version of Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) losing his life while protecting a mysterious super-powered kid, America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), from a fearsome beast. Back to our version of earth, and a dejected Strange watches on as his former lover Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams) gets married to a man who isn’t him. Before he can drown his sorrows in some cake, he runs into America and another ill-meaning monstrosity, sent by someone who wants to steal her power - multiversal travel.
This is where the madness of the title comes in. Instead of trying to outdo the spectacle of No Way Home, this completely changes tact, swapping Marvel’s usual light-heartedness for the sensibilities of a horror chase movie (there’s even a groovy cameo for horror aficionados). After a wicked twist that is difficult to talk about without spoiling, Raimi’s film goes to some truly unexpected places. With effective jump-scares, grisly deaths, and a Carrie inspired chase sequence, this fully pushes the boundaries of its child-friendly rating. Doctor Strange’s first director Scott Derrickson flirted with horror elements, but here is the closest that Marvel has come to full-blown slasher.
At times, the multiversal hijinks on display here means that some characters get short-shifted - particularly McAdams, who doesn’t get a lot to do here. For the most part though, Raimi and screenwriter Michael Waldron are able to deliver crowd-pleasing reveals and perfect character moments without sacrificing the quality of the story-telling.
Gomez makes for a smart-mouthed foil to Strange, even if her character doesn’t get as much development as Strange’s last web-headed protege. Meanwhile, Wong (Benedict Wong) is absolutely loving the title of Sorcerer Supreme, much to the amusing annoyance of Strange. While he does occasionally feel side-lined amid all of the chaos, Cumberbatch uncovers new layers to the Master of the Mystic Arts, whose journey from self-important surgeon to selfless hero is convincingly played.
There’s an interesting counterpoint between Strange and Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), who handle unhappiness in their realities in very different ways. In truth, though this is a Doctor Strange film, at times this feels more like an extension of the excellent WandaVision. Still dealing with the aftermath of those events, Olsen threatens to steal the show, nailing the sorrow of someone who regularly dreams of the life and family she sacrificed. As her loss develops into simmering resentment, you can completely see how she comes to embrace the unhinged moniker of Scarlet Witch.
Featuring super-powered beings like Strange, Wanda and America, the film’s creative action sequences are a feast for the eyes. Musical notes become weapons, bodies are contorted, and one jaw-dropping scene sees our heroes switch between a visually diverse range of realities, from live-action to cartoon. But Raimi saves his best for last - a demonic and visually ambitious final act that could be the fuel of nightmares. Marvel might not be so family-friendly after all.
With imaginative action sequences, assured scares and audacious plot developments, Raimi has masterminded Marvel’s loopiest - and scariest - film to date.

Hey, Marvel enthusiasts! Get ready for an exclusive peek into the thrilling developments of the upcoming Sony Marvel movie Madame Web! Our incredibly talented director, S. J. Clarkson, renowned for her outstanding work on Jessica Jones, recently shared some intriguing insights during an interview with Total Film.
Clarkson delved into the exciting similarities between Jessica Jones and Madame Web. Both leading ladies, Jessica Jones and Cassandra Web, emanate a distinct 'loner' vibe characterized by a 'grounded' and 'gritty' tone. Leveraging her experience from directing the first two episodes of Jessica Jones, Clarkson highlighted shared traits between the characters, describing them as a bit 'abrasive,' 'quirky,' and existing on the 'outer edges of things.' She commended Jessica Jones for its authentic portrayal of PTSD, suggesting that Madame Web's storytelling would echo a similar level of authenticity.
Now, let's delve into the world of Madame Web, starring an incredible cast including Adam Scott, Sydney Sweeney, Tahar Rahim, and Dakota Johnson. The movie follows the journey of Cassandra Web, a clairvoyant paramedic navigating the bustling city of New York. Cassandra's unique abilities connect her to the mysterious 'spider world,' compelling her to wield her powers in shielding three young women with web-slinging abilities from the clutches of the ruthless killer, Ezekiel Sims.
