just realized the delicious angst potential of Caitlin genetically matching baby Eo and finding out he's related to Eddie somehow so of course S1 Barry comes to the fairly reasonable conclusion he's WestThawne's baby

On the real, I low key feel like they should’ve had Iris go behind everyone’s back and take out Thawne. Like people ignore all her trauma and you can obviously tell she wasn’t listening to shiiii Joe was saying. She agreed because of her love for Barry but I think if she took him out, that could introduce a dark side of her and some drama. I get Barry trauma but he is such a morale guy. She has seen all Thawne has done to her and her man personally. I wouldn’t even had been mad. Thawne is a menace.

I still think we should get an 'What If' episode
One where Barry accidentally breaks another breach between Earth One and another Earth and in that world SnowBarry/FlashFrost are happily married as WestThawne are happily married [and Cisco is with someone who makes him happy af, duh] and it's this wierd awkward thing where Earth-One Team Flash learn this information from Earth-? Team Flash and its maybe established that this was a thing that could have happened on Earth One had Eddie Thawne lived but he didn't so it didn't and everyone is okay with that.
And on this Earth-? Iris still works with Team Flash as the Quarterback and Eddie helps too with detective stuff and its basically all pretty much the exact same story/timeline as Earth One [obviously Caitlin wouldnt have a liking towards certain characters she'd be with Barry through out all of that] except the couples are different and the two teams have to work together to bring Earth-? team back to their home planet.
I think that would be cool...

Snowbarry Week 2019 Day 6 - Family Unit | ClaireK’s Snowburied Week
Summary: The year Caitlin Snow turned ten years old, there were only a few moments, a few fragments of memory she could remember and hold on to as she grew up. The sight of a young boy with earnest green eyes and a warm smile, his hand held out to her was the brightest memory of all.

The Flash- Screw The Future
If you don’t want to read this whole thing, here’s the tldr- The Flash has potential it’s not using with its story and characters, is afraid to try new things, and instead of doing that, it will bring back old plots with new twists.
I’ve been a fan of The Flash since it first premiered. Actually, since before that when the pilot was leaked online 5 months before its premiere date. I saw it and I couldn’t wait for the series to actually come on the air and when it did, when I saw Grant play the fastest man alive, I knew I was gonna be more invested in this show than I should be. But because of that investment, my expectations for the show outgrew what it eventually became. And it all happened because of one line: “Screw the future”
Season one was filled with potential and it blew my expectations out of the water. The mystery of “who is Harrison Wells” was captivating and the eventual reveal scene between him and Cisco was, and still is, one of the greatest scenes in the entire series. And then the eventual happened, which is relatively ironic considering the eventual was Time Travel.
Time Travel is an integral staple of The Flash mythos, even invoked in his origin, not just the in comics, but also the show. It’s rare if you have a Flash story and Time Travel isn’t involved somehow. And when it was fully introduced to the characters in the show, it was given its day in the sun. We expected more of it, and we got it. But the most surprising, and to me, significant, interpretation of time travel was “screw the future”.
In a show that features Time Travel so heavily, the idea that the future is fixed is a common notion and early Flash was no exception. When we saw the newspaper, we knew 2 things. One, crisis on infinite earths and two, Barry marries Iris. The first one wasn’t addressed until recent but the second was never forgotten and became part of the show.
While that’s not a bad thing, it is a missed opportunity to try something different like Arrow did when they introduced Olicity. And they could’ve done it with the wildcard himself, Eddie Thawne. Eddie, the man who started “screw the future” had so much potential. The ancestor of Barry’s greatest enemy and a damn good detective. But also the love interest of Iris. He was essentially the Tommy Merlin of Flash. If he didn’t die, so many things would’ve changed.
First, the biggest change is he would be with Iris, not Barry. So right away, that means the Thawne family line is changed forever and this could mean we get a different Reverse Flash. It also means no Savitar, as Barry wouldn’t be so emotionally attached to Iris. Sadly, it also means no Nora, at least not the Nora we have now.
Eddie not dying could be the result of Barry deciding to let Eobard go back to his future. In an act of incredible maturity, Barry could return from the past and let Eobard go, telling him to never come back. This version of Eobard, who has been watching Barry grow up for 15 years and training him has said he considers Barry like a son and has grown to respect him, so I think if Barry let him go, he’d honour that and not come back, even maybe telling him about the video freeing his father and warning him about Zoom, albeit in a cryptic way.
Eddie would then go on to maybe become captain of CCPD, and Iris would rise through the ranks of CCPN, and eventually create the Citizen. This would allow us to see more of Iris reporting and give screen time to other characters, like Linda. This is another change with Eddie not dying. Iris would spend less time at STAR labs and wouldn’t quarterback in season 4, since there would be no Savitar and no reason for Barry to surrender himself to the Speedforce. Instead, she could work with the team by using her sources to find information they need, even work with Cisco to make a meta-siting app or website. But none of that happened. Eddie still died, Barry still tried to stop Eobard, Barry and Iris still got together, Savitar still happened, so on and so on. Because they didn’t want to try new things too early.
And not trying new things is a relatively common occurrence on The Flash. They’ll re-use plots but with slightly different circumstances, especially in season 5. Nora has to learn all the same lessons Barry did early in the series, and it makes sense within the context of the characters, but the majority of the audience had already seen these lessons when Barry learned them.
Nora could already be a master over her powers but she said she only had her powers for 6 months before she came back to the past. Over time, this could be suspicious to the team, especially Sherloque, and then we get the reveal on why, because she’s working with Eobard. It would’ve saved the audience of seeing content they’ve already seen, and it’s new.
They could’ve done the same with future Iris. Have future Iris be the controlling, overbearing mom. Have Nora pour her heart out to current Iris over it. Have Barry disagreeing with the fact future Iris put an inhibitor chip in Nora and have Iris swear to never become that person in the future. Have her “screw the future” if you will, instead of accepting she’ll be that person and then never addressing it again. And then have that pay off when they go into Nora’s memories and we see and kinder Iris than what was described.
So far, I’ve been talking about how to do new things with the characters and story, but there’s also the case of not having the characters do what they’re supposed to do. Take Cisco, for example. In season 5 Cisco is working on the meta cure for Caitlin, even though he’s a mechanical engineer. He’s a mechanical engineer, in a season about meta-tech, and they have him working on a bio-medical cure for meta-humans. Why!!?? At least they have Ralph stepping up with his detective work.

Nixie’s Poly AU Challenge: Day Two, Iris x Eddie x Linda - Apocalypse AU.
“Shit, shit, shit.”
“What?” Iris demands harshly as she shuffles over to where Eddie’s huddled close to the window. “What is it?”
“Raiders.” Linda murmurs as she lets herself rock back onto her heels. “Least a dozen or so heading this way.”
“Damn it.” Iris lets out a heavy breath as she squeezes her eyes close.
“Come on.” Eddie reaches over, tugging gently on her rifle’s strap, jutting his chin towards the door. “We gotta go. Get back to the group and let 'em know what’s coming our way.”

Let's be honest, if Eddie had lived he would have been the member of team flash running around banging pots and pans and shouting
KEEPING SECRETS FROM LOVED ONES DOES NOT KEEP THEM SAFE! IT KEEPS THEM IGNORANT OF DANGER.
Someone: we have a problem
Eddie: great, lets tell everyone so we all know what's up
Someone: well I was kind of hoping-
Eddie: no! No secrets! Secrets only cause more trouble. Open communication could save everyone from harm AND emotional hurt at being lied to and/or being kept ignorant.
There would be so much less team drama if Eddie was around to constantly yell at all of to just talk to each other.
By line changing to Iris West-Thawne cause Iris is dedicated and Eddie knows communication.

In the afterlife, Steve Trevor is probably chewing out Leonard Snart and Eddie Thawne and Tommy Merlyn for doing stuff along the lines of what he did.

I've been playing around with a Flash BTVS AU with Iris west as the slayer. My reasons: She's cute but powerful. She's sassy. She's brave. She has good fashion sense. It would have Barry as Angel (which would be hilarious. Imagine brooding Barry trying to hide the fact that he's actually just a huge dork who loves his family), Eddie as Riley, Caitlin as Willow (good and pure, goes through a lot, is corrupted by dark power and hurts friends, becoming a scary-looking version of herself. Also, has an evil doppelgänger of herself), Cisco as Xander (loving, loyal friend), Wally as Dawn (cute younger sibling) and Lisa Snart as Faith (sassy bad girl who's been through a lot, and is actually wonderful). I'm still working on some stuff, but I think it's fun :)

Once Upon a Time AU- Iris West: The True Queen
Princess Iris was raised to be Queen. As a child, she and her best friend, Barry, would run around the palace, getting into all kinds of trouble. Then, one day, Barry told her a secret, something she promised never to tell another living soul.
Iris broke her promise, and almost overnight, Barry’s parents are gone.
Barry soon is taken in by Iris’ father, King Joseph, but their friendship is never the same again. Iris notices Barry distancing himself, but can’t seem to get through to him.
The day that her father dies, Barry comforts her.
Three weeks later, he sends a Huntsman to kill her.
Before Iris knows it, she’s a fugitive in her own kingdom, and Barry is crowning himself King. For the next four years, Iris lives on the run, ducking the King’s Guards and trying to find a way to get away.
Then, she robs a royal coach, and her fate changes forever.

That is an awesome idea for the angsty au, but given what's happened I just can't really see any world where Barry doesn't choose Len, at least in some capacity? I mean, he went crazy over his death and Len being alive was what brought Barry back to sanity. Plus, the last time Barry seemingly chose Iris over Len, Len went and died, causing Barry to go crazy in the first place? So while the first time was a mistake/misunderstanding/cosmic joke, I can't really see him making the same decision
I agree, anon, I just thought it was a fun idea, and I do think Barry would still need a little time to think about what he wants instead of straight up dismissing Iris that first night.
But deep down Barry would remember that in the original timeline he moved on from her and chose Len for good reason, was happy, remembers a version of their lives where Iris was happy wtoo, even if she didn’t know about Barry and Snart being together.
So even remembering two lives, one with Len and one with Iris, it’s the memories of Len that sent Barry off the deep end, and Len himself that brought him back. It’s Len he chooses to help put him back together and bring him back to his life and his family.
But then combined with the whole Iris choosing to pull away from Barry, recognizing this before Barry even has to say anything, and Eddie coming back part, because they will always be my most powerful canon OTP for The Flash.
